Miles Davis once said, "Man, sometimes it takes you a long time to sound like yourself." I think the same is true of appearance; sometimes it takes a long time to look like yourself, too. For me, it started with a dramatic haircut at the age of 16. Previously, my dark blonde, wavy hair fell long past my waist. At that time, I was deep into a fierce obsession with the 1970s, and I genuinely believed my long, beachy hair was paying homage to Iggy Pop, or perhaps, on a good day, Stevie Nicks. My wardrobe reflected this fantasy too; I had become especially enthralled by a pair of gold leather Fiorucci trousers. Suffice to say, if the outfit didn't look like an ageing rockstar, I didn't want it.

But by the time I turned 16, my relationship with my hair began to change. I was studying, and my world was expanding. I was submerged in philosophy, English literature and film. I was discovering the things that would shape the intricacies of who I am: books, clothes, ideas and the people I admired. I was becoming the sort of person I am today: someone who would rather elicit a laugh than a compliment on my appearance.

The women I admired seemed to possess a different kind of beauty. I adored the crispness of a perfectly cut suit; seeing women wear Bella Freud tailoring made my heart sing. There was something about what it projected, perhaps the professionalism and seniority it represents. The appeal wasn't separate from their minds, nor was their identity centred on appearance alone. Increasingly, I felt my long hair didn't represent any of that. By that point, I wasn't so much concerned with following conventional ideas of what was "pretty", or, as my dad liked to remind me, "fanciable". He was convinced boys preferred girls with long hair. I only cared about being chic.

The turning point was when my love affair with French culture started to bubble. I was obsessed with French films, music, men—and dare I say, cheese. Then I watched Amélie (2001). The moment I saw Audrey Tautou, that was it; I was sold on the idea of cutting my hair into a bob. If I could get close to Amélie, or at the very least, Margo in The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), I would be happy. Like most decisions I make, I was decisive. I booked an appointment and cut all my hair off. As the lengths fell around me in the hairdresser's chair, everything felt strangely right. I remember vividly how different it felt to lie in bed that night without my hair spilling across the pillow, and how strange it was to run my hands through it in the shower the next morning. But from that day forward, I knew I would never grow it long again—I was me.

Now that I’m older, it's striking to think just how monumental that haircut was. What I realise now is that I wasn't rejecting femininity; I was trying to invent a different version of it to become the woman I wanted to be. The bob felt deliberate. Long hair, in contrast, felt conventional and, to me, carried associations I didn't particularly want, to a version of womanhood that prioritised softness or prettiness. Of course, hair doesn't determine personality, but the bob seemed to suggest the alternative.

Hair historian Rachael Gibson explains, "Through most of history, white women in Western countries have been associated with long hair. It's inextricably linked to long-held ideas of femininity and beauty standards, so anything that challenges it remains connected with ideas of strength, freedom and modernity." Perhaps that's why the haircut felt so significant.

Of course, these meanings aren't universal. Gibson stresses that the symbolism of hair changes dramatically across cultures, religions and histories. In many Black communities, for example, hair carries entirely different political and personal meanings, shaped by histories of colonialism, discrimination and cultural pride. Across South Asia, East Asia and Indigenous cultures, long hair has often symbolised spirituality, ancestry or strength rather than passive femininity. The idea that long hair simply equals traditional womanhood is largely a product of white Western beauty ideals, and I recognise that my relationship with the bob belongs to that particular cultural context, not a universal one. Gibson points out that when women first adopted bobbed hair in the early twentieth century, it represented much more than a trend. "Short hair represented a shift in women's liberation and all the freedoms that came with it," she says.

Of course, I wasn't making a political statement at 17 or thinking about first-wave feminism, but that doesn't mean the cultural baggage wasn't there. The bob haircut has always carried a particular set of associations. Looking back at Louise Brooks in the 1920s, Vidal Sassoon's sharp geometric cuts of the 1960s or the power bobs of the 1990s worn by women like Anna Wintour and Linda Evangelista, again and again, the hairstyle appears on women associated with authority, creativity and independence. As Gibson puts it, "We tend to associate shorter hair with a certain type of woman: someone strong, someone cool, someone independent." And certain women have indeed become almost inseparable from their bob, whether that's Wintour or Alexa Chung.

Sam McKnight MBE, hairstylist and founder of haircare brand Hair by Sam McKnight, explains it perfectly. "The silhouette is a powerful thing. You instantly recognise someone by their silhouette. Think of Anna Wintour, Marilyn Monroe, Cleopatra! A bob has all the complexities that women do; the cut can be strong yet feminine, alluring yet commanding, strong [yet] soft and romantic."

He notes, "Alexa [Chungs]’s bob is always at the top of the Pinterest board because she knows when to make small tweaks and it feels instantly new. Whatever version of a bob she has, the essence of her is always there." Perhaps that's why the bob has endured for more than a century. It isn't one hairstyle, but hundreds. A sharp chin-length bob with blunt ends projects authority and precision. A softer French bob suggests creativity and insouciance, whilst a longer, shaggy version feels artistic, slightly rebellious and less interested in perfection. The silhouette remains recognisable, but its style can be ever-evolving. Like tailoring, it's endlessly adaptable; you can make it clean, romantic, or rock and roll.

At 17, I wanted all of those things at once. I wanted to seem intellectual without being boring, attractive without being accommodating, feminine without being conventional, in the same way as Elastica’s Justine Frischmann. The bob felt like it held all those possibilities. For a while, I genuinely believed that if I looked like those women, I might become them, but what happened instead was something better. The haircut became part of my identity as Eve, a kind of shorthand for the person I wanted to be: curious, opinionated, funny, ambitious and hopefully, just a little bit chic. Looking back, I realise I wasn't trying to look like Audrey Tautou or Justine Frischmann forever; I was borrowing confidence until I found my own, and that's what style so often does. We imitate before we individuate. Eventually, the references fall away, and what remains is you.

Years later, I still have my bob, and I've learnt that there is something deeply valuable about allowing yourself to become who you are. I think it is so important for women to believe in themselves, to take risks and see whether that next step leads them a little closer to who they are. Sometimes it won't, sometimes you'll get it wrong, but occasionally you make a decision that feels less like becoming someone new and more like recognising someone who you were all along.

Last week, a sales assistant in Tom Ford looked at me and said, "I'm from Jamaica, from a family of spiritual women; we know things. You have power. I can tell you're going to do big things. I mean, look at you, girl, with your Anna Wintour bob." I laughed, but I knew exactly what she meant. The bob has always carried cultural meaning. For more than a century, it has been associated with women who refuse to do what is expected of them, women who choose themselves. As McKnight says, a bob provides "a true sense of individuality, a rock-and-roll, devil-may-care rebellious streak. And we all love a rebel."

