That couldn't be more true for summer's biggest hair trends. Celebrity hairstylists and colorists agree that there's an emphasis on all things natural, relaxed, and lived-in right now, and this holds regardless of hair type, color, or length. (I think it's influenced by wellness culture and how people are zeroed in on their health—hair health included, but that's up for debate.) Take it from Isabella Mastrippolito, colorist at Benjamin Salon in West Hollywood. "Across the board, there's a continued push toward lived-in, dimensional color—soft, subtle ribbons of lighter pieces woven through the hair so everything blends easily and grows out without harsh lines. It mimics natural lighting from a long summer outdoors and keeps the overall look soft, easy, and low maintenance.”

There's also an emphasis on "micro-identity," as people reference specific eras and aesthetics from years past, turning them into new, signature looks. "About six in 10 American teens use TikTok daily, and we're pulling from late '90s and Y2K aesthetics, indie sleaze and 2014 Tumblr, '70s texture and shaggy hair, '90s supermodel glam, early clean-girl minimalism, and punk and alternative influences," says Liz Lorenzo Shears, another stylist at Benjamin Salon in West Hollywood. These influences may be nostalgic, but they feel extremely relevant for summer 2026, especially when they exude a relaxed, effortless aura.

Golden-Hour Blonde

Blonde is always particularly popular in the summer, but right now, "golden-hour blonde" is stealing the show. "For blonde, everything is going softer and more beach-washed," Mastrippolito says. "It’s warm beige and light golden tones that look naturally lifted after time in the ocean and sun. It feels effortless and expensive, with a focus on seamless grow-out and color that doesn't look overly maintained."

Meri Kate O'Connor, a Benjamin Salon Celebrity Colorist, agrees, saying balayage is the best technique to use. "For this look, golden ribbons are painted throughout the hair to create warm, sun-kissed dimension. Balayage naturally mimics the way the sun lightens hair (keeping it brighter around the face and on the ends), resulting in a multidimensional highlight that's warm and glowing while still maintaining depth and contrast. The technique also means a softer, more natural grow-out. Think Tate McRae and Gigi Hadid."

Butter Blonde

Butter blonde is just as trendy right now. "This golden blonde is mixed with lighter, brighter, near-white tones that are super shiny and soft," O'Connor says. "Gold reflects light, which gives the hair that luminous, polished finish. It's warm, effortless, and endlessly flattering. Think Margot Robbie and Sydney Sweeney."

Renée Valerie Radoiu, vice president, R+Color Education and R+Color Collective member, agrees. "Butter blonde is the golden refresh blondes crave between seasons. Warmer, brighter, and softly luminous, it can complement cooler skin tones while bringing a healthier glow back to hair that may feel a little faded after summer. Pro tip: Ask your colorist for a golden-gloss toner like R+Color Hypermatic 10 Minute Demi-Permanent Liquid Hair Color in Midas G9 at your next blonding appointment for that buttery finish."

Chase Kusero, cofounder of IGK Hair Care, says the emphasis on buttery tones points to a bigger trend. "Bright icy blondes are giving way to warmer, softer blondes that look naturally sunlit. Think creamy champagne, golden undertones, and expensive-looking dimension. Clients are gravitating toward color that grows out beautifully with less maintenance. Teddy Bear Bronde

Bronde (a combo of blonde and brown) is a natural choice for those of us who want lived-in color that grows out seamlessly and doesn't require endless salon appointments. "This is the perfect soft highlighted color for anyone looking for a blend of blonde and brunette without an obvious highlighted look," O'Connor says. "Blonde highlights are seamlessly blended into the hair and toned to a honey-beige that complements the natural base while adding warmth and shine. It's effortless, lived-in, and beautiful at every stage of the grow-out. Think Hailey Bieber."

Glossy Brunette

This season, the trendiest brunette hair color is any shade, as long as it's rich, glossy, and luminous. Yep, we're back to talking about hair health, folks. "Brunettes are leaning rich and glossy," Mastrippolito says. "The overall effect is healthy, reflective hair that catches sunlight in a really natural way, enhancing the depth of the base color rather than changing it dramatically.”

Don't be afraid to go rich and warm, rather than cool. Kusero says to ask for "caramel ribbons and soft dimension." It's not about dramatic contrast; rather, it's about a subtle and reflective finish. "This is the kind of color that catches light really beautifully. Keeping this color glossy is essential; IGK Paid In Full High-Gloss Intense Repair Treatment ($38) enhances shine and deeply nourishes hair."

Radoiu agrees. "Rich, glossy, absolutely not flat brunette is the mood right now. Think warmth, dimension, and chocolate tones that elevate the hair in a way that feels polished, luxe, and expensive."

Haircut Trends

The Bixie

Celebs love the bixie. In fact, it might be one of the biggest hair trends of the entire year, much less the summer. Zendaya, Jessie Buckley, and Gracie Abrams are all proponents of the ultra-chic haircut. "This cut is a hybrid between a bob and a pixie," says Leo Izquierdo, cofounder of IGK Hair Care. "It’s shorter and playful but softer than a traditional pixie, with longer pieces around the face and textured layers throughout."

Bonus points if you style it in a relaxed way that highlights your natural texture. It exudes effortlessness and will help preserve the health of your hair (no heat styling necessary). Plus, it gives off a chic South of France vibe.

The Soft Shag

Adam Federico is R+Co's vice president of technical education. He says the soft shag, or the "Sachel," is another low-effort, high-impact option for summer 2026. "The shag continues to evolve, and this summer it’s becoming more wearable. I’m seeing a lot of interest in what people call the 'Sachel,' which sits somewhere between a shag and the Rachel-inspired layered cut. It has face-framing pieces, soft texture, and movement through the lengths, but it’s not overly choppy or hard to grow out."

"I think it’s trending because it gives the hair a bit more personality. It makes natural texture feel intentional, and it has that undone, lived-in energy people love in summer. Curly Face-Framing Lob

Cataanda James is a trichologist and Dippity-Do curly hair expert. She says the curly 'fro and the curly face-framing lob are major hair trends for summer '26—the best one for you all depends on your curl pattern. "[It's] all about naturalism," she says. "Curl patterns 3B to 4C, sans heavy product application and forced definition, effortlessly form into an Afro because that is the personality of higher curl patterns. Curls defy gravity organically, and the true essence of the curly 'fro is its natural, upward flow forming a round, voluminous halo with authentic shape memory."

"On 2A to 3A curl patterns, it's all about strategic cutting, geographical angles, and style technique. Since looser curl patterns experience more of a downward pull and less lift, creating this look entails a global, 90-degree angled cut. Starting at the crown, the hair is held out from the scalp at 90 degrees and blunt cut at each point, ensuring not to lose your guide. You're essentially cutting the hair to form a complete circle, which is clearly visible when flipping the head upside down. This is where styling and technique come into play."

James says both haircuts are trending because they're the most effortless style for curly hair types. Effortless is IN. "This is the personality of curls and rather than being in a constant curl battle, the curlies are embracing it and flaunting their authenticity from head to toe. Ironically, in most cases, depending on the length, the curly 'fro is to the 3B to 4C curlies what the curly, face-framing lob is to the 2A to 3A girlies."

Hair Accessory Trends

Head Scarves

All nine celeb hairstylists and colorists say headscarves are the number one hair accessory trend for summer 2026. Yep, every single one. "Scarves are the editorial hair accessory of the moment," Lorenzo Shears says. "Designers are pushing them hard on runways right now. Silk scarves tied over hair, woven into braids, wrapped around buns, or worn Jackie O.– and Grace Kelly–style, tied under the chin. It's effortlessly chic."

Edgar Parra, senior stylist at Benjamin Salon in New York and West Hollywood, says silk scarves are particularly trendy. "Silk scarves are having a moment, but they’re being worn in a much more relaxed way, loosely tied into ponytails or wrapped into undone buns so they feel soft and unforced rather than styled," he says.

Silk scarves aren't just chic; they're practical. That's according to James, who says, "The biggest curly hair accessory of summer 2026 is the standard, square-size silk or satin scarf. It's protective to your curls, has no friction, and doubles as a headband, headwrap, hair tie, ponytail holder, scrunchie, and all the things! It's versatile, comes in a variety of colors and prints, and is easy to tote. Scarves are the ultimate accessory to your curls, and when styled properly, they can help you camouflage curls that have started to frizz or fray, or curls that have surpassed washday far too long. Designer labels or not, the scarf is the main character to adorn your curls all summer 2026!"

Claw Clips

Mensah says, "An Afro bob is a bob shaped specifically with textured hair in mind. It honours the density, movement and beauty of curls, coils or stretched natural hair, rather than forcing the hair into a shape designed for straighter textures. It can be sculpted soft and rounded, sharp and graphic, chin-length, shoulder-grazing or layered for lift and movement. The beauty of an Afro bob is that it celebrates shape."

Do Bobs Suit Afro Hair?

"Absolutely! Bobs can be beautiful on Afro hair. In many ways, textured hair gives a bob more character, volume and presence. The key lies in tailoring the cut to your curl pattern, density, shrinkage and how you like to wear your hair day to day. A good bob should work with your texture, not against it", says Mensah.

Tips for Getting a Bob with Afro Hair

• Book a consultation first and foremost so that you can speak to your stylist before doing anything. Understand the look you want to achieve, and talk through how your stylist will approach it. A lot can be uncovered in that conversation.
• Bring reference images to help communicate shape, fullness, length and finish, while giving your stylist something tangible to respond to. Come open-minded too, as the right bob should suit both your texture and your features.
• Wear your hair as you usually wear it so your stylist understands its natural behaviour. Talk about shrinkage, as a curly bob and a stretched bob can sit very differently. Be honest about maintenance, too. If you want ease, say so. If you enjoy styling, that opens up other possibilities.
• Face shape, neckline and the experience of the stylist all matter. A well-cut bob should frame you beautifully, and textured hair deserves someone who understands how to cut for shape.

The Best Bobs for Afro Hair

1. Blunt Bob

If you often blow-dry your hair, try opting for a one-length, also known as a blunt bob. It requires much lower upkeep than a traditional cut and less frequent trims, not to mention it looks sleek and intentional.

2. Layered Bob

If your hair has natural, different-length coils to it, embrace it in the form of a layered bob. This voluminous hairstyle will give your bob effortless structure and requires minimal styling to look chic.

3. Tapered Bob

How Do I Maintain a Bob with Afro Hair?

Mensah states that, “a bob thrives when the shape is preserved. I always say focus on moisture, shape and gentle upkeep."

She recommends the following:

1. A bob always looks its best when the hair is healthy.
2. Regular trims help maintain the line, usually every eight to twelve weeks.
3. Keep the hair hydrated, as dryness can make the shape harder to hold. Lightweight oils can help support softness and shine, while a nourishing styling pomade can be useful for defining shape and polishing the finish.
4. Protect the hair at night with silk or satin, and avoid overloading it with product so the hair keeps its movement. For silk pressed or stretched bobs, wrapping or pin-curling at night helps preserve the style beautifully.

