Hilary Duff is currently on the Lucky Me Tour, her first major headlining tour in almost 20 years. (The unenlightened might call it a comeback, but millennials know that she never really left the collective consciousness...not since her Lizzie McGuire days.) As a longtime Hilary Duff fan, I'm living for the fact that she's back in the spotlight. I've been riding with Duff since her Lizzie McGuire days and couldn't wait to get my hands on her new album, Luck… or Something. (Spoiler alert: It's amazing.) But what I was most exited to do was cozy up and hit play on her recent Call Her Daddy interview with Alex Cooper because I knew it would be next-level good. What I didn't expect, though, was to discover a few new haircare favorites via Duff's hairstylist, Barb Thompson.

Thompson used a new-to-me brand called Surface Hair to create Duff's effortless waves for the interview, and boy, am I glad she spilled the tea on this. I received the full breakdown on Duff's look, which included the brand's All-In Leave In Conditioner ($36). I decided to give it a go because it didn't contain any no-no ingredients for my hair (i.e., silicones or coconut oil), and it didn't disappoint. Airport style remains an enduring conundrum, try as we might to figure it out. We want to be comfortable but also put-together. There’s the issue of temperature: The plane will likely be freezing and the airport too warm. The Younger actress—who recently released two new singles, “Mature” and “Roommates,” wrapped up her Small Rooms, Big Nerves mini tour, and announced an upcoming world tour—was spotted at Newark Airport this week wearing a look that screamed effortless sophistication, a characterization I've likely never thought to use to describe a travel outfit in my life. Specifically, she wore an almost entirely gray ensemble, including a charcoal coat, a light-gray polo-neck sweater, and matching trousers. From there, she added simple black kitten heels (either pumps or ankle boots, it's hard to tell, but for recreation purposes, I'd propose the latter) and oval sunglasses. After seeing the outfit, it took me a second to grasp why exactly it makes for such a great travel look, but eventually, I figured it out. There are two essential parts: her all-gray outfit and that playful touch of leopard print by way of her "personal item." Gray is one of those colors that makes every material look chic and sophisticated. We're seeing that now, even with gray sweatpants, which are, indeed, trending. Comfy, loose trousers, a soft knit, and an oversize coat that's great for snuggling up in at 10,000 feet go from boring to elegant when you pick all-gray versions instead of black. Then, the addition of a statement-making print like leopard adds some personality, while keeping the outfit practical. It's a no-brainer formula for easy airport dressing and one I'll absolutely be copying for my next trip through the skies.

If you're a frequent Who What Wear reader, you've probably noticed that we devote a lot of coverage to what to and what not to wear to the airport. For this particular piece of coverage, I'm keeping it simple and putting the focus on what color to wear to the airport, courtesy of Hilary Duff. The color is mocha brown—that perfect in-between camel and chocolate brown hue.

So why is mocha my pick for the ideal airport clothing color? For starters, it's very forgiving, and even coffee spills will go unnoticed. Additionally, it pairs beautifully with every other color, including black (her bag) and chestnut (her shoes). And like other shades of brown, it's supremely polished—even in the form of a sweatsuit. If you missed Hilary Duff the pop singer, I have good news: She just kicked off a mini tour ahead of the release of her new album. Her first stop was in London, and based on the first batch of outfits she's been spotted wearing, it's quickly becoming clear that her suitcases are filled with chic items. One of those is a 2026 basic trend that everyone's currently shopping for: a polo-neck pullover.

Ever since the trend was spotted on a model at the Chanel Métiers d'Art pre-fall 2026 runway show in NYC in December, collared zippered and buttoned pullover sweaters have been on every fashion person's mind, and Duff is clearly one of them. When it comes to fashion, it always pays to be flexible. As much as you might convince yourself that you'd never try a certain trend, you shouldn't be afraid to expand your horizons a bit. If the thought of wearing jeans during this time of social distancing gives you pause, the return of one of the most comfortable denim trends on the planet is upon us, and Hilary Duff just proved it splendidly. Earlier this week, Duff was spotted in her neighborhood with her family wearing loose ripped jeans, which have been due for a comeback, if you ask us. This time around, instead of the heavily ripped jeans that were popular in years past, celebs like Duff, Bella Hadid, and Chrissy Teigen have been choosing ripped jeans with slits at the hems instead of up and down the entire legs. The look gives more of an authentic vintage feel, like the rips might've appeared with wear.

