August’s arrival is the home stretch of summer, with the month one of the final moments to escape to some blissful part of the Mediterranean and soak in the last of the scorching temperatures and blue skies. For some, this means checking off one of the many European summer destinations that have been beckoning to us all season. For others, it might mean making the most of this unceremoniously British weather and taking a weekend break to Brighton or Margate. For Kate Moss, however, it means making her annual pilgrimage to the Balearic Islands and putting on quite the spectacle whilst she’s there.

Touching down in Formentera earlier today, the supermodel proved that one’s travel wardrobe need not be limited to whatever you can fit under the seat of your EasyJet flight. Arriving with a coterie of designer accessories, she docked on the port carrying a suite of Hermès bags worth upwards of £50,000. Talk about travelling in style.

In a move that would certainly earn Jane Birkin’s seal of approval—after all, Jean-Louis Dumas was inspired to create the Hermès Birkin after the French actress lamented to him on a flight that her trademark basket bag wasn’t fit to carry all her belongings—Moss stepped out with a Birkin crammed into her left side and a Kelly slung over her shoulder. A girl can only, truly, dream.

Of course, would we expect anything less from fashion’s biggest rock star, Kate Moss? After all, this is the woman who has been wearing pirate boots since the ‘90s, made Hunter Wellingtons a cult item and, at least on one occasion, hung outside of a building window whilst smoking a cigarette. Still, it’s quite refreshing to see something so opulent be used as it’s actually intended to.

To complete the look, she also broke another unofficial style rule by wearing all-black, opting for a sheer dress and French-inspired patent ballet flats. Still, this isn’t the first time the 52-year-old has made headlines, both for her innovative use of an Hermes leather good or unconventional approach to summer holiday dressing.

This time last year, Moss was pictured using a Kelly bag as her beach tote, leaving the bag open as she strolled through the sand with her daughter, Lila. Time will only tell how she will repurpose her collection of luxury items for this trip. But if this is any indication, we wouldn’t be surprised to see her use this to carry around her souvenirs next.

The Hermès fall/winter 2026 story continues. Yesterday evening, the French fashion house unveiled the second chapter of its F/W 26 women's collection in Los Angeles. Set against the backdrop of Bel Air and under the creative direction of Nadège Vanhee, the collection explored the dialogue between movement and craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from performance, dance, and the artistry of dressmaking.

At the heart of the collection were dresses designed to move with the body rather than simply adorn it. Airy silhouettes and intricate detailing reflected the brand's emphasis on rhythm and gesture. As the brand described in its press release, "dressmaking meets dance," with garments serving as the medium of expression.

Interestingly, as a continuation of the first part of Hermès's F/W 26 collection, presented in March during Paris Fashion Week, the second installment felt anything but the same. While the Paris show was enigmatic and restrained, the second part embraced ease and softness. The fabrics floated and shimmered, and the color palette evoked the glow of golden hour.

The Bel Air Estate

As dusk settled over the rolling hills of Bel Air, guests were shuttled by golf cart to a secluded pavilion nestled in the landscape. Upon arrival, they were greeted by a sculptural structure that said, "Silhouettes on the Horizon." Inside, the space was awash in a soft butter-yellow palette, hinting at what the night would bring, while an impressive guest list, including Miley Cyrus, Kerry Washington, and Morgan Stewart, mingled before the show. In true Hermès fashion, iconic handbags were everywhere. Guests carried their Birkin and Kelly bags, showcasing the house's enduring style as the anticipation of the runway collection built.

Golden Hour to Midnight

Consistent with the theme of transformation and movement reflected in the collection's fabrics and silhouettes, the color story evolved as well. It closely tracked the shift from golden hour or sunset to midnight. The first part of the collection featured garments and full ensembles in butter yellow, which the brand referred to in its press release as "jaune fauve." This was followed by "rouge tango," a vivid red echoing the sky when the sun reaches its closest point to the horizon. The collection closed with "vert imperial," comprising deep greens and blacks that symbolize the day's end and the conclusion of the final chapter.

Stable Style

It wouldn't be a new Hermès runway collection without some tie-in to its equestrian roots—one of the most important parts of the brand's identity. Beyond the saddle-making techniques that influence the brand's leather craftsmanship, a few looks incorporated breeches and tight riding pants, while many outfits included calf-hugging knee-high boots.

Ballet Codes

One major theme throughout the collection was ballet and dance. Vanhee focused closely on reinterpreting a dancer's wardrobe—from rehearsal to everyday wear—with luxurious Hermès craftsmanship. Many items, such as wrap outerwear, satin fabrics, and elongated silhouettes, were directly inspired by dancewear. Others, like leather biker jackets and layered coats worn over soft dresses, evoked the image of a dancer transitioning from rehearsal to city life.

Forever Bags

At the heart of Hermès are its bags, so we obviously have to talk about them. While the classic Birkins and Kellys brought by front-row celebrity guests could have been a show in themselves, on the runway, the brand presented a myriad of new bags. And there was a range of silhouettes. Some included structured east-west styles, oversize totes with tapered triangular silhouettes, and relaxed Hobo shoulder bags.

It helps to be one of the most famous people, well, ever, but still, it's a skill she's more than mastered during her 40-year-long career in entertainment.

As a beauty editor, I don't discern products by price. Rather, I discern by performance. Whether I'm shopping for drugstore heroes or high-end investment items, I will openly and gladly declare a product "overhyped" if it doesn't give me exceptional results. Period. That context is critical for what I'm here to discuss today—Hermès's first-ever foundation.

Now, obviously, Hermès is a luxury brand, and its beauty selection reflects that. (It makes sense that the brand that brought us the Birkin Bag is going to produce other investment-worthy items, beauty or otherwise.) Still, I was shocked to see that its foundation costs $145, and I had to know whether it was worth it. So I put it to the test. Ahead, read my truly honest review after using it for two weeks.

Hermès Plein Air Luminous Matte Skincare Foundation

Here it is—Hermès Luminous Matte Skincare Foundation. It was conceived and created by Gregoris Pyrpylis, creative director of Hermès Beauty, to combine high-performance makeup, effective skincare, and a natural-looking result (the trifecta!).

It offers medium coverage and, as the name implies, a matte finish. Unlike the cakey, one-dimensional foundations of yesterday, this is a modern matte formula—it has a velvety cloud-like finish. It also offers 16-hour hold with heat, humidity, and sweat resistance. Oh, and skin benefits.

It's actually more skincare than it is makeup. The foundation has an 82% skincare base with a trio of active ingredients: niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and white mulberry extract. The first is a do-it-all ingredient that smooths, brightens, and improves skin quality. The second is our favorite hydrating hero. And the third is an antioxidant that plumps the skin and protects it from oxidative stress.

That all sounds very impressive, but does it deliver on those promises? And can it really make the complexion look flawlessly, velvety smooth? To answer those questions, I had to put it to the test. See my before and after photos below.

My Review

I have incredibly dry, dehydrated, and redness-prone skin. In fact, I put this foundation through a trial by fire because I used it for the first time during a particularly intense rosacea flare-up. Lo and behold, it disguised my patchy redness without highlighting my dryness and texture. It looked smooth, like a second skin, blurred my pores, and made my complexion look like it had a natural, lit-from-within luminosity. And it continued to do all of those things, hour after hour, day after day, for two full weeks of testing.

Honestly, I feel like my "after" photo doesn't even do it justice. IRL, the foundation looked almost undetectable on my skin, and it didn't cling to fine lines, oxidize, or separate when I kept hitting it with face mist throughout the day. When I added blush, bronzer, and powder on top, it looked nearly flawless.

Needless to say, I'm impressed by this formula, but I strongly feel I should be, seeing as it's so pricey. I'll never claim that anyone *needs* a $145 foundation, but I will say I recommend it if your budget allows it. And I'm officially welcoming it into my list of hall-of-fame foundations for rosacea, which I don't do lightly!

It's also worth noting that Hermès offers an accompanying primer (for a whopping $110 per bottle). I personally didn't use it alongside the foundation since I wanted to put the latter to the test without any help. That said, it's designed to prep the skin and enhance the results of it thanks to a lightweight texture and a smoothing and moisturizing formula.

It's a universal primer that suits all skin tones and melts into the skin, offering a totally transparent finish and a lit-from-within radiance, while blurring pores and smoothing skin texture. It's also heat-, humidity-, and sweatproof.

