It all started at Tory Burch's S/S 26 show in New York way back in September of 2025. Inside a Brooklyn bank, the designer sent a slew of elegant ensembles (with a twist) down the runway, many with beaded kitten heels to complete the looks. We all zeroed in on them, but no one really talked about them beyond the immediate social posts that went live following the show. It wasn't until recently, when they arrived on the brand's new-arrivals page, that the buzz around them kicked back up. Now, they're almost completely sold out.

In the period between that show and the shoes reemerging, a slew of similar beaded pumps debuted, further driving attention for the elevated alternative to beaded sandals. At Prada's F/W 26 show, beaded pumps and boots were the talk of Milan Fashion Week, showing up in bold color options—like pink, red, and chartreuse—and featuring other details, like dyed feathers. Tory Burch continued the trend by including an updated version of its S/S 26 pairs in its resort 27 collection. Dior's recent couture show, which debuted in July, likewise showcased beaded footwear by the house's esteemed shoe designer, Nina Christen. (You might recognize her name from her namesake brand, Christen, a favorite among industry fashion people.) Paris-based shoe and accessories brand CeeCee also got involved, designing beaded slingbacks in a cool, playful multicolor style.

When Matthieu Blazy's second haute couture show for Chanel also included a pair of embellished, beaded pumps featuring a black dipped toe and a metallic heel, the whimsical shoe trend's fate was set in stone. Boring, basic footwear is officially being put on pause by fashion people everywhere. Instead, they're preparing for the beaded heels that will soon cause lines to form outside every major fashion house's boutiques.

Across the spring/summer 2026 runways, maisons in Paris and New York seemed to arrive at the same conclusion: If you're going to wear sunglasses, they may as well take up half your face. Collectively, the message was impossible to miss: Fashion wants its sunglasses to be loud again.

There's something undeniably appealing about eyewear that refuses to blend in. In an era dominated by personal style, statement dressing, and images designed to stop a scroll, freaky sunglasses offer instant impact. Look in my closet, and you'll probably notice that there's one color that appears more than any other—in a disproportionate amount. For years, I've loved wearing black—so much so that I rarely wear color. I recently wrote an entire article about how I wear black even in 90-degree weather.

If there’s one shoe brand I've been noticing editors and influencers wearing the most lately, it’s Tory Burch. From the resurgence of the early 2000s signature Reva ballet flat to the peep-toe pump, I keep spotting them all over New York. For 2026, it's the Romy Sport Mary Jane, which Jennifer Lawrence wore recently. According to the designer's website, the shoe is described as "a modern sneaker-ballet hybrid" and "lightweight and flexible."

Spring is so, so close. I’ve been dreaming of the days when I can walk out of my apartment without a jacket. I’ve been harping on my closet, feeling that universal feeling of, “I have nothing to wear.” That said, a solution quickly came to me once I noticed an outfit worn by one of Hollywood’s most stylish darlings, Tessa Thompson.

With winter finally coming to an end in New York City, spring sneakers are top of mind for a lot of people ready to put away their snow boots and other cold-weather shoes, so I decided to browse what’s in stock at Nordstrom.

Personally, when I wear sneakers, I tend to gravitate toward pairs that look less like traditional sneakers and sometimes more like flats or Mary Janes. The XT-6 sneakers from Salomon have been go-tos for years, and I’m also a fan of the Gender Inclusive RX Moc 3.0 Slip-On Sneaker from the brand. The show marks the debut of Jamaican-born designer Rachel Scott at the helm of the label. Her message was clear: Print doesn’t cancel sophistication—it amplifies it.

Similar abstract prints, both floral and not, were seen at Altuzarra, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Anna Sui, and PatBo. Even Khaite, often the poster child for a restrained, cool, monochrome New York chicness, partook in the printed fun in its own way, adapting a black, yellow, and red floral print into a bateau-neck midi dress complete with an ivory ruffled hem and matching gloves. When a label synonymous with sleek restraint embraces floral motifs, you pay attention.

What makes this moment significant isn’t that florals appeared—they always do. It’s that they felt like a rebuttal. After years of algorithm-friendly beige and “if you know, you know” dressing, the printed dress reads as fashion reclaiming its right to be seen. There’s something almost rebellious about choosing a pattern when the cultural mood has rewarded understatement.

