Working in fashion, everyone has their thing, whether it's an extensive collection of vintage jeans or a penchant for shoes. At Who What Wear, for many of us, it's designer bags. For me, it started when Coach bags were everywhere in middle and high school and evolved to my very first adult designer purchase from Vivienne Westwood and eventually to receiving the classic Prada Tessuto nylon tote as a gift a few birthdays ago.

As an editor, I often analyze shopping data, which made me wonder: Which designer bags are our readers buying right now? To answer this, I reviewed a month of data from June 25 to July 25, and the one brand readers shopped the most didn't come as a surprise to me. With nine transactions in a single month, two of which were the Soft Margaux 15, The Row was definitely the front-runner. Our editors love the designs, and since our readers do as well, it makes complete sense. (Clearly we have expensive taste.)

In second place, Loewe had four designer bag sales over the past month. And Gucci, YSL, and Coach followed with three each, while Jacquemus accounted for two. Others with single orders included Zimmermann, Toteme, Tory Burch, Tod's, Strathberry, Ralph Lauren, Mulberry, Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Khaite, Jimmy Choo, Isabel Marant, Ferragamo, Dragon Diffusion, DeMellier, Chloé, Burberry, Balenciaga, and Alémais.

The second I saw Chloé's new winter 2026 campaign, Tom Petty's "Wildflowers" started playing in my head. The photos, captured on a cliff-top meadow by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, perfectly embody the song's themes of comfort, peace, and unburdening. Sure, the flowers and the sea view are literal elements of the song, which Petty wrote as an escape from a tumultuous time in his personal life, but I'm more focused on the feeling the images evoke—a vibe best explained by the designer herself.

"For this campaign, I wanted to express devotion through women, the vastness of open landscapes, and craftsmanship," Chemena Kamali, creative director of Chloé, said in a press release. "Nature brings us back to instinct, freedom, and connection. In that openness, femininity unfolds with untamed strength and togetherness." With the wind at their backs, Raquel Zimmermann, Jacqui Louise, Thalita Ferreira, and Sarah Isaksen modeled Chloé's billowy, romantic dresses, plaid coats, embroidered blouses, over-the-knee boots, Paddington bags, and more. Mark your calendars: The new winter 2026 pieces will debut in September.

"Folkloric elements and the human touch come together to express a vision that is at once timeless, intuitive, and deeply rooted in the spirit of Chloé," the brand explained in a press release.

It's only fitting that Y2K icon Raquel Zimmermann carries Chloé's reissued Paddington bag, which debuted in 2005.

You belong among the wildflowers.

"Immersed in the clarity of winter light, the collection is revealed through movement, atmosphere, and the changing elements," Chloé explained in a statement.

"Sculpted by the wind and grounded in its surroundings, the silhouettes appear instinctively at one with their environment," the brand continued.

"The landscape is neither backdrop nor destination, but an active force, shaping each gesture and framing the collection."

It's not fall without pretty plaids.

There are a few key spring and summer events that help our editors keep an eye out for inspiration and trends, runways, of course, red carpets, after-parties and The Met Gala.

Then, for the Saint Laurent after-party at People's Bar in New York City, she changed into a custom dress by emerging British designer Steve O Smith and carried one particular accessory: Prada's Wish Pouch.

That made me think back to the Italian luxury house's spring and summer 2026 runway show, where the bag appeared multiple times throughout the collection, taking an essentials-only approach to dressing: phone, keys, wallet. The silhouette comes in three materials—silk, Re-Nylon, and leather—and in a range of shades including black, grey, orange and even pink.

Pouches also appeared at Loewe's, Miu Miu's, and Valentino's spring and summer 2026 shows and even at Celine's autumn and winter 2026 presentation—a nostalgic eveningwear aesthetic reminiscent of the dainty styles dating back to the late 18th century.

If last summer belonged to capri pants, this summer is shaping up to be the season of something far more unexpected: pantaloons. Yes, pantaloons—the airy, gathered, slightly theatrical trousers that look like they were pulled from a Victorian wardrobe, a ballet rehearsal, and a Hamilton-outfits Pinterest mood board all at once. The silhouette has quietly been bubbling up among the fashion crowd for months, but now it's reached critical mass with the Gen Z set. Famed photographer Bill Cunningham once quipped that “fashion is the armour to survive the reality of everyday life”. How this actually transpires looks different from one person to the next. However, whilst performing a slew of records from her discography in celebration of them hitting one billion streams on Spotify during an exclusive concert in Barcelona, Olivia Rodrigo proved that whatever sartorial protection one equips themselves with will always spark discourse.

