I just got home from spending three weeks in NYC (I promise I'm not trying to make anyone jealous), and while I was there, I accumulated more chic and effortless fall outfit ideas than I can count. I'm a fashion editor, but even I sometimes look at my closet and think to myself, I have nothing to wear. I've been having more of those days than I'd like lately, so I decided to do a little Nordstrom haul for some new pieces. The retailer has the crème de la crème of fall fashion. I've made a consistent effort to start out strong with my style on Mondays. Some weeks I'm successful, and others I fail—but, hey, I'm trying! I swapped my usual blue denim out for a pair of ecru wide-leg jeans, and it took my look from casual to elevated in a matter of seconds. (Why is it that neutrals always feel so polished?) The ribbed sweater tank is another ode to Los Angeles fall since I would have been sweating if I tried to wear anything with sleeves.

Wednesday

I'm a sucker for a good dress, and this one from Topshop immediately stole my heart. The cozy knit material! The creamy color! The midi length! Lately, I've been all about pairing my midi- and maxi-length pieces with tall boots, and these black riding boots were the perfect match. I love the contrast of the neutral dress and dark color of the boots—it feels really elevated.

Thursday

I could lie and say that I put this cozy 'fit on after work to curl up on the couch while binge-watching TV with my husband, but that would be a lie. I wore it all day. I always say never underestimate the power of a good outfit and the confidence it can give you. A few months ago, I started uploading daily outfit reels, and it's been such a refreshing outlet. It's renewed my love for color and patterns, which you'll see a lot of in my weekly fits. I recently moved to Nashville, which means weirdly humid, undependable weather, and I work from home as a senior influencer and partnerships manager for Ilia Beauty, but I'll always find an excuse to dress up (and probably film it). When people ask me about my style, I usually laugh because, as you'll clearly see, I don't really have one. I do, however, love to commit to a theme. Putting this colorful plaid dress on was instant joy in the form of clothing, which was exactly what I needed on a Monday. I actually got to work on this piece with a small-batch designer in Brooklyn called Ophelia & Indigo. It's a great breezy summer piece for a quick coffee in the sunshine before I tackle my inbox. Pairing it with sneakers makes it feel fun and youthful but also comfortable and practical. The serotonin is strong.

Nashville recently got a Soho House, and it's the first thing we mention when our New York friends ask how we're liking it here (to remind them we're not totally out of touch). Whenever I have the occasional in-person breakfast meeting there, I always feel a blazer is in order. I've worn this one on repeat for the last year, and it still doesn't get old. I went for a taupe tonal moment with bold, wide-leg pants that are actually ridiculously comfortable. They're very much sitting pants. Since I often end up spending the afternoon working at Soho House, I prefer something a bit more understated and easy. I'll finish with my self-proclaimed "clown mules" for a pop of color and a little zebra bag to clash patterns in the best way.

After a singular day wearing muted tones, I'm craving color. When people ask me to show them an example of how to mix patterns, I point them to this fit. Today, I'm not even going anywhere but woke up early to film this look for an outfit reel before I start my 9-to-5. The way the yellow, purple and black all tie into each other just works. Mushroom pants? Say less. The crazy part is these are even comfier than they look. The silky texture feels like you're wearing nothing but also looks incredibly chic. I threw this on at the tail end of the work day because I had happy hour drinks with a few girlfriends. I balanced out the bold pants with a simple, fitted, cropped tank and lightweight blazer. I threaded a few pops of color from the pants in with the two-tone bag and papaya sandals.

Summer Fridays are in full force, which makes it essentially impossible to focus, but we just have to make it to 1 p.m. Tonight, I'm going to a concert with my husband (one of the perks of living in Music City), so I was inspired to pull out this check-printed dress with the coolest stitch-sleeve detail. I paired it with chunky platform slides and skinny Matrix-inspired sunglasses. I finished it off with this shoulder bag for a pop of blue and was out the door. Oh, wait—just two more Zoom calls…

While we're technically a full month out, all signs are pointing to the start of summer in LA. Coffees orders are iced instead of hot, beaches are packed again, and outfits are visibly lacking any extra layers. Not only that, but women are replacing their boots and loafers with lightweight sneakers, sandals, and wedges. Take content creator Morgan Lynzi for example. One look at her TikTok full of wellness hacks, healthy recipes, and local fashion finds, and it's clear she's an L.A. girl. I'll be the first to admit that I'm obsessed with footwear. There are currently no fewer than fifty pairs of shoes stacked in my closet, and yet, I'm here to share five new styles that I think are worth buying this season. Here's the thing: Sorel has some really cool, new spring shoes ranging from sandals to sneakers to wedges, and they're all under $140. Plus, I've already discovered the exact outfits to wear them with thanks to NYC local Jazmyn Smith, who's been wearing these shoes with her spring 'fits. Denim and sandals for spring may not be groundbreaking—that is, unless those sandals have a retro, sporty vibe going on. Queue this lime-colored pair from Sorel featuring a chunky sole and statement clasps. "I went to explore the city and wanted to have a pop of color," Smith explains. "The shoes popped, so I wanted a top that matched to tie it all together."

