How do you set a holiday-season mood in your home?

Honestly, it’s the people who set it! We don’t do a ton of indoor décor—right now, our friend Haik decorated the backyard with these beautifully imperfect pumpkins. Then inside the real mood comes when everyone is gathered in the family room, sitting on the couch and floor, absolutely losing it over football. I’d say my son asks Alexa for a stat on a player maybe 25 times a game. And my kids ask Alexa to play “I like to move it move it” even more.

Do you have any holiday traditions?

We love to make sure John’s family makes it to us, wherever we are. And the football. My god, the football. Oh! I also keep my menu the same each year. I guess that’s a tradition? The only thing that changes is the way we prepare the turkey. Twenty years and I’m still trying to find the best way. But we just got an incredible smoker (on Amazon!), and it has been pumping out some amazing meats lately so fingers crossed!

Do you have a gift-giving strategy this year?

This year, I’m really trying to balance giving gifts from brands everyone already knows and loves, like these products below from Coach, Laneige, Ninja,and Shark with lots of presents from Amazon Essentials. That’s one thing I love about Amazon’s Holiday Shop; the selection of products and brands are all in one place.

What presents are you most excited to give this year?

I think stockings are my favorite part. We always make sure absolutely anyone with us gets their own personalized stocking, so the mantels are always so loaded I worry they’ll crumble over in the morning. Aside from stockings, I love getting people things they will consistently use but still really never get for themselves. A beautiful chef’s knife (ahem, Cravings!), cutting boards, light masks, really luxe face and body creams. The Shark Hair Dryer is another favorite of mine. My daughter Luna loves doing her hair in the morning and her beautiful curls love the diffuser attachment.

Anything special you’re hoping will be under the tree for you?

You know what, I don’t often think about my own gifts as I truly, truly need nothing. But I will say I desperately need an extra-large mixing bowl. Not a set of nesting mixing bowls, but a comically large metal mixing bowl. I have so many people to feed now that I’m finding myself having to break recipes down and do them in really annoying steps because I usually triple every recipe nowadays, and no bowl I have will allow me to just make it all at once! So praying this gets to John…er Santa…somehow.

Are you a last-minute shopper?

I would say I shop up until the last minute, but I love it all year long. There have been days where fast, free Prime shipping has absolutely SAVED me—from buying random Girl Scout patches for a next-day troop meeting or food warmers I signed up to bring for school.

Jake Arnold was destined to be an interior designer. Growing up in England, Arnold was constantly rearranging furniture. "I would always move my room around when I was a kid," Arnold said. "I was obsessed with people's houses."

That obsession paid off, and Arnold now works with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. From John Legend and Chrissy Teigen to Zendaya, Arnold has put his design touch on some seriously incredible homes. 

Beyond his work as a celebrity interior designer, Arnold co-founded The Expert, a digital design platform that enables individuals to consult with the world's top designers virtually. Arnold has also collaborated with brands like Parachute, Lulu & Georgia, and Crate & Barrel. In September, Arnold is also set to release his first book, Redefining Comfort. 

For the latest episode of Who What Wear With Hillary Kerr, Arnold shares how he got his start with no formal training, his best design advice, and so much more. For excerpts from their conversation, scroll below. 

Can we talk a little about how you got here to this current pinnacle?

I essentially moved from England to L.A. in 2012. Beforehand, I always wanted to get into design. It was always in my blood. I would always move my room around when I was a kid. I was obsessed with people's houses. My mom would always say every time we would come back from a friend's house, [that] I would move my room around because I would be inspired.

I studied business and economics at university. [But] it was just not something I ever wanted to do, but it was also very good for me as I've learned that 99.9% of the job is a business.

Anyone will tell you when they're a designer, just having a good eye is such a prerequisite, and actually, everything else you almost learn on the job. I really just threw myself in without any formal training. I think because it's always been a passion of mine, I've spent so much time crafting and learning and making mistakes all the time. It's been a work in progress.

