The Jewelry Trend Every Italian Knows About
In case you’re new to my byline, I recently shared my trip to Milan and the three key Amazon items I wore for a week straight during MFW. While I was abroad, I also had the chance to tour the factory of one of Italy’s most luxurious jewelry brands, Pomellato. There I learned the steps it takes to create the impeccable Pomellato designs, played with dozens of gorgeous jewels (see photos one to three below), and found out that London Blue is the brand’s best-selling stone color.
I also had the honor of speaking with Pomellato’s creative director, Vincenzo Castaldo, who pointed out the jewelry trend every Italian knows, why certain pieces will never go out of style, and more jewel-related insight. While I was chatting with the incredibly brilliant creative, he shared that stackability is really important to the brand. Pomellato wants a woman to be able to wear different jewels together and stacks of different bracelets. “We encourage stackability with our jewels; it’s about finding the right proportion and the right balance between shapes and colors,” Castaldo shared.
If you look through Pomellato’s Nudo collection, you’ll quickly notice how great the pieces look when layered and stacked in creative combinations. This also lends the ability for customers to create a one-of-a-kind look through a signature stack to fit one’s personality. As I played with the rings and necklaces in the factory, I was able to feel firsthand how intricate and detailed the pieces are. I tried on a stack of Nudo rings and immediately noticed how soft and comfortable the bands felt on my finger.
After Castaldo pointed out the power of stackability, I noticed many of Italy’s most stylish women like Chiara Ferragni (who is also the face of Pomellato) and the founders of Attico, Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, are pros at creating interesting and unique stacks of jewels. Keep reading for a peek inside my day at the Pomellato HQ and see how the Italians stack their accessories at the end.
How could I choose just one? Obviously, I had to try layer on all the glitz I could find. Head here to shop similar Pomellato rings and bracelets.
Here I'm wearing a stack of necklaces from the Nudo collection layered with a new design on the bottom that will be available in 2019.
