In a new interview with Who What Wear, the brand's founder, Kendra Scott herself, elaborated on two of Meester's selections. That said, the actress's recent run of red carpet looks is quietly starting to rival even Blair's most iconic outfits. Accessories proved to be unnecessary, especially given the tiny details all over her purple gown, designed by the American brand's creative director, Wes Gordon. The color of the dress is equally stunning, which is probably why it's shaping up to be one of 2026's top trends, having also appeared in Chloé's S/S 26 collection as well as Valentino's. Black and red are classics on the red carpet for a reason, but Meester's lilac alternative proved that going an alternative route is never a bad idea.

The news is out: Leighton Meester is stepping into a new role that's just as sweet as her acting chops. On Monday, it was announced that ahead of the actress's role in season 2 of Netflix's hit Nobody Wants This—starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell and premiering on October 23—she'll be the first person to portray the legendary Lady Godiva in a Godiva Chocolatier partnership. I'd love to learn more about what this fun partnership with Godiva means to you! What was the overall vision for aligning yourself with the brand?

There are plenty of reasons to partner with Godiva, but this campaign has been so fun and meaningful for me! But mostly, I just really like chocolate, and it's not that hard to convince me to indulge in it. I've been a fan of Godiva my whole life before I even knew what it was. It was the Christmas present I could always expect Santa to bring.

To this day, I think that this chocolate can create special moments for you through just taking a bite as a special treat. The campaign is really inspirational for me. I feel very honored to carry on that joyful, strong, and bold legacy of Lady Godiva and what her story stood for. I'm able to find some humor and joy in it.

That makes so much sense! I did some research on Lady Godiva and learned so much about her. How has this collaboration allowed you to engage with this icon's legacy in a new way?

The idea of the myth and the legend is bigger than the actual person, and that goes to show her impact. … If I can to bring the legend back down to Earth by representing that kind of strength and willpower with some tongue-in-cheek humor and cheekiness, anybody can. It's an honor to partner with Godiva and become a day-to-day inspiration.

You've shared what you'll be taking away from embodying Lady Godiva, but what do you hope the impact will be on audiences, especially chocolate lovers?

If you're a fan of chocolate, it's already likely you know Godiva, but it's more than just a delicious bite—it's a day-to-day treat and a little escape that you can treat yourself to. To get through the day sometimes, I give myself some fuel with a pep talk, a nice cup of coffee, or indulging in chocolate. Those things are special and personal and really fun.

Can you share any details of your portrayal of her? I'm interested in historical beauty, and I know you've previously stepped into roles that have transported viewers to different moments in time.

That's a really good question! The story of Lady Godiva, even as the name brand for chocolate, says a lot. [The tradition] of having this woman be their longtime "spokesperson" or symbol continues to be carried on—but in a new way. My work with Godiva has been completely opposite in terms of the aesthetics.

My clothing is sort of like a cat burglar with a modern-day sleek touch. There's a nod to Lady Godiva, but it's more mod and isn't without a sense of humor. I did really push to ride the horse naked, but that did not happen.

It is part of the legend! I don't know if it's ever been proven that the ride actually happened, but I am excited to see your version of Lady Godiva come to life. Are we going to see the same mod vibes reflected in the makeup? Will you be blonde?

No, I just went blonde for a movie I'm doing now. It's a fun little change, and I'm enjoying it! I've been a redhead for the last year for the first half of my campaign with Godiva, and I think it's fitting. As far as the beauty, I think there's a more modern take on the cat eye going on there.

I'm getting married this year (five months to go, give or take!), and as much as I'm trying not to inject wedding talk into the majority of my conversations, I can't help but comment when I see a painfully chic tablescape or ethereal glam moment. What can I say? Bridal inspiration abounds!

Leighton Meester's "Parisian-style pull-back" she wore at The Buccaneers season two premiere in NYC, a look I immediately knew all the 2025 brides (self very much included) would immediately send to their respective artists. Everything is certainly subjective, but I have a strong feeling that Leighton Meester's newest look just proved that one trend has major staying power: rosettes.

