It wasn't all that long ago that I wouldn't dream of going near peep-toe shoes. And truth be told, I hardly ever came across them when shopping anyway, as most brands had ceased making them. But as is the case with many things in fashion during any given season, peep-toes are cool again, and the recent runways of Khaite, Fendi, Tory Burch, and Saint Laurent (to name just a few) say so. And now, it's poised to be one of the biggest shoe trends of fall 2025.

As we inch closer to fall, it's fitting that cool dressers such as Sophie Turner would start trading basic pumps for this revived retro heel trend. Yes, her formfitting snakeskin (another major fall trend) midi dress would've also looked chic and cool with pumps, but the choice to pair it with peep toes (burgundy peep-toe mules, I might add) made it even cooler.

I rarely wear sneakers, preferring heels, flats, or boots to their sportier counterpart. The only exception is at the airport, where truly no other shoes are acceptable. Of course, some sneakers are better suited for TSA lines, takeoff delays, and long flights. More and more lately, celebrities are going all out at the airport, donning heels (or, in the case of Victoria Beckham, stiletto Pantaleggings), white pants that are just asking to be spilled on, and more seemingly inappropriate options for long-haul flights. I get it. They always have to be prepared for paparazzi, even at the airport—especially at the airport! Still, it can sometimes get a bit out of hand. Because of this, you can imagine my excitement when I spotted a photo of Sophie Turner with Peregrine Pearson at Heathrow Airport that showed the Game of Thrones actress wearing something completely and entirely TSA approved. Then again, she's the Queen in the North. Of course, she's a pro at everything, including airplane travel.

If you're going to spend a lot of money on a pair of shoes, it certainly softens the blow when they're shoes that have stood the test of time and that even celebrities love. In this instance, that celebrity is Sophie Turner, and the shoes are Manolo Blahnik Maysale Mules. In case you're not familiar, here's a little backstory about the Maysale mules: They were first created in 1991 when Isaac Mizrahi approached the brand to create a shoe with a pilgrim buckle for his runway show. Up until very recently, I pretty much only wore Uggs to walk the dog and go to Pilates classes. But after wearing them for a long car trip earlier this month and finding them to be glorious, I'm adding travel days to my list of places where I wear Uggs. And Sophie Turner's recent styling of a pair of Uggs for a flight has me even more convinced.

Turner was recently photographed at the airport wearing an Ugg outfit that was downright elegant. As cool as Uggs are, it isn't that easy to make them look elegant, given how casual they are. The pair the Turner opted for was the brand's wildly popular platform Tazz Slippers. She paired them with straight-leg jeans and a long black coat. Leave it to Miu Miu fans to have the coolest take on hot pants yet. Above, Camille wore a look from the brand's fall 2022 collection, which included tweed shorts, moto boots, and a double-belt situation. This take isn't for the faint of heart, but that's what makes it so good.

Leather hot pants just hit differently. I love the way an oversize button-down shirt balances out the tiny shorts. I'll be taking note on this styling idea for future outfits.

Don't get me wrong—Who What Wear editors love leggings, but the last time we reached for them (and a going-out top) ahead of a night out was during that historical fashion era known as the early aughts: bubble hems, layered tanks, and statement necklaces. So, while some of us are still debating whether or not to welcome low-rise jeans back into our closets, yours truly was surprised—and rather delighted—to see that there's another throwback staple reimaging as a stylish favorite: leggings. 

Sophie Turner Jonas turned heads when she wore a fitted Magda Butrym ensemble in fire-engine red to the unveiling of the Jonas Brothers' star on the Walk of Fame. The sophisticated, cropped wool jacket was embellished with rosettes and simultaneously contrasted and complemented the matching but much more casual-looking skinny pants (let's just call them leggings). Sophie Turner must get tired of people telling her that "winter is coming," but when she wears an outfit like this, can you really blame us? Sophie, winter is here, where are your pants?

The actress and mother of two showed off her long legs in a gorgeous Ganni blazer paired with sheer black tights and the most perfect pointy-toe pumps. 4. Sun-Kissed Blusher

Blusher has been making a big comeback, particularly among Gen Z. This time, though, it's all about the placement. Rather than just applying it to your cheeks, Gen Z sweep it onto the high points of the cheekbones and adds a light touch onto the nose to tie the look together, resulting in a naturally sun-kissed effect. Think the slight flush you might get on your skin after sitting in the sun for the afternoon.

