Although I grew up in Boston and should be used to it by now, I have the unfortunate quality of hating winter. The way this manifests is very much like a chihuahua: a stubborn aversion to leaving the house once it drops below a certain temperature, nestled under blankets.

As I live in New York City, where we just had a snowstorm this week, I have to admit I haven’t been leaving the house much. I know, I know—it feels better to get fresh air, but I just don’t like being cold. To be warm enough when I go outside, I have to wear two layers of clothes, which I also don’t like. For instance, today has a high of 21°F and a low of 5°F…

As a result, I’ve been finding ways to curate more of a winter loungewear wardrobe so I can feel cozy while spending more time at home. My personal favorite option is nightgowns that make me feel like I’m wearing a dress, and I’ve also been loving the pointelle sets from Cou Cou Intimates.

Ever since Skims launched, it feels like everything the brand does ends up on my For You page. Everyone’s talking “poolside skin” this and “guava girl summer” that. Well, Kris Jenner has just ushered in the only beauty trend I care about this summer: Nonnacore. An amalgamation of all my favorite things (’80s style! Italian luxury! Last week, shapewear and clothing brand Skims announced a Valentine's Day–themed lingerie collaboration with singer Lana Del Rey, and we can't stop gushing over the stunning promos populating our social media feeds. I zeroed in on three pieces of clothing I’ve been complimented on frequently, which have now become go-tos when putting outfits together. Faux leather is one of them. There’s something inherently sleek and fashionable when it comes to faux leather. We often think of pants or jackets, but there are so many options to choose from. I'm just going to say it: Most people who claim to not like Skims probably haven't tried it yet. Sure, when you pull one of its shapewear onesies out of the box, it looks like something only your old American Girl doll could fit into. But once you get it on and situated (which might take a few minutes), it's hard to argue with the product's quality and comfort. With super-soft T-shirts, underwear, and slips and shapewear that works, our editors agree that Kim Kardashian and Skims co-founder Jens Grede did good. Their next venture? Swimwear. 

Today, the duo launched Skims Swim, the brand's first-ever line of water-friendly one-pieces and separates, all of which are available in sizes XXS to 4X. The collection, which starts at $32, has been in the making for a long time. "We've really taken the time to make sure we're offering the best solutions for our customers," Kardashian said in a press release. According to her, the goal was to create swimwear that wouldn't feel daunting to women by simplifying the process of shopping for the beach and to develop a line that would work for everyone. "Whether you prefer a more covered-up style or something more revealing, the collection is designed to be layered and built upon," she continued. Think bike shorts and T-shirts as well as Kardashian-Jenner favorites like string bikinis and cutout one-pieces. 

Here's the catch. Like most of Skims's drops, the hype around the brand's first swimwear line is big—like really big. I saw three TikToks about it just during my allotted 10-minute scroll this morning. In other words, the 19-piece collection below won't stay in stock for long. I think that most of us can recall many times in which we've visited an item over and over before finally deciding to order it. I know I have. That was exactly the case with the item I'm about to discuss, even though it's only $42. 

This week, after finally taking the time to read many of the 165 Nordstrom reviews, I went ahead and hit the "place order" button, unsure of what took me so long. The item I've been building up to is the Skims Boyfriend T-Shirt, and it happens to be my first Skims clothing purchase, even though I've heard great things about the brand since its inception. I'm a sucker for a good oversize T-shirt, and this one seems incredibly soft with a nice drape without being too stiff or too thin.

The numerous Nordstrom reviews I read confirm that it was indeed a smart purchase. Exclamations that the tees are buttery-soft and comfortable, the perfect length and fit, and good enough to buy in multiple colors (all of which are chic) finally convinced me to order the Clay color. I plan on wearing it for lounging at home but also out for casual occasions, just as many of the reviewers said they do.

