For a dinner out in New York, Taylor Swift pulled together an autumn-ready outfit we’ll be copying all season long. Joining friends Zoë Kravitz and Greta Gerwig, Swift stepped out in a sleek LBD, brown wool coat and the season's favourite black knee high boots for a casual evening outfit that has us itching to replicate the style at home.

As we sit in the sweet-spot of early autumn, where the last remnants of summer's breeze dutifully linger and autumn's leaves begin to fall, we're presented with a rare few perfect weeks to style some of our favourite outfit combinations, whilst the weather permits, such as a jumpers and sandals, or bare legs and knee boots.

The last four months have been busy for Italian actress Beatrice Grannò. Following the premiere of season two of The White Lotus, where she broke out playing Sicily native and aspiring singer Mia, Grannò has appeared on talk shows, on magazine covers, in a Skims campaign with co-star Simona Tabasco, and front row at Paris Couture Week and New York Fashion Week. It’s been a whirlwind press tour for the 29-year-old that culminated in an exciting and well-deserved win at the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The star-studded cast turned out in full this Sunday to take home the coveted statue for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, marking yet another big night for the Mike White series.

For the occasion, Grannò selected a gorgeous black dress with a deep-V neckline and thigh-high slit from Valentino’s Urban Riviera collection accompanied by Tiffany & Co. jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels. The look, styled by Valeria Marchetti, was complemented with slicked-back hair and her signature red lip. Who What Wear was there to document all the details of her look before she hit the red carpet, and we caught up with the actress the next morning to talk about the special evening.

Congratulations on season two of The White Lotus and your Screen Actors Guild Awards win for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series! What has it meant to you to be a part of this show and incredible ensemble?

The fact that we won as an ensemble is what makes this award really special. Sometimes in this job, you feel like it’s a very individual job. You are very much by yourself. And also with awards, you are always competing with other people. So the fact that we all won as a group, it was something that I had never experienced before, and it was so beautiful when we were there all together celebrating. We kept saying congratulations to one another. We all had our own [statue]! And these types of experiences make you remember that you are never alone. Your job is not just you. It’s loads of people’s jobs, especially when you are an artist. And the fact that all the actors voted for us, it’s beautiful. 

Looking back, what excited you most about playing a character like Mia?

I love that she is so unpredictable. You never know who she’s going to be, what she’s going to become, or what she’s going to do. I love the fact that she is musical. At the beginning, that’s what made me fall in love with her—to be able to play someone who can sing. But I loved the fact that she started out as this innocent young girl, and she flipped into something else. Also, last night, we were all having dinner, The White Lotus cast, and I was having a conversation with Will Sharpe, who is a very clever guy, and he was saying that he realized me and Lucia were… You know Midsummer's Night Dream? That’s a very similar story, and the character Puck could be me and Lucia, so I love the fact that they could not even exist. They could be like two imaginary friends, but they are there to fix things, break the equilibrium. I just love this about Mia and, of course, Lucia.

Mia is a great character. I also love how determined she was to get her moment in the spotlight. 

She is so determined that she becomes blind. She doesn’t see what she’s doing. I said this before, but you know when you are late? You’re in a rush, and you have to leave. You become clumsy, and you leave a mess. And then you come back home, and it’s like, "Oh, how did I do this?” I think that Mia … wants to get there [so quickly], and then she’s so clumsy. 

Both Mia and Lucia have so many great looks throughout the season. Do you have a favorite?

I think the white dress, the one with the feathers when she’s with Valentina. I just loved it because at that point she became sort of a femme fatale, a very strong woman determined to get what she wants. It reminded me of a Marilyn Monroe world. She also sings "Happy Birthday,” so it reminded me of that world.

Let’s talk about your look for the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

What I loved about that look is that it tells a story of sensuality that I like because it’s not upfront. It’s reserved, but it’s there. So sometimes through the gap of the dress, you can see my leg, but sometimes, you don’t. I love this kind of way of telling a story of sensuality. But also, I loved it because it is, in my opinion, what Italian fashion is, what it always was. So it’s chic but minimal but very definite and very strong. It doesn’t need that much—it’s there. I tend to have a very soft energy, so something that makes me feel more strong, it was just perfect.

Was it one that you tried on and instantly knew "This is the one,” or did you try many options?

I tried many looks from many brands, but for some reason, my eye would always go back to that one because that dress was one that we tried, but it didn’t fit. It was the most complicated one, but I kept going back to it.

You had such cool hair and makeup. What was the inspiration behind your glam look? 

