Sharing a name with the popular espresso drink (also known in Cuba as café con leche), the latest offering from New Balance is none other than the Cortado 997 sneaker. The new style from the brand will launch on March 25 at 10 a.m. EDT exclusively at J.Crew stores and online.
The limited-edition collaboration between the retailer and Boston-based sneaker brand celebrates the iconic silhouette, and it is made with premium suede. Cortados get their signature creamy coffee color when equal parts espresso and milk are combined, so naturally, the sneaker's colorway matches to boot, complementing the white sole and gray accents. Shoppers in New York City can score the kicks on March 24 at the J.Crew on Broome Street between 6 and 8 p.m. There, aspiring baristas with an affinity for sneakers can learn how to make a traditional cortado and take home a bag of J.Crew's limited-edition Counter Culture Coffee medium roast blend. In the meantime, shop the current sneaker lineup at J.Crew online.