If there's ever a time I even consider getting the chop, it's summer. I have very long, thick hair that requires a lot of styling, and in warmer weather, I dream of having shorter strands that don't require as much work. That being said, I'm yet to come across a bob hair trend that really speaks to me. So, to get some much-needed inspiration, I turned to not one, not two, but three top hair experts to ask them about the biggest summer bob trends of 2026. Turns out, there are some seriously chic shorter hairstyles to choose from. "The best thing about a good bob haircut is that it grows out beautifully, so it’s a brilliant low-commitment way to try a shorter hairstyle for summer," says Mark Woolley, founder of Electric London. "Whether it’s a shoulder-length lob or bixie, the bob is everywhere this summer as it is versatile and suits all hair types."

Of course, curly hair isn't a trend, but for summer, it's all about that tousled texture. "This tousled bob embraces soft, natural waves [or curls]—think effortless-looking texture and a matte finish," says Woolley. If you're not blessed with natural waves or curls, Woolley recommends twisting small sections of hair around a small tong, then shaking out with your fingers before adding a little salt spray.

"One of the biggest shifts we're seeing is a move towards cuts that work with the hair's natural texture, rather than against it," says Sansone. "This bob is designed to look beautiful without requiring daily heat styling, making it a particularly relevant choice for summer. The shape is created through subtle internal layering and carefully considered weight distribution, allowing the hair to fall naturally whilst maintaining structure. "A crisp, one-length bob will never go out of fashion and is one of your hairdresser’s favourite haircuts," says Sakkas. "It skims the jawline, oozes confidence and is a timeless look. It suits all face shapes and is great for thicker or straight hair. The best thing about summer hair trends is that they aren't really all that rigid—literally and figuratively. We tend to see lots of airy, textured silhouettes on the rise, yet the trends themselves also aren't too stringent. As celebrity hairstylist Sky Kim shares, "Summer always brings hair back to freedom. It’s less structured, more expressive." As we shed our winter layers for linen sets and breezy slips, hair becomes looser, more lived-in—especially in 2026, when embracing piece-y movement is very much en vogue.

"2025 was sleek, minimal, and controlled. 2026 is expressive, textural, and a little rebellious in a wearable way," adds Kim. As such, we're seeing polished cuts and styles give way to bolder (yet still natural) iterations, all of which you can find when you scroll ahead.

Just a quick note before diving in: While I've labelled some haircuts and colours below as "out," by no means am I saying they should stay buried. Beauty trends have a funny way of cycling in and out of the spotlight, so you might very well see them again once fall rolls back around. For summer 2026, though, these are the seven swaps on the rise.

Out: Blunt Bobs | In: Lived-In Layers

If you sported a chin-skimming crop last summer, you're not alone. It was arguably the year of the bob—from voluminous "Riviera" bobs to sleek Prada" bobs to '60s-inspired "flipped" bobs—and if you, too, committed to the shorter cut, you're probably currently residing in lob territory. As you encompass the grow-out period, try leaning into soft movement and texture (such as airy layers) as opposed to blunt bobs.

Celebrity hairstylist Reece Walker agrees: "Many clients who had strong blunt bobs are now growing them out and really embracing hair that feels less structured and more lived-in," he shares. Consider it the pendulum swing from bold, sophisticated cuts to styles with more of an "undone" feel.

Out: Solid Cool Tones | In: Warmth and Dimension

"Flat, one-note hair colour is fading, especially overly cool, ashy tones that don’t reflect light," says Kim. "Instead, people are leaning into dimension and natural undertones. Think warm blondes, reds that enhance what’s already in your hair, and brunettes with subtle tonal ribbons. It’s very reflective, very alive—colour that shifts in the light rather than sitting flat." Walker echoes her declaration, adding that dimension in colour is going to be huge. "Less flat, solid colour and more depth and movement," he notes.

Dakota Johnson is the perfect example, as she recently transformed her rich brunette length to a dimensional dirty blonde at this year's Time 100 gala. It's the first time in years she switched up her go-to shade, so that's when you know the colour trend has legs. Time this as your sign to book in for some balayage.

Out: Blended Curtain Bangs | In: "Bratty" Bangs

Long curtain bangs are A+ for those who aren't necessarily ready to commit to the bang life, but in summer 2026, there's little room for middle ground. "Soft, overly blended curtain bangs are out," Kim asserts. Instead? A bold, "bratty" side bang reigns supreme. "It’s shorter, slightly choppier and more intentional. It sits higher, hits around the cheekbone or brow, and feels a little undone in a way that gives attitude rather than softness," she adds. "It’s less about perfectly feathered face framing and more about creating shape and edge."

Out: Subtle Tones | In: Expressive Colour

While haircuts are becoming increasingly more lived-in, "Colour is where it gets exciting," notes Kim. "We’re seeing a move toward dimensional, expressive colour, similar to that Alyssa Liu energy where it feels bold and wild." You don't necessarily have to commit to a halo hair colour like Liu, but for those craving more of a summer statement, consider this your sign to embrace high-contrast (dare I say ombré?) hair. "I think the drastic dual tones are coming back, like Billie Eilish’s green hair roots, dark tips, etc.," adds Kim.

Out: Glassy Slick-Backs | In: Textured Updos

Allow me to clarify: a slick-back will never truly fall out of favour. But stylists can't ignore the onslaught of lived-in, piece-y updos that just feel unrestricted. Shares Kim, "2025 felt very controlled, sleek, polished, and almost uniform—a lot of glass hair, tight finishes, and minimal variation. 2026 is breaking that open. There’s more personality, more texture, and more confidence in letting hair feel lived-in." Again, slick-backs will never be fully "out," but they are becoming less helmet-like. "Even when the look is polished, it’s not rigid. It’s less about perfection and more about identity," Kim adds.

Out: Tucked Bobs | In: Tucked Bixies

Remember when the tucked bob (aka a bob secured behind one or both ears) became all the buzz? We're starting to see a similar style take shape this summer, but it's a tad shorter, kissing the nape of the neck instead of the tops of the shoulders. Celebs like Gracie Abrams, Carey Mulligan, and Olandria Carthen (pictured above) have all embraced the chic tucked pixie cut, choosing to tuck their pixie behind just one ear to show off their bone structure. That said, you could also clip the pieces away using a subtle bobby pin or bold hair accessory. Artist's choice!

Out: Bombshell Blowouts | In: "C" Curls

Like classic slick-backs, bouncy, bombshell blowouts will never completely go away. Feel free to enjoy your '90s style all summer long, but if you want to embrace the new It-girl blowout, try your hand at softer "C" curls. "It’s a classic French blowout but with a nice bend and 'C' shape at the ends," explains celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who recently created the look for Gigi Hadid. "Instead of a flat-ironed straight hair look, this is a beautiful blowout with a gorgeous bend."

According to the pro, it also looks divine paired with a feathery, mid-length cut. "This look is very modern and fresh," he adds. "The 'C' curl is going to be the new hairstyle for the summer!"

