Luckily, it's shaping up to be one stylish season, as proven by the season's latest campaign from Veronica Beard. WHO WHAT WEAR: What trend are you most looking forward to wearing this fall?
Hilary Rhoda: Velvet!
WWW: Your style is so polished, do you have any quick tips for looking put-together?
HR: Tuck in your shirt for a more polished look, or add a structured jacket on top. Or if it’s a more billowy dress, belt the waist.
WWW: Give us your five-piece capsule wardrobe for fall.
HR: I'd choose the Veronica Beard blazer with the mock-turtleneck dickey that you can zip in and out of the body and the sleeves because it's such a cool look that's also polished, and I like that it’s two pieces in one. A pair of flared jeans and a feminine, silky, white blouse; those two things can serve as the starting base for every outfit. And the last two would be a statement coat and suede boots that go with everything!
WWW: What's the one piece you can't wait to add to your wardrobe?
HR: I love the navy coat with the fur collar. It's just so chic and will elevate every outfit I pair it with. It would look great with a pair of the brand's flared jeans.
WWW: Any tips for transitioning summer pieces to fall?
HR: I like to add more luxurious texture like suede and leather; that can usually help transition a summer dress easily into the fall months.
WWW: Tell us about your work on the campaign!
HR: I really love all of the clothes. Veronica Beard is totally my style. And I loved that it was such a family affair [the photographer is Veronica's sister]! Having all of the sisters together on set just created this really relaxed, comfortable vibe. It was also my birthday that day, so now I have these great pictures as a memory of my 29th.
WWW: Any traveling hacks you can offer for the coming months?
HR: I always, always, always wear a big scarf because airports and planes are usually freezing and it doubles as a blanket.
WWW: What's your go-to travel outfit?
HR: Wearing jeans that have a little stretch in them is helpful for long flights. And layering is good too, depending on your destination. So I'll wear a bomber/blazer/leather jacket over a button-down shirt, with a T-shirt underneath that! You can definitely wear a cute outfit while traveling without having to sacrifice comfort.
Delicate embroidery gives this button-down a modern spin.
