When I travel, I love buying specialty items that each region is known for, such as mochilas from Colombia, Waterford crystal from Ireland, and Kona coffee from Hawaii. When it comes to Saint-Tropez's trademark export, there's one fashion item that stands above the rest: sandals.

Last year, French publication Le Monde wrote a feature dubbed "Saint-Tropez's War of the Luxury Sandals," referencing the competition between local brands K.Jacques and Rondini. Right now, I'm focusing on the former because I just spotted Martha Hunt wearing the brand, which reignited my obsession with its sandals. Family owned since 1933, K.Jacques has attracted plenty of celebrity clients over the years, ranging from Brigitte Bardot and Pablo Picasso to Kate Moss and Michelle Obama. Frequent flier status has always come with the territory for models in the fashion industry, but lately, it's been fun to take a peek inside their quieter at-home lives. Home tours and comfy outfits have replaced launch parties and red carpet looks, but that doesn't mean we get any less excited about industry news when it's revealed—and the latest model-brand team-up announcement is no exception. Martha Hunt has just been named Bvlgari's new U.S. ambassador and I'm thinking it's a match made in fashion heaven. Naturally, she broke the news on Instagram, and the post quickly went viral.

When Bvlgari offered an opportunity to interview Hunt, I jumped at the chance. The first question on my mind? I was curious about the pieces she's been wearing at home recently. "My fiancé’s oversized button-down because it feels effortlessly chic yet still comfortable," she told Who What Wear. "I love the Bvlgari B.Zero1 rings in black and white ceramic because I’m all about sticking to investment pieces right now! With it being summer, I’m also loving flowy dresses that make you feel like you’re on holiday while being at home. I’ve also been living in a pair of silk boy shorts! They are perfect for hot sticky summer days and go great with a bikini top." Amen to that.

I also asked Hunt about what she's looking forward to wearing for fall. She told us she has three specific outfit combos in mind, centered around coats, jeans, and leggings. "Since fall will probably be about embracing comfortable clothing for at-home meetings, I think we will be seeing more jewelry to dress up casual outfits," Hunt said. "I’m also into the idea of wearing an everyday 'uniform' look because it’s more sustainable—we can forget about the stigma around re-wearing an outfit! Some uniforms for me would be: a strong sandal with a coat because it’s unexpected and the perfect transitional outfit; high-quality leggings with chunky knitwear because it’s functional but chic and knitwear is sexy in a nondescript way; and vintage jeans with a tee, which feels more presentable when accessorized with timeless jewelry, like a Serpenti watch, and a pair of boots." Sounds chic to us. I go on about this a lot, but nothing gets me down more than the fact that my hair is lifeless and lacking texture. I can spend up to two hours tonging it and misting it with several different sprays and still not manage to achieve the effortlessly tousled look I so crave. At the end of the whole ordeal, I’m left with one of two hair looks: matted, flat and greasy as a result of the excess product in there or a Dolly Parton–esque bouffant. 

If you ask me, achieving beachy lengths that look effortless is one of my hardest beauty feats. And while I’m still eagerly anticipating my post-lockdown haircut, it’s safe to say that I am looking for all of the tips to style out my rather ridiculously long hair right now. Luckily for me, I recently got the chance to sit down with Laura Polko, T3 ambassador and hairstylist to the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kate Bosworth, Lea Michele, Lucy Hale and Martha Hunt, to discover exactly how to achieve effortlessly tousled hair. This is what she had to say…

Dry Shampoo Makes All the Difference

It turns out a huge problem that so many of us face is that we’re repeatedly opting for the wrong styling products. "I see so many people using too much spray. When you use too much texture spray, it can make the hair look matted,” she warns. The answer? Steer clear of sticky texturising sprays and instead opt for targeted dry shampoo application. "Just take a small amount of dry shampoo to the crown. Spray it, and then shake it all out. It’s the best way to get that undone look.”

Invest in Your Tools

A key point that Polko is keen to drill home is that relying on product to style your hair just isn’t enough and usually won’t work. "It’s all in the tool,” she says. It would seem that there are lots of things many of us don’t consider when shopping for hair tools that can totally make or break the end result. "A hair tool that reheats itself often will make things a lot easier. It means that you don’t have to go back over things or end up with one half that looks dramatically different from the other.”

The other thing to keep an eye on? The lengths of the plates. "So many people struggle to curl their hair with straighteners, but the key is finding a pair that uses longer plates so that the hair doesn’t fall out,” she says. But if you still can’t nail it, there are other things you can try. The ultimate undone, natural-looking style, according to Polko, is flat-iron waves. "It’s not a look that comes across as overly styled. The key is, though, to always open up the face. Always bend up first. Otherwise, you get unnatural volume where you really don’t want it.”