You can never go wrong with a printed midi dress and sandals. Chunky wedge styles, in particular, are trending for spring. "I love open-toed shoes and having an excuse to get a pedicure," Smith says. So it's fitting that she chose black wedges with white soles to bring out her matching white polish.

This look proves that athletic sneakers can and should be worn with more than just leggings. This 'fit is giving cool off-duty vibes thanks to the simple knit top, high-rise denim shorts, and Sorel sneakers, which Smith says are so comfortable they made her want to go on a long walk.

One of my favorite spring uniforms is a crop top and trousers, and this look is reminding me exactly why. I appreciate that Smith chose another pair of chunky, sporty sandals here to keep the look casual and cool.

I love that Smith stuck to a neutral palette for this casual Friday 'fit, but the shorts bodysuit, uniquely shaped sunnies, and white sneakers with colorful details are still so interesting. "I love how many colors are in the shoes but how they can go with anything," she emphasizes.

I've been a loyal customer of the fashion-person favorite for years, and I'm not about to change my ways this spring. In fact, I think my love for Nordstrom is heightened (if that's even possible). But you won't blame me after seeing the cool 'fits I came up with over the past few days. This look may be black and white, but it makes a statement. And is there any better way to start off the week? No. Now, if you've been looking for the perfect pair of wide-leg, high-waisted pants, I'm here to tell you that your search is over. These Topshop pants feel like they should be worth twice their actual price. And for once in my life, they fit my tall legs. I paired them with this animal-print Reformation top to make them feel a little less formal but still elevated. And the platform sandals are a must now that the weather is warming up.

If you haven't already heard me talk about my love for dresses, welcome. I love a good midi or maxi dress no matter the season. It's the easiest way to feel chic and über-comfortable at the same time. I especially like how this black one already has a little bit of that cool, wrinkled feel to it, so I don't have to worry about ironing or steaming it every time I want to wear it. For a casual touch, I added my favorite shoe at the moment: a pair of fisherman sandals. As an avid wearer of fisherman sandals in my youth, I'm happy they've made their way back around in 2022.

Skims never (and I mean never) misses. Every item I get from the brand is better than the last. This bodysuit hugs in all the right places, and above all, it's comfortable. It gives off that "I'm not really trying too hard" look (which I always aspire to achieve). But my favorite part of the outfit? These Agolde jeans. They fit like a literal glove and are the perfect wash. You could pair this look with sneakers, loafers, or strappy sandals, but I went with these chunky heels (aka the comfiest things I've ever put on my feet) to elevate it a bit.

Can I hear a little commotion for this set? Thank you. Thursdays call for a cocktail with friends, so of course, I had to step up a little bit. My favorite part about this set is that, although it's incredibly stylish, it's actually rather comfortable. The material is stretchy, which I wasn't expecting. I once again chose my fisherman sandals with this 'fit to keep it feeling low-key.

TBH, I just feel cool in this shirt. In case you missed it, bandana tops are the moment, so this Y2K-inspired top was very much a necessity for Friday. I got out of work early and went to bop around some of my favorite Venice spots before grabbing dinner with my fiancé, so this top was perfect for transitioning from day to night. "On Mondays, I like to rely on a jolt of color (and let's be honest, a lot of coffee, too) to kick-start my week, and this cornflower-blue stunner is delivering! Spoiler: This color is sold out, but what I really fell hard for was this dress's embroidery detail, which is just as evident on the other two available colors. It adds subtle yet beautiful texture and dimension to the fabric. As if the embroidery wasn't enough, the covered buttons are also a big selling point because they lend an expensive air to any outfit. I'd wear this look to the office on a low-key day because it's the kind of easy dress you can feel comfortable in all day long. A pretty olive bag with a tie handle and Birkenstocks with statement gold buckles that feel like jewelry finish off the look, no matter which color you go with."

"We're already having some warm evenings in L.A., and this dress would be spot-on for a sunset dinner at one of my favorite beachside restaurants. As I live in New York City, it can be hard to relax. Whether it be the battle of bodies rushing in and out of the subway, the constant honking and sirens swarming the streets, or the nagging feeling that there's always something else to do, New Yorkers rarely can enjoy a minute of calm. "I live in Los Angeles, so hiking is something I do a lot. I like to start out my week with an early-morning hike at the city's most famous spot: Runyon. While I want what I'm wearing to be functional, I also want to wear something that feels on-trend. (And a sports bra paired with sweatpants is L.A.'s #1 off-duty look.) Most of the sports bras I own are from activewear brands, but this style from Wacoal prioritizes bust shape since it comes in my actual bra size to ensure the perfect fit. Instead of just flattening everything for function, it lifts at the same time, which is so key."

