Trust Us, You’re About to See This Unexpected Trend Everywhere

One of our favourite ways to find fresh outfit ideas is to check out the street style at fashion weeks around the world. The international circuit is about to commence, kicking off with New York Fashion Week on September 8—so stay tuned for our up-to-the-minute coverage of runway and street style. New Zealand Fashion Week finished last week, and now that we’ve had time to dissect all the street style, one look in particular stood out. Fashion blogger Jaime Ridge of Dillon Dot wore head-to-toe kiwi label Harman Grubisa, featuring a burgundy sequined blazer that we can’t get out of our heads.

Sequins for day is always tricky to pull off, but with labels like Vetements and Magda Butrym incorporating them into new collections, the trend is quickly gaining steam. We’re obsessed with the idea of working the sparkly fabric for day, with low-key separates like denim, T-shirts, and black separates.

Keep scrolling to peep Jaime Ridge’s look, and then shop our favourite sequined pieces if you’re excited to try the trend.

We would dress it down with a grey marle tee.

Layer it over a black turtleneck and ankle boots to dress it down.

Add just a hint of sparkle to your jeans and tee combo.

Ticked the silk bomber off your sartorial checklist? Now do the sequined version.

This one zips up the back so you can wear it a little undone and show some skin.

Make casual Friday in the office at least 10 times more fun with sequins.
