This DIY Expert Will Take Your Heels to the Next Level

It’s that time of year. Each weekend (weekend now meaning Thursday through to Sunday) calls for a new excuse to run out and grab a new outfit. While it would be heaven to be able to have a new pair of shoes for every occasion, it just isn’t sustainable for most of us.

Enter—Geneva Vanderzeil. The brains (and beauty) behind A Pair and a Spare. If there’s ever a trend you’re desperate to try but aren’t sure if you want to splash out, have a search through Vanderzeil’s website. Chances are, she’s created a DIY version.

We asked the busy shoe whiz to whip us up a DIY option for party season—something that’ll feel special and change up a classic pair of heels.

Cut the straps off the bow ties and open up the straps of your heels.

Open​ the back of the cross strap on the bow tie.

Slide the ankle ​strap of the heels​ through the back of the cross strap.

Close the straps on your heels and position the bows where you want them to sit - front, side or back all work well and, voila!
