All summer long, we've been going on and on about beaded sandals, but what if I were to tell you that it was all to prime you for the main event: fall 2026's most anticipated shoe trend. It all started at Tory Burch's S/S 26 show in New York way back in September of 2025. Inside a Brooklyn bank, the designer sent a slew of elegant ensembles (with a twist) down the runway, many with beaded kitten heels to complete the looks. We all zeroed in on them, but no one really talked about them beyond the immediate social posts that went live following the show. It wasn't until recently, when they arrived on the brand's new-arrivals page, that the buzz around them kicked back up. Now, they're almost completely sold out.

In the period between that show and the shoes reemerging, a slew of similar beaded pumps debuted, further driving attention for the elevated alternative to beaded sandals. At Prada's F/W 26 show, beaded pumps and boots were the talk of Milan Fashion Week, showing up in bold color options—like pink, red, and chartreuse—and featuring other details, like dyed feathers. Tory Burch continued the trend by including an updated version of its S/S 26 pairs in its resort 27 collection. Dior's recent couture show, which debuted in July, likewise showcased beaded footwear by the house's esteemed shoe designer, Nina Christen. (You might recognize her name from her namesake brand, Christen, a favorite among industry fashion people.) Paris-based shoe and accessories brand CeeCee also got involved, designing beaded slingbacks in a cool, playful multicolor style.

When Matthieu Blazy's second haute couture show for Chanel also included a pair of embellished, beaded pumps featuring a black dipped toe and a metallic heel, the whimsical shoe trend's fate was set in stone. Boring, basic footwear is officially being put on pause by fashion people everywhere. Instead, they're preparing for the beaded heels that will soon cause lines to form outside every major fashion house's boutiques.

There are a few key spring and summer events that help our editors keep an eye out for inspiration and trends, runways, of course, red carpets, after-parties and The Met Gala.

This year Hunter Schafer wore one of our team's favourite red carpet looks of the night, which was a custom Prada gown inspired by Gustav Klimt's "Mäda Primavesi." This summer, sunglasses aren't finishing the outfit—they're becoming the outfit.

Across the spring/summer 2026 runways, maisons in Paris and New York seemed to arrive at the same conclusion: If you're going to wear sunglasses, they may as well take up half your face. Balenciaga treated sunglasses like futuristic armor, while Celine revived the bug-eye silhouette with a distinctly Jackie O energy. Collectively, the message was impossible to miss: Fashion wants its sunglasses to be loud again.

There's something undeniably appealing about eyewear that refuses to blend in. In an era dominated by personal style, statement dressing, and images designed to stop a scroll, freaky sunglasses offer instant impact. If the tiny sunglasses trend of the late 2010s was about having an air of nonchalance, today's bug-eyed supersize frames are about declaring presence. Look in my closet, and you'll probably notice that there's one color that appears more than any other—in a disproportionate amount. For years, I've loved wearing black—so much so that I rarely wear color. I recently wrote an entire article about how I wear black even in 90-degree weather.

You know it's almost summer when the photos of models on yachts in Europe start to pop up. ICYMI, we're in the midst of the 79th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Celebs are flying to the South of France and flooding the red carpet, and Bella Hadid is no exception. On Sunday, May 17, she attended the screening of Garance, wearing a custom Prada dress and dazzling Chopard jewelry. She looked stunning in the highly sophisticated, Old Hollywood glamour we expect to see on the revered Cannes carpet.

The fashion was incredible. However, as a beauty editor, I couldn't help but focus on Hadid's matching makeup look. It was silvery, shimmery, luminous, and created entirely with Prada Beauty products. (No surprise there, Hadid is the brand's Global Beauty Ambassador.) "Bella wanted her glam to sparkle, complementing her dress," says celebrity makeup artist Nadia Tayeh. "We created a silver shimmery eye with black liner to enhance the eyes, paired with glowing skin and a neutral glossy lip for a luminous finish." Ahead, see the exact products she used.

Prada is one designer brand that doesn't miss when it comes to chic new bags. Take its Route handbag, for example. This silhouette just dropped, and it's already on the arms of fashion people in Paris and NYC. But we can't forget about the semi-new style that has quietly but quickly gained a cult following: the Bonnie.