In many ways, the rise of the floral printed dress signals a broader recalibration. We’re moving away from clothes that whisper status and toward pieces that communicate identity. The anti–quiet luxury dress isn’t about opulence for opulence's sake. It's about personality and expression. And maybe (just maybe!) it's about having a bit of fun again.

If I had to call out just one non-denim pant trend that's showing the most promise in 2026, corduroy pants would be the obvious answer. They're everywhere all of a sudden on It girls and runway models alike, the latter proving that this isn't just a temporary fad. I vividly remember the first time I came across Jeanne Damas during the earlier days of Instagram. I even recall trying to find her exact lip combo back when she would blend two lipsticks together and apply them with her fingers for that soft, blurred finish. She quickly became one of the most popular modern-day references for French style.

Since then, she's remained known for her effortless aesthetic and is now a designer as well, having launched her brand Rouje in 2016. For this February's New York Fashion Week, Damas shares her diary, including the Ralph Lauren show, a Rouje event, and the Tory Burch show.

What are some of your favorite New York tips?

I always stay at the same hotel. I love building habits when I travel. It makes me feel at home instantly. I love staying in neighborhoods filled with young, creative energy. It's incredibly inspiring. In Paris, we don't always experience that same avant-garde spirit in such an intense way. It gives me so much inspiration for Rouje. I love that mix of youth, diversity, and creativity. It actually reminds me a bit of Belleville. As a mom, one of my best tips for flying to NYC is to take melatonin on the plane and try to sleep properly. It really helps fight jet lag and arrive feeling fresh and ready.

Favorite moment of the trip?

My getaway to The Met between two fashion week appointments to discover the exhibition Seeing Silence by the Finnish painter Helene Schjerfbeck. A moment of calm to discover this artist. The Met is a bit of a must-stop whenever I come to NYC; there's always something to see.

The best thing you ate or drank?

The best BLT is definitely in New York. I love having it as a second breakfast at Dimes, sometimes even grabbing one to take away before heading back to Paris. And Le Dive for a pastis. It has one of the only terraces in the summer, which makes it feel like a little Parisian escape.

Favorite shops, restaurants, and places to go?

For years, my first stop in NYC was Maryam Nassir Zadeh. Now, I feel like I need to discover a new ritual address. Of course, I love vintage shopping: Ellen Vintage, Desert Vintage, and Duo are always on my list. Bar Oliver is perfect for drinks. Le Chêne is a beautiful new French restaurant I tried this week—modern cuisine, very "fooding," and absolutely incredible. The MoMA is always a good idea, and I also love visiting galleries like Grimm, PPOW, or 1969 Gallery.

A trend you're already seeing everywhere?

I arrived wearing my Blundstones without realizing that basically everyone in New York already had them, but honestly, when it's -20°C, you understand why.

What was your approach to packing? I'd love to hear about the essentials that you made sure to bring!

I always travel with my father's baptism medal. It's my little ritual so the plane doesn't crash. My perfect sleep kit is essential: melatonin, earplugs, my own pillow, and a silk eye mask. I'm a bit of a princess and the pea when it comes to sleep. I need my routine, no matter what. I brought a hair diffuser (because of the American plugs), my toiletry bag, and simple makeup—a face palette and tinted balms. A big bag is key so I can walk around all day with all my essentials. To survive the New York cold, [I have] Damart thermal layers, a Rouje neck warmer, good boots, and shearling pieces. It was also the first time I packed workout clothes to go to the gym. I actually recommend exercising in the morning when you're jet-lagged. It helps reset your body.

You also launched an exclusive preview of your new collection while you were in town at Rouje's SoHo store. How would you describe the new pieces?

The new collection is inspired by Ilona and Carole—strong, inspiring women with that effortless, timeless femininity. It's about confidence, subtle sensuality, and pieces that feel both iconic and easy to wear.

This year is Rouje's 10th anniversary. Are there any things you can share that you have on your bucket list for the next 10 years of Rouje?

Opening a Rouje café, something like a madeleine de Proust, a coffee shop that feels nostalgic and deeply connected to Rouje's universe. Organizing our first big show but maybe in a more artistic way, very Rouje. Perhaps something involving actresses. Opening more boutiques in Europe or maybe a permanent space in Asia. Continuing and deepening our support of Maison des Femmes de Saint-Denis and developing the lifestyle side of Rouje: exploring my passion for interiors, creating special pieces—maybe even things for my daughter—and continuing collaborations with French and European artisans.

