If summer 2025 trends have proven anything, it's that people were ready for something fresh and new. After a couple of years of subtle, "quiet" trends, experimental, maximalist trends had been waiting in the wings, and the fashion crowd seems to have unanimously decided that it was time to have fun with their outfits again, and in many cases that meant reviving some of the forgotten trends many of us hadn't given a thought to in years. And model Jourdan Dunn just wore one of those revived trends that the fashion crowd has happily embraced this summer.

While attending the Como Cup (an annual football tournament in Italy), Dunn stepped out in a jersey (fitting, given the occasion) paired with denim culotte shorts. As we've been reporting all summer, the return of culottes may have been initially surprising, but it's well on its way to being a mainstream trend. Denim culottes, in particular, are the style I'm seeing far more than short shorts this summer, and when I see someone pair them with sneakers, as Dunn just did, I instantly classify them as an in-the-know fashion person.

I’ll be honest—celebrities haven’t always been my go-to for fashion inspiration. With all the loud prints, bold hues, and statement pieces, I often found them a little too 'out there' for my more pared-back, refined wardrobe. But 2025? It’s changed everything.

From last month’s Met Gala, which featured celebrities showcasing their finest tailoring to pay homage to Black dandyism, to the Cannes Film Festival that took French glamour to the next level, 2025 is the year that celebrities have truly impressed me with their style. And just when I thought they couldn’t top themselves, last night’s Serpentine Summer Party took place.

Each year, the Serpentine Gallery celebrates its newly unveiled pavilion, and 2025’s spotlight was on Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum, whose ‘A Capsule in Time’ installation—crafted from sculptural wooden and bamboo structures—was nothing short of spectacular.

The guest list was no less impressive, including plenty of our favourite fashion icons, from Monroe Bergdorf to Lily Allen, who, instead of the brightly coloured ensembles we usually spot on the carpet, opted for chic monochromatic looks that can easily be adapted into our own everyday wardrobes.

Rounding off a memorable London Fashion Week, Burberry's runway show garnered as much attention for its front-row guests, as it did for the items spotted on the runway. Amongst the A-list crowd were models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jourdan Dunn and singer Kylie Minogue who all made a co-ordinated statement in an unusual shoe style from the British heritage brand.

Sporting high heels in purple and yellow shades, it wasn't the colour, nor the height of the shoe that got us talking, rather the controversial fabric choice that cushioned the sole of the heel. Featuring designs embellished with coloured lamb shearling, Burberry's latest shoe has a fuzzy sole that seeps outwards of the shoe, for an enlarged, cushioned effect. Building upon the fuzzy designs that were debuted last season, Daniel Lee's second Burberry collection explores new embellishments, shapes and colours for the divisive fuzzy shoe.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley styled a Burberry Castleford Trench Coat, £2,190 with Burberry Shearling Step Rose Sandals, £890 to the Burberry runway show at London Fashion Week.

The fuzzy shoe, sported by Huntington-Whiteley, features a stiletto heel, squared toe and large velvet rose that is positioned front and centre of the heel. Styling her statement shoe with a classic Burberry trench, the model fused Burberry's heritage with its new direction for a playful FROW look.

Another proponent of the new shoe was model Jourdan Dunn, who styled her purple fuzzy heel with a head-to-toe tartan look which saw Dunn in a knitted turtleneck, a co-ordinating skirt and tartan-print tights which were finished off with Burberry's satin step fuzz sandals.

Her statement look leans into Burberry's more playful side, which sees the brand mix heritage prints with bold designs for an eclectic collection that subverts its understated roots.

Australian singer and actress Kylie Minogue also opted for the fuzzy heel for the occasion, which she styled in a purple shade with a green leather trench coat. Arguably quite un-friendly for the changeable British Weather, Minogue pushed ahead, styling her look with sheer tights and coordinating purple nails.

Choosing a more traditional take on Burberry styling, actress Jodie Comer wore a strapless grey tartan dress with black knee-high biker boots from the British brand. Forgoing accessories, Comers looks felt fresh and light for the day-time runway show.

Party season has entered the building, and much like we’ll be switching up our ‘out out’ outfits of choice—I’ll take your finest sequin/feather hybrid please and thank you—our beauty looks will be following suit. It makes for a great finish that looks effortless, feels light and deconstructed, yet is cool and on trend.”

