I’m not going to lie, when I hear the words “leggings” and “heels” in the same sentence, I can't always get a clear picture in my mind. They just seem contradictory. Love them both in separate contexts, of course; leggings for coziness and heels for a dressy moment. Together? I just wasn’t getting it. Yet, Olivia Culpo, the latest celebrity to endorse a rising legging trend—stirrup leggings—proved it can be an undeniably chic combination.

These leggings aren’t like your average pair; they come with cutouts at the foot, creating a dramatic edge to an outfit that regular leggings just simply can’t do. Culpo’s recent look while out in L.A. is proof. She stepped out in a sleek black pair with an oversized blazer and a knit sweater, cinched at the waist with a simple black belt. Every few seasons or so, we notice a shift in what’s influencing the industry. Right now it’s the exaggerated silhouettes, strong shoulders, and bright color scheme of the ’80s replacing the warm, ’70-inspired tones we saw in prior years. Whether you’ve lived through those years and wore the original iterations or have only these modern inspirations to go on, we can all agree that the past has never been more relevant. When it comes to holiday dressing, we're all for luxe materials and colors—velvet, metallic, sequins, you name it. This is this time to go all-out. When it comes to metallics specifically, you might feel like the typical silver and gold are your only options, whereas bronze can sometimes feel like more of a neutral. Well, we have just the outfit to prove that notion totally wrong.

Olivia Culpo stepped out this week for Revolve's Winter Formal in a bronzed-out look that was anything but muted. The actress opted for an alluring look from LPA consisting of a metallic, fringy velvet plunging bodysuit (seriously, wow) and a bronze silk slit skirt. She did style it with nude two-strap sandals, thus allowing the glitzy textures on top to stand on their own. What made this look pop more than your average bronze pieces is the fact that she mixed materials—patterned velvet on top plus something slinky on bottom. This look is making us so excited for all the holiday dressing to come, and we're pretty convinced that we want to include some bronze metallics in our upcoming ensembles.

There's no getting around it: winter is well and truly here. You could try and brave the chill with just a crisp tee and a bomber but weather-wise it just won't cut it, even if style-wise, it will.