For the uninitiated, the “Drop Dead” singer chose a perfectly innocuous ensemble that’s in line with her all-American girl-grown-up stage persona—a hand-embellished puff-sleeved top from emerging fashion brand Génération78 that she wore as a babydoll dress and a pair of leather Dr Martens that laced up to her knees.

It’s a silhouette that the songstress has sported many times and personifies the cinematic and stylistic influences that inspire her sonic identity. (Including, but not limited to, Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides, Riot Grrrl bands like Bikini Kill and Princess-core tropes like chintzy tiaras and vintage saccharine minis from the likes of Todd Oldham and Blumarine.)

Immediately, her autonomy to wear this sweet, floral-adorned and jewel-encrusted thigh-grazer with matching bloomers was irrevocably revoked. Some dubbed it as “infantilising” whilst others were scandalised by the idea that an adult woman would choose to wear something she herself felt comfortable, confident and in line with her creative vision in front of her teenage fanbase. But there’s more to this babydoll dress than meets the eye, with the ethereal and coquettish silhouette a harbinger of rebellion, subversion and anti-establishment of the punk persuasion.

Indeed, this undermining of traditionally feminine tropes has been happening for decades, with the most pronounced disruptions from the likes of Courtney Love and Kat Bjelland. As with anything in fashion, once a trend begins to bubble up in a subculture—in this case, the ‘90s Pacific Northwest grunge and Californian rock scenes—it’s soon thrust into the mainstream. Soon, Marc Jacobs was designing a slew of babydoll dresses during his time at Perry Ellis that not only encouraged these aesthetic sensibilities, but literally outfitted those who wanted in on the trend.

Naturally, in the decades that followed, the style that once began as a cost-saving measure during the ‘40s—the style’s creator, Sylvia Pedlar, was encouraged to trim metres of her nightgowns during wartime fabric rations—became ubiquitous and a part of the cultural landscape in its own right.

In the past spring/summer 2026 season alone, many prolific designers who explore themes of girlhood, from Miuccia Prada to Chemena Kamali at Chloé, all presented varying interpretations of the shape. Elsewhere, many contemporary brands rooted in a dreamlike nostalgia and romanticism, including Dôen, Faithfull and If Only If, have made babydoll dresses a signature part of their brand identities. So, if wearing one is supposed to be this depraved act, why are they just so darling?

If anything, the overarching lesson to be gleaned from this palaver is that, subconsciously or not, this summer is set to be the season of the babydoll dress. Whether worn in overt retaliation to the criticism or proud defence of an innocuous shape, this style demands to be seen. And with Rodrigo’s new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, on its way, it feels like the perfect backdrop to this phase of wearing whatever you want, how you want, lace-embellishments and all.

As if like clockwork, winter’s blistering grip has relinquished and invited in spring’s blissful warmth, resulting in revitalised wardrobes that prioritise lightweight fabrics, ethereal silhouettes and dreamy prints.

This season, however, it appears that the biggest blouse trend of note doesn’t just meet all those requirements, but also delivers that dose of nostalgia we so often seek out, whilst providing an angelic counterpoint to the dependable jeans we tend to spend most of our time in.

Indeed, peasant tops are once again trending, offering a soft sensuality that feels completely fitting for the sun-drenched days that stretch ahead of us.

For the uninitiated, peasant tops refer to a style of blouse that features a slightly puffed cap sleeve, an elongated shape that billows down the body and intricate details like broderie anglaise eyelets, lace trims, whimsical ruffles or quaint pleats that give the top a hand-made, almost archival quality.

Just look at the lines that stretch through Portobello Markets on any given Saturday when the sky is a picturesque blue, or the fanfare surrounding archival boutiques like Rellik or Turner Vintage, which specialise in rare, almost antique pieces from the past century, as proof of our collective appetite for pieces that are intricate, thoughtful and effortlessly elegant

Of course, for adherents of the bohemian aesthetic, you’ll know that peasant blouses aren’t new by any means. First garnering popularity through the 20th Century, they first came to prominence in the ‘40s with Henri Mattise depicting several styles in his work before becoming a fixture in the balmy wardrobes of the European jet set like Jane Birkin in the ‘60s before finally showing up on the runway in Saint Laurent’s landmark “Haute Russian" collection in the ‘70s.

These days, you’re bound to find a peasant top within the work of designers who derive the most inspiration from these eras, from Chemena Kamali’s free-spirited and intrepidly feminine pieces for Chloé or Margaret and Katherine Kleveland’s work for their beloved brand Dôen, which the pair describe as holding a “reverence for coastal California of decades past".

