As the Scandinavian epicentre of fashion, it only feels right to curate a Copenhagen summer capsule wardrobe, particularly if you'll be visiting this August for fashion week. But even if you simply just adore the Danes' sense of style, this compilation has everything needed for dressing like the most fashionable women in this city. Like any summer-in-the-city capsule wardrobe, you'll notice that Scandinavian summer style has its own distinct aesthetic, too. In Denmark's capital, it's a divine mix of minimalism and playful hues. You'll spot simple silhouettes and luxe-looking colour palettes in a rainbow of neutrals, but the fashion set in Copenhagen has no trouble experimenting with chartreuse, aquamarine or a bold stripe pattern.

So when flocks of fashionable people descend upon the city, what do they wear? And what's part of a Copenhagen summer capsule for the everyday? You'll get a good idea from this list, in which I've distilled eight specific pieces that have earned the approval of it girls in this city. It makes for an ultra-chic packing list if you're on your way to an exhibit at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art or stopping for brunch at Atelier September. (Both of which just so happen to be some of Dua Lipa's favourite destinations in the city.) Not to mention, all of these items work well together and within various combinations.

As far as tops go, you'll see this year's beloved peasant top trend in droves, as well as striped T-shirts and windbreakers-as-tops. Bottoms include relaxed jeans, Bermuda shorts and lace-trim slip skirts. As for shoes, Copenhagen women rotate between ballet flats, heeled sandals and loafers. Add a sweet lace bandana or a suede baguette bag, and you'll blend into the fashion crowd exceptionally well.

The French are experts in effortless elegance, the Italians how to be polished to perfection, Americans are all about statement dressing and Londoners are never afraid to take risks, but when it comes to the women whose wardrobes I most want to raid, the titles goes to the Scandis.

Equal parts minimalist (think Toteme, Malene Birger, House of Dagmar and Rohë) and free-spirited (Cecilie Bahnsen, Ganni and ROTATE), I always get just as excited to see the street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week as I do the shows. Why? Scandi women know to put together looks that have a feel entirely unique to their countries. Always the leaders and never the followers, it's likely any trend that is gaining traction now was on Swedish girls a year ago, and if it's spiking on social media, the Danish will have already been there and got the (viral) t-shirt.

Given then, just how tricky it is to dress for the new season transition, why not look straight to the professionals and see how Scandis are dressing for spring in order to inspire our own wardrobes? From the new blouse trend that could rival classic white to the cosy collared knit that you won't have seen coming, these are the six trends we're copying from our Swedish sisters in spring 2026.

1. Check Blouses

Style Notes: White blouses and jeans have become synonymous with European summers, but just a short hop across the continent Scandi girls are experimenting with colour and prints, most notably the check blouse. Usually spotted with wide leg trousers or balloon skirts, this pretty trend marries together the traditional blouse and check flannel shirt, creating the ultimate cool-hybrid. When we say "jeans and a nice top", this is what we mean now.

2. Paint Box Brights

Style Notes: One thing worth studying about Scandi style is just how well they effortlessly mix and clash colours (and look up Marianne Theodorsen, Janka Polliani and Emili Sindlev if you don't believe me). Unafraid of uninhibited brights, this spring forget sugary pastels, fashion insiders are stacking crayon colours to create joyful looks entirely their own. Sorry white tees, but we're looking at new basics now.

3. Wedges

Style Notes: Finally, a comfortable shoe trend that looks as good as it feels. While Brits are still being gently coaxed out of our socks and loafers, Copenhagen's best dressed have moved onto warm weather shoes, most notably the wedge, and in recent years it has evolved form a boho-inspired raffia shoe to a sleek and sophisticated day-to-night wonder. The last few weeks alone I've spotted patent, suede and animal print wedges cropping up in the collections of Scandi brands, but they always have an open toe and modest heel height in common.

4. Bucket Bags

Style Notes: While the fashion camps argue over tiny, micro baguettes versus ludicrously capacious totes, Scandi women have moved onto bucket bags. All the chic style of a smaller shoulder bag but with all of the practicality of a roomier top handle, bucket bags have been quietly climbing in popularity over the last couple of years, and with some recent releases from the likes of Versace, Dior and The Row, expect to see much more of bucket bags throughout the rest of this year (at least).

5. Sailor Collars

Style Notes: We've done Peter Pan, off-the-shoulder, turtlenecks, sweetheart, V-necks, and now it's time we had a new neckline and collar to talk about. Sailor collars are the latest way to draw attention to your décolletage, toeing the line between casual fit and smart tailoring. Whether on a pretty blouse or a chunky knit, these were a big hit during CPHFW, and Sézane's navy and white nautical inspired Claudio jumper immediately sold out during the brand's fashion week event and still hasn't managed to stay in stock.

6. Silk Shorts

Style Notes: Linen shorts are good and all, but there's something about the emerge of lingerie shorts that has our full attention. Lace trimmed, delicate and light, if you were wondering how to make such a skimpy short feel wearable, Danish women are grounding theirs with chunky knits up top for a look that suggests that you lounge around the house in pure silk and cashmere. Well, it beats a tracksuit.

While I definitely get excited to see the fashion month shows from the major houses, one of the things I look forward to the most every season are the up-and-coming brands. They’re the ones that usually leave me feeling the most inspired, from the unbridled collections to the shows that feel more like performance art. It's a special time to discover something new, whether it’s a familiar name continuing to challenge conventions or coming across a designer I haven’t heard of before.

This kind of discovery is one of my favorite parts of my work, and fashion month is the perfect time for it. As runways always do, this inevitably influences the ways we think about shopping for the season ahead.

For S/S 25, I wrote about the emerging designers that I loved at New York Fashion Week. This season, I'm expanding my focus to the entire F/W 26 fashion month calendar. Below, shop the designers that stood out to me on the latest runways across every city, from Copenhagen to Paris.

Fashion Month F/W 26 Emerging Designers

Brands to remember: Nicklas Skovgaard, OpéraSport, Caro Editions, Paolina Russo

Copenhagen Fashion Week consistently has some of the coolest brands in any market. This season, Nicklas Skovgaard, OpéraSport, Caro Editions, and Paolina Russo especially caught my eye. For me, Caro Editions truly epitomized the glamorous dressing trend, and it was one of the standout collections of the week. I’m also currently eyeing an OpéraSport baseball hat or bag for myself.

Brands to remember: Gabe Gordon, Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen, Mel Usine, Jane Wade, Colleen Allen, Pipenco

Living in New York, my hometown fashion week is, of course, New York Fashion Week. At Gabe Gordon, knitwear remains the signature, and there was a timely nod to ice skating as well. Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen’s post-show press release cited “pre-industrial pregnancy corsets, sanitary belts, and maternity wear” as references, with materials like secondhand linens and vintage nylon bringing that vision to life.

Mel Usine, which debuted this past spring, continued building on its foundation with a second collection drawing from historical research, French lore, and medieval dressing. And Jane Wade’s The Summit brought her workwear lens outdoors, leaning into performance and expedition wear, including a shoe collaboration with Sorel.

Others who left the biggest impression on me include Colleen Allen, who has become one of the most beloved names at NYFW for editors, and Pipenco, a one-of-a-kind fantastical line designed by Romanian designer Lorena Pipenco.

London Fashion Week truly might be my favorite part of the fashion month calendar. Beyond the household names like Burberry and Vivienne Westwood, I always love keeping up with the designers coming out of Central Saint Martins, along with the other emerging brands that show each season. For F/W 26, my top shows were Conner Ives, Chopova Lowena, Tolu Coker, Petra Fagerström, Pauline Dujancourt, and Lucila Safdie, many of which can be shopped at Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter, and Farfetch.

