Anointing the dress of the summer is by no means an easy task, nor one I take lightly as a fashion writer. However, after weeks of heatwave dressing, it’s become apparent that the must-have style this season is none other than Réalisation Par’s best-selling Cora dress.

The balmy label specialises in slinky, silk dresses rendered in magnetic prints and delicate cuts, from the ethereal rosette dress seen on Olivia Dean during her Italian sojourn to Sicily to the beloved sun-spotted halterneck mini owned by Lila Moss and Olivia Rodrigo. Still, for a brand that produces endless covetable creations, the Cora dress has reached new levels of fervour, piquing the interest of countless tastemakers and trend setters, including Camille Rowe and Apple Martin.

Launched back in March, the style originally launched to incredibly high demand, selling out within a few days of its release. Now, after a waitlist of close to 5,000 people and constant calls for a restock, it’s once again available to purchase. Naturally, as an inquisitive fashion writer who both adores this brand and is always documenting fashion trends to note, I was eager to try the dress for myself. Needless excitement it was not, with the commotion and praise over the piece instantly vindicated from the second I tried it on.

For reference, the dress is a bias-cut shape that gently drapes along the body. It’s cut close to the figure to accentuate every curve, from the plunging cowl neckline that can either be worn to gracefully expose the décolletage or hang asymmetrically off one shoulder. The bottom half of the dress is equally notable, too. Inspired by handkerchief skirts from the ‘90s, it’s pieced together with georgette panelling that draws the eyeline down the body. The style is semi-sheer, but it does come with a built-in slip that adds coverage where it’s needed, leaving the rest of the fabric light, airy and full of movement whilst ensuring you don’t feel exposed. I found the dress to be true to size, as I’m typically a size 10 and felt that the medium fit me perfectly.

However, the most appealing part of the dress is the print. Horizontal stripes are one of the most coveted motifs this season, and this dress delivers the trend in a way that feels sun-kissed and radiant. This is not only due to the fact that the colour palette is bright and blissful, but also that the pattern itself feels like washes of watercolour paint splashed across the body.

After trying it on in Réalisation Par’s Belgravia store, I was instantly enamoured with the style, knowing I’d immediately have to take it home with me. Since then, I’ve had no struggles in styling it or finding places to wear it. Originally intended as a more occasion-ready piece, the brand confirmed it was designed as a summer wedding guest dress that could suit “city ceremonies to sun-drenched receptions”, claiming it’s “the piece you reach for when the invite is open-ended and the night is young.” I’ve not yet worn it to any nuptials, but I did wear it the evening my fiancé proposed to me, so it’s safe to say that this dress certainly has the magic touch.

The only thought that crossed my mind is that, given how many people are lusting over the style, will it run the risk of becoming fatigued in my wardrobe? If you have the same fear of refusing to invest in it in case it becomes overexposed, I can assure you, especially as someone who has owned countless Réalisation Par dresses over the years, that each design is subversive and sensual in its own right, making them incredibly wearable without feeling repetitive, despite the unique print.

The Cora has quickly become my good time dress; the style I throw on to bring a high-octane touch to my ensembles or simply spark my serotonin, and I firmly believe that it will have the same effect on you. 2024's autumn/winter trends have been nothing short of excellent and that's coming from a person who is heavily attuned to anti-trend pieces. I've become increasingly impressed with how designers have hit the mark on nostalgic meets modern, in a way that has a timeless appeal. That's across the board, especially when it comes to dresses. Between whimsical ruffled and more is more adornments, many trends have been a throwback to vintage eras, albeit a tad more in keeping with 2024's modern-day essence and the sophisticated sartorialist, who exudes confidence and an unapologetic sense of self.

Trends from 2023 have carried forward, bringing with them weather-appropriate elements and deeper colourways, though there have been some wildcards. When I think of 2024's dress trends, I think of a Carrie Bradshaw-esque exuberance. Many trends are bold and encourage wearability for many occasions if you dare to wear your best for the most mundane jaunts.

There have been many trends to name. Style Notes: Due to the festive season, feather and fluffy adornments are a recurring trend every winter, but this year they've dominated in a major way. From fully feather-swathed minis to delicate feather trim, there's something for all.

It started with a rainy day in Los Angeles. Actor and writer Delaney Rowe was hanging out in her Echo Park apartment thinking about how she preferred rainy days over normal days because it meant she didn’t have to go outside. She cringed as soon as the thought entered her mind, but then, she had an epiphany. Maybe she had something here. The thought felt all too familiar, like a line from an indie movie where the female protagonist hasn’t been fully developed by the writers. Rowe set up her camera and launched into a monologue, riffing on the specific character trope. She filmed it in one take and posted it to TikTok. In a matter of hours, the video racked up millions of views, and fans flooded the comment section praising her uncanny performance. ("I would eat up this movie tho,” "Someone cast her!!!,” and "Oscar-worthy performance” were a few responses she received.) Rowe had a viral hit on her hands and a new recurring character that had everyone talking, including Hollywood insiders. It wasn’t long before she was landing on numerous "ones to watch” lists, such as Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood Impact List. So what’s next for the rising star? Going mainstream.

