If there is anyone who understands that fashion is a full-body sport, it’s legendary tennis ace Venus Williams. We’ve watched her redefine "courtside chic" for years, but stepping into the role of Met Gala cochair this year took her style game to a whole new arena. While she’ll be the first to tell you that the museum’s iconic steps are way more nerve-racking than a Grand Slam final (or even her recent wedding aisle), she arrived looking every bit the regal champion we adore.

Of course, tonight's megawatt Met Gala look followed the Fashion Is Art dress code for this year's Costume Institute exhibit, which examines fashion as a wearable art form. Williams used her custom jewelry to symbolize the connection between her worlds of high-fashion glamour and the physicality required to be one of the best athletes in the world. Every detail was a deliberate nod to "Body of Science," Gatorade's just-launched multiyear global research initiative, which is bringing attention to the lack of research dedicated specifically to women’s bodies. It’s a subtle reminder that while we’ve mastered the aesthetic of the female form, we’re still catching up on the science behind it.

Before the big event, we connected with Venus Williams to chat about following in her sister Serena's footsteps as cochair, conquering Met Gala–day nerves, and why her bespoke jewelry was the ultimate power play on fashion's biggest night of the year.

What was your initial reaction upon being asked to be a cochair this year? Did Serena give you any advice from her time as cochair in 2019?

My initial reaction was, honestly, oh my gosh, yay! There was celebration, disbelief, and a lot of gratitude to have even been considered. I don’t think anyone ever feels worthy of being a cochair of the Met, so it was an incredible feeling. I remember being immensely proud when my sister was cochair, so I know she feels the same about me. I’m still in disbelief; it’s one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had. I’m planning on enjoying the whole experience.

Tell me about your Met Gala jewelry.

My accessories on Monday night are all custom pieces, and they're really designed to bring to life that only 6% of global sports science research focuses exclusively on the female body. Every detail was thoughtfully crafted to connect back to the Body of Science story in a way that feels cohesive and expressive.

How did Body of Science inspire your Met Gala jewelry and looks for the other Met moments?

We crafted looks together that were really meant to call attention to the women’s sports science research problem, including my pre-gala dinner look, the press preview event look, and, of course, my accessories for Monday night. I really wanted each look to tell an individual story on its own, while together telling a bigger story about the power of female bodies and the need to better understand them.

Why is working with Gatorade a good fit for you? What are they working on that excites you?

As an athlete, Gatorade has obviously always been there throughout my career. They have always led from the front when it comes to investing in women’s sports and pushing the ball forward, and when they came to me about Body of Science and being a meaningful part of the solution, it was an easy yes.

Congratulations on your recent wedding! What's more nerve-racking: walking down the aisle or walking up the Met Gala steps, and why?

Walking up the Met Gala stairs will definitely be more nerve-racking for me. I’m naturally quite shy, even if it doesn’t always come across. I’ve always been deeply introverted. Though I’ve grown into more of an "extroverted introvert" over time. That’s why this moment feels a little more daunting. Walking down the aisle felt completely natural. I already knew I wanted to marry my husband, so there were no nerves.

How has the sports science research gap impacted your career? Why is female-specific sports science data important in tennis and other sports?

When Gatorade was first sharing Body of Science, I guess I wasn’t surprised, but was obviously a little frustrated that I spent decades optimizing my fitness and wellness to be the best on the court, and realizing it wasn’t optimized for me. It’s so important for women to have information, resources, and education catered to us and our unique needs, and I’m excited that the next generation of female tennis players, as well as females across life stages, will have better, science-backed data to make decisions about their bodies. People keep asking, “What’s next for women’s sports?” and I think this is a huge part of it.

I'll say it first. I adore black pumps. They instantly elevate any outfit, from casual Bermuda shorts and a tank top to a breezy dress. Additionally, they're incredibly easy to style given their versatility. However, there's a dated shoe color trend that I always turn to when I'm fatigued from black pumps and want something a bit prettier: silver pumps. Serena Williams seems to be on the same page. Williams was just photographed in NYC wearing a monochromatic outfit consisting of a gray tank top and striped pants in the same shade, which she paired with silver pumps.