As for the low-key hair kit essentials: "Everyone should have a good hairspray and texture spray to really hold everything in place, and if you’re going for the more polished looks always have a good serum on hand. It can execute a look perfectly and take it from day-to-night with a texture switch up,” says Andrew. Also, see heated tools like your blow-dryer and curling tong as your best friends.

"This look has elements of red-carpet drama but a relaxed and thrown together feel,” says Andrew. "The easiest way to achieve this is to blow-dry your hair away from the face and use your fingers to pull it back as it’ll look too sleek if you use a comb – my top tip here is to mix a blow-dry primer and blow-dry serum to give it that high shine-wet look finish without it looking too sleek. Then, take it up all the way back towards the crown and wrap around the base and secure it with a kirby grip, elevating up to a high topknot/bun. Fix in place with hairspray to make sure it stays where it should.”

2. Side Party

Side partings with volume are most certainly having a moment, and can be achieved on most hair lengths. "Using a wide tooth comb and root lift spray, blow-dry the front section in the opposite direction that you want the parting to sit for extra volume,” explains David Wadlow, a London-based editorial and celebrity hairstylist who has worked with the likes of Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and Solange Knowles. "Once it’s dry, flip it to the other side, add a little movement with a small barrel tong and dress it out with a non-drying gel and oil for high shine and hold.”

3. Softly Structured

"For me, you can never beat a great blow-dry with an exquisite finish,” says Andrew. "The key to this look is to keep the movement soft so that the ends are still straight. Use a paddle brush to smooth out the hair without focusing on the ends too much so that they don’t start to kick out. Use the largest tong you have and curl the middle section of hair while holding out the ends to keep them straight. That’s what makes this look stylish and not over polished – the sharp straight ends in contrast to the softness of the hair movement." Complete the look with a product that will add gloss and shine while taming flyaways.

4. Short and Slick

A sleek and sophisticated style that has been seen on the likes of Taylor Russell, Iris Law and Alexa Demie. Annie Redman, hairstylist at Larry King hair salon says this look is easily achievable at home. "Smooth the hair out with a smoothing cream and then blow-dry it in the direction you want it to sit. Because you want it ultra straight, you'll need to then go in with the straighteners. Next, use a finishing oil and comb the hair down to mould it into position. Use a shine spray to finish."

Although I've been a brunette my entire life, as soon as the sun makes an appearance and the temperature soars, I'm always tempted to go lighter. I usually opt for balayage or highlights to give my summer hair colour some dimension, but each summer I feel a jolt of excitement of going just a little bit blonder. In fact, hairdressers and colourists often tell me that once you dabble with blonde, you never look back. However, choosing the right shade of blonde can be an overwhelming decision. So we enlisted the help of Jordanna Cobella, creative director of Cobella Salon and Wella Professionals craft expert, to talk us through blonde hair. Plus, I've saved the best blonde hair colour inspiration that I've found to provide some salon ideas.

What blonde hair colour suits me?

"When choosing the right shade of blonde, it's important to consider your skin tone, its undertone, and also your eye colour," says Cobella. "For people with cooler skin tones, ashier, cool-toned blonde shades suit them best. For warm skin tones, I recommend golden, honey-toned shades." It's also important to consider the maintenance that comes with going blonde. Depending on your hair colour and the colour application method that your hair colourist uses, you may need regular salon appointments to keep your hair colour looking its best. You'll also want to consider how much heat styling you use. "Before going blonde, consider your hair's current condition. Can it withstand going blonde? Think about your lifestyle. Going blonde can require regular upkeep to ensure it looks its best, with hair treatments or salon visits to liven up your blonde," she says.

What products are best for blonde hair?

To best prepare your hair for blonde, Cobella recommends some home haircare. "To make sure your hair is at its healthiest before going blonde, apply regular hair treatments, such as hair masks and oils. As well as treatments, selecting a good shampoo and conditioner is important to ensure your blonde hair colour lasts for longer. There are a lot of reasons someone might have thinner hair, from genetics to postpartum hair loss. And while hair thinning is more common as we get older, anyone of any age can have thin hair, or fine hair (aka hair that's physically smaller in diameter than its fuller counterparts). That's why, as always, the right haircut can be a total game-changer. 

