"After the pandemic, people began placing much more value on experiences over material purchases, and lucky for us travel agents, honeymoons naturally became part of that trend," Wallach says. Malik agrees, noting that travel has become "more intentional and experience-driven as a whole" in the years since.

As Malik puts it, they're determined to make it just as special as the wedding day itself.

Both advisors note that hotels featured in shows like The White Lotus and spotted on a celebrity's feed frequently land on client mood boards, sourced from Instagram and TikTok saves as much as traditional research. But neither planner describes this as chasing clout for its own sake. As Wallach puts it, "most clients are prioritizing the overall experience rather than simply staying somewhere famous." The real challenge, both agree, is translating a dreamy screenshot into a realistic budget since a villa that looks perfect online can easily run $8000 to $15,000 a night before taxes and fees. The honeymoon, in other words, hasn't just gotten more expensive. It's become a fully considered creative project, and couples are willing to spend accordingly to get it exactly right.

The service was incredible, I couldn't feel safer, and every amenity was top-tier. I'm still getting questions about the videos and photos I posted of its wellness center. If I had to recommend just one hotel from my time in Greece, this would be it.

Where to Dine

The Mango team spent weeks on end researching the best places to dine, and I also did some exploration myself, so I have to share my findings. Upon arrival in Hydra, we slipped off to Xeri Elia for a fresh seafood meal outdoors, and it's a meal I am still thinking about a few weeks later. A coffee at Oven made me want to come back again and again for more. (There are locations in both Athens and Mykonos.) I stumbled across Roka Mykonos, which just opened in the new Fouquet's Mykonos, and had the perfect sushi dinner. I'll long remember Linou Soumpasis & Co for an incredible meal overlooking the water.

'80s Vibe

I wanted to make a statement with my final look on the work part of the trip, and that's exactly what I did. If you ever think your outfit is too much, you just might be onto something. Keep going in that direction.

Classic Red Dress

A perfect vacation dress is equal parts effortless and glam. I found this red dress so incredible that I wore it twice—once for my work dinner in Athens and then again for a solo meal in Mykonos.

As someone who loves to travel, having an upcoming trip to look forward to is basically the key to happiness. And whilst I enjoy a long-haul flight somewhere further afield (yes, I even like the plane food), nothing beats a quick jaunt over to the sunnier side of Europe, does it? I've been lucky enough to have a couple of trips to Italy so far this year, but I couldn't be more excited to head back to Croatia.

It's been a good few years since I visited for Outlook Festival, but I do remember a few key details that'll make it easier to pack this time round. Shoulder-season travel to warm places that aren't quite operating at full capacity yet are among my favorite trips to take. There's a quality to it that's hard to replicate in peak summer: fewer people, more room to breathe, more affordable hotel rates, and the sense that a place is still mostly itself. Menorca in the spring fits that exactly.

Of all the Balearics, Menorca is the least built up in the best way. Even Formentera, which used to be the sleepiest of the islands, has developed more of a pulse in recent years, but Menorca has stayed quiet in a way that feels almost deliberate. There isn't a huge amount to do here in the traditional sense. Days are simple and elemental: long seafood lunches by the water, dramatic wild beaches that require real effort to reach, swimming in water that is genuinely some of the clearest in the Mediterranean thanks to the posidonia seagrass that grows along the seabed and keeps it that way. When you're not at the beach, you're roaming around Ciutadella's old town, poking around the fishing villages along the coast, shopping in Mahón, or making the trip out to Hauser & Wirth on its own private island.

I went to Menorca in late April and into early May, when the island was just starting to shake itself awake for the season, and I'm officially convinced that it was the perfect time to visit. Almost everything had just reopened for the season, the temperatures were divine, and I had the beaches largely to myself. By summer, the island fills up. Parking gets tricky, the best beaches require early starts, restaurants require reservations made well in advance, and the whole experience shifts from peaceful to something a bit more planned around logistics than spontaneity.

A few things to understand before you go to Menorca: You need a car or, at minimum, a scooter, which you can rent at the airport. The island has one main road, the Me-1, which runs east–west through the center, and smaller roads branch off toward towns and beaches. Because it doesn't follow the coastline and many beaches are reached via secondary roads, distances that look short on a map often take longer in reality.

Therefore, where you stay sets the tone for how you experience the island. The island divides roughly into three distinct coastlines, each with a different character. The southwest, close to Ciutadella, is the most scenically beautiful. This is where you find the iconic Menorca: hidden coves with impossibly turquoise water, pale sand, and towering limestone cliffs that drop into still, luminous seas. Many of the best beaches require a 20–30 minute walk to reach, but the reward is that cinematic, almost tropical clarity that defines the island's reputation. The southeast, around Mahón, or Maó as it's commonly known, is more accessible and structured. There's easier beach access, more infrastructure, and a livelier harbor-side feel, still offering that same clear water in a more relaxed, everyday setting. The north is something else entirely. It's not about turquoise coves but about raw, exposed landscape: jagged coastline, red-tinged rock, and a wilder, more elemental feel. Shaped by the Tramuntana wind, it feels harsher and more dramatic in a geological sense.

My advice: Don't try to cover the whole island from one base. During this trip, I spent two nights in the southwest near Ciutadella and the rest on the southeast coast near Mahón, which felt about right. If you don't have the time to move around, decide what kind of trip you want—the wilder, more isolated experience or the easier, more connected one—and pick accordingly.

Where to Stay on Menorca

I chose to spend my first two nights on the southwest coast close to Ciutadella and the dramatic beaches and coves that define this part of the island. Vestige Son Vell, a beautifully restored 18th-century manor set on a 450-acre estate, sits close enough to the sea that several smaller coves are reachable on foot directly from the property. Driving along the narrow country lane toward the estate bordered by fertile fields and citrus and olive groves, the scent of warm earth and Mediterranean flora drifts through the open window before I even park. The welcome is warm and unhurried, which sets the tone for everything that follows.

The property is built around the original manor house, with a handful of rooms inside and villas spread quietly across the grounds. The bath products are from Rowse, a Spanish plant-based line that feels entirely in tune with the setting—subtle, botanical, and quietly luxurious, echoing the almost ethereal atmosphere of the estate itself. There are two pools, a yoga pavilion, and an outdoor fitness area. The infrastructure is there if you want it, but nothing feels imposed or overtly resort-like. Dining follows the same philosophy: a main restaurant centered on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients—many drawn directly from the estate's own garden—alongside a more relaxed bar for light meals and evening drinks.

Experimental Menorca is one of the largest of the island's farmstay-style hotels with 43 rooms spread across 74 acres, including nine private villas with their own plunge pools. It offers the most comprehensive setup of the group on this list: a main pool with a lively pool bar suited to long, lingering lunches, a central restaurant serving breakfast and dinner, and a spa in the main house featuring treatments with Biologique Recherche products. The wellness facilities are particularly strong for a hotel of this scale. There's a dedicated yoga and Pilates studio, sauna, and steam room, plus a secluded yoga platform reached via a 10-minute nature hike set above the water. A small cove is also accessible within a short walk from the property, and there's even a working vineyard on-site, reinforcing the estate's sense of place. The hotel's curated concept shop highlights local designers and brands, alongside a carefully selected range of resortwear, accessories, and jewelry perfect for island living. Experimental is also the most energetic of the properties I stayed at, whether due to its size or the loyal following that Experimental hotels tend to draw. The atmosphere is noticeably lively, attracting a healthy mix of couples and families.