As the US Open commenced just last week, it's no surprise that Williams is sporting her best outfits for the renowned tennis competition. The fact that she chose silver pumps over a black pair proves that the trend is, in fact, back and better than ever. Silver shoes grew in popularity in 2024 and don't seem to be going anywhere for the rest of 2025. The biggest names in sports gathered last night at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to celebrate their wins throughout 2024. Among those nominated were Formula One driver Max Verstappen, NCAA basketball star turned WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark, WNBA All-Star and 2023 champion A'ja Wilson, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and more. Serena Williams has done it again—the tennis superstar won her first match at this year's US Open, and she did it all while sporting some seriously glamorous hair. Williams played her first match dressed in a diamond-encrusted custom Nike set and shoes with studded curls to match. Williams's curls were created by celebrity stylist Nikki Nelms, who's also known for styling Solange Knowles, Zoë Kravitz, and more.

The bejeweled curls are only fitting for someone who always makes an impressive statement with the way she presents herself on the court. While the Swarovski crystals are the main event, Nelms used a surprisingly affordable product to prep Williams's hair: a $9 curl milk. 

Nelms opted for the Maui Moisture Curl Quench Curl Milk while prepping Williams's hair. She first used it as a leave-in milk to help define curls and tame flyaways. After sweeping Williams's hair into a ponytail, Nelms added more to ensure her curls were as defined as possible. Afterward, she added crystals to Williams's hair to match her outfit. It's all the more impressive that Williams's curls held up so well throughout the match—anyone who works out knows that it's extremely tough to A) have a cute active hairstyle and B) make it sweatproof.

Next, Fall's Biggest Hair Trends Are Here, But I'd Only Try These 10

As both a fashion editor and tennis player, nothing brings me more joy than commenting on tennis outfits. Serena Williams is not only the GOAT because of her on-court skills, but also her fun, daring, and inventive tennis outfits. If there was any doubt about her fashion relevance, she broke the news of her retirement on the oh-so-coveted cover of the September issue of Vogue. 

"I'm torn: I don't want it to be over, but at the same time I'm ready for what's next," Serena wrote in a letter published in Vogue. "I don't know how I'm going to be able to look at this magazine when it comes out, knowing that this is it, the end of a story that started in Compton, California, with a little Black girl who just wanted to play tennis." To honor the Greatest of All Time, I've rounded up some of her most iconic and controversial outfits of all time. 

This is the infamous catsuit from the 2018 French Open. The president of the French Tennis Federation criticized this outfit, saying, "sometimes we've gone too far" and looks like this will "no longer be accepted" at the tournament because it wasn't "respectful to the game." Of course, this was actually designed to help prevent blood clots and Serena pulled it off with aplomb as usual. 

Serena collaborated with the late Virgil Abloh and his brand Off-White on this adorable tutu outfit for the 2018 U.S. Open. Sadly, Abloh passed away last year at the age of 41. 

Serena also wore a black version of the Off-White tutu for night matches at the U.S. Open that year. 

Serena warmed up during the 2004 U.S. Open wearing these head-turning patent boots, but she didn't actually compete in them.

You might think Instagram sparked the golden age of manicures. But looking back, it turns out the early aughts walked so the 2010s could run. The new millennium started out with some late-’90s mall relics like frosted polish and French manicures but became more adventurous as time went on when Chanel’s gone-but-never-forgotten Black Satin polish hit the scene. And things just got more over-the-top from there.

But like so many other nostalgic fashion and beauty trends, we suddenly want to wear them all over again. In fact, the biggest nail trends of 2021 are remarkably similar to those that took over 2001. To prove it, we’re taking a walk down manicure memory lane with Brittney Boyce, celebrity nail artist and founder of Nails of LA, and including ways to re-create the looks right this second. Best of all, the polishes and products of this decade are much healthier for our nails and a little more, well, polished overall.

