So whatever Dua wears, I want to wear. Yes, she has incredible taste and seems to have the kind of closet most of us would only dream of owning a fraction of. But part of me also feels, wishfully so, that maybe if I dress like her I could manifest a life like hers. She also often pulls off things in ways I couldn't ever imagine. I’ve had this jacket for a short while, but it looks like a million others I’ve owned before. And that’s exactly what struck me. The brown leather blazer isn’t new; it’s a constant for me. A piece that moves through my style, and all its variations, without ever really disappearing.

What’s interesting is everything it contains without appearing to. There’s something very ’70s about it, in a Ralph Lauren kind of way, ultra bohemian, somewhere between Woodstock and the plains of Texas. At the same time, there’s something more sensual, more sharply cut, very Alaïa in the ’80s, that idea of the body, even under a jacket. And then, of course, a more intellectual, slightly offbeat rigor—very Prada under Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada, that mix of seriousness and subtle disruption.

What’s reassuring is that it exists at every level. You can find great ones vintage, already softened, already lived-in—with a history you didn’t experience but adopt without thinking. There are more fashion-forward versions, very right, like at Ba&sh, that reinterpret that balance between structure and ease. And then there are the ones that mark a moment—and, let’s be honest, a bank account. I have a Prada one I bought to celebrate one of the most important moments of my life.

For the past month, it’s basically all I’ve been wearing. And what I’ve understood is that this jacket works with everything. In a very ’70s version, beige flare jeans laced at the waist, a white T-shirt, cowboy boots, you get a silhouette that feels almost obvious, somewhere between Betty Catroux in Yves Saint Laurent and backstage images of Led Zeppelin. A kind of controlled nonchalance, where the brown leather warms everything up without weighing it down. It’s simple, almost too simple, and that’s exactly why it works.

As soon as you shift into something more casual—light blue baggy jeans, white sneakers, a short-sleeved striped shirt—the tone changes completely. It becomes something very early 2000s, almost normcore before its time, but with fashion awareness. The striped shirt could easily lean very preppy, but the suede leather blazer immediately disrupts that reading, like a destabilizing element that keeps the silhouette from becoming too proper.

And then there’s the evening version, the one I find most interesting precisely because it avoids all the expected codes. It’s all about balance. And then the shoes, zebra print, in my case. A slightly absurd detail that recalls certain Miu Miu or Saint Laurent silhouettes, where one element deliberately throws everything off. Without it, the look would feel too smooth. With it, it becomes cool.

In the first days of 2026 alone, Jacob Elordi has debuted not one but two leather ties, and both were designed by the actor's close friends at Bottega Veneta. They're subtle, sexy, and luxe in an almost surprising way. An accessory that could easily look, well, tacky is anything but that when done right. It, of course, helps that it was Elordi who wore it, and he combined the leather tie with two custom-tailored suits courtesy of the Italian house's new creative director, Louise Trotter.

It was black with a subtle shine, and he paired it with a navy-blue double-breasted suit, a gray shirt, and black Intrecciato shoes, all from Bottega Veneta. He finished off the look with red-tinted sunglasses—the same pair he wore at last night's Critics Choice Awards.

On January 3, Elordi kicked off award season in Palm Springs at the 37th annual Palm Springs International Film Awards, where he once again wore Bottega Veneta. This time, he donned a custom-made single-breasted suit in a soft oat that was very appropriate for the event's location. What was less expected for Palm Springs was his Fondant leather tie, which only made the accessory more buzzworthy.

Everything, of course, was tailored to perfection, and his leather tie offered just the right amount of texture and depth to the otherwise void-like ensemble.

With award season just beginning, I have a feeling this won't be the last time we spot Elordi in a leather tie, especially given how much attention Frankenstein and his portrayal of the titular character are receiving. If the accessory's impact is as dominant as Chalamet's famed bib, we'll likely spot it on others before the run of award shows ends with the Oscars all the way in March.

As much fun as a viral product can be to incorporate into your usual rotation, nothing feels better than buying something that won't be considered "out" in a few months or even years. It's also worth noting that $600 is quite good for a leather jacket as elevated and luxurious as the one I'm eyeing, as most comparable ones are well above $1K.

Arguably, no piece of outerwear has shaken the fashion world in the last year quite as significantly as the leather bomber jacket. They're inescapable, but then again, why would anyone want to escape them?

Ana's take on the jacket: "If I could be buried in a jacket, let it be this one from The Frankie Shop. I've always shied away from motorcycle and bomber jackets for some reason—perhaps it's because I'm always scared I'll look too much like a Harley-Davidson-sponsored biker in them. But, truthfully, since trying on this jacket, I've already stopped by The Frankie Shop's SoHo store to officially make it mine. Like most jackets from The Frankie Shop, this one runs a little big, so be sure to size down if you want a piece that feels more structured and less slouchy."

