Fashion girl problem #87: tiny closets and too many shoes. While we can’t help with making your closet physically bigger, we would like to suggest one idea for reducing the space your shoes take up, courtesy of Jenna Lyons, J.Crew’s creative director and the self-proclaimed owner of 300 shoes. Lyons’ trick? Alternate the direction of the shoes, and you’ll be able to fit more in a row. This works best with heeled shoes, so that the narrower end (the toe) of one shoe can be put next to the wider end (the heel) of its matching shoe.
Now that you’ll have more room in your closet, let’s go shopping! Scroll to see how Lyons alternated shoes in her own closet and to shop our heels picks.