Best Products for Afro Bobs

The Met Gala is in full swing, the editor commentary is still flooding in, and, ladies and gents, Ms. Hailey Bieber has made her 2026 red carpet appearance. Tonight, the star donned a sculptural Saint Laurent look (a perfect nod to this year's dress code) with an equally sculpted bun that's arguably the easiest Met Gala hair look to re-create—and I fully expect at least a dozen iterations by morning. Bieber, after all, holds a special power over our beauty choices. Remember when she debuted an internet-breaking blunt bob and immediately inspired thousands of salon appointments? Yeah, same here.

Irinel de León—the celebrity hairstylist responsible for Bieber's Met Gala 'do—predicts her perfectly tucked bun will similarly make a splash. "There’s definitely a shift toward sculptural, controlled hair right now, but I wanted to interpret that in a way that still feels modern and wearable," she exclusively tells Who What Wear. Scroll ahead to see the stunning style at every angle, plus the exact products and steps you need to achieve it.

"We wanted the bun to feel like a sculpture, very intentional and refined. It’s minimal, but every detail is considered so it almost reads like part of the garment," de León shares. Meaning, the bun may appear pretty simple at first glance, but make no mistake, its intentionally clean shape is carefully constructed—just like Bieber's 24K-gold breastplate. "I think we’ll see more hair that feels designed—clean shapes, high polish, but still soft," de León says regarding this year's hair trends. "People are moving away from overly effortless and into something more considered." It certainly helps that Bieber herself is metaphorically leading the charge.

To achieve her sculpted "goddess" bun, de León first applied a cocktail of Ouai's Leave-In Conditioner and Anti-Frizz Crème to Bieber's lengths, then rough-dried using the Dyson Airwrap Coanda2x Multi-Styler and Dryer. Once she removed the excess moisture, de León popped on the dryer's Large Round Volumizing Brush attachment to smooth out the strands in sections, then sealed in the shine with Ouai's Hair Oil. To secure the knot, de León brushed back Bieber's hair into a sleek ponytail, then attached clip-in extensions (Perlino by Priscilla Valles) before building the bun in sections. "The ends are fully tucked and hidden, which creates that seamless shape," de Leon shares. "Think of it as shaping, not just styling."

Finally, she topped off the look with a touch of Ouai's Hair Oil for shine. "The finish is not wet or stiff. It’s that perfect balance of shine and softness, which we achieved by layering lightweight products instead of anything heavy," she adds. And there you have it! If you haven't yet tuned in to the beauty and fashion feast that is the 2026 Met Gala, I officially welcome you to the party—virtually speaking, of course. This year's attendees are truly jaw-dropping (just take it from our live blog, which features real-time editor reactions), so much so that it's difficult to pick just one favorite red carpet look. Being the eager beauty editor I am, I also must call out the swoon-worthy makeup and hair, from Zoë Kravitz to Doja Cat to Nicole Kidman. I want to re-create them all!

Luckily, I just received insider intel on the latter. According to her longtime hairstylist Adir Abergel, Kidman and her daughter Sunday Rose stepped on the carpet donning 60 centimeters of extensions each (ahem, 120 centimeters total). That's a lot of hair. Keep scrolling to see the XL lengths from every angle, along with the steps and products you need to replicate each 'do.

"For Nicole and Sunday’s first Met Gala together, I wanted to create a meaningful connection for this special moment," Abergel says in a news release. "Hair became a subtle yet beautiful unifying thread, tying their looks together through a shared expression of modern elegance." Both looks are sleek and middle-parted, but when you gaze at them up close, you'll notice some low-key differences. Nicole's style, of course, featured eyelash-kissing fringe, while Sunday's long locks have a slight bend.

Abergel first brushed out Nicole's towel-dried hair using a Denman D38 Detangling Brush (his favorite), then prepped the strands with Virtue's Damage Reverse Serum and a few pumps of the brand's Healing Oil. "I began by blow-drying with a Denman paddle and Shark Beauty FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying System to get the bangs to sweep perfectly and create just the right amount of shine and polish to the hair," he notes.

Then came the extensions—namely, BHBD's 60-centimeter extensions in the shade 9NG/11N, which he says perfectly matched Nicole's color and texture. "To finish the look, I warmed a few drops of Virtue’s Healing Oil between my hands, gently tilted her head, and smoothed it through her long, golden locks for an added veil of luster and shine," he adds.

Sunday's style followed a similar lineup, only Abergel raked Virtue's 6-in-1 Styler through her locks and added a bit of Volumizing Primer at the roots before blow-drying. "This is a great base to create a strong and healthy foundation that will last all night," he shares. He used the same brush and Shark blow-dryer for a smooth, straight finish, then added BHBD extensions in the shades 5NG/6NG.

Then, instead of leaving her strands stick-straight, "I coiled some hair around my fingers and applied heat with the Shark Beauty FlexStyle to create an uneven slight bend throughout," Abergel explains. A touch of Healing Oil to seal in the shine, and there you have it—a stunning, Rapunzel-like hairstyle worthy of the 17-year-old's first Met. So, how do we achieve the slicked-back bun of dreams? I've enlisted the help of Luke Hersheson, celebrity hairstylist and founder of Hershesons (who also tends to the hair of Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller and Iris Law, to name but a few of his celebrity clientele), to share his top tips for achieving a perfectly sleek bun at home. How to Do a Slicked-Back Bun

Before you begin, there are a few tools and products you will need to get a professional-looking finish. "For this look, I recommend a mixed bristle brush, a styling cream like Hershesons Almost Everything Cream (£25), a texture spray, Frenchies hair pins and a hairspray like Got2b Glued Hairspray (£6)," says Hersheson.

"Second-day hair is ideal, especially if it’s already straight. Natural texture helps the product grip and hold the shape better than freshly washed hair," he says, so forgo your shampoo, as a little bit of oil will help to hold the hair in place.

1. Prep Hair

Begin with dry hair. If your hair is slippery or freshly washed, you can mist through some texturising spray to help give the hair some grit and hold. I'm using Oribe's Dry Texturising Spray (£47) through my lengths for extra grip.

2. Choose Parting

Next, it's time to choose your parting. "The parting completely changes the character of the style," says Hersheson. "No parting feels more androgynous and editorial, a side parting gives a slightly boyish, directional feel and a centre parting reads softer," he says. "The position of the bun also plays a role; lower buns feel more classic and polished, while higher placements feel more lifted and sportier."

3. Section Hair

If your lengths are on the longer or thicker side, it can be helpful to section your hair into two parts to help get a smooth finish and minimise bumps. Here, I've separated my hair into a top section and a bottom section with my tail comb, the latter of which I'll slick back into a ponytail first before repeating with the top section.

4. Apply Pomade

"Apply Almost Everything Cream generously through the lengths and roots," says Hersheson. This will help to provide hold and allow you to achieve a sleek and shiny result.

5. Slick Back

"Brush hair back (or into your chosen parting) using a mixed bristle brush, keeping tension firm to eliminate bumps," says Hersheson. Look for a hair brush with boar bristles that are densely packed together, as this will help to tuck all the hairs into a smooth finish. "Continue brushing until the hair sits flat and close to the head," he says. "Curly or coily hair requires more intensive brushing and product to get the hair as flat and compact as possible," he says.

6. Tie Hair

"Gather into a ponytail at your desired height, ensuring it stays tight and controlled and secure with an elastic. Keep the hair balanced and neutral in placement so the nape doesn’t drop or sag throughout the day," says Hersheson.

7. Slick Back Front

Next, you can repeat the sam process with the front section to join the ponytail, using a pomade and your brush to smooth the sections into place.

8. Twist Into Bun

"Twist the ponytail and wrap it around the base to form a bun and pin or secure the bun in place," says Hersheson.

9. Smooth Flyaways

If you have any shorter layers that don't quite reach or stubborn flyaways, Hersheson has some tips to remedy them. "Shorter pieces need extra control," he says. "Use more product and apply heat where needed to set those sections in place so they don’t shift or pop out." I like using a hair wax stick to provide more targeted control and boost the glossy finish.

10. Apply Hairspray

As a final step, you can then finish with hairspray for extra hold and gloss.

The Result

And there you have your slicked-back bun. It should feel secure, but never too tight, and last all day. For extra hold, you can go in with another blast of hairspray to ensure your slick-back bun stays in place all day and night.

Below, she's answering all of our rapid-fire questions, including her skin and makeup secrets, how she styles her current pixie cut, and more. Enjoy!

You're shaping the entire brand direction for Creme of Nature, and the Scalp Relief Wipes were your first product launch in the role. Take me through that process—did you go through multiple iterations? How did you land on the final formula?

It was pretty quick. My main thing was creating something that the girls could throw into their bag, especially when they are out doing fitness, have protective styles, in between meetings, or have edge buildup—different things like that. We don't often have the same accessibility that we have with makeup that we do with hair. That's where the idea came from. Once I had pitched the idea and we had spoken about it, they started iterating what it could look like [in terms of] packaging, and then I got the first trial of the product.

Creme of Nature is not a new company, and I feel like there's nowhere else that I could try so many innovative things with and immediately get great results. It's because of the history of the company. The main thing [I wanted] was that this wouldn't strip the hair. That was something that, going in, we had spoken about. I was like, "Okay, how do we clean up the buildup? How do we bring more longevity to the hair, whatever hairstyle it's in, with a focus on protective styles? How do we prolong this without stripping the hair of its oils?" That's how we got to where we are now.

Why was it important for you to work behind the scenes with Creme of Nature in this capacity? Is this something you've always wanted to do with a brand?

A lot of people think about Keke Palmer as a person, but for me, Keke Palmer is a company. This is a company I've been building with my family since I was a kid. Acting and influencing, telling stories of what I believe in, and creating something for the culture through my artwork has always been something that I've been architecting. For Creme of Nature to actually see that in me, to acknowledge what I've been able to do with my own brand and want me to lend that expertise to them, that's the direction that I want to move in. I love entertaining and being a talent, but I've always had so many other thoughts outside of that. Working with them was right in line with how I've continued to evolve as a businessperson.

I'd love to hear more about your own scalpcare journey. What's your current routine now, and how has that changed over the years?

It changes based on styles. I'll be honest with you. Obviously, over the last few years, [I've used] anything within the arsenal—both new and old—of Creme of Nature. It was probably a little more intensive when I actually had more hair. I was definitely doing more treatments, masks, sleeping with [conditioner] in, a bunch of different things. Now, it's a little bit more A-B-C, 1-2-3. I'm just using the shampoo, doing my conditioner, rinsing it out, and then I'll use the Foaming Mousse. The Foaming Mousse is the most critical product for me with my pixie because it's what molds the hair. I'm definitely heavy on the mousse. Then I'll put my hair under the dryer for about 40 minutes to an hour, then put a little bit of Shine Mist, run my fingers through it, maybe with a little bit of Edge Control on the edges and the tips to give my hair a little bit of texture and personality. Then I'm out the door.

It's pretty simple. I would maybe [have] more layers of conditioning the hair when it was longer. It's not that I don't do that now when it's shorter. It just takes much less time because I don't have as much hair.

Zooming out to some general beauty questions, if you had to leave the house in five minutes, what are a few beauty products you'd either apply or bring with you?