Is there anything else you'd like to include?

New York always reminds me why I love creation so much. The energy is intense, bold, fearless. It pushes me to dream bigger.

The collection was inspired in part by Bunny Mellon, a horticulturist, landscape designer, and philanthropist, and the brand's show notes state that [the collection] "reflects how women dress now: by instinct, not rules." Braided Leather Belts

If I had to name one defining piece from the show that will catch on the fastest, it would have to be braided leather belts. They accessorized almost every look that came down the runway and added an effortless, vintage quality to every outfit they were part of.

Gray Leather

I'm certainly not saying that chocolate-brown leather is a thing of the past, but come fall, I predict we're going to be seeing a lot more cool gray leather. On the Tory Burch runway, it came in the form of a pencil skirt and shoes (both heels and flats). The unexpectedness of gray leather as opposed to black or brown is part of what makes it stand out.

Ankle Cigarette Trousers

Given the popularity of cigarette jeans, it should come as no surprise that cigarette trousers are in the pipeline. Many outfits on the runway included the polished ankle-length pants that are more slim-fitting than the trouser trends of recent seasons.

Drop-Waist Dresses

Tory Burch excels in the dress department, so you can always expect a few trends to take shape post-show. This time, it was drop-waist dresses, some seemingly influenced by the styles of the 1920s and some by those of the 1980s. The trend came in many forms—from halter and fitted to long-sleeve and loose.

Peter Pan Collars

The Peter Pan collars on the runway were a far cry from the ones you probably wore as a child. Sophisticated, structured, and often layered under an oversize knit, they're an easy way to achieve old-school elegance this fall.

Fish-Motif Jewelry

The sardine trend is getting a sophisticated update for fall/winter 2026. Many of the Tory Burch models wore silver and muted gold sardine pins and pendant necklaces to adorn their knitwear and drop-waist dresses.

Orange

The Tory Burch F/W 26 runway was filled with colors, both muted and vibrant, and one of the most predominant was of the latter category. Orange was a standout trend on the runway (it's hard to ignore, after all), proving that the hue, which was one of spring/summer 2026's biggest color trends, is continuing on.

If you're looking for an excuse to go shoe shopping, I recommend Nordstrom's winter sale. If I could only buy one pair across all of the discounts, I'd choose the Stuart Weitzman Minimalist Slide 50 Sandals.

In the boot selection, there are highlights such as Vince's Harlan Knee-High Boots, Tony Bianco's Fantasy Knee-High Boots, and Frye's Kate Block Heel Boots.

There are plenty of standout heels too. Tory Burch has a leopard-printed colorway of the Double T Buckle Pointed-Toe Pumps. As I scrolled, it was my first time seeing heeled loafers from G.H.Bass, the Penny Loafer Pumps. Mansur Gavriel's Ballerina Kitten Heel Pumps are chic as well, and the espresso suede iteration is almost sold out.

I won't say that the reign of red is over, but I think we can all agree that it's been a very long reign, and people are yearning for a new statement-making color to add a pop of color to their outfits. (Sorry, butter yellow—you don't make a statement.) The spring/summer 2026 runways were saturated with bold colors, and one of them was just worn by Lili Reinhart in the form of multiple accessories to complement her otherwise muted outfit.

The color I'm referring to is acid green, which had prominent placements at Prada, Tibi, and Versace, among many others. Reinhart wore a full look from Tory Burch's resort 2026 collection. With her jeans, gray sweater, and luxe cognac leather coat, she wore a scarf wrapped tightly at the neck like a turtleneck, a satin bag, and wedge heels, all in acid green. Like red, acid green offers a strong contrast to many colors, so it goes with everything because it goes with nothing.

Next in line for the throne is the Lee Radziwill bag by New York-based designer Tory Burch. First debuting in 2018 and named after the late American socialite, the bag has become a quiet mainstay in Burch's collections. Radziwill is considered to be one of the most stylish women who has lived, and she inspired Burch to design a handbag with her in mind. Lore has it that knowing Radziwill personally, Burch sent the namesake PR executive and interior designer a black version of the bag, and she then requested another in red a few weeks later.

Not that long ago, its Reva flats became a must-have staple for preppy teens looking for status shoes that wouldn't break the bank. Tell us about your look. What was your favorite thing about it?

