If there’s one thing I can tell you for certain, without having even seen The Devil Wears Prada 2, it’s that a million girls would kill for the wardrobe. So far, Andy Sachs has been spotted in an impossibly chic all-white look anchored by a Phoebe Philo tee and Nili Lotan barrel-leg denim, a razor-sharp vintage Jean Paul Gaultier suit, and a patchwork linen dress by Gabriela Hearst that feels destined to dominate summer moodboards. But, while Andy’s transformation may be complete, her relaxed, slightly undone edge is still very much intact, whether through easy barrel-leg jeans or the return of that oversized Coach messenger bag slung over her shoulder. Sure, It’s a far cry from the girl in the frumpy cerulean sweater, but there’s still a trace of that same undone charm—what 2026 has since coined the “messy girl” aesthetic.

Miranda Priestly, meanwhile, remains exactly as she should: impossibly polished. The foundations of her wardrobe are still there, in razor-sharp tailoring, floor-sweeping coats and elegant midi skirts, but this time, they’ve been reworked with a fresher, more contemporary lens. The press tour for The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the gift that keeps on giving. With the movie hitting theaters today, May 1, we've reached the end of the official promotional circuit, but I have a strong feeling that the party will continue on Met Gala Monday.

After following the red carpet events religiously, I got the opportunity to interview Meryl Streep's stylist, Micaela Erlanger, who is partnering with TJ Maxx to remind fashion fans that designer pieces need not cost a fortune. During our conversation, Erlanger told me the one outfit Streep has worn that deserves more attention than it's getting. "I loved the look we put her in for the Shanghai appearance," Erlanger told Who What Wear. "It was a blue structured jacket with a black cinched belt from Anthony Vaccarello’s spring 2025 Saint Laurent collection. It was intended to be a nod to the mention of Yves Saint Laurent in the iconic cerulean monologue, as she references the 2002 show where the house showed blue structured jackets with black belts. At first, it was the fictional world referencing fashion, and now it’s fashion referencing the fictional world referencing real fashion history. It’s all very meta!"

I also asked Erlanger about how she hit the right balance between Miranda and Meryl with the press tour looks. "I think fans are responding to a certain confidence and strength they associate with Miranda, but the goal was never to re-create looks—it was to channel that energy in a way that is completely and authentically Meryl," Erlanger told me. "We focused on strong tailoring, defined shoulders, leopard print, bold accessories, and looks that feel deliberate."

Erlanger also discussed why this partnership is such a good fit for her. "My entire approach to styling is about making fashion feel attainable without losing integrity," she said. "I truly believe great style starts with quality: how something is made, how it holds its shape, how it makes you feel when you put it on. Yes, the Elie Saab gown stole my heart, but Jolie’s stunning emerald earrings are what sealed the deal—the dramatic colour contrast, the size, and her damn cheekbones just make this look too divine for humanity.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it: Janelle Monáe does not play when it comes to her style. It took over 600 hours of handwork to embroider 168,000 Swarovski crystals on the dress, making it a masterpiece we won’t forget.

If you know, you know that Timothée Chalamet is never one to shy away from serving a look. (He’ll wear men’s jewellery with ease.) Of course, that fearlessness is sometimes met with mass critique, most recently including strong feelings around his 2020 Oscars outfit. Instead of sticking to a tuxedo, he opted for an anti-suit: a Prada Re-Nylon gabardine jacket with satin racing stripes and matching Prada Re-Nylon trousers over a white poplin shirt. He finished the look with a Cartier Tradition brooch with 18k white gold, platinum, rubies, and diamonds. While the critics may not have been here for it, I have a feeling this look will go down in history as ushering in a new way for men to approach their Oscars red carpet looks.

Yes, the Elie Saab gown stole my heart, but Jolie’s stunning emerald earrings are what sealed the deal—the dramatic color contrast, the size, and her damn cheekbones just make this look too divine for humanity.

But the oversize bow in the back makes this a lesson in understated elegance. This look could have been worn to the Oscars in the ‘50s or could easily make a statement well into the future. That’s what makes it iconic.

The stunning custom Vivienne Westwood dress with a corset bodice and a frayed hem had her looking like a supermodel.

The 2019 Academy Awards was a huge night for Regina King, as she not only won Best Supporting Actress for the film If Beale Street Could Talk, but she also donned one of her best red carpet looks to date. Of course, King fans are well aware that she’s often one of the most stylish characters on-screen, but the stunning white Oscar de la Renta gown paired with matching Christian Louboutin shoes proved she’s a style icon IRL, too.