I think that we were going for more of a natural look for the makeup. And then for the hair, we wanted a wet look, which is something I’d never done before and was exciting. The glam team was so talented. Peter Gray did the hair, and it was so good. And also the makeup artist Karoline Karakeosian works with Valentino Beauty. With makeup, I don’t like to have too much on. I always love a natural look, but this was the idea to create a sort of wet effect.

What are some self-care rituals you do on the day of a big red carpet event to keep yourself calm and feeling your best self?

I don’t think I have a ritual because every time is different. But I definitely have a few things I like to do. I don’t like to have a night out before. I really like to have a moment for myself and not really have fun. I don’t want to have fun because of the butterflies in your stomach. You should take care of them. So I drink herbal tea, spend time with myself, and try to get bored a little bit. So that’s what I normally do. Listen to music.

I was (fashionably) late to the jeans party. My first foray into pants was experimenting with my mom’s old stirrup leggings, but beyond that, dresses and skirts were strictly my jam. Anything with separate legs felt restrictive and as far as hemlines were concerned, the shorter the better. 

That all changed when I discovered vintage in high school. Turned on to the "joy of the hunt” by a friend, I became obsessed with the adrenaline rush of discovering one-of-a-kind pieces. My previous grievances against pants were quickly forgotten when I fell for a pair of perfectly worn-in Levi’s. This was holy grail denim: buttery soft, slightly androgynous, and in the most perfect sky blue wash. I was hooked, and my repertoire expanded quickly: frayed cutoffs in lieu of miniskirts, indigo bootcut jeans over slip dresses. My sweaters were set aside in favor of oversized, distressed denim jackets. I’d turned into a true blue-jean baby. 

Denim still factors heavily in my closet. I’m in jeans almost every day. Recently, I crossed over to the dark side. Black jeans create a totally different look, and I was keen to switch things up. Revamping my denim drawer made me feel like I was in high school again, chasing a high through different cuts and washes. The perfect travel day outfit. The high crew neck is cozy and less restrictive than a turtleneck while a wide-leg faded jean is instantly more interesting than leggings or skinny jeans. Sneakers and a cute claw clip will keep you zipping through TSA to pre-board. 

A foolproof everyday look. Layering a colorful cardi will brighten even the grayest day. Straight-leg rigid denim is a subtle homage to the '90s, and patent leather lug soled boots are functional while staying on-trend.

I can’t get this scent out of my head, and although I usually like to wear a different fragrance each day, I keep coming back to this one. It’s simultaneously sweet and spicy, which makes it quite unlike anything I’ve ever smelt before, and although it’s super subtle, I always gets compliments when I wear this. I’m predicting that warm, skin scents (like Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 and Phlur Missing Person) will be huge in 2023, and this definitely fits into that trend.

2. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540

"This is a hard one as I’m such a fragrance lover and genuinely wear a different fragrance most days depending on my mood, outfit or the weather, but Maison Francis Baccarat Rouge is my ultimate favourite,” says Grant Donaldson, beauty content creator and fragrance expert. 

"I was introduced to it by a friend years ago, since then my best friend wears it, as does Andrew (my fiancé) so for me it’s the ultimate comfort. It’s like a cuddle in a bottle from those I love the most. It’s an instant smile. I think I’ll be wearing it for as long as they make it. 3. Vyrao Georgette Eau de Parfum for Self Love

"My fragrance preferences are pure chaos. On the one hand, I love light, fresh, metallic scents, but on the other hand I also adore dark, spicy, sexy scents that have an air of mystery to them,” reveals Sophia Panych, Head of Beauty Content at Farfetch. "Add to that the fact that I'm a sucker for coconut-y and vanilla-y fragrances in the summer and my perfume collection is all over the place. Vyrao Georgette somehow oddly encompasses all my preferences in one wildly intoxicating scent. It's spicy and smoky thanks to sandalwood, patchouli, and tobacco. There's a sharp, metallic quality courtesy of violet leaf absolute, and there's a touch of vanilla that adds a smooth creaminess. "Georgette is a woody, spicy, floral that errs more on the woody/spicy end of the spectrum than the floral one. It reminds me a lot of the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black (RIP Mary Kate and Ashley's now discontinued range), but it is great for anyone who wants a standout scent that's warm and spicy and woody, and who doesn't mind patchouli, as I know it can be a polarising note. Vyrao is an indie, niche fragrance brand, which I feel is a category of scents people are really paying attention to these days thanks to TikTok discovering unique perfumes like Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge. But Vyrao is also a brand that sees fragrance as a mood booster and wellbeing tool. This trend of "functional fragrance" has really taken off since the start of the pandemic and I think Vyrao does it in such a beautiful and elevated way.”