The Best Styling Products for Summer 2026 Hair Trends

It's no secret that beauty's most influential trends, no matter how polarizing, tend to be resurrected after 20-odd years. Think crimped waves (hey, Wuthering Heights–era Margot Robbie), frosted Y2K lids and lips, and even—gasp!—2016 makeup. More than any other category, however, hair seems to be the most cyclical. Case in point: mullets, shags, and the celeb-worn love child of both, the wolf cut. We've seen it on celebs like Miley Cyrus, Keke Palmer, and Cara Delevingne, and it continues to be a popular style for anyone who prefers androgynous hairstyles or simply wants to freshen up their strands. Today, the wolf cut isn't merely a trend. It's cementing itself as a classic.

We watched in awe as this shaggy shear regained popularity from 2022 to 2024, and though it's no longer making headlines as a trailblazing new look, it's still alive and well in salons and on the street. Celebrity hairstylist and salon founder Benjamin Mohapi, who actually gave Billie Eilish her iconic cut, says the wolf is "just another name for a shape that's been around since the late '60s and early '70s." This isn't the style's first rodeo. We just love to rebrand things. "Over the years, it's been called the coupe sauvage, the Klute, and the shag, but they're all rooted in the same concept," he explains.

"Because it's a shape that works well on a lot of people, it naturally sticks around," Mohapi adds. "But as trends evolve, the shape needs to evolve too." Keep reading to learn more about this new classic.

What is the wolf cut?

"The wolf cut is a hybrid between a shag and a mullet, combining the shag's heavy, choppy layers with the longer length and shape of a mullet in the back," says Christine Bellemare, a Boston-based hairstylist and the cofounder of the salon Maven, A Collect. It's traditionally marked by extreme layers that offer tousled texture throughout the crown and around the face, plus a smattering of bangs, but modern interpretations are a bit softer and more intentional.

Mohapi explains that "texture and flippy, tapered ends" were the mode du jour when the style spiked between '22 and '24. "These days, we're moving toward more solid-looking shapes with less tapered ends and less flicky movement," he says. The stylist references The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards and Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen circa 2010; we think of Suki Waterhouse's long, flowy version and Jenna Ortega's choppy cut. "People are either growing the shape out for a bouncier '80s feel or cutting it back into a boxier '90s Britpop version," he explains. "Both feel super cool and are a great modern take on the concept."

Wolf Cut Style Inspiration in 2026

The Suki Shag

Waterhouse's long, dreamy '70s-inspired wolf cut is the stuff rock-star hair is made of. "On longer hair, the layers don't have to feel overly drastic," says Bellemare. "It's really more about placing them slightly shorter than you normally would but in a very soft, diffused way." She also points out this cut is a great choice for summer "because it allows natural texture and curls to cascade more organically" instead of the heaviness that can happen with blunt cuts.

Curly Wolf

Curly textures look especially amazing with this fringy cut. Take content creator Veronica Campos's curly wolf cut, for example. The hair is clipped short above her forehead and cascades longer past her ears into long, voluminous spirals. Not only does this zhuzhed-up style look freer and more effortless than the wolf cuts of yore, but we also love that it celebrates natural texture.

Effortless Shag

Mohapi spotlights Beha Erichsen's shaggy crop circa 2010 as his North Star of wolf cut references in modern day. "[It] feels like a more modern take, even though it's obviously a retro reworking of a classic cut," he explains. "While the long, flicky, glassy blowouts are very in right now, those flicky ends don't translate as well on shorter styles and can read a bit dated. A more solid shape with texture feels like a fresher, more modern entry point."

Wavy Bangs

Delevingne has always been on our "hair goals" board, but this recent post is the one we're sending to our hairstylists. Her swooping bangs embrace the natural bends of her hair texture before giving way to her beachy, cascading tresses. This look is a must for summer, if you ask us.

Wispy Wolf

Ciara Miller's wispy bangs are one of our favorite looks that the star has donned thus far, and this piecey style is a great way to try a baby wolf cut without fully committing to the bit. Ask for wispy curtain bangs that graze your eyelids and blend seamlessly into the length of your hair for the subtlest shag.

Curtain Shag

There's never been a better time to get dramatic curtain bangs (one of our editors did so after getting inspired by Penélope Cruz's swooping fringe), and this style on Your Friends & Neighbors star Isabel Gravitt feels especially fresh for 2026. To enhance the edgy style, go for the tousled curls that celebrity hairstylist Chad Kenyon added to her hair.

Micro Wolf

If you're not yet ready to take the plunge, Bellemare recommends this versatile variant. "A softer 'micro wolf' or shaggy bob is a great gateway version," the stylist says. Take Alexa Chung's barely-there layers and collarbone-skimming crop, for instance. "I love incorporating invisible layers, curtain fringe, or textured collarbone-length cuts for clients who want the vibe without fully committing to heavy layering," Bellemare continues.

Long Mullet

For a real retro look, go for this shorn mullet look worn by content creator Amy Lefévre. She keeps her inky tresses long but keeps the bangs full in the front with the exception of a rocker-chic shear to keep things from looking too pristine.

Halo Hair

Sabrina Carpenter's hair—often perfectly coiffed in a swooping retro style—is looking like our ultimate vacation hair goals with looser, more natural curls taking center stage. Her normally dramatic curtain bangs look extra chic and borderline wolfy in their natural bends, forming a pretty butter-yellow halo around her head.

Layered Lob

Who can forget Ortega's iconic wolf cut from 2022? The Wednesday star took the internet by storm when she debuted this choppy, layered lob, and it still feels just as trendy in 2026. Whether you want to replicate her piecey bangs or achieve her bouncy, tousled bob, there's styling inspiration in every strand of this look.

Shaggy Bob

If you've been itching to go for the popular bixie chop post–award season, we don't blame you, and this is how you can edge things up a bit. "For shorter lengths, I've also been doing softer bixie-meets-shag shapes and airy French bob variations that still give that cool, effortless texture without sacrificing fullness," says Bellemare.

How to Style the Wolf Cut

Both stylists agree that layers are the main character in any wolf cut, so you'll want to use products that help them stand apart. "Layers always want to be seen, so enhancing the natural texture in the hair is always a good thing," says Mohapi. He prefers using a salt spray—his personal pick is the Daughter Salty Texture Spray that's only sold in Benjamin Salon—for subtle grit along with "the tiniest amount" of Rahua's Cream Wax for texture and definition. "I usually just scrunch them into slightly damp (almost dry) hair and let it air-dry while working in the texture," he explains.

While products are almost always necessary, both stylists recommend you use them sparingly. "The beauty of the wolf cut is that it actually looks better when it's not overstyled," says Bellemare. "I usually encourage clients to work with their natural texture instead of fighting it." Her advice? Rough-dry the hair until it's about 75% dry, then use a diffuser or round brush to give extra lift to the crown and throughout the bangs.

"I rely heavily on lightweight texture sprays, mousses, and dry-texture aerosols depending on the hair type," she states. For finer hair, the stylist recommends using texture spray and dry shampoo at the roots for texture, volume, and separation without the crunch. "For wavy or curly textures, a lightweight curl cream or mousse helps define the layers while still keeping movement," she continues. "Definitely nothing too fussy or overworked when it comes to short hair," adds Mohapi.

