Last weekend, the most beloved players in the WNBA descended on Chicago to participate in the biggest All-Star Weekend in league history, with a record 19,783 fans attending the All-Star Game—the first time the WNBA outdrew the NBA ever. But basketball wasn't the only happening over the three-day event. Given how much the W has grown in recent years, it should come as no surprise that brands from all over joined in on the action, Coach being one of them. Even with a clear initial concept, there is always a conversation between the design and the physical making. Each participant will post their intimate perspectives of big moments from Bueckers getting ready for a big game to PinkPantheress preparing to take center stage. Every moment will be accompanied by a personal reflection and a Coach bag. Twenty-two-year-old San Francisco–born, Maryland-raised Kiki Rice has had a busy few weeks. Throughout March and early April, she competed alongside her UCLA teammates and best friends in March Madness, leaving the tournament with the Bruins' first-ever NCAA women's basketball title and a very large trophy. Following the win—and three days of "partying"—she and the other graduating seniors on the squad as well as their head coach, Cori Close, flew to New York City for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and a few days later, they joined the hosts of Good Morning America. Finally, on Monday night, Rice was drafted into the WNBA, going sixth overall to the Toronto Tempo, the newest team to join the league.

"The last 10 days have been crazy busy," she tells Who What Wear from a makeup chair, where she got ready for the draft surrounded by her family, her boyfriend (Oklahoma City Thunder shooting guard Cason Wallace), and her team. "But this is something we've been looking forward to all season." Everything she and her teammates ever dreamed of came true: a national championship title and the chance to play in the WNBA, the pinnacle of women's basketball. All six draft-eligible players from UCLA's championship-winning team were drafted into the WNBA, and five were snatched up in the first round, a record-breaking feat.

What have the last 10 days been like since you won the title?

The last 10 days have been crazy busy. We've been running around doing a lot of media, events, and fun celebrations. It's been really cool to celebrate with the team and enjoy this time together. We're also getting ready for the WNBA Draft, which is something we've been looking forward to all season.

It's unique that you get to do it with so many of your teammates and your best friends. What has it been like to be able to go through this whole process with them?

It's super special. We have the opportunity tonight to set a record for the number of players drafted from one school, so for UCLA to be able to do that and for us to share these moments together—these are some of my best friends, people who are going to be sisters for life—we're just so excited to see each other walk across the stage and achieve our dreams.

With March Madness and the draft and then training camp and the start of the season coming up, there's a lot going on. What are you doing to mentally prepare while also trying to soak up a moment and actually experience it?

I'm just making sure that I'm really enjoying each thing that we get to do because winning a national championship is not something that happens often. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so I don't want to rush over it. I don't want to rush to the next thing but rather live in the present moment and enjoy the time with my teammates and my family.

For tonight, can you tell me a bit about your look?

Tonight, I'm wearing a Coach set with a Coach jacket and bag. I feel like the jewelry really brings out the finishing touches with a lot of silver and black, which I really like. I think it all comes together really well.

How did you come up with the concept for the look, and are there any aspects of it that the naked eye wouldn't notice?

The nails really finished the outfit really well. It's a gray chrome set that matches my bag perfectly. There are a lot of sparkles, which provided a great pop for the outfit. And I think the fabrics are super pretty as well. They're small details, but the fabric all across the skirt and top added something really nice.

Do you have any early memories of Coach?

I wouldn't say early, but right when I got to college, all of my teammates had Coach bags. That was like the big thing. When I got to campus, especially all the seniors and older girls, they were really rocking the Coach bags. That was something that was instilled in me right away.

How would you describe your relationship with style and fashion?

Style is a great outlet to show my personality, to have fun, to try different things, and it's really cool to be able to put on a 'fit before a game or when I'm going out and feel like I'm looking good outside of my uniform.

Do you have any plans for how you want to arrive in the tunnel in your rookie season?

I'm definitely excited to debut my first tunnel 'fits. In college, we got to do a few of them, but the W provides an opportunity to do it every single time you have a game. I'm going to try some new things out and see how I feel. I'm really excited to get dressed up every opportunity I can.

With winter finally coming to an end in New York City, spring sneakers are top of mind for a lot of people ready to put away their snow boots and other cold-weather shoes, so I decided to browse what’s in stock at Nordstrom.

