It's no secret that celebrities often get scores of free stuff, including expensive red carpet gowns and jewelry. (Which is why it was so different of Bryce Dallas Howard to purchase her dress herself for last night's show.) But as it turns out, getting prepped for such a big occasion is far from inexpensive. The New York Post crunched some numbers and came up with surprising results.
Scroll down to see how much it costs to complete a star's Golden Globes look!
For starters, a typical day rate to hire a stylist is around $1500, so 10 days of work can total $10,500. And the Post reports that some stars don't hire just any old tailor—they often hire "couture-trained tailors from Europe," which can potentially cost around $1500 for a flight and $1000 for a hotel for several days.
Although jewelry is loaned for free, jewelry brands can rack up bills of up to $20,000 for insurance and security, according to the Post. "Armored trucks, guards and insurance are all part of the process," Forevermark Diamond's expert Kristen Trustey told the Post.
The New York Post estimates a $6000 tab for hairstylists, which includes three days of consultations and test runs. As for makeup, many makeup artists reportedly charge around $1500 per hour, which can total around $5000 for the big night. And last but not least, a manicure can run a celebrity $300 for a house call.
Grand total: $44,300