No matter your hair length or texture, your next cut is just a scroll away. We caught up with three ultra-talented hairstylists—Sanda Petrut of Maxine Salon in Chicago, celebrity stylist Joseph Maine, and Ryan Trygstad of Mark Ryan Salon in New York City—to find out their tips for cutting and styling thin and fine hair, as well as the best products to use for styling it. The Hairstylist: Sanda Petrut of Maxine Salon in Chicago

"So many factors are taken into consideration when choosing a haircut for thin hair," explains Petrut. "Is it thin on top? Is it thin on the sides? Is it thin all over? Is it thin due to illness? Is it thin due to ageing? I also consider features and lifestyle," says the stylist.

Petrut also pays close attention to length and texture. "For thin, straight hair I may choose a shorter haircut with clean lines. Maybe a little graduation or a little layer if hair density supports it," she says. 

"For medium-to-long hair length, I’ll choose a long fringe and/or framing," she says.

Finally, "If hair is wavy or curly I would definitely add layers," she says. "The layers would add volume and the hair would appear thicker."

"Typically, I recommend blunt haircuts or haircuts with very little layering for thin hair because you don’t want to remove density from the ends," says Maine. However, he says, "There are still ways to add shape by face-framing or adding minimal 'hidden layers.'"

For loose, voluminous curls like Jennifer Lawrence's, Maine recommends blowing hair out with a diffuser.

We've only just turned our calendars to February, but love is already in the air (sorry, not sorry). Since 2020 began, we've already had a number of It-girl engagements (like Martha Hunt and Sabina Socol). Jewelry designer Grace Lee lent her expertise on the details of the ring, sharing, "Dunn's oval is approximately 2 carats with a diamond halo using 2mm round brilliant diamonds on a diamond eternity band," and she estimates that the entire ring is approximately 3 carats.

Anyone who knows anything about fashion can agree on one thing: It's cyclical. The latest casualties of post-aught consumerism hit this week like a one-two punch: first, the shuttering of storied department store Barneys New York, followed by the announcement that Zac Posen was ending his eponymous label and would not be producing his recently shown S/S 20 collection.

Yes, fashion lovers everywhere took a blow to the gut last week, but as with any end of an era, it's always nice to take a trip down memory lane and recall our favorite moments from stylish years gone by. Historically, models are known to be tall. In some cases, very tall by most standards. For instance, Karlie Kloss and Elle Macpherson are famously in the 6-feet-and-over club. But what does it really take to make it as a model, at least as far as height goes? We took a closer look.

We surveyed the stature of 40 of the top models we talk about the most. That includes everyone from the Hadids to VS Angels to the icons referred to simply as Kate and Naomi—no last names needed here—in our quest to discover what the average height across the board. And in some good news for the (slightly) more petite women who aspire to model one day themselves, the median number is below 72 inches.

Forty photogenic, runway-walking, magazine-covering, selfie-taking style stars later, and the average model height, according to our calculations, is 5'9.5". Was this number close to your guess?

The annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund show was held in Los Angeles yesterday at the Chateau Marmont hotel and hosted by Kate Spade New York’s Deborah Lloyd, Mark Holgate, Lisa Love, and Emma Stone. The event sees 10 emerging designers hand their collections over to the Vogue team to present them to an A-list crowd, including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Nicole Richie. Following the presentation, the crowd is treated to an L.A.-style tea party to relax and mingle. J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons told Vogue “I think all of the designers are relaxed because they’ve submitted their clothes and someone else is putting them together.”

Supporting emerging talent in the fashion industry is important—it encourages creativity and brings a breath of fresh air to the American fashion industry. Next month, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist will be announced, and will take home a prize of almost $500,000. Not a bad sum for an emerging designer. Past winners have included Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, and Rodarte, so you can be sure that whoever wins, will become a household name.

As Harper's Bazaar pointed out, H&M just unveiled the campaign for its highly anticipated line, and it features, you guessed it, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Jourdan Dunn, posing alongside models Hao Yun Xiang and Dudley O'Shaughnessy on a subway.