Bellemare hails the wolf cut as one of the easiest styles to maintain because it's meant to look a bit unfussed. "Clients can air-dry part of it, add a few bends if they want, and be out the door in minutes," she says.

First up, the butterfly bob. "One of the top bob trends for summer 2026, the butterfly bob will be everywhere," says Heasman. "This cut infuses the silhouette of the classic bob cut with the ‘undone’ essence of a butterfly cut." When it comes to styling, Heasman tells me that texture and movement are key. "I’d recommend using a medium-sized round brush and volumising mousse to heighten the appearance of the graduated layers and amp up the volume without looking overdone."

"As the name suggests, it falls somewhere mid-length between the shoulder and collarbone," he tells me. If you sported a chin-skimming crop last summer, you're not alone. It was arguably the year of the bob—from voluminous "Riviera" bobs to sleek "Prada" bobs to '60s-inspired "flipped" bobs—and if you, too, committed to the shorter cut, you're probably currently residing in lob territory. As you encompass the grow-out period, try leaning into soft movement and texture (such as airy layers) as opposed to blunt edges.

Celebrity hairstylist Reece Walker agrees: "Many clients who had strong blunt bobs are now growing them out and really embracing hair that feels less structured and more lived-in," he shares. Consider it the pendulum swing from bold, sophisticated cuts to styles with more of an "undone" feel.

Out: Solid Cool Tones | In: Warmth and Dimension

"Flat, one-note color is fading, especially overly cool, ashy tones that don’t reflect light," says Kim. "Instead, people are leaning into dimension and natural undertones. Think warm blondes, reds that enhance what’s already in your hair, and brunettes with subtle tonal ribbons. It’s very reflective, very alive—color that shifts in the light rather than sitting flat." Walker echoes her declaration, adding that dimension in color is going to be huge. "Less flat, solid color and more depth and movement," he notes.

"Soft, overly blended curtain bangs are out," Kim asserts. Instead? A bold, "bitchy" bang reigns supreme. "It’s shorter, slightly choppier, and more intentional. It sits higher, hits around the cheekbone or brow, and feels a little undone in a way that gives attitude rather than softness," she adds. "It’s less about perfectly feathered face framing and more about creating shape and edge."

While haircuts are becoming increasingly more lived-in, "Color is where it gets exciting," notes Kim. "We’re seeing a move toward dimensional, expressive color, similar to that Alyssa Liu energy where it feels bold and wild." Allow me to clarify: a slick-back will never truly fall out of favor. But stylists can't ignore the onslaught of lived-in, piece-y updos that just feel unrestricted. Shares Kim, "Twenty twenty-five felt very controlled, sleek, polished, and almost uniform—a lot of glass hair, tight finishes, and minimal variation. 2026 is breaking that open. There’s more personality, more texture, and more confidence in letting hair feel lived-in." Again, slick-backs will never be fully "out," but they are becoming less helmet-like. "Even when the look is polished, it’s not rigid. It’s less about perfection and more about identity," Kim adds.

Out: Tucked Bobs | In: Tucked Pixies

Remember when the tucked bob (aka a bob secured behind one or both ears) became all the buzz? We're starting to see a similar style take shape this summer, but it's a tad shorter, kissing the nape of the neck instead of the tops of the shoulders. Celebs like Gracie Abrams, Carey Mulligan, and Olandria Carthen (pictured above) have all embraced the chic short 'do, choosing to tuck their pixie behind just one ear to show off their bone structure. How to Pick the Right Pixie Cut for Each Face Shape

Anyone can pull off a long pixie cut, but getting a style that works for your face shape specifically is the key to making it work. Here's a quick rundown from our experts.

Oval: Both hairstylists agree that any cut can suit this face shape, but if you have curls, Ashley suggests trying a curly fringe with tapered sides.

Round: For straight hair, Santiago notes that round faces need height and volume to elongate their face shape. Ashley says that those with curls can do particularly well with deep side parts.

Square: "Square looks best with soft texture and movement to break up the jawline," says Santiago. For curls, try a rounder cut that can be swept to the side, Ashley suggests.

Diamond: "Heart shapes benefit from a longer fringe and a little weight near the jaw, so it's more bob meets pixie," says Santiago.

Heart: "For a heart-shape face, consider a fuller curly bang and slightly longer pixie," says Ashley. "This will soften the narrow chin."

Rectangle: Both experts agree that rectangle faces need more width than height to visually shorten the face. "Avoid a short pixie. Go for a more mid-length," says Ashley.

How to Style a Long Pixie Cut

Re-creating the look you get at the salon can feel like an uphill battle, but this cut is so low-maintenance it's actually easier than you think. It all comes down to—you guessed it—the products. "Texturizers like The Dry Texture Spray from Chris McMillan give grit so the hair doesn't fall flat," says Santiago. "I love adding a bit of pomade, like Shaping Fiber from Philip B."

If you have curly hair, your options might look a bit different since you have to consider things like curl pattern and shrinkage. For fine curls, Ashley recommends a lightweight mousse or foam to avoid collapse, like the Girls With Curls Curl Boosting Mousse. Thicker curls will need a cream and a light gel, and for frizz control, apply a leave-in to soaking-wet hair before drying.

Up next, we're getting to know actress, singer, podcast host, and WWW July 2025 cover star Keke Palmer, who also serves as the chief brand officer for Creme of Nature. Below, she's answering all of our rapid-fire questions, including her skin and makeup secrets, how she styles her current pixie cut, and more. Enjoy!

You're shaping the entire brand direction for Creme of Nature, and the Scalp Relief Wipes were your first product launch in the role. Take me through that process—did you go through multiple iterations? How did you land on the final formula?

It was pretty quick. My main thing was creating something that the girls could throw into their bag, especially when they are out doing fitness, have protective styles, in between meetings, or have edge buildup—different things like that. We don't often have the same accessibility that we have with makeup that we do with hair. That's where the idea came from. Once I had pitched the idea and we had spoken about it, they started iterating what it could look like [in terms of] packaging, and then I got the first trial of the product.

Creme of Nature is not a new company, and I feel like there's nowhere else that I could try so many innovative things with and immediately get great results. It's because of the history of the company. The main thing [I wanted] was that this wouldn't strip the hair. That was something that, going in, we had spoken about. I was like, "Okay, how do we clean up the buildup? How do we bring more longevity to the hair, whatever hairstyle it's in, with a focus on protective styles? How do we prolong this without stripping the hair of its oils?" That's how we got to where we are now.

Why was it important for you to work behind the scenes with Creme of Nature in this capacity? Is this something you've always wanted to do with a brand?

A lot of people think about Keke Palmer as a person, but for me, Keke Palmer is a company. This is a company I've been building with my family since I was a kid. Acting and influencing, telling stories of what I believe in, and creating something for the culture through my artwork has always been something that I've been architecting. For Creme of Nature to actually see that in me, to acknowledge what I've been able to do with my own brand and want me to lend that expertise to them, that's the direction that I want to move in. I love entertaining and being a talent, but I've always had so many other thoughts outside of that. Working with them was right in line with how I've continued to evolve as a businessperson.