Styling tips: What makes a leather bomber jacket essential is its versatility. It can be dressed up or down, be used as a replacement for a blazer or trench coat, and automatically adds some edge and masculinity to an outfit, making it the perfect piece to pair with traditionally "pretty" pieces, like lace-trim slip skirts. Of course, you can easily go the Saint Laurent route and style a leather bomber jacket with knife-like stilettos, but a casual pair of flip-flops goes with the top layer just as well. Shop the jacket: The Frankie Shop Viper Jacket ($817)

This particular bomber by The Frankie Shop has too many cool, unique details to count. From the large pockets to the epaulettes on each of its sloped shoulders, everything about it is intentional. We especially love the two-way silver zipper, which gives wearers the ability to easily show off whatever they've decided to style underneath it, be that a brightly colored cardigan or a silky midi dress. Just remember that it is intended to be oversize, so if you're hoping to add a more classic-fitting leather bomber jacket into your wardrobe, size down.

Next, Who What Wear's senior fashion editor Eliza Huber tried on one of the industry's favorite leather bombers, Nour Hammour's Clint Leather Jacket. Hear all about her thoughts on the soft, almost vintage-feeling outerwear option, which comes in both black and brown, below. Eliza's take on the jacket: "The leather on this jacket is some of the best-quality leather I've ever worn, something I've heard about Nour Hammour but have never witnessed up close until now. It definitely has a vintage feel to it—similar to the bomber jacket I have of my dad's from the '80s, but with some modern updates. I also appreciated the fit of this style. It's not too oversize but not cropped. It feels just right for wearing either as a top layer or as a top, which is what I did with Chloé bubble shorts."

Styling tips: Since Nour Hammour's Clint jacket does have more of a close fit to it, it's a perfect choice for anyone who wants their leather-jacket investment to double as a top. Just zip it up and style it as you please. No matter what, it'll be the star of your look, whether you decide to wear it with a simple pair of stovepipe jeans, a funky skirt, cigarette pants, or in Eliza's case, a teeny-tiny pair of Chloé bubble shorts. When the weather starts to turn come fall, rework the piece by layering a cashmere sweater and white tee underneath for warmth.

This lamb-leather option has more than just great looks going for it. Nour Hammour also uses lower-impact materials in the production process, including responsible leather, manufactured and sourced to meet the standards of the Leather Working Group, a global nonprofit that's committed to making leather-goods production more sustainable.

We did, indeed, save the favorite for last: Saint Laurent's spring/summer 2025 leather jacket, tried on by Who What Wear's fashion editor Sierra Mayhew. Find out if she thought the $6100 '80s-inspired jacket, made entirely of lamb leather, is worth splurging on. Well, that, and see how she styled the camel version of it. Sierra's take on the jacket: "Straight off the runway, this jacket made me feel like I walking around in a work of art. Every detail was exquisite, from the natural fading on the leather to the buttons. A nod to the '80s, the return of the bomber jacket is going to look especially good if it's done in this style. I like how there are two options to wear it, long and undone, or zipped up and folded under. This is the investment piece that is so versatile, it’s worth the scary price tag. Layering it this spring and then breaking it out again come fall is the move."

Styling tips: The rich, cognac color of this leather jacket, a trend we most often see in black or dark brown, makes it a treat to style. You can go so many ways with it, opting for neutrals and wearing a mix of cream and black, or playing with a range of colors, from pastels to richer jewel tones à la Saint Laurent's S/S 25 bohemian maxi dresses. Here, Sierra kept the expensive vibe going with a black pillbox hat adorned with gold hardware and strappy cream sandals. Big gold earrings would be a chic swap, as would some chunky cuff bracelets.

Saint Laurent's leather bomber jackets—which have been seen on Hailey Bieber, Sofia Richie Grainge, Zoe Saldaña, Bella Hadid, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Chloë Sevigny—are certainly an investment. Over $6K certainly isn't cheap, but if you have the means to add one to your outerwear collection, there's no good reason why you shouldn't. The leather is supple yet durable, and it'll only get better with age. Ten years from now, when you're still wearing the jacket you bought back in 2025, you can give yourself a pat on the back for having the foresight to invest in such a quality runway piece.

Spring is in the air, and like clockwork, I have no idea how to get dressed for the day ahead. The biggest question mark during the transitional period between seasons is what on earth do I wear as outerwear? It's too warm (finally!) for a down jacket but still too chilly for a lightweight denim or canvas coat. Thankfully, two of our favorite style stars have pointed us in the right direction: the black leather bomber jacket.

While we wouldn't say that moto jackets are every truly "out," they're definitely losing favor. This spring, we're in the midst of what I feel like is a lightweight jacket renaissance. Never has there been such a plethora of cool, fresh, and forward styles to choose from. It's a great moment for anyone who's dressing for transitional weather or simply likes to use a jacket as the hero piece in their outfit. With the rise of so many new jacket trends, it means that traditional styles aren't popping as much this season and that's true of the good old moto jacket. I'd never go so far as to say it's outdated because I think it's more of a trend-resistant piece, but it's markedly absent these days.

In its place is one jacket that I find to be far more elegant and chic, but no less versatile, and that's a funnel-neck bomber jacket. Funnel necklines have been trending throughout the winter, but the trend is evolving for warmer weather in the form of these lighter bomber jackets that are finished with the tall neckline. They're coming in cool leather options that could easily be a 1:1 swap for a moto jacket, but they're also popping up in denim, nylon, and cotton-twill fabrications, too.