Personally, when I wear sneakers, I tend to gravitate toward pairs that look less like traditional sneakers and sometimes more like flats or Mary Janes. The XT-6 sneakers from Salomon have been go-tos for years, and I’m also a fan of the Gender Inclusive RX Moc 3.0 Slip-On Sneaker from the brand. Emily Bader may not be a morning person, but for Coach, she’ll set the alarm (and dunk her face in ice) without complaint.

It’s New York Fashion Week, and the actress—fresh off the breakout success of My Lady Jane and the buzzy Netflix adaptation of People We Meet on Vacation—is firmly in her leading-lady era, both on screen and in the front row. For the Coach fall/winter 2026 show, Bader arrived with that distinctly downtown ease. Polished but never precious. Cool but in on the joke.

Coach has long perfected the high-low tension between heritage and a little rebellion, and this season leaned all the way in. Think butter-soft leather outerwear, slouchy carryalls, and outerwear with a touch of moto attitude. Bader was especially struck by the drama of it all. “There’s something nostalgic about Coach,” she told Who What Wear while getting ready at her downtown hotel. “It feels very American, very cinematic—but still playful. You can make it your own.”

Below, we caught up with Bader in her lead-up to the Coach fall/winter 2026 show.

Do you have any pre-show routine or rituals?

I don’t have any real rituals at this point except for maybe dunking my face in a bucket of ice. It’s safe to say I’m not a morning person, so ice initially helped with that, but now it feels like an anytime thing.

Did you have a favorite look from the Coach fall/winter 2026 collection? The piece you want in your closet immediately?

My favorite look from the collection was this red fur-lined suede coat, open, exposing the model’s body with a very cool low-rise brown pant. There’s something rock and roll about it, and it definitely left an impression on the runway. I was most excited by the collection’s eruption into color through the show. The clothes started in this dark color scheme where it almost felt like a black-and-white movie. And then the color turned on.

I'd love for you to walk me through the outfit you're wearing to the show. What about the pieces you're wearing feels exciting, fresh, and like an authentic representation of your style?

Today I’m wearing something a bit daring for me. I have this super-low-rise black denim skirt (with a very flirty slit up the back, may I add). And a very cropped white Coach tank top. We decided to pair it with an edgy little slingback heel and an open leather blazer. When thinking about the collection, we wanted something that felt effortlessly cool, with a '90s Carolyn Bessette chicness.

Just like the actual garments, beauty and grooming are such an important part in nailing the perfect front-row look. Tell me a bit about your beauty routine and what your inspiration was for your look today.

My beauty routine is relatively simple. Sleep is number one, and I love an overnight face mask. My skin is very sensitive, so I try not to experiment too much before an important event. When I have the outfit, I usually go right to Pinterest to find inspiration—a lot of Keira Knightley photos that are genuinely not a point of inspiration; I just spiritually want to look like her haha. And from that, I usually just come up with it in the moment with my hair and makeup team. They come with so many fun ideas!

What’s your “I’m in New York” food order during fashion week—bagel, slice, chopped salad, bodega run?

My "in New York" food is any and everything. I need a bagel at least once, and then usually some chewy noodles with spicy chili oil or soup dumplings are top of my mind.

When you actually have a free moment in New York during fashion week, how are you spending it?

A free moment in New York is a little weather dependent. If it’s not freezing, I love to just walk. I’ll walk halfway across town window shopping, getting coffees and iced teas, snacking along the way. If it’s winter, I’m inside watching HGTV ordering room service.

Front-row essentials: What must be within arm’s reach once you sit down?

My front-row essentials are gum (the seats are so close together, and you never know who you’re going to talk to) and a charged-up cell phone. My phone is nearly dead constantly, so it takes a real effort to make sure she’s nice and charged. I’m always stunned by the buildings these shows are in. And I must get a picture for the archives.

If this New York fashion week had a soundtrack, what would be playing?

If this New York fashion week had a soundtrack it would be the 24-hour YouTube loop of the wood burning fireplace. Or Led Zeppelin IV.