For fragrance, my mainstay is this Creed perfume. That's definitely going in the bag. I'm definitely bringing my La Roche-Posay SPF. There's a new one that's tinted. That's my number one favorite girl right now. I'm also bringing my shine mist, edge control, and the scalp wipes. Again, when I first came up with this idea of scalp wipes, I was mostly thinking about protective styles. They [bring] so much flexibility when you're in a protective style, especially when you have 4c hair and you're trying to work out and all that jazz. But one thing I realized was that it actually works with any [hair type]. With my short hair, I'm always doing stuff with the back, but then I don't want to wash and remold. A lot of times, I can just take some of that product off with the scalp wipes and then continue to go about my business. They're still a mainstay, surprisingly, even though I don't have as much hair as I used to have. You would think you wouldn't need it, but they are great for anything, and they slip right into the bag.

I always keep a little deodorant because, yeah, your girl perspires. This is natural. And then a little lip gloss. I love Laneige. I can't say that I have a [number one] favorite, but I definitely do like Laneige lip gloss.

Amazing. Which Creed perfume do you love?

It's Carmina.

You've also mentioned in the past that you've struggled with hyperpigmentation and acne, but honestly, every time I see a photo or a video of you, I'm always like, "Oh my god, her skin looks perfect." So I need to know: What are your secrets, be it skincare or makeup?

Oh my gosh, thank you. Well, a big thing I'll say to anybody that has ever dealt with skin troubles to the intensity that I have [is that] a dermatologist is number one. Sometimes, you might need a topical medication. You might need an oral medication, so I would say don't be afraid to take that step and help yourself. We're all made differently. Sometimes, we need more support, internally or externally. I love holistic [remedies], but sometimes, you need more support, and I think that's okay.

Secondly, I keep it quite simple. I like La Roche-Posay's Mela B3 Cleanser because it helps with the hyperpigmentation I've had to deal with. It helps attack that for me. That's really helpful. They also have a really great retinol serum that I like and use. I've always loved their SPFs because they don't burn my eyes. Their basic one is great, but then they also have a new one that's tinted that I really, really love. I like to do my makeup very lightly, so I'll put this SPF on, then I'll put on any type of cream blush, do my brows, do my mascara, maybe line the lips—maybe not—then lip gloss, and I'm out the door. The tint doesn't give you makeup coverage, but it gives you enough coverage to where you feel blemish-free but also natural. I haven't gotten a facial in a really long time, which is crazy, but I'm big on a facial or two. I think that's important.

Yeah, with skin texture, people sometimes think that you should put more base makeup on, but actually, less is more in that regard.

Yes, it is because [makeup] clogs everything.

Totally. Well, I want to go back to what you said about switching up your hair looks. Are you hoping to dabble in any spring or summer beauty trends? Any fun hair and makeup looks you want to try?

What do I want to try? I mean, I already have super-thin brows. I don't know if that's a trend or if it's just a timeless thing we get in and out of. I feel like it's been big in every era. So I definitely have my thin brows going on. My hair is colored, and that's going to remain. I've got to be honest. I'm not always overly engaged with all the trends. I'm involved in culture. I see what's happening, and I know how to play in and out, but I don't always know what the exact trends are. But I'm open! I just like to have fun expressing myself. When I feel the need to change, then I do it. Other times when I'm like, 'Let me just sit in this vibe,' then I'll stay. I definitely march to the beat of my own drum.

Yeah, you're not someone who subscribes to the seasonality of it all.

Yes, and not even to be resistant. It's just because I don't always know where to even look for that kind of thing, but if I see something that I like, I'll definitely join in and play along.

Totally. Is there anything you've seen that you liked recently?

I love the [faux] freckles. That's really fun. It's a very cute little detail that adds texture to the skin. Especially if you are somebody that has struggled with skin stuff, I think those are really fun ways to lean into uniqueness. Aside from that, I love pimple patches. Those are really cute. I'm into that.

Is there a certain freckle pen or pimple patch that you love right now?

The pimple patches are Starface. I like the star patches that come in the green box. For the freckles, there's actually a pen called Freckled. I got it off of Instagram somewhere, and that's what I use.

You're the second person who's told me recently they bought a freckle pen off of Instagram!

Girl, they be selling it. They're about to pull it up for me now, now that they've heard me say it to you on the phone. You know how it is with this algorithm and everything—they're listening.

They really are. Well, I know we're at time, so I'll go ahead with my last question. What is your Unfiltered beauty philosophy in seven words or less?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In seven words or less, that's all I got.

Bridal beauty next year will be defined by pared-back romance rooted in unique aesthetics associated with the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries and "blink and you'll miss it" details. Think heart-wrenching Wuthering Heights drama meeting the quiet simplicity of Pride & Prejudice. Combining lightly flushed cheeks to enhance or alter your face shape, windswept tresses pulled into undone buns, and short nails in milky tones, bridal beauty trends in 2027 will lean away from the minimalist, structured looks and toward looks reminiscent of a pensive Jane Austen heroine or a Brontë-style haunted lover with a dash of golden-age Hollywood. I scanned the runways and showrooms for the beauty moments worth re-creating, from the playful finishes at the high-energy Tanner Fletcher presentation to the pillow-soft complexions of Monique Lhuillier framed by layers of lace. Ready to officially say "I do" to the trends that made their appearances during this year's New York Bridal Fashion Week? Keep reading to discover the dreamy hair, makeup, and manicure moments that were showcase during the event and will be floating down the aisle in a matter of months.

Once upon a time, there was a bride who, after endless wedding-hairstyling trials of cascading curls and sleek chignons, opted to add texture to her tresses with an editorial twist. The Alexandra Grecco S/S 27 bridal collection—Dream, Baby, Dream—paired elegant silhouettes featuring subtle nods to Ziegfeld Follies with dimensional short crops and textural buns crowned with sweeping veils, cream-colored plumes, and wired headpieces. Meanwhile, House of Gilles's spring 2027 bridal collection balanced structure with softness as models posed in dramatic couture gowns with bleached and slicked-back strands that had a wet look. Whether you decide to embrace your inner silver-screen siren or try a bold pixie, a lightweight styling spray for instant texture and hold paired with frizz-taming styling cream can create the look you're after.

The dewy, luminous complexions that captured our attention throughout 2025 are finally giving way to the velvet textures and whispered elegance of soft-matte bridal makeup. The Enaura Kantha collection delivered vintage and romantic looks with modern sophistication in strong silhouettes and French lace. The timeless makeup its models wore demonstrated the artistic intentionality behind the 2027 designs. Soft-matte complexions were warmed and sculpted with bronzer, then balanced with dewy blush. Elie Saab's approach to the trend combined blurred skin with full brows and a pale-pink wash of color on the lips that gave an otherwise minimalist makeup look a bold focal point.

Cherubic, rococo-inspired makeup took over the bridal week runways this year, notably with blush added to the cheeks for a natural flush of color in petal pink and berry. Tanner Fletcher's S/S 27 collection was unveiled as a modern Cinderella retelling with playful pastels. Cassandra Garcia, the Bobbi Brown global pro artist behind the enchanting makeup look, shared it was inspired by Marie Antoinette, incorporating fun, flirty touches and an extra dash of blush. "We're playing with beautiful pastel tones on the eyes paired wit a softly bitten lip that's perfectly imperfect," Garcia says. "The overall effect is fresh, playful, and effortlessly feminine." Monique Lhuillier's, Sarah Seven's, and Elie Saab's collections offered similar takes on the sweet trend with a blurred, watercolor-like effect that added a flush of color and gentle definition.

A year ago, wedding manicure trends championed "your nails but better" shades, medium lengths, and little-to-no art besides a micro French tip, but in 2027, manicures are venturing into a world of milky shades with pearlescent finishes. For Tanner Fletcher's show, manicures were kept short and clean in decadent, creamy pastels and neutrals to match the bridal collection (which included minidresses mischievously adorned with cherries and whipped cream and cream-colored gowns with floral waist detailing). At Alexandra Grecco, cool-toned metallic nails felt modern, retro, and everything in between. For milky nails, opt for pigmented cream, baby blue, and chrome with a whisper of white.

The Honor, Alexandra Grecco, and Ines Di Santo spring/summer 2027 bridal collections featured vintage-inspired designs with beaded detailing and floor-sweeping hemlines and were presented with makeup looks with a hint of shimmer. Garcia says Ines Di Santo's makeup reflected the two distinct collections introduced, each with a unique expression of modern beauty. "The look centers on a subtle wash of color across the eyes and lips balanced by luminous, radiant skin," she explains. "It's a refined, contemporary take on the blushing bridge—fresh, polished, and effortlessly elegant." Honor's Collection XII celebrated the end of the ceremony (the bride's swan song) with silhouettes and swan motifs inspired by the late 1950s and early 1960s. The beauty echoed this, with makeup featuring a clean, dewy base and a sparkling splash of color across the cheek and eyes.

The “bratty little side bang” (BLSB for short) has attitude. She’s bold, defiant and bratty in the complimentary, Charli XCX–anointed sense. And by all accounts, she’s back—ready to take over spring and summer hair trend mood boards like the early 2000s diva she is. Cue the iconic hair flip.

“I am endlessly inspired by what I’ll call an ‘early 2000s hot suburban mom,’” says content creator Natalie Shine, who actually coined the BLSB during a trim back in January. Think Julie Cooper from The O.C., whom Shine credits as a key reference. Like the majority of beauty fans, she was craving a haircut refresh to kick off 2026, and it's no secret that nostalgic styles—including side fringes and side partings—have skyrocketed in popularity as of late. “The side bang was calling,” Shine says. And so the BLSB was born.

Shine isn’t the only one to hop on the side-bang bandwagon. Plenty of celebs (such as Bella Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, and Quenlin Blackwell, to name a few), designers (such as Sandy Liang and Tory Burch), and beauty insiders (like makeup artist Lila Childs) have cosigned swoopy side bangs over the past few months, and top hairstylists only expect the trend to soar as we edge closer to warmer weather.

“We’re in a moment [where] huge waves of early 2000s nostalgia are coming back in full swing,” explains celebrity hairstylist Sky Kim. “We’re seeing it across fashion, beauty and culture—but the difference now is that it’s more self-aware.” Campy, if you will. One who dons a BLSB is plugged into the Y2K reference and likely has the low-rise jeans and frosty eye makeup to match it.

But what separates the BLSB from its early 2000s predecessor? “It’s shorter, slightly piece-y, and sits higher on the cheekbone or just at the brow, almost like it’s been flicked into place,” says Kim. “It doesn’t try to blend perfectly into the rest of the haircut, which is what gives it that attitude.” According to celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan, it's also full of fluffy volume. “It’s not as literal as it was before,” he shares. See, while Y2K side bangs were typically flat-ironed into submission and, as a result, flopped lifelessly over the eye, “this year, the ‘bitchy little side bang’ is sexy and messy,” McMillan says. “It’s all about a flirty, voluminous hairstyle.”

Kim agrees—gone are the days of heavy, uniform, smoothly tucked side fringe. "The 2026 version keeps the reference but strips away the stiffness—it’s lighter, airier. Also, older bangs just came with really chunky highlights and layers," she says.