Close your eyes and picture this scene: It’s September 19, 2007, at approximately 9 p.m. Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? 

If you were a 20-something college student like Tyler McCall, Casey Lewis, and me, odds are you were sitting on the couch with your roommates and tuning in to the series premiere of Gossip Girl on The CW. Back when must-see TV was actually a thing you had to pencil into your schedule, it didn’t take long for the highly anticipated adaptation of the young-adult book series by Cecily von Ziegesar to earn a spot in our lineup of weekly shows. 

Looking back at what was arguably among the last cohort of non-streaming TV sensations (Gossip Girl counts both Mad Men and Breaking Bad as contemporaries) offers not only the welcome respite of nostalgia but also an amusing glimpse into the now-questionable costumes, personal style, and fashion statements of our beloved Upper East Siders. (I don’t know about you, but I never want to see another bubble hem again!) 

As the IRL minions of Blair Waldorf, Serena van der Woodsen, and the rest of the Constance Billard School for Girls gang, it’s hardly a surprise that McCall, Lewis, and I all went on to not only pursue careers in fashion media but also spent time at digital editors at Teen Vogue. While you are likely familiar with McCall for her current role as editor in chief of Fashionista, you might also know and love her as the mind behind #WaldorfWednesdays on Instagram. Similarly, while Lewis is an editor at New York Magazine by day, she spends her leisure time curating @ThankYouAtoosa, the delightful throwback account in which she chronicles the hits (and misses) of teen magazine culture from the ’90s to 2010s. 

And who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell. 

Just kidding. Like Little J, I tend to lurk a bit more on the fringes as the content strategy director here at Who What Wear, but I low-key wrote a master’s thesis on the evolution of female characters on television—no joke. If that doesn’t make us some of the most qualified Gossip Girl fans out there, then, by all means, please introduce me to our new queen bee. 

So while prep school uniforms and empire waists may not be making a comeback in our closets anytime soon, it’s safe to say that The Met steps will always hold a special place in our hearts. Prep School Perfection

"I always loved Blair and Serena's everyday school outfits way more than their gala gowns or super fashiony, extremely Eric Daman-y looks. I grew up desperately wishing I wore a school uniform, and even though real school uniforms looked nothing like the ones on Gossip Girl, I obsessed over their poufy, pleated skirts and crisp button-downs. I would have been laughed right out of my high school if I showed up in knee-high socks and flats, but man, Blair and Serena made it look cool." — Lewis

"When it came to the school uniforms, the show really hit its stride in season two. Did they push the boundaries of what might pass the dress code at an elite private school in Manhattan? Sure. Did Blair know how to kill it in a cape? Absolutely. And what, you didn't wear a bejeweled headband to school? Okay. (I found this exact headband by Jennifer Behr in the corner of her sample sale, and I have never been prouder of my shopping prowess.)"  — McCall

"I'll be honest: I went to a prep school where my classmates and I looked nothing like this, ever. Our dress code of collared shirts, blazers, and chinos was decidedly masculine (the school transitioned from all boys to co-ed in the '70s but neglected to consider female bodies in the dress code until at least 2010), so seeing Blair and Serena on screen gave me a glimpse of what might have been. That said, white button-down shirts are still a staple in my wardrobe, so thank you, Ralph Lauren." — Elovitz

"Season one, in my opinion, was as good as it got as far as Gossip Girl fashion went. How flawless were these dresses? I remember reading about Abigail Lorick in Teen Vogue—if my memory serves before Gossip Girl came out—and I just thought she was the coolest. I think Eleanor Waldorf's fictitious fashion line was based on Lorick, and in my mind, the designer (a former Ford model) was basically another character on Gossip Girl because her clothes were so Blair Waldorf. She may have even made a cameo on the show?" — Lewis

"The jumping-off point of inspiration for Serena was Kate Moss, which meant over-the-knee boots became something of a staple for her. I have doubts about whether these would fly at a real private school, but they still look incredible. I always was more of a Blair than a Serena, but that never stopped me from desperately wanting a pair of Stuart Weitzman's iconic thigh-high boots." — McCall

