When I first heard that one of my favourite designers, Rejina Pyo, was collaborating with British high-street stalwart John Lewis, I thought Christmas had come early.

In case you're unfamiliar with the Rejina Pyo brand, let me enlighten you. Known for her timeless collections designed for the contemporary woman, Pyo draws inspiration from the worlds of art, food and culture to create timeless ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories that fuse modernity and elegance. Mention must also be made of her store in London’s Soho; it's a design haven full of curated antique decor, so if you're into interiors, it's a must-visit.

John Lewis, however, needs no introduction. One of the few enduring British department stores and a benchmark retailer for all things high-quality at the most reasonable prices, it has introduced a few exciting fashion collaborations over the years, including A.W.A.K.E. Mode and Collagerie.

It's rare to find a perfect synergy between a high-end designer and a high-street retailer, but this collection shows just how special and spot-on collaborations can be when done right, by truly bridging the gap between the aspirational and the affordable. Not only that, but given the reputations of both Rejina Pyo and John Lewis, shoppers can feel confident in investing knowing that no corners have been cut.

Hero items from the collection include a soft, butter-yellow-toned leather trench, a classic grey wool top coat, a timeless belted suit in a rich merlot-brown and, lastly, a copper-hued faux-fur teddy coat. Denim jeans also play a part, offered in rich blue and washed brown-black, as well as a nice stack of knitwear styles, some in cashmere blends for that ultra-soft feel. Shirts with eye-catching buttons, dresses with voluminous sleeves and a claret merino knitted top-and-midi-skirt set all come straight out of the classic Rejina Pyo playbook.

For finishing touches, find leather knee-high riding boots, luxe belts, satin kitten heels, envelope-style shoulder bags in burgundy and black, cosy wool snoods and mini bracelet bags in faux fur (to match the jacket), all finished with an exaggerated buckle motif, which gives a little bit of a Western flair and is a nice through line to bring the collection together.

This collection is made for autumn dressing; the colour palette draws from nature, tapping into the trending hues of now, such as butter yellow, slate grey, copper, khaki green and burgundy. I fell in love with the yellow trench, ultra-soft knitwear, faux-fur coat and denim, which are great options for elegant desk-to-dinner dressing.

Launching on Thursday, 9 October (today!), the 34-piece collection brings together a classic British aesthetic with Pyo's Korean modernity. Combining utilitarian city style with "feminine" countryside simplicity, this capsule collection is elevated and effortless, designed to be worn season after season. When sale season rolls around, it can be tempting to treat yourself to a new dress here or a fresh knit there, all with the added benefit of a discount. But the way we approach sale shopping is the same way we approach regular shopping. We never advise spending needlessly or without a strategy. While there are rare sale-shopping unicorns out there—pieces so amazing that you can justify buying them on a whim—we’ve found that if the item (be it a bag, coat, or pair of shoes) didn’t pique our interest when it was full-price, then we probably shouldn’t buy it just because it’s been reduced.

Instead, a hack all editors use is to scout the websites of our favourite brands before the sales even begin, identifying the pieces we’d love to own ahead of time. Whether based in London or across various parts of the globe, a common thread amongst all the designers is that they are continuing to dress up despite remaining at home. From flowing midi dresses to loose-fitting jeans, comfort is, of course, a priority, though their style and personal aesthetics have not wavered.

This might seem like a really odd statement to be writing on a fashion website, but I have to admit I miss handbags. Like a lot. Since London went into a full lockdown the last week of March, I haven't used a single one, and while I'm no Kylie Jenner (who has a closet full of Birkins), I do feel like my few treasured accessories deserve a day out. 