They might have only just ended, but the 2010s were riddled with beauty trends you have probably already forgotten (even if your Facebook memories try their hardest not to let you). Beauty has always been a means of self-expression, but thanks to social media, it became even more of a space to make a statement, large or small. Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest became a go-to source to discover new ideas, reveal new haircuts, swap recommendations, and share opinions on the latest looks, for better or worse. Thanks to this newfound democratization of trends, beauty also became increasingly more inclusive, with many brands embracing people of color and different body types, as well as genderless products.

Of course, celebrities were at the forefront of many 2010s trends, including one famous family in particular. Love them or hate them, there’s no denying the Kardashian-Jenners’ (often controversial) contributions to the industry. (We named Kim one of the 21 women who defined style in the decade for a reason.) The concept of using makeup to exaggerate and visually sharpen the angles on one’s face using different shades of makeup, contouring skyrocketed in popularity thanks, again, to Kim Kardashian West, who shared her technique on Instagram.

The shiny stepsister to contouring, strobing involved piling on the highlighter to play up the cheekbones, as Gigi Hadid demonstrated at a 2015 event.

From the looks of Duff's Instagram, the over-20-hour journey from Los Angeles has yielded plenty of memorable moments, including spotting all of the Big Five animals while on safari.

The end of the year—and decade, for that matter—has everyone reflecting on the past and getting excited about the future. If you've read my Who What Wear stories, you might have caught on that I'm a bit of a TV enthusiast. I recently did a story on the grandma trends I'm stealing from The Golden Girls, and I also took outfit ideas from a trio of TV icons: Rory Gilmore, Rachel Green, and Hilary Banks. But now, I'm probably most excited about the Lizzie McGuire reboot that Hilary Duff is working on. 

Duff first announced the news back in August, and production has already started. She's been sharing tidbits of the filming, and today she blessed us with a real gem: She's reunited with Gordo, played by Adam Lamberg. A quick scan of his IMDb page shows that Lamberg has kept an extremely low profile since the Lizzie McGuire days and hasn't acted since 2008. If you've been living under a rock, allow me to present the best TV news anyone has heard in a while: Hilary Duff will soon be reprising her role as Lizzie McGuire—but this time she'll be in her 30s. It's safe to say we're waiting with bated breath to see what Lizzie has been up to, but we'll have to make do with what Duff herself has been wearing lately. Specifically, she happened to find the best item on all of Free People, and it comes in seven different colors.

Duff joined fiancé Matthew Koma for a movie date night in Los Angeles this week, and her jacket is an undeniably smart investment for fall. Update, December 16, 2020: You can't always get what you want. As excited as everyone seemed to be about the Lizzie McGuire reboot, it looks like the powers that be couldn't make it happen. Hilary Duff just revealed on Instagram that the project, which was first announced back in August 2019, is officially canceled.

Duff cited creative differences over how to portray an "honest and authentic" version of an older Lizzie because it's "what the character deserves." According to Variety, the problems arose from the fact that Duff and her camp wanted a realistically mature show since Lizzie would be in her 30s, but Disney wanted it to remain PG and family-friendly like the original. Here's hoping that the reboot could still happen at some point in the future. In the meantime, I agree with Evan Ross Kratz's tweet, which said: "I'm gonna need a 7-part docu-series about the attempted making of this reboot and where and how things went awry." Originally published on August 23, 2019: If you spent your tweens with Lizzie, Gordo, and Miranda, you're about to squeal with excitement. There may be a lot of television reboots happening these days—hello, The Hills and Gossip Girl—but I happen to believe that this news tops them all. Unlike the aforementioned shows, Lizzie McGuire's number one star, Hilary Duff, is coming back for the new version. 

As The Hollywood Reporter revealed, the reboot will follow Lizzie as a 30-something millennial living in New York City. We imagine there might be significantly fewer headbands and bedazzled jeans this time around, but we can't wait to see how Lizzie is doing in 2019. As THR reports, the show will stream on the forthcoming Disney+ streaming service and the show's original creator, Terri Minsky, is coming back to serve as showrunner. Congrats are in order! Hilary Duff just announced her engagement to singer Matthew Koma. This morning, she shared the news on Instagram by posting a selfie that features a beaming Duff and Koma and a very special ring adorning Duff's left hand. She captioned the photo, "He asked me to be his wife." The two have been dating for several years and brought a daughter, Banks Violet Bair, into the world six months ago.

As for Duff's ring, well, it's an elegant and timeless square-shaped stone that also happens to be one of 2019's most popular engagement ring styles. According to Kathryn Money, VP of Strategy and Merchandising for Brilliant Earth, Duff's ring appears to feature a cushion-cut diamond in a white gold or platinum split shank solitaire setting, and she estimates that the center diamond weighs approximately three to four carats.