Special Occasions

"My hands-down, all-time-favorite look from Gossip Girl is Blair's outfit from the first Thanksgiving episode, "Blair Waldorf Must Pie." First, it must be said that this is the best episode of GG. Second, it's just quintessential Blair, from the lacy Marc by Marc Jacobs dress to the bow-patterned tights. I bought a similar pair from Forever21 at the time and wore them to death. Maybe that's why I still can't get enough of a novelty tight?" — McCall

"I spent several years wearing empire-waist, babydoll dresses and patterned tights because Blair Waldorf did. Both things looked truly awful on me, but they were made for Blair. I still dream about her lace Marc Jacobs dress on the perfectly named season one Thanksgiving episode, "Blair Waldorf Must Pie!” The Trina Turk capelet is really quite ugly, but it's so, so 2007, and that makes me love it." — Lewis

"Because Gossip Girl always started around the same time school came back into session, we never saw very many summery looks on the show, which was a shame. But when we did—like on season two's debut episode, "Summer, Kind of Wonderful," costume designer Eric Daman knocked it out of the park. I'm still obsessed with Blair's look from the white party, a scalloped Marc by Marc Jacobs dress and a floral Jennifer Behr headband. So dreamy." — McCall

"Spoiler alert: I fell more in love with Blair's (second) wedding dress than she did with the man she was going to marry in the series finale. I don't know if it was the conclusion of my favorite show that was giving me all the feels or what (hey, it certainly wasn't her groom), but if I had a secret wedding Pinterest board, this Elie Saab Couture 2012 gown in baby blue would be the only thing on it." — Elovitz

"'Iconic' is a bit overused at this point, but there's no other way to describe Serena's very first outfit on Gossip Girl's pilot episode. The striped Petit Bateau shirt, the leather blazer in the most perfect shade of camel, the little pop of yellow in the form of the handkerchief. I can't think of another time she dressed so understated, but it suits her so well." — Lewis

"Unsurprisingly, I related to Jenny's wardrobe most when she was doing her best Blair Waldorf impersonation toward the end of the first season. There were lots of pastel shades and darling socks. Sure, she would become a bleach-blonde goth in just a few short years, but we'll always have the memories of sweet Little J." — McCall

"How could we skip the legendary Chuck Bass scarf? Chuck's style went off the rails by the end of the show (remember the time he was dressed like Prince George?), but early on, his preppy Upper East Side uniform worked so well for him, and the J. Press scarf looked so good with all of his popped collars and fancy layers." — Lewis

"Like many of my fellow Gossip Girl fans, while we may have aspired to be a Blair or Serena, it was often easiest to relate to Jenny Humphrey. I don't know that it could be called a glow-up, but to say that Little J went through a serious style evolution during the series's six seasons would be a major understatement. As Tyler points out, Jenny started off by emulating Blair's style, then gradually embraced her Brooklyn-bad-girl side as the show progressed. Jenny traded in her preppy headbands, bows, and bright colors for layers upon layers of black eyeliner, offbeat accessories, and an essential leather jacket. While Jenny's anti-establishment new persona lost me along the way (let's face it: you live in a loft in Dumbo, dear), I'll always appreciate how the changes in her character's costumed reflected her growing confidence as an individual." — Elovitz

Hey, Upper East Siders—remember Gossip Girl? The now-iconic late-noughties drama, where preppy teenagers galavanted around New York City, acting like adults and wearing designer clothes? Well, the series is set for a return this summer, as HBO Max is said to have a reboot in the works.

And while we are, of course, hoping the new series contains just as many dramatic plotlines as the original, we are equally as excited to see what the new set of Gossip Girl costumes will look like. Will there be a new Queen B who will parade around in preppy-patterned looks and signature hair accessories? Will someone fill the Serena Van Der Woodsen–shaped hole in our lives by offering a plethora of boho-chic outfit inspiration?

Between Blair Waldorf and best friend, Serena, Gossip Girl's original iteration acted as an aspirational mood board of sorts, containing an array of outfits we loved but would likely never have the chance to wear. And though the characters attended an elite private school on New York's Upper East Side, they also happened to have the most relaxed uniform policy I've ever seen, with each student allowed to liberally add their own flair and accessories alongside their school clothes.