However, when it comes to how they’re styled, not much has really changed. Allowing the fluidity and ease of the style to really shine, most wearers pair their peasant tops with sturdy denim bottoms, particularly light washes in straight-leg cuts. Emulating the spirit of the La Piscine star, they’re commonly complemented with her trademark basket bag, too.

Still, in a season defined by lightness and a renewal, there’s nothing more appealing than embracing a trend that allows a more delicate and tender side to show. In the words of Charli XCX—which were immortalised on her magnum opus party album brat and subsequent use in Emerald Fennell’s film adaptation of the literary classic Wuthering Heights—everything is romantic.

If you seek any proof that the austere days of stealth wealth dressing are behind us, you only need to look at the current state of jelly shoe trends. There’s certainly nothing more anathema to quiet luxury than a style reminiscent of childhood treats, rendered in saccharine hues and designed to be worn on escapes to the seaside. Indeed, from the sundrenched harbour of Saint-Tropez to the rugged coastline of Saint Barthélemy, this balmy silhouette has disrupted the incumbency of sleek, albeit oftentimes greyscale, minimalist wardrobes and those who subscribe to the fashion philosophy laid out by the likes of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. (These are certainly too Slim-Aarons-meets-Jeff-Koons for her taste.)

In saying that, there are quite a few discerning style savants who have proved the enduring power of jelly sandals season after season, including Zoë Kravitz, Jennifer Lawrence and the patron saints of understated opulence, the Olsen Twins. In fact, the resurgence of the style can partly be attributed to the pair who first presented a pair of glove-fit lattice styles back in September 2023. Now, they’ve become a core fixture in the offerings of other luxury brands that focus on outfitting with a laid-back, effortless and insouciant approach to style.

At Chloé, creative director Chemena Kamali has released quite a few jelly shoes that have subsequently gone viral, including the Cosmopolitan pink heeled flip-flops and the charming mules, which have since been dubbed “Cinderella shoes”, seen on the heritage label’s recent spring/summer 2026 runway.

Yet for Christina Martini, the co-founder and creative director of Ancient Greek Sandals, this gelatinous rise is only proof of the collective cottoning on to what sartorial hedonists have known for a while. “Jelly shoes have evolved from a one-season wonder into a true summer staple, she explains.

“They have a timeless appeal, evoking a sense of nostalgia and reminding people of carefree, childhood holidays,” Martini adds. “Despite their origins as a beachside essential, jelly shoes have become a luxury staple thanks to their balance of simplicity and modernity. They add a playful pop of colour and can instantly refresh an outfit. It’s that combination of nostalgic design and contemporary appeal that has made them so enduring.”

Still, as the current fervour for hybrid and “freaky” footwear has proven, there’s really no limitations to what constitutes a jelly shoe. “Jellies work across so many silhouettes because they bring a sense of joy and irreverence to any style it touches, making more directional designs feel wearable and fun,” Martini notes. Case in point: a Dutch-inspired wooden clog gets a taste of the Cyclades thanks to the addition of a caramel brown jelly strap, or wedge flip-flops that would’ve been found in Marissa Cooper from The O.C’s closet, worn without a hint of Y2K irony.

Style Notes: The current modus operandi for designers seems to take a trending silhouette and render it in the most subversive material possible. We’ve seen this come to the fold in the form of satin trainers and technical ballet flats, but jelly fisherman sandals have quietly been making a case for themselves in the background, sans any flashy publicity or noise as a “freaky” shoe choice. Of course, when a pair is speckled with glitter and completed with rhinestones as this Loeffler Randall style is, it doesn’t really need to work hard to pique your interest.

Style Notes: Another mutation that might seem like something you’d find in a Mary Shelly novel, but jelly wedges are swiftly becoming one of the most popular styles for summer. Of course, when you consider the acclaim surrounding Alaïa Cube thong mules and Paris Georgia’s Dune wedges, it should come as no surprise that this noughties favourite has found its place amongst us nostalgics.

Style Notes: Of course, a summer shoe edit wouldn’t be complete without a style that could take you from day to night, now would it? Whether it features a pinched, nipple-esque heel à la this Chloé style here, as Neverworns founder Liana Satenstein coined it in her substack, or a more contemporary curved slant, a kitten heel is a surefire way to make you appear a little more elevated, courtesy of its inherent stature-raising properties.

It is abundantly clear (no pun intended) that jelly sandals grabbed the fashion set's attention last spring and summer, especially the Chloé ankle-strap jelly sandal and The Row's jelly styles. The return of jelly shoes really struck a nostalgic chord among fashion people, and this year is no different. I initially held off on buying a pair, thinking this would just be a passing fad, but I still find myself coveting a pair of my own.

