Awards season is in full swing, and last night the stars took to the red carpet to celebrate the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The Grammys beauty looks were nothing short of spectacular, but, of course, I was keeping an eye on celebrity nail trends to see which nail polish shades are set to dominate this spring. There was one manicure in particular that I couldn't stop thinking about, from none other than the queen of nail trends, Hailey Bieber.

The Rhode founder stepped out with her husband, Justin Bieber, wearing a sleek black dress from Alaïa, alongside her signature slicked-back hairstyle. Her makeup was minimal; however, she sported a dark brown lip for the occasion, perfectly complementing her OPI manicure.

Celebrity nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, took to her Instagram account to share how she created Bieber's custom OPI nail colour, and I already know which shade is about to become a total sell-out.

We all know that OPI's Bubble Bath has been a fan favourite for years. I legitimately can't take my eyes off Olivia Dean. Ever since the Best New Artist winner (!) stepped onto the Grammys red carpet in that custom Chanel dress, she radiated pure It-girl energy. Her glam team certainly understood the assignment, making sure the star's hair and makeup appear romantic yet powerful, '70s-inspired yet fresh, and polished yet never over-styled. It's the exact balance I aim for when it comes to my own beauty looks (even though I don't have any red carpet events in my future), and now I thankfully have plenty of photos to reference—plus an exact product lineup to follow.

"The inspiration for Olivia is never very far away—it's always about letting her feel like herself. She naturally has this Diana Ross–esque energy: disco, freedom, glamour, and beauty," Dean's makeup artist Celia Burton says in an editor-distributed release. I'm itching to re-create everything myself, from her lush, side-parted curls to her deep, berry-stained lips, so below, I'm sharing all the necessary staples and artist-backed tips.

That's two-time Grammy winner Laufey, to you! Tonight, the singer-songwriter and coquette beauty icon won the award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for A Matter of Time, her third album, which she released back in August 2025. As she's known for soft, ethereal glam (a true lover girl), Laufey accepted her win donning a dreamy, lilac Miu Miu gown, glimmering diamond drop earrings courtesy of Jared Atelier, a purple eye look with a soft, rosy flush, plus cascading mermaid waves I'm itching to re-create as early as Monday morning.

Luckily, I was able to get all the details from Jenny Cho, the celebrity stylist behind Laufey's look. "We talked about keeping the hair natural, effortless, and true to her," Cho tells Who What Wear about working with the star. "Laufey has such a strong sense of her own style, so the process is always very collaborative. We both wanted something that felt timeless and feminine but still modern and cool."

Long, textured waves (a look Cho dubs "the modern mermaid") were a no-brainer, as the style appears fluid and romantic yet still polished and elevated for the red carpet. Ahead, discover the full breakdown from Cho herself—including every product used and exclusive getting-ready photos.

"The Miu Miu dress had such a dreamy, ethereal quality, so I wanted the hair to feel like it was moving with her, not competing with the look," Cho shares. To achieve that softly tousled effect, she starts by applying Emi Jay's Heavenly Hair Milk and Halo Oil on Laufey's damp lengths. "I blow-dried the hair with the Emi Jay Flat Brush, a mixed bristle brush, for tension, then created loose waves with a larger curling iron," she adds. (FYI: That milky serum-oil combo will give you a smoother, faster drying time, she says.)

"The key detail is the texture. The waves aren't perfectly uniform—they're slightly undone and separated, which gives the hair that airy, floating quality. It's subtle, but it's what makes the look feel modern instead of overly styled," Cho explains. Just make sure you let the hair completely cool before creating that separation; otherwise, the bends may wind up falling flat. Once Laufey's strands were fully styled, Cho separated the waves herself using a secret, unreleased finishing product (I'll report back very soon!) and another drop of the Halo Oil for extra shine. And there you have it: modern mermaid waves fit for a Grammy winner.

This is an effortless yet elegant style that Cho expects to continue dominating the hair trend cycle. "It works for both everyday and special occasions," she adds. "Less stiffness, more movement, more shine. It's about hair that feels lived-in but still intentional." Hair with natural-looking body and healthy, liquid-like shine is always on my mood board, so you can expect me—plus the red-carpet regulars—to commit to this style all of 2026.