I'd love to hear more about your own scalpcare journey. What's your current routine now, and how has that changed over the years?

It changes based on styles. I'll be honest with you. Obviously, over the last few years, [I've used] anything within the arsenal—both new and old—of Creme of Nature. It was probably a little more intensive when I actually had more hair. I was definitely doing more treatments, masks, sleeping with [conditioner] in, a bunch of different things. Now, it's a little bit more A-B-C, 1-2-3. I'm just using the shampoo, doing my conditioner, rinsing it out, and then I'll use the Foaming Mousse. The Foaming Mousse is the most critical product for me with my pixie because it's what molds the hair. I'm definitely heavy on the mousse. Then I'll put my hair under the dryer for about 40 minutes to an hour, then put a little bit of Shine Mist, run my fingers through it, maybe with a little bit of Edge Control on the edges and the tips to give my hair a little bit of texture and personality. Then I'm out the door.

It's pretty simple. I would maybe [have] more layers of conditioning the hair when it was longer. It's not that I don't do that now when it's shorter. It just takes much less time because I don't have as much hair.

Zooming out to some general beauty questions, if you had to leave the house in five minutes, what are a few beauty products you'd either apply or bring with you?

For fragrance, my mainstay is this Creed perfume. That's definitely going in the bag. I'm definitely bringing my La Roche-Posay SPF. There's a new one that's tinted. That's my number one favorite girl right now. I'm also bringing my shine mist, edge control, and the scalp wipes. Again, when I first came up with this idea of scalp wipes, I was mostly thinking about protective styles. They [bring] so much flexibility when you're in a protective style, especially when you have 4c hair and you're trying to work out and all that jazz. But one thing I realized was that it actually works with any [hair type]. With my short hair, I'm always doing stuff with the back, but then I don't want to wash and remold. A lot of times, I can just take some of that product off with the scalp wipes and then continue to go about my business. They're still a mainstay, surprisingly, even though I don't have as much hair as I used to have. You would think you wouldn't need it, but they are great for anything, and they slip right into the bag.

I always keep a little deodorant because, yeah, your girl perspires. This is natural. And then a little lip gloss. I love Laneige. I can't say that I have a [number one] favorite, but I definitely do like Laneige lip gloss.

Amazing. Which Creed perfume do you love?

It's Carmina.

You've also mentioned in the past that you've struggled with hyperpigmentation and acne, but honestly, every time I see a photo or a video of you, I'm always like, "Oh my god, her skin looks perfect." So I need to know: What are your secrets, be it skincare or makeup?

Oh my gosh, thank you. Well, a big thing I'll say to anybody that has ever dealt with skin troubles to the intensity that I have [is that] a dermatologist is number one. Sometimes, you might need a topical medication. You might need an oral medication, so I would say don't be afraid to take that step and help yourself. We're all made differently. Sometimes, we need more support, internally or externally. I love holistic [remedies], but sometimes, you need more support, and I think that's okay.

Secondly, I keep it quite simple. I like La Roche-Posay's Mela B3 Cleanser because it helps with the hyperpigmentation I've had to deal with. It helps attack that for me. That's really helpful. They also have a really great retinol serum that I like and use. I've always loved their SPFs because they don't burn my eyes. Their basic one is great, but then they also have a new one that's tinted that I really, really love. I like to do my makeup very lightly, so I'll put this SPF on, then I'll put on any type of cream blush, do my brows, do my mascara, maybe line the lips—maybe not—then lip gloss, and I'm out the door. The tint doesn't give you makeup coverage, but it gives you enough coverage to where you feel blemish-free but also natural. I haven't gotten a facial in a really long time, which is crazy, but I'm big on a facial or two. I think that's important.

Yeah, with skin texture, people sometimes think that you should put more base makeup on, but actually, less is more in that regard.

Yes, it is because [makeup] clogs everything.

Totally. Well, I want to go back to what you said about switching up your hair looks. Are you hoping to dabble in any spring or summer beauty trends? Any fun hair and makeup looks you want to try?

What do I want to try? I mean, I already have super-thin brows. I don't know if that's a trend or if it's just a timeless thing we get in and out of. I feel like it's been big in every era. So I definitely have my thin brows going on. My hair is colored, and that's going to remain. I've got to be honest. I'm not always overly engaged with all the trends. I'm involved in culture. I see what's happening, and I know how to play in and out, but I don't always know what the exact trends are. But I'm open! I just like to have fun expressing myself. When I feel the need to change, then I do it. Other times when I'm like, 'Let me just sit in this vibe,' then I'll stay. I definitely march to the beat of my own drum.

Yeah, you're not someone who subscribes to the seasonality of it all.

Yes, and not even to be resistant. It's just because I don't always know where to even look for that kind of thing, but if I see something that I like, I'll definitely join in and play along.

Totally. Is there anything you've seen that you liked recently?

I love the [faux] freckles. That's really fun. It's a very cute little detail that adds texture to the skin. Especially if you are somebody that has struggled with skin stuff, I think those are really fun ways to lean into uniqueness. Aside from that, I love pimple patches. Those are really cute. I'm into that.

Is there a certain freckle pen or pimple patch that you love right now?

The pimple patches are Starface. I like the star patches that come in the green box. For the freckles, there's actually a pen called Freckled. I got it off of Instagram somewhere, and that's what I use.

You're the second person who's told me recently they bought a freckle pen off of Instagram!

Girl, they be selling it. They're about to pull it up for me now, now that they've heard me say it to you on the phone. You know how it is with this algorithm and everything—they're listening.

They really are. Well, I know we're at time, so I'll go ahead with my last question. What is your Unfiltered beauty philosophy in seven words or less?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In seven words or less, that's all I got.

After the vows are declared, the cake is sliced, and all the painstaking planning has (finally!) paid off, the recent bride deserves some good ol' fashioned self-care—a factory reset, if you will. Some couples choose to head straight into the honeymoon, others decide to get a jump start on thank-you notes or flip through early photos, but most find some way to take a beat and revel in the post-wedding bliss. Gabi, an e-commerce coordinator getting married on April 26, is heading straight to the salon chair.

"I have already scheduled an appointment to cut my hair into a bob on April 29, three days after the wedding," she tells me. Talk about hitting the reset button, but Gabi's certainly not alone. While not every bride proactively plans their post-wedding chop, a significant number (including yours truly!) do decide to get a dramatic haircut soon after saying "I do"—some even immediately following the ceremony for a bold reception moment—be it a bob, lob, pixie, or something in between (ever heard of a bixie?).

The question is… why?

Why Is It Common to Cut Your Hair After Your Wedding?

We'll start with the more practical reason: A bunch of brides (self included) intentionally grow out their hair for the wedding day. "There’s an expectation that bridal hair feels soft, effortless, and romantic, and longer lengths help achieve that," explains hairstylist Paul Perez, co-owner of Flore Los Angeles. That's not to say shorter crops don't exude romance. A sculpted bob or pixie is just as timeless, and ultimately, the best bridal hairstyle is the one that makes you feel most beautiful on your special day.

