Spotted at Sundance Film Festival: Meghan Markle wearing an elegant outfit—what's new? But actually, the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry attended a Sunday screening of their new film, Cookie Queens, during the annual event, and, of course, she could teach a masterclass in dressing for the occasion. There were no quirky nods to their mountainous location, be it faux fur, a cowboy hat, or an alpine cardigan. Her outfit was pure class as always, and it included the color combination that's proven itself to be even more valuable than wearing all black. After several seasons spent trotting around in sleek slingbacks, I’d almost forgotten that a comfortable, supportive heel could exist.

Slingbacks may be the image of elegance, but for me, slipping into them comes with a silent agreement: an evening of fiddling with the strap and treading carefully. Hardly the image of poise and polish I’m trying to project.

That’s why I did a double-take when Meghan Markle emerged this week in a "dated" heel trend that actually offers support. Stepping out in an all-white ensemble, she grounded her look with a pair of light nude heels featuring a refined double ankle strap, a subtle detail that added elegance—and much-needed support—to her pretty skirt outfit.

In a surprise appearance, Meghan Markle was the last guest to arrive for the Balenciaga spring 2026 runway show. Though she has attended New York Fashion Week in the past, the show marked the first-ever Paris Fashion Week appearance for the Duchess of Sussex. She arrived to celebrate the debut collection for Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, who showcased his first runway show for the French fashion house. She was first spotted wearing her look for the front row when leaving the Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris—a head-to-toe custom Balenciaga look including a white pantsuit topped with a draped shawl as well as a black bag and heels. These days, we don't get Meghan Markle sightings nearly as often as we'd like, so when she does make an appearance somewhere, it's a big—huge—deal. Well, it's our lucky day, because this week, Markle was seen presenting an award at Kevin Costner's annual Rock for First Responders One805LIVE! benefit concert in Carpinteria, California, and, of course, I immediately went searching for credits for her elegant, early-fall outfit. Hint: I found them. For the event, which she attended alongside Prince Harry, Markle donned a very her navy-blue, sleeveless shirt dress with a tie belt. With it, she wore one of her favorite pairs of pumps, a cognac-brown leather heel by Ralph Lauren Collection. What makes this color combination so chic is how neutral yet unique it is. We see black and white, black and brown, and even navy and black, all the time, but navy and brown, especially cognac brown, aren't paired together as often, making the pairing feel chic and elevated. The colors give off an IYKYK energy when styled alongside each other, while still being versatile and easy. No effort required. Can you believe it's been less than a year since Meghan Markle returned to social media? The Duchess of Sussex has provided us with so much content that it seems like she's been back a lot longer. She's offered behind-the-scenes peeks at the making of her Netflix show; her home life with Prince Harry, Archie, and Lili; and even her family trip to Disneyland. Not to alarm anyone, but I was 11 when the 2010s kicked off, and while I’m not sure I appreciated it at the time, now I look back and realise I was living through an iconic decade of pop culture and fashion.

It was the kind of time in which core memories were planted so deeply, they still come flooding back with a song or a grainy clip on YouTube. From the beginning of the Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez ‘Jelena' lore to Onsie-mania and Katy Perry proving that we’re all California Girls at heart to the best year of X-Factor to ever grace our TV (which caused the creation of One Direction, the UK’s biggest boyband in my humble opinion), it was a year packed with so many decade-definding moments, I could write a whole story just on that.

The one thing I definitely wouldn’t label 2010 as, though, is chic. Let’s be honest, looking back, it feels more like one big chaotic costume party than a decade of elevated elegance. Quiet-luxury definitely wasn’t a thing and the fashion I was wearing at the time looked like it was curated by a sleep-deprived raccoon with a highlighter obsession: fuzzy, with luminous leg warmers, neon tutus, shutter shades and cropped tees proudly screaming YOLO, all worn unironically and all paired with battered UGGs and trainers that had seen better days. It was a complete sensory overload—and yes, I enjoyed every moment of it—but it’s fair to say my sense of style has come a long way since then.