TUESDAY

"I basically live in jeans and a button-down on the day-to-day. In this case, I added a pair of throwback sneakers and a baseball cap, two accessories I can't get enough of right now. Whether I'm working from home or grabbing lunch at one of my favorite local spots, this is what you'll find me wearing. I love that I can easily throw on a bralette with this top since it's such a go-to style for me. It's equal parts comfortable and pretty. If I'm running around, I want to wear something easy and comfortable, so I rely on some of my favorite closet basics—including everything I'm wearing here."

WEDNESDAY

"I can't get enough of chic pantsuits, and I'm a firm believer that they work for nearly every occasion. The true trick to pulling them off? A great top and heels that make them feel fashion-forward as opposed to corporate. This bra worked perfectly with this top because it looked seamless and smooth under the tank. I couldn't even tell it had underwire—it was so comfortable!"

THURSDAY

"Nothing tops this look for a work meeting. The split-hem leggings are effortlessly elevated with the easy addition of the structured blazer. Because this blazer is pretty fitted, I was looking for something that would offer support without any added volume—and this bra couldn't have been a better fit. And to be honest, while this bra is the perfect piece to wear under this blazer, it's also the ultimate pretty item to wear any chance I get. Trust me."

FRIDAY

"A knit tank and pleated skirt paired with sharp slingbacks? My ideal date-night look. I'm wearing the same T-shirt bra as I was on Wednesday (it's worth having multiple in your drawers) because the thin straps on this bra make it an ideal style to swap in when I might normally go for something strapless. (I'm all for more support.) By the end of the week, I usually have a few social outings penciled in. I tend to keep my outfits sleek and easy, so a bra that can hide underneath a tank top is just what I'm looking for."

I was recently told I have "classic style," which, honestly, was news to me. I guess I've just gotten a little out of practice with prints and colors over the past few years. I'll admit that after doing several clean-outs during lockdown, there's a tiny chance I may have overcorrected and ended up with a wardrobe that's a bit too curated (if that's even a thing). But it can be a little tricky to dabble in fun trends when I've become so damn picky with what I'll actually invest in.

As someone who doesn't let herself buy every trend in sight (though I want to), I'm truly not sure why I never jumped on the fashion-rental bandwagon with everyone else in New York. It's not that I don't like pink. I really do. I just struggle to wear this bubblegum shade without feeling a little... I don't even know what. But I've had this theory that my berry vegan-leather pants would pair really well with a happy, poppy pink, so here we are, and I'm not mad at it. In terms of a long-term purchase, I think I'd opt for a white button-down with a really fine pink pinstripe, but this is fun to wear for a stint.

I'm really into matchy looks that play with different textures, so I prioritized wearing this silky navy skirt with this cozy half-zip knit to rooftop jazz and dinner on the Lower East Side last week. I 10/10 recommend this Ralph Lauren skirt, particularly with knee-high boots for a seamless look.

Fall is a confusing time in Los Angeles. As much as I desperately want chilly breezes, orange leaves, and pumpkin-scented candles burning in every room (I am that girl), fall around here has more of a try-not-to-sweat-through-your-shirt vibe. When I first moved here from Northern California, the L.A. fall weather was a shock. But after seven years of living here, I've learned to embrace it.

So when putting together fall looks, I have to take into account that it may be 90° outside. I have to start off strong on the first day of the week, or it's all downhill from there. We have a large marketing meeting every Monday, so even though no one really sees me (we still work from home), I might as well look nice. The sweater-vest trend has really stolen my heart this fall. It feels a little more dressed up than a regular T-shirt, but it's still comfortable. Once it gets a little cooler out, I'll layer it over a long-sleeve, but for now, this gives me fall vibes without causing me to overheat.

When stay-at-home orders started, my former roommate and I decided to dedicate Thursdays to making cocktails and watching reality TV. Even though I've since moved in with my fiancé, my old roommate and I still keep our tradition alive. Now that we can go out, our Thursdays are filled with new restaurants and local cocktail lounges, so going-out tops are back in my rotation. Last month, I went on a beach vacation with my friends to Mexico, and to say the trip was epic would be quite an understatement. It was the first time I traveled out of the country in well over a year (I took every recommended precaution), and it was truly so special and fun. I honestly forgot what it felt like to be on a vacation let alone how to pack for one. I stared at my closet for days considering every possible outfit option and finally decided to just bring them all. I can't be the only one who's like this, right?

I have no regrets about my terrible decision-making skills when it comes to packing because I ended up wearing some very cute 'fits all week long. I think these five looks were my best, but I'll let you be the judge.

MONDAY

It's no surprise I packed plenty of bikinis for this trip, so naturally, I put one on within minutes of arriving at the house my friends and I rented. I love the way this head-to-toe pink-and-orange look came together—sarong, hair scrunchie, and bracelets included.

