Jenna Ortega is taking her press tour for Netflix's new Addams family series, Wednesday, very seriously, especially when it comes to her outfits. A month after wearing a completely sheer black lace dress to Valentino's S/S 23 show, the Gen Z darling wore a similar, albeit even more daring, look for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. This time, though, her dress featured a sky-high slit unlike any we've seen before. 

For the show, Ortega and her stylist Enrique Melendez chose a long-sleeve half–French lace, half-opaque dress from fashion favorite label Dion Lee and a pair of Christian Louboutin platforms. In addition to the see-through material, it featured cutouts around the ribs and up to the actress's hip on one side. Bold? Yes. Shockingly pretty? Also yes.

The Melbourne Cup is one of the biggest days in the racing and social calendar. Celebrities often spend weeks prepping looks in advance with their stylist (follow @Jess_Pecoraro for proof!) and from what we've spotted so far, all the prep work has been well worth it.

We stopped in our tracks when we spotted Pip Edwards' outfit on Instagram. While there are countless dress code rules for race day, we love that Pip has stepped away from what we'd normally see, and worn something so original and unexpected.

P.E Nation's co-founder arrived at the Melbourne Cup this year sporting a tan suit from Dion Lee's S/S 19 collection that featured a tailored blazer and, wait for it, bermuda shorts. She paired the look with a Gucci straw hat, Fendi mini bucket bag, Balenciaga heels and two Cartier Juste un Clou bangles. 

It's looking very likely that we'll be shunning dresses in favour of short suits this summer.

We've been predicting the return of Havaianas for quite some time. We know, we know. You never actually stopped wearing them, but remember in the early 2000s when you'd wear them with a denim miniskirt and polo T-shirt and that was your fashion vibe? Somewhere along the way they transitioned into commute shoes, beach shoes, weekend shoes. They never technically disappeared, but the way you wore them changed.

On the inclusion of the relaxed shoe choice, Dion Lee said "The Australian lifestyle has always been a strong source of inspiration for me. Working with Havaianas, we integrated such a quintessential Australian footwear style in with the overall collection. They are such an iconic Australian look, we loved being able to include them in our NYFW show.

As a designer, I am always exploring complexity and construction in my collections. Working this way means that the collection always needs to be balanced with simplicity. This season that simplicity was introduced via pairing some of the looks back with Havaianas thongs in classic black and white colourways."

Selecting your dream wedding dress is no easy feat, but we imagine that choosing a trio of dresses would be even harder. Vogue just profiled Nicole Warne's stunning wedding, and we can't take our eyes off the three gowns she wore for the occasion.

While New York Fashion Week is in full swing, it’s fair to say that for those of us not located in New York City, it can feel a bit... distant. Literally. Especially all the way from Australia, where our seasons are opposite to our style-sisters overseas, New York fashion can tend to feel a little misplaced.

Granted, Fashion Week street style does provide us with great inspiration for what to wear in the coming seasons—but it can be hard to put this into perspective when we’re still in our last month of summer. After all, who can say whether or not the trends we’re seeing this week will still feel exciting come winter?

So, needless to say, we were more than excited to see a number of Australian designers show up to Fashion Week in the best way possible. With Alice McCall presenting for the first time at NYFW followed by Dion Lee the same day, New York City began to get a taste of Aussie fashion.

If there was any doubt about the trends we're bringing overseas, Zimmermann’s day five show confirmed that Australian designers deserve a spot in the international style scene. Drawing the attention of trendsetters, both Australian and otherwise, these shows were definitely successful, garnering attention from the likes of Victoria Lee, Olivia Palermo, Jessica Hart, and Katie Holmes to name a few.

In case you haven’t heard by now, Dion Lee is an Australian fashion label by the designer of the same name. Established in 2009 in Sydney, the brand is now sold globally at some of the world’s most elite retailers including Net-A-Porter and Bergdorf Goodman, to name a few.

Already lauded for its sleek, chic apparel, Dion Lee has something exciting on the horizon. The brand will launch its first [SHOES] collection at its runway show at New York Fashion Week. And we can’t wait. Much in line with the brand’s already existent cachet, the collection features all your favourite footwear styles—but better.

While Dion Lee has designed shoes before, it has only ever been at the capacity of one or two styles per season. In the past, the shoes have been fit thematically in accordance with the season’s line, so we’re eager to see a collection that is independent from the apparel altogether. Lucky for us, this time around the brand is spoiling us with a full-fledged collection.

Combining Victorian-style lace-ups with slender silver heels, Dion Lee's [SHOES] is putting a new twist on old classics. Not to mention, the pointed toes feel very relevant in terms of elevated shoe options. While we can’t wait to see how these shoes appear on the runway, we’re equally interested in how they’ll be appearing in the on the cement runways as well.

Equally adaptable for a night out or day at the office, we can imagine these shoes paired with silky black dresses, as well as jeans and a t-shirt. Sticking with neutral tones and red, this line will be wearable with virtually any outfit.