I always say that I have people in the past who have worked on my team who have had so much formal training, and I don't necessarily think it leads to the most successful version of being in this business because it just takes a lot more than technicalities.

I'm hoping you can walk me through that creative and aesthetic journey and how long it took you to understand what you really liked, what your design sensibilities were, and how to ensure it was cohesive.

In the beginning, you say yes to everything. You bite your tongue, and you keep it moving. When I first started, I'd worked for other people. It was at a time where I think Instagram and social media was not as prevalent as it is today. I was able to hone in on what I was attracted to and what I liked.

Growing up in England, where it's all rooted in tradition and everything has a purpose, meaning, and context, and then coming to Los Angeles, where you can build and do whatever you want— that's why I was so drawn to coming here. You really could express creativity on a personal level.

Because of the context here, you can do what you want. The landscape allows you to have an English Tudor next to a Spanish revival house. It's really all over the map.

I think, at the beginning, when I started, I was always drawn to darker, more layered cozy spaces because that's what I grew up around. Everyone here at the time was doing beachy, and everything was blues—that kind of California beach vibe at the time. I was painting people's rooms black. I think a huge part of it was risk-taking. But I was also very fortunate that I met people along the way who inspired me and expanded my horizons. 

Two of my first-ever clients—one being Julianne Hough and one being Katherine Powers—really evolved my style. I think it's just important to, along the way, while you're honing in your craft, to be very open to being inspired and allowing yourself to evolve through others.

What is your best piece of advice for real-world design?

Whenever I've ever lived anywhere, from the first studio apartment where I had zero money to spend, the bare bones for me for design is really paying attention to everything you're using.

The sheets, the towels, and the lighting. Those are your three absolute nonnegotiables. You get a dimmer from Home Depot. You change out the light switch. That's day one.

Then you buy great bedding. You can get amazing affordable bedding from Parachute. Then you can also invest in great towels and things like that.

To me, those are your touch points. Everything you're engaging with and using day in and day out is what makes you feel like you're living like a rich person. That's what you do. You just fake it till you make it.

And when Jake [Arnold] has a collaboration with a company, you buy them.

Honestly, why I do collaborations—it's not only because it's so fun to express creativity through product, but I understand everything is so expensive.

I have a full awareness of how much time things take and how expensive it is. You really don't have to overhaul everything. I think the biggest misconception with design is that you have to do everything at once. I actually think it's a buildable experience that you can buy the things you love, and then over time, those pieces have a story, have a personality, and stand against all your friends. You don't want to have the same house as your friend.

I think [it's important to] know that [good design] doesn't happen overnight. Just get your bases covered with the bigger pieces.

My advice is, no matter what you're buying at any price point, always try and get the best quality because then you buy it once. That's the biggest thing. If you buy something very inexpensive, then you're replacing it three times versus really investing in that amazing bed you sleep in every day. I've had a bed that I've recovered five times. I think that's the joy of it.

Less is more. Take your time. Rome was not built in a day.

Let's talk about your first book, Redefining Comfort, which comes out on September 5. Can you talk a little about why you wrote a book and what you wanted to do differently than everything else out there?

It's definitely a completely new chapter for me. Normally when I think about a book, especially in the design space, it's very much all visual or there's almost too much text that you sometimes almost have to dig so far in that you can't just pick it up and be inspired.

Everything I do outside of projects for clients is very much rooted in an intention. My intention with the book was to share my projects and design evolution thus far from a purely aesthetic standpoint and highlight my design philosophy, which stems from my personal evolution. Of the qualities that I feel I've learned through the years and how all of those qualities are represented through the projects over the years.

So there's a story from the beginning of what comfort has always meant for me. Growing up as a child, not fitting in, not feeling good about myself, and not being around people that were my people. I think that evolution, having to put yourself out there and fulfill a dream and a passion and be okay with failure and then redefining what that comfort level means is also how I like to see the interiors.

While comfort is key, [design] can still be beautiful and inspiring and outside the box and what does that actually mean. Throughout the book, I touch on all of those points.

Allison McNamara is on a mission to help people confront their fear of face oils.

