The 2026 award season is coming to a close, and it seems that the nominees, presenters, and attendees are saving some of their best red carpet looks for last. Last night, the 32nd Actor Awards (aka, the award show formerly known as the SAG Awards) took place in downtown Los Angeles, and I found it to be a very chic red carpet. In contrast to the upcoming Oscar Awards, the Actor Awards offer the attendees the opportunity to have a bit more fun with their looks. They're not quite as formal as the Oscars, and many on the red carpet embraced the opportunity to take some fashion risks that undoubtedly paid off. It's also worth noting that for the first time in my memory for an award show, the red carpet had a theme—"Reimagining Hollywood Glamour From the '20s and '30s"—and many on the red carpet seemed to let that guide what they chose to wear.

You may have seen our coverage of all the looks from the Actor Awards red carpet, as well as our exhaustive beauty coverage from the night, but now that we've all had some time to marinate on it, I've chosen the top five looks of the night. If I'm being honest, it wasn't all that easy—it was a very chic red carpet, with lots of looks that even the most discerning of fashion people would appreciate, but narrow it down I did. From my fashion-person perspective, the following are the top five looks of the night. Scroll on to find out why.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone has become a staple on the red carpet, with a great many nominations and wins under her belt. And although I may personally be biased because I'm a fan, let me just say that she has been killing it on the award circuit this year. Stone, who was nominated for her work in Bugonia, and stylist Petra Flannery opted for a shimmery lilac Louis Vuitton gown with a matching shimmering cardigan. It had an effortless '90s minimalism feel to it and exemplified what cool girls wear on the red carpet in 2026.

Chase Infiniti

New red carpet It girl Chase Infiniti, nominated for One Battle After Another, also opted for Louis Vuitton. Her wheat-colored formfitting long-sleeve gown and cloche-style mesh cap perfectly represented the theme and felt glamorous yet modern. She said in a red carpet interview that she was going for a Josephine Baker look, and she undoubtedly succeeded.

Sarah Pidgeon

Sarah Pidgeon, another new face on the red carpet this year, has seen her star in Hollywood and the fashion world rise in recent months, given her spot-on portrayal of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette. Pidgeon wore a pale pink tulip-shaped strapless gown from Balenciaga's S/S 26 collection, and it pretty much solidified her as the new fashion It girl who I hope will be a fixture on red carpets for years to come. Taking fashion risks right out of the gate is always a good idea, if you ask me.

Demi Moore

Whenever I receive a press release that someone will be wearing Schiaparelli on the red carpet, I know it's going to be a dramatic, showstopping moment, and that's exactly what it was when Demi Moore stepped on the red carpet wearing a S/S 26 couture gown by the fashion house. According to Schiaparelli, the sculptural black bustier gown was made of black wool crêpe embellished with a satin-stitch trompe l’œil crocodile tail, and the white tulle "cloud" at the back was embroidered with 8500 black mimosas in silk thread and over 11,000 crystals. Breathtaking, to say the least.

Kate Hudson

Last but not least, Kate Hudson, nominated for Song Sung Blue, went with an ethereal bridal-esque gown, custom-made by Valentino. It included trend-forward elements such as elegant ruching and a cape detail that cascaded over her shoulders. It was the perfect example of the glamorous, romantic Grecian-inspired aesthetic that was popular in the 1930s, in keeping with the theme for the night.

We need not remind you that award season is in full swing, with the last few weekends playing host to a smattering of glitzy red carpets (hey, Golden Globes and Grammys), bespoke designer gowns, and cutting-edge tuxedos (we won’t soon forget Bad Bunny’s Grammy-sweeping Schiaparelli 'fit). That said, we may need to remind you that you do, in fact, know what tonight’s award show is—it’s just henceforth going by a different name. The Actor Awards have been renamed after 32 years of being known as the SAG Awards, a decision reached by the SAG-AFTRA Awards Committee and main showrunner to make things more obvious—and though the title has undergone a rebrand, the on-stage glamour remains.

The Actor Awards are the final key benchmark before the Oscars on March 15, meaning that tonight will set the scene for what kinds of results we’ll expect on Hollywood’s most prestigious stage come mid-month. While we can’t wait to learn the fate of each nominee tonight, we beauty editors are eagle-eyed on the small details that bring their couture ensembles to life. The romantic tendrils, painted lips, and silky nail polishes we see on these carpets exude the kind of Hollywood glamour that inspired us into these careers, and we’re already swooning over the looks floating down the red carpet. The Best 2026 Actor Awards Beauty Looks

Emma Stone just gave us a masterclass in spring beauty and short hair styling. The Bugonia star and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor nominee sported her hair in a loose, tendril-strewn updo (fashioned by celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak) and kept her makeup healthy and minimal—emphasizing glowy skin, flushed cheeks, and peachy-pink lips.

Sarah Paulson's classic glam captured us right away, but her blunt, chin-grazing bob made us stay. Parted down the middle and lightly waved (hi, Maude Apatow's crinkle cut), this cut is making us consider the big chop.

Don't mind us, we're just fawning over Mindy Kaling's ultra-sleek strands and effortless cool-toned glam. The multi-hyphenate's style is parted down the middle, and her glossy, greige pout takes center stage. (BRB, running to grab our aughts-inspired liners.)

