We Totally Agree WIth What Bill Cunningham Said About This Kiwi Model

If you’re not familiar with Kiwi model Georgia Fowler, let us introduce you. For starters, her Instagram feed is filled with a BTS snapshot of her glamorous life (and endless outfit inspo), she’s captured the eye of Karl Lagerfeld (and walked for Chanel in 2012), has given The Coveteur a tour of her NYC apartment, and most recently featured on the cover of Elle Russia. Not bad for a 24 year old.

And now? You’re about to see a whole lot more of our newest girl crush. Georgia joins Australian model Megan Blake Irwin, in Kookai’s S/S 17 campaign—which has us wishing we escaped the Sydney cold and spent the European summer in Capri instead.

To celebrate Georgia Fowler’s latest campaign, we sat down with the model for a quick chat about that viral Instagram post, her off-duty style, and what’s next for 2016. Read on!

Who What Wear Australia: Your career is absolutely skyrocketing—do you think it helped that you posted this amazing earring shot and the image went viral?

Georgia Fowler: Haha! I think social media is very important in today's industry and helps to create a brand, however I don't think it has had much play in my modelling career. I've been working and traveling since I was sixteen, so would say probably hard work and persistence has paid off! Nevertheless, a healthy amount of likes on a photo is always exciting.

WWW: What advice do you have for aspiring models?
GF: Don't give up, and do not change. You will never be everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok, if you remain who you are you will be happier with the work you get, and will have a lot more longevity.

WWW: That’s great advice, even if you aren’t an aspiring model. What’s been your biggest career highlight to date? And biggest ‘pinch-me’ moment?

GF: You are about to find out, but for now it is hush-hush! I have ‘pinch-me’ moments all the time—with each job I feel so fortunate and want to give myself a pinch! But more specifically, I've been sketched by Karl Lagerfeld, and a few months ago Bill Cunningham took my photo and told me I looked spectacular—that was pretty special.

WWW: That’s so special! We love your off-duty style, so tell us, what are your favourite fashion brands?
GF: I'm a chameleon in the styling department and can never quite make up my mind how to dress… But a few designers I adore are Saint Laurent—for when I'm rock and roll, Isabel Marant and Chloe for when I'm being a little hippy, Gucci for when I'm feeling fun, and Acne Studios for when I want to be a little more chill.

WWW: And your go-to outfit for a casting?

GF: Jeans or leather pants and a button-down.

WWW: And a night out?

GF: Same as above! Plus a heel!

WWW: What’s next for you?

GF: My goal for the rest of 2016 is to carry on this momentum, and work hard, whilst keeping a healthy work/life balance. I hope to land a few big editorial shoots and shows, and continue working with esteemed photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, and designers. Let's see where the year will take us! Hopefully it's an exciting ride!

*Ed's note: We have a feeling it will be.