With every passing season, Coach continues to strengthen its position as one of New York Fashion Week's most anticipated shows. For fall/winter 2026, Creative Director Stuart Vevers cited a smattering of seemingly discordant inspirations that somehow worked perfectly together as a mosaic of American style. Attendees included Elle Fanning, Emily Bader (who filmed a GRWM vlog just for Who What Wear), Storm Reid, Quenlin Blackwell, Caleb McLaughlin, Odessa A'zion, and many more.

"This collection looks to American fashion as a mindset beyond the bounds of geography—one that extends from Seventh Avenue sportswear to utilitarian workwear, and from youth counterculture to the dreamscape of old Hollywood films," Vevers said in a statement. "It exists in iconography, and memory, and certain experiences we all share." 1. '70s Sportswear

High school varsity uniforms were a central motif this season. Repurposed vintage jerseys, varsity-striped socks, and '70s-inspired shrunken jackets gave the collection a cool, retro-tinged feel.

2. Youth Countercultures

Per the show notes, "the grit and playfulness of suburban skate culture" inspired the collection's '90s shorts and beat-up skater shoes. "Using crafts with a sense of history, we continue a conversation that connects youth countercultures across decades and geographies," the brand explained.

3. '30s and '40s Hollywood

"Coach returns to the joy of dressing up with a selection of evening gowns inspired by Hollywood styles of the '30s and '40s, which feature fitted waists and padded shoulders and are embellished with cut-outs and sparkling applique," per the press release.

4. Sustainability and Repurposing

This season, Vevers aimed to highlight the benefits of circular fashion with cleverly repurposed items such as an old baseball glove turned into a handbag. "Recycling means sharing," he said in a statement. "Shared clothing unites us. It’s shaped by the lives of others, which we take and adapt into our own lives every day." Upcycled denim and patchwork jackets also fit this theme.

5. Workwear

I usually associate pinstripes with stuffy corporate attire, but Coach just made me realize the pattern shouldn't be relegated to the office. This season, pinstripes were reimagined on easy, draped dresses with tattered hems that wouldn't exactly cut it in the boardroom. Another workwear staple, the messenger bag, also got a cooler, more relaxed update via a slouchy silhouette.

The more I scroll, the more the idea that 2026 really is the new 2016 seems logical, especially after I came across Bella Hadid wearing a crossbody bag from Coach.

Pendant necklaces have been prominent on the runways of NYFW S/S 26, and Coach found an inventive way to embrace the spring necklace trend. In keeping with its distinction as a longtime purveyor of leather goods, Vevers nodded to this via leather kiss-lock pouch pendants, which hung around almost every model's neck.

Speaking of neckwear, while spring 2025 was all about scarves tied at the waist like a belt, spring 2026 is poised to be all about scarves tied around the neck, mimicking a choker necklace. If there's one thing the fashion crowd loves, it's new ways to wear a silky scarf. And even better if it's paired with a pouch-pendant necklace, as it frequently was on the Coach runway.

Side-Buckle Belts

Some of the best trends are ones we can participate in using items already in our wardrobe, and a major one was introduced on the Coach S/S 26 runway. All you have to do is move the buckle of your leather belt to one side of your body. In instance after instance, models were styled in baggy trousers with leather belts in which the buckle was placed at their hip bones. It's a simple styling trick that you could easily start incorporating into your outfits today, and I'm sure Coach has lots of chic belts to do so with in the pipeline.

Kiss-Lock Bags

Vintage-inspired kiss-lock bags are a style Coach has already brought back, but it's leaning into the style even more so with its S/S 26 collection. Multiple models carried kiss-lock pouches, and even barrel bags (including the soon-to-be-released Kisslock Barrel Bag (which is sure to be Coach's next It bag) and bucket bags were adorned with kiss-lock features.

Twenty-five-year-old Toni Breidinger opened May racing in the SpeedyCash.com 250 at Texas Motor Speedway. One hundred and sixty-seven laps later, the NASCAR driver racing for Tricon Garage said goodbye to Fort Worth, Texas, trading in one racing locale for another—Miami, Florida. The following day, step-and-repeat photos of Breidinger were proof of her double life. While there, she stopped by a WhatsApp x Mercedes-AMG Formula One event before heading to a cocktail party for one of her brand partners. One day later, she walked the F1 pit lane alongside Suni Lee at the Miami Grand Prix wearing a butter-yellow minidress, white handbag, and elegant racing watch. In addition to being a rising star on the racetrack, Breidinger is a model, walking the pink carpet at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, attending New York Fashion Week, and, most recently, starring in Coach's new Soho Sneaker campaign.