So imagine my disbelief when I was scrolling through my social feed in 2025, only to be confronted with carousel after carousel of 2010s outfits that, actually, look undeniably stylish now. At first, I was dubious but the fact is, there are some 2010s outfits that do look stylish in the year 2025. The fashion cycle has done what it always does and now, 15 years later, we are seeing trends from 2010 reemerge. From the Boho Renaissance seen across Chloé, Miu Miu, Isabel Marant, Etro and Coach’s spring/summer 2025 collections, to Hailey Bieber at the Met Gala afterparty, stepping out in sky-scraping platform peep-toes like it's 2010 all over again, there is plenty of proof to back me up.

Topping off this full-circle moment? Isabel Marant’s iconic Bekett hidden wedge high tops, the very same silhouette Beyoncé wore in the Love On Top music video, are back and ranked as the eighth hottest product in the world on the LYST Index Q2 2025 report. If that’s not a fashion reset, I don’t know what is.

It's been snowing more than usual in New York lately, and I guarantee that I'm not the only person in the city who's been stumped by the precipitation, which usually melts into slush by now but is instead accumulating—a lot. I don't own snow boots nor would I know how to style them if I did. So instead, I've been putting my not-safe-for-snow footwear through the ringer.

The biggest names in sports gathered last night at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to celebrate their wins throughout 2024. Among those nominated were Formula One driver Max Verstappen, NCAA basketball star turned WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark, WNBA All-Star and 2023 champion A'ja Wilson, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and more. It's rare that we see Meghan Markle at all these days, so when she arrived in Nigeria to celebrate the anniversary of the Invictus Games over the weekend, I'm sure you can imagine our shared excitement over the prospect of getting multiple days (and, therefore, multiple outfits) with the famously well-dressed Duchess of Sussex. Now that photos from her trip have arrived, I can say with absolute certainty that she didn't disappoint.

To view a volleyball match at Nigeria Unconquered—a charitable organization in collaboration with the Invictus Games Foundation that helps wounded, injured, and ill service members—Markle, who attended alongside Prince Harry, wore an especially noteworthy look that included an already-viral striped, cutout sundress by Johanna Ortiz, oversize sunglasses by Heidi Merrick, and a bevy of Cartier jewelry. Those weren't even the pieces in the ensemble that stood out to me most. Rather, it was the actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist's choice of footwear that caught my eye.

For the occasion, Markle ditched her usual Aquazzura and Manolo Blahnik footwear for a controversial pair of thong sandals courtesy of Emme Parsons. Aside from the fact that both Meghan Markle and Victoria Beckham are married to men who I would acknowledge as British royalty, the two have never struck me as having very much in common. But now, I'm starting to conclude that their similarities might outweigh their differences. Both extraordinary women are former performers and they've both spent many years in the public eye. And, upon further analysis, they both seem to possess quite a similar sense of style.

The two favour a relaxed but polished approach to style, often opting for comfortable jeans for a casual event or a smart suit set when dressing up. Fond of a refined look, both manage to experiment with seasonal, trending silhouettes without veering from their personal styles, consistently creating chic ensembles that I'm always drawing inspiration from. This winter, their similarities have been staring me in the face, as both women recently took to styling the draped dress trend that has been cropping up everywhere this season.

Styling her beige. off-the-shoulder draped dress to the Variety Power of Women event in L.A., Markle kept her accessories to a minimum, choosing a small black clutch bag that stood out against her neutral-toned dress. The nature of the draped dress affords the wearer the option to veer on the minimal side when it comes to accessories, as the added pleats and folds inject enough texture and interest into the look.

Meanwhile, Beckham wore her draped dress to a press event in Notting Hill earlier this season, opting for a similar styling route by forgoing layers of jewellery and paring back her look to only the essentials: large shades, a compact handbag and her favourite peep-toe boots.

Like the rest of the world, I am watching Suits right now. (Thank you, Netflix.) This isn't my first time watching the legal drama, and I must admit I'm even more hooked the second time around. For the speaking engagement, Markle chose one of the minimalist shades that she wears best, ivory, in the form of an off-the-shoulder Altuzarra blazer that she then paired with matching tailored trousers from the NYC-based brand and her go-to Aquazzura pumps.