"Back in the day, we were advertised [to] 'beat acne, banish breakouts.' We were always fighting against our skin," says McNamara. "But I think the mantra of Mara is that you can heal your skin with amazing moisture and rich actives—and do it so you're not dry, pilly, or crepey. Oils are so supportive for the skin."

But before she was building an algae-infused beauty brand stocked at retailers like Sephora and Revolve, McNamara got her start in editorial as an intern during the early days of Who What Wear. She then went on to have a career as an on-camera host for outlets like PopSugar and Refinery29. 

In the latest episode of Who What Wear with Hillary Kerr, McNamara dives into her career evolution, shares her tips for every skin concern, and explains why she has declared 2023 the year of sea moss.

I want to start things off by taking a little walk down memory lane because we have a history that goes back to some of the early days of Who What Wear. Do you mind letting everyone know how we met?

Yes! So it was 2009, and I was looking for an internship—this was at the days when dot-com was really starting to boom—and I always knew I wanted to be a television host. But I really wanted to get editorial experience, so I worked at Who What Wear as an intern. … I think we made the Twitter [account] for Who What Wear. That's how long ago this was. You guys taught me so much. Honestly, it's such a 360 moment to be here.

You started with one product, which is your Universal Face Oil. Tell me a little bit about the process of getting to the right formulation, the right product, the right packaging, and all of that because I know there are so many details and decisions that go into launching anything, especially when it comes to beauty and skin.

I feel like you can have a really curated, edited skincare routine and have a few products that do amazing results. So that's kind of where I started because I felt like I was inundated with products. Nothing was really working, and I spent years on these formulations. We have this proprietary algae blend that we use in all of our products, and that's really the story throughout the entire line. But then we really play with what I think are the key actives in skincare: We have an amazing retinol, an amazing hydrating oil, and amazing vitamin C. The list goes on. So [we're] really kind of perfecting those classics like you would a wardrobe, if you will. And I feel that's now the trend, but in 2018 it was not the trend.

Are there any skincare myths that you would like to bust?

Something that drives me crazy is there's hyaluronic acid in everything. And I have an aversion—my skin has an aversion to this ingredient. I think it's just one of the most overhyped ingredients out there. It's in everything. It can be really inexpensive if you're using one that doesn't properly permeate the skin. So it's a filler in a lot of products, and I think there's an overconsumption of it. I just want to see people stop using hyaluronic acid. I think it's a myth that it really hydrates the skin.

I would love to hear your favorite ingredients or practices to help treat a few things. … What do you do for puffiness?

I wouldn't do this every day, but if I am puffy, I love an ice roller. They aren't great for the exterior of your skin to use all the time, but I love an ice roller. And I love using a little bit of gua sha mixed with our cleanser. I think it's really nice because you kind of work it into the skin. And then I think anything with caffeine is really great for puffiness. And standing up to just get yourself vertical helps you drain it out.

What about hyperpigmentation?

I'm obviously partial to our Mara Sea Vitamin C Sérum. It's amazing for hyperpigmentation, redness, and any sort of sun damage you may have garnered over the years. … You will notice a dramatic reduction in redness and those little brown spots that we get. I had a full face of freckles, and with consistent use of retinol at night and vitamin C in the morning, all of it is basically gone. So you have to be consistent. It took years and years.

What about redness?

So I think chlorella, reishi, and ginseng, if you see those ingredients, are really great for calming the skin, reducing puffiness … and really great for redness. I love tiger grass. It's a great ingredient for redness. You'll see that throughout the Dr. Jart+ line. In particular, you'll also see it in different types of tinted foundations or tinted moisturizers that help with evenness. But overall, I think redness is something [where you should] look at your actual diet too and see what things make you redder than others. … There's so much correlation between diet and redness, diet and psoriasis or eczema. So keep that in mind, as that could be the root cause.