The French manicure was the go-to for celebs like Jennifer Lopez but then faded into obscurity. "For a long time, white tips were almost forbidden and seen as dated and tacky,” says Boyce. "But with almond or round shaped nails, it looks really updated and classic. It’s back to the original intent of the look, which is to accentuate the look of a natural nail for film, runways, and photos by elongating the look of your hands.”

This Y2K-era trend, seen here on Mya, gives us all the feels. "Frosted nail polish is very easy to do when you’re busy and don’t have time for extensive nail art. I love the jewel tones,” says Boyce, adding that the trend "looks better on short, natural nails.”

In the early aughts, long acrylics were a celebrity favorite, with everyone from Missy Elliott to Pink wearing the look. And although natural, short nails had their moment in the 2010s, longer nails have had a resurgence in the last five years or so. "I’ve never been a big fan of acrylic, as it’s harsh on the nail, but I am a big fan of gel extensions, which is the modern way of achieving length without damaging your nail,” says Boyce. "I think good nail extensions look super sick!"

The punk staple went mainstream after Chanel Black Satin became the It nail color, and everyone from Jessica Simpson to Lauren Conrad wore the shade. 

Kimora Lee Simmons’s flip phone may be totally 2000s, but her nail color will never be out of style. "I did a hot pink recently for Megan Fox for the iHeartRadio Awards, and it was really fun,” says Boyce.

If you spent algebra painting Wite-Out onto your nails, you found your next mani shade. "White nail polish looks really great in the summer,” says the nail pro. "I also like using the white base as a canvas for nail art.”

The nail-art bubble may have burst in the last decade, but it’s been around forever. Fergie showed off this entry-level take back in 2005. "I always love minimalistic graphic nail art. It’s like modern art meets nails,” says Boyce. "In 2021, I think a graphic nail looks great with color-blocking.”

Gwen Stefani’s vintage-inspired phase brought lots of red lipstick and nails. "I think classic red will never go out of style,” says Boyce.

From cell phones to sunglasses, "bedazzling everything was really big in the 2000s,” Boyce reminds us. The wearer of this crystal-embedded manicure? None other than Serena Williams, who is a certified nail technician(!).

"The reverse French with clear tips started coming into the scene in the early 2000s, and it’s one of my most requested looks nowadays,” says Boyce of looks like Christina Aguilera’s. "But now we amp up the clear tips more by using a thin metallic shade to show the separation.”

It’s the kind of dream that I have on a regular basis, so whenever I have the opportunity to quiz hair experts on creating flawless looks, I always make an abundance of notes. I want to know everything, including what products they keep in their kits, how to keep hair smooth, and how to give curls and coils more definition or hold. So when I got the chance to chat with industry-renowned hair artist Vernon François about all things hair, I jumped at it. 

As a session and celebrity stylist, product line founder and recently appointed global consultant for Redken, François has coiffed hair for countless red carpet looks, cover shoots and TV appearances. Yes, this is a man who knows how to make all hair types look and feel amazing. Over the years, he’s styled the likes of Lupita Nyong’o, Laura Harrier, Serena Williams, Amandla Stenberg and Willow Smith—and that’s only a handful of his impressive clientele.

So to help you and me achieve our dreams of great hair every single day, read on for his simple hairstyling tips and favourite product recommendations. Trust me—they're basic but in a good way.

Tip #1: Skip the Heat 

"Create waves overnight without heat," says François. "First, prepare straight or wavy hair with a prep spray. Next, take a long silk scarf—or an old soft, cotton T-shirt—cut into strips, then twist or braid this through the hair. You'll wake up to a fabulous wavy look with body and movement. Brush it out if desired."

