Nordstrom's May 2026 Half-Yearly Sale is happening right now, which means up to 50% through June 1. With only a few days left before items return to full price, I rounded up the best deals in the shoe section. As I browsed, I decided to skip the trendy styles and instead curate a list of timeless pairs that will stand the test of time: ballet flats, kitten-heel sandals, loafers, boots, and low-heel pumps.

Whenever there's a Nordstrom sale, I have a handful of brands I check first, such as Tory Burch. This time, my favorite sale item from the designer is the 30%-off Minnie Travel Ballet Flats. For those looking ahead to fall, the label's Violet T-Strap Flats are also marked down.

Among the other top-tier designer investment pieces, I was surprised to see Manolo Blahnik's stunning Carolyne Genuine Calf Hair Slingback Pumps discounted by 40%. For under-$100 options, there are a few from Marc Fisher: the $90 Arcee Sandals, the $96 Gradi Flats, and the $98 Antonia Sandals.

If you're looking for an excuse to go shoe shopping, I recommend Nordstrom's winter sale. If I could only buy one pair across all of the discounts, I'd choose the Stuart Weitzman Minimalist Slide 50 Sandals.

In the boot selection, there are highlights such as Vince's Harlan Knee-High Boots, Tony Bianco's Fantasy Knee-High Boots, and Frye's Kate Block Heel Boots.

There are plenty of standout heels too. Tory Burch has a leopard-printed colorway of the Double T Buckle Pointed-Toe Pumps. As I scrolled, it was my first time seeing heeled loafers from G.H.Bass, the Penny Loafer Pumps. Mansur Gavriel's Ballerina Kitten Heel Pumps are chic as well, and the espresso suede iteration is almost sold out.

November 30 always has that “when the clock strikes midnight” effect—my brain immediately goes into full-blown winter shopping mode for December 1, which happened to fall on Cyber Monday this year.

It feels like the final day to get these discounts before they disappear—and living in NYC, I feel the need to take advantage of the sales to prep for the season ahead.

I scrolled through tons of retailers to find the best cozy winter basics—cashmere sweaters, Uggs, satin pants, sweatpants, and cold-weather accessories—with many still on sale following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Cashmere Sweaters

I've been expanding my sweater collection, including cashmere ones from J.Crew (now 30% off) and Aritzia. I've been loving having a range of silhouettes for variation, such as high V-necks, boatnecks, turtlenecks, and crewnecks.

Uggs

For anyone living on the East Coast, Uggs just feel inevitable. Every editor I know has a pair, and they’re known for being the coziest winter shoe for a reason—from the Tasman X to the Classic Ultra Mini.

Satin Pants

Satin and silk pants have been trending—they’re comfortable yet still look elevated. The popular Fluid Bias Pant by Vince was styled in The Great Try-On Fall 2025 in the Rose Jam colorway. Reformation is well known for its versions, too.

Since The Row made jelly shoes a thing again last summer with its colorful, netted Mara flats (which the brand stopped making in a very The Row move), the buzz around the jelly-shoe trend has reached a fever pitch, and more and more brands are releasing their takes on jelly sandals. One of the most popular styles this season is Vince's Barcelona Jelly Sandals. This style initially caught my attention because I found the closed-toe flat-mule shape to be elevated and unexpected. They come in a handful of excellent colors, and the PVC material is a bit cloudy and muted, which I also love. They're a far cry from the jelly sandals I wore as a kid in the '90s.

I was recently perusing Nordstrom and noticed that it was now stocking the Barcelona Sandals in Red. After a quick search, I found that it was the only retailer selling the red option, and since the other available colors have been selling out left and right everywhere, I immediately ordered them. The first time I wore them was for a busy, long day during a quick weekend trip, so they were on my feet from 8:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the evening. I paired them with an all-black outfit, and they looked quite chic, if I do say so myself. What shocked me the most about Vince's Barcelona Jelly Sandals is that they were honestly more comfortable than sneakers. The inner sole has a nice cushion to it, and the PVC of the jelly sandals is incredibly soft and flexible. Even though I walked a ton, there was nary a blister in sight.