Sinners' Jayme Lawson stopped us in our tracks with this glitzy, golden eye shadow and liner look. Oh, and did we mention her piece-y iteration of a kiss curl? No detail was spared.

Fellow Sinners star Wunmi Mosaku stole the show with her burnished metallic eye shadow and sculptural updo. She allowed her glowy skin to take the spotlight and seals everything together with a glossy nude lip.

Parker Posey is never one to shy away from a fashion—or beauty!—moment, as evidenced by this bubblegum ensemble (and matching eye look). The White Lotus star paired a voluminously curly '60s bob with a punchy pop of pink eye shadow, complete with a thickly mascara-ed line of fringe. Very Twiggy, if you ask us.

Styled by celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett, the actress's clipped bob features a side part and sleek tuck behind the ears, while a red lip contrasts her sculptural black-and-white look, anchoring the room's attention on her.

One thing about Jenna Ortega? She's going to deliver our latest bout of beauty inspo. The Wednesday frontrunner lined her eyes in a dark kohl flick, primarily in the upper and lower waterlines, and carved out her cheekbones with a swathe of chiseling bronze. Her Gen Z version of '90s makeup is complete with rich brown lip liner and a dose of matte white shadow below the browbone.

The One Battle After Another star is already sweeping award season—both in the supporting actress category and on the carpet. Though Teyana Taylor's eye-catching gowns are often the talking points of her looks, we can't help but ogle at her stunning geometric smoky eye—complete with diffused negative space lower liner and an angular inner eye—and bronzy pink blush. We're anxiously awaiting the details on her ornate French manicure, which appears to be bedecked with 3D gold accents.

Her look gracefully complements her brown eyes—effectively pulling together her bronzy, sculpted cheeks and warm nude lip.

To balance the statement look, the model kept her hair loose and seemingly natural, with a touch of wavy texture.

Quinta Brunson made a showstopping appearance thanks to her elegant glam: a matte brown eye and rich red lip. She pulled everything together by coiffing her Zoë Kravitz–esque bixie into classic, glossy waves with a romantic kiss curl at the center.

If you need us, we'll be staring off into space thinking about Michelle Williams' dreamy bubble bob. Celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan styled the Dying for Sex star's blonde tresses tucked behind her ears and dramatically flipped inward to create the chic, bouncy style we're currently saving to our hairspo boards.

Landman's Ali Larter played into the red carpet theme with a ruby pout in what appears to be a shade identical to that of her draped gown. Celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan played up the actress's eyes with fluttery lashes, but otherwise kept quietly clean, letting her pale blonde hair and garnet lips do the talking.

Her petal-pink blush matches the pale tulip shade of her dress, and her eyes are kept clean, save for a baby flick of mascara.

Marty Supreme and I Love L.A. star Odessa A'zion always delivers with the curly hair moments, and tonight is no different. Instead of wearing her thick tresses down in her long,'70s-inspired style, the actress piled her hair high into a tendril-strewn bun to complement her fringy jumpsuit.

When she isn't stealing scenes in The White Lotus, Natasha Rothwell is stealing our breath on the red carpet. Her artfully waved hairstyle and pillowy pink pout feel straight out of the '30s, and we're living for every last striking detail.

Dove Cameron has bewitched us body and soul with this delicately vampy look. Her mocha Hollywood waves perfectly complement her deep ruby lips—beautifully contrasting with her eyes, which are kept minimal with a wash of bronzy shadow and lush lashes.

Sheryl Lee Ralph is every bit the dream girl on tonight's red carpet. Her look, complete with a glamorous smoky eye and warm-toned lip, is marked by the glossy vintage kiss curl trend that dominated the 2025 Met Gala.

What makes the 2026 Actor Awards so special and exciting, especially for fashion people, is that for the first time, Elle has set the official fashion theme for its red carpet: Reimagining Hollywood Glamour From the '20s and '30s. "The concept pays tribute to an era defined by bold expression, sensuality, and cultural collision," as noted in a press release. Personally, I'm eager to see how A-listers and their stylists interpret this theme. The good news is that I don't have to wait any longer, as the first celebrities are already arriving, and the energy suggests the night will be filled with stunning fashion.

Kristen Bell is no stranger to commanding a room. After all, it's been three years since she began hosting the iconic show. With the Screen Actors Guild being rebranded to The Actor Awards, there are even bigger shoes to fill than her normal years on this year's red carpet. Bell will be honoring the history of Hollywood. And what she plans on wearing? From tailored tuxedos to gowns that shimmer like liquid on stage, each look has been carefully designed to evolve with the night, blending Old Hollywood glamour with a distinctly modern edge. And before we get our first glimpse on the big screen, we are getting the chance to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes before they even come out.

We sat down with her stylist, Nicole Chavez, to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how these looks came together—from the first spark of inspiration to the final, statuesque moment that’s sure to leave the audience breathless. In the earliest stages of Kristen’s looks this season, what sparked the excitement?

For me, I was really excited by the idea of building a fashion arc instead of just selecting three to five beautiful looks. Once we knew the theme was reimagined Old Hollywood glamour, it felt like such a great opportunity to explore different expressions of that throughout the night.

I kept going back to something we’ve done before—she comes out hosting and just commands this presence. So the thought of a tuxedo was really the first spark.