When rapper and singer-songwriter Doechii took the stage at the 2025 Grammy Awards to accept her win for Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, not only was the music industry crowning the ingénue a rising star, but we were also witnessing a style icon being born. The artist was a vision in a custom Thom Browne outfit that consisted of a short-sleeve bolero jacket, a shirt and tie, and dramatic sculptural trousers. The look was one of those rare ones in the celebrity world that was on par with the history-making moment that was unfolding. Not only did Doechii's acceptance speech strike a chord ("I know that there is some Black girl out there … watching me right now, and I want to tell you, you can do it. Anything is possible … and I am a testimony"), but the moment also helped to establish a visual language for the artist that has quickly garnered the adoration of the entire internet. The buzz couldn't have been more well-deserved, and it appears it was only the beginning for Doechii's style impact.

We may still be in the first half of the year, but 2025 fashion will unquestionably be defined by the influence of Doechii. Together with stylist Sam Woolf, the pair's collaboration is proving to be highly successful with showstopping look after look.

This year has seen the Grammy-winning artist's rapid ascent into the spotlight, and right now, she's at the top of her fashion game. Ahead, discover Doechii's best style moments that are cementing her as 2025's most exciting style icon.

Before her wardrobe changes throughout the course of the award show, she arrived on the Grammys red carpet in an exaggerated-hip corset dress layered over a button-down shirt and menswear tie. The dramatic silhouette of the dress is a theme the artist has since gravitated toward in more looks.

"Sculpted" and "statuesque" are the only ways I can describe the viral Schiaparelli look she wore—a concoction of draped white fabric and corseted indigo denim that the artist finished off with a pair of opulent large-scale earrings.

Effortlessly oscillating between masculine and feminine style codes, Doechii's look for the Tom Ford show was a celebration of sultry '90s glamour in a plunging thong bodysuit, fluffy fur coat, and gold-buckle belt.

One thing about Doechii is that she's a Miu Miu girl at her core. The nerdy eyeglasses, the retro striped tees, the satin briefs layered over tights—the artist adores a no-pants look, which she pairs with everything from socks and sneakers to knee-high stockings and Mary Jane heels.

At ACNE Studios, the artist took the emerging peep-toe-shoe trend for a spin with a deconstructed plaid dress and her now-signature rimless opticals.

Menswear silhouettes like shirting, tailoring, and ties are also becoming regular style codes for her.

I’ve gotten it down to a routine. The evening of every award show, I struggle to figure out what platform is streaming the red carpet, sign up for whatever 30-day trial is required, and watch with wide eyes as hordes of glittering celebrities slink down the red carpet, expertly posing to show off their recent runway acquirements or archival fashion pulls. From the gowns to the glam, there are a million details to drink up—though, the one that I always find myself fixated on (and plotting how to re-create myself) is the makeup.

We’ve all seen the heavy-blush trend blossom on and off the red carpet, middle parts sweep the scene, and so many more beauty trends start on the red carpet in award seasons past. Well, now that this one has officially come to a close with the 97th Academy Awards (Oscars, for the commoner), I took it upon myself to take a holistic look at the beauty Venn diagram of this year’s many red carpets, from film to music, to see which looks had the most crossover—and some of the most in-demand makeup artists from this season corroborated.

“I’ve noticed people leaning to a transparent approach to red carpet makeup—not so many heavy pigments and bold colors right now,” says celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. Responsible for Emma Stone’s gloriously glowing look at the Oscars and Sophie Thatcher’s retro-inspired glam, Goodwin looks to the stars as the ultimate trendsetters versus letting herself be influenced by outside ideals—though, these are the looks that set the course for the seasons to come.

“I always tailor each makeup to the personality and unique style of whoever I’m working with to bring out the version of them that feels the most authentically them," she adds. "Whenever I can do that, I feel proud.” Below, the three makeup trends that booked and busy MUAs were repeatedly asked for this glitzy award season.

Glowy Skin

From “glass skin” to slugging, it’s no secret that celebrities will try anything to achieve glowing skin—especially on the carpet. According to the pros, it all starts with skincare and facial sculpting.