It was a show about vibe, atmosphere, and a deeply felt aesthetic that hovered somewhere between twilight and night. Hermès wrote about the collection as a moment “when perception heightens and senses sharpen,” calling upon the moment between dusk and dawn, where fading light warps all. This is Hermès, after all, where beauty, craft, and elegance meet in the middle. Plus, seeing an enviable Kelly Bag go down the runway doesn't hurt the glamour, either.

Into the Twilight World

Hermès didn’t just decorate the space—it activated it. The moment you walked in, you felt the show’s concept: that beautiful, fleeting hour of dusk when the world softens and perception sharpens. Hydrated moss decorated the runway while a James Turrell–inspired light fixture washed the runway in the twilight color palette: deep blues and soft shadows, all adding to the overall mood Vanhee aimed to capture this season.

An Intentional Palette

Hermès’s palette this season was less about trend and more about temperature. Think oxblood that felt like the last warmth of sunset, moss green that almost melted into the runway floor, navy that fell into shadow, and mustard that popped like a glint of fading light. These weren’t seasonal colors tossed together hastily—they felt chosen with the same care Hermès puts into its leathers and cuts.

The Best of Bags

Let’s be honest: Hermès doesn’t need to prove that its bags are iconic. But seeing them here felt charged. Classic Kellys, structured Picotins, slouchy Hobo bags (and in unexpected exotic leathers!) weren’t just accessories; they were punctuation marks in a full-look narrative.

While the womenswear felt very dark, certain handbags in brighter and even neon-adjacent colors served as statement pieces for the more adventurous Hermès customer.

Horse-Girl Energy

Hermès’s equestrian roots surfaced with a confident wink this season. While the maison first began with an array of dedicated horse and riding goods, which still exist today, the fusion of equestrian wear and fashion was apparent this season: thigh-high riding boots that serve as fashion statements or jodhpurs, traditional riding pants, that were reimagined in sleeker silhouettes or in modern two-piece cuts.

After-Hours Beauty

Beauty at the Hermès fall/winter 2026 show nearly took center stage as much as the ready-to-wear and accessories. Smoky tones around the eyes, soft contours, and intentional under‑eye dimension read editorial without feeling too conceptual. It read as someone who’s been out all evening, is coming home in the wee hours of twilight, and looks even better doing it.

Hair was understated, barely there, letting the beauty, the lighting, and those beautifully crafted ready-to-wear pieces take center stage.

When Kelly Rutherford joins our Google Meet call, the Gossip Girl alum and "OG Birkin mom," according to the internet, looks as polished as ever, donning a black turtleneck underneath a gray sweater and buttoned-up tweed jacket with thick, oversize black glasses. She looks like she's about to take one of her glamorously nonchalant elevator selfies, which, if you haven't yet had the pleasure of scrolling through the sartorial feast that is her Instagram feed, present an endless source of winter outfit inspo. There's a lot I could ask Rutherford at this moment—I immediately want to know who makes her outerwear, and after some digging, I'm 96% sure it's Penelope Chilvers—yet I ultimately resort to what we don't see in the iconic shots: the beauty picks hiding in her (typically Hermès) bag.

She takes a beat to respond. Rutherford, admittedly, doesn't normally wax poetic on those staples. "Beauty products are tough for me. Talking about fashion is a little bit easier," she tells me with a laugh. It turns out, however, that the actress has some of the chicest beauty recs around, and yes, I took copious notes.

Below, Rutherford reveals the stunning beauty products she'd show off in those mirror selfies, the holiday beauty gifts she'd love to receive this year, and the items Lily van der Woodsen would wear to host a 2025 Christmas party. (The Gossip Girl holiday episodes were always the most iconic.) Alexa, play "Whatcha Say."

To be fair, Rutherford doesn't carry a ton on her person. Her beauty routine as a whole is rather minimal (I wouldn't expect anything less from the quiet luxury queen), consisting of French pharmacy staples and daily supplements—namely from Biosil, which fronts Rutherford as the face of its most recent campaign—that streamline her skincare regimen. "It's always been that way," she says of her "less is more" beauty MO. "My mom dragged me to the makeup counter at 18 years old and was like, 'You've got to put on some makeup and skincare.' I still have to make myself put on stuff, but I do love it. … I've always liked [simple products] for the most part."

When it comes to skincare, clean, simple, and moisturizing is the blueprint. "I do love Caudalie. I've been wearing that [cream] for many years," she shares, also praising Avène's XeraCalm body balm as a fabulous multitasking hero for the wintertime. "It's hypoallergenic, and you can use it on your face, body, everything. It's just a good, very rich cream." Biosil's Advanced Collagen Generator Capsules round out her routine, keeping her skin plump and healthy for the long-haul. "I've known about it for many years and have many friends that have taken it and love it," she shares. "It's such a beautiful, clean product. It's simple, and it works from the inside out."

As for the skincare items she'd take with her on the go and place front and center in her Instagram shot? Lip balms—lots of 'em. Rutherford is quick to rattle off heroes from Hermès ("It's chic and looks good in the purse," she notes), Sonsie, and Rhode as well as a natural shea butter–based formula she recently picked up at a health-food store.

Her makeup routine, however, has a bit more room for experimentation. While she's used the same exact foundation since her Gossip Girl days (Chanel's Les Beiges Foundation, if you're curious), she's recently dabbled in the world of complexion sticks thanks to her 16-year-old daughter. "I saw her one day doing her makeup, and she had just put this concealer stuff on, and it looked so much better. I was like, 'What are you doing?' And she said, 'I'm using this concealer stick just to cover up a little bit.' Now, I've been doing that, and it's amazing. … I think it's by Merit. I don't know if I'll stick with it, but it's been good so far. Gucci Westman makes some good ones too."

A "nice concealer" actually makes a wonderful holiday gift, she tells me—as does a designer lipstick, stylish hairbrush, and luxury cosmetic bag. "It's not always what we buy for ourselves, right?" she quips. After waving her own cream La Bonne Brosse detangler in the camera frame ("It's just so pretty, and it works really great. … You can have them engraved, which is a cool gift," she adds), Rutherford has me fully convinced that the chicest beauty gifts are the ones that double as fashion accessories—beautiful vessels that you can proudly display on your vanity or, if you're Rutherford, showcase in a quick mirror selfie.

In fact, she's worn one of Veronique Gabai's perfume pendants in a previous shot and still swears by the juice today. "[Veronique's fragrances] are very natural, very sophisticated, and the bottles are beautiful," she shares. "You can put a little sample size in the necklace, and it's very chic. She does it in gold and silver."

Her own beauty staples are closely aligned with those of her refined Upper East Side character. According to Rutherford, Lily van der Woodsen would saunter into a festive soirée wearing a designer lipstick and eye shadow ("Probably Hermès"), Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation ("It's old school, but it's still so good"), and a delicate rose scent courtesy of Veronique. Her hair, I'd imagine, would be tied in an elegant French twist—and I can practically hear the Kristen Bell voice-over.

That said, the right product lineup (read: a flick of black eyeliner, a dab of cream blush, a swipe of crimson on the lips) certainly doesn't hurt, especially when it's brimming with French-born staples like Guerlain, Dior, and the aforementioned Violette_FR. French makeup brands abound, of course, so to discover the very best, I went straight to the source and tapped the chicest Parisians I know for their tried-and-true buys. La Bouche Rouge

A relatively new brand on the French beauty scene (it launched in 2017), La Bouche Rouge offers luxurious, sensorially appealing products that double as works of art. Paris-based aesthetician Sophie Carbonari is quick to praise its craftsmanship and clean formulas, noting that the refillable leather cases " feel like a precious object you keep for years." The brand offers a smattering of makeup staples, including blush sticks, eye shadow palettes, and high-quality brushes, but the lipsticks are arguably the main characters. Says Carbonari, they "have this beautifully velvety, refined finish [that's] chic, understated, and so Parisian."

I likely don't need to convince you of the Hermès Beauty allure. The luxury house has some of the chicest makeup (and nail) staples around, housed in sophisticated packaging you'll want to immediately display on your vanity. "Hermès Beauty has this effortless elegance I can’t resist," agrees Carbonari, who is a major fan of the brand's velvety lip products. I'd wholeheartedly agree. Though, I'd also add an eye shadow palette and burgundy mascara to your cart as well, for good measure.