Son Blanc is the most bohemian of the hotels I stayed in. It has a rawer, more spiritual sensibility and a deeply personal feel, which feels more like staying in a thoughtfully curated home than a traditional hotel. The farmhouse sits quietly amid olive groves and open countryside, lending it a sense of calm seclusion that defines the entire experience. The saltwater pool overlooks the property's orchard and has its own laid-back bar, and an honesty bar inside the main house invites guests to mix their own drinks at any hour. Food is a central part of life here and is almost entirely organic, much of it grown on-site. Breakfast is homemade and generous, with fresh cakes, frittatas, and a juice station stocked with vegetables picked from the garden that very morning. The restaurant cooks over charcoal, and the daily menu is shaped by whatever the farm and surrounding sea provide. On Wednesday evenings, the hotel hosts a communal long-table dinner, an easy, convivial gathering that reflects the property's emphasis on connection. Fifteen rooms, including one reserved for creatives in residence, are intentionally simple and tactile with organic materials throughout: carved limestone bathtubs, braided textile headboards, and impossibly comfortable beds dressed in soft Merci linens. Yoga sessions and curated experiences reinforce the hotel's slower, more mindful rhythm, and there's a clear sense of community woven into everything.

Torralbenc is about 15 minutes from Mahón, set on a 70-acre estate of vineyards and olive groves that you drive through on the approach. You arrive at a cluster of low, whitewashed farm buildings framed by cypress trees and lavender, their scent lightly perfuming the air. There are just 27 rooms and cottages, all limestone walls, natural textures, and a quietness that feels deliberate. The restaurant, housed in what was once a grape and barrel storeroom, serves a refined take on Mediterranean cooking using produce from the hotel's own gardens, and the wine list is centered on the estate's vintages. That connection to the land carries through to the hotel's wine tastings, featuring guided sessions that walk you through their small-production wines, often paired with local bites. There's a saltwater pool, a small spa with treatment rooms, and a fitness center, but the rhythm here is slower, more grounded in the landscape. What lingers most is the light at the end of the day: the sun dropping over the vineyards, the white buildings holding onto it, the entire property turning a deep, honeyed gold.

Amagatay offers an elevated and upscale farm stay in the southeast—a romantic 20-room adults-only boutique hotel set within a 14th-century estate near Cala'n Porter with the kind of modern amenities and polish that set it apart from the more rustic farmstays in the area. Rooms are spread between the main house and across the property, each with a private terrace or garden. There are two restaurants worth knowing about here: El Olivar, a refined Mediterranean dining room surrounded by olive trees, and SUA Parrilla, a grill restaurant drawing on Basque tradition with premium cuts and farm-to-table vegetables. The pool sits in a shaded area that keeps it comfortable well into the afternoon, and the Sunset Bar is on hand for cocktails as the light changes.

Suggestions for city stays: La Cayena in Ciutadella and Cristine Bedfor Guest Houses in Mahón.

Where I'll stay next time: Fontenille Menorca Torre Vella and the new Vestige Son Ermità and Vestige Binidufà in the north.

Where to Dine on Menorca

In the old city of Ciutadella on the western part of the island, Bar Imperi is something of an institution. Open since the 1940s, it sits beneath stone arches on the Plaça des Born and is the kind of place locals have been coming to for breakfast for generations. Order the llonguet, a small Menorcan bread roll stuffed with sobrasada and honey or Mahón cheese, with a coffee. Nearby, Cafè Balear, a family-run restaurant overlooking the port, is the go-to for seafood. It's been in business for over 50 years and is still sourcing fish daily from their own boat. Order the lobster stew, the island's most classic dish, or the razor clams. Just outside Ciutadella, Nonna Bazaar is in a category of its own with a festive farm-to-table restaurant set in a restored 100-year-old dusty-red farmhouse, drawing on the full breadth of Mediterranean cooking across its 21 countries. The menu is eclectic and meant for sharing, most of it sourced from the farm. Its newer addition, Nonna Beach, brings the same spirit to the coast near Son Saura beach.

In Mahón, the capital on the eastern end of the island, Bar Augustin is a small, unpretentious bistro running a short fixed menu alongside a chalkboard that changes daily with whatever the market is offering, including a good wine list, worth a lunch. Sa Bodega, on the Plaza de la Constitución, is more of a wine bar than a restaurant: cheese boards, anchovies, charcuterie, vermouth. Not a full meal, but a very good stop. Oysters Menorca is known as much for its oysters as for its caviar spaghetti, which has developed something of a following of its own. And Arjau, on the port, is the place for lobster and rice dishes, run by a chef with 30 years behind him. If you're looking for a natural wine or kombucha stop, look no further than Après-Sol, Casa de Aperitivos.

If you're staying in one of the southeast farmstays near Mahón, Es Molí de Foc is worth the short drive to the sleepy local village of Sant Climent, a 19th-century mill converted into a restaurant with one of the best wine cellars on the island. The menu revolves around rice done every way: dry, soupy, black, and a banda, cooked in a deep fish broth.

The seaside spots are among the most memorable meals you'll have on the island. Cap Roig, perched on a cliff above Sa Mesquida cove just north of Mahón, has been an island institution since the 1980s; come for the fresh local seafood, the lobster, the rice dishes, and one of the better views you'll find from a restaurant table in Menorca. Just down at the cove, Bar Sa Mesquida is the simpler, more casual counterpart, serving calamari, monkfish, and cold drinks, with feet practically in the water. Restaurant Tamarindos sits right on the beach at Es Grau, a quiet fishing village on the north coast, and is the kind of place Menorcans have been coming to all summer for decades for rice, fresh fish, tapas, and cocktails as the sun goes down. Pintarroja in Es Castell is an informal, no-frills seafood restaurant on the terrace at Moll den Pons—grilled prawns, fried baby squid, and sardines, string lights overhead and water just a few meters away. Bucaneros Binibeca is less about the food and more about the experience, featuring a white cave bar carved into the cliffside overlooking a small, calm, family-friendly beach. Ivette Beach Club at Cala Morell, on the northwest coast near Ciutadella, is the most polished of the lot—Mediterranean and Spanish dishes, grilled octopus, charred meat, a cocktail bar upstairs with views that make it worth the drive.

No visit to Menorca is complete without a long lunch or sunset dinner in Fornells, a small whitewashed fishing village on a wide natural lagoon famous for its lobster, which you can enjoy at beloved spots like Es Cranc, Sa Llagosta, and Sa Xerxa.

Where to Shop on Menorca

In my opinion, the tiny capital of Mahón is the only worthwhile destination for shopping in Menorca. The souvenir you'll actually want to take home is a pair of handmade espadrilles, the island's most iconic craft. Boba's is the place for original rope-sole espadrilles handmade by one craftsman, Llorenç Pons, entirely from natural materials. S'Abarca does leather avarca sandals, the other Menorcan classic, where you choose your sole and have them made to order in minutes.