However, for brides-to-be who aren't totally sure which style to pick, longer locks do generally provide more flexibility to play with different trends—twists, updos, et al. "In fact, almost 99% of the time, you add even more hair in the form of extensions," notes celebrity hairstylist Temur Hamilton (who cut my own lob about a month ago!).

Of course, keeping longer strands healthy is often a time-consuming process, so once the "I dos" are done, it makes sense that those brides would have had enough of that maintenance. My own lengths were particularly dry and brittle post-wedding (highlights, extensions, and a last-minute chemical treatment will do that to you), so chopping off the damage felt like the right move.

But according to neuropsychologist Sanam Hafeez, PsyD, there's more to the bride-to-bob pipeline than meets the eye. "In my practice, clients mention it almost in passing, the way you bring something up when you don't realize it's significant. 'I just felt like cutting it after the wedding,'" she says. "When we slow down and look at it, there's almost always something underneath. A quiet exhale. A reclaiming of self after months of being, in some ways, a walking event."

See, unless you're a celebrity who frequents the press-tour circuit, there are likely very few times in your life when you spend hours in the glam chair for a highly photographed occasion. Hell, even celebrities we do consider red carpet regulars have followed the bride-to-bob pipeline. Consider model Taylor Hill, who married private equity investor Daniel Fryer in June 2023. By that September, she was sporting a textured pixie. And while we aren't 100% sure whether Zendaya and Tom Holland *actually* tied the knot, I can't ignore the fact that she debuted a noticeably shorter bixie during Paris Fashion Week, just days after stylist Law Roach declared them married at the 2026 Actor Awards. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I'm adding the chop to my list of reasons it's plausible. (She also showed up to the Louis Vuitton fall/winter 2026 show wearing a gold wedding band on her left ring finger. I digress!)

For brides, the stakes are high, the pressure is on, and even with an abundance of love in the room, the production itself can understandably trigger some overwhelm. "One of my very best friends chopped her [hair] off six weeks after her wedding," Hafeez adds. "When I asked her why, she just laughed and replied, 'I felt like myself again.' She lacked the words to explain why, but I understood what she meant."

Hair is also intimately tied to identity, and when yours evolves, it's common to crave a cut to mark that internal shift. It's similar logic to the "breakup bangs" stereotype, which involves a drastic hair change to shed the past and emerge anew, but a dramatic cut doesn't necessarily have to signal trauma. As Hafeez explains, "it just requires transition." While breakup bangs symbolize detachment—literally shearing off a piece of your past—"bridal bobbing is more subtle, less 'escaping,' more 'arriving,'" she adds. "But the principle's the same: I am newly me, and I need my outer self to match my new inner self."

That identity shift happens rather subliminally (it's not like you wake up the day after your wedding and feel like a brand-new person), and it's not necessarily a bad thing—quite the opposite, in fact! "Happiness and transformation are not mutually exclusive," Hafeez adds. "Sometimes you can experience the happiest of life changes and still find yourself on a threshold, itching to commemorate that crossing. The salon chair, it turns out, is a remarkably common place to do that."

How to Choose a Post-Wedding Chop

Okay, so you're craving a dramatic cut. It's clear you're not alone, but stylists do have some tips to ensure you wind up with the most flattering crop. "The bob haircut is my favorite. It’s sexy, chic, mature, and it offers a lot of versatility," shares Hamilton. He recommends opting for a French bob or '90s bob with a swishy, voluminous silhouette. "I love a clean blunt bob for something chic and strong," Perez adds, "or a softer, layered cut with movement for a more effortless feel."

Some bobs—like the aforementioned French variety—were practically made to pair with bangs, so feel free to add some fringe too if you'd like. According to Perez, bangs or face-framing pieces "can also help personalize the look." (Just be prepared to put in a little more maintenance—bang styling is not for the faint of heart!) I'd recommend starting there, and if you wind up craving something even shorter down the line, keep cutting for a micro-bob or bixie moment or go full throttle with a pixie.

If you're a bit hesitant to commit to the bob life, a lob or clavicut (aka, a haircut that skims your clavicle) is a fabulous starting point. "I like to call it 'the tease' because it flirts with length, giving you the drama of long hair with the edge and ease of a shorter cut," celebrity hairstylist Davontaé Washington previously told WWW about collarbone-length crops. I personally opted for a lob post-wedding and can confirm it delivers the "fresh start" energy I was craving yet has a very forgiving grow-out phase—a happy-medium haircut of the highest order. Of course, inspiration photos are nonnegotiable. (I showed up to Hamilton's salon with a full Pinterest board.) Just make sure your reference images are similar to your own hair texture.

Zoë, a first-grade teacher, also joined team lob about a month after her honeymoon, yearning for a drastic change from the waist-length locks she grew out for her 2024 wedding. It was a welcome fresh start, but rather than subscribing to a "shed it and forget it" philosophy, she decided to give her wedding style a new life. "When I realized how much hair I would be cutting, I came up with the idea of donating it and knew that was the move I wanted to make," she tells me. No matter which post-wedding haircut you choose, if you have at least 12 inches of shorn hair (the standard donation, though some organizations, like Locks of Love, do accept 10), donating it can not only mark a new chapter in your life but also drastically change someone else's.

"I've known a few people in my life who have dealt with hair loss for a multitude of reasons, and I've heard some of them talk about how challenging that is/was and feeling like they lost a part of their identity… to be able to help someone feel more like themselves through my small contribution makes me so grateful," Zoë adds. "I don't ultimately know who ended up with my wedding hair, but I hope they feel even more beautiful and loved than I did on my wedding day."

As the weather starts to thaw, you can catch me diving into current hair trends. Cue the line about seasonal changes and new beginnings, fresh starts, yadda yadda. It's certainly not uncommon to want to switch up your look at the onset of spring, but this year, the craving feels especially strong after such a brutally cold and snowy winter here on the East Coast. It's officially time to put that dreariness in the rearview, and what better way to do so than with an updated cut or color?

"Traditionally, spring trends lean very light and playful, but this year feels a bit more refined," shares celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos. "There’s still that sense of freshness, but it’s paired with a more elevated, timeless approach. Instead of drastic seasonal changes, people are opting for subtle updates that enhance their existing style, more of a refinement than a reset." Think dimensional colors, lived-in styles, and shorter cuts with a super seamless grow-out. Find them all ahead, along with expert-backed product recs.

Spring 2026 Hair Colors

Sunlit Copper

A warm, earthy copper is certainly on-trend, but master colorist Rachael Thomas, director of education at Madison Reed, suggests amping up the golden tones even further this spring. Enter sunlit copper, a "warm, glowing red that flatters every complexion," she says, while creating natural-looking dimension. "Sunlit copper emerges as a wearable, everyday expression of red," Thomas adds. "It feels fresh but not extreme or artificial, which is exactly what people are looking for right now."