Embryolisse

You didn't think we'd skip the pharmacy aisle, did you? Embryolisse may be best known for its cult-famous Lait-Crème Concentré, but the brand does have a few subtly tinted offerings for a healthy, luminous glow. I personally adore the Apricot version for allover warmth, but the Rose works wonders as a dark circle–neutralizing color corrector—a tip I learned from French makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis back when the creams made their official Stateside debut. Just a pea-size amount of product is all you need to counteract blue-green shadows, which means you'll wind up using way less concealer later on (and French beauty is nothing if not minimal!). While you're at it, Inglessis recommends snagging the Masque Hydratation Intense and the Lait-Crème—both great formulas to apply before your complexion base.

YSL Beauty

Carbonari puts it simply: "A French icon." The luxury brand is responsible for some of the most time-honored beauty staples of all time (looking at you, Touche Éclat Concealer Pen!), and it has something for everyone, whether your aesthetic leans chic and minimal (I present to you the Loveshine Lip Oil Stick) or you're gunning for more of a "moody Parisian" vibe. Carbonari personally can't get enough of the Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara: "It brings instant definition and volume without clumping, and it gives the lashes that bold, flirty intensity I love," she says. "Whenever I want that classic 'French eye,' this is the one." It's sadly out of stock at the moment, but the Lash Clash Extreme has very similar volumizing capabilities.

My beauty routine is slowly transforming into an all-Sisley lineup—and that just might be the chicest sentence I've ever written. The French beauty brand has some of the most luxurious skin, hair, and makeup offerings on the market with the high-powered botanicals and elegant packaging to prove it. The stunning lipsticks are surefire winners, but Carbonari gives a special shout-out to the ultra-precise Stylo Correct concealer pen. "Lightweight but effective, it brightens without creasing and feels beautifully skincare-infused—very Sisley," she quips.

Of course, we can't discuss French makeup without mentioning Violette Serrat, French makeup artist and founder of Violette_FR. Her beauty brand has amassed a cult following, from beauty editors to fellow makeup artists to celebrities (hi, Hailey Bieber), but if I had to pick out a few star products, I'd say opt for the Bisou Balm sheer matte lipstick and Yeux Paint liquid eye shadow. The former is the only item you'll need for that quintessential French blurred lip, and the latter has incredible color payoff and comes in a smattering of chic shades.

According to Parisian-based content creator Léna Farouil, the brand's Petal Bouche liquid lipstick is also not to be missed. "It’s full coverage, velvety matte and long-lasting—my true 'power era' lipstick for nights when I want to impress," she says.

"I love the Forever Skin [foundation] for days when I want a more complete and polished makeup look," says Farouil, while Carbonari treasures the Backstage Face & Body Foundation. "I love its versatility," she notes. "You can sheer it out for a second-skin glow or build it up seamlessly. It photographs beautifully, and the shade range is genuinely inclusive—always reliable in my kit." Talk about objets d'art. Guerlain's luxurious products—from the refillable lipstick cases to the handmade highlighting pearls—truly make you feel like the fanciest French lady alive. Each deserves to be displayed on vanity, though Carboanari and Farouil both adore the Rouge G Lipstick, which comes with the aforementioned refillable case. "Nothing beats a good lipstick when I want to feel like the most glamorous version of myself—a little old-school Hollywood but make it Parisian," shares Farouil, who calls this Guerlain hero her "little luxury ritual."

Carbonari agrees ("It feels like makeup as a couture accessory," she says), also noting the bullet's rich yet comfortable texture. In terms of complexion products, she recommends the Terracotta Luminizer for a touch of warmth without glitter. "It gives that '[lit] from within' glow—exactly what I look for when I want skin to look alive and effortlessly luminous," she adds.

Le Rouge Francais

According to Inglessis, all the Le Rouge Francais lipsticks are worth your dollar—and I'd wholeheartedly agree. My personal favorite shade is Raspberry Red (a perfectly blurred berry), but the electric crimson and light pinks are just as vibrant and dreamy. The bullet itself is embossed with a gorgeous botanical design, which makes each lippie feel like such a little luxury. I have the lip oil and tinted balms too and can't get enough of both skin-softening staples.

I don't know what it was about that morning, but everything felt a little dreamlike. It was one of those Parisian moments where you're walking around, the sunshine fully shows off, and somehow, everything just feels extra special. It's always a little strange being without the kids, but I honestly couldn't remember the last time I'd had a moment alone. I was in Paris for just two nights for a friend's engagement party and decided it was finally the perfect time to try my luck at Hermès Faubourg. The flagship, which is arguably the most iconic boutique, has been there since 1880, and it's a true Paris institution. When the confirmation came through, I stared at my inbox for a full minute before it registered. What is it about this appointment that makes people so invested? It's not just shopping. It's like you've been invited to collect a very special prize you've somehow won, except this one makes you gulp a little when you hand over your credit card. I filmed bits of the experience for myself, thinking it would live and die in my camera roll, but here we are.

The moment I stepped inside, my sales associate greeted me by name formally, and when she introduced herself, she had the same name we've always loved for a "hopefully one day" future daughter. I took it as a sign that good things were about to happen in that little appointment room upstairs. We went through the motions: colors, sizes, hardware, the wish-list items I'd been dreaming of. She disappeared for a moment and returned carrying not one but four orange boxes. The anticipation at that moment was something else. There's a very particular kind of silence when you realize one of those boxes might be the one. It's a mix of excitement, disbelief, and mild panic all at once as you brace to make a decision.

Out came a 28-centimeter Kelly in black, then an Étoupe 25-centimeter Birkin, an Elan in black, and a Kelly in gold. I had to stop for a moment. It felt surreal to be standing there, choosing between pieces I've quietly loved for years. These are the classics, and there I was, pinching myself and completely unable to make a decision for the life of me. In the end, I went with the Étoupe 25 Birkin. I walked out onto Rue du Faubourg, half in disbelief, half pretending this was all completely normal. One of my favourite parts of being a beauty editor is testing nail polishes. From OPI and Manucurist to Chanel and Essie, I've become somewhat obsessed with finding the chicest nail polish shades and the best nail polish formulas to rival a gel manicure.

However, one nail polish brand that I have yet to try is Hermès. I've tried a handful of Hermès beauty products, from its perfumes to its makeup, and I've had my eye on the nail enamels ever since they launched. And finally, I've got my hands on a couple of the shades.

It's safe to say this may be the most luxurious nail polish that has ever graced my nails. But at £46 per bottle, I wanted to really put it through its paces, because for that price, I have very high standards. I put some of the nail polish shades, including the base coat and top coat, to the test over the past week to find out how they fare. Scroll ahead for my honest thoughts.

The Packaging

The first port of call is the packaging. We have to talk about it. The Les Mains Hermès Nail Enamels are, without question, the chicest nail polishes I've ever seen. They even come in their own orange Hermès box, which makes them a particularly great gift for an Hermès lover or anyone who dreams of one day owning a Birkin and wants to own a small piece of the luxury brand.

When you open the box, the nail polishes themselves are a thing of beauty, too. With brushed gold accents and the Hermès emblem embossed on the brush lid, everything looks and feels incredibly premium. A great first impression.

The Formula

For £46, I was surprised to find that Hermès doesn't particularly tout any nail-enhancing or strengthening ingredients in the formula for either its Nail Enamels or the Top Coat. However, the Base Coat contains resins from the mastic tree to strengthen nails within its milky-white consistency to help prep the nails.

That being said, these nail polishes basically apply like a silk Hermès twilly—glossy and satiny to the touch. The consistency of the polish is just right. It's not too thin and watery, nor too thick and gloopy. Instead, it applies evenly onto the nails. The brush is thoughtfully designed with a rounded shape that fits snugly into the base of your nail bed, so you can easily cover your nails in a thin veil of pigment in one or two strokes.

Some shades, like some of the lighter pinks, are sheer polishes, so depending on your preferences, you may prefer to wear two or three coats here. Other shades that are more opaque look perfect with two coats. The formula is really glossy, and I found that it dries quickly. However, if you're layering up some of the sheerer shades, I'd recommend waiting a little longer for them to fully dry in between, as I did smudge my nails on a few occasions. That being said, I didn't experience it with the more opaque colours that only needed one or two coats. These dried a lot faster.