Ca s'Esparter is a 200-year-old shop still run by the sixth generation of the same family, selling esparto goods, workwear, and exclusive tees from local hot spots like Cap Roig.

The "fashion with a capital F" girlies should visit Hetra for a cool, curated assortment of Latin brands, from Argentina to Colombia.

Can Sab, a multi-floor shop run by a French woman with a good eye, mixes funky clothing with antique furniture and homeware that you won't find anywhere else.

Tiny House Menorca is where to go for white linen dresses, straw bags, and the kind of simple, wearable pieces you'll want to wear straight out of the shop.

Visit Casalma for organic homeware, like ceramics, textiles, and objects that capture the Menorca aesthetic you'll want to bottle up and bring home with you.

Where to Beach on Menorca

Everyone has their favorites along Menorca's wild southwest stretch, and to be sure, everyone's would include the dramatic and beautiful Cala Macarella and its neighboring cove Cala Macarelleta. The former is a large beach with a restaurant that you access via a 20-minute walk down from the parking lot, while the latter is reached via a 20-minute hike around the cliffside, opening onto a postcard-perfect cove with some of the clearest, most turquoise water on the island.

Cala en Turqueta is a small, pine-fringed cove that requires a flat 20-minute walk down from the parking lot to a calm, shallow bay ideal for swimming, where you'll see people lying on both the sandy beach and along the rocks sheltered by the forest trees.

While it's not as dramatic as the tall cliff-lined coves characteristic of the southwest, I love Son Saura not only for its ease and accessibility (it's only a five-minute walk from the parking lot) but also for its simple, long sandy stretch with perfectly still, clear blue water. You'll see hikers walking along the Camí de Cavalls coastal path, which extends around the island, where you can reach other hidden beaches and coves that feel far removed from the crowds. Stop at Cala Mitjana on your drive east and hike to the quieter Cala Mitjaneta for a scenic dip framed by low limestone cliffs and dense pine forest.

The southeast is known for its more accessible beaches and coves. Among them, Playa de Binibeca is a good family beach with flat turquoise water and a cute restaurant on the sand. For something more raw with relatively easy access but with similar dramatic beauty to the southwest beaches, go to Cala Binidalí.

You'll also find the more local spots in the smaller coves like Cala de Biniparratx, Caló Blanc, and Cala Binissafúller.

The northern coast of Menorca is known for being the island's wilder, more rugged counterpart to the postcard-perfect south. Instead of soft white and calm turquoise coves, the north has a raw, untamed beauty shaped by Tramuntana winds and a very different geology. Beaches along the north coast, like Cala Pregonda and Cavalleria Beach, are famous for their reddish-gold sand, rust-colored cliffs, and darker, sometimes moodier waters. The sea here can still turn clear and blue on calm days, but it's less predictably turquoise than in the south and often feels more elemental. This side of the island is also less developed, with fewer beach clubs and more untouched stretches of coastline.

What to See on Menorca

Beyond the beaches, the restaurants, and the lazy roaming between Mahón and Ciutadella, there are a few experiences in Menorca worth going out of your way for.

Hauser & Wirth Menorca sits on Illa del Rei, a small island in the middle of Mahón harbor, home to a decommissioned 18th-century naval hospital that sits alongside Hauser & Wirth's gallery spaces, restaurant, and shop. You reach it by shuttle boat from the port, about 15 minutes, which is very much part of the experience. The program centers on rotating contemporary art exhibitions by internationally recognized artists, often spanning sculpture, painting, and large-scale installations that respond to the island's landscape and architecture. Beyond exhibitions, the space hosts artist residencies, educational workshops, and public programs, with a strong emphasis on engaging the local community, particularly through partnerships with Menorcan schools, environmental initiatives, and collaborations with local artisans and producers. The Cantina restaurant sits outdoors under an olive grove on the island, serving shared plates of fresh fish, seafood, and vegetables cooked over fire.

Booking a private boat day with a skipper is expensive in Menorca year-round, so it's worth being strategic about your itinerary. I'd recommend focusing on coves and beaches that are difficult to reach by land, particularly those along the southwest coast. There are also northern and southeastern routes available (I booked a southwest route with Boat Charter Menorca), but if you only have one day set aside for a boat trip, the southwest is usually the best choice. The beaches there are some of the island's most beautiful and least accessible on foot, making them especially rewarding from the water. For this route, booking with a boat company that departs from Cala Galdana is ideal, as it puts you close to several of the most iconic nearby coves and allows you to maximise your time swimming and exploring rather than travelling.

Wine tasting at a local winery: Menorca has a small but genuine wine culture, producing mostly reds from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, along with Chardonnay whites and some notable sparkling wines. The most established winery on the island is Bodegas Binifadet, which is just outside Sant Lluís near Mahón. Guided tours run a few times a day in English, ending with a tasting of three wines paired with local goat cheese. There's also a restaurant on-site if you want to stay for lunch or dinner.

Menorca has a long, deeply embedded relationship with horses, which you'll notice immediately in the dressage displays at local fiestas and the equestrian culture woven into daily island life. The best way to tap into that is on the Camí de Cavalls, a 115-mile coastal trail that circles the entire island. The name means "horse path," and it dates back to the 14th century when knights were required to patrol the coastline on horseback. Today, it's a fully restored trail used by hikers, cyclists, and riders, passing through wild nature reserves along clifftops, past prehistoric sites and lighthouses, and down to more than 50 beaches and coves. You don't need riding experience to join a guided tour, and several operators offer sections of the route on horseback, which is far and away the most immersive way to see the parts of the island that don't reveal themselves by car.

One thing about me is I don't need much (if any!) convincing to take a summer road trip—especially if it involves zipping down the legendary Highway 1 in Northern California. This is exactly where my latest adventure took me—a three-day mini road trip across Northern California’s most picturesque routes through Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Big Sur with car rental service Turo.

For those unfamiliar, Turo is an app-based car-sharing marketplace—often described as the "Airbnb of cars"—where individuals and private companies rent out their personal vehicles to others—perfect if you want to skip the headache-inducing long lines at regular car rental counters with limited selections. Instead, Turo gives you access to vehicles that fit the way you actually want to travel, whether that's something electric, luxurious, sporty, spacious, or simply fun to drive. All you do is search your destination pickup point on the app along with the type of car you want, and the options are endless.

What I Drove

I opted for a chic and luxurious Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class 2025 (because if I'm going to cruise down Highway 1, why not do it in utmost comfort and style?). The host sent me all the details in advance on the app, and it was a seamless pickup from San Francisco Airport and a smooth ride all the way to the gorgeous Bernardus Lodge & Spa, my resting place throughout the trip.

Where I Stayed

For three nights, I stayed at Bernardus Lodge & Spa, a luxury 28-acre wine-country retreat nestled in Carmel Valley. The hotel is elegant and incredibly relaxing, surrounded by lush lavender, sun-drenched grapevines and sublime mountain views. My room was incredibly comfortable featuring a two-person soaking tub, plush bathrobes, an inviting fireplace, and intimate dining space inside and outside. It was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration.