During her day job, the San Francisco native works with her team to fight for positions in NASCAR's Truck Series, doing exactly what she's wanted to do since she was 9 and her father took her and her sister go-karting for the first time—driving for a living. But racing was just one of her goals. "Growing up, my dream was always to be a race-car driver," Breidinger tells me a few days before heading to Texas for last weekend's race. "But I wanted to be a model too." For her, finding a way to juggle the two was always the mission. "It's kind of crazy how both worlds ended up colliding and working out for me," she continues. "They oddly go hand in hand."

Though racing in NASCAR and modeling are "polar opposites," Breidinger says they also come together a lot more than people might think. "I've been able to [naturally] leverage both," she says. Unlike in other sports like basketball and soccer, drivers need to pay to play if they want to get their cars on track, whether they drive in NASCAR, IndyCar, or F1. "You need partners to work with you and believe in you so you can get that seat time and you can progress through your career," she says. "I've been able to build a following and work with so many amazing brands on the modeling side, and all that goes back into my racing." Without sponsors, Breidinger knows she'd never be able to continue driving.

This is especially true when you consider the pay disparity between men and women in sports. An obvious example of this can be found in professional basketball, where last year's number-one pick in the WNBA Draft, NCAA women's basketball phenom Caitlin Clark, secured a starting salary of $76,000, according to ESPN. Her male counterpart, French star Victor Wembanyama? He started his NBA career with a salary of $12.2 million. According to Axios, Clark's entire 2024 WNBA team combined will get paid about the same as one random bench NBA player. The same inequality exists in motorsport, where, historically, very few women have been able to compete at all. Why? "We are underfunded," Breidinger says.

Rather than letting that be a point of defeat for her, though, Breidinger saw her role as a woman in a male-dominated sport as an opportunity. Whereas so many of her male counterparts are competing for the same sponsorship deals, Breidinger has gone after brands that are geared more toward women. "We have brands that we can work with that the male athletes can't work with," she says. "It's important to get those brands that cater to a female demographic to support us because they really can push us through our space." Plus, it gives brands that would typically be shut out of the motorsport ecosystem entry. Suddenly, they can be involved in a sport that draws millions of TV viewers by having a female athlete to work with. And then there are the fans. "The fans are so passionate and so loyal, especially NASCAR fans," Breidinger says. "If we have a brand supporting me, I instantly see people saying, 'I'm gonna go get Raising Cane's because Toni likes Raising Cane's.'"

With that said, it's no surprise that so many brands are bringing Breidinger into the fold, selecting her for major campaigns and inviting her to attend their events. Coach is one such brand. "With the launch of our Coach Soho Sneaker, we wanted to tell a different kind of story," says Joon Silverstein, the brand's chief marketing officer, in a press release. "Not about hype. Not about status. Not about collecting. But about real life—and what consumers want from a sneaker today." The style was designed to be customized to fit each wearer's needs and lifestyle, no matter what that entails.

Given her multifaceted career, Breidinger connected with this concept at a core level. She needs her sneakers to be as versatile as she is. "I'm always wearing different things—I have many aesthetics," she says. "At the track, I usually wear oversize clothes, like vintage NASCAR jackets and tees with jeans, and I think the [Soho] sneakers are perfect for that." Away from racing, though, she says she likes to style them with a tennis skirt or sundress. "There are so many ways to go about it," she tells me. "They've been in my suitcase for every single trip I've gone on recently."

It's not just that they're easy to style. The Soho Sneakers are also all about self-expression. Coach's customers, according to Silverstein, desire sneakers that "adapt to the many expressions of who they are," she says in the release. Her team chose the campaign's stars to reflect this direction, tapping talents who are shaping culture in individual ways and taking their Soho Sneakers on new, untraveled routes. As someone who's never taken the most traveled path in her career(s), Breidinger was a perfect fit. Not only is she a woman in NASCAR—a sport that, according to Sporting News, has only seen about 75 women compete across its top three divisions: the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Truck Series—but she's also the first Arab American woman to race in a national series. For reference, there is no exact count of the number of men who've competed in these series, but one reference site, Racing Reference, put it at 19,732.