As someone who's been watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians since season one and is currently rewatching (thanks, Hulu!), I've always believed Kim Kardashian to be a genius. Not many agreed with me for some time, but when she released her stellar line of shapewear, people finally started to see what I was talking about. Review: "Like wearing a cloud—that's how I'd describe this Skims set. I thought I knew comfy loungewear before the Cozy collection came into my life, but it turns out I was wrong. Cozy doesn't even cut it. The texture makes it feel like you're being enveloped in a warm hug, and this has been my at-home uniform lately during a particularly cold and snowy bout of NYC winter. While I've been wearing the two pieces as a set, the baby tee is giving me a '90s feel, so I want to style it on its own with some high-waisted denim, too."

Review: "I'll be the first to admit that I love Skims. For real. If anyone mentions the brand, I'll immediately go into a monologue about the Fits Everybody Thong ($18) and the brand's T-shirts that feel like air. I even willingly tested out the Waist Trainer ($68) on a 90-degree day for a story and was thoroughly impressed. Knowing that, when I tried out the Cotton Mock Neck Tank ($34) and matching Cotton Rib Boxers ($32), I had high expectations. For starters, I loved the fabric on both pieces, with one being a super-soft, standard cotton material and the other being a ribbed fabric. They both hugged my body in a really nice way while simultaneously smoothing over any bra- or underwear-related bumps. That being said, I wasn't a huge fan of the waistband on the boxers, which is what I thought I would love most about them. While it is a cute touch, it made the boxers quite uncomfortable for long-term wear, making me less interested in wearing them to bed (the exact time I planned to wear them most). As for the tank, my only complaint would be the way it is cut in the underarm area. If the chest on the shirt was slightly wider, it would be a bit more flattering in that spot."

Review: "It's the dead of winter, and if you're anything like me, you're spending a lot more time at home than you're used to. I've been using this set as a starting player in my hibernation lineup, and it's been amazing. The fabric is so soft and cozy, and when you live alone, you just need to wear something that feels like a warm hug sometimes. Accurately dubbed the Cozy collection, it's honestly lived up to its name. My only complaint is that the fit on the bra was a bit weird for me since I have a bigger bust. In the future, I'd match the pants with my colleague Katie Berohn's tee."

The day we've all been waiting for is finally here: The Fendi x Skims collab drops today. On Tuesday, the long-awaited collaboration between Skim's founder Kim Kardashian West and Fendi creative director Kim Jones—both of whom were recognized at this year's Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards—arrived at last (though, it won't be around for very long).

The 125-piece collection, which includes everything from velvet and leather dresses at Fendi prices (from $1000) to shape- and swimwear at Skims prices (under $200), has—like so many of Kardashian West's collections for Skims—been met with an abundance of excited shoppers. In other words, pieces are flying off the digital shelves, with even the entrepreneur's $4200 leather dress, which she wore to the Innovator Awards earlier this month, selling out. If you're located in Los Angeles, you can see the pieces IRL at a pop-up shop that's open from now until November 28 at 323 Rodeo Drive.

A Week Away star Bailee Madison knows how to curate a cozy wardrobe. 

Madison is a huge fan of Kim Kardashian's Skims and admits that she bought a full set after her best friend convinced her.

"She was like, 'You have to get it. You have to get it.' Sure enough, I finally did, and it's like a cloud. It's so comfortable," she says. 

Madison loves pieces that she can wear all of the time, like one of her favorites from NakedCashmere.

"If I could just live in this I would," she adds. 

She even owns a cardigan from Taylor Swift's merch line for Folklore because she wanted to match the pop icon: "I wanted to twin with her. Who wouldn't?"

We can't argue with that.

Madison has also started collecting statement purses that happen to be designed by her friends. One of her recent acquisitions is a timeless white Longchamp bag.

"I'm now becoming a [handbag] girl because my friends, who are really talented, are sending me pieces of theirs, and I love celebrating them," she says. 

Madison is ahead of the curve when it comes to fall shoe trends. Her black Stuart Weitzman loafers have a special place in her heart—and a good story behind them. 

Ahead of her first trip to the UK, Madison felt like she had to get a good pair of loafers to bring with her, but she forgot to break them in before she landed."Cut to about an hour later, blisters walking all around London," she says.

Don't worry. They're broken in now.

"No blisters, they feel great, and they've got some rain stains on them. I love them," she adds.