This east-west silhouette, with slim buckle details and two long handles, debuted in the brand's spring 2024 collection and has since become an It-girl favorite, loved for its blend of function and style. It was first spotted on Bella Hadid, who wore the extra-large style, and on Sarah Pidgeon, who wore the medium size, both in Milan. Later, Selena Gomez was photographed in L.A. in the extra-large style. A few weeks afterward, Hadid appeared in the large suede version, solidifying the Bonnie as a go-to.

"I've got, like, eight layers of blush on right now," Maude Apatow tells me from her New York apartment. The actor, director, and Who What Wear May cover star just returned from Prada Beauty's weekend pop-up at the Gansevoort Plaza, the last stop on its multicity Prada Touch Tour, and from the Zoom screen, I can see her drawstring bag and black jacket strewn across the crisply made bed—the only evidence of haste in the bright, airy space. A single flower suns on the windowsill, and Apatow's swooping bob is as sleek as ever, not a flyaway to be seen. That said, her cheekbones do appear quite rosy, either flushed from rushing home or, as I come to find out, rouged to the gods after a few hours of finger painting. Prada dubbed it the Touch blush for a reason, after all.

While eight layers is admittedly a bit much for her everyday glam, Apatow does sometimes sandwich a couple of blush shades for more dimension. "I'll apply a deeper one on the apples of my cheeks and then do a lighter shade going up [the cheekbones]. That's only if I'm really getting fancy with it," she says. At present, she's wearing Prada Beauty's Waterlily, a bright fuchsia, and Tulip, a soft baby pink. Usually, however, she taps on one bubblegum blush and calls it a day. "I gravitate toward a bright pink, but I also love a good dusty rose or bronzier, deeper blush," she says. "I always apply with my fingers. I feel like I get much more control. I start on the apples of my cheeks and then just move my way up—but nothing too high. I will attempt a snatched moment, but it never looks as good as it does when other people do it."

Blush is nonnegotiable for everyday glam, but when I ask about her favorite feature to enhance, her attention shifts north to her wide, round eyes. "I remember putting on mascara for a Halloween costume and my mom making me look down as she put [it] on," she recounts, laughing. "I think I was the bride of Frankenstein. … I was like, 'Whoa, I look amazing.'" Today, mascara remains a beauty-bag staple for her top and bottom lashes (polarizing!) to open up her orbs as much as possible. "I like a deep brown," she says in terms of shades. "There's a Prada deep-brown mascara that I've been using. It's almost black. If you have brown eyes, it looks pretty."

You'll, of course, find plenty of stunning eye looks on Euphoria, but Apatow tells me that her character Lexi Howard would rather wear a strong lip than extra-fluttery lashes. "Tara Lang, who I work with on Euphoria, and I always try to do a lip with Lexi," she notes. "That's Lexi's signature look over the years that we've shot the show." As it turns out, that's also Apatow's own hallmark. "I love a red lip. That's my favorite going-out look," she adds. (And she wears it well! Just look at the dark-red lipstick she donned to the Chloé after-party during Paris Fashion Week.)

When she's not donning a red lip, though, she's swiping on nothing but a buttery tinted lip balm. "Wait, let me get it! It's right here," she offers before rummaging through her bag for her favorite Prada number. "It goes on really sheer, so it's not too intense," she says, uncapping the mauve-brown pigment.

Unless she's headed to an event or, you know, filming blush-focused press materials, Apatow keeps her base rather minimal, opting for just a bit of concealer to cover up precise areas. "I try not to wear too much makeup every day just because I want to give my skin a chance to breathe," she says. "A little goes a long way, especially with foundation. I went through a phase where I had really thick, dark brows and a ton of foundation and bronzer. I look back at photos and think that was probably not the right call."