I loved the idea of opening the show in something tailored and strong. There’s something very Old Hollywood about sharp suiting, but it also feels modern and right for her as a host. She loves menswear—we even had a nod to it in the promo where she’s wearing a vest and tie. It just feels very authentic to her.

From there, I was really drawn to pieces that play with light and movement—intricate beading, elongating silhouettes. She’s quite petite, so that’s always a consideration. I kept thinking about the glamour that feels really cinematic on stage.

It became less about any one dress and more about how the looks evolve over the course of the show—starting strong with authority, then moving into luminous glamour, and ending in something bold and dramatic

The word “reimagining” stands out in the theme. What does that mean to you versus re-creating?

For me, reimagining is very different from re-creating. Re-creating feels more like a replica (almost like a costume), whereas reimagining is about honoring Old Hollywood glamour without copying one specific moment.

It’s about taking the essence—the drama, the silhouettes, the light, the black-and-white imagery—and translating that into something that feels modern but still authentic to her.

I kept coming back to bias-cut gowns because they look so good on her, and beading that feels almost liquid—something that catches the light beautifully. She’s going to be on stage, so I wanted that movement and luminosity you used to see in films from the ’30s.

I also thought about women like Marlene Dietrich—that balance of femininity and authority, especially in tailoring. That felt very aligned with Kristen as a host.

For mood boards, I didn’t do a ton, but I pulled from classic film stills, elongating silhouettes, and those really dramatic staircase moments. I also layered in more modern couture references from designers like Elie Saab and Giorgio Armani—pieces that feel sculptural and architectural.

I didn’t want anything to feel nostalgic or like we were copying something. It was about capturing cinematic glamour, but giving it a modern edge.

The Mood Board

Are there elements of Kristen’s personal style you wanted to highlight throughout?

Kristen has an incredible balance of strength and approachability, and I really wanted that to come through.

She gravitates toward clean lines and minimal silhouettes that feel strong but not overworked or fussy. Even within this Old Hollywood framework, it was important that nothing felt overly precious or costumey—especially because of her petite size. I never want it to feel like the clothes are wearing her.

Comfort is also really important to her. I always want her to feel like she can move and be at ease, especially as a host. So, even with something intricate or beaded, there has to be fluidity built in.

The tuxedo really highlights her confidence and sense of humor. When she put it on, she immediately said she loved how quirky and unexpected it felt, while still being refined and elegant. It will be Armani Privé couture, so it’s incredibly special.

The metallic gown she wears in the middle of the show really leans into that luminosity and Old Hollywood glamour—it’s all about how it catches the light.

And then the final look is a halter dress, which she loves as a silhouette. It’s fully beaded, so it ties back to that Old Hollywood feeling, but it also brings out a bold, statuesque side to her. That’s something I’m always trying to create, especially because we’re both petite—those really elongating, statuesque silhouettes.

Was there a moment in the process where everything clicked?

In all honesty, everything really clicked once I had a clear run of show, which was just this Tuesday. I had been exploring beautiful options for weeks (maybe even a month), but once I understood the pacing, the energy, the rhythm of the middle, and the tone of the ending, it all became much clearer.

That’s when it shifted from just great dresses to a cohesive fashion story. I come from costume design, working in film and television, so I naturally think in that way. That’s why I love press tours and especially doing these hosting moments with her: I get to tell a story.

The tuxedo makes sense for the opening—it establishes authority. The metallic beaded gown carries the glamour through the heart of the show. And then the black halter feels like the final punctuation mark.

I really needed that structural framework for everything to fall into place, and once I had it, the rest became very clear.

That said, I’m still keeping options waiting in the wings. It’s Thursday evening; things can still change. We still have a jewelry fitting and rehearsal tomorrow, so I always like to be overprepared.

What’s one way you intentionally made the looks feel modern rather than costumey?

This might be more off-the-record, but honestly, it comes down to restraint.

Because Kristen is petite and we tend to stay within more minimal silhouettes, I have to be really mindful of keeping things modern rather than letting them feel like a costume.

I see so many beautiful gowns and suiting that are incredibly ornate and over-the-top, and personally, I’m very drawn to that, so I actually have to edit myself when I’m styling her, but in the best way.

Instead of layering on overly vintage details, I focus on what we always aim for: clean lines, strong tailoring, and silhouettes that feel architectural rather than nostalgic.

It’s really about pulling back instead of adding more.

Without giving too much away, what can viewers expect from Kristen’s looks throughout the show?

They can expect range and intention. I put a lot of thought into making sure it doesn’t feel one-note—especially with a theme like this. As the energy of the show shifts, I want the fashion to shift with it.

We start in something strong and tailored to establish presence, then move into a more fluid, glamorous moment, and close on something bold and decisive. Everything lives in the same world, but there’s a clear progression.

At the end of the day, it’s about making sure the clothes enhance her role as a host. I never want the fashion to overpower her presence. She’s such a phenomenal host and so approachable—I want that to come through. The goal is for everything to feel polished and cinematic, but also effortless, so she feels comfortable enough to go out there and really carry the show.

What do you hope people feel when they see Kristen step onto the carpet?

I hope they feel that immediate sense of presence. The gown we selected is so beautiful—it has this liquid quality to it, and it’s very different from anything she’s worn before. It catches the light in such a cinematic way. The beading is incredibly detailed and placed in all the right areas, and there’s real strength in the silhouette.