So what will Gossip Girl character costumes look like in 2020? Our bets are on a mixture of Chanel tweed skirt suits, OTT embellished Miu Miu tops and cardigans, Dior-inspired school uniform dressing (featuring plenty of plaid) and a few preppy Prada pieces thrown in for good measure.

Our New-Season Gossip Girl Costume Predictions

Not to be dramatic or anything, but Gossip Girl shaped a lot of my personal style growing up. Between the way the characters styled their uniforms (I wore a uniform from second to 12th grade) to the many different brands and designers I was introduced to throughout the series, when I think of this show, I think of the fashion more than the drama, and that's saying a lot. Yes, much of the fashion and styling seem dated now, but every once in a while, I like to take a look back at some of the outfits from the show to see how I can re-create them in the present time.

That's exactly what I did in an effort to uncover as much winter outfit inspiration as possible. There is just something about my winter wardrobe that leaves me feeling a tad uninspired more often than not, so turning to things like Instagram, street style, and now, Gossip Girl help get my wheels turning. Including everyone from Blair to Jenny, see some of my favorite winter Gossip Girl style moments and shop the pieces you'll need to re-create the seasonal looks.

This simple and tonal look is exactly what I imagine wearing to the theater or a holiday party during the winter. You know, those nights where you can't fathom wearing another pair of boots so you suck it up and brave the cold in some sleek sandals just for one night.

We all know Blair Waldorf had her fair share of impeccable outerwear, but it was how she styled it all that really made her a fashion icon. Taking cues from this look here, I shall be investing in leather gloves and pretty ruffled blouses to take all of my winter coats to new sartorial levels. 

Serena typically had a more bohemian-inspired wardrobe that really wasn't for me, but this simple knee-high boot styling is something I could get on board with. My coat choice would be this one here, but as far as the skinny jeans and boot coloring goes, I'm fully on board.

Winter whites can seem cliché, but as an avid Christmas lover myself, I'm all about the cheese this time of year. Since Blair really knew her designers, I figured why not pull out all the stops and shop out luxury pieces I think she would 100% approve of.

I remember looking at this uniform styling when I was in high school and truly contemplated applying it to my uniform at the time, which would have resulted in detention, so I never did. But now that I am uniform-free and, well, an adult, I plan on snatching up the next pleated skirt I can find and wearing it with all my chunky sweaters and boots alike.

This look is all about the color inspiration. What was once considered a bit too 2000s for my taste, this pink-and-green duo now feels like just the fresh coloring my winter needs.

Right up there with Sex and the City and The O.C., Gossip Girl has solidified itself as one of fashion girls' most-beloved TV shows. Now, the show is coming back to the small screen 12 years after first introducing us to the iconic Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf. According to Deadline, the reboot will be aired on the forthcoming HBO Max streaming service, which launches in spring 2020. It appears as if the show will feature a fresh cast, as it's focused on a "new generation" of teenagers. However, we're keeping our hopes up for cameos or other roles to be offered to the beloved cast.

The show will be written and executive produced by Joshua Safran, the same showrunner as the original version. Deadline revealed what the premise of the reboot is: "Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years." Color us intrigued. I’m not writing this story because I’m obsessed with Blair Waldorf, although I’m fairly certain I used to be. I’m writing it because Blair was pretty much my “introduction” to lingerie. When Gossip Girl first came out, I was in high school. I remember being so entranced by the show that I would wake up extra hour early to watch a new episode before I went to school in the morning, whereas now, the thought of waking up extra hour early for anything makes me want to riot. While yes, the fashion, drama, and anticipated gossip hooked me for many more years, it was Blair’s lingerie drawer that actually taught me something.

