This summer, we've been treated to more compelling shoe trends than any that I've seen before. All of a sudden, brands are brimming with elegant ballet flats, cool kitten heels, and thickly caged sandals that make former seasons' offerings feel meek in comparison. In case you haven't noticed, the grunge look is permeating every facet of the fashion industry, resulting in celebrities and influencers alike outfitting themselves in beaten-up leather and distressed denim. It all started with Miu Miu's buckle boots that immediately went viral online after debuting on the brand's F/W 22 runway, eventually selling out once they became available roughly six months later. They have a slightly edgier air to them resulting from a metal buckle along the top of the boots and shearling details that peek out from the inside. Like their predecessor, these feature a two-inch platform, but unlike them, they're actually in stock—specifically in Chestnut and Black, the most-wanted shades of the original platforms.

Another weekend, another Taylor Swift sighting at a Kansas City Chiefs game. Swift, who was there to cheer on Travis Kelce again, has really struck a balance between showing her Chiefs team spirit and staying true to her signature fun, classic-yet-trendy style. For the home game yesterday, Swift paired a vintage Chiefs sweatshirt with a pleated black miniskirt, black socks, lots of jewelry, and a pair of Reformation shoes that tied the whole look together.

After a particularly difficult shopping session at a budget-friendly shoe retailer when I was 13 years old, my mom told me that Paris Hilton had to custom-make some of her shoes because of her size 11 feet—the same size that I detested having.

I was just starting my last year of middle school, and unlike the rest of my friends who could waltz into any beloved tween retailer at the mall, my only option was sneaking to the back of a Payless to stare at the rack of "size 10 and over" options. Usually, none of them enticed me. Every limited option was too big, too small, or too grandma-like for a temperamental eighth-grader. While I'd usually find something to make work (or squeeze into), my somewhat hilarious shoe-shopping trauma has taken me years to unpack. Although I'm a fashion editor who lives for my clothes, my shoes are another story—often bought from the same retailers over and over in different colors. If only we could all be like Hilton and have shoes custom-made to the size of our honkers. As she'd say, that's hot.

Over the years, I've compiled a long list of shoe brands I trust to deliver the perfect fit without making me look 10 times my age. At 24, I don't think anyone would be shocked to learn that I, in fact, am not interested in size 11 shoes that consist of clunky orthopedic-esque silhouettes. Thankfully, after more than a decade of trial and error, I've come to find the perfect pairs for anyone who wears size 11 or size 42 EU shoes. Who knows—maybe Hilton even has some of these.

If we had to zero in on the one wardrobe item Jennifer Lopez favors most, it would have to be platforms. If you thought the hot-pink craze brought on by Valentino's Pink PP runway collection was petering out, think again. Thanks to Selena Gomez—who wore the collection (and the color!) from head to toe to celebrate her Only Murders in the Building co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin hosting Saturday Night Live—it's going strong in every way. 

Following her surprise appearance on the show alongside the two comedians, Gomez arrived at the after-party wearing an off-the-shoulder, sequin-embellished sweater and matching pleated miniskirt from the Italian brand's F/W 22 collection. With the eye-catching set, she added hot-pink tights and a pair of seven-inch platform heels (casual). 

While the celeb set—including Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Jenna Ortega—would have us all believing that the only hot-pink items on the market come from Valentino, that's certainly not the case. She even carried a shearling pillow bag from Coach for added effect.

Since the creation of the camera, there's no disputing that film and fashion have become intertwined.
