If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have disagreed on jewelry being an investment purchase. Within the past year, though, I've become much more aware of my jewelry purchases and slowly but surely been building out my jewelry box with high-quality, classic staples that I never take off. After testing out different jewelry styles, I've landed on three special pieces that I tend to wear over and over again—and my fellow fashion ladies agree with me.
With a little help from our favorite fashion girls on Instagram, we determined as a team which jewelry buys are actually worth investing in based on how much wear they'll get. Just like with your clothes, you can own endless jewelry items, but at the end of the day, it's the classic, everyday pieces that you'll get the most wear out of. With that in mind, we nailed down three jewelry items—a coin necklace, sculptural ring, and hoop earrings—that will cost you $30 (or less!) every time you wear them.
How exactly do we know this? We did a cost-per-wear calculation to prove just how much value lies in each of these items. Ultimately, we came to the conclusion that, given how many outfit ideas we have saved for each item, it will cost us less than $30 every time we wear the piece (given that we copy each of the outfit ideas, of course). If you're looking to make a wise investment with your next jewelry purchase, each of these three buys is a great candidate and will really make your dollar go the distance.
Don't believe us when we say that each item costs less than $30 per wear? Keep reading to see the photos that prove it, check our math if you're so inclined (we didn't even include wears that aren't pictured!), and then shop the items guilt-free.
Why it's worth it: Whether she's wearing it stacked up with other pendants against a white T-shirt or on its own with a pretty blouse, every fashion girl's favorite way to accessorize is with a vintage-inspired coin necklace.
The cost breakdown: $180 necklace ÷ 6 wears = $30 per wear
Why it's worth it: Even if you're not a ring person, you can probably appreciate an art-inspired dome ring. It adds a dose of cool minimalist style and looks just as good worn on its own as it does next to other styles.
The cost breakdown: $59 ring ÷ 5 wears = $11.80 per wear
MIDSIZE GOLD HOOPS
Why it's worth it: Gold hoops are a classic, but you don't need us to prove that to you. While large hoops make a statement and minis tend to go unnoticed, it's midsize hoops that you'll be able to wear day and night, as the following outfit photos will prove.
The cost breakdown: $45 hoops ÷ 6 wears = $7.50 per wear