Olivia Rodrigo's blusher is applied high onto the cheekbones with a dusting on the nose, too. Makeup artist Lilly Keys created this look for Rodrigo at this year's Grammys. "I combined together Cloud Paint in both Beam and Storm and blended onto the apples of the cheeks very lightly, using small circular motions with a fluffy brush, adding a tiny bit to the bridge of the nose for that sun-kissed, healthy glow," she says.

5. Graphic Liner

"One of the biggest trends being seen currently is graphic eye liner," notes Dominic Skinner, global senior artist at MAC Cosmetics. "However, it's uncomplicated and fuss-free. It's applied like an afterthought, though. That's what you're meant to believe. The key is to keep it simple by using pencils, but make it strong, intense and visible no matter what colour you use," he says.

We love a hint of blue, particularly on brown eyes.

Celebrity stylist Kate Young is responsible for some of the biggest fashion moments we've seen on the red carpet, and her illustrious list of clientele includes Selena Gomez, Margot Robbie, and Jennifer Lawrence. Before she became one of Hollywood's most in-demand wardrobe stylists, she worked in magazines, including a stint as Anna Wintour's assistant in 1997. Cut to 25 years later, and her career has come full circle. Now, Young frequently dresses her famous clients for one of the biggest nights in fashion—the Met Gala. 

In our latest episode, we chat with Young as she gets ready to style Dakota Johnson, Sophie Turner, and Julianne Moore for the big day. We learn about the inspiration behind all of their looks, the hardest lessons she had to learn from Met Galas past, and why she's on a big opulence kick as of late. Let's talk about this theme, which is the second of a two-part series celebrating American fashion. Last year, we had In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. This year, we have In America: An Anthology of Fashion. How are you interpreting that theme?

I'm not someone who does really insane, over-the-top looks for the Met. It's not really my thing. I don't do costume. And I like a certain kind of ease. So I always approached the Met Ball with what's appropriate, what would look cool in this space. I worked at Vogue for a long time. So I went to Met Balls and worked at them for years and years and years. And in my mind, I'm always thinking about what the image is going to look like of the client and the dress. And I still want it to look like them. I still want it to be part of the story that we're creating together. I've been on a real opulence tear of late, like I just want to see opulence. I think we've spent two years at home, and the world's kind of falling apart. You read the news, and it's really hard to feel happy or to feel excited about life, but the truth is life goes on, and if I'm gonna live, I want to see some sparkle and diamonds and glamour. I am really happy for a moment of escape, and I think that's what the Met is about. This is a night of frivolity. It's an extravaganza, so I already was thinking about that. 

For part one last year, you dressed Lili Reinhart and Sienna Miller, but to keep things interesting, you are dressing three different women this year—Sophie Turner, Julianne Moore, and Dakota Johnson. How did you arrive at their looks? 

So with Julianne Moore, she's going with Tom Ford. And the inspiration for that was Jackie Kennedy. We have this picture of Jackie Kennedy at an event, and she's wearing opera-length gloves and diamonds. I think she really symbolizes the lexicon of American fashion in a way although she wore a lot of French designers. She was a great American clotheshorse and the epitome of elegance, and [there are] lots of pictures of her in white-tie too. So that was the inspiration with Julianne. It's quite a classic, timeless, elegant evening look. Then Dakota is going with Gucci, so you know, opulence extravaganza is what we're dealing with. So that was fairly straightforward, and that look isn't entirely set yet, so it could go one of two ways, but the whole thing is spangled. Any way it goes, there's going to be spangles everywhere. That's our take on gilded glamour. It's just like, cover it in crystals. And then for Sophie Turner… Sophie's super pregnant, and she's wearing Louis Vuitton, and Louis Vuitton has a whole concept this Met Ball, which is that they're not making anything new as an eco move. So people are rewearing dresses they've worn before. They're wearing dresses other people have worn. The idea was the dress needed to exist. It was really fun going through all the Louis Vuitton archives and seeing what would look good on Sophie and what would suit her body right now. So she's wearing an older Louis Vuitton dress that's fully studded, and we're really going for the theme more in her hair and makeup than in her dress.

The [styling] process is a little bit different for the Met, where it's almost designer-led in that sense, correct?

One-hundred percent. So unless you're invited by Vogue—and then you can kind of wear whatever you want—you are going with a designer who bought your ticket, and you are there to embody their vision for this Met Gala. And so there is always a collaboration. I think it's why designers and actresses work well together, because everybody's an artist, and they like collaboration, and they get inspired by each other. But for me as a stylist, when a designer is taking an actress, I have a lot less control than I do when it's like the Oscars, where I have a rail of dresses, and I'm saying "This is the dress." For the Met, it's the designer saying, "This is the dress," and I'm going, "How are we making this look like her?" So it's funny. Like you said in the intro, it's the Super Bowl of fashion, and I'm like, "Meh, not really." For me, Cannes is the Super Bowl of fashion.