To ensure your BLSB appears fresh and updated while retaining just the right amount of nostalgia, she recommends lightly prepping the bangs with a blow-dry primer or touchable hair mousse (“Something that gives control without stiffness,” she says) before blow-drying from side to side with a small round brush. Shine personally separates her bangs into three layers before blow-drying (a key tip she learned from her stylist, Aurora, at Yves Durif Salon) to encourage bounce. Finish with hair spray for that side-part hold and a bit of hair oil to enhance the shine.

A final tip? “Keep the bang at the right length and don’t over-blend,” Kim suggests. “Isolate the bang to let it have a moment.” While traditional side bangs tend to be softer, more romantic, and long enough to melt into layers, the BLSB has enough personality to stand out on its own. It’d be a sin not to embrace the attitude.

After the vows are declared, the cake is sliced, and all the painstaking planning has (finally!) paid off, the recent bride deserves some good ol' fashioned self-care—a factory reset, if you will. Some couples choose to head straight into the honeymoon, others decide to get a jump start on thank-you notes or flip through early photos, but most find some way to take a beat and revel in the post-wedding bliss. Gabi, an e-commerce coordinator getting married on April 26, is heading straight to the salon chair.

"I have already scheduled an appointment to cut my hair into a bob on April 29, three days after the wedding," she tells me. Talk about hitting the reset button, but Gabi's certainly not alone. While not every bride proactively plans their post-wedding chop, a significant number (including yours truly!) do decide to get a dramatic haircut soon after saying "I do"—some even immediately following the ceremony for a bold reception moment—be it a bob, lob, pixie, or something in between (ever heard of a bixie?).

The question is… why?

Why Is It Common to Cut Your Hair After Your Wedding?

We'll start with the more practical reason: A bunch of brides (self included) intentionally grow out their hair for the wedding day. "There’s an expectation that bridal hair feels soft, effortless, and romantic, and longer lengths help achieve that," explains hairstylist Paul Perez, co-owner of Flore Los Angeles. That's not to say shorter crops don't exude romance. A sculpted bob or pixie is just as timeless, and ultimately, the best bridal hairstyle is the one that makes you feel most beautiful on your special day.

However, for brides-to-be who aren't totally sure which style to pick, longer locks do generally provide more flexibility to play with different trends—twists, updos, et al. "In fact, almost 99% of the time, you add even more hair in the form of extensions," notes celebrity hairstylist Temur Hamilton (who cut my own lob about a month ago!).

Of course, keeping longer strands healthy is often a time-consuming process, so once the "I dos" are done, it makes sense that those brides would have had enough of that maintenance. My own lengths were particularly dry and brittle post-wedding (highlights, extensions, and a last-minute chemical treatment will do that to you), so chopping off the damage felt like the right move.

But according to neuropsychologist Sanam Hafeez, PsyD, there's more to the bride-to-bob pipeline than meets the eye. "In my practice, clients mention it almost in passing, the way you bring something up when you don't realize it's significant. 'I just felt like cutting it after the wedding,'" she says. "When we slow down and look at it, there's almost always something underneath. A quiet exhale. A reclaiming of self after months of being, in some ways, a walking event."

See, unless you're a celebrity who frequents the press-tour circuit, there are likely very few times in your life when you spend hours in the glam chair for a highly photographed occasion. Hell, even celebrities we do consider red carpet regulars have followed the bride-to-bob pipeline. Consider model Taylor Hill, who married private equity investor Daniel Fryer in June 2023. By that September, she was sporting a textured pixie. And while we aren't 100% sure whether Zendaya and Tom Holland *actually* tied the knot, I can't ignore the fact that she debuted a noticeably shorter bixie during Paris Fashion Week, just days after stylist Law Roach declared them married at the 2026 Actor Awards. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I'm adding the chop to my list of reasons it's plausible. (She also showed up to the Louis Vuitton fall/winter 2026 show wearing a gold wedding band on her left ring finger. I digress!)

For brides, the stakes are high, the pressure is on, and even with an abundance of love in the room, the production itself can understandably trigger some overwhelm. "One of my very best friends chopped her [hair] off six weeks after her wedding," Hafeez adds. "When I asked her why, she just laughed and replied, 'I felt like myself again.' She lacked the words to explain why, but I understood what she meant."

Hair is also intimately tied to identity, and when yours evolves, it's common to crave a cut to mark that internal shift. It's similar logic to the "breakup bangs" stereotype, which involves a drastic hair change to shed the past and emerge anew, but a dramatic cut doesn't necessarily have to signal trauma. As Hafeez explains, "it just requires transition." While breakup bangs symbolize detachment—literally shearing off a piece of your past—"bridal bobbing is more subtle, less 'escaping,' more 'arriving,'" she adds. "But the principle's the same: I am newly me, and I need my outer self to match my new inner self."

That identity shift happens rather subliminally (it's not like you wake up the day after your wedding and feel like a brand-new person), and it's not necessarily a bad thing—quite the opposite, in fact! "Happiness and transformation are not mutually exclusive," Hafeez adds. "Sometimes you can experience the happiest of life changes and still find yourself on a threshold, itching to commemorate that crossing. The salon chair, it turns out, is a remarkably common place to do that."

How to Choose a Post-Wedding Chop

Okay, so you're craving a dramatic cut. It's clear you're not alone, but stylists do have some tips to ensure you wind up with the most flattering crop. "The bob haircut is my favorite. It’s sexy, chic, mature, and it offers a lot of versatility," shares Hamilton. He recommends opting for a French bob or '90s bob with a swishy, voluminous silhouette. "I love a clean blunt bob for something chic and strong," Perez adds, "or a softer, layered cut with movement for a more effortless feel."

Some bobs—like the aforementioned French variety—were practically made to pair with bangs, so feel free to add some fringe too if you'd like. According to Perez, bangs or face-framing pieces "can also help personalize the look." (Just be prepared to put in a little more maintenance—bang styling is not for the faint of heart!) I'd recommend starting there, and if you wind up craving something even shorter down the line, keep cutting for a micro-bob or bixie moment or go full throttle with a pixie.

The “bitchy little side bang” (BLSB for short) has attitude. She’s bold, defiant, and bratty in the complimentary, Charli XCX–anointed sense. And by all accounts, she’s back—ready to take over spring and summer mood boards like the early 2000s diva she is. Cue the iconic hair flip.

“I am endlessly inspired by what I’ll call an ‘early 2000s hot suburban mom,’” says content creator Natalie Shine, who actually coined the BLSB during a trim back in January. Think Julie Cooper from The O.C., whom Shine credits as a key reference. Like the majority of beauty fans, she was craving a hair refresh to kick off 2026, and it's no secret that nostalgic styles—including side bangs and side parts—have skyrocketed in popularity as of late. “The side bang was calling,” Shine says. And so the BLSB was born.

Shine isn’t the only one to hop on the side-bang bandwagon. Plenty of celebs (such as Bella Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, and Quenlin Blackwell, to name a few), designers (such as Sandy Liang and Tory Burch), and beauty insiders (like makeup artist Lila Childs) have cosigned swoopy side bangs over the past few months, and top hairstylists only expect the trend to soar as we edge closer to warmer weather.

“We’re in a moment [where] huge waves of early 2000s nostalgia are coming back in full swing,” explains celebrity hairstylist Sky Kim. “We’re seeing it across fashion, beauty, and culture—but the difference now is that it’s more self-aware.” Campy, if you will. One who dons a BLSB is plugged into the Y2K reference and likely has the low-rise jeans and frosty eye makeup to match it.

But what separates the BLSB from its early 2000s predecessor? “It’s shorter, slightly piece-y, and sits higher on the cheekbone or just at the brow, almost like it’s been flicked into place,” says Kim. “It doesn’t try to blend perfectly into the rest of the haircut, which is what gives it that attitude.” According to celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan, it's also full of fluffy volume. “It’s not as literal as it was before,” he shares. See, while Y2K side bangs were typically flat-ironed into submission and, as a result, flopped lifelessly over the eye, “this year, the ‘bitchy little side bang’ is sexy and messy,” McMillan says. “It’s all about a flirty, voluminous hairstyle.”

Kim agrees—gone are the days of heavy, uniform, smoothly tucked side fringe. "The 2026 version keeps the reference but strips away the stiffness—it’s lighter, airier. Also, older bangs just came with really chunky highlights and layers," she says.

To ensure your BLSB appears fresh and updated while retaining just the right amount of nostalgia, she recommends lightly prepping the bangs with a blow-dry primer or touchable mousse (“Something that gives control without stiffness,” she says) before blow-drying from side to side with a small round brush. Shine personally separates her bangs into three layers before blow-drying (a key tip she learned from her stylist, Aurora, at Yves Durif Salon) to encourage bounce. Finish with hair spray for that side-part hold and a bit of oil to enhance the shine (McMillan’s Glassy Smooth Hair Oil is a must), and you’re set.

A final tip? “Keep the bang at the right length and don’t over-blend,” Kim suggests. “Isolate the bang to let it have a moment.” While traditional side bangs tend to be softer, more romantic, and long enough to melt into layers, the BLSB has enough personality to stand out on its own. It’d be a sin not to embrace the attitude.

You recently starred in John Frieda's Hot Hair Hotline campaign. I'm curious—what does "hot girl hair" mean to you?

I think I feel most confident and that my hair is the hottest when I have that messy, bedhead volume. … An undone version of myself is my hottest hair.

What would you say are the essentials?

The volumizing spray is amazing. I just bump my roots with it, and it adds so much volume. That's the main ingredient if I have to choose one product to give me that sexy, undone hair.

I feel like you're known for that '90s supermodel, bouncy style. Do you have any blowout tips?

Oh my gosh. Okay, this is going to sound horrible. I'm so bad at my own blowouts, but I have a hack. I used to do this, even when I would have no money in New York. I would get [a salon blowout] once a week, and it would last me four or five days because I would just put in texturizing spray, throw in some volume spray, and then it just got sexier as time went on. Luckily, with Baywatch, I'm getting glam every day, so I'll just make those blowouts last. It's nice because we're on the beach. We're in the ocean, so the hair gets salty. It's the lived-in blowout [that I love].

I try to be so low-maintenance with my hair. I'll wake up, hit it with a brush, bump it with the texturizing spray, maybe a little dry shampoo, and that's pretty much it. [John Frieda] is my go-to right now. I've literally just been using one product and doing a little tease.

Love it. Do you think you'll ever change up your signature look? Is there any shot of going back to brunette, or are there any other ways you think you might experiment?

As my style evolves and as I enter new eras or new roles, I'll change it up. I've never been a big slick-back girly, so I think it'll always be something down. That's when I feel most confident.

I totally agree. I'm not a big slick-back person either, so I feel that.

My sister is, and I get it. She nails it, but I cannot.

This interview is for a Who What Wear series called Unfiltered, so I obviously need to hear your unfiltered beauty thoughts. What would you say are your top three beauty hot takes?

Such a hard one. Okay, I know everyone loves the natural-girl glam, like no-makeup makeup, but I'm from the South. I grew up on pageant culture, and I love a full beat. I don't care what anyone says. I love doing my own makeup and going all out. I'm a little bit more of a maximalist. I do think it's pretty when people wear minimal makeup, but that's my hot take.