Up until that point in my young life, I had known what lingerie was from magazines, the intimidatingly perfect ads I would walk by in the mall, and PG-13 scenes in movies. It was for sex. It was a sex costume, if you will. It wasn’t until seeing Blair Waldorf, a “high school” girl (age casting in the show wasn’t its strong suit, but stick with me) wearing statement-making lingerie nearly every day of her life for just her, that I realized lingerie isn’t for suitors—it’s for me. For some reason, the scenes where she would come home from school or an event sans date, take her clothes off, and reveal a full-on corset, garter belt, and coordinating tap shorts; a stunning little black slip dress and thigh-high stockings; or simply the prettiest balconette bras I’ve ever seen were when I realized I officially had lingerie all wrong.

Fast-forward to present day, and I still catch myself thinking of lingerie as something that should be worn on, erm, special occasions. I’ve written time and time again about the importance of wearing lingerie for yourself and why it’s important to place care and love into your négligée drawer, but I hadn’t really believed it for myself until I tried it.

I decided if I ever wanted my perception of lingerie to change, I had to commit to actually wearing it in my day-to-day life, especially during a time when I am not in a relationship. That’s right, folks—I committed to wearing Blair Waldorf–inspired lingerie (also known as the really, really pretty kind) underneath all my clothes for a week straight. Spoiler alert: I did not go on any dates during this time and did not walk away with a partner. The transformation you’re about to read about does not revolve around potential dates or their perception of me—it revolves around me and my perception of me, and let me tell you I’ve never felt better.

Monday

Lacey black lingerie on a Monday? You’ve got it. I went to a workout class this morning, meaning I had to change into my fancy set in a less-than-ideal setting. I loved the idea of packing my matching underwear set in my gym bag and loved getting ready at the gym wearing just my tattoo bra with my black silk skirt while putting on my makeup even more. I opted out of putting my shirt on while getting ready because, for one, it was really hot in there, and second, I felt really good in it. The bra, I was less nervous about, but the underwear really had me stressed. A lace and satin thong seemed less than ideal for a day of sitting at my desk, but I was pleasantly surprised. After that, I threw on a tropical short-sleeve button-down and some sandals, and I was out the door.

This might be TMI, but since it was day one, I kept forgetting I was wearing something special underneath my clothes until I would go to the restroom. Being reminded that I had one of the prettiest bra-and-underwear sets as the foundation of my look put a little extra pep in my step for the rest of the day. The underwear was comfortable, as was the bra, and although nothing out of the ordinary happened that day, I went to bed feeling a little smitten and excited for Tuesday’s lingerie look.

Tuesday

This set is really fun, what with the neon floral appliqué, silky pink satin straps, and something I hardly ever wear—briefs. Personally, I’m not a fan of visible panty lines, so I threw a loose-fitting dress on top of the set just in case. I didn’t realize this until it was pointed out to me later that evening at a dinner, but the neon appliqué was a little bit visible through my light blue dress. A friend asked me what kind of bra I was wearing because she could see hints of the flowers and knew it had to be fun. That night, I got to explain that I was trying to wear fancy lingerie every day for a week straight, and people were intrigued. Oh, and my briefs were surprisingly comfortable and not visible at all, especially considering the sheer nude back.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, I wanted to go for something a little more outside my comfort zone. Two days in, I had already felt that I’d mastered the art of beautiful matching sets, opting for a white lace demi bra for day three. Imagine a more comfortable version of a corset with straps and cups. Once I put it on, I was almost tempted to wear it on its own as outerwear (which is a huge lingerie trend right now), but then I quickly remembered I was going to work, which might not be the best place to test this trend. I threw on a simple white tank top and another one of my favorite silk slip skirts. While my outfit was simple, this corset-bra-top hybrid had me feeling some type of way all day. It sucked me in and made me sit up straighter at my desk, and although I didn’t end up wearing the bra top solo when I went to drinks with a friend later, I thought about it.

Thursday

After feeling like I’d really gone out on a limb the day prior, I decided to wear more of an everyday set—a navy lace bra and matching hip-hugging underwear. This set felt like I was wearing nothing at all; that’s how soft the lace was. My outfit that day was a simple jeans-and-a-T-shirt look, but the knowledge of my adorable yet approachable lingerie underneath made me feel like I was ready for a night of glamour sans the slinky dress, strappy heels, and pounds of makeup. Instead, I had meetings, a lunch, and a date with the gym later that evening. Nothing to see here—just my elevated underwear drawer that no one knows about but me. I walked with the confidence of someone who had a secret, because I did. I was wearing underwear I was actually proud of and a bra I loved so much I was brainstorming ways to style it as a top and have that be okay.

