Hailee Steinfeld is one of those cool California girls who can pull off just about any look with nary a sign of effort. Which makes her the perfect campaign star for Reef's Escape collection, the brand's new line of sleek flip-flops featuring special details like metallic straps and marble-pattern footbeds. Oh, and did we mention that they're insanely comfortable?
Since flip-flops have been a polarizing topicamong the fashion crowd as of late, we were anxious to ask Steinfeld a few questions about her thoughts on everything from what to wear with flip-flops to what the biggest flip-flop faux pas is. And, naturally, we had to ask what swimsuit trend she's investing in this year.
See what she had to say, and shop our picks from Reef's Escape collection below!
On what to say to other fashion girls who aren't sold on the prospect of wearing flip-flops as shoes:
HAILEE STEINFELD: I guess growing up in California, I've never looked at wearing flip-flops any differently than shoes, but I will say that with this collection it feels like a shoe. It looks like something that would complete or be part of an outfit.
On what outfit formula looks best with flip-flops (off the beach):
HS: Really anything! They can look great with a pair of ripped jeans and a tank top or a flowy long dress.
On the swimsuit trend she's most excited to invest in this summer:
HS: I love a great one-piece, especially the high-cut style that's coming back, [and] a great strapless is always awesome.
On when "flip-flop season" is:
HS: In California, it's all year round!
On the flip-flop faux pas she's committed or seen others commit:
HS: Toe rings aren't for me. I definitely can't wear them as well as some people.