Tip #2: Section Your Ponytail

"Style thick or dense hair into a ponytail in two or three sections to minimise tension at the scalp," explains François. "Start by taking a circle-shaped section of hair at the crown, pull that into a ponytail or a puff, and then gather the outer layer at the front, back and sides in to join it. This will enable you to get a slick, snatched look that’s kind to the delicate strands around the hairline."

Tip #3: Embrace a Hairpiece

"All hair textures can wear hair extensions for a dramatic but temporary change," says François. "Seek out good-quality hair extensions that mimic your hair's true texture. Preparing and styling the hair before applying it to your head will easily give you full control over all angles, minimising stress and saving you time. Once you’re happy with the shape, finish with a hair spray that gives shine and hold, like Redken's Pure Force 20."

Tip #4: Use Your Fingers

"Detangle kinky, coily, curly and wavy hair before styling using your fingers instead of a brush," advises François. "This will minimise breakage, help to keep kinks and curls formed, eliminate pulling and preserve length. Start at the ends of your hair and gradually work upwards, massaging out any tangles along the way. A spritz of my Leave-In Conditioner will help to speed the process along."

Tip #5: Try a Head Massage

"Self-care through head massage helps you feel relaxed, positive, and in the right frame of mind for approaching the styling of your hair," says François. "At the same time as stimulating circulation at the scalp, it encourages hair to be malleable for cooperative strands. A little hair oil on your fingertips is an extra treat while doing this. You’ll be glad you took the time."

Tip #6: Train Strands to Lie Flat

"For a sleek style that is effortlessly smooth, prepare hair the night before by training strands to lie flat against the head," explains François. "Apply a mousse, like Redken’s Guts 10, to damp hair. Then, French-braid or tie behind each ear, get the roots and hair around your face smooth, and just let it sit. Strands will be more cooperative the next day, meaning less pulling. Brush the ends out in the morning with a round brush if desired. This works particularly well for straight and wavy hair."

Tip #7: Deep-Clean Hair

"Cleanse post-workout hair and eliminate product build-up with my dry-shampooing technique," explains François. "Section hair before applying a sulphate-free shampoo directly on to dry hair. Massage into the scalp, emulsify with a little water, and then rinse through hair in the direction of the water flow. This deep clean sets the stage for conditioner being absorbed most effectively into hair afterward."

Tip #8: Play With Your Parting

"Elevate your look with minimal effort by changing where and how deeply you part your hair," says François. "Start the parting at the highest point of your eyebrow to add drama. Longer hair? Try parting it closer to your ear with most of your hair falling over the crown of your head for volume. You’ll show fresh kinks, coils, curls and waves instead of those usually exposed to the elements. Sweep and pin the smaller section up at the back by the nape to create shape."

(No, I just work hard and I was born with this badass body and proud of it)."

On perfection: "I want to make it clear that perfection is an impossible goal and should never be a true pursuit in life. And this is something I've had to come to terms with myself. Now that I have Olympia, she is my absolute priority—spending as much time as possible with her every day is so important to me. But I’m still training to win Grand Slams and sometimes I have to make hard choices about how I spend my time."

On workplace equality: "While I think all women are superheroes, we are not superhuman and we need each other's support. We need to give each other grace when we fall short—and when society sets unrealistic expectations or our workplaces have antiquated rules. We must band together and fight for what's fair."

On what she hopes to teach her daughter: "My dreams are just beginning and being a mom is a part of that now. I want Olympia to see and remember her mom winning a Grand Slam title. I want her to know that my work fulfills me, that I'm proud and passionate about what I do even if I'm not perfect at it, and that she should never give up on her dreams. I want her to see a world of possibilities at her feet and to believe in those first steps she took when I was training, every time she takes a leap toward her goals—however big the risk."

On the pressures of motherhood: "It's totally normal to feel like I'm not doing enough for my baby. We have all been there. I work a lot, I train, and I'm trying to be the best athlete I can be. However, that means although I have been with her every day of my life, I'm not around as much as I would like to be. Most of you moms deal with the same thing. Whether stay-at-home or working, finding that balance with kids is a true art. You are the true heroes. I'm here to say: if you are having a rough day or week—it’s ok—I am, too!!! Theres always tomm[orrow]!"