Rowe enters our Zoom chat wearing her signature Ciao Lucia Liliana sweater. I clock the piece right away. The oversize ivory cotton pullover with black stripes has, at this point, become a piece of iconography for the 28-year-old, appearing in many of her recent videos. Technically, the cozy knit is a newish replacement for an older, albeit similarly famous, striped sweater she stole from an ex-boyfriend. She might replace this one soon, too, but for now, it’s her go-to, often styled with a pair of boxers or sweatpants. She describes the look as her "house clothes.”

When it comes to fashion, Rowe lives between two extremes: pajamas until 5 p.m. and cocktail attire. "I don’t have hangout clothes,” she laughs. Her after-5 p.m. style, she tells me, is very ’90s. Think Gwyneth Paltrow in Great Expectations or a modern-day rock star’s girlfriend. "That’s what I always want to look like, like I’m dating Harry Styles,” she says. Long silky skirts, halter tops, and sleek dresses like the one she wore to the Streamy Awards last month are on repeat. A vintage connoisseur, she can be found scouring the racks at L.A. favorites Jet Rag and Mohawk General Store and occasionally perusing the latest from Reformation. "I go for something that feels a little old school but at the same time very timeless,” Rowe says.

Rowe has a similarly low-key approach to what she wears in her videos, hence the signature sweater. She’s found the lo-fi aesthetic really resonates with her 2.2 million-and-counting followers on TikTok. That and her signature brand of cringe-inducing, on-the-mark comedy. 

Rowe grew up in Boise, Idaho, and was a natural performer from a young age. She regularly participated in the Idaho Shakespeare Festival during the summer months and had dreams of attending Juilliard or NYU to become a theater actress. But the universe had other plans. "Nobody wanted me in New York,” she says self-deprecatingly. Begrudgingly, she changed course and applied to programs in Los Angeles, attending USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She eventually succumbed to L.A.’s charms and found her love for mainstream film and television. 

In typical working-actor form, Rowe spent a few years juggling auditions with a side gig as a private chef to pay the bills. But nothing was clicking. She was reading for a lot of the same leading-role types in young adult TV shows and films, but she wasn’t booking anything. "I watched Gossip Girl growing up, but when it came down to auditioning for those types of things, I was so not right for it,” she recalls. While her team saw her as an ingénue, she knew in her heart she was more of a comedian and would be better off as the weird best friend. "It’s so my instinct to be making things a little more unusual and a little more comedy-centric, so going into these auditions, I’m riffing, and I’m improving and doing a stand-up set, and they’re like, ‘Can you stick to the script?’” Rowe says. She eventually parted ways with her team and started making her own content to show people that she could be funny.

Rowe soon found her niche on TikTok, steadily building a loyal fan base with incredibly accurate situational humor and POV skits. Each video plays out like an audition self-tape with her writing and acting chops on full display. Recurring characters, like the aforementioned insufferable female lead and the girl who’s convinced you’re obsessed with her, quickly took off. Fans may be quick to draw parallels, but Rowe promises she isn’t going after specific projects, writers, or actors. "By the way, I love these movies that I make fun of,” she says. "I love this archetype. I think it’s so fantastic, and it’s almost my homage to it rather than a parody.”

It may seem ironic that the characters Rowe has gained notoriety for masterfully portraying are the same ingénue types she wasn’t booking in Hollywood casting rooms, but that’s kind of the point. Rowe is doing them well as satire. Not to mention, she has a lot of experience with the material. "People are like, ‘Why is this so accurate? Why is the writing so spot-on?’ I’ve been reading sides for these kinds of shows for 10 years. I know how these scenes go,” she says.

Rowe is an impressive one-woman show, writing, performing, and editing all of her own content. She occasionally films with her assistant but describes herself as "the most private, solo, lonely worker ever.” The process isn’t without its ups and downs either. Once she uploads a video, the emotional roller coaster begins. She’ll obsessively check how it’s performing for the first 10 minutes. (It’s at the 10-minute mark when she can really gauge how successful a video is going to be.) After the first 10 minutes, she doesn’t look at it again for exactly one hour—down to the minute. At that point, she’ll go back in and respond to comments and then will leave it for the rest of the day. "It’s funny. When a video is doing well, you just feel like, ‘I’m never gonna die!’ And then when it’s not doing well, you’re like, ‘I need to start applying for other jobs. I need to get a LinkedIn now,’” she says.