Relatable—the overdrawn "Instagram brows" of 2016 spared no one, but they're arguably healthier than the tweezer-happy era that afflicted the '90s. "[My mom's] eyebrows never grew back. She's like, 'Don't do what I did,'" Apatow shares. "But I also have really thick eyebrows, so sometimes, they need to be plucked." There's a fine line, much like the balance between a healthy, vibrant flush and full-on blush blindness. Although, considering how Apatow's skin radiates from my computer screen, I wonder if there's something to be said about this eight-layer-blush thing. Who knows? She just might have unwittingly kicked off a hot summer makeup trend.

When I was in elementary school, I faked an eye exam because I really wanted glasses. Less than a week later, I admitted I couldn't actually see through the cute Coach frames I'd picked out (they had little hearts on the sides), and we quickly returned them. In the wake of the fall/winter 2026 runway season, I spent hours looking at practically every single look that walked, zooming in on things like scarves tied in every way possible, dramatic jewelry, big belts, and—most of all—shoes. Suffice to say, designers proved one thing to be true this season: "something blue" shouldn't be boxed into the wedding category. At least when it comes to footwear, a hint of the color can be added to just about any outfit for any occasion, styled with matching leather pants (Chloé), a tweed skirt suit (Chanel), or a slim-fitting tailored coat (Prada). Sure, blue shoes might not be as "easy" to style as a black or brown pair, but what's the fun in that? In the modern world, sports aren't just about what happens on the court, field, or track. Much of the buzz around athletes actually takes place before their events—that is, when they arrive at their respective venues and showcase their latest fashion creations. In basketball, that's referred to as a tunnel 'fit; in Formula One, a paddock 'fit; and so on. What athletes wear when they're not in uniform matters, especially to fans who might never get to speak to their heroes. Clothes are the perfect form of communication—a window into who your favorite athlete is and what they stand for. That's what Go Sports is all about. Last season, when Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers took the Oklahoma City Thunder to Game 7 of the NBA Finals, a piece of basketball legend was written in the history books, but not for the reason you might think. The latter franchise ended up taking home the trophy, hosting a parade, and earning the right to call themselves NBA Champions, but it was the Pacers who made magic happen throughout their playoff run, writing an underdog story for the ages that will go down as one of the best examples of determination, grit, and "we before me" mentality in all of sport. Then the worst-case scenario happened. With 4:55 left in the first quarter, following three successful three-pointers, Haliburton, the Pacers' star point guard, went down, tearing his right Achilles tendon following a strain in the same leg from Game 5 of the series. His teammates fought, but without his leadership and clutch abilities, the Thunder prevailed, winning 103 to 91.

As a Pacers fan (something I probably shouldn't admit out loud given where I live), I was devastated. We were all devastated. In the months since, watching the NBA hasn't been the same, at least not for me. I still watch and cheer on my team, but not having Haliburton's magic on the floor takes away from the excitement. There is one saving grace, though, especially for someone who is just as invested in the on-court action as what happens outside of the lines on the sidelines and in the tunnel. Yes, I'm talking about clothes, and no one does them better in the NBA than Haliburton.

The 2026 season is coming to a close pretty soon, and the Pacers have struggled this year following several player injuries, including Haliburton's. I've caught most of their games, which will total 82 by the end of the regular season. The point guard has been at a majority of them, and almost always, he has on a 'fit. When many think of style in the NBA, it's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who comes to mind first, and for good reason. But the Oklahoma City Thunder guard isn't the only well-dressed player. In fact, most players in the league have shown at least some level of interest in fashion, but for me, Haliburton will always take that number one spot, even on the sidelines, where he sits, stands, and cheers for the team that was minutes away from doing what practically every commentator in sports thought was impossible in 2025.

What he's worn while doing so has been the highlight of the season for me, keeping me entertained even in tough games. "Gram gon have to see a lot of fits this year," he wrote on Instagram back in November 2025, shortly after the 2026 season kicked off, alongside a slideshow of the outfits he'd already debuted. Think a grandpa sweater in a pastel shade layered over a shirt and tie and sport coats à la a liberal arts professor paired with denim and vintage Prada loafers. Later in the season, more recent sideline ensembles were posted to his grid. Highlights? A leather bomber jacket styled with a plaid tie, light-wash jeans, and The Row's viral eel-leather loafers; a Carhartt Canadian tuxedo styled with sand-colored suede Dr. Martens; and camouflage pants styled with his signature Puma basketball shoes in baby pink.