As a mom of two, I can attest to the fact that moms-to-be and new moms don’t have it easy when it comes to finding effortlessly chic maternity and postpartum outfits (especially pieces that can be worn well after having a baby). I completely acknowledge that it has 100% gotten better since my own mother and grandmother’s time, but there is no denying that there is room for improvement. It is for that very reason the editors at Who What Wear became instant fans of Bumpsuit. In your opinion, what is it about Bumpsuit that has made it so popular?

I think empowering women to look good and feel good and show off their bodies in such a special time of their lives. We are introducing and redefining a new maternity uniform. Definitely our fabric! People absolutely love it. When I was pregnant, I couldn't find anything to wear that made me feel confident, comfortable, and chic at the same time. I also didn't want to be wasteful and buy a lot of clothing items that I would only wear once. I think so many women can relate to this feeling while they are pregnant and their bodies are constantly changing and there is so much discomfort involved. My goal was to create pieces that make women feel beautiful and sexy with fabrics and styles they could wear throughout their entire pregnancy and beyond, which is why I believe we receive so much positive feedback from across the globe. I see every message, review, and photo online, and it's the most incredible feeling to play a small part in helping so many look and feel their best with staple wardrobe pieces that can be worn when pregnant or not.

How is your fabric that soft? Tell me about the process of finding it. What makes it so soft yet able to shape?

It was important to me that all of our styles would be comfortable with no digging into our growing lady bumps and maintain their shape so that they could stretch gently and be worn postpartum. Our fabric is a brushed jersey, with a four-way stretch, making it very malleable and soft. It took a lot of trial and research to ensure we had the perfect match for our collections. With our Essentials, we use a super-soft four-way stretch fabric, and our new Summer Pops line features a lightweight, quick-dry fabric, which is amazing for sunny days. 

Is it just for pregnant women?

No. It's for ALL your lady bumps. Our styles are great for anyone and everyone. When I think about sustainability, this is a huge factor. You don’t have to buy maternity clothing for a short period in your life, that is thrown away—you can wear them at any stage in your life. They don't have any extra or loose material, so just follow our size guide, and you will quickly find yourself adding all types of styles and hues to your wardrobe. You can see from our new website the same styles on paper-thin models to plus-size models and heavily pregnant models. They are all wearing the same size. That’s how malleable the fabric is, no pinning, no tricks! I say, "A Bumpsuit a day," because I truly wear them for everything from working out to girls' night out. Tthey are great dressed up and dressed down and have an elevated, timeless feeling. 

Why did you decide to expand beyond your DTC site?

We never set out to go into the wholesale business. Our DTC is so strong, and our community is so loyal. Although, it wasn't a hard no. We were open to it but wanted to make sure our production line was smooth and silhouettes very perfected. I wanted to entertain partnerships that made sense for the brand. Hence we have expanded to a small yet specific handful of retail partnerships. Harrods is our newest and first physical retail presence. We are really excited to launch our first shop-in-shop with them. I was so honored when they approached us—this is the very first time they welcomed a maternity brand into the store. They are a legacy brand, so it was such an honor—I actually shed a tear. It makes me feel what we are doing is speaking to women on a new level, that we are redefining maternity fashion and really pioneering something. 

We have been focusing our energy on the core collection, working on our custom fabric and patterns to get everything perfect first. To be honest, it was a soft spot for me. I never found something that I felt confident buying in the maternity and postpartum space. I felt like the brands on offer were so "mumsy," and I didn't like the way I felt forced into a new me when I wanted to maintain the same "me" whilst becoming a mother. I don't know how to explain it, but everything just seemed to say, "You're pregnant, you're becoming a mum now, here is some uncool, butchered-looking clothing for you to buy… Oh and then it goes to waste after you have the baby." Most of the clothing also just seemed like a weird science project adding space for a bump. It was a stage that I felt was forced on me by marketing, and I wanted to dismiss it. Bumpsuit is for women who want to maintain their identity, that is strong and powerful, and who aren't afraid to "free the bump."