Brands to remember: Avavav, Florania, Institution by Galib Gassanoff, Casa Preti

I like seeing what Avavav does each Milan Fashion Week. The label consistently puts on theatrical (and often satirical) shows with an absurdist approach to design. Founded in Florence and now based in Stockholm, it’s become known for its tongue-in-cheek runway presentations, and this season was no different. Beyond that, Florania, Institution by Galib Gassanoff, and Casa Preti were also particularly memorable.

Along with LFW, Paris Fashion Week has my heart. Some of the highlights included baby blue tights at Julie Kegels, a makeshift bra made of teacups at Hodakova, jaw-dropping, over-the-top couture-inspired looks at Matières Fécales, and an unexpected twist on bridalwear (with a baby's breath bouquet) at Vaquera, as pictured above. In terms of incorporating these brands into my own wardrobe, Vaquera's Pretty Boy T-Shirt, which has a graphic of a Chihuahua (my favorite dog), is currently on my wish list.

Since returning from the whirlwind that was Copenhagen Fashion Week, I've been ruminating on all the wonderful things I saw, not only on the runways, but on the streets, too. The city has become a real hotbed for emerging trends and cutting-edge designers (hello, Anne Sofie Madsen, Nicklas Skovgaard and OpéraSport!), and being in the thick of it all was not only exciting but exceedingly eye-opening.

Sitting in the front row at the shows gives me unrivalled access to the runway trends in real time, but stepping outside and racing to the next event is also a real visual treat. Copenhagen is full of style mavericks, people pushing fashion boundaries and many an early adopter. And with those same people attending the shows, it's like art imitating life.

As an eagle-eyed stylist and savvy shopper, I've come away with a real hit list of hacks, styling ideas and clever ways to wear clothes and accessories now, which I'm banking on using for my own looks. And because I don't gatekeep, I thought it best to share them with you, too, dear reader. From doubling down on simple accessories to combining delicate and tough fabrics, monochromatic dressing and playing up pop colours, I've gathered seven genius styling hacks I spotted on both the runways and streets of Copenhagen.

The 7 Styling Hacks To Know From Copenhagen Fashion Week

1. Combine Leather and Lace

Style Notes: This pretty trend is set to dominate this spring, and the chicest dressers in Copenhagen have already caught on. Lace is the fabric and finish in question, but more interestingly, I saw it combined with glossy leather for a look equal parts soft and tough. Models walking for The Garment show wore classic tailored trousers, leather bomber jackets and sweet lace foulards tied around their shoulders, whilst at OpéraSport, I spotted a look consisting of a chocolate leather blazer, a white, lace-trimmed dress and bow-embellished pumps—just the kind of look I want to emulate this spring.

On the chilly streets, the best dressers mixed classic black leather outerwear, such as funnel-neck jackets and nipped-in blazers, with hints of bright white lace peeking out from underneath, or delicate stoles wrapped around their shoulders. This charming trend is easy to master: a trusty leather jacket combined with a delicately trimmed skirt, dress or scolloped scarf is the way to do it for spring.

2. Double Your Belts

Style Notes: I thought I was seeing double, and, as it turns out, I was. I couldn't help noticing this styling hack on both the runways and the bitter streets of the city, and not only is it elegant, but it's pretty practical too. Belts worn in pairs cinch knitwear, trousers, miniskirts and flowing gowns, giving a waisted fit and feel.

At Anne Sofie Madsen, two chunky brown leather belts nipped in a black, flowing, sleeveless gown, finished with a cosy fringe scarf and shearling Ugg boots. Over at Paolina Russo, school-uniform-like attire was subverted with low-slung waist belts in contrasting fabrics and colours, for a pop-punk look once pioneered by Avril Lavigne. Street-style stars took things up a notch, threading their double belts through winter-white denim and over the top of colour-pop cardis. Opt for belts in similar hues and cross them over or even double-tuck the ends, or, if you're feeling spicy, choose contrasting colours or textures.

3. Wear All Your White at Once

Style Notes: If you're a coffee drinker, scroll on now, as this vibe won't bode well for you. Copenhagen was giving serious blizzard at the start of the fashion week proceedings, and designers and street-style stars alike took note of the snowy hue that cascaded over the city. I spotted head-to-toe white looks outside every show, with fashion people matching their pillbox hats, capes, fur coats, trousers, skirts, tights, handbags and shoes in the tone Pantone is calling Cloud Dancer for 2026.

On the runways, Holzweiler and The Garment also provided palette cleansers, with frothy and ethereal layered looks all in similarly fresh and chalky hues. This styling technique is simple to imitate: pick all your items in the same colourless hue. Not only does it look extremely opulent, but it takes the mental gymnastics out of getting dressed in the morning.

4. Top It Off With a Chic Hat

Style Notes: I, for one, am already head over heels for this fashion hack, as it just adds a knowingly stylish finish to any look, and my love affair with a certain leopard-print number is already well documented. Trust me: topping your look with a chic hat, may that be a pillbox style, a shearling fisherman shape or a beret, will take your ensemble from zero to 100 in a heartbeat.

The streets of CPH were inundated with both minimalist and maximalist dressers alike, donning weird and wonderful headwear, significantly influenced by the sub-zero temperatures and the bitter winds that take over the Danish capital this time of year. Inside, away from the treacherous weather, designers such as OpéraSport, Rave Review, The Garment and Henrik Vibskov topped runway looks with artful felted hats, shearling designs, nylon beanies, aviator hats and fuzzy trappers, suitably equipped for the autumn/winter 2026 season. However, you can pinch this look now for the very present cold snap.

5. Clash Your Gloves

Style Notes: We've seen an uptick in all things hats, scarves and hosiery for several months, and so the next It item to undergo a style revival is the humble glove. The spring/summer 2026 shows were awash with them in bright colours, satin styles and elongated shapes, and this trend continues to ring true for autumn/winter on the streets and in the designer collections of Copenhagen. To level things up, however, the showgoers in CPH weren't going about their gauntlets gracefully. Instead, they opted for eye-popping colours and clashed them with other accessories to stunning effect.

Nicklas Skovgaard's paper-doll-like models wore pairs in kalidoscopic hues, with each model donning pop-colour, ruched leather gloves that were purposefully at odds with the pastel-toned, satin Hoff trainers. The Garment used cobalt-toned, long leather gloves in an ensemble which also featured zebra-print heeled pumps, for a striking evening look. On the cobbled streets, the sharpest of dressers picked opposing tones on the colour wheel for their gloves and corresponding accessories, favouring cool blues, teals, vibrant violets and royal purples to mix and match their accoutrements. The more clashing, the better!

6. Finish It All With a Statement Earring

Style Notes: Jewellery is always a fabulous finishing touch to a look, and can add a decadent shine to even the simplest of outfits. Good job, then, that I spotted an assortment of great earrings in Copenhagen, a city full of fine jewellery connoisseurs. Predominantly, I noticed silver as the hardware of choice, which gave an elegant, grown-up finish to both runway and street-style looks, possessing a minimalist mood. I spotted attendees adorned in tassel-drop earrings, as well as vintage-feeling square shapes, pairing exquisitely with pillbox hats and statement outerwear.

The designer collections also delivered the goods, tapping jewellery specialists to collaborate on adorning the models for their runways. Most notably, MKDT Studio worked with local jewellers Kinraden to create wearable works of art, such as molten drop earrings, single hoops and dome-like pendants, which swung singularly on the ear.

Herskind collaborated with New York-based jewellery brand Agmes on organic-shaped earrings, mariner link pieces, oversized singular hoop structures and petal-like forms, worn with silver cuffs and pendant necklaces. Take note: silver is the precious metal du jour, but keep it pared-back, simple and chic so as to not overpower it.