These sophisticated ensembles all stemmed from a new partnership with stylist Kiarra Logan (@kiarralooks on Instagram), whom he met through his fiancé, Jade Jones. (Logan had met Jones when Haliburton joined the Pacers, having styled one of the other players included in the trade.) "I look at working with Tyrese as a collaborative effort," Logan tells Who What Wear. "He's very knowledgeable in fashion, knows what he likes, and is true to himself." Many of the looks they created together for his sideline 'fits weren't purchased—the pieces already lived in his wardrobe, including the aforementioned The Row eel loafers and colorful ties. "The bones [were] there of who he is," she says of his closet when they first teamed up. Styling him just came down to putting it all together.

"The pink cardigan look was really crazy because it came together at the last minute," Logan says. According to her, it was the first game of the season, and the two were FaceTiming, trying to figure out what direction they should go in. He wanted to wear a pair of brown trousers, leading Logan to pull out a pink cardigan. "He had one, and we just so happened to have a pink tie too, so I was like, 'No, we need to do this monochromatic pink-on-pink [look].' I was like, 'Tyrese, if anyone can do this pink, it'll be you,'" she says. It was far from anything we usually spot players wearing to games, but that's what made it so impactful—and controversial. "It was one of those things where people either loved it or hated it," she says. Her son even copied it for his Halloween costume.

Another winning moment came with the brown leather bomber outfit that Logan dressed Haliburton in later on in the season. "That will be a forever memory of me as a stylist," she says. According to her, the day he wore it, he had no concept in mind for what he wanted to wear. "I think he was over getting dressed," she says. It was one of those times when she had to take over completely, which worked out because she already had a good idea for a look. "I was like, 'I randomly have this vision for you in a bomber and a tie,'' she recalls telling her client. "I couldn't explain it," she says, so she just started putting pieces together, starting with a pair of light-wash jeans. "I wanted to do a '90s Saint Laurent vibe," she explains. "When we were putting it together, he was like, 'I don't know where this is going, but I'm going to trust you—let's put it all on.' He got it on, and was like, 'Oh shit, this is a vibe.'"

"I felt like that outfit was probably the closest embodiment of [Haliburton's] organic style, especially the way he flipped the hat backwards," she says. For shoes, she knew it needed to be a thin loafer—not a chunky one—to keep it from feeling costume-y. "Obviously, those were the Row eel loafers—he had those in his closet."

A lot of those pieces in Haliburton's wardrobe came from his work with his past stylist, designer Olivier Rogers. The two joined forces earlier in Haliburton's career, after the guard actively decided to shift his style. "I used to be like every other player in the NBA, wearing sneakers to every game with a graphic tee and some colored jeans, and call it a day," the Iowa State University alum told GQ in a TikTok video about his style from 2024. "I realized that I wanted to switch my style up and be a little different to everybody." Rogers had a similar goal for their partnership. "I want him to be the NBA player that, when people see him, they don't think [of the] NBA," Rogers told GQ during the Pacers' run to the Finals last year. Very rarely did Rogers put Haliburton in something covered in logos or obvious branding, and he introduced his client to cool brands that are seldom spotted in the tunnel. The Row comes to mind. "I actually like to put him in a lot of things that I like, like that Margaux bag and more tasteful things," Rogers continued to GQ. "I know nine out of 10 NBA players don't know what that Margaux is." His work with Haliburton resulted in the player really figuring out what his style looked like and where his tastes lie. Together, they filled his closet with elite pieces that Logan is now working with (and getting tailored to perfection, she tells me) to create his memorable sideline outfits week in and week out.

If you ask me, his sideline outfits have been the best thing about the NBA this season, setting the bar high, but he's never been one to shy away from a challenge. I'll be counting down the days until that first 'fit debuts—and keeping an eye out for some sneaky sightings at Indiana Fever games once the WNBA season kicks off in May. Now that the style set has packed up their things and headed to Paris to close out fashion month, let's sit down and discuss everything we just saw from the Milan Fashion Week F/W 26 shows—specifically, the top trends to know.