TUESDAY

Linen is my best friend when in a warm destination, and it should be yours, too. This day was particularly hot, so I went with a linen cropped tie top and matching shorts. A few key accessories like anklets, sunglasses, and a headscarf turned this otherwise simple 'fit into a vacation-worthy one. And yes, this is the view from the house. I couldn't believe it either!

WEDNESDAY

A boat day is the perfect opportunity to wear a full look, so that's exactly what I did. This is the first summer I started purchasing cover-ups that match my bikinis, and I don't think I will ever go back.

THURSDAY

I've been really committing to the crochet trend this summer. The material is so summery and beachy and makes you feel like you're on a vacation even if you're not. This crochet dress gets bonus points for the cutouts, but who's counting?

FRIDAY

Surprise, more crochet! I received more compliments from strangers on this one look than I probably have on any outfit in the past year. While I love the bright-green bucket hat, I think it's the checkered crochet shorts that really draw people in. I've worn them with an oversize button-down not on vacation, and it's an equally cool look.

Last year, I (almost) had all the time in the world to not only start really reconsidering the way I shop for future pieces, but also take a good look at what I already owned. I realized how important it is for me to buy pieces that stand the test of time, and can be worn with a multitude of outfits. It was time I bid adieu to hoarding fast-fashion pieces and start buying better (like a pair of Levi's®), and wearing longer. This will help me experiment with my wardrobe, and have outfits I will wear on repeat through the year.

For some inspiration, I'm turning to Gen Z’s most stylish to see what the younger set is wearing. Lucky for me, I work with none other than Yusra Siddiqui, who some of you may already follow. Who What Wear's assistant market editor has a knack for finding key pieces she can seamlessly integrate into her wardrobe, and this season, she's been wearing her Levi's^® Straight Jeans on repeat. I also tapped Nya Green, one of my favorite models on TikTok, who churns out effortless outfits like no one else (and proved Loose Cargos are a spring staple). I asked them to style their favorite Levi's^® five different ways to show how much mileage you can get out of your wardrobe when you change your shopping strategy to buying better and wearing longer. Siddiqui, whose style is a dash of classic and a sprinkle of trendy, told me that when it comes to putting an outfit together, you need to look at pieces through the lens of how you enjoy dressing—not just the more obvious on-trend way of styling them. "I love trends as much as the next person, but I sometimes find myself blindly following the popular way to wear something instead of taking the time to look at a piece and think, 'Okay, how do I want to wear this? How can I style it to make me feel good?'"

For her weekday wardrobe, she dressed up her high-waisted, wide-leg jeans with fancier pieces (hello, feather-trimmed top), but her favorite pick of the bunch was this look below, starring a micro-floral second-skin top she tells me she can't stop wearing.

What typically inspires your style? How do you create variety in your looks?

My weekly wardrobe really varies: I tend to do a mix of comfortable outfits with one or two stand-out looks. Although I love dressing up, comfort is priority for me, so I like to keep a balance of trendy ensembles with simple and relaxed ones.

What do you love about these Levi's^® jeans?

I've been gravitating toward Levi's^® since college. Its quality and fit are just unbeatable. As someone who's 5'3, it can be tricky to find denim that fits at the waist and doesn't pool at my legs. None of my Levi's^® pairs ever have to be altered, so why not stick to what you know? I wear black a lot, so I like how this look didn't involve any, and I was able to think outside the box a little in terms of color and styling.

If you're looking for some fresh style inspiration, here it is, care of Green. She's truly a pro at creating a perfectly harmonious look from a reckless mix of vintage and thrifted pieces, so I wasn't surprised when she made a point of telling me not to be afraid of experimentation. "Try wearing new combinations that you’d never think to wear," Green says. "Textures should be your best friend. A silky oversize shirt paired with cargo pants is the perfect spring outfit."

My everyday wardrobe consists of many eccentric pieces that are randomly thrown together. I love combining staples from different decades to create variety. Textures and patterns are key when wanting to differentiate your closet.

A significant part of my ethos is protecting the environment. I’m constantly on the hunt for a brand that incorporates fashion and sustainability. They’re super soft to the touch and not your typical paper-bag cargo pant. They hug your body in just the right places.

"I try to live like my life’s a movie and I’m the main character, which means banal tasks like rushing books to the post office are anything but ordinary. I copped this amazing tote from my friend Thia during the holidays, and it has become my go-to tote for all book-related errands. I loved building a whole look around it and decided to layer in my favorite color (pink but don’t @ me) and some classy, over-the-top elements. I pulled the look together with a gorgeous (and massive) scrunchie from Bulletin-brand Room Shop and relied on jeans to keep the look casual. We’re just going to the post office, after all! I do try to get dressed and dolled up on Mondays to set a great tone for the week and keep my spirits up."

