When someone asks me what to buy for a particular season or occasion, I'm not one to generalize things. I will tell them exactly what to buy in which color and give options for where to buy it. August happens to be one of my favorite times of year to shop, as the new fall items start to roll out and the season's trends and It items take shape. It's also when you'll find the most robust stock at retailers of said new fall items. I don't know about you, but when there's something I want to purchase, and I see that it's starting to sell out, mild panic sets in. So, let's not put ourselves through that, shall we? We can instead start shopping some items with the most sell-out potential.

Since I often gravitate toward minimalist wardrobe staples, I've spent quite a bit of time going down rabbit holes to find places that make "less basic" basics. The Row is considered by many to be the gold standard, but the prices aren't widely accessible. Given that, there are so many TikToks and articles doing the work of finding options with a similar aesthetic at price points under $500. That's how I discovered Almina Concept.

The label is based in Los Angeles and produced in Seoul, South Korea, making seasonless pieces that are high-quality and unique but timeless. The first piece that caught my eye was one of the simplest items you can have in your closet: a tank top. I love the High V-Neck Tank's silhouette; taking something ordinary and elevating it. I'm fully aware that summer is far from over, but pre-fall fashion finds have been trickling in on my favorite sites, catching my eye and getting me eager about dressing for the season ahead. While I browsed the new arrivals, one thing stood out above all else: color. Designers aren't leaving bold hues behind with summer. One shade in particular that is poised to define fall and maybe even dethrone burgundy is purple.

If you pay close attention to the runway trends, this probably doesn't come as a surprise. Loud, rich shades of purple like violet and royal purple popped up all over the spring/summer 2026 runways and then seamlessly continued into the fall/winter 2026 collections. The color was everywhere, from trench coats at Celine and sheer skirts and blouses at Ferragamo to textured minidresses at Loewe and asymmetrical maxi dresses at Tory Burch.

While many fashion insiders, including myself, bought into the color trend early—last spring—it seems like everyone else is just starting to notice it and get excited to embrace it this fall. Dior is one of the classic European fashion houses with a long list of truly iconic handbags. There's the Lady Dior, which debuted in 1995 and became one of the world's most recognizable designer bags; the Saddle, launched in 1999, which defined the early 2000s; and the Book Tote, introduced in 2018, which is arguably the brand's biggest new bag launch since the Saddle. While all three remain core parts of Dior's handbag lineup, a new design is quietly shaping up to join their ranks: the Dior Toujours—or should I say the reinvented Toujours.

The Dior Toujours is a tote bag designed by former Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri and introduced as part of the house's spring/summer 2023 collection. Today, it is beloved for its understated design, supple leather, and practical shape. Now, Jonathan Anderson is at the helm, carving a new path for the brand, and he has reimagined the Toujours for his fall/winter 2026 collection, giving it a fresh slouchy silhouette complete with a removable shoulder strap.

With September just around the corner and the new collections gradually arriving in stores and online, the reinvented Toujours is now available to buy, and the fashion set has been quick to snap it up. We've already spotted it on celebrities like Monica Barbaro, who carried the small white style in NYC and paired it with a blue gingham skirt set. The updated design has also caught the attention of those overseas. During Copenhagen Fashion Week for the spring/summer 2027 season, one attendee styled it with a crisp white jacket, purple pleated pants, and embellished sandals.

I'm going to say this softly, slowly, so as not to offend: summer will soon come to an end. A tragedy for many, myself included. As a shopping editor, I've been on the hunt for the freshest fashion finds of the week. With fall right around the corner, it's the perfect time for a little wardrobe update. It's been a while since I browsed Zara's latest arrivals, so I was shocked to find so many beautiful pieces that range from staples to on-trend items with a fun twist. Don't worry. I'm not looking to withhold my findings, so I've detailed my favorite picks from the newest Zara drop below.

Laura Harrier wasn't in the room when I interviewed Wardrobe.NYC cofounders Christine Centenera and Josh Goot at a Paris hotel last month, but when I sat down with her a few hours later, she unknowingly picked up the conversation exactly where they left off. It wasn't entirely surprising. Harrier told me she's very good friends with Centenera, whose new H&M collaboration launches today. When I asked which item from the 29-piece collection they'd wear on their next flight, Centenera, Goot, and Harrier all had the same answer: the Nylon Track Pants ($109). Now that's what I call fashion ESP. (These are the pants that Teyana Taylor wore to the launch party in Paris, by the way.)

When it comes to styling the pants, Goot has an idea: "I like to wear a blazer when traveling," the designer told Who What Wear. "I find it really convenient because it has great pockets. It's handy for the passport and whatever else you need." If you're on the same page, the Wardrobe.NYC H&M collection has two excellent options to choose from: the Double-Breasted Wool Blazer ($269) in gray and the Wool-Blend Hourglass Blazer ($269) in black.