7. Toss Your Scarf Backwards

Style Notes: Sometimes, the most effortless of styling hacks is using something totally innocuous and wearing it in an entirely fresh way. Take the scarf. I have seen a steep rise in oversized styles, which are being thrown over shoulders backwards to resemble capes, adding serious drama points to a look.

Both on the icy streets and in the hallowed halls of showspaces, models and influencers alike wore XXL scarves over floor-skimming outerwear and jackets, not only protecting them from the elements, but adding serious swish factor. Plaid checks, fringed football scarves, shearling stoles and even sultry lengths of glossy leather were the fabrics of choice for the autumn/winter 2026 season, and what’s more, the styling options are limitless. Take any scarf, old or new, and have fun with it. Over the shoulder smoulder, optional.

Copenhagen Fashion Week's fall/winter 2026 season once again proved that the Danish city more than holds its own alongside Paris and Milan—not by mimicking them but by offering a distinctly Scandi point of view that feels fun, optimistic, and irreverent. It’s the rare fashion week where wearability and creativity genuinely coexist.

This season, that balance showed up across four clear runway themes, starting with artful, inventive layering that felt fantastically fresh. It's no surprise, then, that Denmark's high-energy event has earned a worldwide fan base. Gestuz, for instance, counts Hailey Bieber as one of its many well-dressed customers. 1. Layer Like You Mean It

If wearing a collared shirt under a simple sweater is your idea of layering, it's time to broaden your horizons. This season, Copenhagen Fashion Week brands displayed unexpected and inventive ways to add texture and depth to your outfits. Aiayu went for a more-is-more approach with layered sweaters, OperáSport added a hint of lace at the waist, and MKDT Studio showed off an artfully arranged cape.

Notice how the two tied sweaters are knotted on different sides: one at the model's left shoulder and one at her right hip.

This pretty white lace fabric at OperáSport broke up the monotony of brown separates.

At MKDT Studio, a cape emerged from one side of a double-breasted blazer.

2. Channel Countryside Kate Middleton

Not that I've ever been invited to an English country manor, but I watched enough episodes of The Crown to know what the dress code calls for. For fall 2026, Scandi brands channeled the Princess of Wales with a smattering of plaids, cable-knits, riding boots, and cozy vests.

You can't tell me Kate Middleton doesn't own this exact Skall Studio outfit.

MKDT Studio's posh plaid vest would look right at home in the stables at Balmoral.

Baum und Pferdgarten also experimented with plaid this season.

3. Rethink the Peplum

As you're probably well aware, peplums were last popular circa 2011. A decade and a half later, the trend has been thoroughly reimagined. Instead of traditional peplum blouses, brands at Copenhagen Fashion Week this season presented skirts and pants topped with the familiar ruffled silhouette.

Peplum pants will be trending this fall if Nicklas Skovgaard has anything to say about it.

At OperáSport, simple navy trousers were elevated by frilly white lace.

4. Let Stoles Steal Your Heart

Furry stoles sat atop many F/W 26 runway looks in the Danish capital. A warm and cozy addition to any outfit, this is one of those trends that's as practical as it is stylish. Instead of investing in another wool scarf, why not try this elegant Scandi-approved trend?

At Gestuz, a furry stole perfectly complemented this '70s-inspired maxi dress.

As The Garment demonstrated above, this soft and stylish accessory is always a good idea.

Baum und Pferdgarten's monochrome outfit was anything but boring thanks to the addition of a chic stole.

There's just something about Copenhagen at this time of year. Maybe it's the snow, the waft of freshly baked cardamom pastries, the all-round hygge vibes or the historic, colourful canal-side buildings. It may also be the progressive fashion scene, full of emerging labels that are firmly placing the Danish capital on the global style map, and this year, it celebrates 20 years of hosting its twice-yearly fashion week.

Wanting to check out the latter for myself, I took a trip to the city to see what all the fuss is about. London, Paris, Milan and New York are all synonymous with the fashion month sphere, but Copenhagen is demanding a seat at the table too, and home-grown brands such as Baum und Pferdgarten, Anne Sofie Madsen, and OpéraSport are showing us why. Forgoing the pomp, polish and pretentiousness that the traditional fashion circuit can sometimes possess, the labels of CPH are far more experimental, unconventional and just plain fun. There's also a real wearability to the clothes, shoes and accessories coming off the runways here, as well as a sense of joy, craft and forward-thinking, low-impact design.

Observing the shows in person is always a true pleasure, but what I indulge in the most is digesting all the runway snaps and deciphering which key styles, pieces and trends I believe will come to the fore next season. And, my oh my, did Copenhagen deliver. 1. All the Fur Trimmings

Style Notes: This tactile, decadent finish has been rising in the style stakes for some time, due to its luxe-looking appeal and the cosy warmth it brings. It has, without a doubt, dominated street-style trends, mostly in the way of coats and jackets, but for next winter, CPH designers are backing it in a much more detail-oriented and pared-back way. At Baum und Pferdgarten, plush brown fur stoles tied with black ribbon were worn off-kilter on the shoulders, adding a fuzzy finish to double denim and all-out leather looks, as well as floor-length velvet gowns. Over at OpéraSport, sultry off-the-shoulder evening tops were trimmed at the decollatage with matching black faux fur, and some outfits were topped with fur pillbox hats in corresponding tones.

At the immersive cocktail party runway of Gestuz, fur was everywhere, but most notably on scarves, capes, snoods, and even on the trims of leather pencil skirts (chic!). Studio Constance is famed for its shearling and leather pieces, so I was not surprised to see oversized collars and cuffs adorned with curly fur edging, as well as skirts and even kitten-heeled shoes. Proving its versatility, fur, and all of its fluffy iterations, showed just how expertly it pairs with denim, leather, velvet and tailoring, adding that soft, fluffy feel that we all gravitate towards, adding a wealth-whispering undertone to late-night ensembles.

2. Off-Kilter Knitwear

Style Notes: Checkered cardigans, layered polo shirts, knitted dresses, oversized V-neck sweaters, asymmetric jumpers: you name it, I saw it in Copenhagen. Some of CPH Fashion Week's most subversive brands toyed with wool and knitted garments, giving them a girlish, sporty or artful spin for A/W 26. The technicolour heroine at Paolina Russo reached for bodycon or ultra-cropped cardis with an intarsia Battenberg-cake pattern, or argyle sweater vests emblazoned with Girl Scout badges.

At the Sson presentation, fine-knit V-neck sweaters were bunched up and layered with pastel-toned polos, or worn at the waist to resemble skirts. For OpéraSport, merino ribbed cardigans followed the form of the wearer, utilising wavy hem lines and lace sectioning in the hottest shades of now (hello, chartreuse, royal purple and powder pink!).

Holzweiler, the Oslo-based brand known for down jackets, ski and snow gear, as well as knitwear, doubled down on tactile knits this season, with oversized fuzzy mohair jumpers, XXL skinny knitted scarves in pop colours, layered polos in primary hues, and, my favourite, a double chenille extravanganza, made up of not one, but two softly blurred and striped polo shirts to form an almost dress-like look, which was finished with a matching skinny scarf. Whatever you do with your knitwear next season, make sure it's weird, wonderful and a little bit off-kilter.

Style Notes: Next season, the most discerning labels of Copenhagen are encouraging us to touch grass, or even get a little bit green-fingered. I denoted a swathe of looks which looked primed and ready for pruning prize-winning rose bushes, and with street-style maverick Jennifer Lawrence often spotted in a rubber slip-on gardening shoe for her off-duty looks, I can't help but think this trend is the new evergreen mood.