“Hydrated skin is the key to any successful makeup in my opinion, but too much product and foundation slides right off,” explains Goodwin. “It’s about striking the right balance.” The artist says skincare prep is where most of her efforts go because “glowing skin is always in,” no matter the look.

To perfect her clients’ canvases, Goodwin has a no-fail routine. “I start by spraying IS Clinical Copper Firming Mist and IS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum Advance+, then trace a NuFace along the jawline and under-eye area,” she explains. Goodwin then gets to work on the eyes first, keeping eye masks (her favorites from Bioeffect) on until it’s time to move on to complexion.

Whether this means a sun-kissed bronze, a light-reflecting blush, or a dewy visage, celebs keep the glow going far beyond serums and masks. “My most requested makeup look has been a radiant, glowing complexion with fresh peachy-pink tones on the cheeks,” says Rokael Lizama, who has a client list boasting Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian. The trick is to use a luminous foundation to start things with a shine, and Lizama creates this angelic effect with Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick. “It creates a radiant, even, dewy complexion,” he says.

But the radiance doesn’t stop there—he often finished off each look by accentuating the high points of the face and décolleté with a blendable highlighter, such as this rosy Glow Maximizer from Dior.

“Always apply complexion products in very thin layers and build as needed to create the most flawless, long-lasting base,” advises Lizama. “Lightweight and often gel-based moisturizers help prolong the wear of my client’s makeup and give a poreless look to the complexion.”

Old Hollywood Rouge

We’ve been in blush zeitgeist for a few years now, and this award season confirmed that this trend is nowhere near slowing down. Sabrina Carpenter’s makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, led the charge with “Old Hollywood” lips and cheeks decorating the star’s many red carpet appearances, embracing a minimal eye with a rich lip. Several of Gonzalez’s clients this season wanted the “romantic” look of skin-forward glam with high-intensity blush. Though, she added that “full lips and fluffy lashes are still a thing.”

But while blush swept the scene for yet another award season, Gonzalez sees the color wheel tipping into deeper territory than the pastel pinks that may pop into your head. The makeup artist foresees “burgundies, deep browns, [and] deeper reds” painting the lips and cheeks of the fashion-forward in the months to come, no matter how unseasonal that might sound, because of these shades’ classic natures.

Chelsea agrees, especially as the weather becomes more mild. “With spring coming up, my clients have been loving a good blush moment. It brings youthfulness to the skin,” she explains. While the artist also agrees that bold lip colors will never leave the awards look book, stars seem to be taking a less polished approach to application. “Red lips will always be perfect for a red carpet, but I think a smudged overlined lip color has been pretty popular as well,” Chelsea adds. A bitten-lip moment, perhaps?

Cashmere Eyes

Silky, subtle—the elegant eyes we’ve seen on the red carpets this year feel like the older, fancier sisters of natural glam. Instead of leaning on dark eye shadows for statement eyes, Hollywood’s most in-demand artists have been approaching A-list eyes with a lighter touch—a smoky eye with shading as soft as cashmere.

“My clients love a sultry smoke on the outer corner and a bit of sparkle in the inner part of the lid,” muses Lizama, adding a “gorgeous pop” in photographs. With a dusting of taupe smoke along Demi Moore’s lids at the SAG Awards and a golden version completing Beyoncé’s ethereal glam at the Grammys, these silken kinds of smoky eyes were a constant for the makeup artist this season.

Chelsea created a similar champagne look for Olivia Munn's Vanity Fair Oscar Party glam, with a wash of golden shimmer sparkling atop her lids (courtesy of Armani Beauty). The main takeaways from this red carpet trend? A smoky eye doesn’t need to be dark to make a statement. Blend layers upon layers of lighter shades on top of one another to create a look that stands out without looking too harsh (and try some of the easy-to-blend palettes below for those layered cashmere eyes).

