Back in 2006, what combination was more prevalent among L.A. It girls than Ugg boots and a Chanel bag? I'll wait. We saw them worn together with low-rise bootcut jeans and crop tops or rolled over sweatpants or sweatshorts with a shrunken zip-up hoodie. I’m a Gen Z fashion editor, but now and then, a millennial-coded outfit will inspire me. I've never been one to look glam at the airport, and I'm okay with that. As long as I'm not pulling up to the terminal in hole-ridden sweatpants and a stained college tee, I consider it a win. Regardless of where you’re from, Uggs were the teenage footwear of choice for the longest time. Growing up in Boston, a certain widespread “outfit formula” is etched into my brain: a Dunkin’ Donuts drink, a Coach purse, and Uggs—the holy trinity of middle-and high-schoolers across the city.

My review: The Ugg Classic Tall II Boot is everything celebrities have loved about the fuzzy, early aughts style, albeit in a taller silhouette. The iconic sheepskin lining is as plush and cloud-soft as ever, instantly warming your feet without feeling overly heavy. The taller shaft adds extra coziness on colder days and pairs beautifully with leggings, jeans, or even oversize sweaters for that effortless, cozy-chic look.

One thing that genuinely surprised me was the calf fit. With a 17.5-inch calf, I usually struggle with tall boots, but these slipped on without a fight. They fit comfortably on their own or with thinner layers like leggings or fleece-lined tights. That said, the shaft isn’t wide enough for thicker fabrics—I definitely can’t wear them with bulkier pants, jeans, or those classic early 2000s tracksuits celebrities used to tuck into their Uggs.

While the boots are treated, they’re still not truly weatherproof. I wore mine out in the rain, and they picked up dirt and water marks surprisingly easily even during my short walk around my block. Without an additional waterproof or dirt-repellent spray, they can start to look worn faster than you’d expect. (Although, frankly, I'm kind of into the look. C'est vintage, as the youngsters say.)

Overall, the Classic Tall II delivers on the nostalgia factor while feeling elevated enough for modern wardrobes. If you already love Uggs, the tall version is a natural—and very comfortable—upgrade, as long as you give them a little extra care.

If you had told me a few months or even days ago that one of my style icons would bring back the winter boot trend I practically lived in during grade school, I would have laughed it off. The shoe designers at Ugg are getting creative, and we love to see it. The new shoes, which I'm going to go ahead and say are *the* winter 2025/2026 It Uggs, are a departure from the brand's usual cozy boots and mules, but they feature the trademark signature fur lining with a leather or suede outer. As the summer of 2025 wraps up, I have my sights set on fall shoes—one of the first things I shop for as the season approaches each year. And here's a tip: If you want to know what the It shoes (or just shoe trends in general) will be for an approaching season, all you really need to do is take a look at The Row's new arrivals.