It’s sleek and modern, but it also has this sculpted train that gives it a dramatic finish. What’s also interesting is how the logistics actually worked in our favor. We’re getting ready entirely backstage—it’s a very long day with rehearsals, glam, and everything happening at the venue. Normally, a dress like this would be really difficult to travel in—she’d probably have to ride in a sprinter, which isn’t really our style—but in this case, she can just walk straight from backstage to the carpet, which makes it ideal. I want it to do more than shimmer—I want it to command.

The SAG Awards may be going by a new name this year (hello, The Actor Awards), but the red carpet fashion legacy is very much intact. Long before viral styling moments and Instagram-first looks, these awards produced some of the most quietly influential outfits in celebrity fashion history—many of which still feel surprisingly modern today. Jennifer Aniston’s sleek black cutout dress is peak ’90s minimalism in its purest form. It’s the kind of look that quietly reshaped red carpet dressing without trying too hard—which is exactly why it still resonates.

Halle Berry’s black slip dress perfectly captured the era’s obsession with effortless glamour. It’s simple, sensual, and unfussy—a reminder that confidence often does the heavy lifting.

Angelina Jolie’s white gown paired with a bold diamond necklace was understated yet magnetic. An era of her style that should go down in history.

This Zendaya look is one I may never forget. Right when florals were having their biggest moment in fashion in quite some time, she stepped out in this dress that screamed fairytale garden. I was obsessed.

Seeing Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway together instantly felt like a fashion moment in itself. Each look nodded to their individual style evolution while reinforcing their collective fashion legacy. Ahead of the sequel to Devil Wears Prada, I couldn’t be more excited.

Selena Gomez’s black off-the-shoulder gown was classic Hollywood with a modern polish. It’s proof that simplicity, when done right, always photographs beautifully.

Cynthia Erivo’s recent silver high-neck gown was dramatic, refined, and unmistakably powerful. The silhouette and finish made it feel instantly iconic.

I’ve gotten it down to a routine. The evening of every award show, I struggle to figure out what platform is streaming the red carpet, sign up for whatever 30-day trial is required, and watch with wide eyes as hordes of glittering celebrities slink down the red carpet, expertly posing to show off their recent runway acquirements or archival fashion pulls. From the gowns to the glam, there are a million details to drink up—though, the one that I always find myself fixated on (and plotting how to re-create myself) is the makeup.

We’ve all seen the heavy-blush trend blossom on and off the red carpet, middle parts sweep the scene, and so many more beauty trends start on the red carpet in award seasons past. Well, now that this one has officially come to a close with the 97th Academy Awards (Oscars, for the commoner), I took it upon myself to take a holistic look at the beauty Venn diagram of this year’s many red carpets, from film to music, to see which looks had the most crossover—and some of the most in-demand makeup artists from this season corroborated.

“I’ve noticed people leaning to a transparent approach to red carpet makeup—not so many heavy pigments and bold colors right now,” says celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. Responsible for Emma Stone’s gloriously glowing look at the Oscars and Sophie Thatcher’s retro-inspired glam, Goodwin looks to the stars as the ultimate trendsetters versus letting herself be influenced by outside ideals—though, these are the looks that set the course for the seasons to come.

“I always tailor each makeup to the personality and unique style of whoever I’m working with to bring out the version of them that feels the most authentically them," she adds. "Whenever I can do that, I feel proud.” Below, the three makeup trends that booked and busy MUAs were repeatedly asked for this glitzy award season.

Glowy Skin

From “glass skin” to slugging, it’s no secret that celebrities will try anything to achieve glowing skin—especially on the carpet. According to the pros, it all starts with skincare and facial sculpting.

“Hydrated skin is the key to any successful makeup in my opinion, but too much product and foundation slides right off,” explains Goodwin. “It’s about striking the right balance.” The artist says skincare prep is where most of her efforts go because “glowing skin is always in,” no matter the look.

To perfect her clients’ canvases, Goodwin has a no-fail routine. “I start by spraying IS Clinical Copper Firming Mist and IS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum Advance+, then trace a NuFace along the jawline and under-eye area,” she explains. Goodwin then gets to work on the eyes first, keeping eye masks (her favorites from Bioeffect) on until it’s time to move on to complexion.

Whether this means a sun-kissed bronze, a light-reflecting blush, or a dewy visage, celebs keep the glow going far beyond serums and masks. “My most requested makeup look has been a radiant, glowing complexion with fresh peachy-pink tones on the cheeks,” says Rokael Lizama, who has a client list boasting Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian. The trick is to use a luminous foundation to start things with a shine, and Lizama creates this angelic effect with Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick. “It creates a radiant, even, dewy complexion,” he says.

But the radiance doesn’t stop there—he often finished off each look by accentuating the high points of the face and décolleté with a blendable highlighter, such as this rosy Glow Maximizer from Dior.

“Always apply complexion products in very thin layers and build as needed to create the most flawless, long-lasting base,” advises Lizama. “Lightweight and often gel-based moisturizers help prolong the wear of my client’s makeup and give a poreless look to the complexion.”

Old Hollywood Rouge

We’ve been in blush zeitgeist for a few years now, and this award season confirmed that this trend is nowhere near slowing down. Sabrina Carpenter’s makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, led the charge with “Old Hollywood” lips and cheeks decorating the star’s many red carpet appearances, embracing a minimal eye with a rich lip. Several of Gonzalez’s clients this season wanted the “romantic” look of skin-forward glam with high-intensity blush. Though, she added that “full lips and fluffy lashes are still a thing.”