Back in early March—before the world started adhering to the rules of social distancing—the team here at Who What Wear took to the streets in order to trial summer's most coveted handbag trends. And if, like us, you too are missing your carryall, you are in for a treat. From Shrimps' beaded iterations to soft fabric styles courtesy of Rejina Pyo and The Row, this season is shaping up to be bold where handbags are concerned. Between mock croc and leopard print, floral patterns and lime-green shades, the bags of summer 2020 are supposed to make a statement. The Duchess of Sussex is in London this week for what many are calling her farewell royal tour, as Harry and Meghan officially end their royal duties on the last day of this month. Ahead of International Women's Day, on Friday Meghan visited Robert Clack Upper School in Dagenham to talk to students about gender equality. Meghan said of her visit: "For me, it was incredibly important to be with the women of our future. And that is all of the young women here, as well as the young men who play a very large part in this."

Meghan knows how her outfit choices can hold huge significance and convey a message, and so it's unsurprising that for this moment she decided to support an emerging British womenswear designer. The woman she turned to was Rejina Pyo, the Korean-born designer that has become one of the most exciting names on the London Fashion Week schedule. Meghan wore a cream blazer by British favourite ME+EM, cropped black trousers and Rejina Pyo's Nane Tote in an ivory open-knit fabric. The top-handle bag has a statement bow on the strap and has been a fashion favourite for several seasons now and comes in numerous playful prints and colours.

Loewe, a personal longtime favorite of mine, can also claim a top spot this season thanks to its rising search presence relative to other established luxury brands and high quantity of product clicks.

This should come as no surprise, as Gucci's re-rise to stardom since Alessandro Michele's 2015 appointment as creative director was one of the most noteworthy fashion comebacks of the decade. However, here's a fun fact for you: @whowhatwear's top-engaged post of the entire year was thanks to the brand's dressing of Harry Styles for the Met Gala back in May.

Since the reintroduction of Fendi's iconic Baguette bag earlier this year, we've not only seen the brand's street style and Instagram presence skyrocket, but its search volume and product clicks relative to other luxury brands on-site have followed suit and increased accordingly as well.

I probably don't need to tell you about "new Bottegas" literal explosion over the last six months, but to put the brand's rapid rise in popularity since Daniel Lee's appointment as creative director in to perspective, it ranked second in year-to-date luxury product clicks on our entire site (topped only by Chanel), and its on-site search also experienced the second-highest increase of a top-tier brand since the start of 2019.

Following Chanel and Bottega Veneta, the third highest-clicked luxury brand on our site was none other than Prada, and it's clear why. The reissuing of its iconic nylon accessories and RTW along with consistently trend-forward runways and collections makes the brand among our readers' (and editors') top choices.

On the Rise

While her eponymous label was only launched in 2014, London-based Rejina Pyo has already become a favorite with luxury buyers and shoppers. Thanks in part to the brand's presence on all our favorite e-tailers including Shopbop and Net-a-Porter, it's among the top-clicked on our site and ranks third in search increase since the beginning of the year.

Much like my own interest in the brand, Nanushka's stature continues to rise steadily. Quantifiably, the label ranks high in luxury product clicks and search volume increase, but all it really takes to know that its pieces are a hit is to simply scroll through your Instagram feed (or Who What Wear) and see what influencers, editors, and celebrities are wearing.

Since launching in 2006, The Row has quietly gone from insider secret to celebrity favorite in recent years thanks to its elevated (and high-quality) essentials and wildly successful accessories including its Coco mules, Bare leather sandals, Ascot bag, and Double-Circle bag. In terms of our audience, the numbers show that The Row is also among the top clicked and most increased in search.

It's easy to instantly spot Jacquemus's many mini bags all over Instagram and street style, but a trained eye can tell you that even the brand's less-identifiable ready-to-wear items have also taken over the fashion scene. In line with that observation, we've seen its products garner massive engagement on our Instagram, and its on-site search has continued to increase period over period. While Jacquemus didn't rank for product clicks, my guess is that it's because its biggest hits sell out before anyone can even promote them.

Never heard of Paris Texas? Now would be the time to bookmark the brand because from everything I can see, it's on the up-and-up. Plus, what better time of year to invest in a luxe and on-trend pair of mock-croc or snake-effect of boots than right at the start of fall?