TUESDAY

"Carrie Bradshaw who?! I had a rare IRL meeting for the book on Tuesday, so I decided to amp up the glam and go full force on color. If I’m meeting someone new in a professional setting, I always try to leave an impression. This go around that meant a punchy-but-comfortable button-down dress by one of my faves Christina Alcalay and glittery pink shoes my mom gifted me two years back. They’re very Wizard of Oz meets early 2000s. I tied the look together with Fenty glasses, which my co-founder Alana gifted me last year for the holidays, and an amazing glasses chain by Bulletin-brand Serendipitous Project. The chartreuse Americae bag is the cherry on top! The meeting went well, and yes, I fully succeeded in leaving an impression!"

WEDNESDAY

"We closed our Bulletin offices in Q2 of last year due to COVID, but we just started getting our New York–based employees memberships to Soho House and Dumbo House. We’re all getting a little claustrophobic with the WFH situation, so we wanted to give our team an optional place they could use to escape a bit and get a nice change of scenery. I don’t go often because I don’t love wearing my mask while working in a public place, but I try to go at least once a week to shake things up. I usually throw on a comfortable and stylish dress, like this one from Nikki Chasin, and lean on gold accessories to tighten up the look. Definitely felt some hardcore Courtney Love inspo while pulling this look together."

THURSDAY

"Even if I’m doing a Zoom panel or remote presentation or my book, I try to pull a whole look together (sometimes I’m in pajama pants though—let’s be real) so I feel on-point and ready to shine. Post Zoom, I’ll go on a quick walk through the park or stroll down the block to grab an iced oat-milk latte from my favorite local spot, Pecks. I just bought this shirt made by Bulletin-brand Selva Negra, and I find myself wearing it almost… every day? The shirt literally goes with everything, looks great on camera, and is definitely very comfortable."

"This set from Bulletin-brand Gracemade is a game-changer. I wanted to order it in a zillion different colors because it’s made from such comfortable and high-quality linen. I try to cut down on the number of meetings I have on Fridays so I have some breathing room to bring Winnie, my beagle, to Fort Greene Park for a long stroll. This set is the perfect outfit for an afternoon walk, a jaunt to the farmer’s market or supermarket, or anything else that demands both cuteness and comfort. My mom, a native New Yorker, was obsessed with animal print when I was young. I mean, she still is, but she used to pick me up from school in a full-on cowhide coat and owned so many leopard- and cheetah-print accessories that I nearly lost count. With that said, I, too, now like dressing up a basic set with slightly aggressive and memorable accessories à la this leopard print headband."

I'm grateful to have Natalie Cantell as my boss for many reasons, including but not limited to the following: She has taught me literally everything I know about working in the fashion industry; she has a very cute Goldendoodle named Ruby (pictured below), who's equal parts naughty and adorable; and she has that casual-yet-put-together style that I'm forever trying to emulate. While all of those things hold value to me, the last point is what I'm here to talk about today. 

I once sat a mere 36 inches away from Natalie five days a week, but now that we're working from home, things are a bit different. By that I mean, instead of taking notes on her style choices each day, I have to ask her to stand up during video meetings so I can see what she's wearing. (I'm so annoying—I know.) Since Natalie's weekday outfits have been so good lately, I kindly asked her to document them. "Starting the week off strong in my go-to outfit: Really good denim paired with a tucked-in black ribbed-knit top that brings a slight '90s vibe, which I chose to further accentuate by adding my favorite gold jewelry. This particular tank is a great weight for spring and length for tucking, definitely one of those "quick, get it in every colorway” finds. As for the jeans, these hit all my requirements: High-waist, straight-leg, slight crop, mid-wash, no distressing, not too much stretch so they’re comfy but the silhouette has integrity. In summary, while this look’s not exactly groundbreaking, it’s actually much better than that: It’s chill and effortless and 100% fool-proof. Guaranteed to make me feel good and put-together, hence being my Monday go-to."

"There’s something to be said for a look that only seems like a lot went into it. One-and-done jumpsuits are sneaky like that. They require zero brainpower beyond the confidence to wear it in the first place, and then all day you end up being treated as this fun human who wore a jumpsuit! I don’t know why this is true, but it is. Also, and this is a weirdly specific detail, I remain quite taken by the fact that the back pockets sit so nicely. I’ll be wearing this all over again come fall, just with the addition of a creamy turtleneck layer."

"I aspire (and fail) to be one of those chic minimalist people who live in an apartment with only a few pieces of furniture and one huge abstract line drawing on the wall. According to my Instagram follows, these people wear outfits that are very simple but take the form of interesting silhouettes… which seems to be the key to coming across both effortless and intentional, timeless and modern, and all those other oxymoronic style goals. Anyway, me putting on this outfit is very much me pretending to be one of these people. I’ve historically had a funny little aversion to wearing dresses and feeling like I’ll be accused of being too dressed up at any moment, so the rise of the house dress last year has been liberating. I’m finally getting comfortable just wearing cute little numbers like this around for no particular reason, puff sleeves and all. Feels good."