4. Miller Harris L’Air de Rien

"I will admit to wearing the same perfume for an embarrassingly long time,” confesses freelance beauty editor, Jenny Brownlees. "I have long loved the light, floral notes of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle, and wearing it since my late teens means it holds so much nostalgia. Now in my 30’s – I wanted to switch to a scent that felt more ‘grown-up’. I have fallen for Miller Harris’ L’air de Rien, which will be my signature for 2023. I like the notes of amber, earthy moss, musk and Neroli set off against a warm woodiness. It brings to mind a hint of vintage books, which I love. "For me i would have to be Loubirouge by Louboutin. It transports me to the Hollywood set of a cigar lounge or powder room in the 1920s,” says Nicole Koremblum, content creator and TikTok fragrance reviewer. "It’s a blend of beautiful powdery iris and addictive vanilla. Such a perfect signature, all year round scent, and extremely underrated. 6. Experimental Perfume Club Tonka Extraordinaire

"I tend to wear a collection of The Ones, rather than The One,” reveals Alice du Parq, fragrance presenter, expert and host. "Coming into January - which is always so miserable and slow - I will want something cosy and nurturing, so I'll be adding Tonka Extraordinaire by Experimental Perfume Club to my winter scent wardrobe. It's a warm, smudgy blend of tonka bean (a bittersweet kernel that smells like dark chocolate, toffee and liquorice), sesame seed (nutty and toasty), amber (golden and glowy) and iris (buttery and creamy). It's addictive but not sugary, like the soft suede lining of a handbag covered in smeared lipsticks and Nutella. "I’m getting married in February, and my chosen wedding scent is Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Oud Satin Mood,” says Hannah English, author and beauty expert. "I’ll want to wear it constantly to remind me of the big day. I’m so excited!”

"It’s loud, it certainly makes an entrance and smells deep and delightful, like a smoky Turkish Delight. "For 2023, I'm going back to one of my old favourites, which is Narciso Rodriguez For Her,” reveals Who What Wear beauty editor, Eleanor Vousden. "I remember reading an interview with Narciso years ago and I knew I had to get my hands this perfume (which was created by Francis Kurkdjian, who is also behind Baccarat Rouge 540). This scent is an ode to musk, which is one of my all-time favourite fragrance notes. It's warm, skin-like and lingers on the skin all day— you only need one spritz of this and you'll smell it on your scarf or jumper all day. With the popularity of Phlur's Missing Person in 2022, it has put musk back into the spotlight.”

9. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Belle Le Parfum Eau de Parfum Intense

"My 2023 signature scent will be Jean Paul Gaultier Le Belle Le Parfum eau de Parfum Intense. I believe perfume should be alluring, mysterious, and bewitching. This perfume does just that,” begins Irene Wainman, TikTok fragrance influencer. "This spellbinding perfume smells of amber, vanilla, tonka, and jasmine. It's long lasting and the initial blast of sweetness muddles down to a lingering heavenly scent. This perfume falls into the same category as my signature scents like Tom Ford's Rose Prick, Lancome's La Nuit Tresor, and Tom Ford's Noir Pour Femme. All of which have spicy, syurpy, incense-like notes. "I could never pick one, and with a signature scent, I’m unable to enjoy my fragrance wardrobe, so instead, I prefer the idea of signature notes, which will always meander around oud, sandalwood and vanilla,” explains Nateisha Scott, deputy beauty editor at Harrods. "My Dagian fragrance is such a hopeful fragrance, with its bright citrus top notes and heart of orange blossom,” says master perfumer, Ruth Mastenbroek. "My signature scent heading into 2023 is a no-brainer. It has to be Sanrovia from a brand called Blocki, which is one of the frag community’s best-kept secrets,” reveals TikTok fragrance content creator, Emelia O’Toole. "Blocki was founded in 1865 by John Blocki and ran until 1950. He was a pioneer of American perfumery—he used to preserve real flowers in bottles of his perfume! I know, I know—it's hard to concentrate on what Zendaya is wearing when it's taking every ounce of will not to stare at her hand, clasped inside of Tom Holland's. I get it. Actress Liz Gillies has taken more than one styling cue from her Dynasty character, Fallon Carrington.

"Fallon and I have similar taste, but she definitely goes places that I normally would never go in real life," Gillies explains. "She takes chances that I would not take, but she has influenced my style a lot." 