After gaining Rihanna's stamp of approval (in addition to countless other celebrities and influencers), it's obvious why Amina Muaddi's photogenic and forward shoes are a hit among our Instagram followers and on-site shoppers. Still, it's always impressive to see such a young brand make such a major splash in the space.

Regardless of what year you came into this world, we can all learn a thing or two about style from our wiser fashion counterparts. These are the women who have lived to see generations worth of trends come and go and have spent the better half of a lifetime honing in on what they can now claim as a strong sense of personal style. Since this group of women offers a wealth of knowledge, I was curious to know what kind of style lessons they can teach the rest of us.

I spoke with a handful of the many chic older women I've taken to following on Instagram for style inspiration. Grece Ghanem is a 54-year-old from Montréal with a penchant for print-mixing and "old Céline." Lyn Slater, otherwise known as Accidental Icon, is a 65-year-old from New York whose career took off when she started blogging several years ago. Finally, Renata Jazdzyk is a 50-something living in Newcastle you've seen wearing all the buzzy street style looks. They each shared the fashion "mistakes" from their past, what they learned from them, and how they choose to dress instead now.

To be clear, I say the word mistakes lightly. We all make them, and I'm not here to shame anyone's sartorial choices but rather to celebrate and share the wisdom that only comes after taking the time to reflect on how you'd like to evolve your style. This kind of self-reflection doesn't necessarily require having decades of outfits to look back on (people of any age can vow to make better fashion habits at any point), but the years each of them has under their belt certainly gives more weight to the following advice.

"It happens rarely, but sometimes I will try something that deep down I know is not right for me, but I love the way the garment looks on the hanger, so I wear it anyway. I always end up looking uncomfortable. It impacts my mood and makes me feel anxious. So bottom line, if I do not feel 100% myself in it as much as I stare at it lovingly, I don't wear it. Mistake: Matching Every Accessory Perfectly

"Another mistake of mine was making sure that all my accessories were perfectly in the same colour, and I often wore too many of them at the same time. Scarf, belt, bag, shoes—they all had to match and be in the same colour, followed by my jewellery. Now I believe that less is better. Everything does not have to be perfectly matched at all times. Sometimes mixing colours and patterns can result in creating something unique and one-of-a-kind. Thanks to the various colours, our outfits become more interesting, more energetic and help us to look younger." — Renata Jazdzyk

Mistake: Wearing Clothes That Don't Fit Properly

"I used to wear wrinkled skirts (at the waist). As a result, optically they often made me look shorter, and they were not very flattering! I’m really pleased that these types of skirts are not in fashion anymore. "In the past, my wardrobe has been overwhelmingly full of clothes in only two colours: black and grey. I ruled out any other colours from my wardrobe. Welcome to Into Labels, a Who What Wear column that profiles the designers behind the brands we can't stop talking about.

Fashion designers will tell you: The hustle is hard and relentless to get a label off the ground and into the actual closets of women everywhere. Some forever remain more niche and under the radar, and then there are those who blow up seemingly overnight and end up on everyone's dream list. Rejina Pyo falls into the latter.

Sometime around 2016, her modern, strong-silhouetted pieces started popping up everywhere. Even we declared the London-based Korean designer as a new fan favorite (see: "The Fashion World Has Spoken: This Brand Is Going to Be Big"). While Pyo's label technically launched in 2014, by the time fashion got ahold of her anti-saccharine use of ruffles, charming button details, and those unapologetically puffy sleeves, it held on tight. In fact, Pyo says major retailers like Net-a-Porter, Browns Fashion, and Harvey Nichols all picked her up in the same season and continue to carry her new collections to this day.

But If you need further proof that the Rejina Pyo line has found a long-term home in our closets, just look to the designer herself. She explains her customer as a woman who's bold and nonconforming—in other words, someone we can all aspire to be. Read on for more about how Pyo launched her It brand into existence and what's next.

Firstly, how did you get your start in the fashion industry?