But while blush swept the scene for yet another award season, Gonzalez sees the color wheel tipping into deeper territory than the pastel pinks that may pop into your head. The makeup artist foresees “burgundies, deep browns, [and] deeper reds” painting the lips and cheeks of the fashion-forward in the months to come, no matter how unseasonal that might sound, because of these shades’ classic natures.

Chelsea agrees, especially as the weather becomes more mild. “With spring coming up, my clients have been loving a good blush moment. It brings youthfulness to the skin,” she explains. While the artist also agrees that bold lip colors will never leave the awards look book, stars seem to be taking a less polished approach to application. “Red lips will always be perfect for a red carpet, but I think a smudged overlined lip color has been pretty popular as well,” Chelsea adds. A bitten-lip moment, perhaps?

Cashmere Eyes

Silky, subtle—the elegant eyes we’ve seen on the red carpets this year feel like the older, fancier sisters of natural glam. Instead of leaning on dark eye shadows for statement eyes, Hollywood’s most in-demand artists have been approaching A-list eyes with a lighter touch—a smoky eye with shading as soft as cashmere.

“My clients love a sultry smoke on the outer corner and a bit of sparkle in the inner part of the lid,” muses Lizama, adding a “gorgeous pop” in photographs. With a dusting of taupe smoke along Demi Moore’s lids at the SAG Awards and a golden version completing Beyoncé’s ethereal glam at the Grammys, these silken kinds of smoky eyes were a constant for the makeup artist this season.

Chelsea created a similar champagne look for Olivia Munn's Vanity Fair Oscar Party glam, with a wash of golden shimmer sparkling atop her lids (courtesy of Armani Beauty). It's what we did for the Golden Globes; it's what we did for the Grammy's; and now, it's what we're doing for the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards—more colloquially known as the SAG Awards. This award season, we've covered some of the biggest red-carpet style moments from the Golden Globes to the Grammys, and tonight, we're gearing up for the star-studded Screen Actors Guild Awards, celebrating the outstanding motion picture and television performances of the year, voted by SAG-AFTRA's robust membership of 119,000+ performers.

The SAG Awards, now in its 30th year, will take place at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. Tan France and Elaine Welteroth are set to host the official pre-show. The last four months have been busy for Italian actress Beatrice Grannò. Following the premiere of season two of The White Lotus, where she broke out playing Sicily native and aspiring singer Mia, Grannò has appeared on talk shows, on magazine covers, in a Skims campaign with co-star Simona Tabasco, and front row at Paris Couture Week and New York Fashion Week. It’s been a whirlwind press tour for the 29-year-old that culminated in an exciting and well-deserved win at the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The star-studded cast turned out in full this Sunday to take home the coveted statue for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, marking yet another big night for the Mike White series.

For the occasion, Grannò selected a gorgeous black dress with a deep-V neckline and thigh-high slit from Valentino’s Urban Riviera collection accompanied by Tiffany & Co. jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels. The look, styled by Valeria Marchetti, was complemented with slicked-back hair and her signature red lip. Who What Wear was there to document all the details of her look before she hit the red carpet, and we caught up with the actress the next morning to talk about the special evening.

Congratulations on season two of The White Lotus and your Screen Actors Guild Awards win for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series! What has it meant to you to be a part of this show and incredible ensemble?

The fact that we won as an ensemble is what makes this award really special. Sometimes in this job, you feel like it’s a very individual job. You are very much by yourself. And also with awards, you are always competing with other people. So the fact that we all won as a group, it was something that I had never experienced before, and it was so beautiful when we were there all together celebrating. We kept saying congratulations to one another. We all had our own [statue]! And these types of experiences make you remember that you are never alone. Your job is not just you. It’s loads of people’s jobs, especially when you are an artist. And the fact that all the actors voted for us, it’s beautiful. 

Looking back, what excited you most about playing a character like Mia?

I love that she is so unpredictable. You never know who she’s going to be, what she’s going to become, or what she’s going to do. I love the fact that she is musical. At the beginning, that’s what made me fall in love with her—to be able to play someone who can sing. But I loved the fact that she started out as this innocent young girl, and she flipped into something else. Also, last night, we were all having dinner, The White Lotus cast, and I was having a conversation with Will Sharpe, who is a very clever guy, and he was saying that he realized me and Lucia were… You know Midsummer's Night Dream? That’s a very similar story, and the character Puck could be me and Lucia, so I love the fact that they could not even exist. They could be like two imaginary friends, but they are there to fix things, break the equilibrium. I just love this about Mia and, of course, Lucia.

Mia is a great character. I also love how determined she was to get her moment in the spotlight. 

She is so determined that she becomes blind. She doesn’t see what she’s doing. I said this before, but you know when you are late? You’re in a rush, and you have to leave. You become clumsy, and you leave a mess. And then you come back home, and it’s like, "Oh, how did I do this?” I think that Mia … wants to get there [so quickly], and then she’s so clumsy. 

Both Mia and Lucia have so many great looks throughout the season. Do you have a favorite?

I think the white dress, the one with the feathers when she’s with Valentina. I just loved it because at that point she became sort of a femme fatale, a very strong woman determined to get what she wants. It reminded me of a Marilyn Monroe world. She also sings "Happy Birthday,” so it reminded me of that world.