Last weekend, we got a taste of what trends our favourite Australian celebrities and influencers are wearing this racing season. Attending last weekend's Caulfield Cup, Jesinta Franklin shone in another outfit that was once again styled by Sydney-based stylist Jess Pecoraro. As Pecoraro has had such successful results dressing Franklin time and time again, we chatted to the celebrity stylist to find out how the process of pulling together a show-stopping outfit actually works. While it seems fairly straightforward, there's a bit more involved than you'd think. And for this race day outfit, it all started with a trip to New York.

WHO: Jesinta Franklin

Pecoraro fell in love with the intricate-detailed grey dress at the Dion Lee showing at New York Fashion Week earlier this year, and thought of Franklin as soon as she saw it. "After Jesinta wore a feminine floral Zimmermann number at the Spring Champion Stakes Day, it was time to go with something a little sharper, edgier, and structured," Pecoraro says.

When it came time to matching accessories to the Dion Lee dress, Pecoraro worked with Australian jewellery brand Sarah & Sebastian collaborating ideas revolving around minimal jewellery, as well as a headpiece that would work with the dress. Pecoraro wanted something completely fresh, and there was no chance an ordinary hat or fascinator was going to be complement the stunning piece. 

After weeks of preparing and adjusting each part of the outfit to make sure all of the custom elements perfectly fit, often the completed look doesn't come together until the very last minute, which Pecoraro explains is the toughest part to styling. "Trust is essential from both sides, that's what's really crucial to being a stylist," says Pecoraro.

Static Guard spray—we always have some in our kit and it is the most failsafe way not to damage fabric!

I often just lotion up legs and arms anywhere the fabric is slinging to and that will usually stop the problem.

If I am out and about and have no lotion or static guard, I'll run my hands under the taps and flick the droplets from my wet hands onto the garment. This always stops static but beware of leaving watermarks on fabrics like brushed silk.

1. Pick Pieces That Highlight Your Favourite Body Part

When you're deciding exactly what to wear, think about the part of your body that you love most, and show it off. "Accentuate your favourite features and wear formfitting clothing," advises Lewis. Consider showing a little shoulder, or wear a minidress to highlight your legs. Additionally, stick to clothing that accentuates the waist and helps to create curves. Notes Gandhi, "Any woman can create a waist with the right skirt or by using a belt."

2. Wear Heels, But Make Sure They're Comfortable

There's no worse feeling than being stuck out and about in uncomfortable shoes, so our experts recommend that you make sure to keep things comfortable, but opt for something with a heel. "Heels are a MUST," Lewis says. "Call us old-fashioned, but heels are designed to make men flip out—in the good way. Wear a pair you can last the night in." Gandhi also notes that a comfortable heel can add a boost of confidence: "We walk a little bit different, and we feel different about ourselves even with an inch-and-a-half heel."

3. Show a Little Skin, But Not Too Much

When it comes to choosing exactly how revealing your look will be, experts recommend striking a balance instead of showing too much skin. Suggests Gandhi, "If you're going to show cleavage, do a long-sleeve or a dress just above the knee. If you're going to wear a mini, choose a dress that's higher. Less is more." Lewis agrees, noting "A good Valentine's Day outfit will be classically beautiful and tasteful." She continues that the perfect outfit is one "that will accentuate your curves or your legs. Choose one, not both."

When it comes to dressing for the office, fashion girls probably have a hard time feeling at home in a corporate environment—but that doesn't mean you should settle for just any old wares! Your dress code might not exactly allow on-trend pieces like graphic sweatshirts and velvet frocks, but you can still look totally stylish at your 9-to-5. Enter: Dion Lee's brand-new suit collection, created in collaboration with The Woolmark Company.

The 10-piece collection uses high-quality Australian merino wool. "Lee noticed a gap in the market in women’s professional wardrobes and wanted to create a collection incorporating principles of functional design, craftsmanship and luxury fabrications," the brand said in a statement. The gorgeous collab will be available on DionLee.com and Net-a-Porter later this month.

Dion Lee showcased his S/S 17 collection at New York Fashion Week overnight, and as one of the few Australian designers presenting, it was one of our most anticipated shows of the week and didn't disappoint. The collection featured neutral tones (white, navy, beige, black) with a pop of neon orange and a jewellery collaboration with Sarah & Sebastian.

Right before the show, we caught up with Dion Lee to find out five fast facts about the collection. This is what we learnt...

1. This is the first season Dion Lee presented in New York since relocating the design studio from Sydney to Tribeca.
2. S/S17 was inspired by kinetic art and features linear elements to create texture and movement.
3. Dion Lee has a new venue this season, showing for the first time at Pier 59, a bleached white space, filled with natural light.
4. Limited edition Dion Lee [EYE] styles will feature in the runway show. The eyewear will be available in exclusive retailers in February.
5. Post show, Dion Lee + Woolmark launched the [SUIT] collection in an intimate gathering hosted at the Australian Ambassador’s Residence.