On perseverance: "But as we know, too often women are not supported enough or are discouraged from choosing their path. I hope together we can change that. For me, it was a question of resilience. What others marked as flaws or disadvantages about myself—my race, my gender—I embraced as fuel for my success. I never let anything or anyone define me or my potential. I controlled my future."

On gender equality: "As we know, women have to break down many barriers on the road to success. One of those barriers is the way we are constantly reminded we are not men, as if it is a flaw. People call me one of the 'world's greatest female athletes'. Do they say LeBron is one of the world's best male athletes? Is Tiger? Federer? Why not? They are certainly not female. We should never let this go unchallenged. We should always be judged by our achievements, not by our gender."

Taller women often have broader shoulders, making certain clothing items a challenge. Speaking from personal experience, well-fitting jackets are particularly hard to find for my tall frame. I always need to size up so that it fits in the shoulders, but then it often ends up being too large elsewhere. Other than getting a tailor involved, my key is to find relaxed, loosely fitting jackets, which are much easier for tall women to wear straight off the rack. 

Fancy Flats

No, I'm not here to say that taller women can't wear heels. It's just that many of us choose to wear more practical footwear so we don't stick out like a sore thumb—celebrities included. At 5'11", Nicole Kidman knows the power of a fancy flat, which can be just as dressy as any pair of heels in existence. 

Leg-Baring Party Dress

If you've got it, flaunt it. Long legs are a major perk of being tall, and celebrities like 5'10" Zendaya and 5'9" Gywneth Paltrow know how to take full advantage.

It's not every day that a college sophomore creates a celebrity-loved jewelry brand, but Shilpa Yarlagadda isn't your average student. Since the sophomore at Harvard founded Shiffon Co. in 2017, the likes of Michelle Obama, Serena Williams, Nicole Kidman, Christy Turlington (and many others) have all been spotted wearing the brand's signature Duet Pinky Ring. And that's not even the best part: 50% of the profits from the pinky rings are donated to seed grants for female entrepreneurs.

"The Duet Pinky Ring represents a 'pinky promise' to pay it forward to support women," Yarlagadda told Who What Wear. Of course, I had to ask what her reaction was after seeing a former first lady and a 23-time Grand Slam champion wear her design. "Our team really looks up to women like Michelle Obama and Serena Williams," Yarlagadda said, "so seeing them wear our pinky ring and join the girl gang really gave us confidence that our Pinky Pledge movement has legs. Since Serena has actually invested in female-founded companies like Daily Harvest, and Michelle has always empowered women with the Global Girl Alliance, which helps adolescent girls get access to education since over 98 million girls in the world are currently not in school, having these two incredible women take the Pinky Pledge was an amazing moment to be a part of." Something tells us we'll be seeing a lot more of this brand in the future—and we can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve.

I'm on the phone with Serena Williams three days before her opening round at this year's U.S. Open in New York City. She's talking about the kind of woman her new clothing brand, Serena, is designed for—but she may as well be talking about herself. "Our customer is someone who believes in themselves and who is unapologetically into fashion; they're not afraid to make a statement, be bold, and they're not afraid to be seen and be heard," Williams told Who What Wear. After all, you don't win a staggering 23 Grand Slams without a hefty dose of belief in yourself—and you don't step onto the court wearing everything from a catsuit to a tutu without wanting to be seen.

Not all of her customers are going to wake up with the same self-assuredness of a tennis icon, but her effortlessly cool clothes can help. "We make designs for women who are feeling confident or who aren't necessarily feeling confident that day but want to, so they wear our clothes," Williams told me. 