Let’s talk about your look for the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

What I loved about that look is that it tells a story of sensuality that I like because it’s not upfront. It’s reserved, but it’s there. So sometimes through the gap of the dress, you can see my leg, but sometimes, you don’t. I love this kind of way of telling a story of sensuality. But also, I loved it because it is, in my opinion, what Italian fashion is, what it always was. So it’s chic but minimal but very definite and very strong. It doesn’t need that much—it’s there. I tend to have a very soft energy, so something that makes me feel more strong, it was just perfect.

Was it one that you tried on and instantly knew "This is the one,” or did you try many options?

I tried many looks from many brands, but for some reason, my eye would always go back to that one because that dress was one that we tried, but it didn’t fit. It was the most complicated one, but I kept going back to it.

You had such cool hair and makeup. What was the inspiration behind your glam look? 

I think that we were going for more of a natural look for the makeup. And then for the hair, we wanted a wet look, which is something I’d never done before and was exciting. The glam team was so talented. Peter Gray did the hair, and it was so good. And also the makeup artist Karoline Karakeosian works with Valentino Beauty. With makeup, I don’t like to have too much on. I always love a natural look, but this was the idea to create a sort of wet effect.

What are some self-care rituals you do on the day of a big red carpet event to keep yourself calm and feeling your best self?

I don’t think I have a ritual because every time is different. But I definitely have a few things I like to do. I don’t like to have a night out before. I really like to have a moment for myself and not really have fun. I don’t want to have fun because of the butterflies in your stomach. You should take care of them. So I drink herbal tea, spend time with myself, and try to get bored a little bit. So that’s what I normally do. Listen to music.

This weekend, Zendaya graced us with not one but four drool-worthy looks from both the NAACP Image Awards and the SAG Awards. The queen is back, baby! Though Zendaya looked incredible all weekend long, we just can't stop thinking about her SAG Awards look. 

Zendaya showed up to the SAG Awards red carpet in a Valentino dress covered in roses. Not only did the pale-pink dress steal the show, but her petal-colored makeup look also took center stage. 

"We created a soft monochromatic look inspired by the silk roses in the gown," celebrity makeup artist Raoúl Alejandre shared in a press release. "Draping has been a staple in my beauty work for some time, but I went a step further to create a fresh take on my technique by working with iridescent and satin pastel tones to create a highlighted fresh look. This technique creates an inverted sculpted effect. I [paired] the romantic pastel eyes with a mod spikey top and bottom lash. The lip was also carefully thought out, and rather than going for a cool tone, we decided to clash and finish off the look with a neutral liner and a peachy-centered lip for warmth.”

Not many red carpet trends are easily translatable to everyday wear, but in the case of a particularly iconic '90s Jennifer Aniston outfit, it definitely can be done. At the height of her Friends fame, Aniston walked the SAG Awards red carpet wearing a slim-fit, keyhole-cutout gown. I've already been seeing keyhole cutouts everywhere in 2026, so it's safe to say the look is officially back. With the sultry slim fit of Aniston's red carpet OG, NBD's Stevie Gown ($124) is my favorite interpretation right now.

This year's SAG Awards, which have been renamed The Actor Awards, take place on Sunday, March 1, so I've been reminiscing about past fashion moments in anticipation. Amidst an award show and red carpet season that has largely been postponed, canceled, or virtual, we couldn't be more excited to get back into the *somewhat* traditional swing of things with this year's 2022 SAG Awards. And yes, just the sheer anticipation of the forthcoming (exceptionally drool-inducing) beauty and fashion moments have us chomping at the bit. 

Unlike most award shows, the SAG Awards doesn't have designated hosts (a tradition that will continue this year), but fear not, in addition to the glitz and glamour, there are definitely a few highlights and surprises in store. For instance, the show's opening will feature "Hamilton” stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Daveed Diggs, and Leslie Odom Jr. and five-time SAG Award winner Helen Mirren will be presented the SAG Life Achievement Award by Kate Winslet.

Personally, I'll be enjoying tonight's show by indulging in the most sodium-laced takeout I can find and a nice pour of wine whilst, of course, keeping track of every head-turning hair and makeup moment that occurs on the red carpet. All of a sudden, we feel a burning desire to wear diamonds à la Theron down our part the next time we go out on the town.

The Australian actress has been sweeping the red carpet scene lately with beachy waves, so this soft, swept-up style feels extra fresh. To complement, her makeup artist Pati Dubroff dusted light shades of taupe and gray on her eyelids and kept her lips a low-maintenance shade of nude. 

We don't see the actress sporting a super-bright lip often, but we're applauding this vibrant makeup combination and Witherspoon's edgy, blunt-cut lob.

Does Big Little Lies star Kathryn Newton have the best brows in all the land? Quite possibly. But we're also mesmerized by her lush, fluttery lashline and peachy nude pout. (A perfect compliment to that dress color.)

With the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice, and Producers Guild award shows already behind us, I think it's safe to say that award season is officially in full swing. We've already seen a few buzz-worthy celebrity looks grace the red carpet in 2019, meaning that this year's red carpet trends are being set as we speak. Last night, the red carpet was rolled out again for the Screen Actors Guild Awards—commonly known as the SAG Awards.