Golden-Hour Brunette

Similarly, we have golden hour brunette, a torched take on chocolate. Thomas calls it a "classic brunette with a sophisticated modern twist," thanks to those radiant gold tones. Ranging from light caramel (like Giannetos's snap of Tate McRae here) to deep espresso, its key factor is that rich, golden warmth. "A lot of people are looking for a rich luminous brunette that isn’t matte or overly cool. Golden hour brunette delivers that elevated, sun-kissed warmth that compliments your natural base in a luxurious way," Thomas adds. It also results in a more "lived-in" look with a forgiving grow-out phase, which will ultimately require less trips to the salon. Win, win!

Butter Blonde

Call it the Love Story effect, but a rich, buttery, Carolyn Bessette–coded blonde (seen on Sarah Pidgeon here, of course) will be all over mood boards this spring. Be warned, though: There's a fine line between this golden-champagne shade and one that reads a little too platinum or brassy. To keep it squarely in the center, prepare for purple shampoos and gold-pigment glosses to become your new best friends.

Spring 2026 Haircuts

Square Bob

This spring, the pros predict a slew of bobs (get ready to call your stylist!), but not all crops are created equal. For those craving a bolder statement, allow me to introduce you to the square bob, which is a blunt cut with even weight on either side of the ears and across the back of the neck, making it look, well, square. It's wonderfully chic, especially for those with thicker locks, just know that your ends will be on full display with this clean, geometric shape, so definitely load up on moisturizing, cuticle-sealing oils to keep them looking nice and healthy.

Softly Sculpted Bob

For those who can't give up a little layering, stylists also softly sculpted bobs to reign supreme this spring. Sculpted ends give the cut shape, yet "[it] has movement and texture so it feels modern and wearable," celebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath shares. Imagine a bixie or a French bob, both of which have softly sculpted lines. "Those are going to dominate," shares celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen, who coiffed Zendaya's bixie above for the Oscars.

Bixies

Speaking of bixies, they deserve their own moment! From Teyana Taylor to Jessie Buckley to Gracie Abrams to Zendaya, celebs cannot stop flaunting these bob-pixie hybrids on the red carpet, and stylists only expect them to soar throughout the warmer months. "It's a great style to have if you want to confidently grow out your pixie and not feel insecure about having that awkward grow-out stage," celebrity hairstylist Nikki Nelms previously told Who What Wear of the award-season trend. "Since it's already a cool style, the grow-out will appear to be intentional." If you've ever had the urge to go super, super short, this spring is the perfect time.

Invisible Layers

Heath, Giannetos, and Stephen all agree: Layers are hot this spring. Specifically, "invisible layers" are one to watch. Says Giannetos, "They are incredibly subtle but make a big difference in how the hair falls and moves. [The cut] gives my clients that effortless, polished look without blunt lines or chunkiness." Consider the "cloud cut" he gave Cindy Crawford, pictured above, which appears perfectly undone with the addition of soft, airy layers.

"I think [layers] became a bit underrated with the popularity of the bob, as everyone wants those one-length, sharp, clean, slim [cuts]," Stephen adds. "But I believe those clients are craving some volume and movement—that’s where the layers come in!" It's also worth noting that invisible layers grow out seamlessly, which, according to Giannetos, speaks to a larger trend of lived-in, low-maintenance cuts this spring.

Piecey Bangs

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: Bangs of all kinds are dominating the 2026 hair space. Heath agrees. "Fringe is definitely having a moment again," she shares, noting that face-framing wisps will be extra popular this spring—largely because they blend so well into layers. "Softer, piece-y fringe will start gaining traction as people look for ways to update their look without committing to a dramatic change," Giannetos adds, recommending clip-in bangs for those who want to test the waters worry-free.

Spring 2026 Hairstyles

Wet Looks

According to Giannetos, wet-look styles (like the bob he created for Demi Moore during Milan Fashion Week) will be all the rage this season. Although, this spring's version will look slightly more low-key than the drenched styles we've seen in the past—more of a "cream-gloss" finish versus a "serum-gloss" effect, shares hairstylist Gregory Patterson, DIY color and styling expert for Sally Beauty. Imagine your strands were shimmering with springtime dew, not completely dripping with moisture.

Tousled Parts

Are you a middle-part devotee or fancy some deep side-part glamour? According to stylists, it doesn't really matter this spring. "People are also starting to move away from their go-to part, experimenting with soft side parts or more tousled, natural placements," shares Heath. Consider this a sign to switch things up or simply let the strands fall where they may.

Fluffy Curls

Finally, "I think we’re going to trade our flat irons in for curling irons this spring," Stephen declares. "Curls and texture will be on the menu. Fluffy—no more pin straight hair." Like the majority of beauty trends this spring, we can likely thank Wuthering Heights for the uptick in playful, bouncy spirals, as the film's romantic hair trends continue to rise. Clearly, beauty lovers want to evoke frolicking through a sprawling spring meadow, their strands gently rumpled by the wind. We can just pretend that Heathcliff is patiently waiting on the other side.

In fact, its secret lies in the fact that this bob actually isn’t a one-length cut despite looking very much like one. “It actually has cleverly concealed layering which slims the silhouette and gives a relaxed and undone texture,” explains Tom Smith, hair stylist, trend forecaster, and founder of Aevum Salon. Despite its laidback look then, the lazy bob can actually be personalised precisely to your hair texture and thickness, unlike a more classic cut.

“It’s ideal for medium hair density that has a wave or loose curl naturally, but on thicker hair, concealed layers can provide a real opportunity to contour and shape the silhouette, whilst on fine hair, the bluntness of the ends can help add the appearance of thickness,” explains Smith.

"There's more emphasis on texture, softer silhouettes, and styles that look intentional without feeling overworked," says Brook.

How do I style short hair?

"With short hair, products matter because there's nowhere to hide," Brook tells me. “I predict the most popular bob in 2026 will be the flip-flop bob,” says Giannetos. This style, which the artist coined after creating this swooping, vintage-inspired ’do on Gigi Hadid, is marked by straight locks with softly flipped ends that curl toward the sky. (Not to be confused with the 2025 bubble bob, with ends curling toward the neck.)

“It’s short without feeling limiting, offering enough length for versatile styling,” the celebrity hairstylist adds. “It’s a great introduction to shorter hair for anyone not quite ready to part with their hot tools.” While Hadid’s version is a more glamorous take on this style, we’re loving Lori Harvey’s relaxed iteration for everyday wear.

You heard it here first: Classic, romantic glam is wholly in this year. Between Pinterest predicting the darkly elegant “opera aesthetic” as a main theme of 2026 and the Critics' Choice Awards playing host to a bevy of romantic red carpet hairstyles, Giannetos’ “Valentine bob” on Gigi Hadid is one we’ll often be referencing this year.

The hairstylist calls this look “one of [his] favorites” from 2025, and expects a whole lot more vintage glamour in 2026. "[Think] shoulder grazing length with curtain bangs, and movement through the ends rather than a blunt outline," says Warren. "[This trend] is more lived-in and aligns perfectly with that fresh 2026 feel."