Skall Studio looked to Danish novelist Karen Blixen, inspired by both her poetry and knack for floristry, cultivating looks with real-flower corsages, knitted gloves, gum boots, heavy-duty denim, lace-trimmed prairie blouses and woven baskets for collecting cuttings. At Anne Sofie Madsen, outdoor-friendly Ugg boots and sandals were aplenty, with fringed flannel dresses resembling picnic blankets, plus heavy-duty duffle coats, shearling jackets and a recurring rose motif digging out the horticulturist in all of us.

Back at Baum und Pferdgarten, the most charming looks featured leather head scarves, apt for keeping wafts of hair at bay when busy weeding, plus a flurry of floral prints and plaid checks, ripstop two-pieces and a violet-hued barn jacket. Lastly, Aiayu drew its colour palette from the soft, organic hues found in nature, such as washed rose, undyed ecru, earthy khaki and even a rich French blue, using them across recycled silks, fine wools, and relaxed knitwear for a look which would give Monty Don a run for his money. Don't let this trend lead you down the garden path: the botanical-buff look is here to stay, and may just be perennial.

The grown-up evening looks at Forza used block-colour tights for an expected note, with hues such as cool, icy blue and even pillar-box red tinting the legs of models in billowing gowns and skirts. Lastly, at Baum und Pferdgarten, purple-toned tights finished a similarly toned look for a head-to-toe Violet Beauregarde-approved ensemble.

Style Notes: Here at Who What Wear UK, we have been craving all things lace, tasseled and pendant-emblazoned lately, and believe these finishing touches can take an otherwise simple outfit and make it look exceedingly expensive. Next up on our antique-feeling agenda, as verified by the most decadent of designers, is something that pulls from the world of interiors. Holzweiler's sheer dresses, skirts and shirts were layered playfully, and came in colour-pop hues for a breathable, light and polished look, with semi-transparent glass handbags amplifying the sheer effect. Last but not least, Paolina Russo's models wore demi-sheer sports jerseys, worn with her pastel knitwear and hosiery for a dynamic and multifaceted finish. Sheer genius!

I just got back from Copenhagen Fashion Week, and let’s just say my suitcase was definitely overweight—but totally worth it. Twice a year, like clockwork, I make the pilgrimage to the Danish capital, and every time, I manage to fall even deeper in love with the city's effortlessly cool, slightly offbeat, always-chic sense of style.

Of course, fashion week is the main event. But the real magic? It happens in the shops. Copenhagen is basically my version of a fashion playground, and at this point, I have a running list of stores I hit the second I land. From the iconic Danish hair accessories brand behind those viral Scandi scrunchies to one of my all-time favorite local jewelry labels with a flagship so dreamy, I might just move in, my retail hit list is long, expansive, but truly worth it. Although there are several stores I visit without fail, the beauty of Copenhagen is also in walking around and seeing what you stumble upon while exploring. If I don't have a specific store in mind, I love going to Jægersborggade and Nørrebrogade, both cool streets filled with locally owned boutiques and curated storefronts in Nørrebro.

So, if you're planning a trip (or just want to window-shop), these are the eight ultra-cool Scandi shops I beeline to every season. Trust me—your wardrobe (and your Instagram feed) will thank you.

Pico Store

Address: Grønnegade 36, København 1107

Pico Store is perhaps one of the most photographed boutiques in all of Copenhagen. Any It girl's photo dump of her adventures in the city isn't complete without a picture of Pico's rows and cabinets filled with whimsical hair clips, bedazzled barrettes, and rose-shaped claw clips. Although the Danish brand also carries jewelry and socks, Pico Store is most well-known for its hair accessories that come in various shapes and sizes, the perfect accoutrement for any outfit.

Lié Studio

Address: Vognmagergade 9, 1120 København K, Denmark

LIÉ Studio, which was founded by models and twins Amalie and Cecilie Moosgaard, is one of the prettiest stores in all of Copenhagen, in my opinion. It was designed in collaboration with Danish architect Julius Nielsen, the brand's small-but-mighty flagship feels like stepping into the personal jewelry box of the Moosgaard sisters. Dark wood, light florals, and a plush Ottoman rug are the centerpieces of the space, with a custom-built armoire built to showcase each of the brand's necklaces, earrings, and rings.

New Mags

Address: Ny Østergade 28, 1101 København, Denmark

For a taste of classic New York newsstands and cool girl bookstores, look no further than New Mags, a curated literary space located in the backstreets of Copenhagen's busy shopping district. In here, you'll find international travel guides, grade-A photographed cookbooks, art zines, and, as its name suggests, dozens of magazine titles. New Mags is perfect coffee table book fodder—just don't forget to pick up one of the brand's classic baseball hats or oversize totes, which you'll find on stylish people all over Copenhagen. Even the merch is cool!

Studio Arhoj

Address: Skindergade 7, ST, 1159 København, Denmark

Pottery lovers, rejoice. In a city well-renowned for its culinary scene, handmade mugs, plates, and bowls are sure to follow—if not for eating, then for colorful photo dumps. Enter Studio Arhoj, a kitschy pottery and glassblowing studio that's become a must-go if you're into art and design. The storefront is an open concept studio, meaning you can see the team working behind the register, glazing oversize mugs and blowing small glass trinkets to put on your desk. Over the years, I've accumulated over 10+ pieces of its dishware, each one a prized possession in my kitchen cabinet.

By Malene Birger is one of the touch points of Danish style: minimal, elegant, and refined. That said, it's no surprise that the brand's flagship store is a physical manifestation of the design principles designer Malene Birger has worked hard to perfect over the years. The boutique, conceptualized by Milan-based firm Dimore Studio, also invites press and friends of the house over during fashion week for intimate dinners and brand events, creating a living, breathing extension of the design studio itself. Besides the dreamy, warm, '70s-style accents found throughout the store, recent collections are merchandized in a way that makes every item irresistible, much to the chagrin of my credit card bill.

Naked Copenhagen

Address: Regnegade 2, 1110 København, Denmark

Copenhagen's answer to the Kith? Meet Naked, a concept store filled with hard-to-get sneakers, fresh streetwear, and trendy sunglasses. Naked is practically an institution among the fashion scene in Copenhagen (and, perhaps, the reason everyone now in the United States wears colorful "Scandi" style sneakers), often opening up its shop for pop-up events and collaborations with major sneaker brands like Adidas or Salmon. Naked is the reason I've been able to get my hands on a few pairs of hyped sneakers in the United States without having to shell out thousands on the secondhand market. If you're on the hunt for a pair of colorful Adidas Gazelles, look no further.

HAY House

Address: Østergade 61, 2, 1100 København, Denmark

Colorful interiors lovers, meet your match. The flagship of the Danish interiors brand Hay isn't to be missed if you're in Copenhagen. The Hay House is a sprawling four-story flagship has everything you could imagine from the beloved brand: tote bags, candles, sofas, coffee table books, and storage units, each with a colorful Scandi flair. Although I haven't bought furniture to bring back just yet, I always stop by Hay House when in Denmark to stock up on my favorite candlesticks I light while hosting.

Collector's Cage

Address: Amagertorv 31, 1160 København K, Denmark

When shopping for vintage luxury handbags, I've always been hesistant to buy things online, preferring instead to pick things up and inspect them IRL. While there's dozens of vintage and consignment stores in Copenhagen, I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Collector's Cage. As a handbag lover, I find myself getting lost in the store's dreamy aisles of currated, well-loved secondhand bags. Whether it's colorful Balenciaga City Bags or a rare John Galliano–era Dior Saddle Bag, I've been able to find some holy grails and inspect them up close at the brand's store in the heart of Copenhagen.