My look felt very utilitarian with structure and texture that gave it a really strong presence. The brown leather jacket was the centerpiece. It had these amazing little pockets all over it that made it feel both functional and high fashion at the same time. To finish the look, I paired it with sleek sunglasses that gave very much Matrix energy, which made the whole outfit feel powerful and a little mysterious. It was one of those outfits that made me feel confident the second I put it on.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my personal style as chic with an edgy twist because I always like for my outfits to have a little something unexpected. I love clean, put-together silhouettes with a detail—whether it's a bold accessory, a pop of color, or an interesting texture—that adds attitude. Recently, I've also been leaning into a bit of a '70s boho-chic vibe, playing with flowy fabrics and vintage-inspired details. I think fashion is about balance, so I like to mix refined pieces with something a little rebellious. For me, style is about expressing confidence while also having fun.

Do you have a first memory with Tory Burch?

My first memory with Tory Burch goes all the way back to high school when the brand's flip-flops and bags were everywhere. I remember all the girls who had them—they were absolutely the It-girl items. It was the kind of brand that felt aspirational but also approachable, something that felt really cool without trying too hard. Seeing it back then made me associate Tory Burch with confidence and individuality, and that connection has stuck with me. It's so fun now to be able to wear the brand in such a different context and still feel that same excitement.

What draws you to Tory Burch as a brand, and how does it align with the way you like to get dressed?

What I love about Tory Burch is that she's never afraid to experiment with textures, colors, and structure. There's always a boldness in her collections, whether it's in the way something is layered or the unexpected pairings of pieces. I'm constantly inspired because there's never a look where I think, "Oh, that's not eye-catching." Even the more casual styles still have a twist that makes them special. That approach really aligns with how I like to get dressed because I always want to feel like there's intention and creativity in my look. Wearing Tory makes me feel like I can take risks without losing elegance.

What was your favorite thing about the Tory Burch S/S 26 show?

My favorite thing about the show was how the collection and the soundtrack complemented each other so seamlessly. The energy of the music paired with the confidence of the designs created such a powerful atmosphere. You could feel the room shift as each look came out, and it was impossible not to get swept up in it. I loved how it wasn't just a fashion show. [It was] an experience that carried emotion and left you inspired. It was a reminder of how fashion is so much about storytelling.

Did you have a favorite look or piece? Was there something you saw that you realized you needed to buy immediately?

Yes, my favorite was the all-blue color-blocking look—it was such a standout moment for me. The outfit combined a skirt, top, and blazer, each in different shades of blue and turquoise, which together created this stunning layered effect. What made it even more special was how it was styled with burgundy accessories and a bold pair of oversize black sunglasses. The contrast was divine. It struck the perfect balance between classic and daring, and I immediately thought, "I need this in my wardrobe." It's the kind of look that would make you feel instantly polished yet still playful.

What's your favorite Tory Burch piece in your wardrobe?

Right now, my favorite Tory Burch piece has to be the runway look I wore, which, unfortunately, I have to pack up and send back! There was something so special about wearing a piece fresh off the runway. You could feel the craftsmanship and intention in every detail. It's rare to wear something that feels both so high-concept yet wearable at the same time, and that's what made it unforgettable. Even though it's not staying in my closet, it will definitely remain a favorite memory of mine. Wearing it gave me that kind of excitement you always hope fashion will bring.

More Sneakers We're Eyeing for Fall

The easiest way to spot a future sellout is to look to the past and use what you find to make educated predictions. It's kind of my specialty, and I'm very rarely wrong. Right now, I'm foreseeing major success for a particular handbag. It's practically guaranteed to go viral. Just wait and see.

The bag in question is Tory Burch's recently released Pierced Handbag, which arrived just a few seasons after the brand saw multiple shoe versions make it big. There's the Pierced Mule, the Pierced Slingback, the Pierced Pump, and the Pierced Mule Wedge. A slide iteration was also recently released this summer, and guess what happened. Fashion people everywhere snatched pairs up, of course. Now that the brand's iconic detail has hit the handbag world, it's sure to follow suit.

The Pierced Handbag—which comes in two sizes, the original medium version and a smaller iteration—debuted on the runway at Tory Burch's S/S 25 show back in September 2024 at the Domino Sugar Refinery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. At the brand's next show at MoMA for F/W 25, a number of celebrities in attendance carried the Pierced Handbag, including The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung, Amanda Seyfried, and Charlotte Lawrence.