Collar Pop

The funnel-neck outerwear trend continues to develop, and designers put their stake in the ground as to where the trend will progress in 2026. While full-on funnel-necks are still as chic as ever, the fall collections indicated that soon all the chicest people you know will be wearing their jackets, coats, and blazers with the collars flipped up to create a sort of effortless, DIY-style high neckline.

Louche Layering

If the spring 2025 shows were all about preppy style and prim-and-proper layers, the fall shows took that idea and lived in it a little bit longer. The result is a series of ideas on layering that's much more relaxed, down-to-earth, and, well, how the busy women wearing these looks really get dressed.

Royalty

No need for Pantone—the Milan shows were resolute in their color predictions for fall. The consensus? It's all about purple, specifically this deep violet shade that's often referred to as royal purple. The richer the tone, the easier it becomes to wear, as it's akin to burgundy and therefore ripe for becoming your new fall staple color.

The Skinny on Pants

Designers have teased us with the return of skinny pants for the past few seasons. Although, what's happening on the street in any fashion capital right now tells a different story. But skinny-pant silhouettes seemed to dominate the runways in Milan this week, which has us questioning whether the tides will actually be turning sooner than later. Looks featured trousers that toed the line between pants and leggings (and even tights), and many were styled with boxy blazers and roomy coats to give the overall silhouette a sense of balance.

Low-Pile Fur

While maximalist fur has been a headline of winter style this year, designers are presenting the next gen of fur outerwear for 2026, and instead of bold statement pieces, it's all about a more discreet take on the texture with low-pile fur and calf-hair coats taking center stage.

Sciura Glam

In Milanese slang, the term sciura refers to a specific breed of older woman who can always be spotted dressed to the nines with no detail spared about her outfit. It's such a phenomenon that the Instagram account @sciuraglam documenting these stylish ladies has amassed over 400K followers. Clearly, they were on the minds of Italian designers this season, as calling cards of sciura style can be spotted throughout the fall collections, whether through a statement-coat-and-matching-hat moment or a pair of socks layered with polished pumps. In essence, we'll all be dressing like a fabulous nonna come fall.

Oxford Circus

Is this the death knell to ballet flats? There's no question that flat shoes will continue to remain on top, but as far as fall 2026 is concerned, derby shoes are set to be the It style to know. Designers including Bottega Veneta, Moschino, and Tod's showed minimalist versions of the lace-up flats that arrive with slim soles and glove-like fits, and given 2026's focus on preppy fashion, all signs point to these modern derby shoes becoming big.

Animal Instincts

Animal prints were notably absent from the fall collections, but in their place arrived animal embossing instead. Whether on jackets or boots, croc embossing was a detail that popped up countless times in Milan and while it's hardly a new trend, the finish is set to get a renewed emphasis this year.

Happy Prada day to all those who celebrate, which, if you're reading this, probably includes you. On Thursday, the fashion set descended upon Fondazione Prada in Milan, ready to see what Co–Creative Directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons came up with to awe the industry once again. Hint: They got what they came for. Before heading inside, many stopped to see who would sit front-row, spotting gold medalist Eileen Gu, who extended her stay in Milan following the 2026 Winter Olympics to attend her first Prada show; WNBA player and frequent Prada wearer Caitlin Clark; Love Story star and New York City It girl Sarah Pidgeon; and more including Uma Thurman and Carey Mulligan.

Inside, the space gave attendees a sneak peek at the collection's messaging. "The set design was the clue for what was to come," wrote Linda Fargo, senior vice president of women’s fashion and store presentation director at Bergdorf Goodman, on Instagram. "A cross-section of a building, the layers when you take off the exterior and the facade." Once everyone had taken their seat, the show began. Just 15 models were cast, and yet, 60 looks debuted, with each walking a total of four times in slightly tweaked ensembles from the ones they wore before. A piece removed and a new outfit revealed, mimicking the way that real women dress and undress as they decide on what to wear on any given day.