Thankfully, I came across a much more affordable option than Chloé's sleek sandals that satisfies my craving. The $40 Gap alternative is even on sale for just $19 in most colors. At a price this low, I may even cave on a couple colors since it's hard to settle on just one. I'm currently leaning toward the brown, clear, and black pairs the most, and I plan to wear them with everything from jeans to dresses.

It’s a throwaway line so severe that it’s been seared in our collective memories, but from the moment Miranda Priestly admonished one of her editorial staff for suggesting covering florals for spring, it’s almost felt like we’ve second-guessed wearing them. Trite? Perhaps. But apt for a season that’s perennially in bloom? Completely.

This season, however, fashion’s most tasteful are rebelling against this authoritative decree and proving that, despite all the pretences and cliches, wearing botanicals during this time of year is genuinely groundbreaking. Of course, there are some brands like the nostalgic-laden designs of Doên and endlessly sun-seeking silhouettes of Faithfull The Brand, who have always known this. In turn, their perennial use of floral prints has made them synonymous with this period, let alone lucrative businesses that turn over millions of dollars in profit. Luxury brands know this all too well, with the spring/summer 2026 season dominated by oversized petals, dusty peonies and ditsy baby's breath. At Dior, Jonathan Anderson paid homage to Monsieur Dior’s adoration for floristry—a passion that began growing up around his childhood gardens in Granville and has culminated in the house staging most collections in Paris’s Jardin des Tuileries—by rendering soft bouquets on bubble hemlines. Elsewhere, at Chloé, Chemna Kamali invoked the lurid essence of the eighties with a fluorescent colour palette and blown-up flowers that felt like something you would’ve seen worn on Tom Selleck on Magnum P.I.

On a popular cultural level, it seems that almost everyone is becoming a hobbyist horticulturist. 2. The Mulberry Soft Bayswater

One of the most iconic Mulberry bags to date is the Bayswater. First launched back in 2003, the classic appeal and spacious interior launched this bag straight onto the arms of It girls everywhere. Naturally, it never truly fell out of favour, and with a devoted following, Mulberry looked to reinvent the style for the modern day; enter the Mulberry Soft Bayswater.

Whilst many of the It bags on the list have received a serious amount of hype, the Soft Bayswater has quietly become the IYKYK bag that the original always was. Taking clear design details from its predecessor, the new Soft version maintains the striking handle motifs and flap shape, whilst gaining a more pared-back look, a more supple shape, and a serious dose of ease. The supple form of the leather is a nod to the original style, with long handles for over-the-shoulder wear and a slight east-west silhouette to update the bag for 2025 (and beyond).

3. Balenciaga City

Originally introduced as the Motorcycle bag in 2001, Balenciaga's It accessory broke away from the more structured silhouettes of the previous decade. The ease of the bag brought a vintage, well-loved feel to the style that, alongside the lack of distinct branding, saw the bag become an insider favourite fast, as supported by a series of sightings on celebrities such as Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. The hardware detailing that eluded to the biker feel set the bag apart from polished styles as a bag that could bring an edge to luxury.

The lightweight form, the attached mirror and the longer shoulder strap ensured the bag became a practical companion for the everyday. Since it's release, the bag has become known as the City bag, even renaming itself as Le City for its easy everyday appeal. 4. The Miu Miu Metalassé

Rather than the return of a bag, has come the return of a handbag motif: Matelassé. First introduced on the 2006 autumn/winter runway, the pleated leather effect on the handbag quickly became an iconic feature of Miu Miu's designs, and now it's set for a return.

Be it clothing or accessories, there's a joy-filled vein that runs through all of Miu Miu's creations, and the tactile ruching of the Matelassé lends itself perfectly to the brand's aesthetic. It's a sweet edge, sometimes lent into with sugary sweet pastels or juxtaposed with more distressed effects. Either way, it's a clear iconography for the brand

For 2025, the soft ruched motif has been applied to a series of new and returning icons. The Wander and the Arcadie are gaining traction with every day, both of which feature this pleated treatment. 5. The Fendi Spy Bag

As soon as the news arrived that Fendi was reissuing the Spy Bag, I knew I had to get my hands on it. A few months ago, I took the bag out for a day, and fell in love, once again, with the playful yet elegant appeal of the style.

First unveiled on the spring/summer 2005 runways, the Fendi Spy Bag quickly grew a cult following that launched the bag into the same stratosphere as the beloved Baguette and coveted Peekaboo. The dumpling shape is iconic of the bag, with double handles moulded from the bag's body, and a flap closure with a secret. Inside, a hidden pocket can be found, storing your most treasured possessions close to hand.