Studying at Central Saint Martins under Louise Wilson was an invaluable education and introduction to the industry. After graduation, I went on to work with Roksanda Ilinčić and Christopher Raeburn before launching the brand in 2014.

What made you finally go off on your own at that point?

Positive feedback from my graduate collection, winning the Han Nefkens Fashion Award, and a collaboration with H&M helped me build the courage to take the risk to create something of my own. There are so many growing pains, and the first few years were difficult, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

What was happening in fashion when you launched? What did you want to do differently?

Over the last few years, the pace of fashion trends has just continued to get faster and faster. I didn't want to create a brand that promotes quick trends, but rather I wanted to focus on building long-term relationships with customers and evolving with them over time.

How did you know the brand was truly headed for success?

I think the catalyst for the brand was really our S/S 17 season. We were picked up by major stockists like Net-a-Porter, Browns, Harvey Nichols, and Shopbop. The now-signature styles like the marigold Jamie dress and the silver Issy dress were worn by respected style influencers like Kate Foley and Leandra Medine and that brought us major exposure in the press and on social media.

The silhouettes of Rejina Pyo pieces feel so powerful and elegant. Do you have a specific woman you speak to with your designs?

I want to dress strong, intelligent, and creative women. I want my brand to speak to women who are confident in themselves and their sense of style. Women who live a passionate life. I think the Rejina Pyo woman can be any age and from any place. She is not defined by how others see her, she has fun interpreting the pieces her own way, and is more interested in taking risks rather than following trends.

What's been the biggest "I've made it" moment to date?

Being nominated for a British Fashion Award in the Emerging Designer category [in 2017] was an amazing honor and a magical experience.

What are some of biggest lessons you've learned in creating your own line?

The multifaceted aspects of running a brand as a business—it involves so much more than designing and making clothes. I am still learning something new every day. But I would have to say that one of the most valuable lessons I have learned is to follow my instincts. It can be challenging when lots of people are giving you different advice, so it's really important to listen to yourself and not lose sight of what you are trying to do.

Where else do you see your company growing in five (or 10 or 50) years?

I hope the Rejina Pyo brand will grow into a contemporary lifestyle brand for womenswear, menswear, accessories, and even homewares. It is exciting to think about the possibilities, but I want to make sure we take considered steps forward so that we grow in a responsible and thoughtful way.

And we hear you have plans for a unisex line?

I would love to be able to design for everyone, especially my husband and son! A unisex line is in the cards when the timing is right.

Looking through my wardrobe recently, I realised the vast majority of pieces I love and wear on a daily basis are made up of my favourite contemporary brands. Of course, I still save up to buy those key designer purchases, but they’re not the items I rely on day in and day out.

Contemporary brands, on the other hand, are the bread and butter of my daily wardrobe. They’re the pieces I pick out first thing every morning, no matter what season or city I’m in. Even during fashion month, when I’m travelling I often wear more statement, fashion-forward pieces, and I actually prefer to wear contemporary brands because they’re more under the radar. I love wearing pieces that feel like hidden gems.

Essentially, contemporary brands aren’t your big-ticket buys—they’re your stealth purchases, the ones people don’t necessarily know where you got them. They’re the ones that form your everyday functional wardrobe and are the answer to a perfect shopping fix.

Now our thoughts are turning to warmer months, I asked some of our favourite contemporary designers—from Ganni, Rixo and Staud to Rejina Pyo, Wandler and Yuzefi—to create a series of capsules just in time for the summer season ahead. One of the best parts about spring style is breaking out all manner of dresses, from minis to maxis and every length in between. If you're expecting, dresses are a comfortable, stylish option and, if chosen wisely, can extend their wear before, during, and after pregnancy. Bump-friendly buys like curve-hugging stretchy knits, empire-waisted silhouettes, and A-line styles go the distance and remain staples in any woman's wardrobe whether or not she's with child. (Also, we all know the notion one must shop in the maternity section when pregnant is antiquated, right?)

