With summer starting to wind down, it seems like the topic of back to school is impossible to avoid. In fact, just minutes ago when I was walking back to our office from a coffee break, I even passed by a Limited Too “back to school” installation in Union Square—no joke. But what about those of us who, ever since the start of post-grad life, wouldn’t touch a textbook with a 10-foot pole? We have “back to work” style, of course. While there’s no designated first day of work for the 9-to-5 set, odds are that after a somewhat slow and nearly empty office this summer, sometime around Labor Day things will start to pick back up, and you’ll want to put your best foot forward.
This brings us to today’s post, where we’re highlighting six back-to-work outfits for every type of woman and office. From track pants to pencil skirts, we’re bound to have something that speaks to you. The best part, however, is that thanks to our very own Who What Wear collection at Target, every item in the upcoming slideshow (including shoes and bags) is under $50. So even if you spent all your savings in Mykonos or Capri this summer, you can still get in on the action. Below, see the stylish first-day-of-work looks for yourself and of course shop everything you need to re-create each!
For a relaxed yet polished look, pair a lace top with a printed pencil skirt and white flats.
For a trendy take on business attire, go for a ruffled shirt tucked into checked trousers, and of course add some classic pumps.
If you work in an anything-goes type of office, why not show your stripes? Pair track pants with a lace top and denim jacket.
Your work wardrobe deserves this chic upgrade.
An always flattering combo: skinny cropped pants with a slightly oversize jacket.
For a cool contrast, pair a silky T-shirt with a lace skirt and menswear-inspired shoes.
And lastly, we call this one Old Faithful. Sleeveless blouse, pencil skirt, and sandals—works in any color or print, so you can never go wrong!