Where I Visited

For the next three days, I enjoyed coastal drives, ocean views, and great food and had the chance to try some of Turo's luxury exotic cars to really top off the road trip in style!

Day 1

Point Lobos State Natural Reserve: For epic vistas and one of the richest marine habitats in California, our first stop was Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, often called "the crown jewel of the California State Park system." It's an outstanding spot for sightseeing, photography, picnics, and scuba diving, and home to sea lions, harbor seals, elephant seals, and sea otters as well as unique geological formations and rich flora and fauna. There are tons of amazing hikes you can do. Since we had a full day planned, we did a shorter trail called the Granite Point Trail and Moss Cove Trail, which offer panoramic views of the water and an amazing viewing area above the cove. This place gets busy pretty early, so expect to park on the street if the parking lot is full.

Garrapata State Park: Heading south on Route 1 toward Big Sur, we stopped at Garrapata State Park and walked the easy and atmospheric 0.7-mile Garrapata Buff Trail, which has beautiful, elevated views of the coastline and ocean. On our visit, it was moody, misty, and magical—with waves crashing over rocks and two miles of dramatic beach coastline, with plenty of sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters in the coastal waters.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park: After passing the Bixby Creek Bridge, one of the most iconic landmark's along California's Big Sur coastline, we made a quick stop at the charming Big Sur River Inn General Store, where I picked up some cool souvenirs and delicious burritos before embarking on our final hike of the day at the epic Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. The park offers peaceful trails through towering coastal redwoods, river crossings, and shaded forest canyons in the heart of Big Sur. The trails range from easy, flat walks to more challenging climbs where you're rewarded with stunning canyon views. We did the moderate Pfeiffer Falls hike among the majestic redwoods to a waterfall. It was breathtaking. A must-visit!

Day 2

Monterey Bay Whale Watching: On the second day, we headed north on Route 1 toward Monterey for a two-hour boat trip from Moss Landing—one of the best whale-watching areas in California. It was an incredible experience, where we were lucky enough to see two humpback whales and four blue whales!

Cannery Row, Monterey: Heading back south, we stopped at Monterey's historic waterfront district, Cannery Row, known for its oceanfront views, shops, and restaurants. It's also located right next to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. While it was quite touristy, I rather enjoyed the lively coastal atmosphere.

Carmel Beach: One of my favorite parts of the trip was relaxing at Carmel Beach and Carmel-by-the-Sea Village. The beach is known for its scenic stretch of soft white sand (and often referred to as Carmel White Sand Beach), rugged beauty, cypress trees, and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. It's stunning and just steps from the town's restaurants and bars.

Carmel-by-the-Sea Village: I fell in love with the small town of Carmel-by-the-Sea and its charming restaurants, quaint homes, and amazing stores. (Carmel Home Collection and Olivier Napa Valley were some of my favorite spots.) After a spot of shopping, we had an early dinner at the amazing European bistro La Bicyclette and ended with a sweet treat from one of California's oldest bakeries, Carmel Bakery.

What I Packed

For the short trip, I packed plenty of comfortable and casual clothing for long days driving and exploring. I made sure I brought plenty of practical hiking gear as well as versatile separates and warm layers, as it can get pretty cool in the mornings and evenings. I also packed some pieces that could easily translate from day to night for casual-chic dinners.

As a Survivor fan, I was convinced my first trip to Fiji would involve Jeff Probst, a CBS film crew, and at least one gratuitous B-roll sequence of me gazing dramatically into the distance. Alas, my introduction to the South Pacific nation swapped bamboo shelters for air-conditioned hotel rooms and rice rations for five-star meals. A tough assignment, but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make. (You better believe I still got my pensive, Parvati-worthy footage, however.) After six nights island-hopping around Fiji, I came away with a deep appreciation of the country's natural beauty, chic resorts, and warm hospitality. It's certainly much more than the place where Survivor, Love Island, and Cast Away have filmed, but Fiji's TV and film lore did have me disproportionately delighted nonetheless.

Overview

Situated roughly 1100 miles south of the equator and comprised of over 300 islands in the South Pacific Ocean, Fiji is brimming with coral reefs, world-famous surf breaks, rainforests, white sand beaches, and rich marine biodiversity. And that's just the natural realm. Luxurious resorts, some with overwater bungalows known as bures, draw visitors to top-notch restaurants, indulgent spas, cool bars, and fun beach clubs. And thanks to the friendly Fijian people, you can experience all of the above while wrapped in the warm glow of the bula spirit. In Fiji, you'll often be greeted with the word "bula," but it doesn't simply mean hello—it also represents Fiji's joyful, generous, and welcoming ethos.

Weather: Fiji has a warm tropical climate year-round. November to April is the hotter, rainier season, while May to October typically sees slightly cooler, drier weather.

Getting there: Nadi International Airport (NAN), home to Fiji Airways, is the country's busiest airport. Fiji Airways operates nonstop routes to Nadi from Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW), and Honolulu (HNL). Whichever American city you leave from, be prepared to time-travel across the international date line. I took a late-night flight from Los Angeles on a Tuesday, slept like a baby on my hitch-free Fiji Airways flight, and arrived in Nadi on Thursday morning.

Tip: Nonstop Fiji Airways flights from mainland U.S. typically land in Nadi between 5 and 6 a.m., so consider paying for your hotel room for the previous night so you can check in right away.

Time difference: Fiji does not observe daylight saving time, so the time difference compared to the U.S. will vary depending on the time of year. Fiji is 19 hours ahead of Los Angeles during daylight saving time (mid-March to early November), and 20 hours ahead during standard time (early November to mid-March). This might sound jarring at first, but I honestly found this time difference easier for communicating with my family in California than traveling to Europe.

Where to Stay

As the daughter of an avid surfer, my favorite fun fact about Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay is that it's the closest mainland resort to Cloudbreak, one of the most famous surf breaks in the world (and Kelly Slater's all-time favorite wave). As such, the resort has served as the official host venue for several World Surf League events, including the 2024 Corona Fiji Pro and the 2025 Lexus WSL Finals Fiji. In other words, don't be surprised if you spot pro surfers around the grounds in between south swells.

Another fun fact: This resort boasts the only overwater bures on Viti Levu, Fiji's mainland. Each of these thatched-roof villas (pictured above, in the bottom row) has a private deck with direct access to the tranquil lagoon. Floating in this bathwater-warm turquoise lagoon was by far my favorite thing to do at Momi Bay. Only after my fingers started pruning did I reluctantly decide to swim back to shore.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay has several amazing restaurants. On the ocean-facing side of the resort is Fish Bar, serving up freshly caught seafood and incredibly Instagrammable sunsets. I also loved the chill vibe of Voi Voi Bar (pictured top right), where we ordered beers and took a Fijian cooking class. (Continue to the What to Do section below to see what other activities I tried.)

Here's a bird's-eye view of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay's standalone Fijian bures, both over the water and on the beach. The hotel also has standard rooms housed in two-story buildings along the east side of the lagoon.

Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, was the second stop on my luxury tour of Fiji. Accessible only by boat or helicopter, this island is roughly 21 miles off the coast of Nadi. Our private boat transfer dropped us off directly on the sand (pictured above, bottom left), and I was immediately itching to get in the ocean. There's fantastic and convenient snorkeling directly in front of the resort, where you can see green sea turtles, Nemo-like clown fish, angelfish, and a rainbow of colorful coral. Coral is so abundant, in fact, that Jacques Cousteau famously called Fiji the "Soft Coral Capital of the World."

Post-snorkeling, I cleaned up for dinner and put on a polka-dot dress by Et Ochs and a red woven bag by Apaya, which matched a fallen hibiscus I found and wore behind my ear. Did you know that in Fijian, Hawaiian, Polynesian, and other cultures, wearing a flower on your left ear indicates you're in a relationship or married, and wearing one on your right ear says you're single? I can confidently say that Tokoriki is the most scenic place I've ever taken an outfit photo in, so it obviously went on my IG grid immediately.

Tip: You need to snorkel and rent Jet Skis during high tide because it's too shallow to safely traverse over the coral reef during low tide, so be sure to ask the resort staff for guidance on timing. (You can still swim in the shallow water near the shoreline during low tide, however.) Oh, and please learn from my mistake: Don't forget to apply sunscreen on the back of your legs if you're snorkeling!

Wearing fins, it took me less than five minutes to leisurely swim past the sea grass to reach the edge of the coral reef in front of the Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, pictured above, but you can also hitch a ride on the resort's Jet Ski tows if you prefer.

Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort is a foodie's paradise. It doesn't have as spectacularly clear water and white sandy beaches as the other two hotels I've already discussed above, but it has a much wider range of restaurants and the biggest breakfast buffet I've ever seen.

Newly opened Cellar & Barrel is Fiji’s only dedicated wine and whiskey bar, and the resort's café, 28G, was the only place I found a real matcha latte during my weeklong island-hopping excursion. That's also where I ate the delectable dessert pictured above (bottom right): a crunchy, dark chocolate–coated puffed rice cake topped with mango mousse coated in yellow frosting, finished off with swirls of whipped cream and strawberry slices. I also enjoyed touring the resort's beehives and five-acre farm (pictured top left and bottom left), where seasonal vegetables and fruit are grown on-site for the property's six restaurants and bars.

What to Pack

• Reef-safe sunscreen: As I mentioned, Fiji is known as "The Soft Coral Capital of the World," so pack a reef-safe sunscreen made with mineral UV filters such as non-nano zinc oxide or titanium dioxide instead of chemical sunscreen ingredients. Avoid oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene, and parabens, which have been linked to coral bleaching and harm to marine ecosystems. My colleague recently did an in-depth review of Osea's Marine Screen SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen ($42), which is made with non-nano zinc oxide.
  
  
• Sturdy wide-brim hats with chin straps: Sorry, but your floppy sun hat will not hold up during windy boat rides. You need both a stiff brim and a chin strap to provide adequate sun protection in the wind and to ensure your hat doesn't immediately take flight. The one I'm pictured wearing above is the Your Stylist Says Best Hat ($130). I'm obsessed with this hat, and I've been wearing it for over four years—it's also come with me to Kauai, Oahu, Montecito, and lots of other places. It's not "packable" in the sense that it's not foldable, but the designer, Abby Arad, made this Instagram Reel demonstrating a genius way to stash it in your suitcase. Oh, and Hilary Duff owns it, too!
  
  
• On-theme books: There's nothing I love more than curating a thematic reading list for a trip. For instance, in Savannah, Georgia, I bought Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which chronicles a murder in the Southern city's most haunted mansion. For Fiji, I packed Escape!: A Novel by former Survivor contestant Stephen Fishbach. (As I mentioned, the show films in Fiji.) It's about a reality TV competition set on a tropical island that devolves into a Lord of the Flies type of situation. I promise you don't have to like Survivor to appreciate this fictionalized version of reality TV's seedy underbelly.

What to Do

• Village tours: Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay organizes guided visits to a nearby village, where we were greeted with a song and dance by four generations of residents (pictured above, top left). We also joined a kava ceremony, a South Pacific tradition that dates back over 3000 years. It involves the special preparation and sipping of a drink made from kava roots.
  
  
• Craft workshops: All three hotels I stayed at offered fun crafting projects using palm fronds, where you can learn how to shape and loop the leaves into functional objects like fans (pictured top right), baskets, or small keepsakes, guided by local hosts.
  
  
• Spas: All three of the above hotels had phenomenally serene spas. After I stupidly got sunburned on the back of my legs from snorkeling, I reveled in the Dilo Sun Cooling Wrap at the Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island (pictured above, bottom left). It uses traditionally Fijian dilo oil (a locally used botanical oil known for its soothing, restorative properties), which is applied as a body wrap so the cooling ingredients can fully absorb. It was exactly what this pale girl needed post-sunburn.
  
  
• Jet Skiing: Each of my stops offered Jet Ski rentals, but I think the best scenery can be found at Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, where you can skim past water that shifts from pale turquoise to deep sapphire, with coral formations visible just below the surface and small, uninhabited islands dotting the horizon.

People always ask me where I find inspiration, and honestly, I never travel looking for it. I travel because I love seeing new places, getting lost in shops, markets and bookstores, and because I’m incredibly curious. The inspiration usually comes later. I’ve also realised that travelling doesn’t really change my taste; I’ve always liked the same things, and it just keeps growing with everywhere I visit. The Hamptons was one of those places.

I wasn’t obsessed with the big houses or the beaches. Rather, it was everything around them. The faded sweatshirts in tiny local shops, old American cookbooks with covers I wanted to frame, the hat stands at the markets, monograms on absolutely everything, farm stands that looked like film sets, vintage Porsches in the happiest colours, the way every porch seemed to have the perfect chairs. Those are the things my brain keeps.

Months later, I’ll be choosing a fabric, designing a belt or getting dressed, and I’ll realise that something I saw there has quietly found its way back. Not because I’m trying to re-create it, but because it now lives with all the other references I’ve collected over the years. I think that’s how taste grows; not by changing who you are, but by adding little layers to what already exists.

When I look back, I can almost trace them: Menorca, Paris, Jaipur, New York and now The Hamptons. They all left me with something different. Not a new style, just a few more things to love.

Shop a Hamptons-Inspired Wardrobe:

A little over three weeks ago, I was packing my bags for the rainforests of Costa Rica. I'd been before in 2016, traveling with a group of 11: my parents, grandparents, aunts, and cousins. Given our Costa Rican heritage, it made sense to return to our roots as a family, following an excursion-packed itinerary funneling through San José—but this getaway would be different.

Instead of a see-everything kind of journey, my husband and I would tuck ourselves into the jungle-meets-ocean landscape of Uvita, staying at luxury hideaways Rancho Pacifico and Vista Celestial. The elevated, romantic escape felt more like a restorative retreat rather than a whirlwind trip, set about a four-hour drive from the capitol and offering cinematic views, open-air living, and a secluded way to experience the country.

While I knew sinking into my personal plunge pool and sipping on pure Arabica coffee would be easy, deciding what to pack was challenging. Not only am I a strictly carry-on-only flyer, but Costa Rica brings everything from unexpected thunderstorms to wildlife encounters. Coupled with that, the resort extended elevated experiences, like chef-driven dinners and indulgent spa treatments.