"A moment, please, for this jacket. I don’t really know how to describe it. It’s sort of… blazer adjacent? It’s quietly nodding to multiple trends at once but not trying very hard at any of them. For example, the diagonal seam of the yoke feels a little bit Western but not convincingly so. It has a belt tie for an optional safari vibe, but it’s equally good worn without. It has a French utility jacket (aka chore coat) feel that I really like, which comes across even more in the dark blue colorway. But also, it’s not really any of these things? I don’t know what it is. Anyway, I love it.

(PS: Everything else here is basically the same as Monday—same great jeans, same great ribbed top, only this time in cream.)"

"Firstly, let it be said: The combo of this weighty fabric, relaxed fit, and tailored details (pleats, square neckline, wide straps) has this jumpsuit looking expensive. Secondly, pockets! I love pockets. I hardly go anywhere that requires a handbag anymore, so I need something to do with my hands. Finally, this jumpsuit has great potential as an office-to-drinks Friday outfit, and who knows, one of these days it might just live up to that potential. (Sigh.) For now, it’s doing great as an easy outfit for someone who’s run out of their decision-making abilities by the end of the week."

Call me a serial outfit repeater or a creature of habit, but when I find a look I like, I stick with it. Which doesn't bother me in normal times, but fast forward 11 months into working-from-home life, and this creature is sick of wearing sweatpants and no makeup. So when Merit—the well-edited clean beauty line of seven surprisingly affordable makeup essentials—launched last month, I knew it was the jumpstart I needed to get myself feeling good again. It's not as if I ever spend more than 20 minutes on my makeup routine to begin with, but I've gotten used to basically doing nothing, which is why Merit was so appealing to me. It's not fussy or complicated. I don't need to think about what to use because the line is everything I'd need to naturally enhance my face: a complexion stick, makeup brush, highlighter, blush, lipgloss, brow gel, and mascara.

So I challenged myself to do a slightly different take on my favorite minimal makeup every single day of the week, (even if it was just some color on my lips and cheeks), and get dressed in something I'd happily wear to the office (which in this case was, of course, my living room). I was feeling real adventurous for a Monday and pulled out a pair of jeans! Without an elastic waistband! And a button closure! Sure felt weird, so I had to add an oversize plaid shacket, which is basically just a really nice blanket, to bring myself back to reality.

My makeup? I was feeling a monochromatic look with hints of terracotta all over. I started with the Minimalist ($38), which is a complexion stick, to cover up some discoloration around my nose, brows, and under-eye area. I used my ring finger to tap and blend it all in. I love the Shade Slick in Au Naturel ($24) but instead of using it on my lips, I opted to try some on my cheeks— the color is just too good not to! Then I used the Flush Balm in Terracotta ($28) on my lips and lids. The color is so creamy and warm, it really brought my look together. Actually, the Clean Lash ($26) and Brow 1980 ($24) brought my look together. I kid you not: This is the best brow product I've ever tried. The brown is spot on, and when you use the spoolie to brush your brows up and down (this helps coat all the hairs), you'll end up with the most perfect fluffy arches.

Black and brown is the most underrated combo. Don't @ me. There's just something about this look that's the epitome of WFH style: all business up top (an on-trend collared knit and braid will do that for you), but secretly it's still the weekend from the waist down. And you know what, I never thought I'd be someone who wears socks with sandals, but here we are.

Tuesday's makeup was all about fresh skin and lashes. I used the Minimalist ($38) all over, and instead of using my fingers, I used the Brush No 1. ($30) and blended up and out. This is one of the only makeup brushes I can see myself using regularly. It really just helps the product melt into skin and looks so, so natural. I pressed a little bit of the Flush Balm in Beverly Hills ($28) to the apples of my cheeks and used my fingers to tap the product in. Then I followed up with a healthy dose of the Day Glow in Cava ($30) above my brows and cheekbones, down my nose, and on my Cupid's Bow. I applied a few generous coats of the Clean Lash ($26) to my top and bottom lash lines to really open up my eyes. And topped it all off with a little bit of Shade Slick in Marrakech ($24) on my lips. I used the applicator to lightly dab the color on and used my ring finger to tap and blend it all in.

I wore jeans two days in a row, so I deserved to wear a comfy pair of pants. These silky bottoms are actually pajamas—gasp! But they're chic! And look like real pants! Especially when paired with a cozy sweater, lots of layered necklaces, and an extremely cute pair of mules.

Since I went cozy on the outfit, I kind of felt like going bold with my makeup, and by bold, I mean with a berry lip and big plush brows. Honestly, I'm not a huge berry-lip person, but the Shade Slick in Sangria ($24) actually gives the perfect just-bitten color. It's the Goldilocks of lip colors (or Goldilips, if you will). It's not too much or too subtle, it's just right. I dabbed on a little bit of the Flush Balm in Cheeky ($28) to my lids and fluffed up my brows by brushing them up and down until I was happy with the shape.