Miley Cyrus is known for her edgy, experimental approach to fashion and beauty. When I heard she'd be attending the 2025 Grammys after being nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance alongside Beyonce for their song "Most Wanted," I expected her look to be nothing short of spectacular. Spoiler alert: she delivered. The elements of her look were as follows: a sleek Saint Laurent dress, a sharp makeup look, and a hairstyle that was giving Hannah Montana in the best way. Yes, Hannah Montana, as in her iconic Disney Channel character and sitcom that ran from 2006 to 2011. On the show, Cyrus's character (named Miley Stewart) has long, brunette locks, but when she appeared as her alter-ego (Hannah Montana) she wore a long, blonde wig with straight-cut bangs. Cyrus's Grammys look kept the classic elements of the latter—albeit with some modern, edgy details.

Cyrus's "bronde" hair was cut into sharp layers, the first of which fell right at her jawline. She also had wispy bangs and chunky highlights and lowlights. While it lacked the golden-blonde color and layerless length of Hannah Montana's iconic wig, it's still giving me a similar vibe. As a nostalgic millennial, it stole the show before the show even started.

Miley Cyrus isn’t just an early 2000s music icon—she’s an early 2000s fashion icon, too. Case in point? The "Flowers" singer strutted the 2025 Grammys red carpet in a pair of peak Y2K footwear: metallic wedges. Cyrus, dressed by her longtime stylist Bradley Kenneth, wore a leather halter gown, courtesy of Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, paired with the controversial wedges. Here comes the bride… in Chanel Couture, of course. Bona fide pop girlie and Who What Wear cover star Gracie Abrams just strolled onto the Grammy Awards 2025 red carpet wearing an undeniably bridal look. Abrams, who is nominated for one award tonight (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with "Us" featuring Taylor Swift), looks like a vision in the buttery ivory hue. (I mean, if I were rumored to be dating Paul Mescal, I'd be ready to walk down the aisle at a moment's notice, too.)

Abrams, who is a Chanel ambassador, wore a custom butter chiffon dress with a matching veil hood and embellished with a black velvet belt. The singer paired the airy dress with a pin of Chanel's signature flower, the Camellia, and pointed-toe black pumps. Abrams also added a few Chanel Fine and High Jewelry pieces featuring pearls and diamonds, adding to the bridal inspiration.

According to Cosmopolitan reporter Samantha Olson, Abrams said her look felt "liquidity"—a nod to the lightweight, soft feel of the buttery Chanel fabric. I'm sold!

Abrams stands alongside several other exciting Gen Z female nominees tonight, including Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Clairo. Diamonds are a girl's (and, clearly Sabrina Carpenter's) best friend. The "Espresso" singer showed up to the Grammy Awards 2025 red carpet dripping in diamonds—quite literally. Carpenter stunned in nearly 80 carats worth of Chopard diamond rings, earrings, and necklaces, according to the brand, all set in 18K white gold.

Although the star's baby blue, feather-trimmed backless gown from JW Anderson took our team's breath away (you can read it on our live blog!), the star of the show was the 50-carat diamond pendant from Chopard's Garden of Kalahari collection, effortlessly slung across her neck. Only Sabrina could wear a necklace that costs enough to pay for several down payments on a house. Honestly, I have to admit that it's giving pop icon.

Carpenter and her longtime stylist Jared Ellner love to give the girls a good reference. For the Grammys red carpet, the duo decided to pay homage to American actress Shirley MacLaine in the 1964 film What a Way to Go! Ellner and the singer have long referenced bombshell blonde starlets, including Bridgette Bardot and Marilyn Monroe. The singer previously referenced the latter during her 2024 VMAs look, wearing a vintage, body-hugging Bob Mackie gown.

Carpenter, who is wrapping up her Short n' Sweet Tour later this year, is nominated for six Grammy Awards tonight, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist.

Last night, the 66th annual Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles. While there were many notable beauty looks to discuss, including Taylor Swift's Schiaparelli Couture dress and Miley Cyrus's "golden goddess" makeup, we noticed something that would have otherwise slipped subtly under the radar. Two Gen Z celebs walked the pre-show red carpet with classic nude manicures that were created with the exact same drugstore nail polish, and it's only $12. As far as red carpet beauty moments go, this one couldn't be easier to re-create. Keep scrolling to see each celeb's manicure and the nail polish used and learn the exact steps it takes to re-create it. 