All the hard work and mental gymnastics are not for nothing. Following the success of her content, Rowe signed with a new talent team that appreciates her for exactly who she is, "They were like, ‘You’re going to be you, and that’s your ticket into the industry,’” she says. She has also connected with producers, writers, and actors who are fans of her work. Perhaps most notably, one of her comedic idols, Seth Rogen, started following her on social media. "That was crazy for me because I really am self-conscious about all my work and am self-conscious about my humor,” she says. "I don’t necessarily even think I’m funny. To have somebody else like that follow me and validate me in that was really huge.” 

But TikTok is just the tip of the iceberg for Rowe. She’s currently writing a book—a collection of essays based on personal experiences, like the one time she formed a relationship with a guy over one long weekend. It’s a different type of writing process that has been fulfilling for Rowe, especially since it’s not about getting a million views on the internet. There’s also her acting career. Earlier this year, she starred in her first feature, The List, with her sights set on doing more film and television. The ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have stalled things for the moment, but when that ends, she plans to dive back in full force.

For now, though, she’s looking forward to relaxing a bit and having a more meaningful personal life, which in recent years has taken a back seat to her work. For the first time in a long time, she’s ready to have her relationships take priority. "Maybe not ahead of my work, but at least right up there,” she says with a smirk. "I think it’s so funny when people ask you about your future. Everybody only answers with work goals, but I just think about it holistically. When your romantic life or friendship life is going really well, I think it makes everything better.”

Lucky for us superfans, Rowe’s always got something intriguing up her sleeve, a fresh story to write, a new viral character just around the corner.

Thankfully, I've got plenty of options to make that dream happen.

Who's ready for spring? As I write this, I'm in a sweatshirt and jeans, but I've had my eye on a handful of spring trends for months already. Everyone's favorite Australian brand, Réalisation, just released its new holiday collection, and yes, it's even better than we could have imagined. After everyone purchased and posted (on Instagram) the famous Naomi Skirt in leopard print, we weren't quite sure how many other cult items the It-girl brand could come up with, but sure enough, it dropped a whole collection that surpassed our expectations.

This new holiday collection was shot in Hawaii, playing off this concept of the brand being a "cult" label. "We wanted to showcase more of what Réalisation is about: friends being mischievous, being barefoot, being seductive, being a gang, being away together, and being free," a brand representative from Réalisation told us. "We wanted to release new pieces this time of year to align with the 'resort' and 'party' collections, which are popular during this season. Everything, in true Réalisation style, is designed so it can be dressed up or down to take you from the bar to the beach."

While everything we've seen so far (word on the street is the brand is releasing more product this month) is great, it's the four dresses we are fairly certain are about to blow up. Looking chic while travelling is an art form. Packing the right pieces is one half of the struggle, but once you've nailed that, looking put-together in your perfectly planned outfits is another feat in itself. When you've got a different climate to worry about, fancy dinners booked in, and locals to try and impress, the last thing you want is to feel less than polished with creased or crumpled clothing. That's where my number one travel item comes in: A mini spray bottle.

I discovered this little-known trick while on a work trip in Melbourne. I had a fancy dinner to attend, and had brought a black silk slip dress for the occasion. But when I unpacked it from my suitcase, it was looking way too creased for wear. So, I improvised with the below method, and thankfully, it worked. Since then, I've been on a two-week trip to New York City and used this technique almost every day to get wrinkles out of my hastily-packed clothing.

Here's exactly how to get creases out of clothes when travelling (when there's no steamer or iron in sight):

1. Fill a travel-size spray bottle with water
2. Hang your clothing, and give it a light spritz all over.
3. Pull the fabric taut, and wait a couple of minutes for it to dry.

This technique worked best on my silk dresses, but also worked on my boyfriend's cotton shirts, too. The spray bottle I used was an old pillow spray one, but you can pick them up at a chemist or supermarket for a couple of dollars. Shop one below, and keep scrolling to see my go-to travel dresses.

Global fashion search platform Lyst has just released its annual Year in Fashion Report, revealing the most powerful fashion trends, influencers, designers, and products of the year. The report is based on global search data and social media mentions, and when you take a closer look it reflects exactly what you've seen all over your social feeds this year.

Maybe it's just me, but seeing an item on everyone in my Instagram feed typically deters me from buying it a little—no matter how covetable the item in question may be. Such was the case with the Insta-famous Christy dress from It-girl brand Réalisation. Since its launch in 2015, this dress has been worn in solid and printed versions by everyone and their mom, literally. I'll admit it was love at first sight for me too, but seeing it blow up on social media so fast made me second-guess hitting that "Place Order" button.