Thursday I was back on my A-game with a pair of cropped high-waist wide-leg jeans and a super classy cashmere polo sweater with embellished buttons. Sparkly buttons deserve the spotlight, so I kept the rest of my accessories to a minimum.

Since I was wearing a high-neck top, I wanted to keep my makeup extra light. I basically only used three products: The Minimalist ($38), which I used all over my face, applying the brush in an up and out motion; a hint of the Flush Balm in Terracotta ($28) on my cheeks; and Shade Slick in Au Naturel ($24) on my lips. I really loved the creamy orange-brown paired with my deep green top.

I made it through the work week and had to close it out with a bang. I went full-on party mode. I paired my favorite feather-trimmed bottoms with a white tee and a light brown cardigan (I wasn't lying when I said I love a good black and brown look!) and some slides.

If my outfit doesn't scream Friday, then my makeup sure does. I was extra excited for the weekend and even though date night looks a lot different these days, I was genuinely happy to get myself dolled up. I went all out using the usual suspects: The Minimalist ($38), Brow 1980 ($24), and the Clean Lash ($26). I also used the Flush Balm in Beverly Hills ($28) on my cheeks and eyes. I used my ring finger to dab multiple layers onto my lids to create a perfectly imperfect wash of color. To finish, I added a hint of the Shade Slick in Pink Beet ($24) to my lips and called it a day.

I'm that person who has a closet full of clothes but always just re-wears the same outfits over and over again. At this point, whenever I get online to shop, I know to go straight to the pieces that fit the same vibe as my go-to's because that's all I'm likely to put to use. Right now, it's "winter" in Los Angeles (as in, sometimes it gets below 65°) so my tall boots, cardigans, long-sleeve midi dresses, and sweats are really getting their moment to shine in my rotation. Looking for some super-chic but extremely easy-to-put-together looks that, IMO, never get old? I got you. MONDAY

This blazer just does it for me, and for a lot of fashion girls (peep my co-worker Michaela rocking the same one) for that matter. When it comes to L.A. dressing, I usually layer it over a sleeveless turtleneck tank so I don't get too hot. For a fancier day, I could pair this with tailored trousers and heels, but on this occasion, I wanted to keep it a bit more casual and hop in my favorite straight-leg jeans and my new western booties.

TUESDAY

I can't even count on two hands the number of midi dresses I own. They're the easiest piece of clothing to style, as they require zero other garments. The puff-sleeves on this one make me feel way chicer without even trying. Today, I opted for knee-highs, but sneakers or sandals in the summer are always contenders as well. And although I'm not necessarily going anywhere, I thought this way-more-expensive-than-it-looks maroon purse just really needed to come out.

WEDNESDAY

I think I've said this perhaps a million times, but I will say it again: I love neutrals. I think they're truly so easy to pair together because nothing is really off-limits. They all work! I'm very into this combo right here because both fabrics are just thick enough for a crisp morning but won't make me overheat as the day warms up.

THURSDAY

Whether it's January or June, this is the outfit people probably see me in the most. I have several black and white tanks and tees that get put on rotation throughout the year and don't even get me started on my collection of jeans. This season, I've been very into the wide-leg fit as it's a sneaky way to feel like you're wearing PJs, without looking like it. Throw on some sunnies, a black shoulder bag, and boots, and you are instantly ready for anything. (In this case, a trip to the farmer's market.)

FRIDAY

A matching set, especially in 2020, is a must-have for any L.A. girl's closet. I usually end the week in one because let's be honest: I'm just over it by Friday. I'm usually working in bed for most of the day with my coffee and croissant (Friday is a treat yourself kind of day, you know?), so anything sans buttons is just really nice. I'm obsessed with this particular set because not only is it comfy for lounging around, but it's 100% acceptable to wear out and about.

Do you ever do something just to prove to yourself that you can? That's precisely what happened to me this past week when I put myself up to the challenge of wearing dresses—and only dresses—for an entire week straight. I decided enough was enough: I'd only worn sweatpants and the occasional pair of denim for the past month or more, and it was time to switch things up for my sanity. I'll let you be the judge, but I'm pretty sure my seven 'fits were fire. I'd 100% wear each of these again (and plan to!).

MONDAY

I came in hot this Monday with a full look to get ready for a long day of video meetings. Leather and faux leather are having such a huge moment right now, and I'm 100% here for it. My favorite part about this particular long-sleeve dress isn't the material and it isn't even that rich olive color either; it's the built-in belt, which cinches in at the waist quite nicely if I do say so myself. I wore a turtleneck bodysuit underneath, which by the way is my most-worn basic this time of year, because it was a little chilly.