First launched at the end of May, the Serena brand consists of a mix of on-trend pieces (bike shorts and acid-wash jeans) and timeless staples (T-shirts and pencil skirts). Naturally, this blend is a reflection of Williams's own personal style. "I definitely enjoy keeping up with trends, but with a classic twist," she told Who What Wear. This past weekend, the brand dropped new denim styles and also celebrated its first pop-up shop at Tictail in New York City, where Williams is currently chasing her seventh U.S. Open trophy.

On Williams: Nike x Virgil Abloh dress 

What did you decide to start this new brand?

I decided to start this line because I love fashion. I studied fashion in school at the Art Institute. I've always done it—I've designed a lot of stuff for Nike. As you know, I did my own collection with HSN. I wanted to do something where I'm making all the decisions and being the creative director, so it was time to move out on my own. That's pretty much what I did.

How would you describe New York City style? Why do you think your collection will resonate with New York City women?

I find our style is really perfect for all kinds of women. The pieces we chose for our pop-up shop really go with the New York City woman because a lot of the styles are super comfortable and also flexible. In New York, you'll be walking from the office to a bar and you want to be able to have that flexibility.

Which item do you think NYC women will be buying the most of and why?

A couple come to mind. The slip dress is super awesome. I saw a lot of women buying it. It's an unbelievable fit. We should have called it Not Your Average Slip Dress because we used a silk crepe instead of regular silk, and it has more texture to it. It's a little different. It has a slit that goes down the front. It's perfect for this time of year in New York. Also, our jeans are something the New York woman can wear because they are really good fitting jeans; they're nice and high-waisted. You can dress them up and go to the bar.

What's the best-selling item from your brand right now?

Our tops sell really well, and we bring out special editions. Right now, we have a special edition New York top for the U.S. Open. We had one from London that sold out in like 20 minutes, so we wanted to bring it back for the Open, but a different version. Our tops are incredibly soft. I literally sleep in my tops because they're so soft. I think because of that, it's one of our best sellers.

On Williams: Serena Retro Fit Jeans in Light Wash ($135)

What's your number one favorite denim trend for fall and why?

My favorite denim trend is what we're doing with our oversize jackets; that really cool oversize boyfriend jacket. You can literally wear it with so many different things.

What do you think is the most universally flattering jeans shape and why?

Anything high-waisted, right? Whether you're pear-shaped or apple or square, everyone really looks good in the high waist; it really accents your look. Our jeans are high-waisted so it works out perfectly.

What denim trends are you not a fan of? 

I would say I love all denim trends. I love all styles of denim. Our first denim collection is fit to be different and be bold and make a statement—going back to "be seen and be heard." I was looking at this old photo of men sitting on the high-rise having lunch, you know that famous photo from the '30s? I was like, wow that's crazy, they're all wearing jeans. I thought that's interesting. I wanted to make jeans you could actually do work in. I was also inspired by the '80s in terms of our wash. And they fit really well, whether you have curves or are a size two.

How was the Royal Duchess hoodie inspired by Meghan Markle?

It was just a great moment with Meghan and her wedding and knowing how happy she was, so I just thought of [the collection] as being super royal. We sent her our royal collection, which was funny.

Besides the hoodie, what other items would be Markle's favorite?

I would say our button-down top, the Tribeca Button-Down Shirt. I think that would be really nice on her. Also our straight-cut skirt.

I love the bike shorts in the collection, but it can be a tricky trend some women might be afraid to try. What's your advice on the best way to style bike shorts, and why do you think women should give them a try?

We styled it for you; you can buy the top that goes with it. I love bike shorts. When I was growing up, they were so so popular. When they became trendy again, that was one of the first things [I wanted to include in the collection]. They are really cool. Ours are high-waisted, so we pair them with a crop top, but honestly, there are so many ways to wear it—maybe also with a long, open flowy coat.

As both a fashion editor and tennis player, I loved Serena Williams's Nike catsuit at the French Open tournament back in May. She loved it too, calling it a dedication to fierce moms who have come back from tough pregnancies. It seems like the only person who didn't like it was the president of the French Tennis Federation, Bernard Giudicelli.