I tested the shades Rose Porcelaine, a sheer light pink and Brun Bistre, a dark chocolate brown, and prepped both manis with the Base Coat and finished with the Top Coat. I'm quite heavy-handed, and I found these held up pretty well over three or four days before they started to chip. However, I noticed that it chipped a lot faster without the top coat.

The Shades

The shades are all named after the shades you see on Hermès enamel bracelets. Naturally, being Hermès, they're all as beautiful as the next. But what's brilliant is that out of the 24 shades (a nod to Hermès' historic address, 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in Paris), there's something for everyone.

There are sheer pinks to suit minimalists and classic reds to suit traditionalists, but there are also a handful of playful colours too. I'm fond of Brun Bistre, a brown nail colour that's perfect for the colder seasons, while Rose Porcelaine is a pretty sheer pink nail polish that adds just a touch of colour to the nails, but can be layered for a more milky consistency. However, you can also find more playful shades, such as Vert Écossais with its luxe, dark green tones or Orange Boîte, a bright Hermès orange.

The Verdict

Having tried Hermès Les Mains Hermès Nail Enamels and put a handful of the shades through their paces over the past week or so, I have some thoughts. Of course, it would be remiss of me not to address the price tag. At £46, these are premium, super-luxurious nail polishes. I do feel the overall experience of the packaging and application is a fair reflection of the price point. They're ultra-luxe to hold, look at and use, with a silky formula that dries into a glossy lacquer. Have I tried other drugstore nail polishes that last just as long (Essie's Gel Couture Nail Polishes, I'm looking at you)? Yes. But do they set my heart racing as much as Hermès' nail polishes do? Probably not. And I think that's part of the thrill.

Nadège Vanhee, who has now spent a full decade as creative director at the French fashion house, clearly understands the Hermès woman and her desires. For her S/S 26 ready-to-wear collection, presented today at Paris Fashion Week, she showcased just that—focusing on heritage with a fresh twist. And the response was overwhelmingly positive. Fans took to social media to express their enthusiasm. "Best runway thus far in Paris Fashion Week," wrote one commenter on Vogue Runway’s Instagram. Another raved on Outlander Magazine’s post: "This is what I want to wear every day. 10/10 collection."

The collection had little—if anything—to do with the iconic Birkin bag, the very symbol most people associate with the brand (and a safer investment than gold, some say). Instead, all eyes were on the clothes, the styling, and the setting. As for the latter, the show took place at the Garde Républicaine—the historic home of the military corps responsible for protecting the city of Paris. There, Hermès presented a collection of 57 looks that paid homage to the modern-day equestrian.

The first look, which consisted of a brown leather bodice harness layered under a leather-and-canvas long coat, paired with leather Bermuda shorts and matching riding boots, set the stage. There were also silk scarves, nodding to the carrés, which were introduced in 1937, styled in every way except the expected. The color palette stayed true to Hermès's refined aesthetic, with muted tones of beige, brown, navy, and black, accented by pops of red, plum, and tangerine. It all worked so well because of how innately Vanhee understands the house—and how she continues to master and honor its legacy of craftsmanship while pushing it forward. A Sandy Walk

Yes, Hermès's equestrian spirit was embedded not only in the clothing but also in the scenery, which reinforced the narrative. The floors were fully covered in sand. This setting reminded viewers of riding arenas, where sand serves as the primary footing material, offering excellent traction to prevent slipping for horses. In this context, the sand grounded the models' feet, which were finished with riding boots.

Soft Armor 

Every equestrian needs protective gear to protect themself against nature's elements or unexpected falls. In Hermès' spring collection, Vanhee reimagined this concept of armor. Instead of traditional riding helmets, gloves, or vests, the collection showcased leather pieces ranging from maxi skirts and trousers to midi dresses and padded tops with collars. Harnesses worn over the chest added a sense of purpose and power, while utility-inspired buckles on suspender-style pants and skirts created a blend of functionality and style.

New It Boots

Hermès's Oran sandals, featuring the signature "H" cutout, will face competition next spring and summer. In the collection, 55 out of 57 looks showcased the same riding-style boots. These knee-high boots featured an asymmetrical collar, also known as a Spanish topline, and sleek lines. Some models paired the all-black leather version with leather dresses, pencil skirts, and playsuits, while others styled the brownish-green leather version with Bermuda shorts, long suede skirts, and leather shorts. The collection also included a white leather version, embossed styles, all-suede options, and pairs that combined canvas with leather. Clearly, there is a pair to suit any Hermès woman.

Everything But the Birkin

Of course, the Hermès show had to include two Birkins—one in an elegant tan suede finish and another in a classic brown-and-white leather combination. But for the most part, it was refreshing to see the brand step away from the signature style and introduce new bag silhouettes for spring. One standout was a horseshoe-shaped shoulder bag, which models carried in their hands rather than over their shoulders. It featured the brand's signature clasp hardware and came in rich tones like tan, dark green, burgundy, and black. There were also sleek leather bucket bags shown in grained black leather, smooth black leather, and even an oversize canvas-leather mix, carried by model Alex Consani. Other highlights included a floral silk top-handle bag—perfect for a night out and a playful way to brighten up an all-black outfit—and a compact bowler-style bag that came in shades like mustard yellow, cherry red, and chocolate brown.

Prints! 

The spring 2026 fashion month is almost over, and unsurprisingly, we've seen a lot of prints. For example, in New York, Khaite showed polka dots, and in London, Simone Rocha's collection featured soft and dainty florals, which appeared on long shift dresses and sheer bubble skirts. In Milan, Missoni's show highlighted its famous colorful chevron, and in Paris, Hermès's collection featured various prints. A scarf-inspired red-and-beige motif was featured on skirt sets, dresses, and outerwear, as well as navy stripes on scarves and bustier tops. Another look, which included a button-up shirt paired with high-waisted shorts, featured an enlarged navy-and-black plaid pattern.

Not Just a Silk Scarf

Hermès's silk scarves are loved for their versatility, often worn knotted around the neck or tied on a Birkin handle. For the spring 2026 show, though, the brand showcased its scarves in some delightfully unexpected ways. First, we noticed it rolled up and intertwined with a chain necklace, creating an elegant choker. Later, it was wrapped around the back of the neck with fabric draping on the front, styled beneath a harness to create a chic top. Additionally, the scarf was tied around a belt loop, adding delicacy to the leather accessory and offering an elegant twist on the scarf belts that insiders have been favoring.

The word "iconic" has been thrown around so much in recent years that it almost feels like the definition has lost all meaning. However, if there’s anything worthy of that description, it’s these shoes.

Just like how manners maketh the man, the same can be said for how shoes complete an outfit. According to the online resale platform, "Global eBay users have searched for 'Hermès' over 31 times a minute, on average, in 2025 so far,” demonstrating an insatiable appetite for the luxury leather goods crafted by the French designer. "These icons of style are having a real moment right now," Bannerman echoes. "Other top-searched styles so far this year include the Hermès Herbag, Lindy and Bolide. It’s not just the Birkins and Kellys getting love; styles like the Constance, Evelyne and Picotin are also becoming go-to favourites."

Of course, the Birkin and Kelly are both based on chic fashion icons of yore, and are certifiably Hermès' most well-known styles, but, as highlighted in the eBay search data, there’s so much more to the brand than these pieces.

As anyone who is familiar with the brand can attest, purchasing an Hermès bag can be arduous. It’s not the case that you can walk into your nearest boutique and pick one up off the shelf. With limited quantities produced each year, and every bag handcrafted by an expert artisan in the brand's atelier, these factors have only contributed to their exclusivity and appeal. Many, instead, turn to secondhand experts like celebrity fashion sourcer Gab Waller. "It may come as a surprise, but we don’t personally source Hermès Birkin or Kelly bags," she tells me.

Given that these sought-after bags fall out of her remit, meaning clients like Sofia Richie Grainge and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have to turn elsewhere to get their hands on them, Waller explains that alternative designs are on the rise. "The Picotin, especially, is such a staple in any wardrobe. We receive requests for it constantly, and any time we offer one, it sells immediately." Her expert advice? Think pink. Blush, rose and bubblegum shades are proving the most popular.

