Last fall, blazers emerged as one of the biggest trends of the season. Fashion insides scooped up the workwear jacket and wore it as a layering piece over all of their outfits. Could it be the versatility of blazers or the female empowerment movement that's bringing these strong pieces back into rotation? Either way, they've established themselves as a bonafide staple. Although we’ve just seen a wash of pretty pastels on the runway with the likes of Chanel, Miu Miu and Bottega Veneta showing at Fashion Week, rest assured, when it comes to putting outfits together, bright bold colours are taking the win. (Trust us) We’ve seen some of our favourite women wear cobalt blue, proving the colour is equally striking and everlasting.

An update to the colour blocking trend, we’re seeing bright colours make a statement all on their own, or alternatively, solo with an accessory that stands out against a minimal and neutral outfit. Bold colour in 2017 is also playing up extreme textures, such as daring vinyl (see it on Caroline Daur below).

If you’re worried about whether you’d suit the impressive shade, cobalt blue does actually suit all skin tones, making it a perfect choice to dive into the bold colour trend. We’re predicting a huge couple of months of print and textures, so make sure you keep up with Who What Wear Australia this spring and summer to see all the street style action.

If anyone knows how to pull off intricate layering, its Australian It girl Margaret Zhang. Snapped this week at New York Fashion Week, we saw Zhang go for the same outfit formula she was seen in at Sydney Fashion Week earlier this year.

Her go-to pieces? A waist-cinching corset and statement pants. Perhaps it's to do with her tiny frame and cool-girl confidence to street style that makes her a star when it comes to photographers. Zhang has proven layering is not just limited to winter, but can be experimented with through all seasons of the year. Think: Pants over skirts, swimwear under jeans, and an LBD over trousers. The options are clearly endless. Either way, she's given us new inspiration to the corset and statement pant trends and we're eager to try these looks.

C/MEO Collective is known for affordable yet quality pieces, and its designs always seem to nail the idea around simplicity and clean lines. Established in 2010, the Adelaide-based label has continually grown as a favourite go-to for everything from cocktail attire to chic work wear. 

An original C/MEO Collective style that has been dominating the feeds of Australian influencers this year has been the range of pieces featuring black and white stitching, which includes wrap dresses, flared pants, and fluted skirts and dresses. Stephanie Robertson from Fashion Bunker says the items have had to be restocked and have been incredibly popular. Looking at the number of Australian It girls sharing their styling of the pieces, it's easy to see why. It also seems head designer of the label, Siham Elmawey, clearly has amazing direction for the brand going forward.

Margaret Zhang needs no introduction. We’re obviously huge fans of her style (she’s the reason we became obsessed with neckties) and her work (in particular, this Kate Bosworth shoot she styled and photographed), and now have the opportunity to see it up close. The Chinese-Australian photographer, director, stylist, writer, and model is hosting her first-ever solo photography exhibition, presented by Vestiaire Collective, on May 13 at Comber Street Studios, in Sydney’s Paddington from 10am to 3pm.

The exhibition will showcase 39 previously unpublished works, titled “UNSEEN: A Photographic Retrospective by Margaret Zhang, presented by Vestiaire Collective”. If you can’t make it to Sydney for the exhibition, you’ll be able to purchase the prints via Shine By Three.

Photographer, stylist, and writer Margaret Zhang does it all, and she does it well—and her latest campaign with Mon Purse is no different. Jodi Anasta has teamed up with the handbag label to design a capsule collection of six customisable bags, and with Zhang behind the lens and acting as creative consultant, the results are magic.

The collection lands on April 20, but we’ve been given an exclusive sneak peek at the campaign Polaroid shots. This vibe is SO different to the supremely sleek and polished imagery we’re used to seeing from Zhang—and we’re obsessed.

Jodi Anasta: Textured leather, like the new ostrich pieces in my Mon Purse collection.

JA: I like a smaller style pouch with a hand strap—simple, chic and functional.

WWW: What’s your go-to look for weekends and events?

JA: For weekends—leather shorts and a white blouse. I’ll never get sick of it! Simple, but easy. For events, I love being adventurous. It’s great to play around and have fun with fashion—embracing it in different ways.

WWW: Why do you think personalisation is having such a huge moment right now?

JA: I think because it looks so chic and expensive. Such a small detail can change your whole bag and give it a cool edge.

WWW: What can every woman do to elevate her look from desk to drinks?

JA: Add heels and an amazing Mon Purse pouch! A small pouch can really dress up an outfit in a cool and subtle way.

WWW: Do you prefer vintage or new?

The ski season is often over way too soon and all you've got left is a longing for the log cabin's fireside sofas, a slight ache in your knees and quilted key pieces that are too cosy to archive. We hear you. Thanks to 2016's love of eclectic threads and wintery needs-must, you can legitimately wear that heavy duty snow gear in the city. We break down the code to getting it right without looking like you grand slammed into the wrong dress code.

The memo is well and truly out that turtlenecks are the centrepiece to a layered look this season, so we won't patronise you with another 101 on how to wear them under dresses, etc. In short, get them worn now.

Padded ski jackets can be teamed with leather trousers, high-waisted jeans and premium jersey tops with ease. Let the cover-up hang off of one shoulder to reveal a slick composition of layers. Nice.

There's a case for using your snow goggles as a headband but this is not one for fashion's fainthearted. When the weather hits its extreme best, do wear your ski pants (by Chanel, Fendi, Lacroix, or Fuslap, no less) to win the war on the cold but team them with luxe leather ankle boots that balance out the hemline. Go for a ribbed knit top and boyfriend shearling or biker jacket to keep the look on the right side of urbane. Moon boots and snow gloves are the most approachable pieces to add to your usual January ensembles, so mix it up.