"Part of Wardrobe.NYC's initial conception was [considering] what pieces I would pack if I had to go somewhere for a week and could only take a carry-on," Centenera told me. "So that's how we came to our neutral color palette—predominantly black and white with gray in the mix. It's about having pieces that will work the hardest for you in the greatest variety of ways."

This capsule-wardrobe concept is exactly what first attracted Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M's head of womenswear design and creative advisor. "Wardrobe.NYC is so curated, well-balanced, and sharp," she told Who What Wear. "It feels like a new take on quality essentials, something we haven't seen before."

Expounding on the travel theme, Centenera said that "this collection specifically lends itself to the journey and the different layering elements that you might need on the plane or the train. And then when you get to that destination, you have pieces that can carry you from day to night to different occasions—something active, something dressed up. I think we've got you covered in all of the different aspects of a trip."

In addition to Harrier, Audrey Nuna of KPop Demon Hunters fame is a celebrity fan of the collab. "I love that these H&M collabs are accessible but also have very intentional tailoring," she told me at the launch party in Paris. "I'm a huge fan of that duality. Growing up, H&M was such an accessible way to explore fashion. It's truly for everyone, and I love that these collabs bring in a different perspective. I like genre-bending, and the fact that H&M constantly tries to do that is really cool."

This might come as a surprise to you, because when it comes to my clothing I’m very much a minimalist, but anyone who knows me will tell you that when it comes to my footwear, I adore a "weird" shoe. To me, they’re an easy way to take my simple outfits from basic to elevated. There's a back-to-school mood in the air as we move ever closer to September. A reset is ahead, with many consolidating their wardrobes ahead of the new season, and just in time, H&M has launched its latest collaboration. Now, a refined edit has launched, one that draws upon core wardrobe staples with contemporary edges. H&M’s collaborations are renowned in fashion circles. Countdowns are set for each new launch as the high street powerhouse pairs up with a distinctive designer, this time, luxury essentials label Wardrobe.NYC. Founded in 2017 by editor and stylist Christine Centenera and designer Josh Goot, the designs are focused on elevated wardrobe essentials, curated with premium fabrics and contemporary accents that set them apart whilst building the foundations of a well-edited wardrobe.

"We don’t really follow the trends; we design into archetypes of modern dress, and we refine our own standards over time. We think about what’s essential for a season or a lifestyle, and we build that into the wardrobe," shares Goot. The edit is a perfect reflection of this, focusing on foundations of denim, tailoring and jersey to curate a series of cohesive pieces that feel exceedingly versatile and contemporary in equal measure.

Centenera adds that the collection is designed for "a busy woman with a demanding day who is discerning and wants to feel confident and assured by her wardrobe." When we tried on the collection, this is exactly how we felt. Fellow editor Imani and I had the chance to try on the pieces, get a feel for the materials and play around with styling and restyling the collection as we went.

Whilst we were both impressed by the silhouettes, bold structures and more classic pieces, we found a series of standouts. For me, the denim jacket with an hourglass silhouette immediately caught my eye, soon followed by the double-breasted coat featuring sharp shoulders, an oversized silhouette and a sculptural form.

For Imani, the layering possibilities with shoulder-pad body suits and soft-cotton long-sleeve tops felt enduring and versatile. As Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor and head of design for womenswear at H&M, says, "This is an ideal wardrobe—it's timeless but sensual, and it still has a lot of character. The sculpturality, the way every shape is so well considered, and then everything goes back with everything else. I think it's very modern." Together with the contrast of smart tailoring and soft jersey, the balanced collection offers endless styling possibilities, with foundation pieces that will hold their own in our wardrobes for many years to come.

In today's episode of "they brought back what?" we're talking toes, or specifically, the once "dated" trend that's suddenly taking over the jewellery boxes of Gen Z and millennial fashion people alike. My fashion-editor faux pas is that I don't own high heels. Living in New York, where I walk a lot, I'm against willingly signing up for foot pain. Even when I go to weddings and fancier events, I love kitten heels.

As a loafers lover, I’m sure that headline seemed like a dig at the beloved fall shoe trend, but, conversely, I’m just spotlighting a shoe trend that fashion people are much more interested in. Working in fashion, everyone has their thing, whether it's an extensive collection of vintage jeans or a penchant for shoes. At Who What Wear, for many of us, it's designer bags. For me, it started when Coach bags were everywhere in middle and high school and evolved to my very first adult designer purchase from Vivienne Westwood and eventually to receiving the classic Prada Tessuto nylon tote as a gift a few birthdays ago.

As an editor, I often analyze shopping data, which made me wonder: Which designer bags are our readers buying right now? To answer this, I reviewed a month of data from June 25 to July 25, and the one brand readers shopped the most didn't come as a surprise to me. With nine transactions in a single month, two of which were the Soft Margaux 15, The Row was definitely the front-runner.