What else do I not like right now? I'm not into everyone thinning their eyebrows out.

Yeah, I always hesitate to follow brow trends because they just jump back and forth so quickly.

I know, and then sometimes, the hair won't go back, so you've got to be careful.

Well, I love what you said about full glam. Speaking of, if you had to leave the house in five minutes, what are some beauty products that you'd either apply or bring with you?

Obviously, I'd bring the John Frieda Volume Lift Pushed-Up Texture Spray. [Being on] the beach and running around, you need it. I would bring Charlotte Tilbury's Airbrush Powder because it's the best, and I would bring the Clarins Lip Oil—my current favorite right now.

I also love that one. What do you love about it?

I just like the applicator. It's so easy. The product is so juicy, and it lasts. … With lip oils, I absorb them so quickly, and this one actually stays on.

You famously mentioned on Love Thy Nader that you prefer to use your sisters' toothbrushes. Do you also share beauty products?

Oh god. We share everything. Everything is fair game in our family. Our getting-ready routine is all of us together in one bathroom. No matter how big the house we're getting ready in is, we're on top of each other. We're like, "Wait a minute—what's this? Is this new in your kit?" [We're] stealing everything. So anytime one of us gets a new product, it's part of all of our routines.

So fun. Is there anything they saw recently from your bag that you guys started swapping?

I have these mini perfumes—I carry them everywhere—and they're gone. Every time I go to the drawer to look for them, they're completely gone. Of course, they deny it. They're like, "No, that was you. You just don't remember. You have ADD." I'm like, "No, that was you!" I'm about to install some sneaky cameras to bust them.

You should! What perfume was it?

It's a French brand. They sent me a gazillion samples. It's called Maison d'Etto. It's so amazing. Mine is called Durban Jane, if I'm not mistaken. They have four or five different options, and they're all amazing. I get so many compliments, and so do my sisters, I guess.

What kind of fragrances do you typically gravitate toward, and does that one align with your signature scent?

Kind of! I'm all over the place. I have a top three or four, and this one's a little more musky than flowery, but I like it.

Okay, moving on to Baywatch. Are there any on-set beauty tips you can share?

We just started filming this week, and it's been a dream. There is this spray sunscreen that the makeup artist has been using on me. It's amazing because it gives your body this little sheen glow. It's just Neutrogena from CVS. It's almost a body glow mixed with sunscreen, and I'm addicted to it. And then my makeup artist in New York was like, "Oh, I use that all the time for red carpets." So it's a thing.

Oh, that's interesting. You wouldn't think a sunscreen would be a red carpet staple.

I know! It's insane. It's so beautiful and looks so natural.

I also bring my John Frieda spray on set, and [the hairstylists] absolutely love it. They're like, "This stuff is amazing." So I gave them a bottle to keep in my trailer.

Now, moving on to skincare. You've always been so open about the cosmetic treatments that you've done, which people really appreciate. What's something you've done recently—whether it's a high-tech facial, a type of Botox, or an injectable—that you would say is 100% worth it?

Ooh. You know, I've been going to The LA Facialist [Candace Marino] now that I'm here, and she did this one thing on me called liquid microneedling. It's so crazy. It's almost a balm she puts on, and then it beads up and is a little rough. It does what microneedling does without the downtime. I'm kind of obsessed with it, and I never heard about it. I was scared to try it, but it was amazing.

I've actually done that before! Did you find that it hurt?

It hurt so badly! She was like, "It's not bad," and then after, my face was on fire. Was yours?

Yes, and every time you touch it, you can feel the little spikes! But it was so worth it.

I know. Every time I touched my face, I was like, "Do I have needles inside?" It was worth it. I felt like it changed my skin.

As we're heading into summer, what summer beauty trends are you hoping to follow this season?

I'm going to try to wear more sunscreen. Last summer, I just went all out. I was like, whatever! [Laughs] It's terrible of me, so I'm going to work on that.

Amazing. Well, this is a question that we end all of our Unfiltered interviews with: What is your Unfiltered beauty philosophy in seven words or less?

I would say more is more. More treatments—within a line. I just touched on this recently. I did some silly things and got some surgeries when I was way too young. Now, I'm done with all of that, and I'm reversing everything. I dissolved all of my filler. I'm being more natural in that sense, but I'm doing all the facials, lymphatic drainage, and all the treatments without going too far.

And full glam, as you said. More is more.

Yeah, why not? I love it. Sorry, I really like what I look like when I have a full beat!

This spring, the pros predict a slew of bobs (get ready to call your stylist!), but not all crops are created equal. For those craving a bolder statement, allow me to introduce you to the square bob, which is a blunt cut with even weight on either side of the ears and across the back of the neck, making it look, well, square. It's wonderfully chic, especially for those with thicker locks, just know that your ends will be on full display with this clean, geometric shape, so definitely load up on moisturizing, cuticle-sealing oils to keep them looking nice and healthy.

Softly Sculpted Bob

For those who can't give up a little layering, stylists also softly sculpted bobs to reign supreme this spring. Sculpted ends give the cut shape, yet "[it] has movement and texture so it feels modern and wearable," celebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath shares. Imagine a bixie or a French bob, both of which have softly sculpted lines. Speaking of bixies, they deserve their own moment! From Teyana Taylor to Jessie Buckley to Gracie Abrams to Zendaya, celebs cannot stop flaunting these bob-pixie hybrids on the red carpet, and stylists only expect them to soar throughout the warmer months. "It's a great style to have if you want to confidently grow out your pixie and not feel insecure about having that awkward grow-out stage," celebrity hairstylist Nikki Nelms previously told Who What Wear of the award-season trend. "Since it's already a cool style, the grow-out will appear to be intentional." If you've ever had the urge to go super, super short, this spring is the perfect time.

Heath, Giannetos, and Stephen all agree: Layers are hot this spring. Specifically, "invisible layers" are one to watch. Says Giannetos, "They are incredibly subtle but make a big difference in how the hair falls and moves. [The cut] gives my clients that effortless, polished look without blunt lines or chunkiness." "I think [layers] became a bit underrated with the popularity of the bob, as everyone wants those one-length, sharp, clean, slim [cuts]," Stephen adds. "But I believe those clients are craving some volume and movement—that’s where the layers come in!" I've said it once, and I'll say it again: Bangs of all kinds are dominating the 2026 hair space. Heath agrees. "Fringe is definitely having a moment again," she shares, noting that face-framing wisps will be extra popular this spring—largely because they blend so well into layers. "Softer, piece-y fringe will start gaining traction as people look for ways to update their look without committing to a dramatic change," Giannetos adds, recommending clip-in bangs for those who want to test the waters worry-free.

"People are also starting to move away from their go-to part, experimenting with soft side parts or more tousled, natural placements," shares Heath. Finally, "I think we’re going to trade our flat irons in for curling irons this spring," Stephen declares. "Curls and texture will be on the menu. Fluffy—no more pin straight hair." According to Priscilla Choi, colorist at NYC The Team, founded by Michelle Hong, the platinum and icy, silver blondes we've grown so accustomed to seeing will be exchanged for warmer shades of blonde this spring, reflecting a shift towards natural, low-maintenance shades. "The reason behind this change is simple. Hair trends are moving away from ultra-cool, high-maintenance tones towards warmer, more natural, and face-flattering hues that require fewer salon visits and grow out effortlessly," she explains.

Ouidad stylist Mirsad Lajqi echoes this sentiment, adding that while the highly bleached, icy, and platinum hues will be dying down, we'll see the rise of lived-in, warm shades like butter blonde, teak, and more, "with soft dimension [that] feels healthier." While previous spring hair color trend cycles embraced the vibrant pinks, vivid reds, and futuristic silvers and grays from the runways, Choi tells us this year's mainstream spring color palette is shifting towards more wearable, natural tones that will enhance your features rather than transform them.

According to Hayes the key to the lazy bob haircut is a combination of the length and the finish. “It sits somewhere between the chin and shoulders and never feels too structured or overly polished,” he explains. In fact, its secret lies in the fact that this bob actually isn’t a one-length cut despite looking very much like one. “It actually has cleverly concealed layering which slims the silhouette and gives a relaxed and undone texture,” explains Tom Smith, hair stylist, trend forecaster, and founder of Aevum Salon. Despite its laidback look then, the lazy bob can actually be personalised precisely to your hair texture and thickness, unlike a more classic cut.

“It’s ideal for medium hair density that has a wave or loose curl naturally, but on thicker hair, concealed layers can provide a real opportunity to contour and shape the silhouette, whilst on fine hair, the bluntness of the ends can help add the appearance of thickness,” explains Smith.

What to Ask For

If you’re looking for inspo to take with you into the salon, then Hailey Bieber is the undeniable queen of this look at the moment, but there are specific things you can ask for to ensure you leave with the perfect lazy bob “I’d recommend asking for a soft, shoulder-skimming bob with minimal layering and natural texture,” advises Hayes. “You want the weight to sit through the ends so that the hair looks healthy and full, but with enough softness so it moves naturally and doesn’t feel too blunt or geometric.”

Infiniti's looks—from head to toe—are always the talk of the town, and tonight is no different. The One Battle After Another star wears her sweeping tresses in goddess braids, showcasing how stunning natural hair looks with this trend. The last time Sofia Richie Grainge made a dramatic hair transformation, she set the internet ablaze. Read: nearly 10 million TikTok views and 6000 comments gushing over the polished, "Princess Diana" vibe. Just yesterday, Grainge shared a mirror selfie on Instagram with the caption "Big plans," donning a leopard print tote, gray cardigan, black sunnies, and noticeably darker locks. She's of course alluding to welcoming her baby next week (!), but by sharing said plans, Grainge unwittingly influenced our own. I know I'm not the only one who immediately screenshotted the photo to show my colorist!

Luckily, I was able to score details on her buttery "caramelized brunette" hue straight from her stylists at Flore Los Angeles. Scroll ahead to re-create what's bound to become spring's hottest hair color.

According to Flore's lead colorist Jess Gonzalez, caramelized brunette is "perfect for the spring seasonal transition." Warm and shiny, the rich hue includes soft golden tones that effortlessly catch the light, adding a candlelit halo that's very on-trend for the season.

"It taps into the quiet luxury approach to brunette hair," Gonzalez exclusively tells Who What Wear. "As the seasons change, color trends tend to move toward tones that feel sunlit and natural. After years of ultra-ashy brunettes, many people are ready for something softer. Ashy tones can often read flat in photos as well and lack warmth. Caramelized brown offers the perfect middle ground, blending a neutral base with a golden reflection that adds softness, glow, and dimension."

That neutral, warm-toned base also tends to be easier to maintain, since hair color naturally warms up in between salon appointments. (Although, there's a difference between intentionally warm color and hair that just looks brassy—more on that later.) It's the perfect choice for Grainge, who will likely put regular hair touch-ups on the back burner for a bit after giving birth.

