Style Notes: As I've mentioned, I've tried a lot of jeans in my time so I'm always intrigued by a new cut. Enter the Carpenter Jean, which features bold utilitarian seam detailing and a relaxed, baggy silhouette. If looser shapes are your go-to this is a great way to rejuvenate your jeans selection whilst staying true to your favourite cut. This pair fit true to size, with the looser shape offering comfort as well as the soft denim fabric. This pair comes in one length, but as I've said most dry cleaners will be able to take off a few inches for a reasonable price, especially as they'll become a constant feature in your outfit builds.

THE WAY-HIGH JEAN

Style Notes: I'd heard great things about the Way-High Jean so was really excited to see how these fit. These are a classic straight-leg style with a nice high waist silhouette, a truly versatile shape and cut. The Way-High comes in eleven wash choices and three leg lengths, here I've gone for the dark indigo wash with an inseam of 27.5". The style fits true to size, and here I've taken my normal size 27. Whilst there is a bit of stretch, these are definitely a more rigid denim which made for a great fit. If you prefer a looser waistband for comfort, I'd suggest sizing up.

THE BAGGY JEAN

Style Notes: Baggy jeans have become a mainstay cut in fashion people's wardrobes, but finding the right balance of wide leg silhouette and fitted waist can be hard. This pair seriously impressed, fitting true to size, with a rigid denim that still feels incredibly comfortable thanks to the looser silhouette. Again, the waist is a high-rise style which helps to elongate the leg. This pair comes in one leg length, but at 5'2" I'm used to taking my trousers to the dry cleaners for a quick tailoring at a reasonable cost. If you are petite, you will most likely need to get these hemmed.

THE ORIGINAL CHEEKY JEAN

Style Notes: Yet another iconic pair from the brand, the Original Cheeky Jean has been a favourite since their release. These fit more like a skinny jean on the thigh though continues to a straighter silhouette below the knee. Featuring 2% elastane, the jeans are relatively rigid with a little bit of give, and I personally found my regular size a tighter fit so would recommend sizing up unless you're a die-hard skinny jeans fan who likes them to be ultra-snug. Again, there was no gaping at the back of this pair, and features a raised back-hook seam and high-placed back pockets for a lifted look on the bum. Like many of Everlane's best-selling jeans, this pair also comes in a curve fit.

Ask any fashion editor or stylist what they look for when shopping for themselves and it's likely you'll hear the same key words: "classic", "timeless", "flattering", "versatile" and of course, chic, but its rare that you find one brand that ticks all of these boxes at once. Equal parts comfy-casual, laidback luxe and high/low styling, all in one fuss-free package. Did I mention its even garnered celeb fans? I’ve always been a city girl. I was born in Kuala Lumpur, grew up in Houston, and upon moving to L.A., lived comfortably east of the 405 for years. My daily trifecta. It may be the beach, but it ain't cocktails and bikinis everyday. Venice can get downright chilly thanks to miss marine layer often overstaying her welcome. The key is layering: a tank for when the sun comes out, trusty broken-in denim, comfy-enough-to-walk-in cowboy boots (you can take the girl out of Texas), and a great statement coat to cinch the look.

SWEATER + SLIP DRESS + SLIP-ONS

Date night, happy hour, or girls' dinner, this is my go-to outfit. I love the feel of a slinky, figure-skimming slip. (I'm partial to ultra short or ankle-grazing.) Having a sweater on hand both ensures I'm cozy and adds dimension to the look. Because I finally learned how to ride a bike recently (no, I will not be taking questions at this time), a comfy closed-toe shoe guarantees I can pedal, walk, or if the night drags on, dance comfortably.

THE DIANA LOOK

Aka my "running errands" look. I could be on my way to a workout (but am probably just running to the Erehwon hot bar). It's sporty but polished, and if it was good enough for a princess, it's good enough for me!

Earlier this November, I felt downright giddy when I realized my Australia trip was right around the corner. A sunny reprieve in the middle of winter (okay, I live in California, but still)? Yes, please!

I was so blinded by my own sunny outlook that I chose to ignore my Australian relatives' warnings. November, they warned me, was more akin to spring, and rain was far likelier than beach days. "Totally," I agreed as I spread bikinis out on my bed.

Here's the cold, hard truth: Melbourne is chilly. Weather-wise, it's got the moody marine layer of San Francisco with a healthy dash of Seattle fog. It's a gorgeous city but a gray city nonetheless! Your girl was freezing, her dreams of returning stateside a sun-kissed goddess dashed. Ever the optimist and buoyed by a daily diet of piping-hot meat pies, I chose to look on the bright side. I was 11 hours ahead of home, putting me in the unique position of living in the future, baby! With newfound zeal, I hit the streets, credit card at ready and a keen eagle eye trained on what the cool Melbourne girls were wearing. 

A GREAT PAIR OF SUNGLASSES

Due to its geographical location, the sun in Australia is no joke. While this meant I got to stock up on some excellent sunscreen (local beauty brands are my favorite souvenirs), it also meant I never went outside without my shades on me. Even on the foggiest Melbourne day, Australians are prudent about their UV protection, meaning a cool array of sunnies is spotted all over the city.

FLORALS? FOR SPRING?

Forgive me for that Devil Wears Prada reference. I'm only human. Floral prints reigned supreme, and I noticed a wide and gorgeous array of brightly colored sundresses on my daily strolls. The women in Melbourne looked like hothouse flowers, draped in structured, flared, and layered numbers that easily took them from day to night.
