The Pitt's Shabana Azeez stepped onto the red carpet with flushed, rose-toned cheeks, matte pink lips, and a sultry cat eye for a romantic look that perfectly complemented her eye-catching scarlet dress.

It's no secret that Jenny Slate knows how to wear a bob to perfection, but we're obsessed with this "wet" micro bob look. This time around, she went the French-girl route by pairing it with a rich berry-toned lip, minimalistic eye makeup, and bold brows.

Putting together an elegant party outfit is about as close to impossible as winning the lottery or getting a table at NYC's Polo Bar… the two concepts just don't really go together. Suki Waterhouse and her baby bump just made their debut at the 2024 Emmys red carpet in a stunning backless Valentino couture gown. 

If 2023 was the year of the girl—complete with frills, bows, and an ode to innocence—2024 seems to be the year of the mum. The Emmys red carpet marks one of the first occasions Waterhouse has stepped out after announcing her pregnancy with fiancé Robert Pattinson.

Waterhouse, who announced her pregnancy on stage at a concert, is attending the award show in support of her Daisy Jones and the Six castmates who are up for awards tonight. There have been so many incredible red carpet beauty moments the past few months that I don't even know where to start. From Lizzo's slicked-back look at the MTV Video Music Awards to Florence Pugh's showstopping dress and hair at the Venice Film Festival, let's just say my Pinterest board has enough inspiration to last me a lifetime. But as a a beauty-obsessed editor, I've also come to realize that I can't stop and, quite frankly, won't stop. That brings us to the current source of my admiration—the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet beauty looks. Stars arrived to Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles for the annual awards sporting a variety of looks—from Old Hollywood glamour and rhinestones to trendy cuts like the blunt bob. Keep scrolling and prepare to be wowed—stunning looks ahead.

I can't even quite pinpoint what exactly makes this look so perfect. The diamond earrings? The '60s-style hair? The peach lip? All of the above.

It really is the little things. Hoyeon used a tiny flower as a hair accessory, and it's so so cute.

Amazingly enough, Issa's whole makeup look is from affordable brand E.l.f. Cosmetics. Yep, you read that right.

Kaley is definitely leaning into the Barbiecore trend, and I'm here for it. Who doesn't love a rosy-pink lip?

Never underestimate how good simple makeup and slicked-back hair can be. If you were ever having doubts, let Rosario be your proof.

Electric-purple eye shadow is so in. Sasheer kept the rest of her makeup pretty simple and went with a super-bold eye.

Rachel's look is subtle, but the lilac shadow on her lids and shimmer on the inner corners is really working for me.

I love that this shade of red is bold but not overtly so. It almost has a hint of pink to it.

She not only blessed us with this gem of a look, but also, she launched Fenty Beauty, Fenty Lingerie, and her luxury clothing label, Fenty, this past decade cementing the fact that It was Rihanna’s decade and we were all just living in it.

WHAT: 87th Annual Academy Awards, 2015

Of all the stars, it must be noted that Zendaya had the greatest glow-up of the decade. The former Disney star not only redefined her career through shows like, Euphoria, but women of color everywhere all felt seen when she would show up to award shows rocking her natural hair paired with an equally bomb look. Whatever texture, and whatever outfit Z wore, we all were left wondering if we could become the carpet, just so she could step on our neck.

Beyoncé once said, "Don’t hurt yourself,” but honestly, I've spent the last decade hurt. As any member of the Beehive knows, Beyoncé had us going through the past decade (in the best way). She emanated a level of excellence that only Beyoncé can achieve. I mean, I could list all the incredible things she did in the last decade: producing an iconic visual album, launching her apparel line, being the first black woman to headline Coachella and turning it into a record-breaking Netflix documentary—and we haven’t even gotten to any of the fire fits she served us with. But let’s be real, this singular look says it all.

WHO: Zoe Saldaña

WHAT: Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, Met Gala, 2016

WEAR: Dolce & Gabbana gown; Christian Louboutin heels

One would be naive to not correlate style with Zoe Saldaña—I mean, just look at this Dolce & Gabbana gown she wore to the Met Gala back in 2016. But, beyond blessing us with her beauty, Saldaña has continuously spoken up about the lack of LatinX representation within Hollywood over the past decade. Whoever said caring wasn’t stylish didn’t know about Saldaña.

While the wider population may know Amal purely by her husband’s last name, the truth is she’s so much more than that. Even the most anti-Kardashian of people can’t shy away from admitting the impact Kim Kardashian West has had in the past decade on style. After all, no other celebrity sent fast-fashion sites in a tizzy to re-create her looks in a matter of minutes; and no other person has quite brought to the forefront conversations around cultural appropriation versus appreciation. So no matter what you feel, there’s no denying this woman’s place in the cultural zeitgeist.

But their style is by no means limited to the runways; they both have served up iconic red carpet and street style looks, solidifying the fact that fashion runs in their veins.

No other woman quite encapsulated what it means to be posh in the 2010s other than Posh Spice herself. She didn’t have one iconic look of the decade per se, rather, Victoria Beckham’s ability to continually serve up a pantsuit look, is well, something for the ages.

Y’all thought we were done with the royal weddings? Nope. This past decade blessed us with not one but two. And in that fashion, Meghan Markle also blessed us with this second controversial reception dress from Stella McCartney on her big day, along with the most fabulous guest list to ever attend a wedding. And while some questioned (and continue to question) Meghan’s style choices from that day on, for many, as they tuned in to watch the royal nuptials, they realized that for the first time they could see themselves reflected in a Dutchess and her personal style.

Honestly, what is life without Celine Dion? Do you know any other women who can pull off a Chanel spandex jumpsuit? About halfway through the Emmy Awards red carpet tonight, there was an overwhelming trend taking over. It’s not subtle. There’s no way to miss it. It’s yellow—bright, burst-of-sunshine, neatly highlighter-marker yellow.

Of course, the trend of yellow is not new in fashion. Our community of Who What Wear readers love it, an entire generation has been tied to it, but there’s no better evidence of a major trend than at least eight stylish celebrities wearing the same color within the same red carpet event.

Are dress codes merely just a suggestion? According to Black-ish star Jenifer Lewis, they really are. Following a long summer of seemingly endless vacation days, it's time for celebrities to get back to the award show circuit, starting with tonight's highly anticipated 70th annual Emmy Awards in downtown Los Angeles. With the 2025 Emmys set to take place on Sunday, September 14, we decided to take a walk down memory lane and revisit some iconic '90s fashion moments from the ceremony. We don't mean to sound stuck in the past, but one of our favorite activities is looking at red carpet images before Instagram and TikTok ever existed.