At $198, they're on the higher end for jelly sandals, but I can say with confidence that they're 100% worth it. Take my advice and order them before they're all gone. Keep scrolling to do so.

The sales are quite epic this year. So yes, I'm shopping—a bit for myself, but mainly for those in my inner circle who have asked for recommendations. Basically, all of my favorite stores and labels have legit sales right now, but I'm very into the deals at Nordstrom, Vince, Zara, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

I'm particularly fond of the lovely cashmere sweaters—I have knits I've worn for years. In addition, the coats are stunning, feeling classic yet forward. The other items like trousers and shoes are also top-notch. So you can imagine my excitement when this fashion editor-loved retailer launched its epic Black Friday sale.

In this roller coaster year of ups and downs, I've sat on the news of buying and renovating my first home. The process has been eye-opening, exciting, alarmingly adult, and an exercise in gratitude (and patience) every day.

It's also been a new, welcome creative outlet. I’ve loved picking out paint samples, tile, and sourcing furniture, and I’ve especially loved designing my closet from scratch. As someone who used to pray daily that her rotted-wood closet bar wouldn't buckle under pressure (and relied heavily on rolling racks), I still can’t believe I have a walk-in! After installation, I’d find myself wandering in and out of the empty room, a giddy smile plastered on my face. It felt fresh and full of hope. I didn’t want to sully the space with anything that no longer brought me joy.

A new home means new beginnings, and I wanted to honor that with a well-curated wardrobe. I am deeply sentimental, so this proved to be harder than I thought it would, but I did it. I now live in a color-coded reality of tightly edited pieces (I know—who am I?) and you know what? It feels good.

My romance with wide legs has come to an end. Instead, I'm turning to slip skirts to add a little volume. They're also an easy way to weave texture into your look, be it with silk, velvet, or satin.

Something about sliding on a pair of stockings makes me feel like I'm in a Helmut Newton photograph. I instantly feel stronger and sexier and will be pairing these with minis to channel my inner Bardot.

REACHING FOR: TO-THE-POINT PUMPS

While fun, a strappy lucite heel doesn't age well. After heavy rotation, the pair I relied on for every wedding was discolored and stained. I'm replacing it with a no-nonsense pump that feels equal parts business and pleasure.

In the early days of the pandemic (what a time) when I was largely relegated to lazing around in my pj's, I got into the habit of dressing them up with fun jewelry. The look was for my eyes only, yet it never failed to lift my mood. 

Fast-forward three years, and a lot of those pj's were still in rotation, albeit worse for the wear. A new house felt ripe for channeling my inner bombshell energy every day. I tossed out anything in bad shape, replacing it with luxe-feeling loungewear that feels as sumptuous as it looks.

For a dinner out in New York, Taylor Swift pulled together an autumn-ready outfit we’ll be copying all season long. Joining friends Zoë Kravitz and Greta Gerwig, Swift stepped out in a sleek LBD, brown wool coat and the season's favourite black knee high boots for a casual evening outfit that has us itching to replicate the style at home.

As we sit in the sweet-spot of early autumn, where the last remnants of summer's breeze dutifully linger and autumn's leaves begin to fall, we're presented with a rare few perfect weeks to style some of our favourite outfit combinations, whilst the weather permits, such as a jumpers and sandals, or bare legs and knee boots.

Taylor Swift styled a brown wool coat from Vince, £840, with a black LBD, black Pumppie Botta Leather boots from Christian Louboutin, £1,570 and a black handbag.

Opting for the latter, Swift styled her black knee boots with a black mini dress, omitting tights for the warmer evening. To ensure she stayed warm all night, Swift styled her look with a houndstooth coat from Californian brand Vince.

This isn't the first time Swift has fallen back on this simple styling solution, just yesterday the singer was spotted styling a little red dress with brown knee-high boots and an oversized, longline denim jacket.

My review: I've been spotting fashion people wearing white T-shirts underneath V-neck sweaters recently, which is a subtle yet cool way to style wardrobe staples. While I've tried this out with pieces I already have in my closet, the necklines on the sweaters I own have been too low or too close to the neck. The neckline on Vince's, however, is perfect to expose just the right amount of the white tee underneath. Plus, both pieces are finished in lightweight fabrics that are primed for my spring looks.