Friday

The last Summer Friday of 2018 had finally come, but I wasn’t going to let that get me down. So what did I do? I wore one of my favorite lingerie sets to date. Styling this one underneath clothing was tough due to the high-rise briefs, but I was determined to make it work. I paired the set with starchy high-rise wide-leg pants and a ruched top. The wide-leg cut of the pants rid me of any VPL, and the texture of the top hid any lines the lace on the bra would have created. I felt so beautiful wearing this set—something Blair would have taken a liking to, I’m sure of it. When I came home to change that night for drinks with two of my best friends, I almost didn’t want to take it off, but then I remembered one look I wanted to squeeze into my now seemingly short week of dedicated lingerie wearing…

Friday Night

Friday night in New York City—why wouldn’t I wear a pink mini slip dress with a bra, thong, and garter belt to match? As I neared the end of the week, it was time to step it up. If there was anything worth changing out of the aforementioned lavender set for, it was this look, and let me tell you: It was a look. The hue of the dress against my skin tone gave off Carrie Bradshaw “naked dress” vibes, and I loved it. I threw a chain belt around my waist at the last minute to make the outfit a little more me, and I was out the door. Besides the compliments that came from my friends that evening, tons of women came up to me raving about the dress, asking where it was from, and telling me how they needed to start wearing slip dresses out more. Had I done it? Had I started a revolution? Hardly, but the way I felt that night—and, come to think of it, throughout the entire week—had me wondering why I hadn’t cared about what I wore underneath my clothes until now.

Saturday

Saturday morning I had some work to do, so I headed to a coffee shop with my laptop to set up camp. Since I planned on seeing no one that afternoon, I was tempted to save my lingerie wearing for later that evening, but instead, I put on this adorable eyelet lacey duo. On top, I wore a simple T-shirt and, again, my black slip skirt with sneakers. While the bra is definitely adorable, I have to talk about how surprisingly comfortable this satin G-string was. The last time I remember wearing a G-string was in high school, before I discovered there was much more comfortable underwear out there. This one, however, was almost more comfortable than a regular thong. The soft satin material felt like I was wearing nothing at all. What more could a girl ask for while working on a Saturday?

Later that evening, I needed to spice things up. I was going out with a few friends, and after the success of the evening prior, I was feeling particularly enthusiastic. I put on a gorgeous black silk bodysuit and slipped my black satin skirt on top. From far away, it looked like I was wearing a dress, but up close, it was clear that I, in fact, was wearing my lingerie as outerwear—tastefully, of course. Forget crop tops; bodysuits are officially my new “fashion” going-out attire.

Sundays are for getting things done, and this Sunday, I was getting things done while wearing a delicate and delectable lingerie set. While I hate running errands, this stunning two-piece had me feeling excited and ready to tackle the day, which is a feeling I rarely ever have.

For my last hurrah, I decided to ditch my oversize T-shirt and sweatpants for a true Blair Waldorf classic—the slip dress. It’s one thing to wear a slip dress out, but sleeping in it? That surprisingly made me more uncomfortable than any of the styles thus far. As is true for most, I’d wager, my favorite part of my day is taking off my clothes and slipping into something a little more comfortable. The something more comfortable being anything that’s oversize, unattractive, and smells like dryer sheets. Sleeping in anything other than that is completely against my nature. All those movies where the woman goes to bed wearing a slip dress or a matching chemise set just seemed unrealistic to me. But in the name of journalism, I was ready to trade in my embarrassing sleeping garments for a silk-and-lace slip dress. Not only did I go to bed feeling as luxurious as one of those Dove chocolate ads, but I woke up feeling that way too.