Olivia Rodrigo

Yoko Sakakura is the celebrity nail artist who created Rodrigo's manicure. "Tonight, we decided to switch it up from Olivia's usual dark and edgy nails," she said in a press release. "OPI has the prettiest classic shades, and we specifically chose two of my favorite natural tones to capture the same elegant aesthetic as her cream dress adorned in crystals.”

She used OPI's salon-only gel nail polish, but lucky for us, we can re-create the look at home using the exact same shades of the brand's traditional nail polish. In other words, we can get the look without a UV lamp.

Sakakura started by prepping Rodrigo's nails, and then she applied a base coat and cured it. For our purposes, we'll use OPI's Natural Nail Base Coat ($12). Then, it's time for nail color.

First, she applied a thin coat of the brand's iconic shade Put It in Neutral, which is a pink-beige. 

Then, she applied a thin coat of another iconic shade, Bubble Bath, over top. (This is a classic sheer pink and a Who What Wear team favorite.) Sakakura finished off the simple yet effective combo with a layer of topcoat. Again, she used the salon-only gel version, but we'll use OPI's Top Coat ($12). It's as easy as that. 

Madison Beer

Sreynin Peng is the celebrity nail artist who created Madison Beer's manicure. "Keeping it very classic, we went with two popular OPI shades, Do You Take Lei Away? and Put It in Neutral, for Madison's nail look," she said in a press release. "Madison has amazing nails, so we kept the same almond shape that she regularly sports, which can really elevate any nail look. This combined with the layering of the shades offered a timeless nail that perfectly complemented Madison's gown."

Again, OPI's salon-only gel nail polish was used, but we can re-create the look with the same shades in traditional nail lacquer. Just as before, we'll start by prepping our nails and using OPI's Natural Nail Base Coat ($12) to set the foundation for color.

Once the base coat was dry, Peng applied a coat of this muted beige onto Beer's almond-shaped nails. 

Then, she added a layer of Put It in Neutral over the top. The final step was to apply a topcoat. Again, we'll use OPI's Top Coat ($12). That's it—four easy steps to re-creating a red carpet manicure.

Whether you actually tuned in for the 2024 Grammys or not, you probably saw what the biggest stars of the evening chose to wear. From beauty close-ups to full red-carpet breakdowns, my social feeds were alight last night with photos from every angle of the occasion's attendees. One artist who never disappoints when it comes to a red carpet is Dua Lipa. The pop sensation has had quite the year, and her top-charting song for 2023's Barbie—"Dance the Night"—gained her two nominations tonight. With whatever she wore tonight, I knew she wasn't going to disappoint. Lipa arrived on the carpet donning red hair and a shimmery custom Courrèges dress with hip-baring cutouts and a plunging neckline—not to mention the stunning Tiffany & Co. necklace in platinum and 18k yellow gold with orange sapphires, padparadscha sapphires, rubellites, and diamonds draped around her neck.

(We already have that covered!) It's now time to discuss the winning beauty looks celebs turned out, and let me tell you, they're a sight to behold. 

Everything from statement-making hues and bold lip shades to pastels was on full display. Keep scrolling and prepare to be amazed!

Lizzo's stunning fuchsia makeup look complements her dress perfectly. From the burgundy lip to the overstated blush around the eyes, it's a sight to behold. You'd think wearing eyelashes as a mustache is the most controversial outfit Doja Cat could have worn this year so far, but to no one's surprise, she's shocked us all again. 

The rapper and singer, who's nominated for five awards tonight, stepped out on the Grammys red carpet wearing a high-shine latex gown complete with skin-tight opera gloves and vampy makeup. Her look, orchestrated by none other than Atelier Versace high priestess of dominatrix dressing herself Donatella Versace, kicked off the night. Doja Cat, who was no doubt one of the night's most anticipated arrivals, is known for her over-the-top looks and eclectic sense of style (30,000 red crystals—need I say more?). It's dopamine dressing at its finest for the star.