Madison also loves to rep her home state of Florida. Most of Madison's siblings went to The University of Florida, so when she spotted a T-shirt with the school's logo on it in an unusual location, she couldn't pass it up.

"I was in the UK again, and my flight was delayed, so I was walking around and stepped into Urban Outfitters, and they had a Gators shirt there," she says.

A few years ago, I made a solemn vow to never again wear shapewear. It came after an uncomfortable evening wearing shapewear underneath a dress that, although perfectly fitting, was made from a clingy fabric, and I thought said shapewear would give me a seamless silhouette. How wrong I was. Instead of the no-VPL look I was hoping for, I found the areas where the shapewear stopped and my body began now boasted bulges that weren't there in the first place, thus making me insecure about things I wasn't insecure about previously. The experience was enough to wean me off the stuff for life. That was until I started hearing the growing buzz around Skims shapewear.

The brainchild of Kim Kardashian, Skims is the star's very own brand of shapewear, which offers nine different colours and includes bodysuits, shorts, bras, bralettes, push-up bras and more. Although I'm constantly seeing snaps of influencers in their Skims loungewear (which is the epitome of chic), it's the range's shapewear that commands the most hype. You need only to google the term "Skims shapewear" to see thousands upon thousands of rave reviews, proclaiming it to be the most inclusive, most varied and most effective shapewear out there. That was enough to pique my interest and shelf my cynicism.

Here's how Skims describes the impetus behind the brand on its website: "Searching for the best shapewear and underwear over the years, Kim became frustrated with the lack of options available and couldn't find anything that offered the right support, coverage or shade. This led her to cut up and dye pieces at home, sewing them together to get the solutions and results she wanted. Skims is Kim's answer to shapewear that actually works. Designed to smooth, enhance, lift and tone—each piece has a solution for every body." Sounds good, right? 

Editors from Who What Wear's US arm were some of the first to try Skims shapewear when it launched. Their verdict? "At first glance, they looked really intimidating and so tiny, so I was really nervous about trying them on—however, they were surprisingly easy (for shapewear) to put on," says Sarah Yang, managing editor of THE/THIRTY. "I thought there was going to be a lot of yanking and pulling and contorting my body, but nope! After putting them on, I did feel like I had to catch my breath for a bit because they were so tight. They definitely got the job done, though—smoothing everything out and sucking everything in. I don't know if I'd be able to wear them for the whole day (I can't wear any kind of shapewear for the whole day), but for a few hours to an event or a party? I can handle that."

And with reviews like that, I just might have to see what the fuss is about for myself. With ingenious designs—including sculpting shorts with one leg longer than the other that are perfect for all the split-front dresses I seem to harbour—it would appear that sartorial problem solving is another string Kardashian can add to her bow.

By now, you and the rest of the world are probably up to date with the newest venture from Kim Kardashian. Skims—a loungewear-meets-intimates-meets-shapewear brand—launched almost two years and has already secured retail space at big-name retailers like Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter, and Ssense. Of course, as with almost anything Kardashian does, Skims launched with much fanfare and press, but I'll admit I was a bit skeptical. Celebrity-founded or celebrity-endorsed clothing lines come a dime a dozen, and as a fashion editor, your eye becomes even more discerning. But unlike the trove of those celeb brands, I kept hearing from my peers that Skims is actually good. To be even more precise, my friends called it a game-changer. While shapewear and seamless intimates have always been a thing, until Skims, they haven't been as accessible in such a diverse range of flesh-tone colors and sizes at a relatively affordable price point.

Most of you know that I live for a try-on haul, so today, I'm diving into Skims's selection of loungewear. The homebody in me couldn't resist the proposition of cozy sweatsuits and bodysuits, so I took them for a test run over the course of a month. Keep scrolling to see all of the pieces I tried along with my honest opinions on each. Cotton Rib Boxer

It feels like suddenly everyone is getting into boxer briefs. No longer just for men, more and more brands have integrated the silhouette into their loungewear collections, but I was pretty skeptical. I wouldn't consider myself a shorts person, but when it starts to get unbearably hot, regular pants don't cut it. These felt delightfully lightweight and not constricting at all, especially around the thigh area. Another plus is they have a high waist for an added style element that looks a little more elevated than your typical lounge shorts.