My Tips and Takeaways

My experience wearing lingerie for one whole week straight was beyond pleasant. A huge deal of that had to do with the fact that the lingerie I wore actually fit me. Bras weren’t digging into my shoulders, my boobs weren’t spilling out of the cups, and my underwear sat exactly where it was supposed to. Journelle and Victoria’s Secret were kind enough to each give me a private fitting so I would know exactly what kinds of bras and underwear fit my body type best and which sizes are right for me. If you are feeling inspired to update your lingerie drawer, I suggest you get fitted at a store you love beforehand. That way, you’ll be stocking your refreshed drawer with pieces you know you’ll wear for years to come.

If you lived through the mid-aughts, the name Blair Waldorf should instantly conjure up the phrase Upper-East-Siders along with visions of headbands, belts, and platform heels. In television series like Sex and the City and Gossip Girl, the costumes are arguably as important—and revealing—as the dialogue. The Upper East Side of the 2010s wouldn't have been the same without Blair Waldorf's headbands, coloured tights and blazers. Carrying on from being hugely popular in 2017, double-breasted, checked blazers are still going strong. They were an essential part of Blair's uniform, although today you'd be more likely to wear yours with jeans and a tee rather than clashing prints and cute accessories.

Blair Waldorf would probably be one of Alessandro Michele's most loyal customers, as the Gucci bow printed shirts, top-handle handbags, loafers and colourful tights and socks are so Blair.

6. A Beret In Every Colour

Even if you've only watched one episode of Gossip Girl, you'll know that Blair loves her headgear, and this season, she'd swap her headband for a beret.

7. Vibrant Outerwear

Blair will never be a girl who wears black and navy, as she always plays with bright colours, so she'd most certainly approve of this season's bold suits. We think she'd have one in red, pink, yellow and baby blue.

London Fashion Week coincided with the 10th anniversary of Gossip Girl, and as a Blair Waldorf superfan, I couldn't help but look at the catwalk trends through a Blair lens. The preppy, overly polished look might not be very 2017, however, several of her signature pieces from red tights to embellished headbands featured in the biggest shows on the schedule. Ladylike Gloves

Erdem was inspired by royal style, and Blair Waldorf was the "Queen of the Upper East Side" with a stately wardrobe fit for any royal function. Remember that she did briefly become part of Monaco's royal House of Grimaldi when she married Prince Louis. Erdem's ladylike gloves, embellished colourful gowns, elaborate earrings, colourful shoes worn with tights and bows on everything looked like they'd come straight from Blair's mind.

Coloured Tights and Socks

Blair Waldorf was the "dictator of taste" of the Upper East Side, and she was especially vigilant when it came to how her group wore hosiery. Nelly Yuki famously said, "Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night shouting, 'Tights are not pants!'" Blair would have approved of Preen's red rights, and colourful ribbed knee-length socks work with pretty, printed Mary Janes.

At Erdem, everything was adorned with colourful, preppy bows that were so very Blair.

Who else is ready for Gossip Girl to come back? Because I definitely am. As an avid fan of the series from day one, I remember fawning over the stylish aesthetics of Serena and Blair, praying I would one day be as chic as they were. Okay, I’ll admit I still try to be as chic as they were, but in a more current and approachable way. As an avid Zara shopper (seriously, I have proof), I always try to imagine what the women I admire, both fictional and not, would purchase from the fast-fashion retailer.

It might sound weird, but it’s actually a fun way to switch up your approach to shopping for yourself whenever you’re not feeling your everyday go-to style. For example, when I have a special event to attend, I try to channel the likes of Serena for her timeless glamour, and for a luncheon, the girly Upper East Side je ne sais quois Blair will be forever known for, but I digress.

In just a few days, on March 5, Leighton Meester’s series Making History will debut on Fox, marking her biggest TV project since Gossip Girl went off the air in 2012. Despite the passing time, it’s not uncommon for us to still associate her with the Blair Waldorf role—and wardrobe—she made so iconic. While her new onscreen character (Deborah Revere, daughter of Paul) will have Meester in a wardrobe of corsets and pre-Revolutionary garb, make no mistake: Neither Waldorf nor Miss Revere is any real indication of the actress’s style. “This is really my everyday look,” she revealed to Who What Wear on the set of Bydie’s latest shoot, wearing an outfit of leggings, a tank top, and pink sneakers.