My review: When I was deciding which pieces from Vince to test-drive, I knew that I needed to try out the brand's TikTok-viral satin pants—an item that has been everywhere on my social feed recently. The pants definitely live up to the hype. They are at once comfortable and elevated thanks to the luxe satin fabric and can be dressed up or down, depending on the styling. Here, I paired them with a boxy shirt-jacket, but I also plan to wear them with a button-down or cozy sweater for a polished look to wear for upcoming flights.

My review: This piece combines two trends into one piece: aviator jackets and leather puffers. The jacket is so plush that it almost feels like wrapping yourself in a duvet. If you've been considering adding an aviator jacket to your wardrobe this season, you probably won't want to take this hyper-cozy version off.

My review: One piece that has been glaringly missing from my wardrobe? Sleek tank tops. I've been in a major '90s mode recently and have been gravitating toward pieces with barely-there straps, and this tank nails the pared-back style from the decade perfectly. Here, I wore it with Vince's Casual Pants—a washed style that feels cozy and lived-in the moment you put it on. I love the tonal look but would also style the tank top with a slip skirt or jeans for a date-night outfit.

I was (fashionably) late to the jeans party. My first foray into pants was experimenting with my mom’s old stirrup leggings, but beyond that, dresses and skirts were strictly my jam. Anything with separate legs felt restrictive and as far as hemlines were concerned, the shorter the better. 

That all changed when I discovered vintage in high school. Turned on to the "joy of the hunt” by a friend, I became obsessed with the adrenaline rush of discovering one-of-a-kind pieces. My previous grievances against pants were quickly forgotten when I fell for a pair of perfectly worn-in Levi’s. This was holy grail denim: buttery soft, slightly androgynous, and in the most perfect sky blue wash. I was hooked, and my repertoire expanded quickly: frayed cutoffs in lieu of miniskirts, indigo bootcut jeans over slip dresses. My sweaters were set aside in favor of oversized, distressed denim jackets. I’d turned into a true blue-jean baby. 

Denim still factors heavily in my closet. I’m in jeans almost every day. Recently, I crossed over to the dark side. Black jeans create a totally different look, and I was keen to switch things up. Revamping my denim drawer made me feel like I was in high school again, chasing a high through different cuts and washes. If you’ve recently fallen into a denim rut, read on to revitalize your black denim spark.

The perfect travel day outfit. The high crew neck is cozy and less restrictive than a turtleneck while a wide-leg faded jean is instantly more interesting than leggings or skinny jeans. Sneakers and a cute claw clip will keep you zipping through TSA to pre-board. 

A foolproof everyday look. Layering a colorful cardi will brighten even the grayest day. Straight-leg rigid denim is a subtle homage to the '90s, and patent leather lug soled boots are functional while staying on-trend.

Your to-do list is longer than a CVS receipt, and you need your getup to look as sharper than you feel. Keep it simple with a blazer-and-tee combo, then add some interesting texture with an over-the-shoulder striped sweater.

Date night on the books? A lace-edged cami and sky-high strappy stilettos add sex appeal, while baggy cropped jeans anchor the look. Top it all off with a delicate gold chain to highlight that collarbone.

Appearing on camera can inspire stage fright even in the boldest of us. Wondering what to wear for said appearance can be downright nerve-racking! As an actress whose first love was fashion, I’ve always welcomed the opportunity to find character through wardrobe, but I’m not without my missteps. (There was a feather-and-sneezing accident I’d like to pretend never happened.)

Finding an outfit to wear on camera may seem like a tricky task, but it doesn’t have to be. After putting myself on tape dozens of times this last year, I have a few tried-and-true methods for looking good onscreen. You’ve likely heard some advice (Avoid white! Prints are distracting! Red reads orange!), but the reality is there are no hard-and-fast rules. What’s key is keeping your skin tone and backdrop in mind. And even if the closest you come to acting is playing it cool when your elevator neighbor sneezes, these tips will translate to your next FaceTime or Zoom.

The main goal here is to get you feeling comfortable and confident—the rest will come naturally. So take a deep breath, and let’s get you ready for your close-up.