A bob hair trend that I predict will be everywhere in 2026 is the tuft bob. I've been spotting this style all over social media, and the celebs are loving it too (Jessie Buckley's tuft bob is a personal favourite of mine).

I always describe it as a mix between a blunt bob, a pixie and a mullet bob, with a short, choppy finish and small tufts of hair flicked outwards. In my opinion, it looks effortlessly chic.

How cool is the slicked-back bob? "[This is] quite a strong look and shows off more of the outline," says Warren. She tells me that it's very versatile when it comes to styling, as you can lean into a wet-look effect, or add more movement and height for a slightly more laid-back feel. I must admit, I’ve always been a fan of air drying. Whether you’d call it laziness or smarts on my part will depend on where you fall on this debate; however, the idea of spending hours battling with the hairdryer when I could simply allow nature to take its course and let my hair dry naturally has always been a no-brainer for me.

This proclivity for air drying became even stronger earlier this year, when I cut my formerly chest-length hair into a bob and discovered my wavy strands were actually much more textured than I had previously believed. "[With] hair, I don't get attached. Cut it, grow it long… The only thing I probably wouldn't do is have very long hair because for me, it just starts looking stringy," she continues. "It's just hair! It'll grow back. It's fun to change it up." This free-spirited approach is quite refreshing—and makes perfect sense from someone who constantly undergoes color and cut transformations for work—but when it comes to skincare, her philosophy is far more disciplined.

"I always keep my beauty routine simple. I'm religious about it," she notes. "If you get a bad [hair] color, for the most part, it will [grow back]. Your eyebrows? Maybe not so forgiving if you do a bad pluck job on them or something like that. But we have one skin [barrier], and we need to take care of it. I get very religious about that. My skin's sensitive, and so when something works for it, I stick behind it. My hair likes change, but my skin likes what it likes."

Her skin definitely likes hyaluronic acid and peptides, both of which can be found in Elizabeth Arden's new Hydra-Plumping Serum Capsules and Water Cream. "That combo is extraordinary because it does two things: It firms, and it hydrates. That's the golden ticket for me," Bibb shares. Derms love the combination too, for what it's worth; board-certified cosmetic dermatologist Dendy Engelman, MD, FACMS, FAAD, previously told WWW that the two ingredients work in tandem to "strengthen the skin and provide essential moisture, resulting in a healthier barrier and a refreshed, younger appearance."

Bibb also swears by facial ice baths, which help reduce inflammation, redness, and puffiness. "I travel with a mixing bowl," she jokes. "[I'll do it before] getting my hair and makeup done, but I'll also do it on a Tuesday morning to just start the day. I'll do three dips in an ice bath, put on my lotions and potions, and go about my day." Said potions include SPF ("Always SPF," Bibb emphasizes), the aforementioned Elizabeth Arden goodies, and a creamy lipstick she can also dab on her enviously high cheekbones. "We were in Venice, and [makeup artist] Rachel Goodwin was using my lipstick as a cheek tint. That was really fun," she recounts. (FYI: At the premiere of Frankenstein, she wore Armani Beauty's Lip Power Lipstick in shade 504.)

Simple, versatile products are the heroes of her beauty routine, but that said, she does embrace a luxurious treatment every once in a while. "I get a facial every four to six weeks," she shares, calling the standing appointment a cornerstone of self-care. "[You can] do it at home," she adds. "Put on your cleanser, let it sit for a couple minutes and really Pac-Man all the bacteria off your face. Then do a proper spritz, get a face mask, and end your night with something juicy." For that last bit, I do recommend giving Bibb's go-to serum capsules and water cream a try; after the actress herself applied both products on my skin, I noticed an immediate calming effect and reduction in redness.

She may have inspired thousands of bob transformations since debuting the CLB ("Women have come up to me and been like, 'I cut my hair!'" she shares), but Bibb's impossibly glowing skin is what leaves fans (self included) truly slack-jawed when they see her up close. As for her imminent hair evolution, that remains a mystery—even to Bibb. "It's got to be a new era, right?"

So, what is this new bob hair trend? "The cultivated bob is a refined, polished take on the classic bob haircut," says Neale Rodger, style director at STIL Salon. "It’s tailored, sleek, and structured—think sharp lines, a smooth, polished finish and a sense of ‘quiet luxury’ that's trending on social media right now." As explained by Rodgers, "This trend moves away from the theatrics of the deliberately undone, shaggy bobs, and instead embraces a more considered, elegant silhouette."

The great news is that this trend can work for all hair types. While a cultivated bob will help to add weight and volume to fine hair, cutting in precise layers can also help to remove any bulkiness and create a clean silhouette on thicker hair types. For curly hair, Rodgers advises cutting your bob with your curl pattern in mind. He also recommends leaving the bob slightly longer than you think, to allow the hair to spring up when dry. "The key is customisation, and your stylist should adapt the bob’s length, angle and finish to your hair type and face shape," he tells me.

I am writing this article holed up at my desk, hiding from the rain that has suddenly appeared. If this weather is anything to go by, it seems that autumn is well and truly on its way. As the new season approaches, I am starting to feel that familiar itch for a new autumn hairstyle, and judging by this year's hair trends, it seems that a shorter hair trend is the way to go right now.

"Shorter hair for autumn is really what it’s about when it comes to a refresh or new vibe for the season [ahead]," confirms Dom Seeley, top hair stylist and international creative director for Color Wow. That being said, with so many trending short hairstyles out there, what cuts can we actually expect to see in the upcoming months?

First up, the asymmetrical bob is making a comeback. "Asymmetry is something that's gaining traction, and I feel we will see it more this autumn, especially around fashion week," says Seeley. "I love asymmetry in a bob style, leaving one side longer [gives an] edgier feel to it and can be worn in so many textures."

In terms of styling, Seeley recommends getting your hands on a good shine spray to smooth any flyaways and add salon-worthy gloss to your ends.

Next up is the classic pixie cut. "The pixie is making a revival," Seeley tells me. "We have seen so many variations [over] the last few years, but a classic short crop is really picking up. It’s cool, effortless and chic and can be worn sleek and smooth or roughed up with texture."

The Italian bob has been in style for a while now, but it shows no signs of slowing down this autumn. "[This trend is] super versatile and can be worn in so many ways from sleek, voluminous, textured and glam," Seeley tells me.

The key to an Italian bob is all in the styling. This look involves lots of movement and bounce, and is often a little longer compared to trends such as the French bob or micro bob, to allow for a more playful finish.

For something a little different, let me introduce you to the "trinity" cut. As explained by Seeley, this style is inspired by Carrie-Anne Moss' character, Trinity, in the popular Matrix franchise, and features a '90s crop in the back, with a deep side part through the top and sides. "It's a hybrid of a bob, a pixie and a shag haircut and can be worn in so many ways."

In terms of styling, Seeley recommends a glossy serum for that '90s shine. There's no denying that a sleek, slicked-back finish will give serious Matrix vibes.

"Fringes are becoming super popular again, and we do normally see bangs having a revival around autumn," adds Seeley. "However, this time it's not a specific shape, but fringes in general."