Per The Associated Press, Giudicelli says the French Open will now institute a new dress code for players. Historically, Wimbledon's all-white dress code has been the only outfit regulation at any of the four Grand Slams, where female players typically wear dresses, skirts, or shorts. "I think that sometimes we've gone too far," he told Tennis Magazine, referencing on-court outfits, highlighting Williams's catsuit in particular: "It will no longer be accepted. One must respect the game and the place."

Here's the problem, Giudicelli: It's not Williams's job to make you feel comfortable with her appearance. Maybe you missed the memo, but Williams's catsuit was not merely a fashion statement. In January, Williams told Vogue she almost died during childbirth due to complications from blood clots, and in May, she stated in a press conference that pants help keep her blood circulation going. 

There is so much to unpack from his statement, but the fact that he deigned to use the word "respect" stood out to me. Indeed, there is a glaring lack of respect, but not on Serena's part. Where is the respect for a 23-time Grand Slam champion whose comeback undoubtedly raised ticket sales for the French Open? Where is the respect for a mother taking every precaution possible for her health? Where is the respect for an athlete who is allowed to wear whatever she pleases on her way to collecting a record-breaking number of trophies?

Giudicelli and the French Tennis Federation would be wise to get on the right side of history when it comes to arbitrarily policing women's clothing choices. In the meantime, I'll be rooting for her at every tournament—no matter what she's wearing.

Was there any doubt that Serena Williams would pull out all the stops with her outfit for this year's U.S. Open? After making her Grand Slam comeback in a symbolic catsuit at the French Open, Williams is upping the ante for the NYC tournament, which kicks off on August 27. She's teamed up with Virgil Abloh, Off-White designer and Louis Vuitton men's artistic director, on a new Nike collection that everyone's already dying to get their hands on.

"With Serena, we have one of our generation's most powerful, inspiring athletes as the muse," Abloh said in a press release. "I was trying to embody her spirit and bring something compelling and fresh to tennis." Williams will wear a white dress for daytime matches and a black version for nighttime matches—both were inspired by her love of dance and ballet. "It has a sort of ballerina-esque silhouette to symbolize her grace," Abloh continued. "It's not about bells and whistles and tricks. It's just about it living on the body, and expressing Serena's spirit with each swing of the racket."

Williams's dresses will retail for $500, and while the collection's exact launch date has not been released, we can expect it to be near the U.S. Open's first round on August 27. Beyoncé turned 35 over the weekend, and in true Queen Bey fashion, she went all-out for an amazingly over-the-top birthday party—did you expect anything less? The theme: Soul Train. The A-list attendees: everyone from Serena Williams and Jourdan Dunn to Kelly Rowland and Joan Smalls. Clad in sequins, wide-leg pants, and more, everyone wore their best '70s-inspired looks for the occasion. From what we can tell, it was definitely the party to be at. 

On her Instagram, Beyoncé wrote a sweet note to her friends and family to thank them for their birthday messages. "I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the beautiful and thoughtful birthday wishes," she captioned the photo. "I am so fortunate to have the love and support of my family, my friends, and my hive. We've grown up together and you guys continue to inspire and motivate me [every day…]" The feeling is mutual, Bey!

With a whopping 22 Grand Slam titles to her name, Serena Williams is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Given the insane amount of hours she's spent on the tennis court, it's safe to say she knows a thing or two about the best athletic wear on the market. So when Williams says there's one brand that makes the best sports bras out there, you better believe we listen up.

In a new interview with Vogue.com, Williams proclaimed her loyalty to Australian brand Berlei. "I’ve been wearing [Berlei bras] for 12 years because I have a larger bust,” she told Vogue.com. "Some girls can play with a sheath. I need a full-on bra." If you're in the same camp, the brand might be a godsend with a wide range of styles available in sizes 30A to 40E. When it's good enough for Serena Williams, it's good enough for us.