The Act of Getting Dressed (and Undressed)

What you see at a Prada show is never complete—you need to hear what Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have to say afterward to really grasp what the intention behind the collection—each look and detail, the set, the casting, etc.—was. For F/W 26, everyone in attendance and watching from home understood that there was a significance to the brand's choice to only cast 15 models in the show, with each walking in four different looks. It wasn't until after that the co–creative directors explained why they chose to do this that everything clicked. This season, Mrs. Prada noted that the focus was all on "the idea of layering complexity, which is what exists in history, in politics, in life, and that reflects in clothes," she said to the media after the show. "So the continuous necessity of changing for living all the different personalities, moments, sentiments, [and] sexuality. This woman lives them together in a day, or in a life." The idea was that each time one of the 15 models returned backstage, they removed an article of clothing—from a coat to a dress—undressing, but also showcasing another way to wear an outfit—or a wardrobe. In my brain, this means that backstage looked a lot like my bed after I've tried on 100 different outfits, only better, because everything left behind is Prada.

Last Season's Frankenstein Skirts Are This Season's Slasher Skirts

Prada and fantastic skirts go hand in hand. For S/S 26, the brand debuted what we coined "Frankenstein skirts," which were fashioned out of what appeared to be multiple different skirts stitched together, creating a patchwork, Frankenstein-esque creation. Now, for fall, Prada and Simons kept on with that horror-turned-fashion inspiration. Introducing slasher skirts (and dresses). Basically, they're what would be left behind on the set of A Nightmare on Elm Street if Freddy Krueger only came after people wearing Prada. Solid-colored dresses and skirts were purposely cut in jagged, uneven ways to unveil brighter, printed fabrics underneath. Scary movies aren't really for me, but slasher skirts and dresses will always have a place in my closet.

New Outfit Loading…

Every fashion month, a few outfits debut on the runway that go on to become favorites around the style set, copied with existing wardrobe items or brought to life when the brand that first showed them releases its collections for awaiting customers. Already, we've spotted a few contenders during the F/W 26 season, but none have shown as much promise as Prada's chunky-knit-and-sheer-skirt formula that walked the runway on Thursday. We've seen arctic cardigans and Cowichans rise in popularity throughout this winter, but most people have been styling them simply, often just with jeans and boots to create a practical, cold-weather ensemble. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, of course, had other plans, designing elevated versions of the thick sweater styles and tucking them into sheer, knee-length skirts for a far more "fashion" approach. Underneath, models wore intricate skirts that peeked through with either embellished boots, kitten heels and knee-high socks, or derbies with colorful laces. Personally, I can't wait to see how fashion people bring this look to the streets, adding their own touches to the outfit everyone's talking about post-show.

Bella Hadid's Return to Milan

These days, it's rare to see Bella Hadid walking the runway circuit during fashion month. We usually spot her on the runway at one show, which, in the last few seasons, has been Saint Laurent in Paris. Earlier this week, though, we spotted the supermodel arriving at Milano Malpensa Airport, leaving us to wonder what show we could expect to see her walk in. Well, the answer arrived on Thursday morning, first when she was photographed arriving at Fondazione Prada and later when she debuted not one but four total looks for Prada. Suffice to say, her return to Milan was done in epic fashion.

From Gold Medalists to TV Darlings

The coolest crowd is always in attendance at Prada, and this season, that group consisted of a range of talents, from It actors like Sarah Pidgeon, who is currently starring in Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, playing the latter, as well as elite athletes, like the WNBA's Caitlin Clark and freestyle skier and multi-time gold medalist Eileen Gu. Letitia Wright, Uma Thurman, Carey Mulligan, and more, too, popped over to Milan for the show.

Milan Fashion Week is underway, drawing stylish celebrities to one of the world's top fashion capitals. They've arrived early to be fitted for their appearances at highly anticipated shows, such as Prada, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, and Giorgio Armani. One who has been recently spotted is supermodel Bella Hadid. While she is not known for frequenting the front row, her arrival has become a hot topic, and the question is, Which show will she walk? I'm not going to lie. I had my doubts about Love Story, Ryan Murphy's series on FX about Carolyn Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr. I, like so many others spanning all generations, feel an attachment to the couple, particularly to Bessette.