Do you remember those incredible Céline skateboards that blew up a few years ago? The creator behind one of the most coveted (at least for me) items of 2011 was fashion blogger Jayne Min, of Stop It Right Now. The stylist and creative director has since become a go-to source of inspiration for her skate-meets-fashion vibe. Her style is very Sydney right now. Combining denim with sleek design and cool outwear (like this perfect bomber jacket) means when she visits Australia, she slips in like a local.

Who What Wear Australia: How was your recent trip to Australia?

Jayne Min: A true vacation in every sense of the word. Eat, swim, sleep, swim, eat, sleep, and eat again. Each time I visit, my Australian retirement plan gets a little more cemented in my mind.

WWW: What did you enjoy most?

JM: I always enjoy the food. Australians really know how to do a good breakfast! No one does it better.

WWW: Is there a special link between you and Australia?

JM: When I finally went freelance after nearly a decade working at companies, I took a really monumental Eat Pray Love-style solo trip to Australia. It will always be a special, magical place that healed me and got me excited about my new life. Oh and that taught me about breakfast plates.

WWW: Did you discover any new Australian labels? What designers do you love best?

JM: I've been a long-time fan of Ellery, Dion Lee, and Christopher Esber. New labels I love are Matteau Swim and Her The Label. They make the best one pieces hands down. And this time around I became full-blown obsessed with Country Road beach towels, ha-ha! An Australian institution!

WWW: What do you think is different about Australian style?

JM: I think because it's so remote, Australians have had to be self-reliant and cultivated a lot of great domestic brands. The fashion scene really reflects the lifestyle here. It's the perfect mix of city and beach, almost like if you blended LA and NY. Australian women are chic!

WWW: What were your favourite places you visited in Australia?

JM: To be honest, I just love my go-to breakfast spots ha-ha. My favourites are O Organic Produce, Reuben Hills, Bunker, Gnome, and Shuk. The Art Gallery of NSW has to be one of my favourite museums anywhere, so I always make sure to stop by. The Blue Mountains are gorgeous too.

WWW: What do you owe your success to?

JM: Hard work and not caring what other people are doing.

WWW: What is your best fashion advice?

JM: Wear what makes you happy.

WWW: What is the worst fashion advice you've been given?

JM: For me personally, anything that errs on the side of feminine.

WWW: How do you curate your wardrobe to fit into a suitcase when you travel?

JM: Everything black. One black trouser, one black denim, one black skirt, one black cashmere sweater, one black T-shirt, one black tank. Mix and match everything. 

WWW: What do you always pack in your suitcase?

JM: I usually end up packing more toiletries than clothes or shoes. It probably takes up half of the weight limit, no joke. I pack a full skincare regimen, various creams and serums and SPFs (Australian sun is serious business!) and every kind of mask, plus I always pack a scented candle no matter what. Other than that, a compact iPhone charger I can put in my purse. I never ever, ever travel without one, I'm so paranoid of getting lost and being without Google Maps.

WWW: What Australian designers do you think are the ones to watch in 2016?

JM: Dion Lee and Ellery have been steadily gaining more global attention. I'm just waiting for them to open US stores!

WHAT: Ten Pieces S/S 15

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is the most exciting time on the Sydney fashion calendar. International fashion icons roll in, the cameras come out and our designers showcase their collections for global eyes.

Next year though, things are changing. IMG announced today Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia will change from a mid-April execution to May 15 – 21. The date change marks the first shift in the Australian fashion week calendar in 20 years and as a result, designers will now showcase Resort collections to the world’s most influential buyers and media. 

One of our most prominent designers, Dion Lee, explains the shift. “We welcome Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia’s move to late May. MBFWA will now sit within a sales period for our business, which was a missed opportunity in the past. The April date has been too late to take Fall/Winter orders and too early to present Resort. The change will allow us to launch our Resort collection in Sydney during the beginning of the global sales window for this collection.’’

As Lee describes, it makes sense commercially and will showcase Australian design to an even wider, global audience.

Fact: Anine Bing knows good basics. Bing is also a big fan of leather separates and a muted neutral palette that place her line towards the edgy end of the spectrum.

 5. Acne Studios

With its signature moto jackets and brilliant balance between feminine and masculine, the Stockholm-based label is an obvious choice for this list. Unlike the all-black ensembles that might come to mind when you think of edgy style though, Acne Studios is a master at creating unisex-friendly color palettes that somehow still read as tough.

6. Marine Serre

What I'd buy: Second-skin tops, utility-inspired separates

When we talk about special basics, The Range is one of the first that comes to mind. Easy, versatile, and cool, their collection includes the kind of seasonless, day-to-night pieces that capture New York’s cool vibe.