According to the brand's website, it is “built upon a philosophy that explores dressing as an everyday phenomenon, both mundane and extraordinary”. With a vision “to create modern, wearable pieces that encourage individual instincts”, Rejina Pyo is the embodiment of our April theme: Freestyle.

By amping up our old go-to's in unexpected ways, the brand is reminding us that fashion is fun. We should embrace the styles we love, no matter how quirky they may seem. In fact, we have a hunch that it’s this quirkiness factor in particular which has launched the brand into mainstream popularity. In incorporating interesting details into its designs, Rejina Pyo is creating memorable pieces unlike everything we’ve seen before—a notion too often underestimated in fashion.

While trends come and go, personal style is forever. Rather than fighting to fit into whatever “of the moment” styles may or may not suit us as individuals, we should all take a note from the brand and embrace what makes us different. During a season that’s known for bundling up in darker hues, an outfit filled with winter whites couldn’t be any chicer. But there’s one catch: Knowing how to properly wash your white clothes. After all, with dirty snow flying and hot drinks abound, you're always at risk of ruining your winter whites. With that, we enlisted the ladies of The Laundress—Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd—to guide you on the right steps to keeping your favorite cotton and linen pieces in pristine collection. Whether you’ve been wearing your favorite tee on the regular and you’re working to remove some unfavorable deodorant marks, or you want to remove that insanely tough oil stain, we’ve got you covered. Make sure you’re doing these simple steps and you’ll be wearing bright whites all year long.

Pretreat your clothes.

Whiting and Boyd recommend their Stain Solution and All-Purpose Bleach Alternative directly to affected areas of your clothes.

Use hot water, and scrub at the stains.

Using hot water to activate the solution, scrub at the stain. This way you’re working the solution into the fabric.

Presoak your clothes.

In a bath of hot water and the aforementioned All-Purpose Bleach Alternative, soak your items for at least one hour. Whiting and Boyd say it can sometimes take more than one try. “If the stain isn’t fully removed once the soaking is completed, don’t sweat it! It often it takes two to three tries before complete removal.”

Wash your clothes as normal.

Once you’ve gotten the stain out to your liking, wash your clothes as you normally would with detergent.

Shop Winter Whites

Sure, neutrals are an easy clothing choice that leave you feeling pretty "safe" about your outfit as soon as you leave the house, but what about the days when you're feeling courageous, confident, and daring? Well, that's a job for the reds, blues, and yellows of the world.

Bright is back in a big way this year. And seeing as the summer heat has really started to kick in (in Sydney at least), I'm finding myself pushing my black and darker clothing to the side. Not even my staple black denim jeans, nor my favourite sheer black top can sway me from my chosen path of any colour, every day. And I've noticed it's also particular shades that are resonating with my style—the bolder the better, so even pastel hues are having a hard time catching my attention.

If you're also looking to add more vibrancy into your summer wardrobe, I recommend starting small and with a shade that's guaranteed to suit your skin tone (follow the Who What Wear guide and you'll succeed every time). Once you've found the perfect colour, see it as your go-to next time you're shopping. And if all else fails, remember, pink suits every skin tone, and according to an expert, it is the most "flattering" hue on the colour wheel.

If you’ve ever spilled a glass of red wine, smudged your lipstick onto a white shirt, or thrown something red into a load of your sheets, it’s probably left a pink stain that seems impossible to remove. If you’re curious about how to get rid of them, there are some easy methods that will banish them for good. Ahead we’re breaking down how to get pink stains out of white clothes.

1. If the stain is due to makeup, try placing rubbing alcohol on the garment and blot with a cotton ball.

2. Take a cup of non-chlorine bleach or distilled vinegar, and combine it with your usual detergent. Then wash the stained clothing.

3. If this proves unsuccessful, soak the garments in oxygen-based bleach and cold water for approximately eight hours.

4. Repeat these steps until the stain disappears, and do not tumble dry your clothing until the stain is removed.