Finally, after months of waiting patiently for the bags to arrive on Tory Burch's website, they're here, and as expected, many are falling hard and fast for their unique shape and appearance. Both are shoulder bags, with the larger version coming in suede, pebbled leather, smooth leather, and even a leopard-print calf-hair style. The smaller of the two is available (for now) in just two colors, black and red.

Not only is the Pierced Handbag unlike any other bag on the market right now—a rare occurrence in fashion these days—but it's also more affordable. I'm not saying $1050 is affordable, per se, but when you compare it to designer bags that cost upward of $5000, it's far more accessible. The smaller option is $730 and made of genuine leather from a tannery that's certified by the Leather Working Group, an organization that supports high standards in leather manufacturing and chemical management (score).

Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I love a good tank top. I'm picky about them, absolutely, but when I find one I really like, I'll wear it again and again. For anyone who can't currently spend close to $300 on a tank top, I get it, which is why I went searching for alternative ways to dress up the simple shirt for less. And unless you're completely adverse to a quick morning spent DIYing, I think I found just the solution. From Etsy to Zara, there's a seemingly endless supply of unique, flower-like brooches and pins on the market for people like us to choose from and attach to our tank tops all summer long. There are silky roses, genuine-looking tulips, and large ostrich-feather versions that look almost more like deep-sea creatures than flowers (but I digress). It's a strange phenomenon when you go from not knowing about something to seeing it everywhere you look. As someone who studies the styling behaviours of celebrities and influencers on a daily basis, I should be used to it. After all, it happens quite frequently in fashion spaces. And yet, I'm always thrown for a loop when I notice the next big thing become ubiquitous nearly overnight.

Such is exactly what occurred when Tory Burch launched its latest handbag, called the Romy. The style comes in three distinct shapes—the Tote, the Small Tote, and the Bucket Bag—and a variety of colours, from muted hues like light cream, light granite, and black, to trendy alternatives, including tan suede and "lemon." One day, I had no association with the name Romy. The next, it was being toted around by multiple celebrities, including Emma Roberts, Jodie Turner-Smith, Michelle Williams, and Suki Waterhouse. The best part? For once, the bag on every It celebrity's arm wasn't £5000+. It was £660 at most, with smaller versions priced at £475 and £440. Given that all three sizes are made of genuine leather (crafted in partnership with a Leather Working Group–certified tannery), my first impression was that, for those prices, the Romy bags were a steal. Of course, I had to see, feel, and carry them all to know for sure if my assumptions were correct.

1. Tory Burch Romy Tote

My Review: The Tote is the version of Tory Burch's Romy style that I've seen celebrities spotlight most, so naturally, it was the first bag I wanted to test. Bags aren't like clothes—you can't just try them on and get the full picture in a matter of minutes. You need to carry them when they're full of stuff, testing how much you can fit inside and finding out how they feel on your shoulder or arm after a long period. To properly determine the practicality of the Romy Tote, I grabbed all of my many essentials and took it on a journey to my favourite outlet mall outside of New York City in New Jersey. It was expected to snow, and my boyfriend and I left our apartment around 8 in the morning, so I needed a lot of things to survive the wet day ahead. Inside was a Celsius, an empty water bottle, protein bars, and a few packets of Liquid I.V. I also, of course, had my wallet, keys, and sunglasses, as well as winter accessories like leather gloves and a scarf. Honestly, there was probably more inside; I just can't recall what all that includes. Whatever all was in there, it was a lot. And unlike many of the other hundreds of tote bags I've tried in my time as a fashion editor and NYC commuter, it didn't leave my shoulder feeling numb or looking indented. My back didn't ache after carrying it around for eight hours essentially without pause. It even handled being in the snow well. (Though, I admittedly used the umbrella we packed to protect it at all costs.)

All in all, I can see why celebrities can't stop carrying this bag. It's lightweight but high quality, and its lack of flashy logos and its minimalist design make it easy to style no matter what colour or material you choose to go with.