I suspect that's also why celebrity hairstylist Nicolas Flores, co-founder and owner of Flore, gave Grainge a low-maintenance cut with her caramelized color. “We’re growing out Sofia’s bob, so we added a soft face-framing layer to the cut, complemented by fringe curtain bangs to keep the shape effortless as it evolves," he shares. As we come to the end of fashion month, I thought it was only right to cast my eyes over the Paris Fashion Week hair trends from this season. The Autumn/Winter 2026 shows have been a total feast for the eyes for hair trends, makeup trends and nail trends. However, as much as I love gawping at the runway shows and spying on the beauty trends backstage, there is nothing I love more than spotting what beauty looks the fashion week attendees are wearing themselves.

You see, I always appreciate the incredible avant-garde beauty moments you see on the runways, but they aren't always the most wearable of looks to pull off day-to-day. If you booked a haircut last year and experienced a brief identity crisis at the wash bowl ("Should I… get baby bangs?"), it's likely that Ariana Grande's or Zoë Kravitz's major red carpet appearances swayed your subconscious. It may not always be obvious, but award season has an iron grip on our beauty choices. For some, the approximately four-month blip simply spotlights the best in film, television, and music. For fashion and beauty enthusiasts? It's the style Olympics and a blueprint for all the trends that will trickle down.

This year's stunning crop of looks is no different, immediately dropping jaws in both the fashion and beauty departments. Inspiration abounds this award season—no doubt about that—but re-creating the celeb-level glam tends to be a tad more practical than said spectacular fashion moments. You see, I may not wear a custom Swarovski gown à la Amelia Gray Hamlin (a girl can dream), but I can surely replicate her equally shimmering glam with the right highlighter and swipe of pretty lilac shadow before it dominates the spring makeup space.

Just before we reach the pinnacle of award season, I present to you Who What Wear's inaugural Red Carpet Report: your one-stop destination for all the A-list beauty trends across the 2026 award circuit. Below, I'm cross-referencing carpets and highlighting the patterns poised to dominate the rest of the year along with artist tips for re-creating each look and the exact products used on all the household names. Go ahead and get acquainted. You'll be seeing these trends take shape sooner than you think.

Mermaid-Level Lengths

Bobs certainly aren't going anywhere, but the pendulum is starting to swing toward extra-long, mermaid-like strands. Consider the waist-skimming tresses of Zara Larsson—who resembled a real-life mermaid with her midriff-baring yellow two-piece—Halle Bailey, and Daniela Avanzini of Katseye at the Grammys and Tessa Thompson, Blackpink's Lisa, and Chase Infiniti at the Golden Globes.

"I think there's an effortlessness to the mermaid hair that is refreshing to see. I think it's also complementary to the romantic, almost ethereal looks we've been seeing on the carpet," celebrity hairstylist Malcolm Marquez, who worked with members of Katseye for the Grammys, says of the long-hair trend. John Novotny, the celebrity stylist responsible for Larsson's Grammys tresses, agrees and adds that we'll see plenty of extra-long manes that can "whip around" for the rest of 2026. After all, "it's the year of the horse," they declare.

While long, long hair never truly falls out of favor ("hair that moves will never go out of style," Novotny quips), Marquez does predict an uptick in mermaid hair during spring and summer. (Another indication? Lola Tung's waterfall lengths on the cover of our Spring Issue.) It makes sense: That effortless, "just left the beach" look practically screams sun goddess, and as far as red carpet looks go, this one is relatively low-lift. All you'll need is a hair waver or crimping iron and loads of texturizing spray to achieve those tousled bends, plus some clip-in hair extensions if you have naturally shorter strands or just really want to commit to the mermaid look. Of course, if you have a curlier hair texture already, you can simply lean into your natural pattern with a curl-defining cream, mousse, or gel before air-drying or diffusing. Marquez also recommends tying your hair in a few braids while it's damp to encourage a heatless wave. Just keep them loose to avoid any noticeable dents.

If you're game for a little heat styling, "rough-dry the hair in the direction it's naturally falling [with] a bit of thickening spray at the root or a root-lifting mousse to add volume. We used OGX at the Grammys," Novotny explains. Once the hair is dry, you can add those exaggerated waves with your crimper. "If needed, I go back over the sections with the same tool or a smaller curling iron/wand but in the opposite direction to break up the wave pattern," Novotny suggests. "It'll hide any iron marks and look like a wave created by the wind and salty air!" Finish with a generous spritz of oil mist for a liquid-like shine, and set any shorter, face-framing layers with hair spray.

Low and Loose Knots

"There's a real shift happening," declares celebrity hairstylist Evanie Frausto. "After years of ultra-snatched, sculpted hair, people are craving something that feels romantic and human again." Enter the low, tousled knot—arguably the most beloved hair trend across red carpet events. Be it an undone twist like Sabrina Carpenter, Jenna Ortega, and Miley Cyrus or a loose ponytail like Brittany Snow and Sarah Pidgeon, the style is soft, romantic, and intentionally piecey, and it's quickly becoming the go-to elevated updo over, dare I say, polished slick-backs.

"We're moving away from perfection. The slick-back had its moment because it felt strong and controlled, but now, there's a desire for softness and personality," Frausto agrees. The undone nature of a low, loose knot juxtaposes the strong, dramatic silhouette of a gown, which is exactly what makes it work. According to Frausto, who coiffed Carpenter's unrestricted updo at the Grammys, that balance makes the overall look feel at once effortless and modern. "Sometimes, restraint is more powerful than volume," he adds. Even if you aren't clad in couture, a low-slung twist can provide a soft contrast to a tailored coat or elegant slip dress. It's very Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, so it should be no surprise that Pidgeon, who portrays the style icon in FX's Love Story, opted into the trend.

Just like the mermaid-level tresses mentioned above, a low knot is incredibly versatile, suiting every hair length, density, and curl pattern. Frausto says you can even customize the looseness to flatter your specific bone structure. "It's elevated but attainable, which makes it wearable beyond the red carpet," he shares. To achieve the effortless style, you'll want to amp up your hair's texture (feel free to add extra bends with a one-inch iron, Frausto says) and spritz on a light texturizing mist to add grip without losing softness before gathering your hair at the nape of the neck. "Slightly off-center feels modern," Frausto advises. If you're opting for a disheveled knot, twist the strands loosely and pin the shape organically. "Don't overthink it. Let pieces fall," Frausto adds. For a straightforward pony, secure the strands with a simple elastic, and let the face-framing pieces come free as they please. With both styles, you can gently pull at the crown to create an extra-soft halo. According to Frausto, "this step makes it feel expensive."

To ensure the style appears effortless as opposed to unkempt, make sure you adhere to a "less is more" styling philosophy. "The difference between messy and intentional is restraint. Stop styling before it feels 'perfect.' The beauty of this look is that it feels lived-in," Frausto shares. Of course, your outfit can also do a lot of the heavy lifting. Paired with sleek, sophisticated workwear or black-tie gown, a low, tousled 'do feels more like a choice.

Soft Purple Shadow

Forget about a striking slash of eyeliner (unless you're Teyana Taylor, who served beat after beat of bold, stunning wings). A majority of makeup looks during award season leaned into all things ethereal, namely a soft haze of lavender on the lids. We saw plenty of purple on the carpet—from Leighton Meester's lilac Carolina Herrera dress at the Critics Choice Awards to Laufey's Miu Miu Grammys ensemble to Emma Stone's internet-dividing Louis Vuitton cardigan at the Actor Awards—but even when stars didn't fully commit to violet, multiple A-listers cosigned the color trend with a pastel eye look.

Consider Quinta Brunson, who paired her lush '70s waves with a wash of purple shadow at the Critics Choice Awards, or Hamlin, who wore a fairy-dusted eye to complement her glistening custom Swarovski dress. (Lavender is one of Hamlin's favorite colors, celebrity makeup artist Sam Visser shared in a post-Globes release, so it set the direction for her luminous, liquid-like glam.) Of course, we must not forget the mermaid-esque Laufey, who matched her aforementioned Miu Miu gown with layers of shimmery lilac shadow courtesy of iconic makeup artist Nina Park.

The key to making purple eye shadow look ethereal? Keep the color focused on the center of your lid, then softly blend toward the inner and outer corners for a diffused, watercolor effect. Go slow with your layers. Adding another light wash of pigment is far easier than chipping away at an opaque coat. To amp up the dreaminess even further, apply a dusting of chrome highlighter on top of the purple base. Bonus points if your luminizer boasts hints of lavender too.

Nail Jewelry

Classic, neutral nails are a red carpet mainstay (lest your tips compete with your jaw-dropping dress, right?), but this award season, I saw an uptick in what I'm officially calling "neutral nails 2.0." This is luxe nude polish with bejeweled accents—nail jewelry, if you will. Poster children include Olivia Dean, who donned a custom shade of pink speckled with rhinestones; Katseye's Megan Skiendiel, who sported inky polish with a halo of crystals along her cuticles; Blackpink's Rosé, who opted for a 14-karat gold nail piercing dangling from her ring finger; and Laufey, who wore a barely-there lacquer with equally delicate gemstone embellishments. Even Larsson's yellow "junk nails," which aren't minimalist by any means, do technically fall under the nail-jewelry category thanks to those encrusted beads. Jewelry, after all, can be dainty, sculptural, kitschy, or something in between, depending on your accessories preferences. Still, each celeb look requires zero painted nail art—just a simple coat of polish with those 3D elements.

According to Yoko Sakakura, the celebrity nail artist responsible for Laufey's "hint of crystal" tips, a little nail jewelry is perfect for those looking for an extra punch of glamour without overpowering the entire look. "I think [nail] jewelry can be popular this year to upscale the clean, minimalistic trend," she tells me. "Because it was the Grammys, [Laufey] wanted a little more than chic nude-pink nails, so I suggested an idea of adding tiny clear crystals, which matched her Miu Miu dress, and she loved it." Since the red carpet, Sakakura herself has even gravitated toward small crystals and pearls for her own nail looks, adding just a little sparkle to catch the eye.

Voluminous Side Parts

For those hoping to dial up the glam factor, might I suggest a full, fluffy side part? It immediately gives off Old Hollywood elegance, but this year, I've seen multiple iterations that transcend decades, from Ayo Edebiri's 1930s bob complete with a subtle kiss curl to Parker Posey's fluffy '60s crop to Olivia Dean's sky-high '80s tresses, which are somewhat of a red carpet signature for the Grammy winner. "What makes the looks so wearable is its balance of simplicity and elegance. It complements the most minimalist and extravagant looks in a really chic way and goes from day to night really seamlessly," shares celebrity hairstylist Rachel Polycarpe, who perfected Dean's Grammys 'do. "It also works for any hair type. Whether your hair is straight, wavy, curly, or coily, adjusting the part and adding root lift enhances what's already there."

Andrew Fitzsimons—tress master behind Hailee Steinfeld's retro waves at the Golden Globes—agrees, praising the style's versatility across face shapes and curl patterns. "We are seeing this go-to, classic hairstyle in a range of different versions that embrace different hair textures as opposed to conforming to one hair type," he says. In short, this retro silhouette is adaptable, universally flattering, and looking a lot more interesting in 2026.