"When you start accumulating first this and first that, it's like, 'Oh, I guess I was the first one,'" Breidinger says. "You don't realize that you're the first because, in my mind, I'm not thinking, 'Oh, I want to be the first female to do this or the first female to do that.' I'm just doing my thing." Embracing her journey and not comparing it to anyone else's is what's gotten her to where she is today. "When I was younger, I used to compare my journey to a lot of people," she says. "Once I was able to truly embrace myself and the path I'm on, I was able to grow so much more."

Knowing who she is now has given Breidinger the confidence to be herself, something she was excited to do with her Soho Sneakers. "The sneakers themselves are such a great [mode] of self-expression," Breidinger says. This being her rookie season in NASCAR, she tells me that self-expression is one of her top priorities as she breaks into the series. Unlike in F1, the NASCAR paddock isn't always the most fashionable place. Guests aren't arriving in off-the-runway pieces, nor are the series' drivers. With fashion being such a big part of Breidinger's life and work, it's important to her to bring that side of her to the track in whatever ways she can. "I love making the pit road my runway," she says. "For the most part, I'm in my suit and helmet, which I am heavily involved in [designing] and get some self-expression from that, but I love pulling up with different outfits."

At a recent race in Las Vegas, Nevada, Breidinger arrived at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway wearing her Soho Sneakers with a vintage-inspired jersey with her team's name on it, black trousers, and a Raising Cane's trucker hat. At an International Women's Month event at a track in Phoenix, Arizona, she donned the same hat with a retro-looking leather racing jacket. "It's so perfect that racing and NASCAR vintage apparel is cool right now in the fashion scene," Breidinger says. "My two worlds are colliding—I get to wear my racing [gear] and still be up with the trends." Plus, by wearing what makes her feel confident and ready for lights out, she hopes that she'll inspire others to do the same instead of sticking to NASCAR's normal dress code. "Sometimes, you just need one person to break the norm and dress the way [they] want and express [themselves] to make other people feel more comfortable to do it too," she says. Sure, some might be fine with the way it is and has been, but for anyone who's abiding by set-in-stone dressing codes just because they don't want to be the first to stray or don't think they can pull off another look, Breidinger wants to offer an alternative. "I think anybody can wear anything they want and pull it off just as well as anybody," she says. "For me, at least, the better I feel about myself, the better I perform. It goes hand in hand."

Everything about Breidinger's double life—part-time model, part-time race-car driver—just clicks. It's what works for her. "I have so many different personalities," she says. "Me at the racetrack is so different from the Toni that's on set modeling, and it's fun to live out both of those sides of myself." Racing gives her adrenaline and pressure, healthily feeding her competitiveness. At the same time, modeling, she says, is more of a mild atmosphere. "I love working with people who are creative," she continues. Her dual careers are the ultimate scale. They balance her out, helping Breidinger perform her best at all times—no matter the stress or chaos doing both sometimes entails. (See: her travel itinerary at the beginning of May.) More literally, juggling is the only viable financial option for Breidinger, as a woman in sports, if she wants to continue doing the things she's loved since childhood. "I would not be racing without modeling, and I honestly wouldn't be modeling without my racing," she says. Then again, with jobs like Coach's Not Just for Walking Soho Sneaker campaign, a new racing partnership with Kendall Jenner's 818 Tequila, and more on the cards for 2025, Breidinger would never dream of giving up either, even if she could.

Three weeks ago, Hailey Van Lith was still in Fort Worth, Texas, working on a graduate degree and playing basketball for the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs. Before she heard her name called by league commissioner Cathy Engelbert at the 2025 WNBA Draft—marking the beginning of her rookie season with the Chicago Sky, the team that drafted the 5'9'' point guard as the 11th pick—Van Lith had to prepare for the evening's most important activity (at least for fashion people like us): the orange carpet. Below, follow along with Van Lith as she gets ready with Coach for the biggest day of her career thus far.

This is the biggest day of your basketball career so far. How are you feeling going into the draft?

I feel great. Honestly, I feel very calm, and I'm super excited to walk the carpet and sit at the table and find out my future, but the majority, I'm just calm and joyful.