I felt selfish to keep it as DTC, I wanted women to feel this product and have it readily available to them. My whole thing, my purpose, is to empower women and unite us. Bumpsuit feels like a vessel for that. I want to open conversations between women all over the world, talk about things we don't get to talk about, feel the resonance, and feel the camaraderie. Since launching, we have had a lot of top retailers reaching out asking for wholesale. It's been great. 

Which piece is selling the fastest, and why do you think that is? 

Definitely a tie between The Kate and the support waist trainer. Oh, and the Cindy, in a close second. The waist trainer was the first piece of shapewear I added to the collection. I think it's different than all the Kardashian sequel (can I say that?) waist trainers, which are definitely a thing. This is simpler, more streamlined, and more comfortable, with no bulging bits or Velcro, etc. Just a really supportive compression band that is amazing for postpartum 24 to 48 hours after laboring. It [provides] amazing support when your body feels like Jell-o, needs grounding after birth, needs skeletal support to sit up and feed your new baby. It’s amazing even for people that want to use it for shapewear underneath looks. It's sculpting. It's also great for people who work desk jobs and need that support or people using it for fitness and working out or even a bad back. You can wear it to sleep in. It’s that comfortable but also gets the job done. You just have to try it to know why it's got five-star reviews and it’s always sold out.

What's next for Bumpsuit?

Wow, so much. We have some really exciting retail partnerships coming up. We are expanding the line into many other categories. We are breaking stereotypes and boundaries and beautifying this space with incredible products. Making mum life easier, cozier, and just better.

If I had to sum up Chrissy Teigen's style in one phrase, I'd say that it's trend-forward L.A. girl. Breezy dresses, heels, It bags, cutoff shorts, oversize blazers, and miniskirts are some of her staples, and she's skilled at putting them all together. That's what she did this week in Beverly Hills when she wore an outfit trend I see pretty much every time I go to Los Angeles (which is a few times a year), without fail.

The outfit consisted of an oversize blazer, floral-print minidress, and mid-calf boots (although sneakers, chunky loafers, or any other heel style would work equally well). It just so happens that a typical L.A.-girl outfit is a great outfit idea for most climates in the spring and summer, and that includes this outfit. So if you have a blazer, minidress, and any of the aforementioned shoe styles, you're set with this outfit trend. Full disclosure: I was going to write about Chrissy Teigen wearing skinny jeans this week, but then I spotted her in something that's much fresher, whether you realize it or not. They might have only just ended, but the 2010s were riddled with beauty trends you have probably already forgotten (even if your Facebook memories try their hardest not to let you). Beauty has always been a means of self-expression, but thanks to social media, it became even more of a space to make a statement, large or small. Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest became a go-to source to discover new ideas, reveal new haircuts, swap recommendations, and share opinions on the latest looks, for better or worse. Thanks to this newfound democratization of trends, beauty also became increasingly more inclusive, with many brands embracing people of color and different body types, as well as genderless products.

Of course, celebrities were at the forefront of many 2010s trends, including one famous family in particular. Love them or hate them, there’s no denying the Kardashian-Jenners’ (often controversial) contributions to the industry. (We named Kim one of the 21 women who defined style in the decade for a reason.) You’ll see them pop up several times in this list, along with other influential names like Rihanna and Cara Delevingne. 

So as we set our sights on new 2020 looks to conquer, it’s officially time to pause and remember some of the best—and best-to-forget—looks, products, and techniques that took over the previous decade. Some might be long gone (we hardly knew ye, strobing), but others, like clean beauty, have surpassed "trend” to become movements that we’ll continue to see in the industry for years to come.

Celebs have been putting their names on fragrances for decades, but in the 2010s, the branding bubble exploded. Kylie Cosmetics made Kylie Jenner a billionaire, while Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty became a best seller at Sephora, largely thanks to the brand’s inclusive and extensive shade ranges.

2. Contouring

The concept of using makeup to exaggerate and visually sharpen the angles on one’s face using different shades of makeup, contouring skyrocketed in popularity thanks, again, to Kim Kardashian West, who shared her technique on Instagram.

3. Strobing

The shiny stepsister to contouring, strobing involved piling on the highlighter to play up the cheekbones, as Gigi Hadid demonstrated at a 2015 event.