Face Framing Is a Thing

Speaking of opening up the face, Polko suggests that this isn’t something that needs to take time or be a laborious task. In fact, it can be super quick and easy. "It’s called face framing. You don’t have to do anything with the hair except for one really subtle wave just where the eye is. This is where your hair would naturally tuck beside your ear,” she advises. If this seems weird at first, just try it and see the difference it makes. "The minute you add that, it makes everything look really natural. It’s subtle, but it really opens up the whole face.”

Never Forget the Ends

Here’s one that I can definitely take note of. When styling your own hair, it can be tempting to put all of your effort and attention into the middle section, where the eye is naturally drawn to. However, Polko warns that neglecting the ends can totally make or break your ’do. "You have got to pay attention to the ends. It’s the key to natural-looking tousled hair,” she says.

With the ends being the most fragile part of our strands, it makes sense that we are often reluctant to inflict heat upon them. However, making sure you use a hardworking heat protector first should do the job at protecting them. "If your hair is long, the key is to make sure the ends all go in different directions. If it’s short, curl them under a little bit. Naturally, the ends would all be doing a different thing,” says Polko.

Much like with shoes, my philosophy on handbags has always been that when something spans multiple spheres of It girls, ranging from models to actresses to influencers to fashion directors to all-around fashion darlings, one must take notice. As you could have guessed, such is the topic of today’s story on bags from none other than Olsen-owned The Row.

While to be honest, just the brand’s association with everyone’s favorite twins alone would have been enough to make me a fan, its influence goes exponentially beyond the familial connection. As with all their offerings, Mary-Kate and Ashley have mastered the art of the simple-yet-effective, subtle-yet-statement-making, trendy-yet-timeless, and ultimately investment-worthy handbag—though I must warn you that the investment is a big one. However, whether or not one of their actual bags (which typically start in the thousands) is on the horizon for you, there’s something to be learned by what makes them so popular, which can be then used in choosing other accessories.

As is about to be demonstrated by Net-a-Porter’s fashion director Lisa Aiken, model Gigi Hadid, actress Priyanka Chopra, mega-influencer Chriselle Lim, and more, the brand’s two most seemingly popular bag styles (the Double Circle and Ascot bags), while very different, have multiple traits in common. They both possess unique shapes, easy-to-hold handles that could also go around one’s wrist, come in black, as well as a slew of striking colors, and are offered in a range of luxe materials from satin to velvet to fur. If that’s not a recipe for sartorial success, I’m not sure what is.

The red carpet at last night's CFDA Awards was definitely memorable. Last night, Gigi Hadid celebrated her 23rd birthday in true Hadid fashion: with a parade of impeccably dressed models, including her sister, Bella, along with Lily Aldridge, Hailey Baldwin, Joan Smalls, Martha Hunt, and others. (Oh, and her mom, Yolanda, too, of course.)

Most recently, we're turning to the Proenza Schouler Arizona fragrance launch party, which boasted an impeccably dressed crowd including the likes of Emma Roberts, Martha Hunt, Elsa Hosk, Karolina Kurkova, and Nina Dobrev, to name a few.

We may never be able to emulate the glamorous lives of Victoria's Secret Angels, but we can start wearing our underwear like them. (Hey, it's a start.) There's one specific trend they all swear by right now, and Martha Hunt was kind enough to fill us in. We caught up with her in Los Angeles last night, where she was celebrating the launch of the newest Body by Victoria collection that features bras with three lining levels: Nothing, Something, Everything.

"To be totally honest, the most popular underwear trend is wearing our pants really high," Hunt told Who What Wear of the Angels. "I see the pants line going higher and higher. I think the trend is really in right now: the '80s cut riding way over your hips. The stylist's hand comes to push it down on set, and the model pushes it up higher when she walks off set. That's the ongoing trend amongst the VS girls." Easy enough to emulate, right?

Last night, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists and industry insiders gathered at NYC's Spring Studios for the 13th annual gala and awards. Husband-wife design duo Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock of Brock Collection took home top honors (and a cool $400,000 cash prize), and the red carpet might have been one the best we've seen. 

From A-list ladies like Zendaya and Solange Knowles to fashion It girls like Dree Hemingway and Martha Hunt, the attendees all proved that the CFDA/VFF red carpet is all about standout style. "I honestly feel like the dress chose me," Zendaya tells Vogue of her cut-out embroidered Michael Kors Collection gown. "I put it on and knew this was the one." Meanwhile, Dree Hemingway stood out in a tomboy-inspired look, complete with an oversize NBA pullover. Bold colors and fabrics were aplenty, fashion statements were made, and unique style took over the red carpet last night—and we're all for it.