While we can't help but love the tight latex look Doja Cat turned up in, the high-shine style has the internet divided. By all means, latex is sometimes harder to pull off than it is to pull off (in most instances, the fabric is known for its famous appearances in burlesque clubs or high-fashion runways), but personally, I'm solidly in the Team Doja category of this fashion debate. I'm finding myself reaching for my pair of high-power liquid leggings more and more thanks to the newfound legging trend that celebrities have been loving as of late. To no one's surprise, Doja Cat took it to the next level tonight.

When it comes to truly outrageous fashion choices in the music scene, no one is doing it quite like Doja Cat. Whether she’s accepting an award looking like a glamorous worm, wearing an outfit made out of astroturf, or sporting a bedazzled merkin, we can always count on the singer to be wearing something that has never been seen before. And it’s all thanks to Brett Alan Nelson. The creative director and stylist has been working with Doja for years, and is the genius behind so many of those conversation-starting looks, including the music videos for her latest album, Planet Her.

Nelson has also dressed famous clients such as Lizzo, Grimes, and Bebe Rexha, but it’s his prolific work with Doja Cat that truly goes unmatched. Read on for some excerpts from the conversation including how he and Doja come up with their imaginative visual worlds, taking risks for something that feels iconic, and advice on what to wear—and not to wear—to Coachella. You've said you have a common language with Doja. Can you talk to me a little bit about how some of those early conversations went [for Planet Her] and what your process is like for putting together such a huge concept? 

There has to be some sense of common communication because, especially in the music world, these girls can feel very forced into what they're wearing. For Doja, I was always like … "If you are inspired by anything, show me art. Show me movies. Let's look at nature. Let's find this." just to make something feel more fresh. When it comes to the creation behind these videos, I start having very early conversations with her, and then we'll talk to the director, and we'll get a nice streamline together with her first notes. And then I'll go deeper with them to really bring it into Planet Her because we really wanted everything to flow together. As different as each video is, there still is some sort of common thread. … If we wanted to release a film, they would all fit together. 

But when it comes to the creation of clothes, it comes from being told "no" for so long. Obviously, I want my girl in the biggest names of fashion that I can get her in, but when you're a new artist, nobody cares. They just look at you. I was told no so many times that I was just like, "Screw it. I'm going to do everything on my own." So I would start sketching and reach out to different designers that I would very fully collaborate with. It all starts from the sketches. I'll make mood boards, but they're usually more visually inspired than they are fashion inspired. 

For the video "Get Into It (Yuh)," we've got some incredible space galaxy moments. It's so creative and interesting in a way that it really feels like art. Can you walk me through that process and concept? And do you ever get to a moment where you're like, "Oh, no, we need one more look"? Is it really sorted all before you get on set?

I trained under B. Akerlund, who is a god, and she would have five hotel rooms filled with clothes, but I just can't prep like that. It stresses me out. It costs so much money. She does what she does, and she's the queen at it, and I grovel to her feet. But for this video, in particular, Doja, again, had a very short idea where she was like, "I want to build a story line about an alien stealing my cat." And so that's what [the director] Mike Diva did. And that video, for me… I don't know if this movie rings true—and Mike would probably kill me for saying this—but Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, it's like a more highbrow version of that. When it came to the costuming, I had a collaboration with Michael Schmidt. I just wanted to build this queen-commander look that didn't feel too masculine. For Doja, if she was the queen of Planet Her, which she is, we want something that feels sexy and cool. We 3D-scanned her body and molded this white bust piece on her that had this almost Victorian hoop that goes around her back. Originally, the clear parts that she ended up keeping were not supposed to be there. It was supposed to be skin. She's like, "No, I want to keep it clear." And I was a little nervous about it at first, but it felt like armor, which made it feel more commander, and it was perfectly paired with this beautiful pink satin. And then I got a pair of Pleaser 10-inch pumps that I just covered in fabric so they looked like a huge wedge.

How do you know how to do that?

Honestly, I fake it till I make it every time. I feel like I always have ideas of things that I know will work, and when I go to these people that I'm collaborating with, they're like, "It's not gonna work." But I go back and I'm like, "You can't tell me it's not gonna work if we don't try it." I will always want to take the risk of doing something that feels iconic because, for me, in the grand scheme of things—like when we're on our world tour—I want all of these looks in glass boxes. I want people to go back and remember. It's the Gaga effect. You want people to see these amazing creations that people have built because they are museum-worthy art pieces. 