Toward the end of the decade, makeup became more subdued as people started eschewing overdone looks in favor of going natural—or even sans makeup altogether, which BFFs Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz did in this gorgeous selfie.

As Botox, fillers, and other procedures became more common, they also became less taboo. Kylie Jenner first admitted to getting lip fillers in 2015 (and dissolving them three years later), while sister Kim Kardashian West even shares her visits to dermatologist to the stars Simon Ourian with her millions of followers.

Transparency in beauty has also extended to product formulas, with consumers seeking out nontoxic beauty alternatives stripped of potentially harmful ingredients like parabens, phthalates, and even fragrances. Selena Gomez has been on a seriously stylish streak the past few months, and this outfit is no different. She chose one of the coziest coats I've ever laid eyes on to act as the perfect third piece to her turtleneck and jeans. Her combat boots make this outfit feel modern yet edgy at the same time.

Chrissy Teigen chose to combine two of 2020's biggest trends into one outfit: leather separates and croc-effect boots. Her pairing paid off by giving her one of the best looks I've seen all winter.

Gigi Hadid's outfit combination is another one that's surprisingly easy to re-create. Simply grab a white tee, leather pants (or jeans), and knee-high boots. Throw an oversize blazer on top, and you're set.

Chrissy Teigen has never been one to reserve her leggings just for the gym. She's been incorporating them into her off-duty wardrobe for years, offering plenty of legging outfit inspiration to the masses in the process. Just this week in Los Angeles, Teigen wore a cute non-gym legging outfit that looked somewhat familiar to us. Since we basically stalk photos of celebs wearing leggings, we quickly recalled a very similar outfit she wore back in 2016 (also in L.A.). The only difference was that the leggings were cropped instead of full-length and the shoes were sneakers instead of slides.

One of the many beautiful things about living in Los Angeles is that you can get away with wearing spring shoe trends in January. One person who fully embraces this is Chrissy Teigen. She not only blessed us with this gem of a look, but also, she launched Fenty Beauty, Fenty Lingerie, and her luxury clothing label, Fenty, this past decade cementing the fact that It was Rihanna’s decade and we were all just living in it.

WHAT: 87th Annual Academy Awards, 2015

Of all the stars, it must be noted that Zendaya had the greatest glow-up of the decade. The former Disney star not only redefined her career through shows like, Euphoria, but women of color everywhere all felt seen when she would show up to award shows rocking her natural hair paired with an equally bomb look. Whatever texture, and whatever outfit Z wore, we all were left wondering if we could become the carpet, just so she could step on our neck.

Beyoncé once said, "Don’t hurt yourself,” but honestly, I've spent the last decade hurt. As any member of the Beehive knows, Beyoncé had us going through the past decade (in the best way). She emanated a level of excellence that only Beyoncé can achieve. I mean, I could list all the incredible things she did in the last decade: producing an iconic visual album, launching her apparel line, being the first black woman to headline Coachella and turning it into a record-breaking Netflix documentary—and we haven’t even gotten to any of the fire fits she served us with. But let’s be real, this singular look says it all.

WHO: Zoe Saldaña

WHAT: Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, Met Gala, 2016

WEAR: Dolce & Gabbana gown; Christian Louboutin heels

One would be naive to not correlate style with Zoe Saldaña—I mean, just look at this Dolce & Gabbana gown she wore to the Met Gala back in 2016. But, beyond blessing us with her beauty, Saldaña has continuously spoken up about the lack of LatinX representation within Hollywood over the past decade. Whoever said caring wasn’t stylish didn’t know about Saldaña.

While the wider population may know Amal purely by her husband’s last name, the truth is she’s so much more than that. So no matter what you feel, there’s no denying this woman’s place in the cultural zeitgeist.

But their style is by no means limited to the runways; they both have served up iconic red carpet and street style looks, solidifying the fact that fashion runs in their veins.

But beyond her career and activism, Chopra always comes correct. Whether it’s her street style or during award season, the actress breaks all the style "rules” in the best way.