If you thought getting the look merely takes a dramatic hair flip, think again. "The magic of the voluminous side part isn't just volume—it's balance," Polycarpe shares. "Lift at the root, softness through the ends, and movement throughout." Start with a clean and light base with a root-lifting mousse at the crown or anti-humidity styling balm depending on your hair type ("Voluminous styles are built before the blow-dry," Polycarpe advises), then section your hair into that deep side part using the arch of your brow as a guide. When blow-drying, direct the hair up and back rather than flat to the scalp, and for maximum height, Polycarpe suggests overdirecting the top section slightly away from the part. If you're going for extra waves, follow up with a curling iron, pinning each section immediately and spraying with strong-hold hair spray.

Once the hair has cooled, comb out the curls with a boar-bristle brush to achieve extra-fluffy volume. A final pro tip: Add a bit of dry shampoo at the root just underneath the top layer of hair (never on the surface, Polycarpe warns) to create a lived-in, softly teased effect. Spray a bit of shine spray on the mid-lengths and ends and you're golden.

Icy Inner Corners

It's no secret that retro-futuristic, Y2K makeup is back with some chic 2026 upgrades, but for those who can't commit to a full-on frosty lid, do like the celeb set and add just a pop to the inner corners. Whether you opt for a softer statement à la Infiniti, Carpenter, Tyla, or Katseye's Sophia Laforteza or add a metallic accent like FKA Twigs and Chappell Roan, the tiny reflective element gives your entire look an ethereal quality that feels nostalgic yet refined.

"Overall, we're seeing makeup lean more natural, effortless, and diffused. Everything feels softer and more blended right now," shares celebrity makeup artist Jimmy Stam—the mastermind behind Tyla's bronzy Grammys glam, a marriage of warm tones punctuated by a pearly highlight at the inner corners. "Inner-corner highlights will always be a staple, but we're definitely seeing more icy, frosted textures in varying intensities." He adds that a statement highlight is a great technique to define the eye without relying on a heavy contour. "Against an otherwise natural, skin-like makeup look, a frosty finish adds a reflective element that catches the light beautifully on camera and gives the look a current edge," he explains. The sentiment definitely rings true when it comes to FKA Twigs, who paired a very minimal base with twinkling eyeliner on her inner waterline. It's a "blink and you'll miss it" accent that surprisingly offers a ton of spunk.

According to Stam, a frosty inner-corner highlight is actually very easy to achieve. Keep the lid rather bare by applying a matte or satin shade close to your skin tone ("even your bronzer works," Stam says), blending softly in the crease and outer corner for some subtle structure. Next, apply your highlight. "I personally like creating a small 'V' shape extending slightly onto the upper and lower inner lash line. It elongates the eye and gives a subtle cat-eye effect," he explains. "For a softer look, just tap the highlight directly into the tear duct area for a wash of light."

Bixies

Craving a shorter chop but don't want to commit to a full-on pixie? Allow the trophy holders to convince you of a bixie, the hybrid style quickling dominating the red carpet scene. What in the world is a bixie, you ask? Imagine the short, choppy layers quintessential of a textured pixie paired with longer pieces that kiss the nape of the neck, like a micro bob. Lo and behold, you've got yourself a bixie.

Taylor and Jessie Buckley are arguably its patron saints, rolling up to red carpet events with breathtaking versions that feature curved bangs, flicked ends, and airy, wispy pieces. Gracie Abrams and Brunson also recently hopped on the bandwagon—Abrams with a chic, side-parted crop at the BAFTAs and Brunson with a sleek, sculptural iteration accented by a kiss curl at the Actor Awards—proving that this short haircut is here to stay all spring. In fact, celebrity hairstylist Nikki Nelms, who worked with Taylor throughout award season, expects a surge of bixies through the summer, as shorter cuts practically explode in popularity during the warmer months. "It's a great style to have if you want to confidently grow out your pixie and not feel insecure about having that awkward grow-out stage," she adds. "Since it's already a cool style, the grow-out will appear to be intentional."

To expertly prep such a chop, you'll definitely want some sort of styling paste or gel in your arsenal. Celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett used a mattifying texture paste for Buckley's elegant Golden Globes bixie, while Nelms considers a touchable gel "the real winner" for Taylor's shiny and slick Grammys flip. "For a short style, it's all about shine and hold," she tells me, adding that she used a cocktail of gel and hair spray to smooth and mold the strands one layer at a time. A flat iron may also be helpful for flicking ends or curving bangs to perfection, or better yet, seek out a mini version that's perfect for shorter lengths and on-the-go touch-ups.

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the style icon she was, is often lauded for transforming bridal fashion as we know it. True to her pared-back, unfussy MO, the forever muse married John F. Kennedy Jr. in September 1996 wearing a silk slip dress designed by her dear friend Narciso Rodriguez—a stark departure from the extravagant silhouettes (read: puff sleeves) and heavy embellishments popular during that era—but that's not the only style choice that effectively revolutionized the '90s bride. Her hair, tied in a low, effortless twist, also held major sway.

"It really worked against the trends in bridal hair at that time," Barry Lee Moe, Sarah Pidgeon's hairstylist for FX's Love Story, says of Bessette-Kennedy's wedding-day bun. "When you look back at '90s wedding photos, every bride had overly done, big, bridal hair—lots of tendrils, curls, updos. It's a different silhouette. She really pushed against that without even knowing it, and it became iconic."

For Moe, it was important to style Pidgeon with that same level of "lived-in luxury" in the just-released wedding episode. The key? A bit of DIY, apparently.

"Ultimately, with any of those effortless, pulled-back looks, I always lean to Sarah to guide it because there's nothing that looks more realistic than when a girl pulls her own hair back," he tells me. "So I would always have Sarah do something herself just to see what it looked like, and then I would finish it." It's a smart tactic, since that's apparently exactly what the real Bessette-Kennedy did on her own wedding day. "When we researched, everyone who was there said that that's kind of what happened. She just threw her own hair up," Moe adds.

Those finishing touches on set still remained pretty minimal—just a bit of Unite's Blonda Oil to add healthy shine without making the style appear too "done." That was always the North Star with Pidgeon's looks, Moe tells me. "It had to look a little messy," he adds. "It had to look like there was humidity evident in the air, because it was a summertime wedding."

That said, the real ticket to re-creating Bessette-Kennedy's bun isn't a secret product or hot tool (too contrived). In true CBK fashion, it's about leaning into your own intuition without worrying too much about how you'll be perceived (which, I'll admit, is a lot more difficult than it sounds, especially on your wedding day). "If your instincts are telling you, 'I just want an effortless, pulled-back look,' then start to do it yourself, take pictures, and find someone who can help guide you there," Moe suggests. A stylist can help refine the look so it holds up throughout the day (or, in Pidgeon's case, multiple days of filming), but you are ultimately the expert in your own hair. Honoring that as best you can is how you wind up on bridal mood boards 30 years after exchanging "I dos."

Cara Delevingne's life has been closely chronicled since 2012 when the model, actress, and singer shot to fame after walking in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Since her breakout banner year, the star has snagged coveted roles in films such as Paper Towns and Suicide Squad, released music, and established herself as a staunch advocate for gender equality and the LGBTQIA+ community.

However, the star consciously began to peel back from the spotlight around 10 years ago to reprioritize and now makes herself visible only when she wants to. For the fabulous multi-hyphenate, this means popping by the Los Angeles premiere of Wuthering Heights to support her friend and former co-star Margot Robbie and, most recently, sitting down with Who What Wear to discuss her ambassadorship with L'Oréal and the brand's Women of Worth community.

"It's a very 'pinch me' moment," Delevingne tells us about her bucket-list role. The star knows the power of fragrance more than anyone, and the first thing that connects her to the brand is a particularly nostalgic scent. "My grandmother always used Elnett [hair spray], and it's one of the scents that will always remind me of her," she confides. "Being able to say 'Oh, I'm an ambassador' is really crazy." To no one's surprise, this team-up has also improved her beauty game—something she admits to not being so fluent in before.

The star describes her self-care routine as something that changes on a day-by-day basis, but when it comes to wellness, she knows that simplicity is key. "Sometimes, I'm just terrible at washing my face twice a day," she says with a laugh. "But usually, I will always use Revitalift plumping serum because it just wakes up my skin." The rest of her minimal wellness routine includes a daily SPF and a foam roller. No, it's not for the face. It's for her back and shoulders. "I take it everywhere I go," she exclaims. "Maybe that's just me in my 30s, but it's so necessary for me."

Though Delevingne emphasizes the importance of ease when it comes to her skincare routine, she's been taking more risks with her makeup and hair these days, something she never would have thought she'd thoroughly enjoy. "I've been so spoiled that I've just had my makeup done, [so] I was never good at makeup until I started playing with it," she explains. With the resurgence of 2010s makeup—the era of her early social media stardom—Delevingne reveals that the one dated trend she wished she'd mastered then was a sharp wing.

"A little flick, because I love doing that now. … It's my favorite thing," she says. "There's something so satisfying about getting the perfect one." Her trick for perfecting that sharp black swipe? "It's about the little Q-tip you use to correct," she laughs. "Screw the actual cat eye. It's all about correcting."

As for other beauty challenges, Delevingne recently debuted a stunning set of bangs chopped by celebrity-loved hairstylist Mara Roszak, founder of WWW-beloved haircare brand Rōz. Don't act like we didn't tell you this is the biggest beauty movement of 2026. "They're a different beast," she tells us with a grin. "I haven't had bangs since I was a child, and I definitely didn't do anything with my hair when I was younger, and I'm still kind of refusing to. I just look like I have a big mop on my head—in a good way." However, the en-vogue star likens her laissez-faire hair to effortlessly cool, '70s-inspired waves.

"It's giving a very 'Stevie Nicks in the '70s' vibe right now," she states. "The '70s are such an incredible era, especially for that kind of natural beauty. I love letting your natural features shine through. … I always draw back to [that]."

Though Delevingne's beauty literacy has improved throughout the years, it's what she's discovered on the inside through this ambassadorship experience that's given her a new sense of confidence. The star can now look back on many hard years of rigorous work with appreciation thanks to the people she surrounds herself with today.

"One of the things I always found very important—and something I didn't realize until I was older—is the people you align yourself with [and] really being able to share the values that they have," she explains. She cites L'Oréal's Le Défilé, an annual event during Paris Fashion Week, as a turning point. "Doing Le Défilé with so many women that I've looked up to my entire life and having really incredible conversations about [everything from what] scares us to things that lift us up, it really is that picture-perfect feeling of 'Oh, this can be what it's like to work with people you're aligned with,'" she continues. Though the multi-hyphenate is thankful for the community of strong people she's found herself in, she says she owes a lot more credit to the person in the mirror. Present-day Delevingne wishes she could go back and tell her 20-year-old self—the age when her life became supercharged by stardom—that she was never alone. "I think I was trying so [hard] to run away from myself because I felt so much imposter syndrome, like I just didn't deserve any of it," she confides.

Her advice? To hit pause, take stock, and enjoy every moment. "That all happened so fast," she recalls. "When you're going through any type of big change or something really drastic, it all suddenly happens." When it rains, it pours. "Be able to slow down and enjoy every moment," she adds.