I needed looks that were functional, versatile, and stylish, which led me to pack five key trends—and ditch five others.

Beaded Backs Instead of Covered Styles

This summer's favorite styles are all about the details, so I made sure to pack my crochet maxi dress, finished with an elongated string of beads cascading down the back. The embellishments add texture and intrigue, making it the epitome of a vacation-ready dress. Because of the thoughtful and elevated accents, I was able to wear this flattering silhouette from a relaxed happy hour to a lavish four-course meal.

Running Shorts Instead of Biker Fits

I wouldn't say biker shorts are out, but running minis have taken center stage. I wore a swishy hot-pink pair, leaning into the vibrant retro spirit of nostalgia. Being that I was headed on a private boat tour along the Sierpe River (home to one of the most biodiverse mangrove regions in Central American), I think I nailed the rugged-chic look.

Raffia Bags Instead of Suede

Suede will always be a favorite of mine; however, it's too warm for sticky summer days—especially in the humid climate of Central America. Enter: raffia bags. The lightweight woven design pairs with everything from sundresses to flowing blouses, like the turquoise-blue silhouette that belonged to my late great-grandmother, who grew up in Costa Rica.

Soft Crochet Instead of Stiff Underwire

I wasn't about to squeeze a stiff, uncomfortable underwire bikini into my luggage. Instead, I reached for an easygoing crochet style made for a visit to Playa Hermosa, a decadent coffee scrub at the spa, and swims in an expansive infinity pool overlooking the dense forest.

Flowy Knits Instead of Structured Bodices

Corsets, bustiers, and paneling aren't your friends during heat waves, so I stashed this lightweight knit in my bag. It barley skimmed my body, keeping me fresh and cool. Bonus points for the side slits and halterneck, which added a breezy finish.

On the heels of her stunning weekend-long wedding to Callum Turner that took place at an 18th-century hilltop mansion in Palermo, Sicily, the pop star has been doing what she does best: vacationing like it's her full-time job. Lipa and Turner have most recently been spotted sunbathing on one of the iconic yellow striped loungers at the Hotel Il Pellicano. It was originally created as a private hideaway in 1950 by a young American couple before becoming the backdrop to many of Slim Aarons' most-recognized photos, making the cliffside resort an idyllic destination for a romantic holiday. The guest list alone is heavily star-studded, including everyone from Jackie Kennedy to Sophia Loren.

After their jaunt across Sicily, the pair continued their romantic road trip up through the toe of Italy's boot with a stop in Tropea at the 16th Century-era Villa Paola. The villa, which houses just fourteen bedrooms, was originally part of a Franciscan convent and has just reopened this spring after a renovation project.

San Domenico Palace, A Four Seasons Hotel

The wedding festivities began in Palermo, and shortly after the pair departed for their first stop in Taormina on the eastern coast of Sicily, specifically to stay at San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel. A little over a week ago, I got a phone call from ALO. This was on Thursday, and the team was asking if I was interested in flying to Saint-Tropez on Monday afternoon to join them on a 240-foot yacht sailing around the South of France to celebrate the fitness brand's summer Atelier collection. Naturally, I said yes. Four days later, I was checked in at LAX. By Tuesday morning Central European Time, I was boarding a tender at Capitainerie du Port de Saint-Tropez and then climbing aboard ALO Voyage, where private reformer classes, EMS training, a cold plunge, a sauna, and a treatment room for lymphatic drainage massages and advanced bodywork awaited.

For the next 63 hours, ALO took me on a wellness journey unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. As the daughter of a Pilates instructor who taught my friends and me how to make homemade almond milk with a nut milk bag in middle school, I'm hardly a novice. In between meals made of fresh, local ingredients—the chef's sourdough starter's name is Bradley Cooper—and morning dips in perfectly chilly and salty seawater, I had private Pilates sessions with ALO Wellness Club instructor Bianca Wise and a deep-tissue massage with a sound-bath soundtrack, and I still made time to do my best Beyoncé, jumping off the side of the yacht. There were private beach clubs and buzzy public ones, quiet mornings on the back deck to caffeinate and catch up on emails, and never-ending servings of matcha soft serve gelato, which was on tap at all times of the day and night.

After one long flight, an almost-missed connection, and a two-hour drive from Nice to Saint-Tropez, I finally arrived at Capitainerie du Port de Saint-Tropez, where an ALO-branded tender was scheduled to pick me up and take me to the boat about 15 minutes offshore. Two men in ALO trousers and matching sneakers grabbed my luggage and helped me on board (both work on the Silver Fox, the name of the yacht when it's not chartered by ALO), and soon enough, they were pointing out my home for the next 63 hours—not that it required an introduction. The three letters on its side more than gave its location away. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect when I said yes to a few nights on a yacht in the South of France. Let's just say that this boat was far, far larger and more grand than anything I could have imagined.

After being greeted by the team, who were lounging on the back deck taking advantage of the perfect weather, I was given a tour of the place. Apparently, a lot can fit on a 240-foot yacht, including a spa fit with a cold plunge, steam room, and sauna as well as a treatment room for massages and facials. Next door was the fitness room, which opens up to a deck designed for a Pilates reformer so you can stretch and tone literal steps from the Mediterranean. Obviously, I planned to put them all to use.

I quickly popped into my room to drop off my luggage and change into my swimsuit, and I was met with essentially an ALO store. The closet was full of ALO Atelier pieces and workout essentials, like leggings sets, running shoes, and sweatsuits. Once I'd scheduled my story and answered some emails, another guest and I jumped at the chance to do a private ab session with Wise, who whipped us into shape immediately. My abs were burning within the first minute and kept burning for the entirety of the 30-minute workout. She has video classes on the ALO Wellness Club app, so now, I need to download those and get to work.

I always try to move a bit after a really long flight just to keep my muscles from stiffening and stave off jet lag. This did just the trick, allowing me to run on basically zero sleep all the way through dinner.

Post-workout, I decided it was time to settle into my room for the next few days and freshen up before dinner on the bow of the boat right at sunset, which served as a perfect backdrop for the summer Atelier collection, which is full of soft pink and champagne mixed in with classic white and black pieces. We all had Atelier pieces already stocked in our closets, but it wasn't until dinner that I saw the collection in full. I particularly loved all the lightweight cashmere pieces, but there was also a healthy mix of silk and linen options to balance them out.

First, we sipped champagne while previewing the collection before sitting down for a multicourse meal served by the Silver Fox's incredible staff. The star of the show really was the sourdough and locally sourced olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Over the course of the week, I probably ate an entire loaf.

I always wake up early, but the jet lag had me up even earlier than normal, so after showering and picking out an outfit for my morning reformer appointment with Wise, I headed to the back deck to watch the sun come up with a coffee and my Kindle. Though my body could have probably used more sleep, quiet mornings like this make getting up early so worth it.

After my relaxing morning, I met up with Wise for a private reformer session in the Wellness Club. Stabilizing on a moving boat took some getting used to, but it was a great test of core strength. By the end of the class, I knew I'd feel it the next day.

A quick breakfast followed class. Everything, even the pastries, is made on board, and the fruit is all sourced locally in France, where, apparently, the best berries on the planet are grown. I also had about three more coffees to keep awake.

