>One of the things we keep our eyes peeled for during fashion week is an interesting style tip. Even before see now, buy now was a thing, styling was always the immediate takeaway from a new collection that’s yet to hit stores—be it a chic way to wear a hair bow or an interesting way to layer a shirt. But at the Joseph show during London Fashion Week, there was one unique look that presented an idea we hadn't considered before.
>In the show’s final look, a model graced the runway wearing two dresses. One was a ballon-sleeved, white midi dress in a pretty, soft texture. The other was a red shirt dress, fastened just at the top with one arm in the sleeve and the other side of the dress draped over the shoulder. The coupling created a color-blocked, cape-like effect.
>While a shirt dress is already a great layering staple—it can be worn as-is, layered under a skirt, worn open as a robe, etc.—this is certainly a unique way to use it. It may seem like a fashion faux pas, but it totally works.