We've heard stories over the years of people having to stand the whole time so that there aren't wrinkles or something breaking at the last second and somebody having to sew their client in. I'm curious about any of your tips or tricks for massive moments like this.

My number one tip that I learned the hard way—and I think it's the best piece of advice I could give to any celebrity stylist—is that when you get to the room where they're going to have the hair and makeup done at the beginning, try the dress on them. That way, you accomplish a number of things: You know that the zipper works. You know that it fits, because a woman's measurements change three times a day. If they ate sushi last night, the zipper might be tight. So just to check everything. You usually have two or three hours, so you can solve things in that much time. And also just creatively for the hair and makeup, I think it's really good for them to see the dress in person. To look at it and look at her in the dress, they know what they're dealing with in a way. One time, we went to put on the dress, and the alterations were off, and I had to sew it, and it was a disaster. That was like 15 years ago, but I will never forget it was awful. I also had Nina Dobrev wear a 3D-printed dress one year, and she went in a sprinter, and Vogue had to be alerted because she couldn't sit in a chair. She had a little stool to sit in because her dress was hard. She literally couldn't sit back on anything.

Recently, I found myself in Julie Kandalec's exclusive, appointment-only nail salon, Julie K Nail Atelier. Kandalec is known for unique, refined manicures and the kind of nail art you've only dreamt of. She's also a manicurist to the stars who counts Jessica Chastaine, Camila Cabello, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, and Selena Gomez in her regular rotation of star-studded clientele.

Since she's constantly working with celebrities and campaigns, Kandalec also has a wealth of knowledge on all things nail trends. While she was doing my nails, I asked her every question under the sun about trends. One thing I was curious about (and I know everyone else is, too): What will be the next It nail color?

According to Kandalec, the answer is simple: lilac. The perfect color as the months get warmer, lilac is the ideal way to add a subtle pop to your fingertips. "As fans of Bridgerton know, lilac has huge meaning for the show," says Kandalec. "Like with most über-popular TV shows (ever heard of Euphoria?), beauty trends are wildly popular due to what the characters are wearing."

Plus, lilac is also endlessly wearable and flattering. "Lilac is incredibly easy to wear on a multitude of skin tones," Kandalec says.

Leave it to the Queen in the North to show up to her husband's ex-girlfriend's SNL party looking like a ray of sunshine—and debuting one of this season's top trends. On Saturday night, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas celebrated Taylor Swift's appearance on the weekly comedy show alongside Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Cara Delevingne, and Anya Taylor-Joy. For the occasion, Turner wore a black leather shacket from Nour Hammour, a matching Louis Vuitton mini bag, and a bright-yellow two-piece suit from Camilla and Marc. But while we'd be happy to copy her entire look, the tailored co-ord is what we really can't seem to forget.

Turner's suit featured a slightly boxy waistcoat with matching wide-leg trousers, a look that's been growing in popularity for the last year. Congratulations are in order for our favorite Hollywood couple. On Tuesday, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas celebrated their five-year anniversary, and of course, they did so in style—Turner especially. One of our favorite couples in Hollywood, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, has some big news: They've just welcomed their first child together. Congratulations to the new family of three! The new bundle of joy is reportedly a girl named Willa, TMZ revealed. How cute of a name is that? According to the Social Security Administration, the name Willa is outside the top 300 girls' names in the U.S., making it a uniquely beautiful moniker.

With Kevin Jonas's two daughters, that means that the Jonas Brothers' offspring now includes a trio of girls. Are we sensing a Jonas Cousins band in their future? (Only time will tell if Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra will add to the group of girl cousins.) Of course, we're sad to say goodbye to Sophie Turner's amazing pregnancy style, but we'll be anxiously awaiting the first image of baby Willa when the parents are ready.

Widely known around the world for her role as the icy and impervious Sansa Stark, the 24-year-old Game of Thrones star gained a new legion of followers when she started dating singer Joe Jonas in 2016. The duo continued to make headlines in all the best ways (including their coordinating Louis Vuitton looks during awards season), and surprised everyone with their Las Vegas elopement following the Billboard Music Awards in May of 2019. The Jonases had a formal wedding ceremony with family and friends the following month in France, and have been spotted out and about together in New York and Los Angeles in 2020. 

News of Turner's pregnancy broke in February of this year, so it's safe to assume that baby Jonas will be arriving in the next several weeks.