Prior to working on the show, Gillies only wore black, but that all changed when she started playing Fallon: "I started this show, and that changed really fast. Her fashion sense has definitely impacted me and my choices."

"I was living my '70s fantasy in this dress," she recalls. "I sang 'Leather and Lace' in this dress. A lot of good things happened in this dress."

We're also extremely jealous of the shoe collection that Gillies walked us through, including a pair of Gucci heels that Fallon wore one too many times.

"Fallon would not stop wearing [these] in season one. We wore them too much, and we actually had to retire them because we felt maybe Fallon wouldn't wear the same shoe that many times," she confesses.

One of Gillies's favorite pairs of shoes that her character wore is a pair of bedazzled Christian Louboutin heels that she wore to the ball in Paris in the second season, which she calls one of her favorite pairs of Fallon shoes of all time. 

We can definitely understand why.

Actress Caitriona Balfe’s path to stardom hasn’t exactly been what you’d call traditional. While packing bags for a local charity in her native Ireland, she was scouted by a modeling agent and then made her way to Paris at 19, where she began a modeling career that touched all the major fashion houses. Balfe continued to work in New York City for nearly eight years, but after deciding that modeling wasn’t her true passion, she eventually landed in L.A. to pursue her lifelong dream of acting on-screen.

Fast-forward to 2013 when Starz was casting the coveted role of Claire Fraser for the highly anticipated adaptation of the Outlander series and Balfe was called in after a second look at her audition tape. Thanks to her chemistry test with co-star Sam Heughan, she won the role right before shooting began, which required her to uproot her life in L.A. and move to Scotland. (Well, we did say it wasn’t the most traditional path.)

This November, she’ll be starring alongside Christian Bale and Matt Damon in the upcoming movie, Ford v Ferrari, where she plays Bale’s wife, Mollie, who is an accomplished race car driver in her own right. It’s safe to say her career is about to shift into fifth gear.

2018 is already shaping up to be a big year for Kendall Jenner, with the model and reality TV star stepping out on the Golden Globes red carpet for the first time. POPSUGAR Australia points out that it's not quite clear why she was in attendance, but her stylist, Marni Senofonte certainly made sure she stood out.

What does a Christian Louboutin and Star Wars collab look like, you may wonder? Well, you're about to find out. Today in unlikely fashion pairings, one of our favorite luxury shoe brands has teamed up with the biggest movie release of the year, and the result is some major eye candy (that's also for a good cause). 

"Disney's call regarding Star Wars was completely unexpected and surprised me," Christain Louboutin said in a statement. "But I like surprises and this one particularly intrigued me! At first sight, the Star Wars universe and mine seemed far away from one another, but when I saw the pictures of the red planet Crait, I instantly understood where it connected and why they had thought of me. Strong ideas and images spontaneously came to my mind." 

Louboutin designed four shoes inspired by four characters from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, including Daisy Ridley's Rey and Laura Dern's Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo. The best part? The shoes are being auctioned off on Charity Buzz to benefit the Starlight Children's Foundation, which aids hospitalized children.

And it seems model Gigi Hadid is leading the pact in this trend, something we started noticing after she lost a shoe before walking the Anna Sui show during New York Fashion Week (sounds sort of like a Cinderella moment, doesn't it?)

When Gigi stepped out for Bella Hadid's 21st birthday party, she wore a baby blue bustier and matching pants that looked like a modern take on Cinderella's blue ball gown. Fishnet tights can be traced all the way back to the end of the 19th century. Women during the Victorian era did not reveal their legs in public, but as the world began to change, so did women's wardrobes.

Fishnet stockings became a trend among showgirls and flappers in the U.S. during the 1920s. While they were not considered "mainstream," their popularity grew among a certain more "modern" crowd.

Through the later part of the 20th century, fishnets gained momentum, becoming a staple among the punk crowd of the '70s, the grunge of the '90s, and let's not forget Madonna.

Fishnets tend to spring up on one runway or another from season to season, but in 2016, fishnets started to catch on in new and unexpected ways.

For the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund luncheon this week, the model donned a Monse look that featured a collared white blouse draped carefully off of one shoulder, like if you unbuttoned a shirt and let it hang loosely off one side. Of course, this particular piece was styled like this on the runway and for her ensemble, but a similar look is easily achievable with any buttoned blouse you might already own. It's a genius way to take an outfit from work to drinks. Simply wear it buttoned down with trousers or a nice skirt by day, and then slouch it down over one shoulder at night to show a bit of skin.