Cotton Rib Bodysuit

If we're talking toxic shopping habits, bodysuits are my vice. I hoard them in uncontrollable numbers, so I know when I see a good bodysuit. This one is made out of a ribbed material that feels deceptively soft, so it's a great base layer for any tricky outfits. I styled mine with the Cotton Rib Boxers, and it was a look.

Velour Hoodie & Velour Jogger

Get ready to be swaddled in the softest cloud of fabric you've ever felt in your life. Once I put this on, I simply couldn't take it off. Since we've been inside the house for most of this year, I didn't have to. I've never felt a velour this cozy and warm, but the comfy plushness wasn't the only thing I loved about this set. The hoodie is a bit cropped, which adds that extra flair to feel super on-trend. Unfortunately, the color I chose is sold out, but there's a decadent chocolatey color in stock.

Boyfriend Long-Sleeve T-Shirt

Sometimes, all you want to do is throw on the biggest T-shirt you can find and call it a day. Here is a shirt for those occasions. Designed for an oversize fit, this certainly feels like something I grabbed out of my boyfriend's T-shirt drawer (minus the faded colors and questionable stains). Like most things from Skims, it's softer than soft, and I paired my tee with the boxers to match.

Stretch Cotton T-Shirt

I can't resist a fitted white tee. It's basically a key element of my summer uniform. This has a great amount of stretch that clings to every curve without feeling constricting. It runs slightly large, so you may want to size down for a very fitted look.

Velour Wrap Robe

A robe is practically my second skin when I'm in the house. I wear them so much it has become a running joke among my family and friends that I do everything in them. I gave this one a try after being pleasantly surprised by the rest of the pieces from Skims, and I was not disappointed. Whenever the L.A. weather decides to spontaneously chill up or I'm binge-watching a new series, this robe is right at my side. It truly feels like being continuously enveloped in a warm hug.

Fits Everybody Brief

While these aren't technically loungewear, I have to give a shout-out to one of my favorite styles of seamless underwear. Whether I'm styling a shoot or wearing them for myself, I always keep a pair on hand in a variety of colors.

It's sad to admit, but I truly neglected my underwear collection all 2021. With loungewear firmly dominating last year, all of my fancy dresses and pants were sort of shoved to the back of the closet, and intricate lingerie didn't feel like much of a priority. But as we all know, good underwear is the workhorse of any wardrobe, and I'm looking to redeem myself here in 2022.

In the spirit of January's unofficial motto of "new year, new me," I decided to do a full-on purge of my lingerie drawer, and rebuild my collection from scratch. Fortunately, revamping was as simple as clicking over to Amazon, Nordstrom, and Target for a quick browse. If you're like me, you have different underwear for different occasions: thongs and seamless styles to avoid visible panty lines, pretty lingerie to feel fancy, and cotton or full-coverage briefs for when comfort reigns supreme. Below, I've put together a list of all of the pairs I'm buying now to replace my undies of yesteryear. Cheers to new underwear, and happy purging! 

Cotton

Airy, breathable cotton is the foundation of any good underwear collection. No, it's not the most glamourous or cutting-edge material, but when you're lounging in bed or on your couch during a cozy night in, comfort trumps all. I like grabbing packs of multiples from Amazon because they're basic and not fussy, but should you want something a bit fancier, Skims and Everlane have options that feel a tad more luxe.

Pretty

There's a time and place for form over function, and that's where pretty panties come in. Never underestimate the power of aesthetically pleasing underwear; others may not see them, but it sure does make you feel good. I'm currently obsessed with Baserange's sheer checkered ones and these lacy yet comfortable boy shorts from Hanky Panky. 

Thong

What they say about thongs is really true: You either love them, or you hate them. Even if they're not your first choice, I'd say it's practical to have a few pairs on hand should your outfit demand a nearly invisible panty line. For the reluctant, choose soft materials that feel light to the touch. It will make wearing them a way more pleasant experience. I'm a fan of Cosabella for nice-looking thongs as well as Commando and Nubian Skin for flesh-tone thongs that blend in underneath sheer bottoms or dresses.