That said, we may need to remind you that you do, in fact, know what tonight’s award show is—it’s just henceforth going by a different name. The Actor Awards have been renamed after 32 years of being known as the SAG Awards, a decision reached by the SAG-AFTRA Awards Committee and main showrunner to make things more obvious—and though the title has undergone a rebrand, the on-stage glamour remains.

The Actor Awards are the final key benchmark before the Oscars on March 15, meaning that tonight will set the scene for what kinds of results we’ll expect on Hollywood’s most prestigious stage come mid-month. Allow me to start by saying that you should always feel free to choose the haircut that makes you feel your best—personal preference always trumps styling "rules" or popular trends. That said, if you do find yourself in a bit of a slump, a few factors can help nudge you toward your best crop. First up: the level of maintenance. Not jazzed about heading to the salon every four to six weeks for a trim? You probably shouldn't commit to bangs or a bob, as both require pretty regular upkeep. Hair type also plays a significant role. For instance, those with curls might not want to opt for blunt, razor-sharp cuts, as these can appear a bit boxy; rather, stylists recommend layered chops that lean into your natural strand pattern.

Finally, it's important to consider your face shape, as strands can have a huge impact in facial balancing. Oval face shapes tend to have balanced forehead-to-jaw ratios already ("Nothing overly angular or dominant," celebrity hairstylist Nick Stenson notes, which means they can pull off most hairstyles with ease), but a few haircutting tweaks can accentuate the features even further. Long Layers

"For longer lengths, I usually recommend adding layers instead of keeping everything one length. A heavy, one length cut can sometimes drag the face down visually," shares professional hairstylist Carla Zuniga, senior stylist at Benjamin Salon. "Layers that start around the cheekbone and move downward help open the face up and highlight your features." Stenson agrees, adding that soft, face-framing layers can enhance movement while maintaining the natural balance of an oval face shape. "It’s a very versatile length that works well whether someone prefers sleek styling or soft waves," he shares.

When styling, Zuniga recommends directing the hair away from the face (like you might a set of curtain bangs), so those layers can better highlight your bone structure. "[It] keeps everything feeling lifted and fresh," she adds.

Textured Pixie

On the short-hair side of the spectrum, both Zuniga and Stenson are quick to call out textured crops. "They highlight the cheekbones and create natural symmetry without overwhelming the face," Stenson says, citing Rihanna as the perfect muse. "She often experiments with everything from pixies to long waves, and her balanced proportions carry each look beautifully. Her styles work well because oval faces naturally support both strong structure and soft movement."

You could tweak your pixie with some side-swept pieces or even commit to a grown-out version—just make sure you avoid too much height on top. "You don’t want to accidentally elongate the face," Stenson warns.

Curtain Bangs

Thinking of getting bangs this year? Great news: "Oval faces are the most bang-friendly face shapes," Stenson declares, adding that fringe is a great choice for those who want a change without losing length. The type you choose will ultimately depend on your hair texture and commitment level, but when it comes to oval-shaped faces, "curtain bangs are one of my favorites because they frame the face and add softness," Stenson shares. That quintessential "triangle" part is super flattering for oval faces, as it highlights their natural symmetry.

Blunt Bangs

"Even blunt bangs can look amazing thanks to that natural symmetry," Stenson adds. Oval face shapes are slightly longer than they are wide, so a straight-across style (think Dakota Johnson's, my number one bang inspo) can balance the features by shortening the forehead a tad. "The only thing to watch is weight," Zuniga caveats. "If the bangs are too heavy or dense, they can visually shorten the face. Adding softness and texture keeps everything balanced."

French Bob

According to Zuniga, bobs of all kinds—including French bobs, chin-skimming blunt bobs, and softly layered bobs—are great options for oval-shaped faces, as they effortlessly frame the cheekbones and jawline. The former deserves a bit more attention, however, as it typically includes a set of wispy fringe (which, as discussed, is practically made for oval faces).

Modern Mullet

"Mid-length cuts are just as versatile," Zuniga adds. "Shags (with or without fringe or curtain bangs), lobs with or without bangs, and even a modern mullet can all work really well." What's a modern mullet, you ask? It's still "business in the front, party in the back," but with a slightly smoother finish, like you see on Greta Lee above. “The modern mullet remains relevant but has softened to increase its commercial appeal, moving from niche trend to broader adoption,” editorial hairstylist Matthew Curtis says of the 2026 hair trend.

Center Parts

According to Stenson, a center part looks right at home on an oval-shaped face. See, the name of the game is emphasizing symmetry, and a simple center part will always create a nice balance. We especially love it paired with the micro goddess braids on Zoë Kravitz here, her style loose and flowing down her back.

Face-Framing Waves

Soft waves also highlight the natural balance of oval-shaped features, says Stenson, especially if you add a few extra bends to the face-framing pieces. "Adding a bit of width through texture at the sides can be especially flattering if the face runs slightly longer," he adds.

If your feeds are anything like mine right now, French pins are everywhere. There's no denying that French hair accessories are having a huge moment right now and have asserted themselves as a key player in 2026 hair trends. And ever since spotting the masterfully placed French pins and French combs at The Row's Spring/Summer 2026 show (it's probably my favourite beauty trend of the season), I've not been able to stop thinking about them. Claw clips may have reigned during the first half of the decade, but I'm willing to bet that 2026 belongs to the French pin.

Whilst I might not have the magically coiffing hands of legendary hairstylist Guido Palau, who was behind the intricate hairstyles backstage, it has encouraged me to get out of my hair rut of wearing my hair down every day, and so I've been researching exactly how to use a French pin.

If you've never used a French pin before, it can be both a bit intimidating and finicky (my first few French twists? They fell out in seconds). I've scrolled through countless video tutorials, which all make it look so easy to do. But, as I've since learned, there are so many hidden tricks to ensure you're using your French pin correctly. So, I enlisted the help of hair stylist Limoz Logli to share his expert tips on how to use a French pin and actually get your French twist to hold in place all day.

How to Use A French Pin

First things first, you'll need to choose the right French pin for your hair. Smaller French pins work on bob-length shoulder-length hair; however, those with longer or thicker lengths will get a more secure hold from a larger French pin. I personally love Logli's Yael French Pin (£19), which is larger than most and gives me the most secure fit on my long and thick hair. It's also a little flexible, helping to easily secure it into twists. For shorter hair lengths and finer hair types, & Other Stories Sculptural Hair Pins (£19) are a good size and have a chic chrome finish that peeks out of your French twist, effortlessly updating your everyday updo.

Prepping your hair will also ensure your French twist holds in place, especially if you have silky lengths that are more slippery to work with. "Hair should be clean but not greasy or slippery. Day-old hair is ideal, or freshly washed hair with a bit of added texture. You want grip; overly clean, soft hair won’t hold as well," says Logli. "A light texture spray or dry shampoo through the roots helps enormously. Start by adding light texture through the roots and mid-lengths; this gives the hair grip and movement," he says. "Avoid pomades, as they’re too slippery and can make the twist collapse," he adds. "Curly or textured hair often holds naturally and usually needs less product, just careful shaping and anchoring."

As for using the French pin itself, there are endless ways to use it. Ahead, I'm sharing two ways to create a French twist using a French pin.

Method 1

This technique involves wrapping your hair around your fingers to create a twist before inserting the French pin to secure it. I find this method gives more of an effortless and undone vibe, especially if you let the ends peek out of your twist. For something more polished and refined, scroll on to method two further below, where you use the pin in place of your fingers (I also find this to provide a more secure fit, IMO).

Step 1

After prepping your hair with any styling products, gather your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck and hold onto it with your non-dominant hand. "Just above the nape is the most flattering and secure place," says Logli. "Keeping it slightly off-centre makes it feel more modern and relaxed."

Step 2

Wrap your ponytail underneath your index and middle fingers of your dominant hand. This allows you to easily twist the hair upwards. My biggest tip? Remove your rings for this part, as they can sometimes catch on the twist.

Step 3

"Gather the hair at the nape and twist it upward, following the shape of the head," says Logli. Twist your hair in a circular motion until your hair is fully twirled into the twist, and use your other hand to help guide the hair up and hold it at the top of the twist. If you have long hair or layers, don't worry if they won't all fit in the twist at this stage.

Step 4

For any ends that are peeking out of the twist, you can simply tuck them inside the twist using your other hand as you hold the twist in place.

Step 5

I'd argue that the technique you use to secure the French pin into your hair is the most crucial step. Above, I'm showing how to move the French pin into the hair for the most secure fit. "Insert the pin with the curve facing outward, not toward the head," says Logli. "Then, slide it into the twist, then rotate it inward so the curve cups the shape of the head," he says.

Step 6

"Hold the twist in place, then insert the French pin from the side with more volume. Catch a section of the twist, rotate the pin inward, and slide it down so it anchors into the hair at the base of the head," he adds.

It can take a few tries to get the right tension, so if it feels too loose or too tight, you can start again. "If it feels loose, it isn’t anchored into the hair near the scalp," says Logli. "If it feels uncomfortable, the pin is pressing against the head instead of sitting within the twist."

Step 7

If you have any ends popping out that bother you, you can slide in some hair grips for a neater look. "With shorter layers, secure the twist first, then pin loose pieces afterwards," says Logli. "For very long hair, fold excess length back into the twist rather than building it upward so the shape stays elegant." However, if you're going for a more effortless look, you can keep them peeking out for a casual French twist.

Step 8

And there you have your French twist. "The twist should feel firm and controlled, but never strained," says Logli. "If it’s too loose, the pin won’t have enough structure to anchor into; if it’s too tight, the hair loses flexibility, and the pin can slip," he says. "Aim for a smooth, secure twist that stays close to the head; the pin should lock it in place, not fight against it," he says.

As a finishing step, you can use a light touch of hairspray to set it into place. and pull a few face-framing tendrils free if you prefer. "Finish with a light mist of hairspray for hold and polish; the result should look glossy and intentional, never stiff," says Logli.

Method 2

If the first method doesn't feel secure enough, try this one instead. Instead of wrapping your hair around your fingers to create the twist, you'll instead wrap it around the French pin itself. I find this method results in a much more secure French twist, as well as looking a little more polished and sleeker overall.

Step 1

Begin by gathering your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck using your non-dominant hand.

Step 2

Wrap the base of the ponytail around the top of the French pin in your other hand, twisting upwards to form a coiled twist at the back of your head. Again, don't worry too much if any ends are peeking out at this stage—they can be tucked away at the end if you wish.

Step 3

Just like the technique used in the first method, we're using a similar process to insert the pin as shown above. You want to angle the pin so that it catches the back of the head, before angling it downwards to secure it to the back of the head as you slide it down towards the nape of the neck.

Step 4

As you come to the end of your twist, angle the end of the pin towards the scalp, angling the pin downwards so the curve of the pin hugs the back of your head as it slides into the twist. You might have to gently wiggle the French pin into place at the top of your twist to find the right angle to comfortably insert the pin. It should feel secure. If it feels too tight or too loose, start again until you find a more comfortable fit.

Step 5

You can then tuck in any ends that didn't fit into the twist at the side of the twist using your fingers, or add a couple of hair grips to secure them more firmly if needed.

Step 6

And there you have your finished French twist. You can then pull a few strands free for some face-framing tendrils if you like, and fix with some hairspray for extra hold.
