Fashion always has a way of keeping me on my toes. If you had told me a few months or even days ago that one of my style icons would bring back the winter boot trend I practically lived in during grade school, I would have laughed it off. But here we are. Gigi Hadid was recently seen wearing the inside-out shearling boot trend.

Today, while walking in NYC with a friend, Hadid was spotted in a long double-breasted wool coat paired with tan wide-leg pants and shearling boots adorned with beads from the Portugal-based handmade ready-to-wear brand Alameda Turquesa. This week in New York City, Gigi Hadid traded her Victoria's Secret angel wings for something a bit more comfortable. While walking hand in hand with Bradley Cooper, Hadid wore a Simon Miller Jetz Coat ($695) featuring a faux-fur shearling collar and lining, as well as a petite Loro Piana bag. Gigi Hadid is no stranger to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, and her walk is always one of the most memorable, from her 2015 debut as a "Pink girl" to last year's glittery pink teddy for the show's return to New York in 2024. This year, well, let's just say the performance went straight to the top of her all-time hits, and not just because the supermodel looked fantastic on the runway to the soundtrack of Madison Beer singing "Make You Mine" sultrily in the background, surrounded by fan dancers. After years of thong supremacy, it would take a lot for them to be dethroned, but Hadid kicking off her night in a pair of hot-pink lace boy shorts might just be impactful enough to get the job done. Sure, thongs will never be truly "out." They're too practical to leave our underwear drawers for good. Will boy shorts, however, come back to give them a run for their money in 2025? All signs point to yes.

I don't know about you, but when I think of the Met Gala, three words come to mind: excess, opulence, and luxury. It is, after all, fashion's biggest night, and the guest list includes the who's who of sports, music, and entertainment—all of whom collaborate with top designers and beauty experts for their highly anticipated red carpet appearances. (Plus, a single ticket to the annual event reportedly costs $75K.) So, yeah, I wouldn't normally look to it for budget-friendly beauty inspo.

However, this year, Gigi Hadid had me eating my words. She attended the event wearing a gold Miu Miu halter dress, complemented by a vintage-inspired hairstyle and a classic, rosy makeup look. The latter sure looked like a million bucks, but it was created entirely with drugstore makeup products. In fact, the most expensive product clocked in at a mere $15. (If that's not the epitome of high-low, I don't know what is.)

It seems like the high-low combo was the theme of the night for Hadid. In a Vogue interview with Emma Chamberlain, Hadid revealed her relatable red carpet prep. "I woke up. I was with my man. We had a chill morning, some laughs, and then I went to my house. I had like an hour by myself, then took a shower, had my fitting, had chicken fingers and fries, then got into glam." Celebs really are just like us, aren't they?

In a press release, celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta revealed the inspiration for Hadid's Met Gala makeup look. "For Gigi, I really wanted to give her that bronzy, fresh glam. Something that feels super effortless, like she just got back from a vacation. It’s all about enhancing her natural features, keeping the skin radiant and glossy, and adding that soft warmth to bring everything to life. I love when makeup looks like it’s part of you. Fresh, glowy, and confident."

Ta used nine makeup products in total, all from Maybelline New York. Hadid is a longtime brand ambassador for Maybelline, so I wasn't shocked to find out she wore some of the brand's products on the red carpet. However, I was surprised she exclusively wore the brand's products. As I said, the Met Gala is synonymous with luxury, so I figured there'd be at least one or two high-end makeup products thrown into the mix. Nope. The most expensive item was only $15. The first time I laid eyes on the flats Gigi Hadid just wore was actually not on Gigi Hadid. It was on the S/S 25 Miu Miu runway—and I haven't been able to get them out of my head ever since. It takes a lot for me to get excited by a pair of loafers at this point; there are a lot of them. But leave it to Miu Miu to defy the odds and design a fresh pair that I'd gladly splurge on. And of course, Hadid, the Miu Miu muse with impeccable taste, got her hands on them.

The shoes, which Miu Miu named the Ruches Loafers, may look like traditional penny loafers with Miu Miu's signature logo at first glance, but they're unique. The flats, which are made of buttery nappa leather, feature softly rounded square toes and ruched elastic heels that resemble ballet shoes. For this reason, I'm coining them ballet loafers. It's the best of both worlds, don't you think?

Hadid opted for the loafers in red to match her striped red-and-white button-down shirt, but the brand also makes them in white, chocolate brown, and black. I predict none of the colorways will stay in stock for much longer, so keep scrolling to shop them if you need a pair in your life.

As you'd expect given her popularity, Gigi Hadid's 30th birthday party that just took place in NYC was quite the star-studded affair. Fittingly, all of the attendees showed up in trendy outfits for the night out—including Hadid herself, who attended with Bradley Cooper and wore a corset-style bodysuit and leather pants.

I'm one of those people who always looks to see what shoes someone is wearing before anything else, and I noticed a trend when doing so with the birthday crowd, which included Bella Hadid (obviously), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Anne Hathaway, to name a few.

For context (and to prove that my headline wasn't hyperbolic), pretty much everyone has been declaring high heels dead since the start of the pandemic and for several years thereafter. This was especially true for ultra-high stilettos, which were unofficially replaced with kitten heels. But based on the unofficial red carpet that was the entrance to Hadid's party, it seems that celebrities, at least, think that five years is enough of a hiatus and are ready to wear ultra-high heels for their nights out. Spring is in the air, and like clockwork, I have no idea how to get dressed for the day ahead. The biggest question mark during the transitional period between seasons is what on earth do I wear as outerwear? It's too warm (finally!) for a down jacket but still too chilly for a lightweight denim or canvas coat. As the flowers bloom and we finally shed our coats, New Yorkers (and everyone else) are happily shopping for pretty tops again. One of those New Yorkers is Gigi Hadid, who stepped out on a sunny day over the weekend wearing a vintage top that was the perfect example of the shirt trend that works beautifully with jeans and flats. To be fair, Gigi Hadid is my year-round beauty muse, but she practically dominates my mood once spring and summer roll around. Her golden, wavy French bob, her sculpted, glowing skin… Is she not the literal definition of a sun goddess? As we gear up for the scorching season, I've been on the prowl for any Hadid-approved product staples to add to my routine; so when I had the chance to pick the brain of Patrick Ta—the supermodel's longtime makeup artist lauded for crafting a glass-like glow—I had to ask him for some red carpet staples.

His main tip? Focus the glow head to toe. "When a face is perfectly contoured and highlighted, but the body lacks that same glow, the overall look can feel incomplete," he tells me. "I always put a finishing glowy touch on the body—from décolletage to shoulders—because it truly completes the look."