While Waldorf’s preppy Upper East Side style can still be considered a relevant fashion-world reference, Meester says that dressing the part didn’t change her own personal style—at all. “Kind of the opposite. Really what I wear every day and what makes me feel most comfortable and at my best are jeans, T-shirts and button-downs, sweaters, boots, and sneakers. I do have a couple of dresses I throw in there occasionally,” she says.

The star even goes on to claim, “There is no way to make heels more comfortable.” Her advice: “The only thing you can do is buy your shoes a little larger and get padding inside—that’s always nice.”

So what does the actress and singer really wear—when there’s no Chanel or 18th-century wardrobe necessary? “I just like simple black leggings with a fitted T-shirt or tank and my Nike sneakers,” she says. “My gut instinct with leggings is not to pair them with something tight on the top. But that’s actually a mistake because it looks nice to wear something tight on top, too. The L.A. look is very much to look like you’re always exercising.”

Blake Lively may have admitted to not being the biggest fan of Gossip Girl, but there is no doubt her character influenced pop culture and fashion. In fact, Lively fessed up about taking a dress from Serena van der Woodsen's stylish closet as a memento. A quick image search of “Leighton Meester and Adam Brody” yields exactly three official events: a New York bash back in 2012, the Tony Awards red carpet in 2014, and a Los Angeles TV show premiere last night. Suffice it to say, the couple isn’t big on making public outings together, so Tuesday night’s appearance proved quite rare.

The duo looked adorable at the event, which celebrated Brody’s new show on Crackle, StartUp. Wearing a lace tank and high-waisted black pants, Meester flashed her engagement ring and wedding band in the photo. Their low-key tendencies should come as no surprise, however, considering their marriage in 2014 was top secret. For the fashion girl, watching TV is more than just a hobby or time for relaxation—so many TV shows are a great source for studying up on the latest fashion trends! According to costume designer Eric Daman in an interview with The Huffington Post, Serena's nonchalant je ne sais quois was modeled after Kate Moss. In complete contrast, Blair's totally put-together chicness was based on a mix of the old-school glamour of Audrey Hepburn and the meticulousness of Anna Wintour. We can totally see it now that we know, and we love each of their style aesthetics all the more for it.

Sure, we said our final XOXO to Gossip Girl over three years ago, but that doesn’t mean the cult favorite doesn’t hold a special place in our hearts. Netflix binge, anyone? One of our favorite parts of the show was (well, still is) the style. It's hard to believe that Gossip Girl ended almost three years ago, in 2012. But let's face it: Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen are still very much a part of our lives. No, not solely in the form of Saturday rerun-binges, but with their everlasting style advice. 

So in honor of one of our favorite shows (we're guessing yours, too!), take a walk down memory lane and re-live some of the best fashion quotes from the series.

In season four, episode one, “Belles de Jour,” Blair says to Serena while in Paris, “Stop whatever you’re doing. We need to shop.”

As Blair told a fellow student in season two, episode seven, “Chuck in Real Life,” “Tights are not pants.” Truth.

In season four, episode one, “Belles de Jour,” Serena says “I fall asleep thinking about guys named Louboutin and Laurent” when talking about her promised retail therapy in Paris.

In season four, episode 13, “Damien Darko,” Blair says to Dan, “Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design, and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be. Just like your scarf shows the world you’d like to be a used car salesman.”

In episode three, episode 16, “The Empire Strikes Jack,” Gossip Girl says, “If you are what you wear, you better dress the part you want. A few lucky ladies can do no wrong. Their looks: perfection. In season three, episode 13, “The Hurt Locket,” Blair says, “You know how torturous it is for me to find shiny things that aren’t intended for me,” when talking with Chuck about his mother’s locket. It’s so true—beautiful jewelry is just too hard to pass up.

In season one, episode five, “Dare Devil,” Blair tells Jenny, “As my mother always says, “Fashion knows not of comfort. All that matters is the face you show the world.” And your face looks like it's going to bat mitzvah.”