When the weather is as good as it was in Saint-Tropez during this trip, I cannot spend too much time inside. I have to be in the sun, so after breakfast, I ran to my room to change into a swimsuit and head to the top deck to sunbathe. Even with a good number of people on board, there was somehow always at least one spot that no one was occupying, and at this time, that was the top deck. I got some more work done, did a little reading, and just relaxed.

June 10, 2026 1:41 P.M.

I traded lying out on the boat for lying out at a private ALO beach club, something I was more than happy to do. The tender dropped us off on a small dock, where we were greeted with a choice of champagne or a wellness shot and then escorted to a long pink table full of incredible food. (I was very well fed on this trip, as you've probably already noticed.) This lobster pasta was especially delicious.

The rest of the afternoon was spent swimming and tanning on beach beds and inflatables, a perfect combination when one is near the Mediterranean.

Just before heading back to the boat, servers came around with some of the freshest fruit I'd ever tasted and giant tarte tropézienne, a famous cake that originated in Saint-Tropez and consists of a fluffy brioche base filled with pastry cream and whipped cream. It's finished off with pearl sugar.

June 10, 2026 8:43 P.M.

I swear we did more than just eat on this trip, but I forgot to capture anything after we got back from the beach club. The gap mostly consisted of me showering and getting ready for dinner, which was incredible. We ate at Kinugawa, a Japanese restaurant in Ramatuelle, where we ate everything from miso-marinated black cod to sea bass carpaccio.

When we arrived back on the boat after dinner, the staff on the Silver Fox had chamomile tea waiting for us. It was the perfect finishing touch for the evening.

June 11, 2026 9:47 A.M.

Since we got home late the night before, I let myself sleep in a bit later than usual. Once I was properly awake and caffeinated, I went upstairs to the top deck for an EMS training session with Darci Bawdon Fistanic, one of the EMS trainers at the ALO Wellness Club in London. EMS, or electrical muscle stimulation, training is a fitness trend where you put on a suit equipped with electrodes that send electrical impulses directly to your muscles. We did 30 minutes of full-body moves, from squats and lunges to crunches and glute bridges. It'll make you sore for days, but in the best way.

After our workout, we had breakfast and got ready for a day in town at one of the top beach clubs in the area, Loulou, followed by water sports back on the boat. As usual, I was early to meet everyone, so I set up a towel on the back deck and got some more sun.

Lunch at Loulou was one of the best meals we ate during the trip, with artichoke salad, Neapolitan pizza, spicy vodka pasta, and more on the menu. The vibes were immaculate, too, in part due to the DJ, who played a mix of oldies and modern dance hits.

After lunch, we ventured back to the boat to make the most of the rest of the daylight—jet-skiing, jumping off the side of the boat, and getting massages. Our goal was to re-create the famous Beyoncé jump, but I couldn't stomach jumping off the fourth-level deck, so we settled on doing so off the second floor. Nobody has to know.

June 11, 2026 8:34 P.M.

I really did sit outside for as long as I possibly could, and when the sun finally started to go down, I slipped inside to shower and clean up before our predinner sound bath with Wise. For the last night, dinner was on the boat and pretty casual, so I went with a super-cozy cashmere sweater and a pair of linen drawstring pants, both from the Atelier collection. There were no shoes allowed on the boat, so I just went barefoot.

This sound bath was such a beautiful way to close out the trip. I was so relaxed I fell asleep for 10 minutes while lying on pillows set up on one of the decks. The sun's descent turned the sky a rich pink-and-yellow shade that served as a stunning backdrop.

From there, we all took our blankets and settled in for a delicious outdoor dinner cooked by the Silver Fox's chef. We had more homemade sourdough bread with olive oil, pasta, and veggies, filling up with as much locally made cuisine as we could before deboarding tomorrow and returning home. All of our flights were pretty early the next day, so everyone headed right to bed after dinner—but not before enjoying more chamomile tea.

June 12, 2026 6:47 A.M.

I got up bright and early the next morning to enjoy one last cappuccino on the water before boarding the tender to head back to shore. It's a two-hour drive from Saint-Tropez to Nice and then a two-hour flight from Nice to Zürich, where I had my transfer. Even my flight back felt like a part of this wellness journey, especially since my business-class seat on Swiss Air from Zürich to Los Angeles doubled as a massage chair. I read my book for the majority of the flight, trying to get as much enrichment time as I could before returning to my regular life, and slept between chapters. Upon arriving home, I wasn't exhausted like I normally am after a trip, especially one as long as this one. I'd spent far too much time relaxing during my 63 hours with ALO for that to be the case.

In the lobby, the roofing and walls are made of materials that look like ropes, inspired by looms used by the Indigenous people to make clothes, thread by thread. There is also beautiful Huichol beadwork, known as "chaquira," which my butler told me is made by placing each bead individually. Also featured are colorful murals, stamped linen canvases, and beaded animal figures found throughout the resort, created by artists whose work is rooted in Mexico and has strong ties to the Pacific Coast. Rosewood Mandarina also celebrates Mexican heritage at The Artisan Boutique, located by the beach, which offers a curated selection of Mexican ceramics, woven vessels, textiles, and authentic crafts that reflect the region's textures and traditions.

After exploring the lobby, you'll be transported to your suite or villa via a private golf cart. You'll quickly notice that the property's design clearly prioritizes guests' privacy. While some accommodations are paired within the same structure, each has its own walkway and entrance. I stayed in a Flatland Suite, located on the lowest flat part of the property, but there are also ocean-view mountain suites, poolside suites, poolside villas, and mountaintop villas. No matter the type, each accommodation is just as picturesque and spacious as the next, and all come with a private plunge pool, bathtub, outdoor shower, a terrace, and butler service.

For those who are curious if I'd return, the answer is an easy yes. Rosewood Mandarina truly has it all, and three nights was a good amount of time to spend there, but certainly not enough.

Rosewood Mandarina offers something for those who want relaxation and for those who want adventure. As for the experiences, guests can book a guided hike through the rainforest and see the ancient tree, called La Abuela, zip-line through the jungle, surf on the Pacific, or take tennis or pickleball lessons. The property also features a nine-hole par-three course plus an additional challenge hole. The polo and equestrian center is not to be missed, though. Guests can enjoy horseback and polo lessons as well as trail rides that lead to the beach. You might even be able to catch a polo tournament. Lastly, cooking and cocktail-making classes are offered.

During my stay, I participated in the cooking class, which I highly recommend. It was very hands-on. I learned how to make homemade corn tortillas using a roller, then a tortilla press. I also made guacamole and salsa using the molcajete (a tool made of hand-carved volcanic rock). The class wrapped up with a chance to enjoy the creations alongside chicken and steak fajitas.

The culinary experience at Rosewood Mandarina is so exceptional that there is no need to venture beyond the resort for a meal. Guests can enjoy three distinct restaurants and a cliffside cocktail bar, Barra Peñasco, which has a tree house–inspired aesthetic. During my visit, it featured a residency by Mexico City's Handshake Speakeasy, currently celebrated as the second-best bar globally for its creative mixology and inviting atmosphere.