TUESDAY

If you don't believe what you wear affects your mood, then I recommend you buy this dress. I couldn't not be happy all day while wearing it thanks to that really fun fall-floral print. Throwing a cozy sweater around my shoulders is my go-to move lately when I'm running outside for a quick walk around my neighborhood. It looks cute but is also really practical.

WEDNESDAY

I technically lied before when I said I didn't wear denim all week, as exhibited by this denim minidress. I couldn't help but throw this one on with a plaid blazer for an easy, polished mid-week look. Pro tip: Wearing a blazer and loafers while WFH, even if no one in the world sees you, will make you feel like a boss.

THURSDAY

I'm a big proponent of a head-to-toe black and white look regardless of the season. Here's an example of how I'm wearing the chic color combo right now: a printed minidress, a black faux-leather blazer (a smart investment IMO), and black lug-sole boots with white stitching.

FRIDAY

I'm not going to lie—I saw this dress so many times on Instagram that I was really excited to finally own it myself. It can easily be styled with sneakers, but for something a bit more elevated (at-home date night anyone?), tights and heeled leather boots are the way to go.

SATURDAY

This is one of my favorite short-sleeve summer dresses, styled here for winter (an L.A. winter, that is). This cropped denim jacket surprisingly gets so much use because I love the way it looks paired over just about any maxi dress. And because it's weekend, you know I'm wearing my favorite Converse high-tops.

SUNDAY

This ultra-soft sweater dress is the closest thing to wearing sweatpants without actually wearing sweatpants. It's arguably even more comfortable because of that whole not having an elastic waistband thing. Although I wore mostly socks this day (because hello, Sunday) I styled the dress with Western-style ankle boots for a quick jaunt to the grocery store.

I'm going to warn you upfront: There are a lot of Chelsea-boots outfits in this story. I'm honestly surprised my chunky oxfords didn't make more appearances because, between the two, I hardly wear any other shoe style outside of the summer months. There are many who will assert the false notion that California doesn't have seasons, but I'm here to tell you that once October hits, there is a certain je ne sais quoi to California's crisp air that you know if you're from here. It's unmistakable, and when it comes, so do my tried-and-true outfits. I love layering mock necks, turtlenecks, and sweaters, whether they have sleeves or not, and tucking them into high-waisted jeans and skirts of all lengths. Then I reach for my Chelseas or oxfords, and my outfit is set. I hardly need to accessorize, especially if I'm feeling lazy, and because I'm in L.A., the layers keep me cozy throughout the day. But I assure you, add an on-trend workwear jacket or leather trench to any of these outfits, and you're set for all sorts of weather.

MONDAY

Layering a sweater over a ribbed mock-neck tee and tucking it all into a pair of relaxed jeans is just the thing I need to look polished on a Monday while still feeling cozy and comfortable as I work from home. The key is finding fitted knits that seamlessly tuck into your waistline without bunching. You may remember me swearing off heels for the foreseeable future, but that was July, and as the months have worn on, I've realized an easy pair of heeled boots can really transform going out for a sidewalk glass of wine with my sweetheart. And sometimes, that's just how we need to ease ourselves into the workweek.

On particularly jam-packed days of editing, writing, and meetings, I have to throw on an outfit that makes me take myself more seriously. This black midi skirt always gets me in the right headspace; I put it on and suddenly I'm in the zone and don't really leave my dining-room-desk situation until the tsunami is over. It especially works when I tuck in a ribbed-knit turtleneck and pull my hair into a high pony, creating an illusion of a long neck I really love. It's just two pieces that you can throw on without thinking and immediately look and feel good. Finishing with chunky metal earrings and a pair of Chelsea boots for dog walks and grocery-store runs will help you feel like you're doing more than just running errands, too.

My absolute go-to look any day of the week: sweater, rigid blue denim, and Chelsea boots. Make it of-the-moment with a collared sweater, but always know that this outfit will be here for you when you need it most. I always wear my grandmother's gold rings, but any little touch of gold jewelry will take this look up a notch.

THURSDAY

Do I look a bit like a British schoolgirl? Yes, and you could say it's a style I covet in the fall and winter months. I really love doing a partial tuck of this boxy mock-neck top into a miniskirt and sealing it all up with sheer tights and chunky oxfords. Clipping half my hair back with a barrette really finishes the look for me, and I love the irregular pearls on this one. This outfit looks great with an oversize wool workwear jacket, and—hot tip for next spring—it also looks super cute with a pair of white canvas sneakers sans tights.

FRIDAY

When the end of the week rolls around, I just want to reach for my classic black skinny jeans and an easy top and call it a day. I love these short-sleeve fuzzy cardigans that elevate a denim look with seriously no effort. I could tuck it in or leave it out; layer another sweater or shacket on top; button it all the way or open it up a bit—you get the point: This outfit is easy and versatile, and you're going to look fresh and cute even if you wore your Chelsea boots every day that week.