Whilst the original Spy bag came in a series of neutrals, bold shades and pattern mixing, the new version feels like an elegant older sister. The leather has been smoothed and softened, the handles less textured, taking on a twisted effect instead. The colourways, too, show the evolution of the style, ranging from classic black to rich burgundy.

6. The Louis Vutton Speedy

The Louis Vuitton Speedy bag has a long history dating all the way back to the 1930s. First presented as a travel tote, the luggage brand expanded into everyday accessories, updating the Speedy along the way. The original was made in size 30, then came the variety in sizes to offer more versatility to the wearer. With the iconic Louis Vuitton monogramming, the bag was eye-catching, a nod to its luxurious and well-crafted origins, notes that continue with the current styles.

The Speedy has maintained its prominence in the handbag world over the years, with popularity rising every so often alongside noteworthy collaborations. The early 2000s saw the first time that Louis Vuitton collaborated with Takashi Murakami, bringing rainbow monogramming to the beloved Speedy bag and once again igniting fashion's adoration with the style. It came to define the decade, spotted on a series of celebrities, in films and featuring on wish lists across the globe. Twenty years on, the second drop arrived, and the Speedy once again was thrust into the limelight.

7. The Celine Luggage

In the 2010s, it was rare to go a day without spying a Celine Phantom bag. Welcoming in the new decade, creative director at the time, Phoebe Philo, brought a sophisticated, structured tote to market, and the fashion crowd took note. Much like many of the It bags on this list, it was understated, elevated and had all the hallmarks to cement its place in the best designer bags list for a lifetime. Decades on, the current creative director, Michael Rider, has decided its time to bring it back.

Now named the New Luggage, the bag is returning for 2025, bringing with it the distinct elegance and ease, but with a twist. The look of the bag with its simple double handles, boxy front and winged sides has been retained, along with the noticeable front piping. But a joyful reinvigoration is underway as Rider exaggerates the east-west shape, emboldens the wingspan further and upturns the iconographic zip into a playful smile.

From a mile off, the bag is still identifiable as a Celine bag, now with a fresh silhouette and accent detailing to show its progression to its 2025 form.

Chloé’s spring 2026 show felt like watching the house step confidently into a new era while looking lovingly back at its past. Chemena Kamali cited the challenge of exploring the space between couture and ready-to-wear as her waypoint while designing this collection. Leaning into the high energy of the '80s, classic yet joyful floral prints from the 1950s, and new silhouettes that marry them both, that was pure fun. The bohemian ease that has long defined the brand remained, but this time it was seen through a new lens—the lens of couture.

The Front Row

Claudia Schiffer, Alexa Chung, Liv Tyler, Georgia May Jagger, Rita Ora, Aimee Lou Wood, and more set the tone for a front row that felt like a chic reunion of fashion icons past and present. They mainly arrived dressed in Chloé F/W 25, and it was as if our shopping list for this season came to life on some of the chicest attendees.

Big '80s Energy

From start to finish, the show pulsed with an unmistakable '80s spirit. It opened with 19 consecutive, vibrant floral looks, each styled with elements like big shoulders, taffeta textures, and high-waisted skinny pants. There was a sense of joy and nostalgic drama to be found in every piece. After four seasons with Kamali at the helm that felt like a nod to the '70s, there was a layer of excitement to see her take on a completely different era.

Fancy Florals

Florals have always been part of the Chloé vocabulary, but this season, they blossomed in unexpected ways. Sourced from the archives, vintage '50s prints were splashed across dramatic dresses and structured tops. The effect was a perfect collision of decades—'50s romance meeting '80s edge—for a look that felt both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

Funnel-Neck Outerwear

Among the standout pieces, the transitional outerwear for spring focused on the funnel-neck structure that we’ve grown to love so much in recent years. This is a shape that strikes the perfect balance between chic and functional—an overarching theme among what designers have in mind for 2026.

Another day, another triumphant display of fashion to emerge from the streets of Paris Fashion Week.

Whilst the runways have certainly delivered countless looks of note this season—Schiaparelli’s sheer slips dotted with feathered accents, Jonathan Anderson’s micro bubble skirts and shrunken bar jackets for his debut Dior collection, the return of the 1957-era sack dress at Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga—it’s really the maze of boulevards that make up the city’s arrondissements where some of the more relatable and immediate offerings occur.

This point was proven by none other than Alexa Chung on Sunday evening. The British style icon stepped out to attend Chloé’s spring/summer 2026 show in a millennial-adored trend I could’ve never imagined would come back.