A Solid Tank or Tee

Never underestimate the power of a good tank or tee. I have an arsenal of four or five that I rotate between. Having a few different necklines on deck keeps things interesting.

A Crisp Button-Down

If the occasion calls for something more professional, reach for one of these well-tailored shirts.

Note: While I typically gravitate towards oversized button downs, I always choose a fitted option for on-camera. 

A Colorful Cardigan

A burst of color looks beautiful on camera. Throw one of these cardigans over the aforementioned tanks to make an impression.

Delicate Jewelry

I love a layered jewelry look IRL but find it's best to keep accessories to a minimum onscreen. 

Texture

Textured fabrics add dimension and read well on camera. 

A Hint of Pattern

Wearing pattern on camera can be a controversial topic. Finding ones that strike the right balance of fun and functional will help you stand out.

I’m a warm-weather girl. I was born in Southeast Asia, grew up in Texas, and call Los Angeles home. But when Paris beckoned my junior year of college, I answered, bien sur. Shopping for winter wear, I was dazzled by visions of sipping mulled wine as snowflakes settled in my lashes. Our obsession with striped knits continues (this & Other Stories turtleneck being a frontruner), cashmere is becoming evermore available on the high street, and we know precisely which jumper styles looks best with jeans. Welcome to The Great Try-On. We're gearing up for fall, and that includes freshening up our wardrobes with some new pieces. We got to try on some of the best fall pieces from some of your favorite brands and documented it all from our at-home dressing rooms so that you can see how they actually look IRL. We hope that our photos and candid reviews will help you shop for fall wardrobe builders and trend-forward pieces that you'll wear over and over this season and beyond.

Basics are my jam—period. While I certainly invest in statement-making finds from time to time (bags, for example), I gravitate toward those simple pieces when shopping because the more versatile picks in question often become the foundational elements of my go-to looks.

I turn to a variety of stores when sourcing said basics. But if I'm after an elevated piece that I know will last and stand the test of time, Vince is a no-brainer for me. The brand consistently stocks some of the chicest basics around. On that note, I actually had the opportunity to try on a range of new fall styles.

While testing out the latest designs and, you know, serving the looks in front of my mirror, I uncovered a few special gems that could easily become new staples for me. Each pick hit my main criteria for a potential go-to piece—easy to style, comfortable, and modern.

My review: You can't beat Vince cashmere. It's heavenly. This style in the pretty camel is so soft (it's like a warm hug), and it's a perfect weight—not too thin and not too thick. I'm into wrapping a knit around my shoulders to bring extra depth to my looks or wearing it as is to be extra cozy.

My review: I basically live in button-down shirts these days because you can style them with so many different items. This white shirt is a wonderful base layer made from breathable cotton.

My review: As I mentioned above, Vince cashmere is where it's at. Well, this bouclé knit is also quite noteworthy. It has coastal-chic vibes (I adore it with light-wash jeans) and is very soft with the interesting textured fabric.

My review: If I'm investing in a staple, a jacket is often one area I'll spend a little more on if it's classic yet modern. The thought process there is that an A+ outerwear piece will last for years and years. This suede number is a fantastic example of that—stunning.

My review: This is just a really great tee. I rarely wear red, but I'm into the contrast between that color and the brown suede in the jacket.

Ever since I saw her in Mr. and Mrs. Smith wearing that white, eyelet two-piece set, I've been completely and irrevocably obsessed with Angelina Jolie's style. (Sure, she probably didn't have a say in that outfit given that it was part of her costume, but that's a discussion for another day.) From her days spent in leather trousers and vintage tees to her modern-day rotation of hyper-elegant trousers and dresses, there's pretty much nothing in Jolie's wardrobe that doesn't look impeccable. And her latest outfit is hardly an exception.

This week, the Eternals actress was spotted in La Jolla doing some grocery shopping with her son Knox in a simple, white sundress from Vince, paired with an oversize cardigan, a white Dior shoulder bag, and matching flat Valentino slides. As always, the look was refined and chic, especially her dress, which is arguably the prettiest and most uncomplicated style, well, ever. The white dress checks every box: it's easy, since wrap dresses are notoriously simple to wear and style; and it has pockets, because who doesn't want a dress with pockets?
