Preppy style is in the midst of a renaissance, and not just because Ralph Lauren made us all want to invest in a Team USA Olympics blazer. Miu Miu has been one of the key drivers of this aesthetic, with models walking the spring/summer 2024 runway in polos, boat shoes, and baggy board shorts. However, a rugby shirt has become the latest sportswear item to receive a high fashion treatment, with brands like The Row, Dries van Noten, and Miu Miu repositioning them as an unlikely cult buy.

It’s a look that you’ll currently see in every organic wine bar in London, however the key is to under no circumstances pair it with any other athleisure. This is not a top to wear with your Lululemon leggings and New Balance sneakers. Instead, you want this to be used as one off-beat, sportswear item within an otherwise polished look. Instead of the scruffy Saltburn aesthetic, pair your oversized polo with an embellished pencil skirt, puff-ball hem mini, or tailored pants.

As for trending styles, there are lots of boxy shirts with wide, horizontal stripes in rich collegiate colors, such as burgundy, green, and reds. Without sounding like I'm moaning, can a winter person please explain to me (a summer person) what they like about winter? I'm cold, my face is dry and did I mention, I'm cold? Of course I'm already planning a getaway to anywhere that's warm, but while I'm still in the UK, I have to carefully plan my outfits to make sure I can enjoy this season. And you want to know why? I am a proud proponent of weekend getaways. They give you something to look forward to all week, and scratch that travel itch without having to submit any time off work, and are the perfect opportunity to bond with your friends in a change of scenery. Recently it was my birthday and I planned the perfect weekend away in South Hampton.

While usually I head to the Hamptons during peak season in the summer for a beach getaway but out east in the fall can be just as magical. While I normally escape to a hotel, in particular the Canoe Place Inn & Cottages  hotel in Hampton Bays which if I'm being honest might be my favorite hotel in all of the Hamptons (and I have stayed at several). With spacious rooms (an uncommon find out east) the best hotel restaurant, Good Ground Tavern I've eaten at in awhile and hosting Fireside Friday's every evening of hot cider, rich hot chocolate, gooey s’mores and live acoustic music all throughout the fall and other fun seasonal events all year round.

Since it was my birthday and I was hosting over 10 people, and since I caught the hosting bug, we ended up stayed in the most beautifully decorated quaint South Hampton home that had everything I could’ve wanted.

A lovely den-like seating arrangement on the back patio to sit and enjoy a glass of wine emerged in the fall foliage, huge ceilings, and a stunning large dining table where I hosted my birthday dinner party. The weekend went so well I ended up filling up the rest of my fall calendar with random weekends away, and not only that, but have complied the ultimate weekender packing list.

I included everything you’re going to need from eye masks incase the blinds at your Airbnb just don’t do it for you, a sweater dress that’s formal enough to wear to a dinner out yet cozy enough for a night in, the facial spray I don’t go anywhere without, and so many other buys I swear by.

Since last year, I noticed a shift happening in my personal style but couldn't quite put my finger on how to define it. I was (and am) still interested in my usual classic-meets-minimalist neutral outfits, but I found my attention gravitating toward more laid-back looks that have an outdoorsy feel. Whenever it's time to discuss wellness journeys or how to improve our overall health, fashion is often left out of the conversation. Everyone's definition of "risqué" may be different, but you'll typically want to think about the timing and crowd that will be browsing the gallery at the same time before slipping into skin-baring pieces. For example, if you're visiting a museum in the middle of a school day, it might not be the ideal time to bust out a cutout dress, but if you're attending a cocktail party celebrating a gallery opening, that's a whole other thing. It's not wrong to show a little skin—just make sure you balance it with styling, timing, and self-awareness.

There's a large misconception that you must dress a particular way to visit art galleries (e.g., either super formal or very "touristy"), but that's not the case.