2. Tory Burch Romy Bucket Bag

My Review: As much as I love a big bag full of necessities and non-necessities, I also greatly appreciate a smaller option that I can easily throw on my arm and head out the door with. That's what, to me, the Romy Bucket Bag is great for. Multiple days in a row, the granite-grey version of this style was my go-to. I took it everywhere, from the office to after-work drinks, and never did it feel too small or limiting in any way. In fact, it fits a lot more than I would have expected it to, especially before seeing it in person. One thing I especially love about this shape is how you can change the size of its opening by adjusting the belted strap and securing it in place with Tory Burch's new silver logo button. It's great for New York City living, a place where you don't want anyone to be able to see or reach inside your handbag. My Review: Nothing, to me, says rich more than a cream or ivory handbag, which is what originally spurred me to want to test-drive the Romy Small Tote in the elegant shade. This bag is everything I expected it to be and more. It's a fantastic size, first of all. It also features a very useful internal zip pocket where I kept my keys, headphones, and wallet while I toted the smaller version of the original tote around the Upper West Side on a cold, winter Saturday afternoon. In the main pocket, I stored my leather gloves, tissues, perfume, portable charger, and more, all of which I could see clearly thanks to the spacious quality of this tote. Like the Bucket Bag, though, you can adjust the opening of this version, allowing you to conceal your belongings whenever necessary. Also like the Bucket Bag, the Romy Small Tote comes with a long, 20.3-inch detachable strap, making it a great choice for airport travel.

When I asked my coworkers which of the three bag options I should hold on to for the long haul, they all voted for this one, calling out its luxe colour, just-right size and shape, and styling versatility. All that said, I never really needed to ask for their opinion. I knew the Romy Small Tote was my keeper all along.

It's not news that Tory Burch is really good right now. In recent years, a seat at the show has become one of the most coveted NYFW invitations, and each collection is somehow even better than the last. The F/W 25 showing took place this week at the Museum of Modern Art, and many members of the fashion and celebrity crowds were present and accounted for.

Tory Burch's modern, wearable fall collection featured everything from elegant takes on sweatpant outfits to structured blazers to more than a few pops of color. The sporty yet elevated collection is sure to lead to many fall trends and outfit ideas, and I'm here to plant the seed. Below, I'm calling out some of the biggest themes from the collection that I'm sure the highly influential brand will help jump-start as the fashion world gears up for fall. The Celeb-Studded Front Row

Pops of Bold Color

Pops of color are a Tory Burch trademark, and she didn't hold back with the F/W 25 collection. Bold colors such as lime green and red were paired with muted neutrals, and the outcome was cool and sophisticated and even a bit sporty.

Fancy Sweatpants

If you're ready for sweatpants as pants to make a comeback, Tory Burch is here for you. Sweatpants were styled in unexpected ways, proving that they can, in fact, pass as real pants.

Brooches

Everyone I know who attended the show IRL was Instagramming the same thing: the brooches. Many of the coats, sweaters, and blazers were adorned with a vintage-inspired brooch, and I, for one, will be ordering one immediately.

Colored Tights

Completely bare legs were rare on the runway, as model after model walked in colored tights. Shades of cool gray, soft white, and cocoa brown made multiple appearances.

Oversize Tweed Pieces

Last but not least, tweed was a major fabric trend on the runway, with everything from blazers to sweatpants being constructed in tweed or tweed-like fabrics. I predict that Tory Burch shoppers will be eager to invest in a trend with such timeless appeal.

It's a strange phenomenon when you go from not knowing about something to seeing it everywhere you look. As someone who studies the styling behaviors of celebrities and influencers daily, I should be used to it. After all, it happens quite frequently in fashion spaces. And yet, I'm always thrown for a loop when I notice the next big thing become ubiquitous nearly overnight.

Such is exactly what occurred when Tory Burch launched its latest handbag, called the Romy. The style comes in three distinct shapes—the Tote, the Small Tote, and the Bucket Bag—and a variety of colors, from muted hues like light cream, light granite, and black, to trendy alternatives, including tan suede and "lemon." One day, I had no association with the name Romy. The next, it was being toted around by multiple celebrities, including Emma Roberts, Jodie Turner-Smith, Michelle Williams, and Suki Waterhouse. The best part? For once, the bag on every It celebrity's arm wasn't $5000+. It was $598 at most, with smaller versions priced at $498 and $328. Given that all three sizes are made of genuine leather (crafted in partnership with a Leather Working Group–certified tannery), my first impression was that, for those prices, the Romy bags were a steal. Of course, I had to see, feel, and carry them all to know for sure if my assumptions were correct.