When it comes to design, Scandinavia has long been celebrated for its clean lines, thoughtful craftsmanship, and timeless aesthetic—qualities that have earned it a reputation as a revered place in the world of interior design and beyond. But in recent years, a quietly powerful shift has been reshaping not just how spaces are curated but how people dress, with women at the helm. Nowhere is this shift more evident than in Denmark’s fashion scene, where female designers are redefining what it means to design from a woman’s perspective—and the results are turning heads globally.

At CIFF, the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, the energy is electric. It’s here that the world sees the fresh, nuanced female perspective of Danish design—a perspective that embraces versatility, authenticity, and a fluid sense of femininity. Unlike much of the global luxury fashion landscape, where male creative directors still dominate, Scandinavia’s fashion scene is led largely by women, and their influence is palpable. These aren’t just clothes; they’re statements of identity and freedom, designed with a deep understanding of how women actually live and move.

"At CIFF, we see it as part of our responsibility to provide visibility and opportunity for female designers—whether they are just starting out or already established voices," explains Sofie Dolva, CEO of CIFF. The brand often works in partnership with up-and-coming designers as part of their NEWTALENT program, aimed at not only elevating emerging Scandinavian designers to the forefront, but pushing for their long-term development. "By putting female perspectives on the same stage as global heritage houses, we’re making sure they are part of the international conversation while staying true to the values of Scandinavian design."

Walking through CIFF this season, I felt the shift firsthand—the female perspective isn’t just influencing Danish fashion; it’s transforming the industry from the inside out. "The fashion industry has historically been powered by women—both creatively and commercially— and at CIFF we aim to honor that legacy while ensuring the next generation of female talent has the visibility and support to thrive globally," Dolva adds. From mother-daughter duos to female creative directors revitalizing male-founded brands, these designers are reshaping how women dress in Scandinavia. Pay close attention.

Since launching Gestuz in 2008, founder Sanne Sehested has approached design with a clear intention: to create clothing that empowers women instead of overshadowing them. “I wanted to create designs that emphasize the strength of women rather than overshadow,” she says. Inspired by a wardrobe full of vintage pieces and a keen sense for balancing masculine and feminine elements, Sehested shaped a brand that reflects the rich complexity of real women’s lives. “My Gestuz muse is not one thing or one size or one age. She is full of contrast and wants her wardrobe to express that,” she explains.

Whether it’s a sharp leather suit or a soft, flowing dress, every collection is influenced by her all-female team and their lived experiences, rooted in the idea that femininity is fluid and self-defined. “You can be a powerful businesswoman while wearing a draped dress, or a soft, caring mother in a leather suit with giant shoulder pads,” Sanne adds. Through Gestuz, she offers a distinctly Danish vision of womanhood—one that celebrates experimentation, duality, and the freedom to take up space however you want.

The term "designing from the female perspective" can mean many things. How do you interpret that idea, and how is it reflected in the way you build a collection?

I always want to explore the contrasts of femininity and masculinity in our collections. For me it is about creating pieces that I and my team would actually wear. I love the sharp suits and heavy denim. The edgy leather. But I also want to show the softer, slower, flowing qualities. Those that might be undermined or left behind but create a much more interesting journey when combined.

Is there a particular moment or story that’s helped shape the way you think about what women actually want to wear?

Simply following the sartorial year of the many different women in my team is one of my main tools. We have women across the spectrum, from more traditional feminine outfits to ladies with a party heart to the very androgynous dresser. And seeing what they wear, how they wear our pieces, what problems they face with their wardrobe in summer versus winter, what they always reach for on Mondays when they need to feel good fast. That is where the magic happens.

Let’s talk about your S/S 26 collection. What themes or ideas are you exploring this season, and how does it speak to the modern woman you're designing for?

The spring/summer 2026 show explores tension and duality, movement and pause. Draped silhouettes echo the curves of speed; flowing dresses in motion like cars rounding corners. The collection explores the contrasts of femininity and masculinity, stillness and movement, occasion wear and workwear.

Drawing discrete inspiration from vintage racing culture, elements from utility wear are embraced: worn leather, matching suits, heavy denim, a cropped bomber jacket with clear nods to classic workwear silhouettes and reminiscent of vintage mechanic jackets or aviator bombers. Images from the '70s and '80s era of Formula One and Le Mans filled our mood boards. A lot of pictures of Marie-Claude Charmasson, who was a French journalist and race-car driver, were part of our initial inspiration. She is ultra glamorous with this bright blonde hair, and in many of the pictures of her, she is wearing a white boilersuit and her baby-blue helmet. She is also often seen with some vivid red elements, and that color combination really inspired us.

Has your definition of femininity evolved since launching your brand? Reflecting upon that, how do you think that evolution shows up in your silhouettes, materials, or styling?

In reality, femininity is whatever you choose it to be. And with this collection, it might be easy to point at the floor-length pink dress and think that is our take on the feminine. But what we tried to showcase was that power can come in whatever shape works for you. Not just a suit with big shoulders or a badass leather jacket, but also in the softer, quieter pieces. And that embracing that softness—integrating it into the fast pace of our lives—is a really strong statement.

It is not about gender but about discovery, experimentation, telling a story, and emphasizing the areas that feel right to you. It’s about flowing between masculine and feminine without having to consider what society deems “strong.” That you can be a powerful businesswoman while wearing a draped dress or a soft caring mother while wearing a leather suit with giant shoulder pads. Feminine and sensual, masculine and grounded, changing between the two like shifting gears.

Shop Gestuz

At Herskind, designing from the female perspective isn’t just a concept—it’s part of everyday life. Founded in 2018 by mother-daughter duo Birgitte and Andrea Herskind, the brand has always been rooted in both craftsmanship and a deep understanding of what modern women actually want from their wardrobes. “Herskind is a brand created by women, for women,” they explain. With a nearly all-female team and a shared belief in clothing as a form of self-expression, their process feels both personal and purposeful.

“We admire women in 2025 and all the complexity they bring to the table,” they note. That respect shows up in the pieces themselves—versatile silhouettes, timeless textures, and garments designed to move with the rhythm of real life. “We believe in power not just in loud or bold ways, but also in the quiet strength of care, presence, and authenticity,” they say. Whether through subtle tailoring or easy, flowing lines, Herskind’s vision is rooted in reality—helping women show up in the world exactly as they are, and feel good doing it.

Is there a particular moment or story that’s helped shape the way you think about what women actually want to wear

Over the past 10 years, we’ve seen a shift in how women express themselves—especially here in Denmark, where there’s growing focus on individuality and presence in all areas of life. We believe women deserve clothing that is both thoughtfully designed and comfortable to wear—pieces that work with their lifestyle and allow them to show up as their truest selves, whatever that looks like.

Let’s talk about your S/S 26 collection. What themes or ideas are you exploring this season, and how does it speak to the modern woman you're designing for?

This season, Birgitte focused on versatility. Many of our S/S 26 pieces are designed to be styled in multiple ways. We have shirts that can be tied and buttoned differently, adjustable blazers, and dresses that can go from beachwear to evening wear. It’s all about giving women the freedom to adapt their wardrobe to their mood, schedule, or occasion—without having to compromise on style or comfort.

Has your definition of femininity evolved since launching your brand? Reflecting upon that, how do you think that evolution shows up in your silhouettes, materials, or styling?

Absolutely. We feel there’s a growing return to softer, more grounded values—perhaps as a response to everything going on in the world. We admire women deeply and believe in their power, not just in loud or bold ways, but also in the quiet strength of care, presence, and authenticity. That belief naturally finds its way into our collections—whether through our use of flowing silhouettes, subtle tailoring, or gentle textures.