Sure, "Who are you wearing?" might be the most common question asked of celebrities as they make their way over the ruby red stretch, but we're just as curious (and perhaps a little obsessed with) what and who they're wearing on their lids, cheeks, and lips—not just their necks, bodies, and feet. Actress Lucy Boynton makes a moment out of a demure half ponytail (with a chic black ribbon, obviously) and head-turning liner placement. Plus, if you're like us, you'll be getting your hands on a tube of Victoria's Secret Major Lashes Full Volume Mascara ($14) ASAP. It's the exact formula makeup artist Jo Baker used on the actress.

We always anxiously Amy Adams's red carpet arrival. Here, she keeps the focus on her face (dramatic lashes and a flash of liner) with her romantic updo. 

Actress Sofia Hublitz's bold red lip and warm, sunset-washed lids are a bold departure from her character on Ozark. And frankly, we're obsessed. 

Sandra Oh may be nominated for her starring role in Killing Eve, but we'd say she's doing a pretty great job of killing her hair game too. Her pretty twirled bangs offer the perfect face-frame.

"I worked my STARRING Shooting Star Texture Meringue ($52) into Sandra’s dry hair and gave it a light blow dry to prep it for curling with an iron," explains celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson. "I used a larger barrel iron to then define her naturally curly texture."

Lady Gaga adorns her metallic-set eyelids with eye-brow grazing lashes, slicked platinum strands, and the most delicious of wine-stained lips. 

For her eyes, makeup artist Sarah Tanno used Marc Jacob Beauty's Eye-Conic Frost Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette ($49) (shades Eleganza and Hey Girl Hey) and a vampy combination of the brand's Poutliner Longwear Lip Liner Pencil in Currant Mood ($24), Le Marc Lip Crème Lipsticks in both Blow ($30) and Dashing ($30). 

Almost gothic in inspiration, Alison Brie's stark center part is a bold accent to her ink-rimmed eyes, long lashes, and a perfectly chosen peachy-nude pout. 

Sophia Bush typically wears her hair down or slicked back in a pin-tight bun or pony, so this pillowy updo (secured with a super-chic velvet headband, no less), is making our world go 'round. Her peach eye shadow and the bold liner along her lower lashline only add fuel to the fire. 

Actress Yara Shahidi never leaves us disappointed, and as soon as we saw her exit the limo with that Fendi dress, we knew she'd have an A+ beauty aesthetic to match. And yes, it literally did match. You either loathe it or love it, but we happen to love a major pink makeup moment. 

To accent the gorgeous and romantic draping of her dress, actress Laverne Cox kept her honey-hued highlights swept off her shoulders in braids and curls for a classic hair aesthetic. 

It may be subtle, but if you look closely you'll see the rose gold shimmer of shadow beneath and atop Emma Stone's upper and lower lashlines. A complementary shade of scarlet lipstick (it's Sisley Paris Le Phyto-Rouge Lipstick in Orange Sevilla $57!) keeps the impact grounded in addition to her signature red strands. We're officially entranced. 

To achieve her simple but beautiful updo, hairstylist Mara Roszak worked Suave's Firm Control Boosting Mousse ($3) through the actress's damp hair before blowing it out and using velcro rollers to add extra volume. 

Mandy Moore's cheekbones and pristine blush application look almost airbrushed, no? A satin, pretty pink pout and the smokiest of smoky eyes also caught our attention on the red carpet. Of course, it's also worth taking notes on her ultra-sleek strands, courtesy of both T3's SinglePass Luxe Flat Iron ($180) and a cult-classic—Tangle Teezer's Ultimate Detangler ($14). 

We may have lost our breath when we saw Susan Kelechi Watson's silhouette draped in bright yellow on the red carpet, but we may have actually fainted when we saw her green- and turquoise-adorned lid. We're all for big beauty risks on the red carpet, and here, the actress executes with a perfect 10. 

We don't see Elisabeth Moss take huge beauty risks often, but we're giving the actress major snaps for this teal liner look that offsets her buttery blond hair color with well-played drama. Looking to emulate her amazingly shiny strands? Hairstylist Sunnie Brooke used Biolage All-in-One Coconut Infusion Multi-Benefit Spray ($20) to achieve top-notch luster. 

You know a beauty look is amazing when you're not distracted by sparkling emerald earrings. Case in point: Samira Wiley. Not only do we want those lashes for our own selfish purposes next Friday night, but we also want to emulate the actress's stealthy dash of smoldering liner—with a hint of glitter—underneath said lashes. 

Ahhh, Margot Robbie. When it comes to flawless skin that looks like it's been touched by an angel, (oh, and always a shimmering lid), the actress just can't be beaten. 

Lupita Nyong'o, where do we even start? The actress's patent red lip? Bead-studded braids? Rose-hued sparkling liner? Slow. Clap. 

We're not sure what we're more obsessed with—Gemma Chan's perfect contour and highlight or her pretty swept-back bun. (Psst, Dove's beloved Care Between Washes Invisible Dry Shampoo $7 was a key styling player here!)

Danai Gurira exemplifies shining minimalism at its finest. Since her Ralph & Russo dress (and all those chest-hugging feathers!) rightly took center stage, the actress kept it simple but superb with a glossy nude lip, coats, and coats of mascara, and the most perfect of arches.