Tory Burch Romy Tote

My Review: The Tote is the version of Tory Burch's Romy style that I've seen celebrities spotlight most, so naturally, it was the first bag I wanted to test. Bags aren't like clothes—you can't just try them on and get the full picture in a matter of minutes. You need to carry them when they're full of stuff, testing how much you can fit inside and finding out how they feel on your shoulder or arm after a long period. To properly determine the practicality of the Romy Tote, I grabbed all of my many essentials and took it on a journey to my favorite outlet mall outside of New York City in New Jersey. It was expected to snow, and my boyfriend and I left our apartment around 8 in the morning, so I needed a lot of things to survive the wet day ahead. Inside was a Celsius, an empty water bottle, protein bars, and a few packets of Liquid I.V. I also, of course, had my wallet, keys, and sunglasses, as well as winter accessories like leather gloves and a scarf. Honestly, there was probably more inside; I just can't recall what all that includes. Whatever all was in there, it was a lot. And unlike many of the other hundreds of tote bags I've tried in my time as a fashion editor and NYC commuter, it didn't leave my shoulder feeling numb or looking indented. My back didn't ache after carrying it around for eight hours essentially without pause. It even handled being in the snow well. (Though, I admittedly used the umbrella we packed to protect it at all costs.)

All in all, I can see why celebrities can't stop carrying this bag. It's lightweight but high quality, and its lack of flashy logos and its minimalist design make it easy to style no matter what color or material you choose to go with.

My Review: As much as I love a big bag full of necessities and nonnecessities, I also greatly appreciate a smaller option that I can easily throw on my arm and head out the door with. That's what, to me, the Romy Bucket Bag is great for. Multiple days in a row, the granite-gray version of this style was my go-to. I took it everywhere, from the office to after-work drinks, and never did it feel too small or limiting in any way. In fact, it fits a lot more than I would have expected it to, especially before seeing it in person.

One thing I especially love about this shape is how you can change the size of its opening by adjusting the belted strap and securing it in place with Tory Burch's new silver logo button. It's great for New York City living, a place where you don't want anyone to be able to see or reach inside your handbag. Immediately following New York Fashion Week back in February, I made a fall/winter 2024 wish list full of pieces I'd just spotted on the runway. On it were textured midi skirts, funnel-neck outerwear, almond-toe flats, and more. Though I wanted each and every piece at the time (and have either checked most of them off or bought something similar albeit budget-friendlier), one particular trend was and still is my favorite by a mile. Spotted at both Michael Kors Collection and Tory Burch, pony- or calf-hair pieces gave off an air of elegance and luxury that nothing else from the runways could compete with.

At Michael Kors, legendary supermodel Amber Valletta modeled a leopard-print calf-hair midi coat styled with simple black pumps and a timeless clasp-closure lady bag. Her signature blonde hair was pulled back in a tight chignon; the only makeup she appeared to have on was bright red lipstick. I, like many others who I spoke with afterward, was enamored. That same week, Tory Burch sent two looks down the runway that featured the sleek, textured material. One featured a calf-hair blazer and matching pencil skirt and the other showcased a cropped, moto-style jacket made of the fabric styled with khaki trousers. Again, I was sick with want.

A few months after fashion month's final finale walk, two new It bags began sparking conversation around the celebrity and influencer set. Saint Laurent's Le 6 à 7 hobo bag and Bea tote, both crafted out of leopard-print calf hair, were spotted around the world, in Los Angeles on A-listers like Hailey Bieber and Zoë Kravitz, in Paris on Kate Moss and Laura Harrier, and in Monza, Italy, on model and content creator Alexandra Saint Mleux, girlfriend of Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc. Both styles quickly sold out. Though, you can preorder one for delivery at the end of February.

Soon after Saint Laurent's bag boom, a maxi-length pony-fur coat from By Malene Birger began to take off online. Every editor posted photos in it from the fashion closet, while content creators did what they do best—create content—in theirs on the streets in Copenhagen, Paris, and London. Lauren Santo Domingo added it to her Moda Operandi closet—another surefire sign that an item's about to go viral and sell out. It nearly has, with sizes dwindling, though it appears online that a limited restock may be on the way later this month (fingers crossed). More sizes are also available in the cropped version, which is a great alternative if you're not ready to wear leopard-print pony hair from head to toe.