If you’re looking to make your next investment, Waller says we should also be considering vintage styles as worthy ventures. "That draw to larger and vintage bags is something that clients are seeking," she says. "On that note, vintage Hermès bags in general are very in demand at present. The more worn, the better. That rugged look is what clients are looking for."

Purchasing an Hermès bag that isn’t in perfect condition or still in the box might seem blasphemous, but it's happening more and more. "It’s coming from the younger generation. Gen Z is gravitating towards [bags] that aren’t picture-perfect. They want something undone, relaxed and effortless. Think of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen with their very worn-in Birkin bags!" says Waller.

The purchasing process is the stuff of legend, as owners are rumoured to have endured long wait lists and be required to have maintained a regular purchase history with the brand to nab a bag of their own. Plus, I cannot overstate how often I'm asked, as a fashion editor, about the price of an Hermès Birkin. Those who manage to secure one join an exclusive group that shares a part of fashion history.

For the uninitiated, the Hermès Birkin was born in 1984 of a chance encounter between French-British actress and songstress Jane Birkin and then chairman of Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas. Birkin boarded a flight from Paris to London carrying her wares in her signature basket bag, and as she entered the first-class cabin, the contents of her woven tote poured out. Whilst up in the air, the then 37-year-old lamented to her neighbour the struggles of finding a chic bag that could fit the essential items of a woman’s life to her neighbour. Her seat partner happened to be Dumas, and so, somewhere over continental Europe, the pair landed on the machinations of the Hermès Birkin. The rest, as they say, is history.

In 2022, the most expensive Birkin—a Birkin 30 made from speckled crocodile skin and encrusted with 18k diamond hardware—sold at auction for $450,000 (roughly $331,400). Now, following Birkin’s passing in 2023, her personal bag is set to go under the hammer. However, the origins of the bag date back to the 1930s. When it was first released to market, the Kelly sold under the name Sac à Dépêches and was designed for the wife of former Hermès CEO, Émile-Maurice Hermès. Other limited-edition shades have collectable, bolder colour-ways), it whispers:“If you know, you know.” It’s the kind of lipstick you’d nonchalantly whip out at an art gallery pretending you’re not low-key thrilled someone clocked it. There was nothing that could have prepared me for the reaction of my fellow editors when a package containing an Hermés Birkin landed on my desk at Who What Wear UK HQ.

The gasps! The touching! The collective awe! This is a bag that still commands unwavering reverence everywhere it goes, and despite being on the market for well over 41 years, it is still as coveted today as it was when it launched. My introduction to the Birkin (as I'm sure is the same for many millennials) was the episode of Sex and the City when even Samantha Jones can't get her hands on one. The implication even then was clear: the Hermés Birkin is in the upper echelons, and no waiting list or amount of sweet-talking sales staff will get you one, but with the unexpected drop of a $80 Wallmart dupe dubbed the "Wirkin" at the end of last year, TikTok is one again buzzing over the bag that is as much a status symbol as it is an accessory.

"Hermés bags are the pinnacle of luxury, and great from an investment perspective, as most models double or triple their value the minute they leave the shop floor," notes Hanushka Toni, founder of luxury preloved boutique Sellier. "It is nearly impossible to walk into Hermés and simply buy a Birkin or a Kelly. Whilst the crafts[person]ship and quality are second to none, what really makes Hermès bags so desirable is their exclusivity. That sense of rarity, combined with their timeless design and investment potential, makes them the ultimate status symbol, which is why consumers are so eager to get their hands on one."

So, is the Birkin truly head-and-shoulders above the rest, or just the product of some extremely well-thought-out marketing and endorsements? Well, prices aside, the secondhand market would suggest that similar to the Chanel Flap and Dior Book Tote, the allure of the Birkin, and in fact, of most designer handbags, no longer lies in the shopping experience alone, but the preservation of archival pieces.

"The preloved market is the best place to invest in timeless luxury pieces. When an item is on its second life, it’s a testament to the quality of its fabric and crafts[person]ship—provided it has been well cared for," adds Toni. "Buying secondhand makes investment pieces more accessible, as price points are often lower than buying new. The secondary market has completely transformed access to luxury. It allows buyers to find rare and discontinued pieces that would otherwise be out of reach without spending years building a relationship with a sales associate.

"Many designer bags even hold or increase in value over time, making them a smarter investment than buying retail, and, for those who want to experience the magic of a Hermès bag without a long-term commitment, luxury rental is also a fantastic alternative. It allows people to enjoy iconic pieces for special occasions or try different styles before making a purchase. Luxury should be enjoyed, and the resale and rental markets are making that more possible than ever."

Keen to feel the quality and road-test this iconic bag for myself, I reached out to the Sellier team and asked to spend 24 hours with the world's most famous handbag. Would it feel luxurious? How would it carry? And most importantly, would it be worth the money?

Hermés Birkin Bag Review

So, let's start off with the look and feel of the bag. There's no denying the wow factor when you slide off the dust bag to reveal the tote underneath, and given the current penchant for structured top-handle bags of a medium size and minimalist design (specifically The Row's Margaux and the Ferragamo Hug), this bag immediately ticks all of the right boxes on style.

My first stop of the day was a breakfast meeting, and the last thing I wanted to carry was a super-heavy bag that I'd have to lug around on the tube. Although the Birkin I tested isn't quite big enough for my laptop and extras, it comfortably fits my makeup bag, phone, keys, perfume, a hairbrush and my book—in other words, the essentials, without weighing me down. The clasp may have taken some initial fumbling to get open, but if ever there was a bag that you needn't worry someone could slip their hand into, it's this.

Although we may be more used to slouchier totes that you can fold up under your arm, there's something satisfying about the Birkin's rigidity. Whether it was in my locker, on the train or sitting on a coffee table, it holds its form whilst taking up minimal space. At times, I was suddenly aware that I was treating the bag like a baby (and yes, it deserved its own seat at the breakfast table), but in this colourway in particular, I'm inclined to treat the leather like a precious object. It's not buttery soft, but instead, it's a much thicker, grained leather that feels more durable—perfect for protecting the far smoother and more sumptuous suede inside. Now, that looked and smelt like pure luxury.

I got plenty of looks carrying this around, and I wondered if it was because of the bag itself, people trying to figure out whether it was real or fake or the fact that I immediately carried myself like a celebrity despite standing in a queue for a salad at lunch. Clearly, this bag unlocked the latent A-lister in me, and I'm not about to consider that a problem.

So, how did it hold up for the rest of the day? Well, given that this is not your average throw-on-and-go bag, I did spend a lot of time undoing the clasp, lifting the flap, aligning everything and fastening it again (and that's without locking it with the key, as I didn't trust myself not to lose it). It's a strong safety measure that will please many buyers, but I'm perhaps a little too impatient. By the time I make it to the evening, I'm ready to go out for drinks after work without having to swap to a different bag, and I cannot stress enough how convenient this is when I see so many commuters stuggling with a nice handbag, a tote bag and potentially a laptop bag all at once.

"On the resale market, the classic Birkin 25 in black with gold hardware or gold on gold is a sought-after item, making it a worthwhile option for collectors looking for a long-term investment," points out Toni. "Additionally, we’re seeing the classic size of the Birkin (the 35) becoming more popular amongst buyers." And for very good reason. The size is what scores the real points here, as it isn't the biggest Birkin available (that's the whopping 50), but the shallower mini 25 is just too micro to fit everything inside, making the 35 the happy medium.

Unlike many top-handle bags, the Birkin doesn't come with a shoulder strap, so if you want to switch around positions for comfort, you're looking at swapping the hand you carry it in as opposed to wearing it crossbody or on the shoulder, but as someone who never uses the extra attachments anyway, this is more of an observation than a criticism.

On close inspection, the faultless seams and joins are a clear sign of the craftspersonship that goes into these pieces. Every detail, from the colour of the thread to the embossing on the padlock, has been thought out and executed by the artisans who make every cut and stitch by hand to uniformity. It may sound like a lot, but as someone who has paid to have bags restored, handles replaced and shoes re-glued, it's reassuring to find a designer item that hasn't cut corners just to increase the markup. Every penny spent to make this bag (and believe me, it's a lot) must count for something.