Oh, and to keep her strands locked in place, hairstylist Larry Sims used Biolage Curl Defining Styling Butter ($20). 

Sydelle Noel's burgundy lids, glowing skin, and goddess-like hair made our mouth drops instantly.

The process of selecting a perfect red carpet dress can be a major production for both the stylists and the stars themselves. For anyone who remembers watching The Rachel Zoe Project, you’ll understand why the often stressful process involves sifting through countless collections for many designers and attending fittings and alterations all in the hopes that the final product will be finished on time. This is the reality for pretty much everyone who walks down the red carpet. For this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, Olivia Munn broke away from the industry’s standard and instead found her dress just like every other shopper: through an online retailer.

Munn worked with Jessica Paster, a celebrity stylist who’s dressed many of the industry’s big names for the red carpet. After searching through countless dresses, they landed on this Oscar de la Renta gown listed on Farfetch. “What caught my eye was the gorgeous beaded and sequin leaf motif,” Paster explained to InStyle. “I always receive emails and direct messages on my social media from people asking, Where can I get this dress? It’s great to be able to say you can go to a store in town or even easier, websites—like Farfetch—and buy it now.” The kind of “see now buy now” mentality that’s ubiquitous to the online shopping world seems to be finding its way to the red carpet. Could this be a future trend among the Hollywood set? We’re betting it won’t be the last time.

It looks like Australian actresses Abbie Cornish and Yvonne Strahovski had the same outfit idea for the 2018 SAG Awards. White, long sleeve, Victorian-style lace dresses made them look like they could be sisters.

Their dresses were by no means unoriginal—we're taken by the intricate detail across both. Cornish's gown had black accents, while Strahovski's look was monochromatic. With long sleeves and lace detailing, however, the similarity between the Australian actress’ dresses may be more than coincidence. Perhaps their accidental matching is an indication of some of the trends coming our way in 2018. Time to invest in white lace, perhaps?

Gwenyth Paltrow announced her engagement to producer Brad Falchuk just several weeks ago with the couple gracing the cover of Goop Magazine to officially confirm the news. Last night we finally laid eyes on the stunning ring at the Producers Guild of America Awards when Paltrow presented Ryan Murphy with the Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television.

Not only did Paltrow debut her larger-than-life ring while honoring a longtime friend of her fiancé, but she looked gorgeous while doing so in a sleek red gown and her infamous glowy complexion. As for the ring itself? She showed off an eye-catching deep blue stone set in what appears to be a simply designed silver setting. Never one to disappoint, Margot Robbie just stepped out on the red carpet of the SAG Awards in one of the most unique red carpet dresses we’ve seen in a long time. Looking angelic in her white gown, it was the detailing on the dress that really put Robbie’s look one level above the rest (in our eyes anyway, maybe it's the Aussie pride?). Robbie's halter neckline gave us flashbacks to the early 2000's, reminding us how flattering this silhouette really is. In addition to the chic cut of the dress, the feather detailing at her waist put a modern twist on the classic shape. Reminiscent of the S/S 18 Saint Laurent collection, where we saw a plethora of feather detailing, the details on Margot’s dress keep it timely despite the retro neckline.

Tonight in Hollywood, stars are making winning appearances for the 24th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The night marks the first major industry event after the red carpet blackout just a couple of weeks earlier at the Golden Globes that won't soon be forgotten. Although the powerful effects of Time's Up and the choice to wear black remain present as ever, stars are returning to the red carpet in a variety of stunningly bold looks.

Tracee Ellis Ross left us speechless when she glided down the red carpet in an optic white look. With draping across the bodice, an asymmetrical slit, and a flowing train, these elegant details came together to compose this beautiful gown. The Black-ish actress completed the look with white pumps and a matching clutch, but it was her choice in jewelry—drop earrings in rich ruby with matching rings—that completed the radiant look. The actress is always one to watch for her impeccable style, and tonight only solidifies her reputation for bringing her style A-game.

With the Golden Globes a mere two weeks behind us, it’s hard to believe that the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards has arrived already. After the sartorial blackout at the Golden Globes in support of the #TimesUp movement against sexual harassment, the stars have proven that fashion does have the potential to open up conversation about a diverse set of social issues.

Kristen Bell, host of this year’s SAG awards, reported early on to ABC News that this year’s awards show would be “celebrating women”, and with a cast of all-female presenters, the tides seem like they’re finally beginning to turn. Not only did the presentation of the awards show itself speak to female empowerment, but many of the outfits on the red carpet did, too.

Far different from the somber but refined aura created by the black dresses at the Golden Globes, the SAG awards seemed to be adorned in feminine detailing. From Reese Witherspoon's bow-studded heels to a number of sparkly frocks, the outfits seen on the red carpet felt like fun representations of femininity. Though the sea of black dresses was undeniably powerful in calling attention to just how urgent women in this industry feel it is to address sexual assault, it was refreshing to see womanhood celebrated in the fashion choices here, putting a different spin on the movement.

With the Women’s March having occurred only yesterday around the world, it is no surprise that this sense of celebratory reclaiming of womanhood was carried on through to the awards show. And what better way to channel this excitement than through clothing? While in the past, red carpet looks were noticed primarily for aesthetic appreciation, the Golden Globes showed that an outfit can be more than the sum of its parts, adding a whole new element of appreciation for symbolism and representation in fashion choices.