For our listeners who are getting ready for Coachella and want some practical style advice for all of their upcoming outdoor shows, what would you recommend? What feels fresh? What would you like to see people wearing?

This could not sit well with some people. But my only advice of what not to wear to Coachella is a flower crown. We've seen it, and unless you're giving me something special, I don't want to see a flower crown. But I'm a big fan of Coachella. I've gone for 10 years in a row. I think it is so fresh to see every different walk of different kinds of people dressed in what they feel comfortable in partying in. And obviously, it gets really windy and dusty, so you got to have your face covers. But for me, I think grunge is coming back. So give me Courtney Love. Give me a ripped-up babydoll dress with fairy wings and a crown made out of pipe cleaners. You can buy them at any arts and crafts store. My biggest thing, especially as a creator and as a fashion person, is to have fun and be comfortable in what you're wearing. Who cares what anyone else thinks about? Just do what feels cool to you. There are no rules. There are no limits. I mean, Euphoria has taken over the planet. I'm sure everyone will have glitter on their face and sparkles. Just have fun.

If I were to write a list of all the reasons why I love a little black dress, you'd be here reading until 2023. And it turns out the seemingly magical staple has a lot more applications than Sunday brunch or impromptu dinner dates. As the 64th annual Grammy Awards commenced, the LBD also made for a damn good red carpet look. A parade of black dresses stormed this year's ceremony, with celebrities like Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, and Olivia Rodrigo offering up quirky and conventional takes on the staple.

To begin with, Eilish wore a black Rick Owens outfit fashioned as an oversize inside-out suit, accessorizing with tiny sunglasses and platform boots to match. It's the goth-meets-artsy aesthetic you'd expect from Owens, and given Eilish's embrace of black ensembles right now, the look made perfect sense on the recent Oscar winner.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo's take on the LBD fell on the sweeter side of the spectrum, featuring pink embellishments that accentuated the Vivienne Westwood gown's corset shape. The Sour singer's coordinating opera gloves also provided some solid styling inspiration for the next time you find yourself wearing a little black dress. It is impossible not to root for Lizzo. Although the three-time Grammy Award winner was not nominated this year (hey, it's been a tough one for all of us), it was a joy to see Lizzo grace the 63rd annual Grammys stage as a presenter. Not only did she give out the award for Best New Artist to fellow Houstonian, Megan Thee Stallion, but also looked damn good doing so while channeling shimmery mermaid realness in not just one, but two looks over the course of the evening. 

Working with stylist Brett Alan Nelson to create her looks for the night, Lizzo's pastel gowns, both by Balmain, were complemented by several pieces of beautiful Bulgari jewelry and flawless makeup done by Alexx Mayo using all Charlotte Tilbury products. While she switched up her dress and shoes, the "Because I Love You" singer sported her Bulgari baubles—including the brand's classic Serpenti styles in a necklace, bracelets, and rings which included over 267 carats of diamonds—throughout the event.

How long have you been working with Lizzo? Is there a favorite look that comes to mind?

I have been working with Lizzo on a variety of projects over the last two years. My favorite look that I have done with her so far was our Rolling Stone cover with David LaChapelle. 

How would you describe Lizzo's red carpet style? Is there a specific feeling you're going for on Grammys night?

I always keep the disco era in mind when working with Lizzo. She’s such an icon, so I want to play up the iconic legends of that era but make it our own!

What type of jewelry did you have in mind for Lizzo's looks?

I knew Bulgari was the moment. They are such a legendary jewelry brand, and the Serpenti pieces were just so fitting with both dresses.

How has COVID-19 and the nature of remote awards shows been a challenge for you as a celeb stylist?

COVID has been terrible, honestly. Everything is virtual. But as a creative, I always want to give people a space to escape with us and enjoy the moment.

Any tips for viewers at home on achieving their own red carpet-worthy look?

Always have fun! Don’t worry about what anyone else says. If you feel happy and are having fun, then that’s all that matters.