Final Thoughts

It's almost impossible to ignore the eye-watering price when discussing the Birkin. It's not the kind of purchase that anyone could easily describe as "value for money", but it is an example of just how designer bags can retain their value on the resale market. Out of all of the luxury greats to stand the test of time—the saddle bag, the baguette, the Jackie—it is Hermés with the most impressive and farthest-reaching legacy, and even its sister bag, the Kelly, doesn't have quite the same pull as its younger counterpart.

The bag I loaned was one of the "cheaper" options, retailing at around £8850 secondhand, so it didn't hit the £20K benchmark like some of the rarer styles, but it still felt far too special to be an everyday bag option. If you're looking for one of the more entry-level options, go for palladium hardware over gold, Clemence leather over Chèvre leather and exotic skins and stick to sizes 35 and below—anything more sizable can send costs into five figures on reputable sites.

Is the Birkin the kind of bag you carry on the tube for your everyday commute? Absolutely not. But is it the kind of special-occasion style you can hand down to the next generation? Honestly, yes. What you may or may not consider a "wise investment" ultimately comes down to budget, and if you are a bag collector who would happily spend thousands on the latest styles from Loewe or Khaite, a Birkin feels like it has far more longevity in the long run. Whilst owning a Birkin is outside the realm of possibility for this fashion editor, I did get a buzz from this moment of proximity to fashion greatness and would happily recommend renting one for the curious.

PROS: Exclusivity, elegant design, exceptional craftspersonship, iconic legacy, roomy, lightweight, cleaning kits available (depending on colour), resale value.

You can tell she genuinely appreciates fashion. She dons unique, hard-to-find pieces, like vintage Miu Miu and Chanel in Monaco and JW Anderson's iconic Pigeon Bag during an Italian vacation in August with her partner, Williams driver Alex Albon, ahead of the Italian Grand Prix. Her most iconic paddock fashion moment came at the end of the season in Abu Dhabi, when she styled Maison Margiela ankle-strap Tabis with a white minidress and the very limited-edition Hermès Bolide on Wheels Bag from 2023.

Monaco-based artist and content creator Alexandra Saint Mleux—who's been dating Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc publicly since early 2023—made Rhode's Lip Case a regular sighting in the F1 paddock this season, always keeping her Peptide Lip Tint on call during race weekends. It was perfect, then, that Hailey Bieber selected her as the face of a "matching phone case" campaign in November. (That's called smart marketing.) Saint Mleux's paddock 'fits almost always feature the viral case in one of its four color options, and she often coordinates it with her ensemble. At the Singapore Grand Prix in September, she chose a sheer, baby-blue Zimmermann dress, pairing it with a matching Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie bag and burgundy Jimmy Choo pumps.

Content creator Kika Cerqueira Gomes has mastered the art of casual elegance in the F1 paddock, a fact that was proven on the first day of practice ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. She arrived to the track in a billowy button-down shirt, vintage Levi's, and matching cognac-brown accessories in a Gucci Jackie bag and Hermès Oran Sandals. As someone who witnessed her debut this look up close, I can confidently say that it was even better in person than it appears here. She was cool, calm, and collected—the complete opposite of her partner, French Alpine driver Pierre Gasly, and his entire team after he raced his number 10 car to a spectacular podium in Brazil this season. (I was equally elated, but I cried tears of joy from my apartment in New York, not São Paulo.)

When I asked German fashion and fitness influencer Caroline Daur for a 'fit check before the Monaco Grand Prix, I didn't actually need her to tell me. I recognized and envied everything about her look, from her Celine sunglasses to her Hermès Kelly bag to her Miu Miu motorcycle boots that I've been dreaming about since they debuted on the F/W 22 runway. Daur has become a regular on the F1 circuit, and because of her close relationship with Tag Heuer, she'll likely continue to grow her presence now that the watch brand is returning as the official timekeeper of Formula One in 2025. (Fun fact: Tag Heuer was the first luxury brand to appear on an F1 car way back in 1969.)

Baby Pink

On Lewis Hamilton: Marni jacket, pants, and shoes; Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses; Polite Worldwide necklaces

Lewis Hamilton doesn't wear viral items—he makes them go viral. He does, however, lean into trends in his own way with his iconic paddock 'fits week after week. For the Miami Grand Prix, Hamilton and his stylist Eric McNeal worked with Marni to create a custom baby-pink jacket-and-pant set (despite the May heat and humidity in Miami) inspired by a look from the brand's F/W 24 collection, according to renowned Lewis Hamilton outfit ID'er @hamazinglew aka Rashi Gaur. He accessorized with Marni shoes, Jacques Marie Mage eyewear, and Polite Worldwide necklaces. Baby pink was the color trend the season in the spring/summer 2025 runway collections, showing up at Alaïa, Khaite, Valentino, Carven, Chanel, and more throughout September and early October. This fact makes Hamilton's ensemble all the way back in May even more genius. I'm not saying he inspired designers to lean into the pastel shade, but I'm not not saying that either…

Puma Speedcat OG Sneakers

If the baby-pink Speedcats above aren't your color of choice, don't fret. With Puma being the official supplier of merchandise for F1, you know the brand has a massive presence in the sport, so it was no surprise to see its viral motorsport-inspired Speedcat sneakers all over the paddock this season in a variety of colors. The sneaker brand especially leaned into the Las Vegas Grand Prix, hosting editors, influencers, and celebrities—many of whom styled their Speedcats throughout the weekend. One such person was Ashley Graham, who wore a black version with slouchy black trousers, a leopard-print bra, and a sheer shirt on top. Immaculate.

Alaïa Le Coeur Bag

On Kelly Piquet: Alaïa Le Coeur Leather Shoulder Bag ($1400)

Though Alaïa's Le Teckel bag is the one everyone's talking about at the moment, it's the long beloved heart-shaped Le Coeur bag that appeared in the paddock this season at the Italian Grand Prix, carried by content creator and model Kelly Piquet. She wore the black version for a walk through the pit lane and styled it in a very effortless, Italian-inspired manner—with a belted white shirt, a matching midi skirt, and flat sandals.

Bulgari Serpenti Watch

On Muni He: Bulgari Serpenti Tubogas Watch ($9900)

Luxury watches are a dime a dozen in the F1 paddock. Practically every F1 team has its own watch sponsor, so the drivers and team principals are rarely without their high-end timepieces—unless they're inside the cockpit. In this case, they might even have a picture of their watch printed on their gloves. Mercedes works with IWC, Ferrari and McLaren are partnered with Richard Mille, and Red Bull's sponsor is Tag Heuer. Outside of the teams, race weekend attendees in the paddock are often decked out in their finest timekeepers, from Rolex Day-Dates to Audemars Piguet Royal Oaks. My favorite watch wearer, though? Muni He, who regularly shows up to the track in her Bulgari Serpenti watch. Here, she wore it with a white halter top and slouchy trousers in Abu Dhabi, undoubtedly inciting an abundance of jealousy throughout the paddock.

On Saint Mleux: Saint Laurent Le 5 À 7 Supple Small Bag ($2500)

Last but certainly not least is Leo, the dachshund that stole the entire F1 community's heart this season when he was adopted by Saint Mleux and Leclerc. Just kidding—I'm here to talk about Saint Mleux's bag, one of 2024's most viral and sought-after styles. Throughout the Italian Grand Prix weekend in August, she carried the Saint Laurent leopard-print Le 5 à 7 bag, which ended up quickly selling out upon its arrival in stores and online. The style was also spotted on Laura Harrier, Zoë Kravitz, and Hailey Bieber, and the similar Bea shape was seen on Kate Moss in Paris. Unfortunately, there's a wait list for anyone wanting to get their hands on the bags, but the French fashion house did recently release a weekender version in the same leopard-print pony-hair fabric that's available to purchase right away.

How does one smell like a fabulous Parisian woman? A "fascinating, free, and fulfilled woman who embodies daring, force and grace-in-action with a compelling energy that draws one in." It essentially represents effortless glamour—I'd say there's nothing more French-girl coded than that.

Barénia is the house's first chypre, a scent that is fresh, floral, and woody all at once. Of all the olfactory families, chypres are just so cool—their vibrance and sophistication make them the ultimate Parisian pick. Each Hermès fragrance tells a story—an olfactory adventure, if you will—and the Barénia tale paints a picture of classic Hermès style. "The Hermès woman is driven by curiosity. Guided by her instincts, her side steps are never missteps," says Christine Nagel, the brand's in-house perfumer. Like a chypre, the Hermès woman is a bold character, fluttering through life with an effortless confidence.