So, whilst everyone was consumed with dissecting Chemena Kamali’s latest bohemian range, I couldn’t peel my eyes away from Alexa's denim capri pants. As a patron of England’s noughties fashion scene, it really should come as no surprise to see Alexa revive this silhouette. I thought it would be forever banished to the annals of the early 2000s. Alas.

As someone who believes that pedal-pushers aren’t the controversial fashion item they’re made out to be, but who also really struggles to wear jeans at the best of times, I was quite conflicted about the return of this structured shape. I loved her peplum-esque grey blazer, the cream satin blouse that peeked out from under the lapels, the chunky belt that was fixed at her waist and her pointed-toe, T-bar kitten heels. But knee-grazing, slim-cut denim trousers? Are we really prepared to go back there?

Then, I remembered who I was talking about. This is the premier It girl. The person who inspired that heart-stopping note, penned on the back of a cocktail-bar napkin and who introduced Mary Janes and Peter Pan collars to the mainstream. If Alexa wants to resurrect one of the more polarising looks of the last century, all the rest of us really should be doing is taking notes. (Especially when she finishes the look off with a Chloé Paddington bag!)

That’s exactly what I did, and after a bit of digging, I realised that some very similar ensembles had already been making the rounds in the French capital, with countless Parisian tastemakers posting themselves on social media wearing nearly identical outfits.

However, if you were to ask Alexa herself, her look isn’t necessarily Parisienne, but more pirate. Indeed, the 41-year-old posted it to her own Instagram with the caption, "Swashing, buckling etc. The Chloé show was very gorgeous. 🪝[SIC]."

The presenter turned model might’ve put the most sophisticated spin that I’ve personally seen, though she’s not the only one embracing the maritime aesthetic. Both Alaïa’s balloon trousers and Alexander McQueen’s hussar jackets evoke this buccaneer sensibility, as do the Kate Moss-approved slouch boots that have slowly been trickling back in. Still, if you’re looking for a more elevated way of testing the waters with this motif, Alexa's interpretation is surely the one for you.

For me, autumn starts the second the calendar flicks to September, no matter the official date. It's always been the season I most look forward to, partly because I love building layered outfits, but also because of the fresh start it brings. September is basically fashion's January; a time of new beginnings, new routines, and, in my case, a renewed energy to refine my wardrobe.

But whilst the clothes might be what everyone talks about when autumn comes around, for me, accessories—and handbags in particular—set the tone for the months ahead and get me the most excited. This year, I've been thinking a lot about what makes the perfect autumn bag. It has to be practical enough for the daily grind (and to withstand getting caught in the rain), but special enough to feel like a considered addition to my collection. I've been leaning into rich textures like suede and grainy leather, deep tonal colours such as burgundy, chocolate brown and inky black; and designs that feel timeless but still have something new to say. Plus, the right bag needs to be able to take me from a busy workday into the weekend, so I don't have to switch over my essentials to a different style.

This isn't to say that I'm totally ignoring the autumn/winter 2025 trends, though. '90s-style minimalist shoulder bags are everywhere right now, and I'll admit I never thought they were for me. I've always been drawn to larger, Mary Poppins–style bags you can throw everything in. But then I tried Arket's lacquered crossbody, and it completely changed my mind. The small, sleek exterior felt super chic, and there's something freeing about a smaller bag; it's nice not having to lug around a big, heavy tote. On the other end of the spectrum, the Chloé Paddington has made its long-awaited return, which feels nostalgic for me since my older sisters both owned one, and I used to pine after theirs.

Between high-street brands and luxury labels, I've chosen an edit of bags that meet my needs: wearability, longevity and that spark of joy that comes with carrying something new. When narrowing down my choices, I found myself returning to a handful of brands that always deliver at this time of year: Savette's sculptural shapes, DeMellier's timeless designs, COS's minimalist aesthetic and H&M's surprisingly elevated leather line-up were obvious starting points. Add to that Chloé's heritage revival and Arket's trend-driven offering, and I have myself a balanced selection that feels both personal and relevant, ready for you to choose from.

1. Savette Slim Symmetry Pochette

My Review: The Savette Slim Symmetry Pochette immediately caught my attention thanks to its shape and suede finish. Tactile without being too heavy, suede always feels so right in autumn. The bag is so compact that it's not suitable for office days; it's more of a daytime or weekend companion than a desk-to-evening hold-all. It's perfect for the essentials: phone, small wallet, keys and maybe a compact mirror and a lip product. What surprised me was how well it worked with my outfit that day: wide-leg trousers, sweater vest, flats and a cropped trench. The finish was simple yet effective.

The structure is firm around the top handle, which gives it a smart edge, and because it's so small, it doubles nicely as an evening bag too, as long as you're travelling light. The suede holds its colour well, but I'd be cautious about damp weather and would advise giving it a coating of suede protectant. For the coming season, I could see myself pairing this with casual outfits that still have some structure, like a wool coat or tailored trousers.