For food, the options range from refined Japanese to Spanish coastal cuisine. Toppu is the mountaintop Japanese restaurant led by chef Diego Muñoz, complete with an open irori, a sushi counter, and a special room that can accommodate large parties. The menu features everything from traditional tuna cut rolls to marinated fried chicken. For a taste of Spanish cuisine, you can head to Buena Onda, a casual restaurant set right on the beach. It offers everything from grilled seafood and tapas to paellas and sangria. Highly recommend booking a reservation for sunset. Last but not least is Buena Onda, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu captures the essence of true Mexican home cooking—think tortilla soup, ceviche, and crudos.

The Asaya Spa is one of the most special places on the property. Designed around two magnificent ancient parota trees, its square layout creates a serene sanctuary that feels deeply connected to the natural world. The towering trees lend a powerful, grounding energy, symbolizing the connection between Mother Earth and nature. Even if you don't book a treatment, I highly recommend visiting the spa just to see it.

Beyond the beautiful design, the spa offers endless wellness experiences. There's a 24-hour fitness center, a selection of Wixárika-inspired treatments, a sauna, a steam room, and a cold plunge pool. I enjoyed a deep-tissue massage, customized with an aromatic oil chosen to match my intention for the day—whether belief, resilience, visualization, or mindfulness. My therapist, Linda, started the treatment by rubbing the oil in her hands and placing them over my nose, inviting me to inhale its earthy aroma and relax my body. The massage itself was thoughtful and restorative, with every movement feeling purposeful. She concluded the experience with a soothing sound bath.

During my stay, I had the opportunity to join a wellness retreat hosted by Pilates instructor Amanda Kassar of Core Club in L.A. While I wasn't "officially" part of the retreat, I was welcomed to join the experience and quickly understood why so many women travel to Kassar's event or her classes on a daily basis.

"I chose Rosewood Mandarina because the property lent itself to amazing spots to do all of my classes," Kassar tells me. "I was able to [have a class] in the jungle, next to the beach, on top of the mountain overlooking the view, and underneath a sacred tree." She also notes that there is so much for retreat guests to do in their free time—tennis, pickleball, hiking, and horseback riding. "The spa is amazing too," she adds. "You don't have to leave, and the food and the hospitality are unmatched."

The retreat brought together an incredible group of women, many of whom have been longtime members of Kassar's community. What stood out wasn't just the backdrops for the Pilates sessions or the way I saw and felt results in my body after just two classes, but the genuine connections formed. There was a sense of ease and camaraderie that felt rare and refreshing.

"What sets my retreat apart from others is the community that I've built," Kassar says. "People enjoy spending time with each other, meeting one another, and working out together really brings that connection."

Although Pilates classes were offered twice a day—one at 7 a.m. and another at 5 p.m.—the retreat felt less like a fitness getaway and more like an opportunity to reconnect with yourself and others. This was Core Club's first retreat at Rosewood Mandarina, but Kassar told me she'd love to return to the property. She also has her sights set on Rosewood Mayakoba. So keep your eyes peeled. I know I will.

Packing for Rosewood Mandarina requires a suitcase that strikes a balance between adventure and luxury. One moment you might be hiking, zip-lining, or squeezing in a sunrise workout, and the next you're settling into a lounge chair with nowhere to be but the beach, and later grabbing drinks at a cocktail bar that closely resembles a tree house.

For the active side of the trip, I packed leggings, athletic shorts, sports bras, and lightweight tanks. I also thankfully brought a light, sporty layer, which I threw over my athleisure for early morning workouts. The rest of my wardrobe centered around easy resort dressing.

During the day, I lived in bikinis and one-piece swimsuits paired with oversize linen button-down shirts, sarongs, colorful flip-flops, all of which I completed with beaded necklaces and different raffia bags. The rooms are stocked with a chic beach tote for guests to use, so if you happen to forget one, no worries.

Evenings call for a slightly elevated version of that same effortless seaside aesthetic. I packed three lightweight, neutral maxi dresses and styled them with fun accessories such as a beaded pouch bag and bold earrings. For shoes, I alternated between black and ivory kitten-heel flip-flops, polished with the heels yet still retaining that casual, laid-back edge from the thong design. And because protecting your skin from the sun is essential, as any luxury traveler in 2026 knows, I have to add that a spray tan is a warm-weather vacation must. I got mine from Golden Girls in NYC, which I couldn't recommend more. The natural and lasting tan was the perfect finishing touch, allowing me to feel confident in any of my outfits.

What to Pack

Booking a trip is easy. But packing for it? That's where things get complicated. After all, not all destinations are created equal in terms of relaxed dress codes and aesthetics. While securing a flight and hotel takes just a few clicks, curating a suitcase that balances style, comfort, and the unique vibe of your destination requires a much more thoughtful approach.

With summer travel top of mind, I'm simplifying the process for all stylish jet-setters. I'm covering destinations such as Nantucket, the Hamptons, Puglia, and Ibiza and sharing the top two trends for each location that every traveler should pack. I've also included which items pair best with each trend. Remember, these are not set outfit formulas. They're the ingredients, if you will, for what will best suit the destination's vibe and make you feel comfortable and confident during your well-deserved time off.

Nantucket possesses a quiet magic. Located just over an hour by plane from New York, this tiny island spans only about five miles. Its charm is defined by a deep respect for history and a tight-knit local community. Its aesthetic includes shells, stripes, and an effortlessly relaxed coastal vibe. As for a fitting wardrobe, two fashion trends come to mind: canvas tote bags and sleep dresses. These pieces capture the New England summer spirit and are versatile enough for famous landmarks, secluded beaches, and dining spots favored by locals. Hotel Cala di Volpe is the property in Sardinia that everyone is talking about, especially fashion people, because the hotel will be draped in Dolce & Gabbana's iconic Maiolica Gialla print this summer. Aside from the hotels, the turquoise waters are not to be missed, whether you're island-hopping by boat or relaxing seaside. For either option, you'll need a one-piece swimsuit. Whether you wear a style from the Hunza G x Burberry collab or a timeless silhouette from Eres, dress it up with a bold beaded necklace, then add drawstring pants, flip-flops, and a raffia bucket hat.

So you've finally booked the group trip, share house, or romantic getaway to the Hamptons you've been talking about forever. That means you've also put together an itinerary that includes walking into town to see if Round Swamp Farm lives up to the hype, biking through Bridgehampton to daydream about owning a beautiful home on Ocean Road, shopping at the new Chanel store in East Hampton to see if you can score one of Matthieu Blazy's new pieces, and perhaps trying the new breakfast spot, Babe's Diner, in Sag Harbor. Having visited the Hamptons every summer for the past 10 years, I can say that almost anything works. However, as a fashion person, I know that's not very helpful, so let me get specific. For 2026, a foolproof outfit for the Hamptons includes a lightweight long-sleeve shirt paired with Bermuda shorts—an ensemble endorsed by Margot Robbie, who wore it at the airport with mesh flats and a long-strap shoulder bag. Traveling to Mexico City between April and May is when you'll experience the warmest temperature, but if you go after that, it isn't quite as hot, making balloon trousers an ideal base for your look.