The fragrance also takes inspiration from Hermès's signature Barénia leather, which has a supple texture that caresses the skin. (Chypres, in general, tend to have a rich, leathery quality.) Nagel evokes this kiss of soft leather by adding sensual patchouli and oakwood to the elixir, both of which sink into the skin and evolve with the wearer. This seductive, woody base creates a delightful contrast to the floral, green notes of butterfly lily and juicy miracle berry.

It's at once bright, earthy, and subtly sweet, like how I'd imagine a forest nymph (one with impeccable French taste, I should add) would smell in real life. In true chypre fashion, Barénia is also a bit enigmatic; this is a fragrance you ought to spend some time with in order to fully appreciate its elegance—like a woman you can't quite figure out but, at the same time, can't get out of your head.

2. Chanel Rouge Noir

Chanel's Rouge Noir may just be the world's most iconic nail polish colour, and Chanel's best nail colours ever. "If you don’t know about this iconic colour then we can’t be friends," says Shelton. "This colour is probably older than I am and an icon for sure. This is the shade for A/W and if you haven’t tried it then what are you waiting for?"

The deep black cherry hue was born from Chanel's A/W 94 show when makeup artist Heidi Morawetz and Chanel's then director of makeup Dominique Moncourtois mixed a red and black pigments just days before the show to paint the model's hands, and it was an instant hit on the runway. When Chanel decided to launch the shade (which was then name Vamp) it was so popular that people were queuing outside stores to get a bottle the day it launch. Allow us to be a little bougie for a moment (we're well aware that £45 for a nail polish will make most bank accounts cry) but Hermès deserves a special mention. The brand's range of nail colours are inspired by the very enamel colours you'll find among Hermès goods . So if you're pining for a Birkin or a Kelly, Hermès' Nail Enamels may help to tide you over for the time being. The most iconic shade for Shelton is Orange Boîte. "It’s a colour most would describe as the “Hermes orange” and they aren’t wrong. I love this shade so much because it looks great on everyone." 5. OPI Funny Bunny

Whenever I ask any nail tech or salon about their most requested and most loved nail colour shades, OPI Funny Bunny is always, always mentioned. "Funny Bunny is an iconic milky shade I think everyone should own," says Shelton. "This shade is so versatile and I love applying a couple of layers of this as it creates the perfect milky nail look." It has a sheer finish, but it can be layered to a more opaque finish, and it's a popular shade to layer with OPI Bubble Bath or topped with chrome powder for the iconic 'glazed doughnut' manicure.

6. Chanel Ballerina

Next to Rouge Noir, Ballerina is one of Chanel's most popular nail polish colours. And it's not hard to see why. Ask any nail tech about their favourite red colour, and Big Apple Red is bound to be mentioned. "It's one of my favourite reds to date," says Shelton. "I always reach for this in summer. It’s beautiful and a classic colour that can really make a statement." Many people are loyal to this true neutral red (the perfect balance of warm and cool undertones) which looks just as good on all skin tones, chic short nails as it does on longer lengths, and it's also an elite pedicure colour year-round. It rose to fame in the 2000s when it launched as part of OPI's New York collection and was so popular that it became a permanent colour in the brand's core collection. It's just as timeless today, so if you're ever in doubt about what colour red to choose, you won't regret picking this one—the glossy finish is unmatched.

8. Essie Allure

Another affordable nail colour that you'll often find nail techs recommending is Essie Allure. It was named after Allure magazine, when the the founding editor tapped Essie to create a sheer, milky beige that would look on all skin tones, and this nail colour was born. It even was the nail colour of choice for Kate Middleton on her wedding day, so it's pretty special. It has a. subtle hint of pink to it, but it's predominately a creamy sheer white and makes nails look bright and groomed. It's a shade that Rae likes to use as a foundation shade to layer with other polishes. "I always apply a sheer white polish beneath every colour," says Rae. "I like using Essie Allure, it's a really sheer white that looks good on everyone. And then on top of that, you can layer pretty much anything," she says.

9. OPI Lincoln Park After Dark

OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark has a loyal following, making it one of the best—and most iconic—dark nail polish colours in the game, and it's instantly recognisable. Last but not least, we have Cajun Shrimp by OPI, a coral-red that many count as their go-to in the summer months. "This is a summer classic," says Shelton, who says this is a great shade to make your nails pop. It's more pink and orange-toned than Big Apple Red, which adds a bright and cheerful to your fingertips and toes. It dates back to 1990, when OPI co-founder went to dinner in New Orleans and tried Cajun spiced prawns for the first time.

The way that I look at it, two types of fashion purchases: ones that are done with a "right now" mindset and ones that are made for the future. Both are completely necessary and justifiable. After all, maybe you need a new white tee because each one you own has makeup stains or you need a trendy piece of jewelry for a specific event. In these cases, a purchase made on a whim makes sense. Last year, Roman jewelry house Bulgari—the jewelry is often spotted on ambassadors Zendaya and Anne Hathaway—celebrated 75 years of its Serpenti line, its most iconic collection that was designed all those years ago to represent metamorphosis and constant transformation. Its wraparound timepieces, bracelets, and rings, which really do adapt and grow stronger every season, are some of the most notable in the entire jewelry industry, not to mention desired, with fashion people everywhere trying to get their hands on one of Bulgari's two-tone cocktail watches or rose-gold chokers.

My grandmother used to collect Hermès scarves and I always thought about them, hoping that one day I'd get to call one of them mine. They were an item that one day, I could actually obtain; something that even now I can't say for certain about a Hermès handbag. When I finally did get one of the French brand's colorful and artfully detailed scarves, it felt like the ultimate style achievement. And that's something I, for one, would love to pass on to the next generation. Though less physically substantial than a Birkin or Kelly bag, Hermès' delicate scarves are embedded in fashion history.

Chanel's spring/summer 2024 collection provided something for the fashion community that's uncommon, to say the least: a future heirloom. That, though, is exactly what I'm predicting for the black and white Mary-Jane flats that Virginie Viard sent down the runway at the French house's show back in October of 2023. Vogue said it best when it called The Row's Margaux Bag—which comes in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors—an "heirloom in the making," liking it to the Hermès Birkin bag. The open-top, top-handle tote is almost always sold out, especially now that The Row has pulled it back from third-party retailers and made it so you can only purchase a new Margaux from the brand's website or stores. Whilst the resale of Birkin bags is less strict (though you can still expect to pay a premium), buying one new is a lengthy process, with huge demand, unpredictable stock levels, Hermès sales assistants and yet more hurdles standing between you and that bag.

If you're lucky enough to be approved to buy one (yes, you can be refused), there's no guarantee the assistant will offer you the colour or finish you want either—I've heard of people asking to purchase the black colourway only to be presented with a pink option at the checkout. All of this only adds more mystery to the legend of the Birkin. Whilst the closest many of us will get to a Birkin bag is adding them to our vision boards (I, for one, fall into this category), there is a group of fortunate fashion devotees who count themselves as owners of the exclusive arm candy. Of that group, there is a subset of Birkin owners that the internet has fondly dubbed "Birkin moms".

Being a Birkin mom goes beyond owning a Birkin bag. It's the confidence of knowing you possess something that everybody else wants, and with that disposition, you carry yourself differently. With an affluence that announces itself without having to say a peep, being a Birkin mom is a full-time style commitment. You need to look glossy 24/7. Defined by their

Unlike the womenswear shows that can sometimes feel impossible to avoid on social media, if you don't actively pay attention to or cover menswear, you might not have even known that the fall/winter 2024 shows just ended—apart from Loewe, where all the "baby girls" plus Taylor Russell played dress-up in high-waisted corduroys, fuzzy suede boots, and sparkly blazers. Ever since Prada debuted its S/S 24 collection that featured a delicate mixture of ghostly frocks, flowing fringe skirts, and rugged chore jackets, the fashion world has been enamored with any outerwear that's made of waxy cotton or canvas and features a corduroy collar. The trend isn't going to end when summer does. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons as well as Pharrell Williams at Louis Vuitton and Kim Jones at Dior are all making it crystal clear in their fall/winter 2024 collections that workwear in the form of chore and country coats will reign for the entirety of the year.