You only get to be drafted once. Tell us about your look for tonight and why it felt fitting for such a significant moment.

I think the draft is such a unique event [to dress for]. You don't want to be too red carpet-y or [dress like it's the] Met Gala. At the same time, it's not like a homecoming or prom. It's kind of a mix that you have to find. I also didn't want to be too plain. I wanted to do something a little different and stand out, so I think a lot of the shine on my dress, how we played with sheer fabric throughout, and incorporating the corset made it very unique. It'll look great on the orange carpet—it'll shine well. I think it's the perfect elegant look, but it has some youthfulness to it too.

Are there any details about your look or tales from the selection/fitting process that someone just seeing it from afar might not know?

The fitting process and putting the dress together were super fun. A lot of the patterns and the beads and the shine that you see on the dress [are] actually reworked vintage fabrics from different dresses from Coach. The way that they all got put together is really unique.

A lot goes into picking which brand to wear to the draft. You're wearing custom Coach. Do you have any significant memories of the brand that have stuck with you?

I was actually just remembering it today, but my first big-girl gift that I got my mom for Christmas was a Coach bag from one of those outlet stores. I remember being so proud of myself that that was my gift for her.

How would you describe your personal style, and what can fans expect from you and your tunnel 'fits this season?

I play between masculine and feminine, and sometimes, I blur the lines a little bit, which I think is super fun. Mostly, my style is elegant, and it really is timeless, in that it's not basic, but it will pass the test of time. I think I won't have to change my personal style too much as I grow up. I love a good elegant, chic look.

Who in the W inspires your style?

A couple of W players that I really look to for inspiration would be Skylar Diggins-Smith and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough. I think they are the two—both of them have different styles, but I try to incorporate hints of both in what I do.

You're in New York for the draft, a city you've visited plenty of times, including for New York Fashion Week. What's your favorite thing to do while you're here?

Eat. Eat all the food. I love going to dinners. I love trying all the desserts. All my social media feed is restaurants in New York that people are saying are insane. So eating, for sure.

Do you remember the first big purchase you made with your own money earned from playing basketball? What was it?

I went on a trip to Italy a few summers ago, and I found a one-of-one (who knows?) authentic gold cross necklace from a little shop. It's beautiful, and I get compliments on it all the time. So that was my first big purchase with my basketball money.

In one year from now, what's one thing you'll want to have achieved in your time in the WNBA?

I think the goal is to have improved myself as a player. Hopefully, I will pursue a few of my interests off the court too. You know, being an adult and a professional, I won't have to be in school, so I'm excited for both those opportunities.

If I had to name my favorite trends over the last few seasons, bag charms would rank high. And I have to say, I literally can’t get enough of the look. I keep adding more and more charms to my bags to bring a personalized and unique touch to my styles. Case in point? From deep merlot clutches at Victoria Beckham and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini to east-west bags crafted from crocodile-embossed cherry leather at Gucci to classic quilted Chanel bags in a bougie bordeaux, there was no shortage of examples of this dark shade on the runway this season. It will take time to see whether this trend becomes as hot as expected, but there's no better way to spice up your fall staples than with a purse in this particular color.

Remember a few years back when mini bags were all the rage? Well, they've called in reinforcements. While we may no longer be clamoring to get our hands on the smallest bags in sight, that's likely to change simply with the flick of a wrist. As a hybrid bag style between a miniature top-handle bag and a traditional clutch, a wristlet hasn't always been considered the easiest bag to style for everyday life.

The fall/winter collections showed that this trend could be worth holding on to, and the silhouette's versatility was demonstrated in full force. At Chloé, there were adaptable wristlets that could be styled as a bracelet or shoulder bag. Similarly, Prada's classic Cleo Bag was creatively restyled as a wristlet with the addition of a leather wrist strap that easily attaches to the bag's hardware. Even if you don't follow trends extensively, it should be no surprise that '90s fashion has resurfaced. It's taken over social media, street style, and even our own site. The bags from that era, however, haven't been given as much attention until now. Sure, we still see some of the decade's silhouettes, but it wasn't until these past few seasons that we saw luxury houses revitalizing bags from the '90s in full force. More specifically, designers have brought back the bowler bag—a shape with a flat bottom and round top that was first popularized by Prada and Dior.