2. COS Gallery Tote Bag

My Review: I like to invest in a new work bag every year or two, and COS has nailed it this season with this suede tote. The dark-brown tone feels particularly relevant; it's softer than black but still grounded enough to go with everything in my autumn capsule wardrobe. The tote has a clean, pared-back look but is surprisingly spacious, which is exactly what I need for commuting days. It doesn't have compartments, so your phone, notebook and umbrella all would share the same space, but because it's big, that works in its favour, letting you pack what you need without worrying about rigid divisions.

It has strong handles, too, that sit nicely on the shoulder, with enough drop to carry comfortably when walking. I can imagine styling this with a tailored blazer, wide-leg trousers and loafers or even just denim, because it has that easy, professional quality. What makes it worth the investment is how understated it is; it doesn't feel trend-driven, so I know I'd be carrying it for years.

On the day I found this one, I also took the chance to explore some of COS’s new knits. The deep-purple cardigan and waistcoat I tried complemented the brown suede of the bag better than I expected, giving it an edge that still felt cohesive. On less formal days, I can also see the bag with a simple jeans, tee and chunky boots look. You can't really go wrong here—the shape is classic, and the suede, if cared for, will age beautifully.

3. DeMellier Hudson Bag

My Review: DeMellier's bags are simultaneously classic and modern. The Hudson is the perfect example: structured, elegant and incredibly versatile. The grainy leather makes it hard-wearing, which is something I always look for in an autumn bag, and the size is just right for everyday use. It also wins big on versatility. First, the many, many compartments are a major plus. It has a central zipped section plus pockets on either side, meaning you can organise your main essentials in the centre, keep your phone and keys where they're easy to reach and maybe pop a compact or power bank in a side pocket.

If I were taking this to work, I'd be able to fit a smaller laptop or iPad, plus a notebook, charger and some snacks. My 13-inch MacBook is too wide, so it wouldn't fit, but that's a trade-off I'd accept given how refined this style is. For a day out, you could throw in a water bottle, sunglasses case and more without issue, and the structure keeps the bag from slumping. Whilst trying this one out, I styled it with a Liberty scarf tied around the handle, and it instantly gave me Hermès Kelly vibes—playful but still elevated. The top handle and crossbody strap give you options, which is always useful when you're running around the city. For me, this ticks the day-to-night box easily.

4. H&M Crossbody Bag

My Review: H&M has been quietly releasing some impressive bags this season, with lots of suede styles garnering attention. To me, this leather crossbody feels like the underdog that deserves more recognition. It surprised me with its colour; it's very "mole"—that is, a blend of grey, brown and taupe tones in that muted middle ground which isn't quite warm and not quite cool. It would work beautifully with deep brown, forest green, charcoal and rust shades. The multiple compartments are a win too; there's a main section, a zippered inner pocket and a slip pocket, so you won't end up rummaging around for ages. It's faux leather, but the bag is so well made that I had to double-check. It honestly feels more premium than many other high-street offerings I've come across.

I love how you can dress this bag up or down. On a casual day, I'd style it with jeans, a slouchy jumper and Mary Jane flats, letting the bag rest casually over my shoulder. If I were taking it out for the evening, I'd pair it with a midi dress, a long coat, heels or smart boots. Because it's a shoulder style, it has a little give, so you can wear it across the body if needed, or simply hold it at its base for a smarter angle.

5. Chloé Paddington Bag

My Review: The Paddington is back, and for me, it's a real full-circle moment. I remember watching my sisters carry theirs in the early 2000s and thinking it was the most stylish thing I'd ever seen. Fast forward, and Chloé has reissued it just as we're heading into a boho-comeback autumn. Speaking of which, the Granat colourway is a deep, wine-like hue that feels perfect for this time of year. It's rich without being too bold and would look amazing against a camel coat or saturated indigo denim.

The bag has all the charm of the original: the padlock and the slouchy shape, but introduces a slightly different leather finish, cleaner seams and a marginally slimmer silhouette in some colourways. The hardware is more refined and less bulky than older Paddington styles, and the edges are smoother, which gives it a little more polish. In terms of capacity, it's definitely roomy enough for daily essentials: a lipstick, a book, AirPods, a hairbrush, your phone, a compact and perhaps a small umbrella. The structure means it can take a bit of weight without falling flat. I also like that so many people have been buying vintage Paddingtons since last year—this reissue feels like Chloé giving the people what they've been asking for.