What kind of woman do you envision wearing your S/S 26 collection? Is there a particular mood or message you hope she embodies on the runway—and beyond?

As mentioned, we’re big believers in celebrating all aspects of the female identity. What we’re seeing now is a beautiful shift: where power isn’t just defined by boldness, but also by softness, elegance, and being unapologetically oneself. Our S/S 26 collection and runway show are a tribute to that shift—and to all the multifaceted women out there. The woman we design for embraces her complexity and dresses to reflect every side of who she is.

Shop Herskind

At MKDT Studio, femininity isn’t defined by contrast but by connection. Since its founding in 2014, the brand has stayed true to a quiet, intentional design ethos. With Creative Director Caroline Engelgaar now at the helm, that vision has become even more grounded in a woman’s understanding of how other women live, move, and dress. “When you're a woman designing for women, you inherently understand their needs,” Engelgaar reflects. “The modern woman is constantly in motion; she thinks practically, but she dresses for herself.” That insight is woven into every collection, where classic tailoring is updated with subtle, thoughtful twists—undone seams, sculptural silhouettes, and an understated sensuality. “It’s about building a well-curated wardrobe,” she explains. “Less is more, but always with room for something exceptional.”

For S/S 26, that idea comes to life in a lineup of fluid, purposeful pieces designed to evolve with the wearer throughout her day. Over time, MKDT Studio's take on femininity has shifted—from borrowing from menswear to softening it, reinterpreting it, and even lending it back. The result is a distinctly Scandinavian sensibility: functional, poetic, and always inspired by real women.

How would you describe your design philosophy when it comes to dressing women today? Are there specific needs, moods, or shifts in lifestyle that guide your approach?

It's about simplicity and wearability. We believe in building a concise, well-curated wardrobe, where every piece is thoughtfully designed, well-fitted, and crafted in quality fabrics. Less is more, but always with room for something exceptional, something crafted.

The term "designing from the female perspective" can mean many things. How do you interpret that idea, and how is it reflected in the way you build a collection?

When you're a woman designing for women, you inherently understand their needs—how they move, how they live, and how they want to feel in their clothes. The modern woman is constantly in motion; she thinks practically, but she dresses for herself. That perspective guides everything—from construction to styling.

Let's talk about your S/S 26 collection. How does it speak to the modern woman you're designing for?

S/S 26 is all about fluidity—moving seamlessly from utility to atelier. With just a few essential pieces, the modern woman can effortlessly transform her look. It's a reflection of today's mindset: a smaller, more purposeful wardrobe that still offers range and personality. Our beloved tailored silhouettes remain at the core—based around structured blazers, sculptural trousers, and fitted dresses. Still polished, but slightly off. Uncut threads. Disproportioned belt buckles. Seams that open to uncover the body.

What kind of woman do you envision wearing your S/S 26 collection? Is there a particular mood or message you hope she embodies on the runway—and beyond?

She's ageless. She knows how to dress, she values fit, quality, and subtle individuality. She's not dressing to be seen but to express something about herself. In a world where practicality often dominates, there's still room to dream. And clothing, even the most functional, can still hold poetry.

If you told me three seasons ago that I'd be packing my life into a carry-on and hopping over to Copenhagen again—all in the name of fashion—I probably wouldn't have believed you. It's always been my dream to attend Copenhagen Fashion Week and, thankfully, here I am, back again for round three. This time, I went with CIFF (the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair), one of Europe’s largest and most influential trade shows. Think a buzzing hub where buyers, editors, and creatives come together to discover the next big thing—and yes, there’s plenty of Scandi style inspo to go around. CIFF is where the magic happens behind the runway: emerging labels, established names, and unexpected gems all under one very stylish roof. It meant less sleep, more designer meetings, and a front-row seat to the creative energy that makes this city one of the coolest fashion capitals around.

There’s something about this city that just gets it right. Maybe it’s the perfectly oversize outfits or maybe it’s the cardamom buns. (To be honest, it's probably both.) Either way, I spent the week zigzagging from shows to showrooms, dodging bikes like a local, and snapping way too many 'fit pics along the way.

What follows is a completely unfiltered, mildly chaotic, highly stylish diary of my time at Copenhagen Fashion Week and CIFF—aka, a photo dump with commentary. From outfit changes in questionable locations to late-night dinner spots that actually lived up to the hype, here’s everything I saw, wore, ate, and mildly obsessed over.

DAY 1: Wine, Polka Dots, and Carry-On Outfits

2 p.m.: After landing in Copenhagen in the middle of the afternoon, I did what any other jet-lagged editor would do: take a nap. Did I miss a show? Maybe. Did I barely pull a look together? Perhaps! But, in my opinion, a well-rested editor is a happy one, so I was grateful to have the afternoon to myself to unpack, unwind, and catch up on work before the madness began.

8 p.m.: Off to the Caro Editions show! This season, the show focused on the love story between founders Caroline and Frederik Bille Brahe, who got married a few short months ago under the bridge where the show took place. In typical Caro Editions style, the playlist was filled with bangers, there were plenty of polka dots, and the footwear stole the show. This season, the brand collaborated with New Balance on taupe-colored, suede 204L sneakers adorned with charms and bows.

9 p.m.: Not to be cheesy, but it's wine o'clock somewhere. Guests were ferried to Apollo Bar after the Caro Editions show for an after-party co-hosted by Mulberry, who loaned handbags and leather goods for the show. Apollo Bar's expansive open courtyard is one of my favorite places to grab a drink in between shows during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Plus, there was a literal wedding cake, on theme to celebrate the couple's recent nupitals.

11 p.m.: I'm not sure how I did it, but my friends and I managed to stay up way past our bedtimes to grab a late-night meal at Cleo, a cozy gastro wine bar in Nørrebro. If you go, you simply can't miss the white chocolate–flavored ice cream.

DAY 2: The "Coachella" of Trade Shows and Martini Olives

9 a.m.: By far, one of the best moments of being in Copenhagen during Fashion Week is spending my mornings at CIFF, the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair. As an editor whose inbox is always perpetually at 500 no matter how many times I clear it, I'm constantly overstimulated with new brands, pitches, and ideas. The best way I've found to discover hidden gems is by going in person to meet founders, hear their stories, and try their products firsthand. Given how influential CIFF is in the Nordics (the organization hosts over 1000 brands twice a year!), I usually budget a solid three hours to explore and stumble upon smaller brands I would have never gotten the chance to meet if it weren't for CIFF. PleatsMama, Rave Review, and Rue de Tokyo were all brands I got to stop by and meet.

12 p.m.: I caught a cab from the Bella Center, where CIFF takes place, to the city center for an appointment with Lié Studio, the Danish jewelry company founded by models, muses, and twins Amalie and Cecilie Moosgaard. This season, the brand focused on subtle, '80s elements for its fall launch. I'm a big fan of the brand's leather goods, though, and picked up a teal-colored pebbled-leather bucket bag that would later become the backbone of every outfit I wore while in Copenhagen.

3 p.m.: A few American editors and I headed in-synch to the Danish Design Museum, the show venue for acclaimed Scandi brand Skall. Skall is always such a treat to see, with its feminine fabrics and airy silhouettes becoming true closet heroes for me. I was particularly enamored by the abundance of tassels and corded belts used when styling the looks, a nod to the brand's choice to work with beloved jewelry brand Le Sundial for its show. Although I didn't manage to get a tassel belt for myself during Le Sundial's pop-up at the Skall boutique in Copenhagen, I'm confident some of the styling tricks from this show are going to carry over into my fall outfits.