Y’all thought we were done with the royal weddings? Nope. This past decade blessed us with not one but two. And in that fashion, Meghan Markle also blessed us with this second controversial reception dress from Stella McCartney on her big day, along with the most fabulous guest list to ever attend a wedding. And while some questioned (and continue to question) Meghan’s style choices from that day on, for many, as they tuned in to watch the royal nuptials, they realized that for the first time they could see themselves reflected in a Dutchess and her personal style.

Honestly, what is life without Celine Dion? Do you know any other women who can pull off a Chanel spandex jumpsuit? That look aside, the Canadian musician has been in the spotlight since she was 18, but like wine, her style has only gotten better with time. Her ability to wear everything from spandex to gowns this past decade is proof that true style has no age.

At the end of the decade, we saw Lana Condor begin to establish herself as not only someone to watch on screen (with her popular Netflix film, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) but on the red carpet as well. Only time will tell how Condor’s style evolves, but from what we’ve seen thus far we’re placing heavy bets she’ll be defining the next decade of what it means to embody style too.

As you probably know, it’s no easy feat picking one iconic look from a legendary style icon. No other celebrity has been able to quite procure as many collective gasps as Jennifer Lopez—and Pinterest boards dedicated to her decades of fashion, might I add. But maybe the look of all looks is the reboot of the deep-V Versace dress she originally wore to the 2000s Grammy Awards. Like J.Lo herself, this dress is timeless, ageless, and forever iconic.

While Lizzo’s rise to popularity was over the past few years, she in many ways is the fullest expression of how style has evolved over the past decade. In fact, no other musician has quite used their platform like Lizzo to promote body positivity and self-acceptance while looking good as hell doing so. If there’s one thing I’m obsessed with at the moment, it’s finding out celebrities’ skincare routines. Just how exactly do they get that glowy no-makeup makeup look and effortlessly dewy skin, while the weather insists on keeping mine as dry as sandpaper? Okay, yes, a lot of it may be down to good genes, but they also get pampered by the best in the business, so it can’t help to find out what’s behind the magic and try it for ourselves, can it?

Let’s start at the beginning. Cleansing is, of course, the most important part of any skincare routine and we imagine you’d need a good one to wash off the number of products needed for a photo shoot or red carpet appearance. Chrissy recently shared a picture of her in-shower selection with not one but two bottles of IS Clinical’s Cleansing Complex, which, she told W Magazine, would be included if she only had five minutes for a routine. She’s also previously admitted that her husband, singer John Legend, can’t get enough of the Foreo cleansing tool.

Masks

With two children, Chrissy has recently talked about how hard it is to find the time to prioritize skincare. When she travels on planes, she tells Refinery 29, is when she "takes the best care of her skin because I have all the time in the world." That explains why we often see her using her beloved SK-II sheet masks in-flight on her social accounts. We also have it on good authority that GlamGlow’s Gravity Mud Mask and ReVive’s Masque de Radiance are favorites of hers for hydration.

Moisturizing

You wouldn’t believe it, but Chrissy herself has admitted her skin feels "very dry all the time, so anything that gets me moisture I’m happy with.” Her day-to-day go-tos are from La Mer (a brand she’s used for over 10 years) and La Prairie. Both brands are on the pricier end of things, shall we say, but both of these products crop up time and again when we ask for expert recommendations, so you obviously pay for results.

Retinol

By now you’ve probably heard about retinol and its anti-ageing effects. It’s no surprise, then, that Chrissy’s ultimate skincare secret is Shani Darden’s retinol—another essential she would include in her routine if she only had five minutes. We’ll have what she’s having. 

Acne-Fighting

Another product Chrissy recently shared on her Instagram stories is Zitsticka’s Killa Patches, which use micro darts to target and calm the appearance of new spots. They’re lifesavers for those days when you have an important meeting, presentation or birthday party you want to look your best for.

Last but not least, a girl’s gotta get that glow, and no one does it better than Chrissy Teigen.
