As a manicure-obsessed beauty editor, there's nothing that excites me more than a fresh set. I spend hours scrolling on Pinterest and sifting through my favorite nail artists' social media posts to see which image I should recreate next—whether a glitchy mismatched set or stunning single-polish paint job—but it recently dawned on me that most of my saved photos were shot across the pond.

If you looked through my phone, you'd see a camera roll peppered with snaps of Dua Lipa's trend-setting manis, crafted by London-based celebrity manicurist Michelle Humphrey, or the detailed work of Milan-based nail artist Oksana Zavora, who creates intricate sets directly inspired by fashion trends and timely runways. "American trends often embrace longer lengths [and] bolder colours and designs—think Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner," says Ashman. "Although this is not always gospel!" Humphrey adds.

If there's one trend that unites the American and European nail scene, it's the milky manicure trend. "Sheer, glossy colours have been huge—from milky nudes to bright jelly shades," says Hughes. From translucent polishes to barely there soap nails, this reigning trend embraces hues that are closer to gauzy layers of chiffon than pigmented polish. "Sheer nude nails that look healthy, glossy, and expensive are still one of the most requested looks," Humphrey adds. "The clean girl aesthetic prevails!"

After seeing It girls like Suki Waterhouse and Lipa rock black nails in the middle of summer (Summerween nails, some may call them), I knew we had a chic seasonal trend on our hands. Humphrey confirms my theory by calling out Essie's Like it Loud as a great color for summer 2026—an inkblot shade that, ironically, goes great with a tan. Ashman agrees, adding that other gothic hues like black cherry are equally striking in the summertime. "A tan with a deep black-red looks very chic," she notes. "I’ve created similar looks on Lily Collins and Lily Allen this summer."

American tastemakers may still be on the glazed-donut chrome manicure wave, but Europeans have graduated to sets that look a bit more dimensional. "Cat eye nails have become a staple," Humphrey croons. "For the more maximalist clients, I’m getting requests for juicy jelly shades—particularly reds [and] pinks," says Humphrey. These vibrant, semi-sheer hues were trending with a similar fervor last year thanks to a healthy heap of nostalgia—the sticky-sweet colors reminding us of popsicles melting under the blazing sun and sorbet-stained lips. Stepping away from the flip-flops and barely-there sandals we've all been living in for the past few months, she instead reached for their antithesis: a pair of knee-high biker boots.

God really does take everything a girl wants, doubles it, and gives it to Dua Lipa. That's how the internet joke goes but honestly it's true. After serving us the chicest wedding inspiration of the year, Dua headed off to her honeymoon, wearing the kind of summer wardrobe we've been dreaming of.

One outfit we haven't been able to stop thinking about was featured in a selfie of one of Lipa's now iconic vacation carousel photo dumps. While somewhere in Italy, Lipa opted for a Isabel Marant navy sequin tank top with jeans and a Bvlgari Serpenti Seduttori watch.

After officially tying the knot at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall a few weeks ago—where the bride wore a custom, Bianca Jagger-esque Schiaparelli skirt suit and elegant wide-brimmed hat—Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have now shared photographs from the second chapter of their celebrations in Sicily.

For the first stage of the Italian festivities, Dua wore a custom Bottega Veneta halterneck gown featuring the house's signature intrecciato-inspired detailing. For the main event, however, Dua turned to a house with which she has a long-standing relationship: Chanel.

The bride wore a custom Chanel Haute Couture wedding gown adorned with feathers and crystal embellishments. The halterneck design featured a low back and elongated train scattered with delicate feather detailing. She completed the look with a feather-trimmed headpiece and a long embroidered veil.

Handcrafted at Chanel's ateliers at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, the gown brought together the expertise of several of the house's specialist métiers d'art. 480,000 beads were hand-embroidered across the dress, whilst the trompe l'oeil jewelled embellishments took 1,155 hours to create. The two-metre train was finished with 25,000 feathers, and Dua's six-metre tulle veil was similarly embellished with hand-embroidered beads and feathers for an elegant, cohesive finish.

The gown marks the first Chanel Haute Couture wedding dress designed by Matthieu Blazy for a friend of the house. As an official Chanel ambassador and the face of the Chanel 25 handbag campaign, Lipa's choice of wedding dress felt incredibly fitting.

Elegant and extraordinary, but not at the expense of her own playful style, Dua's feather-embellished gown has me thinking that the era of '90s style slinky designs is over, and that a new bridal trend is on the horizon.