6 p.m.: Work hard, play hard. To end my first full day of Copenhagen Fashion Week, New York–based brand Sea hosted a dinner with tastemakers and friends of the brand to celebrate the label's new pop-up that opened in Copenhagen. Olives were eaten, gossip was shared, and rhubarb spritzes were drank in a sun-drenched pavilion in King's Garden. There's nothing quite as life-changing as a late-summer dinner in Copenhagen, with the sun barely setting below the horizon as we went late into the night.

DAY 3: Show Clothes and Show Ponies

10 a.m: After an early morning dip in the Copenhagen canals (true story!), I jetted off to the Anonymous Copenhagen brunch to chat with the brand's founders and get a sneak peek at the new styles. The brand is quintessentially Scandi, elegant, sustainable, and just the slightest bit playful, as seen by the textures in its shoes and the silhouettes the brand produces. (The heart pumps are a favorite!)

11 a.m.: There's always one day that Copenhagen Fashion Week is giving the same energy Lady Gaga does in that infamous video of her: bus, club, another club, another club, plane, next place. The morning began with two shows, Herskind and The Garment, both incredibly elegant and timeless. They're the kind of clothes you'd imagine a cool, elder sister who has her life together would wear. They're also some of the most anticipated shows of the season, so the crowd (and, by extension, their camera crews) were all buzzing, ready for the action.

2 p.m.: After grabbing a bite to eat at Sonny, I stopped by the Atelier September x New Balance pop-up in Nytorv. One of the things I love most about the spirit of Copenhagen Fashion Week is that some, if not most, events are open for the public, and this was one of them. Both editors, influencers, and tourists alike could come in and grab a tomato-infused drink or pastry while browsing the lookbook with the latest New Balance 204L sneaker. It was the perfect appetizer for the MKDT Studio show, which I jetted to immediately after.

5 p.m.: Copenhagen! Wine! Jewelry! What's not to like? A cheeky summer aperitivo, hosted by Lié Studio, broke up the madness when running from show to show. If you closed your eyes, it almost felt like New York—a small, but mighty, block party on one of Copenhagen's busiest streets felt like the hottest club to be in at the time.

6 p.m.: Although I was fashionably late to the Gestuz show, I made it to my seat with moments to spare. I always love seeing what founder Sanne Sehested imagines in her world. Gestuz simply oozes strong femininity, and this season was no different: models walked down in leather racing jackets, fiery hues, and sky-high white pumps. By the time the show finished, I didn't even have time to properly pore over the images, since I was running to catch the bus to the next show, Baum und Pferdgarten, held in a small town about 30 minutes outside of Copenhagen. The collection felt aptly equestrian themed given the invitation and show location, a horse stable. While chatting with press manager Benjamin Rønnow, the day prior, I asked if any horses would make a special appearance on the runway. Spoiler alert: They did. We won!

9 p.m.: I ended the night by heading to SoHo House for the CIFF dinner, one of the week's highlights in my book. The team usually sits you next to people you don't know, and while it might be intimidating, I'm a chronic oversharer, which often means I'll strike up a conversation with anyone. The night ended with several inside jokes, a dance session into the early hours of the morning, and questions on how to properly style a top hat.

DAY 4: Anniversary Collections and Legendary Meals

10 a.m.: The morning began with several press appointments at Stine Goya, Ragbag, and Tekla, all brands near and dear to my heart. For many press teams, it was the first time I got to see them since I got engaged, so it was incredible getting to catch up, as well as getting to see the new collections. At Stine Goya, the brand collaborated with File Under Pop, a creative surface design brand (think room paints and kitchen tiles), for a collection themed around countryside guest houses and hosting.

1 p.m.: One of my most anticipated collections of the season was Birrot, a Copenhagen-based label with South Korean influences. While I wasn't able to make it last season, I'd heard the murmurs about how impeccable the styling was, and it's safe to say the brand's spring 2026 collection didn't disappoint. Sporty jackets, genie pants, and a muted color palette (with pops of pink!) set the stage for a well-dressed spring to come.

4 p.m.: Cecilie Bahnsen is back, baby. For its 10-year anniversary, the brand showed a charming, retrospective collection built upon the house codes for the Danish brand: girly, flowers, and princess-like silhouettes remixed with technical elements. There were fireworks, wine, and an appearance by model Ísadóra Bjarkardóttir Barney, daughter of Icelandic musician Björk. Monastery, one of my favorite botanical beauty brands, provided skincare prep for models.

9 p.m.: To celebrate the end of fashion week, my friends and I always head to one of our favorite restaurants in the city, Esmée, to mark the end of a fashion-filled four days. I discovered the city hot spot a few seasons back after senior editor Anna LaPlaca included it in her Copenhagen City Guide, and I haven't looked back since. Fin!

I’m not sure if this makes me a bad fashion editor, but I’ll admit it: I often take more inspiration from the crowd gathered outside a fashion week venue than from the runway itself. And truthfully? I never feel bad about it. Street style is, after all, where the most wearable looks are spotted; it’s where we see trends in lived-in interpretations that are instantly adaptable to real life.

During last week's Copenhagen Fashion Week, the runways delivered a varied blend of Scandi minimalism and playful eccentricity, but the real magic for me was happening on the pavement. As I sifted through the hundreds of street style images post-shows, one detail kept jumping out as a unifying element threading through some of the week’s most stylish ensembles.

From zebra stripes to leopard spots, glossy snakeskin to painterly cowhide, animal-print shoes were everywhere. Heels, boots, mules and loafers; Copenhagen’s style set wore them all, and they wore them well. The city’s most fashion-forward guests trotted between shows in pairs that offered a wink of wildness to otherwise refined outfits.

Spotted in a myriad of outfits, I often saw the trend styled with relaxed denim, when animal prints add a playful pop without overpowering. Paired with breezy dresses, cotton skirts or even micro shorts, they inject a little energy into every step. Whilst leopard print might have been last year’s favourite, the scope has widened, and we're embracing the entire animal kingdom.

Animal print might feel daunting to some, but I find that it's far more approachable in shoe form than head-to-toe prints. A classic pair of zebra-print slingbacks can liven up a neutral outfit, whilst snake-effect boots bring texture to a monochrome look. Even the boldest cow-print loafers feel grounded when the colour palette sticks to blacks, browns and creams.

With autumn on the horizon, this trend has come at the perfect time, looking all the more at home with richer items like chunky knits, wide-leg trousers and big, snuggly coats.

Today, Copenhagen Fashion Week sits firmly among the industry's must-attend events, attracting a roster of editors, celebrities, buyers, and influencers from around the world. For spring/summer 2026, for instance, veteran Vogue editor Tonne Goodman was among the high-profile names sitting front row, and Pamela Anderson came to town for an exclusive dinner party.

What makes Copenhagen's lineup so compelling is its ability to balance discovery and familiarity. Emerging talents such as Freya Dalsjø and Anne Sofie Madsen share the stage with established brands like Baum und Pferdgarten and Cecilie Bahnsen. This dynamic lineup allows fans to uncover up-and-coming labels and see what their tried-and-true favorites are going to be selling. So what did everyone have up their sleeves for spring/summer 2026? Scandi brands love a good sartorial juxtaposition. For spring/summer 2026, designers styled sporty anoraks and windbreakers with cute skirts. Skall Studio showed a lovely cream-colored outfit paired with white socks and heels. Nicklas Skovgaard contrasted an electric-blue windbreaker with a butter-yellow circle skirt. Over at Rave Review, a green anorak was styled with an intentionally wrinkled midi skirt. Who's up for mixing business with pleasure? OpéraSport, Gestuz, and Rabens Saloner were among the brands at Copenhagen Fashion Week who teamed traditional pantsuits with not-so-conventional bra and bikini tops. I'm not saying to show up to the office in this outfit combo, but it's not as intimidating as you might think. After all, you're only one blazer button away from concealing your skimpy top.