Your social media feed might not have been inundated with menswear content last week, but mine was, and a majority of it was tied to the many glove moments from the shows in both Milan and Paris. Specifically, Gucci's burgundy and bright-green gloves that strategically matched each model's oversize Jackie bags were a fan favorite—as were the elbow-length leather styles seen at Dries Van Noten, a trend that's very much spreading on the womenswear side of things as well.

Just like the sky outside this winter, gray was impossible to miss on the menswear runways this season. Highlights include the heavy gray��hoodie styled alongside charcoal trousers and a tie-clad button-down shirt at Valentino and the single-breasted fuzzy coat at Gucci that was paired with a matching skinny necktie, gloves, a bag, and trousers. In other words, the groutfit is here, and it looks damn good—no sweatpants in sight.

If you're on the hunt for a new jewelry trend that doesn't yet feel overdone, look no further than the growing brooch fad, which is perfect for making your oversize, outfit-covering coats feel stylized and interesting during the colder months of the year. Though brands like Loewe, Saint Laurent, and Gucci are already dabbling in the brooch game, my favorite destination for lapel adornments is the vintage market, where there's a seemingly endless supply of baubles for you to choose from.

I know, I know—wearing corduroys for fall isn't exactly a groundbreaking phenomenon, but after finding the wide-wale, split-hem versions at Fendi, every other pair ever made in the autumnal fabric flew out the window. Then more arrived at S.S.Daley and Neil Barrett, and just like that, I knew that a new, very chic dawn was on the horizon for the formerly slept-on pant trend. I, for one, can't wait.

If you love the idea of a turtleneck sweater but hate how constricting it tends to feel whenever you step foot inside a heated office, restaurant, or home after being out in the cold, this knitwear trend is going to solve all of your fashion problems. Found at Hermès, Wales Bonner, Gucci, and Todd Snyder were oversize and spread-out collars, some of which can zip or button up to become a turtleneck with none of the restrictive qualities.

Canadian tuxedos rarely get the attention they deserve when they're styled on the streets, but they really don't on the runways, where either far more formal or out-there ensembles take precedence over casual ones like double denim. But not this season. From Louis Vuitton's Western-inspired take to Dries Van Noten's denim double-breasted suit, jeans were styled from head to toe all across the fall collections, finally getting a stage worthy of their glory.

Sometimes, the least flashy pieces are the most interesting ones, especially when it comes to menswear. Nowhere was this idea presented more clearly than in the suits shown on the fall/winter 2024 runways. Forget oversize suits and cutouts—at Gucci, Prada, Dries Van Noten, Dior, and more, officewear was all about a return to classic tailoring. Prada took the double-breasted route, while timeless tuxedo silhouettes won out at Dries.

If you're in New York City or follow anyone on Instagram or TikTok who is, you're probably already all too aware of the temperature situation. It's New York Fashion Week, which means that everyone remotely involved in the industry is running around the city, attending presentations, runway shows, and parties, all the while dealing with near 100-degree temps, equally high levels of humidity, and intermittent thunderstorms and periods of blazing-hot sunshine. We're surviving, sure, but it's most definitely not comfortable.

That being said, everyone's on high alert when it comes to chic hot-weather outfits, scanning the crowds outside of shows for inspiration on what to wear to beat the heat. While I don't usually like to brag, I'm happy to do so right now after I spotted Sofia Richie Grainge wearing the perfect (albeit unexpected) garment for every New Yorkers' current predicament: a nightgown. Specifically, it's a Prada nightgown from the Italian brand's spring '23 runway collection, which she paired with a burgundy Hermès Kelly bag and matching velvet Mary Jane flats. She also accessorized with chunky gold hoops, black sunglasses, and a classic silver timepiece. The caption on her photos of the look read, "97 in NYC = Prada night gown." 

Though I sadly won't be able to afford Richie's off-the-runway nightgown, the look is certainly inspiring me to get creative with my styling, putting aside normal dressing rules and picking out items that feel comfortable in this weather—even if they are typically worn to bed. Whenever I'm looking to put together an outfit that elevates me from "27-year-old with a tendency to shop instead of save" to "27-year-old who's unbothered about money because she has so much of it," I look to *the* luxury dresser, Jennifer Lopez. As someone who regularly dons the most lavish of designer labels, from Brunello Cucinelli and Ralph Lauren to Hermès and Dior, the actress and singer knows a bit—read a lot—about looking rich, making her an obvious source of inspiration.

Proof of this lies in her most recent street style sighting, which shows her wearing a muted color palette of cognac and mocha brown and combining fabrics like suede, silk, and denim. Specifically, Lopez wore a brown A.L.C. blazer and white blouse with straight-leg jeans, platform heels, oversize sunglasses, and the most gorgeous cognac-colored suede Birkin I've ever seen. The result? The kind of low-key ensemble that immediately comes to mind when you think of casual luxury.

Unfortunately, with such an elevated wardrobe, getting J.Lo's exact look, especially her bag, will come at a significant price. On the ready-to-wear side, its racks were lined with Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Lauren Manoogian, and Samuji. And for denim, we exclusively sold Frame Denim, the brand every LA and NYC fashion girl was wearing at the time. I adored every pair from the brand and too often spent my entire paycheque on jeans. 

One pair, in particular, that I bought and subsequently wore roughly three times a week every summer for years, was Frame’s Le Skinny de Jeanne style in white. When I graduated and moved to New York, I left a ton of clothing items behind, donating most of them and selling the rest. Those jeans were one of the pieces I parted ways with, an act I’m now very much regretting after spotting the exact same pair on none other than Meghan Markle. 

Markle was seen exiting an office in Montecito, California wearing arguably the chicest, most luxurious outfit I've ever seen, consisting of a camel-colored robe coat, a cream sweater, an Hermès shawl, Chanel slingbacks, and an oversize, all-white Goyard tote. But even with all of that draped on her, the fashion item that my eyes were immediately drawn to were her jeans, the same exact pair of white Frame skinnies that I owned in college. Envious, I immediately started searching the internet for a pair to replace the ones I got rid of five years ago.

Think it's impossible to experience Hermès first-hand? Think again. The stars came out in droves over the weekend to enjoy the luxury brand's latest experiential endeavor, a poetic and cinematic performance dubbed On the Wings of Hermès. And tickets are now available to the public.

Loosely chronicling the tale of Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology, the experience is an ode to oneirism, otherwise known as daydreaming. "It is an experience which sparks the imagination, designed by artisans of dreams," says Hermès Artistic Director Pierre-Alexis Dumas. According to the press release, dancers, choreographers, lighting, and image technicians work together in a joyous, magical extravaganza that features a humorous opera sung by a cast of Hermès Kelly bags, a mini circus, and incredible movement.

"With that in mind I have recently shared a baby blue by Chanel in shade Muse and that has also been one of my go-tos," she adds. "It flatters the skin and is a great alternative for those who aren’t into strikingly bold colours. Although this is only available in lacquer, it leaves a beautiful gel-like finish."

"We’re never going to get away from neutrals," says Shelton. "Whether it’s the sheer nudes to the fully pigmented skin tone nudes, they’re here to stay. I think there’s a current obsession around being effortlessly chic that we’re now reverting back to shorter, more natural looks," she notes. "This isn’t just with nails mind you. It’s with fashion and makeup also. Less is more and I really like that." Shelton's favourite neutrals are some of OPI's classics, including Bubble Bath, Put It In Neutral, Baby, Take a Vow and Bare My Soul. "These are my go-to shades always," she says.

"White is a must for summer, especially for toes," says Shelton. "You know you’re ready for your holidays when you’ve got freshly painted white toes." Indeed, white is the ideal pedicure colour, and it will always go with any outfit, no matter what you are wearing. Plus, a bottle of white polish is ideal to keep on standby for French manis, too as well as fresh block coloured looks.

"How can we not be into pink?" asks Shelton. "It’s a feel-good colour." The best bit about pink nail polish is that you can choose from a range of shades. "Whether that’s a bright and bold hot pink or a baby pink, which I think is more in-keeping this season, it’s entirely your decision. OPI I Quit My Day Job is a beautiful pink which looks great on all skin tones. It’s the perfect shade for summer."