If you weren’t already a self-proclaimed Little Monster (like myself), the 2019 Oscars could have felt as if a star was born that evening. Of course, real Lady Gaga fans know she’s served iconic looks for years; her Oscar win (for best original song), the Alexander McQueen dress, and the yellow Tiffany & Co. necklace had her shinin’ like never before.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it: Janelle Monáe does not play when it comes to her style. No gown better encompasses that ethos than the crystal-lacquered silk lamé, tulle mesh Ralph Lauren gown—featuring a draped hood and an open back—she wore to the 2020 Oscars. It took over 600 hours of handwork to embroider 168,000 Swarovski crystals on the dress, making it a masterpiece we won’t forget.

WHO: Timothée Chalamet and Margot Robbie

If you know, you know that Timothée Chalamet is never one to shy away from serving a look. (He’ll wear men’s jewelry with ease.) Of course, that fearlessness is sometimes met with mass critique, most recently including strong feelings around his 2020 Oscars outfit. Instead of sticking to a tuxedo, he opted for an anti-suit: a Prada Re-Nylon gabardine jacket with satin racing stripes and matching Prada Re-Nylon trousers over a white poplin shirt. He finished the look with a Cartier Tradition brooch with 18k white gold, platinum, rubies, and diamonds. While the critics may not have been here for it, I have a feeling this look will go down in history as ushering in a new way for men to approach their Oscars red carpet looks.

One person can bring life or death by serving a look, and that’s no other than Grey’s Anatomy and Killing Eve star Sandra Oh. Her 2020 Vanity Fair Oscars Party look (a gray, floor-length, sequinned, feather-embellished, deep V-neck Cong Tri dress) had me in shambles.

By now, you know that a list of the best Oscars looks of all time is subjective and ever-changing in the face of trends. But with time, reflection, and a whole lot of sequins, we’re able to see that the best Oscars looks of all time strike the perfect balance between being timeless and being of that time period. Paparazzi are drawn to certain celebrities like a moth to a flame, while other A-listers make a point to stay out of the spotlight. Meryl Streep definitely falls into the latter category, as it's quite rare to see her photographed outside of a red carpet or Hollywood event. Thankfully, however, we get to have our Meryl fix even during the quarantine. 

Photographed in Los Angeles, Streep traded the designer gowns we're used to seeing her in for the perfect laidback end-of-summer outfit. Like a true Angeleno, she wore the easiest shoe trend in existence: flip-flops. She paired them with a flowy embroidered top and straight-leg jeans. Meryl Streep is joining the cast of Big Little Lies for season two. Yep, you read that right. Fresh off of the show’s major award season wins at the Golden Globes and SAGs, Streep becomes the latest celeb to announce she’ll star in the HBO show. Curious who she’ll play? It’s already been confirmed: Streep will be portraying the mother of Perry (Alexander Skarsgård). According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Skarsgard is said to be returning in some capacity for season two,” but we’re already predicting that Meryl will be getting some serious screen time with Nicole Kidman (who plays Perry’s wife, Celeste) when the show airs.

We didn’t think BLL could get any more star-studded than its already impressive cast—including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley—but it just did in a major way. Witherspoon already tweeted a welcome to her new co-star: “Beyond thrilled to have the one, the only, Meryl Streep joining the cast of #BLL for season 2. Get ready for more wine, secrets, and Big Little Lies. Monterey better watch out!!!” And it sounds like everyone else is as excited as Witherspoon. In honor of the cult movie's 10th anniversary on June 30, the cast of The Devil Wears Prada sat down for a tell-all with Variety—and, as you can imagine, the interview is chock-full of juicy tidbits.

Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt all offered up plenty of never-before-heard fun facts about the film, but three details stuck out to us the most. First, we were surprised to learn that Rachel McAdams was the studio's first choice for Anne Hathaway's starring role, but she turned it down multiple times, "citing her desire to step away from mainstream material." 

From a fashion standpoint, we also reveled in one stat in particular: The costumes, helmed by Patricia Field, cost a staggering $1 million. Our third favorite fact? Meryl Streep revealed that the inspiration for her Miranda Priestly character didn't come from Anna Wintour—it actually came from Clint Eastwood and Mike Nichols.

“The voice I got from Clint Eastwood,” Streep told Variety. “He never, ever, ever raises his voice, and everyone has to lean in to listen, and he is automatically the most powerful person in the room.