6. Arket Lacquered Crossbody Bag

My Review: This is the bag that changed my mind about smaller, '90s-inspired shapes. When you think of ’90s bags, you might picture small shoulder or crossbody bags with subtly curved lines, a gloss, vinyl or lacquered finish, minimal hardware and compact shapes; back then, bags were about simplicity and attitude rather than load-carrying. This Arket lacquered crossbody fits that mould nicely: it has a glossy burgundy finish, clean lines, minimal embellishment and a sleek silhouette. Even though it's labelled a crossbody, I found that I could tie the strap higher so it sat under the arm more like a shoulder bag, which leans more into the '90s vibe.

Despite its small size, it surprises in what it can carry: my wallet, phone, keys, a small tube of hand cream and a lipstick, so it handles essentials well. It's great for evenings or days when you're travelling light. The lacquered finish means it stands out a little, so use it to elevate modest outfits: pair it with black skinny jeans and an oversized jumper, or a slip dress and boots for just the right amount of gloss. I also really like that it can be carried in multiple ways: crossbody, over the shoulder or under the arm.

During Paris Fashion Week, Laufey sat for the Lanvin F/W 25 menswear show wearing a little black dress with an oversize collar, white stitching, and a bow detail. This is one of the first times we've spotted Laufey sporting red lips (a notable departure from her princess-like pink), but the choice pairs beautifully with her otherwise minimalist makeup look. Laufey's most recent beauty moment we've fallen in love with? The look she wore to the Chanel Haute Couture F/W 25 show in Paris, France. She posed for the photographers outside the Grand Palais's Salon d'Honneur wearing an elegant purple dress with floral accents from the fashion house's S/S 25 haute couture collection and a soft and youthful makeup look by Ellen Walge. We saw her once again wearing purple eye shadow brushed below her waterline (this time, it was a glistening lilac), berry-pink matte lips, a flush to the cheeks, and a sun-kissed base. In other words, it's the perfect transitional makeup look to take us from summer to fall with a few key products.

When I think back to the early 2000s, boho fashion reigned supreme. Vanessa Hudgens was the poster child of Disney's cool-teen brigade, and her Coachella flower crowns were soon seen adorning the heads of fashion girls everywhere. When I saw Dior’s Cruise collection back in 2021, the bohemian influence was unmistakable: delicate lace maxi dresses, slouchy, buckled boots and artfully tied headscarves captured a wanderlust-fuelled aesthetic.

But most recently, it was Chloé’s spring/summer 2025 show that truly cemented boho’s comeback. Chemena Kamali’s second collection was a sweeping ode to the brand’s heritage. If you haven't heard of Los Angeles–based styling duo Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, you'll definitely recognize their impressive, star-studded list of clientele, including Olivia Rodrigo, Addison Rae, and Rosalía. Now, the sibling creative team has entered the world of motorsports by crafting a series of incredible looks for Tate McRae's latest music video for "Just Keep Watching" from the official F1 soundtrack.

We got a chance to chat with the Delgadillos about this amazing opportunity. The duo share a candid look into what it was like to create this iconic music moment on set.

"We loved seeing it all come to life! Every department was full of talented people that made the collaborative process smooth. It's rare to be in a room with a team that is so open to each others opinions," they explained.

When watching the video, it becomes really clear that a lot of care went into making sure all the looks have an elevated feel. The Delgadillos took a lot of details into consideration when planning each outfit.

"Everything starts with the mood board, and for this project in particular, we had very futuristic and specific direction to follow with how the sets were going to be. Once we saw everything coming to life, we realized all of the looks needed to be sleek and simple for Tate to shine. We didn't want to overshadow her with over-the-top looks. All the looks were very intentional," said the sisters.

Chenelle: Tate looks so good in Tom Ford Gucci pieces. We were loving his swimwear on her but wanted to create an athletic look the wasn't on-the-nose "athlete." This look read sexy and sleek while still giving a nod to endurance.

Outfit #2: Void

Chenelle: Tom Ford described his YSL S/S 03 collection as "surreal but subtle." We wanted Tate to embody this by seeming dreamlike and unattainable in the most stripped-back way. Being the first look of the video, we used this as the foundation for the rest of the looks.

Outfit #3: Topcoat

Chloe: This is Tate's final moment reflecting a car's "final topcoat" before it's ready to be used. We wanted her to pop in front of all the drivers but still feel like this look lived in the same world as all of the other looks. Having one pop of color here was really effective in showing the final product that was being built throughout the entire video.

Outfit #4: Floor

Chenelle: This look was a nod to '80s dancewear. We needed it to be functional more than anything. Keeping it sleek and monochromatic really allowed for her choreography to shine here.