Fast-forward many months, and after seeing its cool square neckline and flattering shape worn by so many dream girls, I finally succumbed to my desires and ordered the tiny dress for myself. Well, let me tell you: My only regret is that I waited so long to do so. There aren't enough words in the English language to convey how perfect the fit of this dress is—it's 100% worth the hype. The same day it arrived, I wore the '90s-style dress with an oversize black denim jacket and ankle boots for date night. I know I’m not alone here… You know when you find something you truly love, it comes in several colors, and you stock up on as many colors as your bank account allows? I started with the cherry print, wearing it so much and feeling so confident in it I ultimately added a couple more prints to my collection: the all-black style as a classic LBD and then also the tiger-print mini for a playful on-trend option.

As far as iconic fashion moments go, Sex and the City serves them up in spades. From Carrie's fur coat to her embellished mules, we're still looking to the fictional character to inspire our own wardrobes. But there are few outfits that stand out more than that newspaper dress.

SATC die-hards will remember the slinky bias cut number from season three of the series (episode 17, for those wanting to rewatch), when Carrie asks for Natasha's forgiveness after sleeping with her then-husband Big. Styled with her equally iconic namesake necklace and big hair, it was a moment. What Carrie had done was scandalous, and the dress encapsulated that. It then appeared again in the arguably less iconic 2010 film Sex and the City 2 (pictured below), but it's reappearance is testament to its enduring appeal.

Designed by John Galliano for Christian Dior in 2000, the dress has become synonymous with Carrie's character. So when we saw the look re-imagined by one of our favourite brands, Réalisation Par, we were excited to say the least. The dress has been updated for 2018 with a pink hue, puffed sleeve and a sweetheart neckline. The "Christian Dior Daily" text has also been swapped out to "The Réalisation Times" in a cute play on the original. 

The dress has sold out multiple times, but is currently back in stock. It's the perfect look for taking on the big city, grabbing a Cosmopolitan and seeing where the night takes you (scandals optional). If you're someone who follows celebrity style (like yours truly), you're probably aware that they love any Réalisation dress that comes their way, but sometimes one comes along that's so special that it immediately rises to It-dress status. Emily Ratajkowski is one of the aforementioned celebs who wear the Aussie brand on repeat, and she wears it well. She stepped out recently in one of its brand-new styles: The Devon Dress. The milkmaid-esque dress is covered in daisies and it reaches maximum effectiveness when paired with white sneakers, as EmRata expertly proved.

It dresses don't often reach the craze-level status that, say, It shoes or bags do, but Réalisation is definitely the exception. (Reminder that the brand is also responsible for that leopard-print slip skirt that's the hottest item of summer 2018.) Ratajkowski's flattering, pretty minidress is fun, happy, Instagram-worthy, celeb-approved, and looks great with sneakers. Sounds like an It dress to me.

Along with everyone else, I have talked extensively about that Insta-famous Réalisation leopard-print slip skirt this summer. It may seem like everyone has it, but based on how quickly it's sold out each of the three times the brand has stocked it, everyone is probably an exaggeration—for now. Just when I thought that nothing could match the popularity of the skirt, Réalisation went and released a new version of it, and it's even more '90s-inspired.

On Sunday night, an email popped up in my inbox announcing the release of the Naomi skirt in Flower Power, the same silky midi-length style but this time emblazoned with playful daisies. Needless to say, I stopped what I was doing to order it, and when I went back to look at it out of curiosity the next morning, it was 100% sold out… and I'm 100% glad that I ordered it as quickly as I did.

In the matter of a year, there’s one brand I wear more than any other: Réalisation Par. Chances are the Australian clothing brand has popped up on your social media feeds before. And if you follow my Instagram, you’ve likely noticed that I often post photos wearing pieces from the label. The reason is simple: I just feel great when I’m wearing its clothes, so they’re always, always a part of my weekend or travel outfits.

It has a range of easy tops and dresses that fit perfectly into my L.A. lifestyle. Before Instagram brands were even really a thing, there was one that paved the way for so many other brands to perfect their "Insta aesthetic" and rack up the followers. That brand is Réalisation Par and its bevy of Dreamgirls who wear its flirty silk dresses on repeat. While it's an Aussie-based brand founded by Alexandra Spencer and Teale Talbot, it's continued to gain in popularity among the L.A. set and in other cities around the world. But in fact, given the influential powers of French girls, they have actually played a large part in putting the brand on the map. Especially this time of year, you'll frequently see them wearing the brand's dresses, tops, and skirts in their current vacation locale. Why? The prints are perfection and the styles are flattering and lightweight. (Plus, they look lovely with espadrilles.)

Taking all that into consideration, there's yet another reason to love the brand. Harper's Bazaar UK just received intel from luxury resale site Vestiaire Collective that Réalisation Par is "a 'sell-out brand' whose dresses are typically bought within one day of being posted online." The site also said, "If the dress is in a good condition, it can usually be sold for at least the retail price if not more."