Fringe got an upgrade for spring/summer 2026. Designers eschewed skinny fringe accents in favor of thicker, ribbon-like threads. OpéraSport test-drove the trend via a black tank top with accordion strands at the hem. Meanwhile, Nicklas Skovgaard's white skirt combined dozens of rectangular pieces of fabric, and MKDT Studio presented several dresses adorned with ribbon-like fringe.

Over the past week, my Instagram feed has been filled with cardamom buns, cobbled streets and elegant dressers whizzing around on bicycles. This means only one thing: Copenhagen Fashion Week has been happening.

Somewhat of a younger sister to the “big four” fashion weeks, Copenhagen has a notably more relaxed pace, but its influence is shouldn't be underestimated. Each season, Scandinavia’s most in-demand labels gather in the Danish capital, from established names like Baum und Pferdgarten, Cecilie Bahnsen and Rotate to growing brands with burgeoning cult followings such as The Garment and Birrot. Together, they deliver a line-up defined by energising colour, wearable cuts and a playful sensibility that feels inherently Scandi.

Off the runway, the city becomes a walking Pinterest board, with sheer lace skirts, flashes of tomato red and playful accessorising dominating the street, while on the runway, all eyes have been on what brands are dreaming up for spring/summer 2026, which has so far delivered the kind of fresh, wearable designs I can hardly wait a year for. Thankfully, I really don't have to either, as they all feel very relevant and aligned with the current fashion climate.

While there were some overarching themes seen across several of the collections—such as the quietly audacious palette of blues, plums and pinks—there were some more subtle trends woven through several collections that are destined to leave a mark from now all the way to next summer. There’s something about Copenhagen in the summer that has completely overtaken my imagination (even though I haven’t yet experienced it firsthand). Maybe it’s the soft coastal breeze or the way everyone looks like they’ve just stepped out of a low-key editorial shoot while riding their bikes. The vibe is equal parts polished and playful—never trying too hard, but always looking just right.

Lately, I’ve found myself mentally packing a suitcase for a trip I haven’t booked (yet), dreaming up the outfits I’d wear for everything from coffee at Atelier September to sunset walks along the canal. This list isn’t about staples—I’m assuming you’ve already got those down. Anyone familiar with Scandi style knows it's unashamedly superior when compared to French-girl style or the "old money" aesthetic. Say what you want about the freezing weather in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, but the style set over there knows how to dress. So, it should come as no surprise that when I flew to Copenhagen at the start of the year to attend one of Europe's largest trade shows, the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, my editor senses were tingling. Finally, I could go to the sartorial source and observe all the cool-girl trends that women elsewhere would surely be wearing next season—before the regular shopper even knew they were coming.

While attending CIFF was eye-opening as a fashion editor, for buyers from across Europe, it's business as usual to head to the trade show and place orders for the season ahead. Think of any retailer—luxury department stores, online shopping giants, or niche Antwerp boutiques—most likely, they were all at CIFF to scope out the best fall/winter 2025 trends.

"For me, [attending CIFF] is about discovery: meeting inspiring people, immersing myself in new creative universes, and bringing that energy back to Paris," Amaya Jaïs, a women's ready-to-wear buyer for Galeries Lafayette, told Who What Wear. "Copenhagen has a unique positioning: deeply tied to sustainability, yet never at the expense of desirability. It’s where you find the next wave of talent—brands that are ultra-creative but also incredibly wearable."

CIFF isn’t just a place to seal business deals—it’s a playground for discovering fresh trends and soaking in some serious creative energy. For buyers like Jaïs and Marks & Spencer buyer Jess Kiddie, it’s the perfect mix of work and inspiration, where they can spot the next big thing while also keeping it practical. From sustainability-driven designs to laid-back streetwear that still looks effortlessly cool, CIFF is where fashion’s commerce and creativity collide in the best way possible.

"My favorite aspect of Copenhagen fashion is just how effortlessly cool the style feels, particularly the casualwear," Kiddie, a junior buyer for the branded footwear department at Marks and Spencer, told Who What Wear. Although Kiddie, with eight years of experience in the shoe world, focuses on sneakers, loafers, boots, and other footwear options, it's hard not to feel an instant connection with the sartorial vibe CIFF brings to the city every January and August.

Of course, what people actually wear to CIFF is nearly as important as the brands they work for. "The most dressed-down looks still look perfectly thrown together. I'm just obsessed with how many cool streetwear brands we came across," Kiddie added.

After chatting with Kiddie, Jaïs, and womenswear buyer Emma Fawcett about my suspicions, they agreed: these five trends, spotted everywhere at CIFF, will likely be on clothing store racks within the next couple of months.

CIFF 64 was practically a zoo—not only because of the sheer number of vendors who set up camp during the trade show but also because of the market they were showcasing. According to Amaya Jaïs, a women's ready-to-wear buyer for Galeries Lafayette, reimagined animal prints were all the rage for buyers this season. Classic pieces like car coats, minidresses, and straight-leg denim have all been given the animal-farm treatment. If you're not loving a head-to-toe zoo look, Jaïs suggests the printed trend will evolve to be a bit more subtle, focusing on handbags and accessories for a pop of fun.

Jess Kiddie, a junior buyer on the branded footwear team for Marks and Spencer, agrees, calling out the use of cow-print motifs in sneakers and loafers across brands at CIFF.

Trends in Copenhagen—and Scandinavia at large—wouldn't be complete without mentioning the style set's reliance on classic, cozy knits. Slouchy sweaters and delicate cardigans were abundant at CIFF and, of course, in line with the country's sartorial DNA.

Emma Fawcett, a buyer for Branded Fall/Winter & Accessories at Marks & Spencer, explained that while knits are always a staple at CIFF’s Fall/Winter edition, boxy crewnecks and cardigans were everywhere this season. Extra trend-forward details, like ornate buttons or powder-blue hues, also made classic knits feel a bit fresher, according to Fawcett, an industry veteran with over nine years of buying experience.

While the Scandi style set's silhouettes might err on the classic side, their textiles don’t. Jackets, bags, coats, and shoes all incorporate interesting textures and kinesthetic elements—think crushed velvet, shearling, suede, fur, and pony hair. "I'm seeing lots of suede and great faux suede across bags, outerwear, and footwear in an array of colors, from classic tan to browns, lighter neutrals, and black," Fawcett said. According to Jaïs, you shouldn't count out faux fur, either. "It's making a strong comeback, bringing a sense of tactility and boldness to looks," she added.

Goodbye, merlot—hello, eggplant. Buyers at CIFF spotted merlot’s cooler, edgier cousin, aubergine, across jackets, boots, and leather accessories.

"Where burgundy was so popular last season, it seems to have moved on into a deeper aubergine tone, which looked super versatile in tailoring separates, knitwear, and outerwear," Fawcett explained. She gives bonus points for leather eggplant-colored accessories and accent pieces like loafers, ballet flats, or handbags.

Basics—but make them actually fun. Jaïs calls it tailoring with a twist. Think exaggerated necklines, too-short pencil skirts, or deconstructed trench-coat capes that, on the surface, look like wardrobe staples but, in reality, are a bit freaky. "Classic structures are reinvented, featuring bold collar plays or sharp architectural cuts," Jaïs said, perhaps referencing one of the vendors at CIFF that often appears on the Copenhagen Fashion Week calendar, Herskind.
